It's our same old standard issue open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, your last fantastic bargain find, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

How is it mid-October already? Aggghhh…
It is R A I N I N G in Los Angeles, which never happens, so I’m trying to figure out what to wear in the studio for an intense workday and a nice dinner with the BF tonight. Cap Neroli? Black Afghano? What’s in between those two poles of lighter floral citrus and masculine heroin den?
I’m sooo jealous of your rain! Enjoy whatever you choose to wear.
<3
(I'm torn, sifting through the bowl of samples…. decision imminent? lol)
I vote for Black Afghano. I’m in San Diego and went for Black Phantom myself.
Definitely leaning that way. Did you get the storm down there, too? Last night’s lightning was fantastic.
Yes we did! It was great.
Cap Neroli on a cool day is an interesting thing to sniff.
I’m happy for the rain. I went for a walk on the beach this morning, put my hood up to keep of the rain. I had the sand all to myself until two joggers went by. 😀
Sounds lovely! I went for a nightwalk yesterday evening and the raindrops on asphalt and swishing of passing cars were exactly the meditation one needed!
Inspired by Bear, I am wearing Beloved Woman on this first fall day with 50s weather. Good God! I forgot how glorious and beautiful this is.
Did you know that you can get a 3.4oz bottle now for just $121? That’s an insanely good deal for such a powerful, long lasting and beautiful perfume.
Sitting outside in the sun watching the birds and listening to my kids giggle. A very nice and unusual saturday. Hugs to you all!
I know, I got my bottle for a steal too, so worth it. You smell great!
Excellent! I got mine in a buyer’s remorse eBay sale, 80 bucks, 100ml.
It is a beautiful scent, but the retail price was ridiculous!
????????????✌
Thanks for the review. I’m wanting to try some Amouage scents but am overwhelmed with so many choices.
I personally think it’s the most accessible Amouage.
I had to do some clothes shopping this week, especially trousers because one I wore just tore… The new ones I got are unusual for me, never had carrot fit pants with stripes. Guess I grew up to try something else.
Perfume wise I’m wearing L’Artisan Mont de Narcisse. I received it and Mandarina Corsica samples this week. Not exactly my type of thing – mostly immortelle, pepper, not much of narcissus from it. The other one is NOT for me, oozing maltol all over the place.
Carrot fit…is that the same as skinny pants?
I’m picturing orange striped pants.
🙂
Nope. Nope.
I think you’re right.
I bought a pair of super skinny jeans last week because they fit and were on clearance for $10! I’m short so I buy almost anything I try on that fits and is reasonably styled.
I thought I would not enjoy the skinny fit, but they are surprisingly comfy. There’s lycra in the fabric, so they stretch. Works under a tunic quite nicely. 😀
I used to think the same thing about skinny jeans – I am not a person who likes clothes to fit snugly – but with what seems to be a ubiquitous portion of Lycra in the fabric, they are surprisingly comfortable, and dare I say even more versatile than a standard jean.
Sleeves are like carrot. Wider in thigh and narrow at ankle
Are we talking MC Hammer pants?!! ????
Not like Aladin, haha
I hate when my pants rip, mostly because if I’ve worn them that much, I loved them. 🙁
Exactly
Sorry about your ripped pants! I like to wear my clothes until they are worn out.
I’m trying to wear different clothes too, a little bored with my usual jeans, chinos, t-shirts, and tailored blouses. Growing up is haaaaarrrrrd. 😀
Sometimes I surprise myself by liking something that I initially though is not exactly for me
Yes, with the cold temps coming I bought a number of new pants as well. I refuse to wear tights and so all winter long I’m in pants or jeans. Once the weather is in the 60s I’m a skirts girl, and sometimes dresses, but mainly skirts.
Jumped into the animal print and plaid trend with who pairs and then the rest simple black and a brown. Happy to have that out of the way!
Beautiful cool morning here! Today is my Monday, but that’s ok. Things are humming along with a bump here and there just to keep stufff interesting.
After shower, I will be in Philosophy FCWC again, because it’s quite easy and snuggly. T-Rex is working on the second half of her breakfast with enthusiasm. I feed her half out of a bowl and the second half goes in a food dispensing ball, so she has to work at it to get each kibble. She caught the hang of super quick, because you know, it FOOD!
Happy weekend to the M-F folks and have a great day to the rest of us. Go forth and conquer all naysayers with a your beautiful sillage…!
