Happy Almost-Friday, and happy birthday to Sophia Loren! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Cartier Carat (review to follow).
Reminder: 9/21 is the International Day of Peace *and* World Gratitude Day. Wear a fragrance that fits.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

It is pouring rain today- I guess fall is finally coming to MI. Had a cup of coffee to help me stay awake after sleepless night and sprayed the last drops of Chanel No 5 Eau Premier from the sample. A friendly SA ( I have bought several bottles from her, so she should be friendly!) sent me several Chanel samples in plastic atomizers and I want to finish them first since perfume in plastic sprayers turns quickly.
After Eau Premier wears off, I will spray Angelique Noire to continue with vanilla theme đ
I should of sprayed AN this morning…
Maybe this afternoon?
I haven’t tried Santal 33 and I am not sure how long it lasts, but as a general rule if I don’t like particular scent it lasts ages and impossible to scrub of the skin…
Oh, Angelique Noire is gorgeous.
My mother’s signature scent, and it fit her style beautifully.
My style is rather casual, not a match for AN, but I enjoy wearing it nevertheless!
You smell great in Eau Premiere.
Thank you!
I wish I read your comment before I applied my perfume today – I would have worn Angelique Noire today đ
đ AN is great in early fall ( and in all other seasons!!!)!
An early morning and rain? Ack!
At least I was able to take a midday nap! The sound of rain certainly helped to fall asleep đ
Mr L is traveling for business and left yesterday. Today the little ones were up before 6am (which is rare) and I am on my 3rd cup of coffee.
My chubby Buddha loves Bollywood music and we have listened to this song about 50 times this morning. https://youtu.be/UFvL_FZt7Qc
Every time I smell Santal 33 in the wild streets of NYC I am happy to try it out again.
Nope!
There is nothing worse than being over tired and smelling like a “marbloro man/woman” has been smoking dill instead of tobacco.
Absolute scrubber on me.
Alas, back to my perfume wardrobe to find something else…
Good Grief.
I can’t really stand Santal 33 on others, if I’m being honest. Maybe I’m just being snobby, but I always think, “You spent that much to smell like an upmarket air freshener?” I much prefer The Noire for the lighter Labos.
Up before 6! I’m not sure there is a fragrance for that.
With three cups of coffee and the upbeat music going on in the background, I would be dancing around with the little ones đ
Yes, a lot of dancing this morning
Thatâs really interesting re Santal 33, because the first time I smelled it, my daughter was wearing it. No dill, hay, tobacco….just a beautiful scent. And thatâs why I wear it, just melds wonderfully on my skin.
Sorry you had to scrub! Good luck with the caffeine intake today. đ
Oh, boy! You have my sympathy! I HATE to get up early! My toddler got up at 5 a.m. 2 days ago, luckily my DH kept him company until 6.30 a.m. I have to get up early anyway to send my daughter to middle school.
I have 2 perfumes in my collection that keep me awake in the case of early start- Sisley Eau Du Soir and Jacomo Silences. I guess sharp notes do the trick.
COFFEE! Although, I can’t have more than 1 cup.
The last resort is taking a cold shower, but I haven’t used this cruel method in a long time đ
Best of luck to you and hope you can take a good 2-3 hours midday nap! Hold on there!
Great song! I love these lavish Bollywood dance sequences
Wow, Marlboro man smoking dill is not a good description! But it did make me laugh out loud at my desk.
Its just so yuck on me…I don’t have the skin for it! Money saved
Me, too!
Not the “yuck on me” part, the laughing out loud part…
Beautiful picture Robin!
Wearing O de Lancome layered with patchouli essential oil.
Have an almost Friday day everyone!
Isn’t that gorgeous? Wish that was the view out my back window.
Oooh, interesting layering!
PL67 – would you have any idea if the sample of Samsara you sent me once was vintage? It is lovely, but Iâm trying to determine if a new bottle would smell anything like that – if you have any recollection it is appreciated!
If you got the Samsara sample from me, which I do not remember, it isn’t vintage. My bottle, which I got rid of long time ago was approximately from 2009, if I remember well. I do not know the difference between the perfume at that time and recent releases, since I have not tried Samsara in a long time.
Gotcha, thank you very much!
Sorry I couldn’t be of much help đ
Chiming in.. I could never wear the vintage Samsara on my skin because of the heaviness of sandalwood. The current version works better for me, but it’s still alot of sandalwood and lasts forever. Just maybe a little thinner.
