It's Hump Day, and Siblings Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I’m pretending it's warmer than it really is, in Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum.
Reminder: 4/12 will be Platonic Ideal Friday...wear your platonic ideal of X (and X can be anything: yourself, a note, a fragrance family, a style or characteristic — be as creative as you like). (You can find an easy definition of platonic ideal here.) Suggested by Jalapeno and Koyel.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m wearing Blackberry & Bay, and both the blackberry and the bay are showing up on my skin. The bay is mitigating the fruity notes with and interesting herbal vibe. Nice. I don’t particularly like Jo Malone, but this may be decant worthy.
You smell great!
Blackberry & Bay is one I really like from JM. You smell great today.
SOTD Mugler Cologne Come Together – it’s great. Has anyone tried this? Is it basically the same as the original Cologne?
Mugler Cologne vs JPG Fleur de Male – too similar to have both?
Considering getting Mugler Cologne for my 13 year old for his Easter Basket. His 1 and only cologne is Declaration l’eau (when he was little he wore Mustela Musti). So, If I get this on Fragrancenet, what else should I buy for at least $26 to get to the free shipping threshold?? blind buy a classic? celebuscent? drug store cheapie? some lemming I may not be aware of? Please help me decide!
ATTN cheapskate drinkers of so-so coffee in southeastern PA: Wawa’s 50th anniversary is tomorrow and they will be serving free coffee all day!
Ohhh, that sounds nice. I have a decant of the original Mugler Cologne somewhere, must dig it out. Does the Mugler Cologne Come Together have a fig note?
Re: shopping on FragranceNet, what types of scent do you enjoy? I’ve purchased several Bulgari scents for cheap, as well as Lovely by SJP and Jessica McClintock. What I really like about FragranceNet is they carry some body products like the soaps, lotions and deodorants in certain scents. My last deodorant purchase was Coriandre, which I think I got for $13 bucks if I remember correctly.
Good idea!
ooooh, I miss Wawa 😉
I didn’t pick up on any fig, but it’s my first wearing
Not in PA, but “cheapskate drinkers of so-so coffee” made me laugh.
Me too!
If you like the Elizabeth & James scents they have some of the body oils and dry shampoos pretty cheap now that they’re d/c’d!!
I do ??
Not necessarily for him…
+ Prada Infusion de Vetiver mini or any of this line.
and / or
+ Bvlgari Black
+ Amouage body product
* Travalo atomizer
Very tempted by the Prada infusion sample 8 set ?
I think that’s a wise choice!
last time I bought from there I tacked on a mini of CdG2 and a big ol bottle of Aramis Devin, both of which I really like
Cdg2 sounds very interesting. Fragrantica says Devin is like Aliage – do you find that as well?
I wouldn’t have thought of it off the top of my head – now that you mention it I guess they have some herbal qualities in common but I think of Aliage as being citrusy/juicy whereas Devin is really a barbershop kind of feel and you can definitely tell it is a leather base albeit a gentle one, which I would not say about Aliage.
Fragrancenet has a pretty good selection of manufacturer’s samples. Maybe pick a few of them?
Another great idea ?
Good morning Y’all….
Unfortunately my skin is scent naked today. The pollen count is 1476, and my nose can’t take on a single additional molecule until further notice…..
Always happy to read what others are wearing though! 🙂
I’m with you, but I sprayed (Jessica McClintock) and my head feels like it’s about to split open. Ugh. Silly me.
Oof. Hope the pollen calms down for you guys soon.
How dare that pollen interfere with your SOTD!
yah, pollen is making me cough cough cough! hang in there, Jada! 😉
Samsara for me today. Happy girl 🙂
Gorgeous!
Bliss!
Mmmmm you smell lovely!
You do smell wonderful
Thank you, all! This perfume is so beautiful and I’m glad I gave it another try as the older version really works for me.
The older version is the bomb. You smell lovely!
Beautiful scent.
Ahh, taking a little break from playing catch-up at work…so I can play catch-up at NST! I traveled to the central coast of California last week and it was just unbearably gorgeous. All the hills were green and the wildflowers were in full bloom. We drove out to Carrizo Plain and the ground was fully carpeted in yellow wildflowers that filled the air with a smell like honey. It was so quiet there that we could hear the birds’ wings flapping over our heads. I even made my sister pull the car over so I could hop out and sniff a Cistus plant, lol. She has a lemon tree in bloom in her backyard that I kept sneaking out and sniffing gratuitously. Oh oh and we went to Pismo Beach and saw a SEA OTTER in the wild!! I could keep going. That trip was just the thing my soul needed after a bleak midwestern winter.
