Chopard Rose de Caroline ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 3 December 2018 10 Comments

French house Chopard has launched Rose de Caroline, a new addition to the the Haute Parfumerie Collection.

Inspired by Chopard's Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele, the Rose de Caroline Eau de Parfum pays homage to her favourite flower. Created by master perfumer Alberto Morillas, the powdery scent infuses gentle Rose Centifolia with the depth of Bulgarian Rose, forming a unique composition with an exceptional floral trail.

Chopard Rose de Caroline is available now at Harrods, £495 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I haven’t smelled it and maybe it’s great but £500 is an insane amount of money for a rose soliflore, of which there are dozens, maybe more than a hundred, on the market. I need to keep reminding myself that I’m not the target for this sort of thing, which is aimed at people with a lot of money who don’t know anything about perfumery but think that pricier equals better.

Don’t be presumptuous that people with a lot of money don’t know anything about fragrances.

I’m sure individuals can find a painted vase from the dollar store that makes them just as happy as someone who buys a Murano art piece, but I’m sure it’s not the same value economically. Emotionally, something else may inspire you just the same or if not more, even if the price tag is much lower, but there’s many people out there that wouldn’t mind spending that much money on a fragrance. There’s so many fragrances out there that people don’t find justifiable, but they’re still successful. Many would say the price of Creed is not worth it, but many others would beg to differ. Just take it as it is. If it’s out of your price range or not your style, doesn’t make it less valuable. One mans garbage is another mans treasure.

I can’t imagine that this smells better than my beloved thirty dollar Casmir. The bottle is beautiful, but truth be told, I’m actually getting tired of the red bottle train. Chanel fulfilled my wish, we need a new color now.