Love that last sentence! It’s like you are calling us to war
Agreed! I love it
haha, yes, the battle cry of the perfumista!
???? I sampled FCWC recently and immediately referenced B&BW Warm Vanilla Sugar.
The Philosophy EDT may be longer lived, but the WVS body cream in a tube, and shower gel, are excellent all-around!
????????????✌
Deva, u and t-rex always makes me smile! Enjoy your logical Monday/actual Saturday. Hope that means you get a mid-week day off, I love those, it feels like I’m playing hooky while everyone else is at work.
Thanks, but I really should edit my posts before I hit the magic button! I love having weekdays off for exactly that reason. I also don’t mind working weekends and holidays because HEY! less management stalking the halls! ???????? Plus it gives people with family and kids that time to be together.
Ha! I remember my mom preferring the 3-11 shift because there were fewer doctors and managers around. Things were crazy enough in the NICU where she worked.
I was too exhausted and shell-shocked to talk about it Friday, but I have some great news to share. After the heartbreaking loss of both our dogs this summer, right before we left Montreal for the winter we got a new puppy girl! She is a red sable Papillon, cute as a button and super cuddly. Her name is Mila. We feel so happy and blessed.
Mila! Welcome to perfume community, pup. 🙂
Oh yay! I’m curious to know how you were able to bring Mila with you so soon after you got her. Congrats!
We flew in the plane together, I will email you privately to give details.
Pic-tures! Pic-tures!
Ditto! Ditto! ????
Oh my gosh! So happy a pup got a great home! Papillons are such smart little dogs and adorable to boot. Mika is a lucky gal! ????
Mila! Dang spell check!
Puppy puppy puppy!!! I’m so happy to hear about your new canine friend.
Welcome to Mila, and good for you!
Yay for puppies!
Very happy news, indeed!
Welcome!
ooooooh, Mila! Cute as a button I’m sure. Congratulations!
Oohhh! Welcome beautiful Mika. Love papillons. So cute. Congrats on your new family member.
The ears on those dogs kill me! So adorable. Congrats!
That’s happy news- congrats!
Awww, congratulations on your new furry family member!
Yay for Mila…welcome to your family’s addition. 🙂
Congrats to your newest family member and what a cute name!
Welcome to the family, Mila! I am smiling so big for you right now, cazaubon!
Welcome to this much needed addition to your family.
Oh cazaubon, I missed the news about your dogs and I am so terribly sorry for your loss 🙁 and so thrilled that you now have Mila in your life! My neighbor’s sweet little white dog’s name is also Mila 🙂
That’s WONDERFUL news!
So SOOOOO happy for you & Mila.
If it is Saturday, it must be Caturday. I had been checking Instagram quite often, not just so I can see my brother’s very colorful pictures documenting his adventures in Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, but also to see which cat account to follow.
While perusing the animal theme, I came across the following. Warning: I almost peed in my pants, just sayin’
https://www.instagram.com/p/BoredGbhCMb/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1guk2hcyc4ecr
Ha! Those photos are a riot! Pretty sure cats run the world behind the scenes…????
That is hysterical!
Thanks! 🙂
Thank you! Those are just great!
Yes, cats do run the world. My favorite fridge magnet says ‘this house is owned and operated strictly for the comfort and convenience of the cat’. So true.
I have a sign in my kitchen that says “It’s the cat’s house, I just pay the mortgage.”
????
I work hard, so my cat can have a better life.
Wow ????
Oh my gosh, I love that flying kitty picture! ????????
lololololol! I’m having a grey morning and that I just the pick me up I needed. And it’s a good reminder that cats power the internets 😉
I want that talkative boy with the big ears. Gorgeous.
I love these! Thanks for the laugh! ????
That made me laugh so hard!
Good one H!!
On-call weekend, I have been paged 7 time since 4:45 this morning. Ugh. Oh, well, $$$.
Wearing D.S.& Durga Durga today, to cheer me up. This is my favorite perfume at the moment, closely followed, of course, by Mohur, Bell Rives, Erdenstern, and Mitsouko, in no particular order….
Sorta all over the map with my scents preferences these days.
I am thinking about hosting a split of Durga at the next splitmeet, if I am assured of at least a couple takers of 10 ml aliquots. Anyone think they might be interested in that?
Wow, that is a lot of calls!! Hope you aren’t kept up all night.