SOTD is Corsica Furiosa from the swapmeet. It smells like freshly-snapped stems and has a vague, almost-powderiness that reminds me of No. 19. In the drydown I smell something resinous that might be labdanum or mastic. Love it.
That trip sounds wonderful!
That all sounds so nice. Anxiously awaiting spring over here, as soon as I think we’re there, I have frost on my windshield again. Give me that lemon tree!!!
Isn’t Corsica Furiosa fabulous?! I was in Napa last spring, and while it was a very brief season there, it was spectacular. I went flower crazy, snapping photos of all kinds of blooms. I love being in a spot that’s so quiet you can hear the wind whispering through grasses and trees. Glad your soul got a nice reprieve from the dreary midwestern winter. I remember those winters, and they were not fun.
two thumbs up for spring in CA! 😀
I love the Central coast! Glad you had a great time!
Your trip sounds so fabulous. Happy you had a wonderful time!
What a great break from the iron grip of a Midwest winter!
Your trip sounds so great! And Corsica Furiosa is a really nice one.
Strongly considered not coming in to work today. It would have been so easy to just stay home and play with the new Criterion Channel instead, but I’m powering through. SOTD is Diptyque Essences Insensees Rose de Mai.
Powering through work when all you want to do is hide at home twins.
same! that makes 3 of us 🙂
I’m also looking forward to diving into the Criterion Channel.
SOTD is the original Jessica McClintock, allergies are acting up and my head feels like it’s about to split open.
Next time, I’ll pick something discreet to dab on.
I remember that one!
I wore it to work and my boss told it was too much and not to wear that perfume again
Oh wow, I think McClintock is stronger than I realized. But it’s such a pretty scent.
Another nose-buster is Good Girl Gone Bad by Killian. Just one spritz lasts the entire day on me and my hubby sneezes like crazy when I wear it.
So sorry about your headache. You do smell lovely. JM at one time was a signature scent for me. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks lillyjo!
I looked at the notes on Fragrantica, it has the spicy/green & black currant note that I adore.
Feel better! My son has called twice from school, hoping I’ll pick him up because he has a sinus headache. Gotta teach him how to power thru and get school done. (I will start him on Claritin tonight though!)
Have you tried Flonase? It’s so bad that’s not working for me. I would try Benadryl but then I’d be asleep at my desk…
My coworker thinks it’s funny to send videos of pollen clouds. What a comedian! *not*
Yuck on the allergies!
Friends, I am having a sudden and tempestuous love affair with galbanum! After years of merely tolerating it, an epiphany. What happened was I happened upon a heavily discounted Parfum de Feuilles candle, which is lovely, and it’s sitting in the corner of my living room. For weeks it’s been occasionally wafting a wallop of tomato-stem-galbanum at me when I walk past (even when unlit) and somehow this added up to critical mass last night when I suddenly realized I wanted nay NEEDED the largest dose of galbanum I could get. I lit the candle in the bathroom, dug out an old Silences mini I had planned to give away (what a fool I had been!), and dumped some in the bath. My galbanum romance had truly begun.
Anyway I’m wearing Magie Noire today.
Great choice for a romance! I just sampled Papillon Dryad the other day and the opening burst of galbanum was swoon-worthy!
Oh, I love this!!! ????
How funny! I’ve had a similar experience with lavender. For the longest time, I thought it smelled nice enough, but then last summer I got hit with a very sudden, full-on craving for it.
Congratulations. My relationship with galbanum went from dislike to “OK, I guess we can spend some time together… but not too often.” Enjoy Silences. 🙂
Sudden and tempestuous love affairs are often the best kind….even if they don’t involve vanilla. ?
Oh, I adore galbanum – you smell delightful, Magie Noire is such an elegant beauty!
Do you like Bandit?
You know, I DO like Bandit but it always fell short of other vintagey leathers I love because too much galbanum! I will have to give it another go, great suggestion.
If you can find Bandit in extrait formulation, try it. It has more galbanum (to my nose).
I wish I could put a heart next to all these comments, it’s nice to have a place where people understand!
I love it when that happens! Galbanum and greens were an original love but I’ve sort of fallen off that horse- except Dryad, of which I’m hoarding my sample.
