Tuesday, and 50 days until the end of winter. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Comme des Garçons Red Play, although the cherry part is gone before you know it. Tea at the moment is a Mangalam Estate Assam from Upton.
Reminder: on 2/1, we'll celebrate Cherry Month...wear a fragrance with a cherry or cherry blossom note.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Cherry Blossom Teapot is part of a bone china series from Tealogic. You can find the 0.4 litre version for £25 at Imperial Teas in the UK.
POTL Luctor Et Emergo. Only a small sample. It reminds me of Christmas. I wonder if I received my sample originally at that time of year.
Interesting! It does not remind me of Christmas but I’m sure there’s a reason.
Hurrah for Tuesday! It’s my only day off, and therefore my favorite day of the week. It’s also in the teens, so am wearing Rossy de Palma as fortification against the cold. I don’t have any cherry perfumes in my collection, but am thinking I might like to have some. Am making notes of scents to try this week. That’s a beautiful teapot- it makes me wish that I had more cabinet space and reasons to pull out fine china. Am currently drinking Assam from Taylors of Harrogate from a HydroFlask thermos. Not exactly fine china, but reliable and the little happy person logo makes me smile.
Enjoy your day off!
Thank you!
Enjoy your day off!
Thanks, Dawn! Glad to see you’re getting some time off, too.
Casmir from a generous NSTer and Thunk!
Russian smoked tea
I have jury duty mañana , I want to see if I can get out of it since I have 2 little ones
Also a non perfume related question
My hair is normally naturally curly but the winter all the curls are gone despite how much scrunching I do. Can anyone recommend any curl rollers they use? I know its a bit old fashioned but I think it will help
Is your hair long? The best thing I found for restoring curl, was getting long layers. As far as curlers, I’ve not found anything better than the old fashioned pink foam ones.
Shoulder length
Ok, I will look for pink foam ones. Thank you so much
I got out of jury duty once because I was breastfeeding. Best of luck!?
Also, you smell great!
Good luck with jury duty!
I am hunkered down in the polar vortex with ONE BORED MUTT and have declared Rose Day: Stella (intense) on my left arm and Marni on my right. Will move on later to two of the Tauer roses.
Initial thoughts: Curious to know how Stella Intense compares to the original (I’ve never smelled it that I recall) and newly impressed with the expansive niche-quality vibe of Marni. Not sure why I don’t wear it more often….
I am very sorry for those of you stuck in or waiting for the polar vortex, dreadful. Maybe you can hide favourite toys or a bit of kibble for your mutt? I often hide things and my dogs loves it (she always finds it, and I don’t make it easy for her).
Great idea. I tried to get her to do the NYT crossword, but even the Monday was too difficult for my otherwise smartypants pooch. Thanks for the suggestion!
Too hard for me too. But I bet I could find any squeaky toys you hide.
Cheering on your mutt from Oakland, CA!
Enjoy your Rose Day!
I wish Marni would do more fragrances.
Yep. A pretty rare thing to think about a designer fragrance line! I usually wish they’d do so much less….
Exactly.
Montale Aoud Velvet which oddly enough does smell a little like cherry; I think it’s the saffron.
Wearing Guerlain LPRN today for the cherry note – fun and cheerful on this cold dreary day but I don’t think I need more once this sample is gone.
that will be my Friday pick
I’m wearing LADDM.
You smell so good.
LADDM is fabulous.
Perfect.
Twins!
I don’t like cherry, so it’s Assam of India today, thanks to a wonderful swapper!
Bracing for the polar vortex to descend tonight and tomorrow.
I’m beginning to think of the polar vortex as one of the bad guys in a Marvel film.
🙂
You smell great!
I’ve been up since 5 am for no good reason other than I can’t sleep. Another snow day here. I will be going out at some point to get more groceries. I’m just wearing a pumpkin spice lotion from ULTA. I don’t even like it. Lol. Nice teapot.
“I don’t even like it.” Lol.? lillyjo, you crack me up.
Good! If I don’t smell good, and I don’t, the next best thing is being able to laugh???
We are sorta twins because I woke up at 3 and had a lot of trouble falling back asleep, which is rare for me. Hope we both make it through the day!
Maybe we can sneak in a nap.
