The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 20 December 2018 22 Comments

My nomination for the (high-end) gift most likely to please a perfumista: the Frédéric Malle Collection Coffret. "Minimal and precious, the coffret presents a 22-piece anthology of the Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle collection, created for the truly perfume hungry. An extraordinary showcase of our storied repertoire, whether you are travelling the world or idly crossing the street to see your favourite neighbour, choose a perfume befitting the moment — or one that you simply adore." 22 X 10ml + Book + Red Travel Case, $695.

It is not bad. And you could swap individual sprays you did not like.

I personally would rather see it cheaper and skip the spiffy travel case, but FM did not ask me 🙂

any US buyers of that are getting absolutely shredded on the exchange rate and/or import costs. It’s £450 in the UK or 485 Euros. (about $560-570 rather than $695). Not that 450 is cheap, but still…

The US prices on FM are beyond belief. It’s one of the worst differentials out there. So I must only buy while in Europe!

And this is why I only buy my Frederic Malles from Essenza Nobile in Germany. The north american prices are extortionate.

And the $695 doesn’t include any sales tax!

There’s a poll subject for you–What fragrance would you wear to idly cross the street to see your favorite neighbor?

I love this coffret but I pretty much own all the Malle I want, so there is no real need. Mind you, there is no real need for me to get any perfume anymore. And I’ve just realised that a small bottle of Lys Med, Une Rose and Music for a While wouldn’t be at all unwanted.

Geez it seems like an amazing deal….I just got a single 10 ml from FM here which cost around 80 CAD. So to get 22 of them off the shelf would be close to 2 grand. Even accounting for the USD/CAD exchange rate it seems like I’d be a fool to not invest ?