Every year it seems like a new obsession reveals itself: this year it’s neroli/orange blossom/leather, last year was LOTV and incense. But they all fade away, sigh…
So true and why I try to never buy more than 10 ml of anything!
I try to remind myself of that, but I don’t always listen, lol.
I am having an orange blossom moment! Any loves?
Wearing Estee Lauder’s Beautiful, and really enjoying it for spring.
That’s another classic that doesn’t get so many mentions here. And don’t think I have ever seen a mention of Beautiful Belle.
Beautiful is a lovely (and underappreciated) scent.
Good morning friends, no Platonic ideals today, but I am in the very lovely JM Oat and Cornflower from the swapmeet 🙂 It does remind me a lot of Honey & Crocus. I like H&C better, but this one is very beautiful too. It’s like the most delicious, foody bowl of oatmeal ever, maybe with a nice dollop of ground hazelnuts and spoonfuls of brown sugar, being eaten on a warm field. Yum yum, this whole line is great.
Sounds delicious!
Oat and cornflower is my favourite of the series and I am about to finish my bottle. To me the scent is like a classic NZ biscuit called “Krispie” ( not to be confused with rice crispies ) made from vanilla, oats and dessicated coconut. The coconut gets toasted during baking Which adds a slightly caramelised warmth to the whole smell. I think Oat and Cornflower is my favourite foody scent
Kanuka, that sounds delicious! Any treat that tastes the way O&C smells would be very yummy.
I wish I was drinking tea masala but just wearing it in perfume form SOTD Omnia
Is there any difference between tea masala and chai tea?
Layers of Guerlain today. Shalimar powder with a few sprays of Pamplelune.
Nice!
Jour d’Hermes Absolu which is very rhubarby today. Loving it and happy to have a decant from the swap meet ?
Love that one! So radiant.
It is!
I bought a violet coloured chubby stick yesterday ( they didn’t have raisin) so thanks for the tip.
?? Though after I posted it I googled a bit and Fuller Fig was compared to Black Honey. Violet sounds promising…
Yay for swap meets!
Mitsouko. Just because it was a Mitsouko kinda day.
I can honestly say I’ve never had a Mitsouko day. I just can’t wrap my head around that one- but hey, more for you! 😀
I think I am accidentally on theme wearing Onyrico Empireo, at least when it comes to the idea behind it:
“Dante Alighieri, the greatest Italian poet, author of the “Divina Commedia”, one of the masterpieces of world literature, described symbolically, with the image of the White Rose of Paradise, the manifestation of the sublime metaphysical vision.
Mystical flower, feminine symbol of purity and absolute beauty, incarnation of virtuous love that is able to transcend the limits of the human intellect, the white rose is the fresh and clean heart of Empireo, the Onyrico’s fragrance dedicated to Dante’s poem.”
However, I can smell no rose in it so far. Soft, slightly powdery vanilla-benzoin-tonka scent. But I agree that it smells fresh and kind of clean. Not stunning, but nice.
Ha, so the mystical flower symbol of feminine purity just smells fresh and clean, that is funny!
Well, fresh and clean kind of fits the idea of Dante’s platonic love for Beatrice. 🙂
It’s a nice scent, just kind of tame – cleaned and softened oriental.
I also tried another Onyrico scent, Tau, which I found more interesting.
Fair enough!
Trying out Brooklyn and Istanbul, not Constantinople ?, today from Gallivant. Brooklyn is of course a borough vs. a city but why split hairs.
I am enjoying them both. And Istanbul has delivered some vanilla as others promised it would yesterday. Whew. ?
Ha ha re Constantinople! When I was a teen, my best friend and I would grumble about being asked to do something along the lines of “I was just about in Upper Volta when I finally found what she asked me for…” Burkino Faso, while a perfectly nice name, definitely does not communicate the same eye-roll, teen exasperation.
We could do a perfume project of geographical / city names that no longer exist or have changed eg. Bombay Bling etc
Interesting idea!
Partial scent twins today! I thought of you right after I tried Istanbul. Plenty of vanilla there, IMO.
Bottega Veneta Eau de Velours on this blustery day. I’ll be working the next two days and then I’m taking a week off for spring break with my daughters. They’re 11 & 13 and happily tag along on sniffing expeditions (as rare as they are). We’re going to spend a couple of days in San Francisco and I’m thinking about taking them sniffing in Tigerlilly or ZGO but I’m not sure which–I’d love any suggestions/opinions! It’ll be great to get a chance to sniff a few things and purchase some samples in person.