What type of tuberose is it – is it more along the lines of Carnal flower or is it a traditional BWF?
I haven’t smelled Carnal Flower. Compared to Fracas, it’s sweeter and more plush, somehow.
I might be …….. what’s the melon like?
To me, Durga is just sweet tuberrose, plush and deep, pretty linear, cheerful and soothing at the same time, and very pretty. I really don’t differentiate other notes – I was surprised to read that melon is supposed to be in there.
I went to Sephora this morning, so I am wearing No. 5 L’Eau on one wrist and L’Ambre des Merveilles on the other. Surpringly, they are dynamite together. I came home with the No. 5 L’Eau, partially inspired by the upcoming Friday project. My mom wears No. 5, and I love it, but I can’t wear it myself without feeling like I’m playing dress up. The L’Eau is a nice tribute that I actually feel comfortable in.
Have a fabulous fragrant day. I just mowed the lawn while smelling like a million bucks – who knows what other adventures await?
I love L’eau.
Another love for L’Eau. You smell fantastic!
The Red bottle will be available at Chanel.com; you can sign up for an email when it becomes available. According to my Nordie’s source, it will be available at Nordstrom on November 1st.
Do you know the price yet?
I feel the same way about no. 5. I have a bottle of the L’eau and decant of Eau Premiere.
You smell lovely!
I looove my L’eau. You smelled great! Congrats on your purchase!
I put on a spritz of No. 5 Eau de Parfum today at the perfume counter of a department store (Boscov’s, based in Pennsylvania). In the last three days or so before that, I had tried a few of the samples Jepster kindly sent me from the freebiemeet. I like the ones I’ve tried so far. Those are: Atelier Cologne ‘Mandarin Glaciale,’ Cartier ‘Baiser Vole,’ and ‘Chloe.’ Several more yet to try, which should keep me entertained for days. 🙂 Thanks, Jepster! Also, CobraRose said she would send some samples when a street fair wasn’t blocking her way to the post office. Thanks in advance! 🙂
It’s been gray and rainy here for the better part of the past six months, but it cheers me up to smell like citrus and flowers and spices. 🙂
Scentless today- I have a headache and really hope the medication I took would help.
2 questions:
1. What perfumes do you have in your purse as an emergency stash?
2. What perfumes would you like to see offered during the upcoming splitmeet?
My answers:
1. Ann Gerard Rose Cut travel spray and a sample of Chanel No5 L’Eau.
2. Montale Patchouli Leaves, Chanel Cristalle edt and OJ Sampaquita. Although I am not sure I will participate- I am having a baby in the beginning of November and will have to give up wearing my smelly friends for a while…
Looking forward to everyone’s’ answers!
Congrats! Hope your delivery is swift and plyushka jr. is fat, healthy, and happy!
Thank you Deva for the kind wishes!
I found that after I had my 2 little ones, that are close in age, my taste in perfume changed. Just a warning ⚠️
Thanks for the warning Lovestosmellgood! I am already aware of this issue, it is more of a question should I treat myself a little ( like I NEED any more perfume), or just seat tight on my hands or spend $$ on something else (skincare?).
A good under eye concealer, good skincare and a post baby massage would be my pick over perfume!
Great choices! I am waiting on the Sephora coupon (rumor has it it should be out in November) to get DE protini cream. Post partum massage didn’t seem like an obvious choice to spoil myself- THANKS for the tip!!!
A good under eye concealer, good skincare and a post baby massage would be my pick over perfume!
Wow, I think we’re having a baby boom on NST. Congratulations, plushyka! I wish you the best. I think nastywoman is imminently due as well.
Thank you hajusuuri! Wishing all the fragrant moms out there fast and easy delivery!
I just cleaned out my purse last night, but I left Ambre Narguile, Cuir D’Ange, and Sensual Orchid. They cover most of the bases. I’m not sure what I’m looking forward to until I see it. Congratulations to you!
Thank you Lillyjo!
I had couple 4 ml sprays of Cuir d’Ange, which I swapped some time ago- it was before I learned to appreciate delicate scents. CdA is really beautiful leather, enjoy!
Great questions!
My purse stash includes all decants of Vol de Nuit EDT, L’Atessa, FM Iris Poudre, Insolence (both EDT and edp), and La Pausa edt from a wonderful NST’er.
Maybe a decant or split of some vintage Opium. I’ve been looking but don’t think I’d need a full bottle of that powerhouse. It’s gorgeous though.