Of the current version, do you wear EDP or EDT?
Edt
Adding it’s been about a year since I’ve worn it.
lillyjo, if you have the chance to try it, I love Un Air de Samsara. It’s an eau de toilette concentration with a refreshing mint top note and very little sandalwood. It’s much easier to wear than the original.
Interesting, I never heard of this one. I’ve always wanted to be a Samsara wearer, once it hits my skin, I have a hard time with it.
I love vintage Samsara, the ylang ylang/jasmine veers very green. It’s quite the shape shifter – in warmer weather, it veers more green and in cooler weather it’s more oriental/tonka/sandalwood.
Hmmmm…If we get another hot day I will have to try that out
Oh wow!!!!! That’s an awesome combo!!!
That combo wear beautifully!
I wore a little bit of O over the summer
O is a a very refreshing, summery scent indeed! I love it!
O de Lancome with patch EO sounds wonderful! I am enjoying my virtual sniffs of your SOTD.
Thanks! It is a very nice combo. First time trying it and it is really good!
Wearing Mito EDP today.
This time, I am getting more of the floral than I usually do, and enjoying the heck out of it.
Ollie is feeling a bit better. He barked at the neighbour’s cat last night đ
You smell lovely! The Mito Voile d’Extrait is on my wish list.
You smell great! I love Mito.
Hope you and Ollie-pup are well on the way to recovery now!
Good to hear that Ollie is on the mend! That means his human will be able to relax soon…
Back-to-work day for me after a lovely vacation. Vol de Nuit extrait will see me through the mountain of accumulated email that undoubtedly awaits me.
very classy
Going through email after vacation is always such a chore. Hope the VdN gets you through. You smell great!
Hello everyone!
I’m willing fall to come, so I chose Celine Magic (the EdP). I didn’t realize how hard this over can be to find, but I’ve been having a Sophia Grojsman moment and saw it at a discount shop. It is lovely, a bit of fiery carnation overlaid with a pear tart accord. It’s like one diluted Spellbound with a slug of Jaipur. Plus the bottle is cute as a button!
sounds fabulous!
If Sophia Grojsman is the nose behind it I would say its a wonderful composition đ
It is! If Spellbound is too thick, Magic is just right.
I’ve been having a grand time trying all of Grojsman’s work. I still think Yvresse is my favorite though.
SOTD: Neroli Outrenoir
Looking forward to the Cartier Carat review!
You smell wonderful ! I bought a bottle of Neroli Outrenoir at Guerlain on the Champs- Elysees two weeks ago on my vacation. My scented souvenir of Paris đ
Wow! Great vacation purchase and a lovely memory of Paris too. I think I might do the same when I visit in 2020.
Mmmmm! You smell fantastic! NO is on my to buy list.
SotM = Beau Kwon Tuberai
This thing is oddly addictive. I love tubereuse perfumes to start with, this one adds an unusual almost leather almost suede with a touch of plastic opening that I! Can’t! Stop! Sniffing!
I’m working from a dab sample, methinks there should be a decant in my future.
Have a thankful Thursday, perfumed peeps! You make the world a better place. đ
Hey, that does sound good.
thanks, Robin, it is interesting. Not sure it lives up to the luxe ad copy and price, but it does make a statement.
Samsara edp….
I have been on a no-buy for a while, and I have been very good. My sonâs 13th birthday is coming up and I put a bottle of Cartier declaration Lâeau in my FragranceNet cart.
So of course I have to give myself a âbirthdayâ present to get to the $60 free shipping threshold.
Samsara is on the top of my list â Iâm interested in feedback on the version of Samsara that is currently available â and thoughts on EDP vs EDT… thank you!
I have thoughts on which bottle you should get but I donât want to sway you
Please share, Iâm interested ????
You should read Victoria’s thoughts and she gives a great description of the bottles and reformations
https://boisdejasmin.com/2011/10/guerlain-samsara-new-and-vintage-perfume-review.html
The vintage EDP is my favorite, and bottles can be found on eBay for about the same price as the current formula. There is a great post on Raiders of the Lost Scent blog about the different versions of Samsara and how to identify vintage formulas by bottle and batch number. Often sellers will list or show a photo of the batch number on the âbay.
Youâll have to report back on what you decide!