No experience with Tigerlily but I can say ZGO is fantastic!
Thanks Tiffanie, I’m looking forward to browsing in person instead of online! Enjoy your Terracotta Wednesday–you smell like vacation!
thank you, Catasnosmia! ?
Ditto – Never been to to Tigerlily (but planning on going someday)- ZGO has a lot of stuff, but I’ve never found them very friendly (though not necessarily unfriendly either. Just indifferent). They do carry the Mariages Freres tea line, though!
We daughters are exactly the same age and do NOT happily tag along on sniffing expeditions… 🙁
I feel VERY fortunate that mine haven’t decided I’m too uncool to be seen with (yet). I’ve been expecting it for the past couple of years but they still find me as interesting as I find them.
Thanks for weighing in. I can deal with indifferent but I avoid unfriendly!
Definitely not unfriendly, but indifferent. You could consider this a plus as you can sniff to your heart’s content.
Also, there are at least 2 people working there and one is quite a bit more enthusiastic. Plus, the tea, and they carry Parfums de Nicolai.
They are only 10 minutes apart and could easily be tackled in the same afternoon.
That sounds like a plan!! Thanks 🙂
Yes, you can hit both… went to ZGO a few weeks ago. You should also hit Tartine for something yummy. No affiliation…I enjoy good food. ?
https://www.yelp.com/biz/tartine-bakery-and-cafe-san-francisco
Enjoy your trip & sniffing expeditions! I hope that you come across some wonderful things.
Continuing with violets this week in TDC’s I Miss Violet. This perfume makes me think of triangle cucumber and butter sandwiches, scones, jam, and clotted cream, and of course Earl Grey tea. I, on the other hand, am off to combine some mixture of vegetables and fruits in the blender never meant to be eaten together in nature.
LOL! ? Enjoy your smoothy. Your perfume sounds nice too.
I hope it’s not making you hungry. Well, considering your very healthy meal.
Did you get the dreaded work finished? My turn to have the sinking feeling today…ugh
Not hardly. This’ll be a slog. I am hoping to finish my first draft over the weekend. I have adopted a ‘fake it til I’ve written it’ attitude, which is at least getting words on the page, if not very coherent or interesting words.
Sometimes, when I am struggling , I adopt a very personal ‘just say what I think’ for the first draft rather than a ‘say what sounds intellectual/authoritative/corporate’ and that always seems to help. It takes the weight off the exercise of putting ‘important thoughts’ into words and usually conveys what I need to say far more simply and effectively (and I can tweak it in the second draft). Good luck though.
This whole post made me laugh. And want a cucumber sammy lol.
Chose Rosam from Histoires de Parfums for today because when I woke up it was -2*C!
Yikes! I would have assumed my thermometer was broken.
Sitting here with some very strong coffee.
Yesterday I got up at 3, flew to Houston, gave a presentation, flew home. 21 hour day. It was really hot ( to me anyway) in Texas, then really freezing on the plane and then sooooo windy when I drove home from airport last night.
I wore JM cade and cedarwood for the day. Today is workout, shower, drink lots of water and maybe wear a aura of fatigue.
Excellent name for—crumbs what was it called? The terrible perfume prose contest that Robin would do from time to time?
Anyway, you can imagine the notes for the perfume ‘Aura D’fatigue’: cistus, hay, musk, musk, musk.
kind of like Imaginary Authors An Air of Despair but different!
ha! that’s perfect 😉 I love perfume names, wordplay always makes me smile.
And the wind last night was incredible here too! whoosh, it rattle the windows in their frames.
yep, it was a bumpy landing at LAX that’s for sure.
I did manage to spray some box of eels on rather than go commando.
Wow, that was quite the day yesterday!
I am telling ya, I am no spring chicken:)
Whoo, that made me tired reading about your day yesterday! ? And what is it about freezing cold airplanes?
Same, wore me right out!
Currently at Top Pot drinking scalding hot coffee and eating an Apple Fritter which I DO NOT need. Delicious though, and the view ain’t half bad either. Sporting Jaisalmer as I watch ships pass by on Puget Sound bound for who knows where…
Love this area, the laid back life, and the friendly people. Yesterday I saw an ad for a one bedroom rental, utilities not included, for $1700/month. ??
I guess the laid back lifestyle doesn’t come cheap! You smell great!
No kidding! Redonculous!
I guess cheap is relative cuz that made me think “wow, maybe I should move there”!