Best wishes for an easy delivery to you. Congratulations!
That’s a great variety stash you have in your purse Gail! Thank you for the wishes:)
Congratulations!
Thank you Tiffanie!
Congrats on the sweet baby! I keep random Sephora samples in my desk drawer. Right now I have Tom Ford Grey Vetiver and Prada Candy.
Diptyqur Solid perfume in Philosycos for bacckup, and soon i will add my travel spray of chanel n 5 to my purse for a touch up on the commute home – both sweet, thoughtful gifts from my parents.
For the splitmeet I am hoping for the opportunity for Chanel Cuir de Russie. Mmmmm.
Congratulations on your little one soon to arrive!
I have a sample of Galop in my purse, plus a mystery sample from Sephora that is vaguely citrusy. I have no clue what it is.
For the splitmeet….I’d love to see Rose Cut! I have a sample that I’m hoarding, and will be sad to see it drained. ????
1. I don’t usually keep perfume in my purse but today I have a sample vial of Bandit! At my desk I have Private Collection, First, Breath of God, Imogen Rose, Joy, Tea for Two, Jasmin et Cigarette, assorted samples and a little solid of Moondrops in an adorable golden frog.
2. Slumberhouse Ore, Branch and Vine, Paestum Rose, Terracotta
Byzance EdP today. After months of curiosity about it, I can finally report trying and comparing it to the EdT. And… Not much different! There are a few touches to differentiate: the EdP has a bit more pronounced tuberose, the sandalwood base is a bit creamier. But worth the huge price difference? No.
I am still utterly convinced men can wear this without raising an eyebrow.
????????????
????????????
Haven’t tried that one but it sounds lovely.
I could send you a bit! It’s gorgeous and I have a lot.
Yes, I agree they are quite similar, the edt is the best choice value-wise.
I finished Warlight last night. I was so into the book I read until my eyes hurt. Reading Ondaatje makes me want to go back and re-read the English Patient. He is such an exquisite writer and so poetic.
Now I am on to an author V over at BdJ recommend, Yasunari Kawabata. I am reading a short story by him.
Usual farmers market and morning errands. I made zucchini fritters for lunch and had rose macaroons with tea just now.
I am in Coco Noir body cream and Coco fragrance on top.
I got the most delicious concord grapes at the farmer’s market last weekend. Hope to find some more tomorrow.
Rose macaroons sound amazing!
I LLLLLLLLLLLLLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUVVVVVVVVVVVVVV concord grapes.
we get them too..kiddos love them
Hi OaklandFresca- Me22222222! Not many of us I don’t think. It’s intense.
Smiling so hard @ ur comment!!!!
The English Patient is amazing…so beautifully written.
Rose macarons….ugh I need some! Macarons are life!
I love Kawabata. There was a English translation of his palm-of-the-hand stories that I picked up recently and it was wonderful!
ok..Should I seek this book out?
I downloaded sample of Warlight to my kindle, and it immediately hooked me.
*a* sample. Ugh.
Let me know! Lets discuss
Had a spectacular flight home , high above the southern alps all dusted with fresh snow, the little plane bumping along into a head wind like a boat on a stormy sea . It’s the end of school holidays so the front three rows were occupied by “unaccompanied minors” all dressed up and looking slightly anxious about travelling alone. Landed sideways into a fierce crosswind, exchanged looks with my neighbouring passenger, one or two claps. Home…looked shabbier on the outside but a massive lasagne and wine awaiting, mad dogs doing happy circuits, all good. Wearing aesop marrakesh intense…a just right scent for cool weather …spicey cardamon, cedar, sandalwood …try it in your autumn. Chires today! Have a lovely weekend.
Ride ‘me cowboy! Sounds like a fun plane ride and homecoming. Glad the kiddos avoided being sick all over the place ????????
mad dogs doing happy circuits! My cat does that, and after a long day away from home, nothing is better.
I hear you on the turbulence, had that myself flying Thursday. Lots of calming deep breaths were needed. And happy doggie cirsuits are the best! My husband arrived in the car last night and the puppy was wagging her tiny tail madly and crawling all over him giving kisses. He really needed that after three grueling days in the car crossing the continent.