Also woke up, my clock read 3:33!!! Could not fall asleep again and now i am tired. Hope tomorrow will be better for the three of us
It’s so weird to see that time, it always freaks me out.
That’s awful. I feel for you. I’ve been sleeping poorly due to work stress. I hope tonight is better and the snow goes away quickly!
By Saturday it’s supposed to be 32 degrees. I can’t wait!
Hope you are feeling okay today. Wish i coukd share some of our sun with you.
Thank you. I called my 84 year old aunt to express my concern. She laughed at me and said “it’s weather! It comes, and it goes” lol, but she’s right. I’m still deciding if I will brave the road conditions tommorow for work.
I’m heading onto the same weather roller coaster that you are already on lillyjo. Nasty cold for the next couple of days, and then 50’s are predicted for next week. Crazy!!
Feeling very comfortable in Sacrebleu while test driving Tardes from Carner Barcelona.
Love Sacrebleu!
I’m wearing Clinique’s Beyond Rose, in a pathetic attempt to recover from the loss of Rossy di Parma samples. I might have to go FB, although this is not a good time. And this is not meant to belittle Beyond Rose. I think for a few years it was available only in Europe, and I was very happy to see it here. But my heart belongs to Rossy.
I heard from the SA at Twisted Lily that Rossy is being discontinued ? So, now would ne the time…
Spellbound today. Vintage. It may startle horses but I love it. Like rolling up in a big blanket and nothing else by the fire. I sure do love clove….
Rock that Spellbound!
Yay, thanks! It settles really beautifully but I love that fiery carnation.
Wow, that sounds wonderful.
It’s big and fruity and clovey. But it’s great.
I don’t have any cherry scents so I am doing rose week. Today is Oha, a favorite that I have been rediscovering since going through my collection.
You smell gooooood
Same here. No cherry scent, so rose week it is ( not that I need an excuse). Mohur extrait for me today. I have finally grown to love it, which is not good for my wallet…
Aroma M Geisha Noire just because it’s fab!
Yes it is! It reminds me of Shalimar. ?
Which is one of the reasons I love it!
Quick question for those who are organized- do you organize your samples by house name, perfume name, what type of fragrance it is, etc? I am getting a new organizer and I cannot decide how I want to group them!
I reorganized mine recently. My categories are. Loves, likes, retrys, and ones I wouldn’t miss. Lol
I pretty much focus on what works for me personally, and I’m sure that differs for everyone. Since I might not always recall the house, I eliminated that. Since I don’t keep a spreadsheet for individual perfume impressions by name, I eliminated that. I used to have several groups: Classics, Love, Retry and Mix. Now I only want to have what I love. Mixing won’t happen, retry was because I was rushing, classics are for reference but winnowed down to loves. Loves go into a separate pile and onto my wish list of infinity which I no longer feel pressed to fulfill. If I’m not currently in love with something, I put it aside to donate.
I organize samples by house for the most part, in tiny ziplock bags. For those where I only have one sample from a given house, I group by predominant note (e.g., iris, leather, citrus, etc.). And as-yet-untested samples sit in a couple of Chinese teacups from a set my parents gave me eons ago, completely ungrouped.
You do smell fab!
I have a bit of this on the way from the freebiemeet. Can’t wait to try it!
It’s become one of my favorites. And my husband (ha, weird saying that!) always comments on how good it smells, which is saying a lot because he only comments on things he really likes.
In Irisistible again, having been monogamous for weeks now, only cheated last Sunday with Chamade as I was longing for Spring.
In the weekend, I started rearranging my perfume closet and discovered an old lost love lurking in the back: Cartier’s Le Baiser du Dragon. How could I have neglected this beauty? It must have been in 2012 that it was recommended to me and I acquired a tiny sample, probably edt. Shortly after, I think it was discontinued. I couldn’t find it anywhere, until a search turned three still-in-box testers of the pure parfum on a Dutch discount site. The price was great and so I took a chance and ordered one. It was LOVE! I immediately ordered the other two, which I still have in a dark, cool closet in sealed boxes.
I’ve fallen in love all over again! I know this is a scent many dislike, including Luca Turin, but there are a great many fans, too. This is my third day of wearing it and it is just wonderful! It is aptly named, as you need to survive the first blast of the dragon’s breath, which is harsh and most people would rush to scrub it off. After about five minutes, it slowly begins to morph into the kiss. After about twenty minutes, it is already lovely, but it lasts the whole day on my skin and just gets softer and lovelier. Not my usual Middle Eastern bomb! This has patchouli, but it’s soft and gentle, along with almonds and amber. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I smell wonderful!