Really?! How much would something like that go for in NYC? It didn’t state square footage, so I’m not sure how large/small…
Depends where and how big and who owns it, but in my hood it’d be at least 2,100 on the lower end with no amenities. I’ve seen 1 BRs listed for 3k. A studio might be in the 1,900 range. It’s out of control.
We moved to this hood in 2000 when it was not a desirable and a little sketchy and our 1.5 BR was $1550 then.
Sounds like someone may be putting down some roots…
Oh, he** NO! I love being able to go wherever whenever. I’ll park right here and enjoy everything gratis, thank you very much. I will admit to a solid love for the PNW though…
Speaking for myself and (completely without permission) all my fellow PNWers, we love you too … and when (someday) you are done with Alaska and decide to come “home”, we will welcome you back with open arms. 🙂
And this is why I love the PNW! ?
A San Franciscan would see $1700 and say “wow, half price!” Very, very sad but true.
A 1700 dollar monthly mortgage would get you a mighty fine house around here. Most people, myself included could never afford that though.
Ditto here lillyjo. I was comparing about my mortgage )which $800 and some small change), then I really started looking at rents/newer mortgages and just about died. I’ll never complain about it again, I can tell you that…!
Me again: do people there have really good jobs? Or is the minimum wage super high?
I don’t know whether they’re “good” jobs (frankly they seem mostly useless to me) but they’re sure high-paying jobs. Don’t be envious — the cost of living (as in housing) is just nuts. Lots of us could never afford to live here if we hadn’t already been here for years.
Ditto this, but my salary isn’t rising at the same rate as the cost of living.
This is exactly why there is such a huge population of working and nonworking homeless on the west coast. I don’t know anyone who can single handedly afford a rent like that. Just read an article about Seattle modeling itself after Vancouver BC… BC has a huge population or van/rv dwellers because no one can afford rent or mortgages, but is apparently the “Hip City” to live in. Seems like the aspirations a bit skewed ?
Wow, $1700 for one bedroom sounds rather steep to me. Then again, we have been in our townhouse for almost 20 years now. I haven’t had to worry about what current rents are.
1700 IS steep! I agree with you.
Over $20k in RENT?! Gasp. I don’t have kids but I can’t see how my niece and nephew will ever own until they inherit. It’s so out of whack. The tragedy is that it didn’t used to be like that here. It was normal once.
To clarify: I have a mortgage on the townhouse. Thankfully, I don’t rent.
Yes, I got that. ??
I am wearing Rahele for the first time in many months and loving it.
Also, has anyone sniffed the newish L’Occitane scent Terre de Lumiere? A friend of mine mentioned it to me recently but didn’t describe it. She just said it was nice. What’s that supposed to mean? ?
I have but it’s been awhile. I recall it being a fleurmand-ish thing. Like J’Adore-ish but with more vanilla/tonka/caramel or something like that.
Oh, wow. Me no like J’Adore. Apologies to those that do. I’m surprised she liked it. That is not her usual style either. Hmmm..
All I remember is that I did NOT like the drydown. It went on nice enough, but then it hovered for hours as something sort of edible and sort of chemical. BUT I always have trouble with gourmands . . . I had the almost the same issue with Mon Guerlain.
It doesn’t necessarily smell the same bit similar genre. I could be remembering that part wrong, but I don’t like prominent vanilla or sweet foody notes so it wasn’t for me either. I think I liked the newer flanker better.
Can’t remember what Terre de Lumiere smells like….but I do have a sample of Herbae that I could send you if you’re in the US! Email me if you’re interested: shelp216 [at] gmail.
Oh gosh, thank you but I’m all set for now. Just idle curiosity about Lumiere because a friend mentioned it.
Ugh I really need to learn my lesson and not try out perfumes for the first time on a work day. I put on Bvlgari Eau The Noir, a decant I got from the swap meet, and it immediately irritated my already touchy sinuses. Headache central this morning. And because I sprayed down my shirt, it’s persisting some there even though I tried to wash it off my skin in the bathroom. I’m thinking it’s the synthetic oud and woody/smoky materials they used.
Other than this disappointing experience, I’ve had some fun nights so far this week. I had a really great time with Deva and T-Rex on Monday night. We walked around the Seattle waterfront and went to the Olympic Sculpture Park. T-Rex is very well behaved and was very popular.