I tried the current edp 1st and liked it and then bought a vintage mini. I think they’re both good, but the vintage is smoother and a little richer in comparison, a little less synthetic-y. But I do think they did a good job with the reform. And now, I wear neither, lol.
Great info tho…thank you!
I shared my thoughts under your question to pl67
I have bottles of both EdP and EdT from 2009. I tend to wear the EdP in summer and the EdT in winter. I have not smelled any vintage Samsara yet, but I hope to someday.
Lanvin Arpege and drinking a cup of cranberry green tea
Arpege was my very first perfume and I still love it, you smell lovely đ
You smell great and what a great bottle, I almost want to get some for the bottle alone.
Dame Desert Rose today. I almost finished the decant, but not quite. I am trying to decide if I need another one, or if the several samples that I have will do for now.
This one is very pretty.
Did you try Dame Rose de Mai? I have a sample of that one, but Iâm wondering how they compare
According to the local weather people, today is our last 90 degree day. Nothing smells as wonderful in the heat as Seville l’Aube imho although boy, I’m ready for my fall perfumes. Hagd all!
I was scratching my head over hagd (a spell check error?, another language?) and then I got it ????. You too!
Hope you get your fall temps soon!
Wearing Tolu today. It really won’t matter though, my class is making apple sauce and the whole room and hall will smell of that.
The combo actually sounds like it would smell really good ???? You do smell great today!
You smell great! I love Tolu….and applesauce lol.
Both smells of your day sound very appealing đ
What fun! I love the smell of applesauce cooking.
Everything sounds yummy! ????
Wearing one of my all-time favorites, the ever wonderful Iris Ganache
Itâs a nice one! I should spend some time with my decant of it soon.
Poivre Sacramande. Thunk
Clap. Clap.
????????????
Sample or full bottle “thunk”?
Yay, for either one!
One of those large samples. I had to do around 50 sprays because the Hermessence wear like body sprays lasted for an hour
Nice to see you back to your THUNKing ways, CM8!
Itâs probably the last 90 degree day where I live now, so Iâm in the very end of my sample of Grandiflora Queen of the Night. For some reason this perfume works the best in high heat and humidity for me.
Iâve been so busy and, honestly pretty depressed this summer. Moved across the country, havenât found a good job. Traveling from Chicago to Oakland on Saturday, havenât packed yet, but at least I have a decent idea of what fragrances Iâm bringing ???? Hereâs hoping for a productive and less depressing fall!
I hope things start looking up for you
Job searching is incredibly hard and demoralizing. There just is something about it that GETS to you, no matter what. Hereâs to enjoying the small things along the way.
Good luck for better times coming to you soon!
Wishing that fall will bring you comfort and that you will get happy and settled, Stephanie.
Jos searching is the worst. But Fall is the best! So, good times ahead.
Sending good vibes your way for a happier fall!
Fingers crossed for you Stephanie!
????????????!
Wearing Ouarzazate over Ancient Resins Oil for this week’s project. This layering combination was first mentioned by ElisaP and it’s fabulous!
I was thinking about that for tomorrow… I do love that combo!!
Great combinstion! I’m enjoying it today.
You smell fantastic!
Wearing Jaisalmer and feeling extra sleepy today – not good since I’m working the noon to 8 shift. Too much going on at home to rest, as the water remediation work has begun. Will need to stop off for a large coffee before I head in today.
You smell wonderful.
Gypsy Water, decant
You smell great!
You smell so good!
Ditto!
Great summer scent in my book.
Wearing Tom Ford Santal Blush, which I found on the ‘bay in a purse spray atomizer. Very lovely and just the right amount! I will never need 50 ml or 100 ml of anything, unless I plan on living to age 200 or so. đ
We should all become vampires to get the most out of our collections. đ
Eau d’Italie Paestum Rose from the swap meet. I think it smells peaceful, calming with its incense and overall mellow vibe. It’s no powerhouse, that’s for sure.
I was watching the latest season of Call the Midwife last night and caught the 3rd perfume reference I’ve seen in that show: Tabu, L’Heure Bleue, and Miss Dior last night. I wonder if the writer is a perfumista?
I love that show, but just recently started it so am on season 3.
I love perfume references in literature and tv!
Wearing Chanel Cuir de Russie EDP, so about this reformulation, I find it less aldehydic but sweeter and more feminine than discontinued EDT and current Parfum. I like this new change, makes it easier to wear, I also like La Pausa EDP which I also find more feminine than previous EDT.