Typo: should have been “turned up”. It was the beginning of 2013 that I found these bottles for sale.
I forgot to mention vanilla and boozyness.
Love this story! So you are still on the first bottle after all these years? You do need to wear it more!
I am in Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velours. Sample thunk! I like it a lot, so it went to my perpetual full bottle shopping list. I am sure it will stay there forever.
Not sure if I have any cherry or cherry blossom scents, except for the old B&BW Cherry Blossom or Japanese Cherry Blossom, both EdP that I don’t wear these days. I will then focus on finishing more samples this week.
Keep on thunkin’ !!!!
?
That teapot is beautiful! Today I’m wearing Cuir Ottoman. It’s the first time I’ve worn it this Winter and I’m loving it. It is such a great scent.
You smell soooo good!
Hi all, I’m in YSL Black Opium today because I thought it was my sample of Guerlain Black Perfecto. Instead of cherry yumminess, I’ve been engulfed in sweetness. (“It smells like candy,” says the boyfriend.) Well, there goes a sample to the giveaway pile.
Hope you’re well! Last night brought a new infuriation at work. I really need to whip that resume of mine into shape.
I think you smell great?
Thanks, lillyjo! I did end up sticking my nose in my sweater at one point, and my sweater smelled better than my skin had.
Sorry about work Koyel! And sending good thoughts to your dad.
Thanks for the very kind thoughts, Robin <3
Friday’s coming! And at least you won’t accidentally grab Black Opium again…
This is true! But will I find my sample of Black Perfecto? Or will I have to spray myself down with something almond-y and just say that almond and cherry have many overlapping scents?
Right now, I am in day 4 off a 5 day stretch of being off. It’s the joy of retail after the holidays. I am in Lyric and will switch to Epic when I take my shower. I just made a Sephora run and grabbed a couple lip glosses and one of them was a mini set.
Enjoy your days off!
Tuesday!
1) Super early morning Pilates & cardio to warm up this chilly morning! But not as chilly as it is back east!
2) Am in Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere over Fresh Cream shower gel& Carol’s Daughter Butter Cream body butter. So I now understand why these scents are so light and in the eau de toilette formulation: these scents are really made for touch ups and casual wear, more like body sprays really.
3) Did not buy the fridge from yesterday- did not fit the space!
Too bad about the fridge!
Back to work after a 12 day staycation. I was really getting used to spending my days in sweatpants, lol, but it feels good to back into a routine.
I’m in the work friendly Vanille Insensee.
Smelling good ???
Mmmmmmm my favorite vanilla. Dry and sophisticated
31 Rue Cambon
And figured out how to make eau de Merveilles last and smell on my wacky skin….by adding a few drops of frankincense essential oil.
You smell so elegant in 31 Rue Cambon!
I miss Eau des merveilles. Its been a while since I emptied my travel mini, but I still dont own a bottle….
And thats just weird, because its the least expensive and easiest-to-get bottle on my wish list. Haha.
Thank you!!! this is new for me…a good friend sent me a large decant of it (EDT and it looks vintage because the juice is somewhat dark)…it’s so beautiful…it’s listed as a powdery woody fragrance but to my nose it smells very very green.
The Eau des Merveilles is a large bottle…I have made a huge dent in it (half way done) because I do a massive amount of sprays in order to smell it at all. But since adding the frankincense (I made a decant and then added the oil) it seems to smell with much less application).
31 rue cambon feels green powdery to me.
Woody not so much, but my brain only classifies a scent as ‘woody’ when it smells like eh yeah a wood or a sawmill 😉
from what I read on fragrantica everyone talks about the iris and the powder and some wood facets…I get the green but not the powder (but that must be the iris my nose isn’t honing in on)…I love it …it’s very rich and luxurious. I have a feeling that my son might be stealing it from me soon because he has now twice remarked that it smells good…this is what happens when I wear things repeatedly..the little three marzipans decide they like it and then end up “borrowing” it indefinitely 🙂
The little Marzipans have good taste 🙂
I wonder how the new edp compares to the edt.