Last night my friend and I went to dinner at a Thai restaurant to celebrate our birthdays. Hers was Monday and mine is tomorrow. Unlike typical Thai restaurants, this one specializes in Northeastern cuisine. We had some amazing meatballs, an eggplant dish, glass noodles in a clay pot, and rice, greens, and pork belly wirh a fried egg. It was probably the best fried egg I’ve ever had.
I’m also dealing with eczema above my lip and on my upper lip for the first time. Any tips or advice is appreciated.
Happy birthday one day early!
Jealous of you meeting Deva and T-Rex.
Sorry about the eczema but I don’t have any suggestions.
Thanks!
Blergh, eczema!! I once had a minor flareup on my eyelids, of all places. My treatment of choice is to put on a layer of heavy moisturizer (Eucerin is good), then top it off with a layer of a thick protective balm like aquaphor (or maybe pure shea butter if you, like me, try to avoid petrolatum). If it’s bad enough, a dermatologist could prescribe you a topical steroid cream.
Thanks for the advice. Luckily it’s not too bad, but it’s still kinda painful and is bringing my mood down. And I finally stopped putting lipstick on over it when I realized it wasn’t getting any better. I miss my lipstick!
I have had good results with zinc based creams, like nappy rash creams. Some have an antiseptic . I will search out the german brand.
Bepanthen. Itwas really good and It is good for areas that may be moist, like around lips.
Thanks, I just looked it up and I may give it a try if the eczema persists. I’m so glad I asked you guys!
yeah, it was the sensicalm range
Happy Birthday, a day early! That Thai food sounds delish! ✌?
Thanks! The food was so good. I’m already thinking about my next meal there.
Happy Early Birthday! I’ve had eczema/dry spots around the eye area and had good luck with OTC hydrocortisone cream. I let a tiny dab sink in and then applied a really good moisturizer.
Thanks, I’m using hydrocortisone cream right now. I just want it to clear up fast, but that’s probably out of my control.
Sorry for your Eau The Noir experience – I feel responsible!
Re. Eczema, a balm/cream with Propolis might be a good idea, too.
Oh, please don’t! It’s so not your fault. And I really enjoyed the L’Heure Bleue I got from you and wore yesterday.
Thanks for the propolis idea!
Yuck in the headache and eczema. I’m a fan of hydrocortisone for a few days for faster resolution, but I use borage seed oil (I buy it in capsule form because I also take it as a supplement). I’ve used it on my cat because she gets rashy around her mouth and it clears up lickity split! I’ve used it on me for a couple of small reddish flaky patches (not sure what it is) on my upper arm and it helps. It’s high in gamma-linoleic acid which is supposed to be anti-inflammatory.
Thanks, I’ll look into that!
That food sounds downright amazing! Happy early birthday! And I agree with hajusuuri- jealous you got to hang with Deva and T-Rex!
Thank you! I highly recommend to see out the Northeastern Thai cuisine. The region of this restaurant is called Issan.
I’m very glad you have met Deva and T-Rex. ?
I wasn’t very clear but meant that the restaurant I went to specified it was Issan inspired food.
That Thai food sounded so good, it made my mouth water! I hope that you are feeling better now than you were earlier today.
SOTD = Mugler Angel Muse
Angel Muse is the platonic ideal of an Angel flanker: unmistakeably Angel but with an added note (hazelnut) that stands out on its own.
I had no time to take a picture for IG and I was going to select a photo from previous travels to take its place. For some reason, I kept looking for alien-like items that are shaped like the bottle because the Angel Muse bottle looks like a science experiment gone wrong but I like it anyway. I found a few possibilities then realized I should have been looking for an angel or a muse ?
I e-filed my federal return yesterday and need to follow up with the payment, an additional form (for selling stock) and read up on Estimated Tax (The quarterly amount is ridiculous! NJ taxes are done and I just need to mail it. Mom’s is next!
Hey Hajusuuri, my gold gilded pages of perfume porn arrived in the mail today. I am so looking forward to reading it!!!
LOL. It is a thing of beauty. It feels good on the hands. Enjoy. I will allow myself an additional peek later today. I still have tax prep work to do for my mom.
Angel Muse is a delicious flanker, I’m working on taxes too, and kudos to you for helping mom 😀
Thank you. I keep telling myself I should wear it more often.
Angel Muse is so good. I love it. I love the bottle haha.
It’s really good and a little bit goes a long way. My 30mLs will last me pretty much forever!
Clever choice!
It’s a great flanker. I’ve tried it recently and I think I prefer it to Angel.
Same!
I like your take on the Platonic Ideal! It smells great, too. ?