PSA: Birchbox (autocorrect, “bitch ox,” really?!!) is having 50% off their perfumes (discount given in the cart): https://www.birchbox.com/category/11992
There is a mix of mainstream (e.g. Cartier or Juicy Couture) and others (Atelier Cologne, ELDO, L’Artisan, Penhaligon’s, Mondale, MCMC, etc).
Have a great weekend everyone! (And now I need to decide what perfume to wear)
OH you enabler you.
Oh, wow! I possibly, might’ve, most likely, almost could have taken advantage of that deep deep discount for a forever lemming of Fils de Dieu something or other….????
???? that sounds like a purchase to me.
Do they still have a store in Soho I wonder?
Used to like visiting there and trying their stuff.
Thanks for the heads up!
SOTWorkout was Fico di Amalfi. Mmmmmmm, yum! Love this one!
SOTAfternoon is Coach edp. Finally pulled the trigger on a rollerball from Ulta. It’s only right, since I seem to spritz a little from the tester on every visit.
Patiently waiting, waiting, on the cold front that’s supposed to trundle into town on Monday morning. It’s 89 degrees now in Hou-town.
It was 49 on my way back from Aldi. Fall is here in NJ! I also saw a bunch of squirrels scampering about – I think they got complacent in finding food to store for the winter and are now in panic-mode.
Brrrr! Those squirrels had better get on the stick (????sorry????).
The weather is nuts. I was running my AC at night two days ago. Now it’s fr, fr, fr, freezing. I went to an art fair today wearing three layers and gloves. Michael finally blew away taking the heat and humidity with it.
It’s just 47 here, I’d be happy to meet you halfway with a balmy 68!
That sounds perfect. We’re expecting temps in the high 60’s on Monday morning. ???? ☔️
SOTD = Zoologist T-Rex
Smoky incensy birch tar leather and my nose picked up the vanilla as well. I did 2 spritzes from the bottle I just opened today as I am getting my decanting mojo back to fulfill freebies and swaps. I got a lot of birch tar (probably from the cade oil so you have to like that type of burnt smell as it is definitely what you will get at top and it threads all the way through development and drydown. You can soften this by layering on a vanilla perfume (I’m thinking Vanille 44 or Tihota will work very well).
Question:
I got the bracelet pictured below when I was in Barcelona last year. It is a triple loop wraparound bracelet with a magnetic clasp at the end. I’m looking for different colors and patterns and my searches have not yielded anything to my liking either due to the leather part being too thick or too textured or the magnetic clasp not being of the same type. Does anyone know where I can buy more of these? Thanks.
https://store.lapedrera.com/en/objeto/tiles-bracelet-voltes_1031029
In other news, I don’t recall if I mentioned this previously — if you drop off empty containers of make-up, face & body products at L’Occitane, you get 10% off your purchase! That said, if you can wait, L’Occitane ipwill have a friends and family event October 31 to November 6 in-store and online (with code FRIEND).
I don’t know where to find such bracelet, but if you happen to find it, please share 🙂
I second that. Want.
gosh, that’s purdy! time to go back to Barcelona for another? 😉
EXACTLY what I was thinking. I missed it while I was there.
Not sure if it’s exactly the same, but years ago I bought a Troll Bead leather wrap bracelet. I haven’t been on their website in a while but it’s worth checking out. Pandora is a rip off of Troll Beads, which are more edgy (and fun) than Pandora. They have all kinds of necklaces and bracelets…
Thanks for the mini review! T-Rex is going on my to test list. Just 2 days ago I was searching on fragrantica for perfumes with prominent birch tar note- did get about 5-6 recommendations, but they were brands I never heard about before, very obscure and $$$$.
I always have birch tar soap at home and I LOOOOOVE the smell of it!
Lovely bracelet!
Lovely bracelet!
search on Etsy “magnetic triple wrap bracelet”, looks like there are a couple of good options
I took the kids to the Big mall today. Stopped at Sephora and brought home a sample of Eau des Merveilles. Trying to get my Christmas shopping list together. My son wants the Nintendo Switch system. That might be a little out of reach though, idk… we’ll see. He’s such a good, sweet kid. Other than that, I’m just enjoying not working on a Saturday ????
I remember the battle over Nintendo when my kids were young. The cost, the time spent playing, the policing I knew I would have to do, it all made me avoid the issue for years. We waited to have gaming systems in the house until my youngest was 9 years old. Now it hardly seems to matter with smart phones, tablets, and tvs that are internet connected, screen time is inevitable. 😉 Let the play games!