I have a small decant of the edt…and I like it a lot but I havent tried the edp yet.
Maybe someone here knows..?
They inherited the perfume bug from me 🙂
I think from what I read, most folks prefer the EDT over the EDP on many of the Exclusives…I have never tried the EDP so I can’t really compare.
Good for you for making Eau des Merveilles finally work!
🙂
CdG Black. I’m already trying to decide what will be my SOTD tomorrow to accompany the frigid temps. ??♂️
You smell great.
You smell awesome (I wore it last weekend….i love it but I have a hunch my husband will wear it better)
Couldn’t resist Diptyque Volutes this morning.
Good pick!
I’m wearing Louve today and feared I might gas the other people on the elevator at work because it’s so strong–you know, I’m associating this almond bomb with cyanide. I tried to tamp it down with a spray of Perris Monte Carlo Patchouli Nosy Be but probably just made things worse! Good luck to the many people in the north who are bracing for the incredible cold temperatures. It sounds just dreadful.
Heh Louve is one of the first samples I just straight up threw away after I tried it once.
I actually do have enough perfumes with a cherry or cherry blossom note to wear a different one every day this week (including the sample I thunked yesterday). Today I’m in another flanker, but a much better one than the LPRN Hippie Chic I wore yesterday. It’s Lolita Lempicka Fleur Defendue (Forbidden Flower). I have a bottle and can’t believe I almost swapped or sold it years ago. I love it! It’s a perfect scent for the office because it wears close to the skin. In fact it’s almost gone from my arms already because my skin is dry. Luckily I sent a few sprays down my shirt so that’s where I’m really getting it. It’s mainly almonds, violet, cherries, and anise to me.
I’m even coincidentally wearing a cherry named lipstick, Clinique Cherry Pop. I don’t think they were trying to be provocative because it’s part of the Pop lip color line. It’s a nice pink red.
I googled the Clinique lipstick, wow that is a gorgeous red!
It’s a great color! I really like Clinique lipsticks. Another great red from them is the orange red matte Ruby Pop.
I have the Beach Pop. It’s a good rosy brown and I like the texture a lot.
Beach Pop looks like a nice one too.
I bought a mini set during Sephora’s after Christmas sale last year, and in the set I got Cherry, Ruby, Nude, and Blush Pops. Then my co-worker gave me a Plum Pop mini, Black Cherry Almost Lipstick (the one holyneroli likes), and Broadest Berry Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Color Balm. I am very well stocked on Clinique lip products!
Thanks for the mini lipstick review – I love Clinique’s black honey lipstick (it’s really more like a lip stain) and now I want to try more of their colors.
I like that one a lot too. I highly recommend trying more lip products from them. I enjoy their matte formula if you want long lasting but non drying.
SotD is Fleur de Lalita, by Dusita (from a sample).
Pretty and uplifting but not too cute, it has a bit of an edge to it…salty and slightly animalic keeps it from being too much of a goodie two shoe.
Good stuff.
It made me check out the Dusita store…. They offer travel sizes. I am sooo tempted hahaha.
And now I am sampling Mohur Extrait, because Austenfan told me it was great.
It is indeed great and makes me smile from ear to ear. But, gosh, even in my pied-de-poule pencil skirt and heeled booties I feel waay too shabby for this stuff hahahah
I for one bet you look elegant.
You smell lovely today and I’m sure your outfit is worthy of Mohur. I wear it whenever the mood strikes.
I feel strangely responsible now 😉 But I’m glad that you like it.
I remember first trying Mohur EDP and liking it but not really loving it. Then I somehow got sent 2 small decants of the extrait, courtesy of 2 NST’ers and of course I had to fall in love with it. Saving up for a full bottle.
I think it would be to simple that one should only wear glamorous clothes with glamorous perfume, I think it is far more fun to wear really killer perfume with a not so killer outfit, or so I tell myself.
I never wear skirts anyway and I love big, over the top fragrances. There is something deeply satisfying about smelling classy while taking out the garbage.
Oh I totally agree with you that there does not need to be a connection between clothes and the fragrances we wear.
Nothing beats wearing the most glamourous scent when you sit on the couch in pjs, watching netflix and eating snacks 😉
I think I just wanted to express somehow that Mohur Extrait sure feels like a scent made for a princess in silk robes 🙂
And it sure does!