Thank you!
Lutens Bas de Soie, which just might be tied with Hiris for my ideal iris. I’ve tried carrot-y Iris 39 and root-y Iris Silver Mist, but the Lutens is just right. Floral but not powdery; green but not sneezy; soft but not fleeting or too sweet.
It is my favourite iris too. I love it .
Still digging out from the move over the weekend from San Diego to Montréal. I am wearing vintage Dune.
Welcome back to Canada!
Thank you! Despite being greeted by freezing rain and snow, it’s good to be back.
You smell good! I hope you get your shoulder (or was it elbow) pain resolved!
The shoulder is all better now, it fixed itself without a trip to the doctor. 🙂
So glad you are feeling better.
Trying a bit of the Kyse Bonbons a la Vanille you gave me as I didn’t get quite enough vanilla earlier today. ? pretty good…thanks!
I am meeting a friend in the bitanic gardens today. We are like Darby and Joan….we both arrive with a thermos ( me coffee, her tea) and go and sit on a bench in our warm coats and watch the world go by while we talk about poetry and writing . The only spoiler is that she smokes ( but these meetings need a slight irritant) and I always end up picking up the butt that she seems to think ‘ doesn’t count’ as litter ( this is a pet hate of mine and I gave her a 1950s enamel pocket ashtray/ compact last time we met so today might be different). Wearing Boucheron because smokers can’t dictate the terms.
I had to look up Darby and Joan–a cultural reference that never made it to California? Your description of your trip to the botanical garden reminded me of the Paul Simon song/poem “Old Friends” which he wrote when he was in his 20s. Now that he’s in his mid 70s, I wonder how the melancholy words strike him. Old friends, cigarettes and coffee tumblers (or as too often in my friends’ cases– tethered to their mobile phones, gluten free, and post divorces and mastectomies) aside, are always a promise of a good laugh, good talk, and shedding a few years–at least momentarily. Enjoy your day and the Boucheron.
That song breaks my heart, Oakland Fresca. It was always bittersweet but with my parents gone, even more so.
Their early songs and young, pure voices once again assure me I am 16 on the inside.
Sounds like a perfect day, aside from the cigarettes. (It’s a pet peeve of mine, too.) I like nothing better than to go to our local Arboretum with some poetry. Hope you have a wonderful time!
Fascinating… did she use the ashtray you gave her?
Love everything about this post. ❤️
Wearing Secret Obsession, which I think I like better than the original Obsession. It was rainy out this morning, and plum+woods was a good choice to stand up to it.
Secret Obsession was interesting…I didn’t quite love it but it wasn’t dull, which many CK fragrances are these days.
Day 2 stuck in bed with a chest infection and various other nonsense – basically my body has just given up I think. I am wearing scent for the (rather dubious) benefit of TOMK as I cannot smell anything myself.
Waah! Man-flu is the worst, I tell yiz!
Sorry you are feeling so wretched. A long, hot shower, crisp sheets, and gallons of fluids can sometimes make me feel human in such situations, and sometimes not so much!
I hope you feel better soon.
Bletch on the chest cold!
Ugh, so sorry!
Bon rétablissement! Hope it passes quickly.
SotD = Terracotta, shamelessly copying Robin today.
So then, Assam of India for Tuesdays, Terracotta for Wednesdays, Hiris for Thursdays will be my go-to scents for a while. That leaves Mondays and Fridays to be decided, weekends will be wildcards. 😀
What about No. 19 or Cristalle for Mondays?
Chanel for Monday’s, that’s awesome! ??
I’m in Guerlain Vol de Nuit extrait today – it’s pretty much my platonic ideal of perfume … period. So Unbelievably Beautiful. And I’m so lucky to have the privilege of sniffing it anytime I want. Life is good.
I’ve never smelled the extrait but even the EDT is pretty good. The extrait must be amazing.
I am freezing here, despite poking the thermostat up another 3 degrees. I’ve put on some Muscs Koublai Khan to trick myself into believing that I’m covered in furs.
Any chance of a warm up in your temps soon? Or are you in the path of that big storm?
It’s spring in Portland OR, so it’s cold and rainy. Could be worse, a friend of mine is expecting a few inches of snow in NW Minnesota.
We had snow and freezing rain in Montréal.
Ugh! I guess I won’t complain about the rain.
Welcome back home!
Holy cannoli, friends, I need this semester to be over! The minutiae of life is bogging me down.