Same here. My oldest-now 22- was recently lamenting how when he was younger we only allowed gaming on the weekends and he was the last of his friends to be able to play the games rated M for mature. We both kind of chuckled about it because as you say, seems kind of pointless now.
Enjoy your Saturday off!!????
SotD = Eau des Merveilles
Wearing both the perfume and the lotion. Lovely, and thank you to lillyjo for mentioning it and making up my mind for me.
I am so brain dead today, it has been a long week, and I’m walking around like a zombie after doing Saturday chores. Napped yesterday and may do the same today. Self-care is an investment in my future self. 😀
Thought for the day:
There’s only one very good life and that’s the life you know you want and you make it yourself.

I love the swissmiss blog, TIna has a great outlook on life.
Love the photo!
I think it’s a great photo too 😀 very powerful and engaging
That is a great thought!
the though made me smile, glad you like it too 😀
argh, I’ll type again –
the thought made me smile!
I’m in a very light spritzing of Kyoto on a GORGEOUS fall day here, and trying to decide how best to use the time. What I want to do is run out to the nursery and buy huge numbers of late-blooming plants … but I know the rain will be back and they’ll all go soggy and droopy and depressing. Think I’ll just go out the back door and see what inspiration hits me – something always does. Happy weekend everyone!
Hope something did inspire you SheriG!
Starting to test serge lutens le participe passe. So far, not bad at all; this promises to be a real lutens.
So far, the reviews seem mostly positive. I am almost tempted to try it 🙂
Yes, try it; one cannot stop with dent de lait! I don’t know if anybody has mentioned it, I feel I need to test this one together with jeux de peau?
It is a sad place to stop I guess!
Revisiting my sample of Tihota today. When I put it on this morning, the first thing that it reminded me of was a bowl of cocoa pebbles and milk. This is funny for a couple of reasons…1: I haven’t had a bowl in forever and 2: cocoa is not listed in the notes. I get cocoa on the opening of Dame’s BFMV too though, so there you go.
In other scented news, I picked up some Schmidt’s deodorant at target yesterday to try and omg is it scratchy on my skin. The texture is almost grainy. I’m all for a natural deodorant, but I don’t know if my very sensitive skin can take that abrasiveness. I’ll give it a couple more tries.
Excited for the splitmeet next Saturday.????
Not all of the Schmidt deodorants have that grainy texture – some are smooth, including Jasmin Tea and Pineapple Coconut
Whenever I wear Chanel Beige edp, I think Jujubes! And, I am wearing it today (weirdly, the parfum, which I also love, does not remind me of Jujubes. . . .) and enjoying it very much.
In case you are too young or healthy to know: https://www.candywarehouse.com/jujubes-candy-theater-size-packs-12-piece-box/
The most elegant Jujubes ever!
Jujubes were my mother’s all time favorite candy. To me, it seemed as though their main mission was not to assuage one’s sweet tooth, but to dislodge every filling and/or crown in the mouth. ????
Bookmarked that site! My Dad always had jujubes at home when I was a kid. ????????
Have you tried Arm & Hammer‘s essentials deoderant in Unscented? No aluminum – no parabens – I love it so much I wish they had a whole line of products available!
Love it! Now THAT’S a cat-bomb!
wrong spot, obviously!
Just back from a run and enjoying the cooler temps as long as I’m wrapped up and warm. Clouds were picture taking worthy so I had to stop and take a few pics.
Making a red lentil soup shortly, and trying a new recipe of spiced pumpkin snack cake that’s vegan. Using flaxseed flour and almond flour, sugar is maple syrup. We’ll see how this turns out.
No scent today, but maybe after a shower. 😉
That pumpkin snack cake sounds great!
One spray of Dusita La Douceur de Siam from a sample I got at ZGO in San Francisco. Really nice at first – my husband was quite taken. But now, it’s bugging me. Something in it is making me headachey.
My sister returned my dad’s leased car today. It’s an early return, because he did a three-year lease. So, there’s still over a year left. We are hearing we may owe them $$ to return it. Who leases a car to someone who is 89 years old and doesn’t expect that it may be returned early?
I liked that one for first 30 minutes as well. Less in love with it as time passed. So, like chewing gum, I found myself refreshing it with additional sprays. (I am sure I was not fit for human company by the end of the day!)
I don’t understand how they could ask you or your sister to pay on the lease since you didn’t lease it? I think that’s awful of them.