I’d never heard of pied-de-poule as a pattern, and am DELIGHTED to learn of the name. (We refer to it as houndstooth, which seems equally silly; it doesn’t look like chicken feet OR dog teeth to me.)
Anyway, you smell great, look classy, and have definitely made me smile.
Keep warm and wrapped for the ones affected by the polar vortex.
In Caron Aimez-Moi, I always wait for what I call the pastis note which is a guilt-free treat.
You smell great Aurora!
Thank you Robin, I don’t wear it enough, it’s a firm favorite.
I needed a comfort scent for another stressful day at work. SOTD is Lalibela.
Oh no, stress at work….hang in there. I hope things calm down soon.
Thanks Jiji…deadlines, deadlines, deadlines…
Stress at work I understand. Hope yours lets up soon.
I hope that your work gets less stressful very soon. That can be so draining.
Rahat Loukoum by Uncle Serge today. I just finished an hour of acupuncture and cranial massage for TMJ issues, so I was scent free until noonish. Now I can waft
Does it help? I have TMJ issues too.
Oh, no, I definitely sympathize about the TMJ. I had to wear a dental device for a year for that and it did finally help, but it’s still a problem every time I go in for dental work. Good luck.
I think acupuncture is so interesting. How does it work for you?
There was a little news clip today about the 67 year old Russian who is rowing around the world in the southern ocean. He has completed 3500km since leaving Dunedin in December and is half way to Chile. Apparently the waves have been 10m …Can’t imagine how awful that woukd be. But what caught my attention is that he hasn’t seen a single whale or dolphin. The hull of his boat is covered in weed and barnacles and he sees little fish nibbling at it, and that’s his company.
I am wearing Bracken which is incredible in the hot spell down here. Big perfumes really explode in the heat, don’t they? Massive doses of fun. I am a bit sad ( not tragically ) because the classics paper I intended to take ( Greek words that have entered English…Inspired by a NST picture and post last year ) isn’t on offer this year and the alternative – classical sculpture – is probably not much different from all the art history papers I did . So, a bit sad but not crying. I will do my grayeyard book instead.
Keep safe in the snow! Spring will turn up.
I am sorry for your bad news even if I do not understand it!
(Is “classics paper” maybe what we would call a college course in the classics? I think of “taking a paper” as the same thing as subscribing to a periodical.)
A paper for a university degree …i.e. one subject/course in classics. For a humanities degree you’d probably do 8 papers a year (in the early stages ) and cut down as you advance to reach a target number of points (though that system has probably modified since the 1980s). Inspired by seeing a photo of an ostracon on NST last year.
So interesting. We would just say taking a class or a course. You might write a paper for the class, but you would not take a paper.
I can’t believe I have never heard this til now…sorry for the confusion!
Feeling pretty swelegant in Knize Ten.
Drinking White Monkey Paw tea while writing.
Listening to The Jazz Butcher Conspiracy’s “Cult of the Basement”.
I realised yesterday how rare it has become for me to listen a full album through, in order, having instead drifted to making giant playlists and putting them on shuffle or jumping about on streaming services. So I broke out the boxes of CDs–that was a lot of dust–and sifted out about a metre of neglected music to listen to. Last night it was two Godspeed You Black Emperor albums, and today I’ve mostly been listening my way back through a good chunk of the JBC’s back catalogue with just ridiculous levels of pleasure.
I find I can’t listen to music when i work as it is too distracting. The rest of the time I seem to listen to music in the same way I wear perfume…i.e. Listen to one song over and over and over again for a short period of time, and then my attention shifts. Good luck with your writing! Doing the same here.
If I know the music really well it blocks out the world without getting in the way. Some other music takes up too much brain space, though, even if it’s very familiar. This re-discovery of albums is limited to breaks and non-thinky time as it’s pulling a lot of my attention. Which is lovely, but not productive. And Bob knows, I’m having enough trouble with productivity right now. I hope your writing is flowing more smoothly.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor….oh its been a while since I heard someone mention them. I saw them live twice.
To be honest I havent listened to their work in ages and kinda lost track of them after two or three albums…. But thanks for mentioning them, adding a few albums to my library right now 🙂
Oh, you are in for a treat! The three newer albums are superb.