Time for some perfume therapy. I just applied some Oui Plus, from Kyse Perfume. Graham cracker, marshmallow, cocoa absolute, Peru balsam, patchouli, styrax and a bit of burnt coffee (according to the website). Gourmand haters, stay away. Everybody else, lean in – I smell literally delicious.
I really do not like gourmands, but your description made me smile!
I’ll lean in! I sampled that one once and really enjoyed it! Her bases agree with me 🙂
Baiser Vole Extrait. Perhaps the platonic ideal for a Sunday April fragrance. (Ostara can then be the platonic ideal of Easter Sunday fragrance).
Definitely no need for air conditioning today! It was downright chilly in the house this morning, but it made for a good night’s sleep. I wonder if the cats have figured out that the heat has been turned back on? ???
SOTD = Gallivant Istanbul EdP, from the sample stash. This is mostly vanilla and tonka on me, with a hint of resins and spice.
Istanbul sounds really good! I am loving the cooler weather!
It’s definitely worth a sniff. Not sure it justifies its price, though.
It’s 42 right now, and the wintery mix has arrived here. You made Istanbul sound pretty intriguing.
Oh, no! Sorry to hear that the yucky weather is in your area now. My brother was dealing with that same stuff earlier today.
Istanbul is smelling rather cuddlefluff-ish in the far drydown.
Oh no. Wintry mix? That is very wrong!
We turned the heat off because, April.. hello.. Spring are you there? I put my heating pad on tonight to warm up. It feels great, but I’m not happy that I had to put it on! We had rain the last few days, but it feels sooo cold!
Funny about your cats! Our cat would plunk himself on the heat register when the furnace kicked in. They seem to know where the best spots are.
I’ve learned to ignore what the calendar says for turning various functions on and off. There have been years where it was warm enough to have the A/C on until Halloween!
And it’s funny how every cat seems to find the warmest spot(s) in the house, no matter where it is. When the heat was off, one cat was spending most of her time upstairs in the sunniest room, sleeping in a sunbeam.
I have a sun kitty too. He loves to sleep in sunny spots.
SJP Covet today. One of my all time favorite cheapies.
That has a wonderful green lemon note in it. ?
What a day, y’all. I need a stiff drink. My hubs has the flu and is running a high fever, thus I had to take Nacho to the vet to be neutered and also pick him up this evening when we had planned for my husband to do it. So I will be trying to keep him sedated and still all night (the dog, not the husband). It’s been a sh**show at work today and I really need to work late but don’t see that happening since I have to pick up the dog by 5:00.
Oh, guess I should mention perfume haha. I’m in Nirvana White for no other reason that it was the closest thing to grab when I was running out the door this morning! Gin….vodka…whiskey, who knows. But one of those is going to be drank tonight lol. 😥
Yikes! I hope husband will improve quickly and that the dog recovers nicely. I felt very badly for ours when he got neutered and he seemed in a good bit of pain but he wasn’t any trouble to deal with or keep still (I assume yours will be on painkillers etc. so perhaps pretty drugged anyway).
Oh no! I hope your husband feels better soon, your dog recovers quickly and tomorrow is just a nice normal day for you. Phew!
I hope things get better for you soon. All that stress. 🙁
Wow, that’s rough! Hope that Nacho puppy and your hubby are feeling better soon.
At least hubby doesn’t have to wear the cone of shame like Nacho! ?Hope they both are feeling better soon!
Yikes! Hope hubby feels better soon and Nacho gets back to normal soon too!
Wishing you a calm night, KellyC
That’s a crazy day! Hope your guys are feeling better soon.
Hope the guys feel better soon and you escape unscathed!
Joining you in badly needing a cocktail, although I never did get one. Sounds like your day was even worse than mine though…hope you have a peaceful evening!
Hang in there, KellyC! Hope you had a fee moments to relax at the end of your day ?
Joining the bad sinus crowd today. I just wore bbw almond blossom body lotion today.
Ugh. Sounds like it is sneezing season for a lot of folks. Feel better ASAP! ?
I hope you feel better tomorrow and your weather improves. It’s hard to wear perfume when your sinuses hurt. Take care!
Put on some Datura Noir tonight as it was mentioned here earlier this week.
Lovely! A friend of mine recently intoduced me to DN. I thought that I didn’t like tuberose but I’ve changed my mind. You smell great!
Thank you! I think it was you who nudged me along today!
Its a good one; I’m finding the tuberose kind of toned down with the almond.