They’d be expecting his “estate” to pay what’s due, I imagine….
Sitting down to a pizza lunch after spending the morning at a local punpkin patch with some friends and their hilarious toddler.
Felt kinda gross when i woke up, so skipped the scent. It was a cool morning but the afternoon is sunny and warm, so kinda think chanel n 5 edt will be nice when i get home.
Pedicures with the hubby this evening. (No polish for him!)
That does sound like a lovely day!
I have the ‘third cousin once removed’ (tried to think of something opposite of ‘mother’) of all galas to go to tonight. My husband is the ED for a hospital foundation that hosts the hospital’s annual gala–so I attend as “wife of…” 700+ guests this year. Had my hair colored, and blown out, and it looks lovely. The rest of me looks like a butternut squash. I am a butternut squash with nice hair. I have to leave in 2 hours and I have literally no idea what I am going to wear. What looks good on butternut squash? I can’t go in butter and sage . . . obviously! Tempting as hell.
Since I started the day in Beige edp, I may up my game to the parfum for the evening . . .
I often hear similar self doubts from people that I really look up to. So chin up, soldier. I bet lots of people will look at you tonight and think that you have a lovely, desirable life.
I have no doubt that you will and do look beautiful. I hope it’s an enjoyable night out for you.
You are going to look and smell amazing, I have no doubt!
How was it? I say with great hair you’re probably winning more than half the battle ! ???? hope it was a fun night
Yes, do report back Oakland Fresca — hope you found the perfect thing to wear and you are glad you went!
I broke out APOM and Lumiere Noire both femme versions today. I bought the feminine coffret ages ago (which is to say about 3 years 😉 ) but I just don’t ever reach for them. After some sniffing today, they are both meh to me.
I feel like I need to do spring cleaning here in the fall and see what other perfumes need to be rehomed. I cleaned out some samples and what out from my Closet of Shame a month or so ago but it didn’t really make a big dent…or free up space for more perfume… 😐 Perfume should be loved and appreciated…like art. I am inspired seeing those participating in the use it up/thunk club. I am going to go through my coffers and figure out what stays and what goes before the new year…put my fragrance house in order…
She-ra, any chance you know when eBay will again have that coupon code you kindly told us about last time around?
No word yet.
My brother is into video games the way I am into perfume 😉 and browses many video game forums which often get advanced tip-off on these codes which is how I sometimes catch wind of them early. They seem to release them about once a month and the last one was 9/27…seems like they might time one end of this month/to coincide w/ Halloween maybe?…I shall be sure to post any codes as soon as I receive the intel. 🙂
I’m in Slumberhouse Kiste today. Perfect for a chilly, windy, and slightly snowy day here in Jackson Hole. Going to LA on Monday and definitely planning on doing some damage at scent bar and Neiman Marcus!
I envy your easy access to perfume shopping.
I envy your easy access to Jackson Hole! ????
A beautiful morning at the Balloon Fiesta. I love this week in Albuquerque so much! I’ve posted some pics throughout the week on my Instagram if anyone wants to see. I think you can find it under my gravatar. After that we went to the Rio Grande Arts and Crafts festival which only made me want to have thousands of dollars to spend on art. Great stuff.
My MIL leaves tomorrow morning. Love her but it can’t come fast enough! ???? I wore No. 19 today for strength.
Hot air balloons! You smell great!
Loved your Instagram posts! That event is on my bucket list for sure. Bye bye MIL!
Photos don’t do it justice!!!
You smell gorgeous.
Oh dear, I’d love to go to that arts and crafts festival. I’m very drawn to Native American art and sculpture. Still regret not buying a sculpture I fell in love with many, many years ago. It was out of my price range but I’ve never forgotten it.
My parents used to live in a semi-rural area near a hot air balloon training field, and I loved watching the balloons filling up in the pre-dawn chill of an early summer morning, and then rising over the field and drifting off with the wind.
I had a lovely, if rainy and freezing cokd day at an arts and crafts fair. I went with a friend from work who retired in August. So it was fun spending time togethet again. She can run rings around people half her age. Before leaving for the fair she served me yummy homemade crepes stuffed with lemon curd and fresh blueberries with rasberry sauce. Yum!
SOT fair was La Danza Delle Libellule (sp? Too tired to check)
Raspberries!
The combination of flavors was amazing.