Aren’t they *incredible* live?
You are indeed swelegant, my dear, crikey xxoo B.
<3
Dzing! today for another cold day, because it instantly makes me smile. Had tested Chypre Mousse yesterday and can still smell it on my arm, where i sprayed it 24h ago. Thats longevity!
Going to bed early today because i slept only 5h last night thanks to nightly sweating (thanks to menopause…. grr)
Oh yes, Chypre Mousse lasts forever!!!!!
I never had the sweats but my sleep went from bad to worse!
Chypre Mousse lasts a lifetime on my skin. And of course it does not work for me. Try scrubbing it off, its impossible.
I tried it at least three times because i really wanted it to work, reading the ravinv reviews but it just smelled like bad medicine to me. Nothing mossy, green or mushroomy going on. Maybe i got a bad batch?
Maybe you have to spray more? It’s a smokey chestnut earthy mushroom on me. I love it!
It might be skin chemistry. I do get mushrooms, spices, oakmoss and fennel, but that opening of Chypre Mousse is one of the weirdest things I have smelled.
Just learned about new Hermes garden fragrance coming soon as well as a new March launch of Puredistance Aenotus.
Very excited by a new Hermes garden fragrance.
Woo hoo!
I can’t do cherry – in flavoring or in scent, so I’m going to join OtherWise and go all rose today with Le Mat (weirdly, I CAN do immortelle).
Stay warm, everybody.
Do sit out the cherry — no need to suffer!
Blergh. I’ll just say it. I am stressed out of my skin about some family happenings here. Was up most of the night and have a terrible stomachache. I should probably go for a walk, but I feel stuck, and besides I am waiting for some work to arrive in my inbox.
In other, far more relevant news, I am wearing Ambre Precieux Ultime from a STC decant. It’s one of those perfumes that changes quite a few times in the course of one wearing. I’m not sure it is still available other than in decants… It is fun. A lavenderesque amber.
So sorry about the stress! It’s times like that I wish I could tolerate alcohol better.
Me too. Alcohol.
I hope you find some solution to the family happenings soon. Hold tight. Good luck.
You smell lovely. I hope your family situation is better than you think.
Family stress is rotten. Hope you find space to breathe while things are going on.
Well, took a huge breath and even laughed out loud. Decided to run an errand. When I stepped outside, there was a turkey on the roof of my car. I know Robin is not impressed by the size of our wild turkeys, but this one was ON my car. If your curious, I posted a video on my instagram account. Not sure how to link it. I am nerolimyrrh. This might work: https://www.instagram.com/nerolimyrrh/?hl=en
I feel like it was nature’s way of telling me to lighten up!
Thank you for sharing that video–it’s gloriously surreal! I’m glad you got an out of the blue laugh 🙂
Lol, what a perfect encounter with nature.
There’s a pack of wild turkeys that roam my neighborhood and I once spotted one on the roof of my neighbor’s house!
Great video! I never think about birds having balance problems, but that turkey looks about as clumsy as me…
Hope the family issues pass/resolve quickly.
I feel you have misinterpreted my past comment about your turkeys. If there was any size turkey in my yard, much less on my car, I would be most displeased, and would possibly be unwilling to go outside. I certainly would not attempt to get in my car with even that turkey on top of it!
Plus, SO sorry about family stress.
🙂
That’s amazing. Obviously a ‘good luck’ turkey
I really really really hope so. I found myself doing the strangest bargaining today. I got it in my head (yes, I know this sounds completely unhinged) when I was grocery shopping that if I did not but the chicken broth in the small, convenient but more expensive boxes, thing would work out. So I didn’t buy them. Perhaps it will be the miracle of the sister of our lady of the consomme. I’ll take it.
What a great video, and glad you had a laugh!
Your video reminded me of a commercial I saw on the weekend for Farmers Insurance – with turkey vultures. Very funny; those commercials I don’t mind watching.
Hope the family stress resolves itself shortly.
Hope everything gets resolved soon. Hugs!
Thank you.
Hope everything gets sorted out! Thanks for the turkey, it made me smile.?
That’s creepy. Turkey vs. cat – who wins?
Well, the roof of my car is now quite dirty and has scratches… so car lost.
Sorry to hear about your family stress. I’m sending you thoughts of strength and hope.
That was a BIG honking turkey perched on your car! ?
Thank you Jalapeno–and it was a BIG honking turkey. (She straightens up her shoulders just a little bit.)
I’m doing my volunteer hours at the coop later and they have a rule about not wearing any fragrance. I sprayed on LDDM anyway?under clothing. It should be mellowed out by the time I go. Happy Tuesday!
Good luck!
Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir. I do not own any fragrances with cherry, so I will try to do scents with dark fruit.
Pomegranate Noir is a great scent for winter.
A hot morning here – something I don’t think I’ve ever written before! Yesterday’s fog disappeared mid-morning and it turned into the hottest day I’ve ever experienced in my 30 plus years of living in Wellington. It reached 30 celsius. That will not be remarkable for many of you, but for a place that’s famous for cold summers, it was very exciting 🙂
I’ll be wearing Rose Alexandrie today, it’s disappointingly fleeting for what I’d have expected from the Armani Privé range, but it is a lovely light rose while it lasts.
Had a horrible night with the worst muscle spasms ever, felt like someone was driving a railroad spike through my shoulder. Spent the night sitting up applying heat as it was too painful to lie down. Heading off to the pharmacy to try to find some relief but my right arm is mostly non-functional. Just put on a random spritz of a vanilla sample.
Oh no! I hope you can get that pain to go away 🙁
oh no!!! I wonder if you have a frozen shoulder? I had one in my right shoulder and then a few years later in the other shoulder. It is indeed extraordinarily painful and impossible to sleep. If it doesn’t get better soon get it diagnosed because the only solution is physical therapy (or specific exercises which is what I did…if you don’t do the exercises your should will freeze up to the point where you can’t move your arm at all…that’s what happened to me the first time because I was too stubborn to get it diagnosed!)
Do you know what caused it?
I will email you 🙂
After reading your mail, I’m sure this is what I have. Did some reading online and the symptoms correspond exactly. I am going to start the physical therapy exercises today as I want to try and shorten the 2 year average healing time as much as I can. Sucks to get old. 🙁
To quote Robin’s mother “Getting old is not for sissies”…amen to that…
keep at the exercises..they definitely help!
I can beat you…I had the 2 frozen shoulders, with some overlap, plus a (rare!) frozen hip. All over now. Very good luck to you cazaubon!
Frozen hip???? Yikes!
It is rare. Most docs have not heard of it, so it was not diagnosed until it was way too late for me to do anything about it — I recovered full range of movement in both arms, but not in the hip.
Apparently you can even get frozen ankle.
I hope the pain eases up soon. Poor you.
Has this ever happened before? I hope you get some relief.
It has been creeping up on me for a couple of months, but now it’s gotten dramatically worse. I thought it was just soreness from holding my iPad too much, but this seems out of proportion.
I have used calcium, magnesium and zinc in combination as a remedy for muscle spasms. It has helped me in the past. I hope you get relief soon.
And vitamin D
Thanks, I will try it!
I hope the pain goes away quickly !!!
Hope you get some relief soon.
Sounds like it’s been trying to get your attention for awhile and now it’s become acute. Go to the doc and get it checked.
That sounds frightening. I hope the pain disappears asap!
Shoulder pain is awful. I’ve had rotator cuff trouble, and PT was definitely required to sort it out.
Dreadful; hope you get some relief soon!!!
Ouch. I hope this resolves sooner rather than later!
Yuck! So sorry to hear about your shoulder. I hope that it doesn’t take 2 years to resolve.
Only have one cherry scent so I’m saving it for Friday. Looks like a few of us are opting for rose instead, I’m doing the same in Rosa Nobile.
I was sure that Pulp or Badgley Mischka would have cherry in it with all the other fruits, but no. Fragrantica revealed my Friday fragrance after I did a note search. Today I’m wearing Kyoto.
I’m in CdG Play Red today. I had forgotten that this one has a cherry note. It’s definitely there, but it doesn’t shout at you.
Blink and you miss it 🙂
Maria Candida Gentile Hanbury.
You’re good. Definitely good!
Sampling Grey Warden from Area of Effect. It is a nice slightly woody cherry scent
I’ve never hear of this line!
I shouldn’t be allowed near the internet and etsy in particular when the weather is horrid and I’m bored….