Those crepes sound absolutely delicious! What a nice combination.
Glad you had such a lovely day with your friend.
Thanks! It was a good day.
Those crepes sound amazing!
I am planning to make crepes for my kids tomorrow, but most of the time we are just eating them with sour cream or sweet condensed milk. In the summertime I like to serve them with fresh blueberries and a sprinkle of sugar.
She also mentioned that she makes them with fried bananas and good maple syrup. Yum. ????
Oh yay, Petunia… I’m glad you got to visit with your retired friend. Sounds like a great time ????
Oh crepes, so glad you had something so delicious-sounding and spent time with your friend.
Been away for a while, and it seems I completely missed a freebiemeet! I had a little bag of samples ready to go and everything.
SOTD is Rihanna Rebelle, which I’m trying for the first time. I may pass it on to a younger cousin or just wear it when I’m in a particular mood- the chocolate and coffee notes are obvious, though the other sweet notes all blend together. At $3 and change, there was no risk.
No risk at all and it’s useful to have a fun scent in your arsenal.
You can offer up your freebie any time. I may do that with some samples if I ever organize them…
As LizzieB said, you can post freebies even on the regular threads. I’ve cut back on offering them in the special Freebiemeets as I’ve noticed them being claimed by people who only show up during the Freebiemeet and I would much rather mine go to people I “know” from their comments here.
So Friday after work, I stopped and got my flu shot. Now, I’m up, and feeling quite sick. Does anyone know, if the shot will still help? Or is it to soon so any benefit was just voided?
It could be the shot that is making you feel ill.? But if you in fact have the flu, most likely you were exposed to it before Friday. Really sorry to hear you feel so lousy. Drink lots of fluids! I hope you can get some sleep at least.
So sorry that you aren’t feeling well. I hope it passes quickly.
Don’t worry, it is likely the shot that can mimic flu symptoms, it means it worked and you should be protected from the flu virus later on.
Agree with these comments. One of my coworkers and I both had achey muscles the day after our company flu shot day, but were fine after that.
I hope you get better soon. Although I am not a medical professional, from personal experience, getting the shot could cause achiness and fever. I rarely get that result but it had happened.
I often have that reaction to getting the flu shot – I had it last week and felt sick for about a day – I hope it passes and that you do not have a full-blown flu !
A sunny blustery day yesterday, quite warm too, but grey skies today. I wore Ivoire 1st version and today, I’m undecided. Inspired by Petunia I think I’ll make crepes this afternoon.
Yep, grey rainy weather here too. Save me a crepe 😉
Rainy weekend here. Cooked (stew) and baked a lot. Gwyneth Paltrow’s fig millet muffins (no fail recipe), crepes (after inspiration here) and today, fudgy chocolate cake. The kids are happy and I’m done baking for a good while. SOTW Habanita and Chypre Rouge.
Fig muffins sound great! I am getting hungry with so many food mentions here today.
SOTD = Slumberhouse Baque
Sweet tobacco and cedar are the main notes I get out of this perfume, a perfect combination for Fall!
A little over a month ago, I had a mini makeover at Sephora focusing on foundation. I asked for an explanation of how to use the Beauty Blender (or any foam), including how to clean it, etc. as I was interested in a smoother finish. As someone here mentioned (Nancyleandros, I think), you dot foundation on your cheeks and basically bounce the blender all over your face. Anyway, fast forward until now and I have not used my Besuty Blender. Yesterday and today, I tapped my finger pads to my foundation dotted face (instead of swiping and swirling) and the results were a smoother finish, if I may say so myself!
I like the BB better than brushes too. I think brushes are great for photos ot an evening out because they leave a heavier finish. The BB provides a more natural, dewy finish that I prefer for daytime. At least that has been my experience. I don’t wear a lot of makeup.
I totally agree on the finish changes, but I pick mine based on the time it takes me to get ready.
The clean-up for the BB takes me a lot longer, and I end up using it for evenings out as opposed to day-face. I’m sure if it was easier to clean it wouldn’t matter so much to me, but GERMS!!!
I have tried a beauty blender, but I don’t like that it absorbs so much of the foundation. I’ve always used my finger pads, and of course I’ve made sure that my hands are clean
I mostly use my fingertips as you do. I finish by going over my face with the blender at the end to catch areas that I may have missed.
Me, 2. The blender feels like a bacteria sponge to me. Even after a cleaning, it still grosses me out.