🙂
SOTD Chris Rusack Io from my EBP purse stash since I was in a rush this morning. I’m really liking its fresh-cut wood and resins. Nice and forest-y!
Oh what I also wanted to share, dunno if anyone else has spotted it.
I was browsing the European Serge Lutens site this morning….I saw that my beloved Fille en Aiguilles is now in the so called Gratte-Ciel series.
100ml bottles for 290 euros.
Borneo, Tubureuse Criminelle, De profundis etc. also ended up in that line. ?
Glad I found a 50 ml Fille en Aiguilles back up bottle for not even 70 euros last year.
De Profundis? Noooooo!! Now I’ll probably never get it.
Nice find on the FeA, though!
A beautiful, contemplative day filled with the pregnant pause that the anticipation of snow brings. For a Iong while today, I thought what perfume would work for such a quiet, hushed atmosphere? Then I abandoned that thought and have spent the day commando, smelling like myself. I have recently been thinking about perfume as having a voice, which is something I experience on a visceral level. I guess sometimes I just want to be quiet and receptive to stillness.
I get that.
Thank you, lillyjo.
Very poignant!
I’ve done that sometimes, too.
School cancelled tomorrow due to extreme cold. (We are a walking district so below-zero temps usually get us at least a delay, but apparently the temp isn’t going to rise during the day.) So I will spend some time on my perfume closet which is a disaster area at the moment, can’t find anything.
Today I’m wearing SJP Covet. Such a weird and wonderful scent that is probably my favorite of all of my cheapies. (Less than $20 at Marshall’s!)
I’ve dithered over trying to re-home my bottle of Covet. As you say, it’s weird… but it does have a certain charm! I think I might regret not having it, so it’s staying in the collection for now.
Best of luck with the cold temps. They’re headed our way, too.
I left work a little early because of the snow (yes, it’s fashionable here to panic over the white stuff) and promptly got into trouble once home. As in, I started making chocolate chip cookies. Have just eaten several, while they are warm and gooey. Completely spoiled my dinner. Not sorry.
Finished the last bit of my decant of Dame’s Black Flower Mexican Vanilla this morning.
Snow panic twins! I gave away my BFMV awhile back and then regretted it. You smell great! I would have probably eaten the batter, and had no cookies, so good for you ?
If I had more BFMV, I would definitely share it with you — we’d both smell delicious 🙂
No, you did not spoil your dinner–the cookies *were* your dinner.
True… I had a glass of milk alongside, so at least there was some protein and calcium 😀
Yum! What a delicious dinner!
I have a sweet tooth the size of an elephant’s tusk… sometimes I just cave in to it!
Sounds like you had a delicious batch of cookies!
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
I wore 8 sprays but should have doubled it. It’s not that I can’t smell it (I can and I smell fab) but today had just been CRAZY!
Those in the Polar Vortex – stay warm. Frostbite is quick with even just a minute of exposure in the extreme temps. Extra care for babies and children and seniors who lack proper nutrition!
No. 19 is your “eau de protection”!
Hopefully you won’t need double the No. 19 tomorrow!
Sorry you had a CRAZY day! You might need to take your bottle with you tomorrow for potential additional crazy emergencies.
“Oh, my fur and whiskers! I’m late, I’m late, I’m late!” ? Waiting for the expected small amount of snow to arrive this evening.
SOTD = Boyfriend again. It’s smelling better the colder the outside temps become.
You’re good and stuck! What day hubby?
What SAY hubby?
Mr. Jalapeno usually doesn’t comment on my perfume unless it is something he dislikes. He hasn’t said anything, so I think I’m good.
My hubby is the same; he doesn’t usually comment. But I will hear about it if he doesn’t like it!
Know you were feeling poorly over the weekend — hope you have recovered (um, with the help of the boyfriend, maybe?) in time to face the vortex…
All I needed to feel better was a good night’s sleep on Saturday night, and a long, hot shower the next day.
Wearing some L’Occitane Fleur Cherie hand lotion; I’m really noticing how sweet and potent it is. My sister gave me a Fragonard cherie solid from when she visited there a few years ago on a trip; I also swiped some of that on my wrists to compare. The lotion is totally overpowering the Fragonard, and its been a few hours already. I’m not really a fan of either.
Hope that everyone is staying safe and warm this week.