I love and wear EdT but I havenât tried the EdP yet. Happy to hear that it smells good.
I love love love Cuir de Russie. Hoping it comes up in a split, cause i drained my sample and a fb is way out of my orbit these days.
You smell fab!
From Sylvaine Delacourte, wearing Valkyrie and Vahina today.
VQ â18 still happening, folks… ????
Whatâs VQ18?
Vanilla Quest 2018…
I became enamored with vanilla this year…not everyone is into vanilla but they are all forced to virtually come on the journey…unless they are currently preoccupied with their own respective Iris/Amber/Patchouli,etc. Quest…some allowances will be made. ????
Ahh I see – I love vanilla too so do report back regularly! SDV is my favorite winter vanilla
I thought it started late last year but you know better ????
Ahahahahha. Hajusuuri is playing along at home too. You are right….it started last year and shows little signs of stopping!
Woke up late and had to scramble to get to work on time. I hate feeling rushed so Au Couer du Desert is helping me stay calm. I do like LDDM better though
Au Coeur du Desert is gorgeous stuff. I go back and forth over which one I like better between it and LAdDM.
Still sick, ugh, but at least I have the day off. It’s been pouring rain since before dawn, and my basement flooded. Had a meeting with kids therapy director so I wore Dune. A very calming perfume. I dabbed it from a mini. Which is perfect.
Hey lillyjo, hang in there. Keep taking the echinacea as it is supposed to lessen the intensity of symptoms.
Thanks, I’ve been taking one a day, but finally read the directions last night and it says up to six times a day! Lol, so I’m taking more now.
I have the 500mg version so it is 1/day. I hate taking pills spread throughout the day but one doesn’t have a choice in many cases.
Ugh, not a good day all around. I hope you feel better soon!
Hope you find some time to rest today!
Ugh no fun.
Feel better ????
Make sure you are taking good care of yourself
Hope the day off will help you to recover.
Thanks everyone!
Deepest sympathies over your flooded basement! And your cold. Ugh!
Thanks, it happens every time there is a down pour or steady rain. I hate it.
What a yucky day! So sorry that you are dealing with all that.
TODAY’s SOTD is vintage Samsara extrait. Happy almost Friday schmoopies!
Sipping ginger tea and Pedialyte, experiencing tummy issues today so giving my system a break. Hoping things calm down. đ„
Yikes. Hope you feel better soon. For laughs, I don’t know what I initially typed in lieu of “hope” but spellcheck changed it to “chop”.
Hope your tummy feels better soon.
Thanks KellyC! I call it the Jenny Plague diet, drop that five lbs I’ve been meaning to get rid of.
????
Feel better soon!
Hope you feel better soon, and you smell wonderful!
Feel better soon ????????
handing you a cup of tea! Well wishes
Sorry you’re not feeling well, today. Maybe eat plain rice this evening.
Hope you feel better soon.
sounds delicious! i love ginger tea and used to sneak sips of my kids pedialyte. hope you’re feeling better.
and “no, you’re schmoopie!”
Ooooof. Sorry to hear that you are having tummy issues today! I hope that things sort themselves out ASAP.
Thank you all so much for the encouraging words yesterday. They lifted me up more than you know. My fiance already has three interviews today (one here in ABQ, two out of state) so I know we will be okay. Just frustrating is all!
I’m boring and back in Shalimar today. I just need it!
You smell lovely anyways! Sometimes boring is lovely.
Oh, three interviews? How exciting! Will keep fingers crossed for you both.
My MIL recently visited NM (Albuquerque) and loved it, enough so that she’s considering moving there.
I really do love it here and do not want to move at all. I am trying to have an adventurous mindset and be very “go with the flow” today though haha. Not sure how much time she’s spent here but let me know if your MIL has any questions about the area!
Thanks Kelly, I just might do that!
The MIL has lived in SF all of her life (fourth generation San Franciscan) and NM was the first time she had that ahhhhhhh, I’m home moment.
Shalimar to the rescue!
Have my fingers crossed for you (hoping you get to stay in your new house with the lilac bush…)!
Three interviews is a good start! ????
I went back to read your post from yesterday. So sorry about the job situation. I hope he got at least 60 days notice (there are factors that trigger a minimum notice requirement). Good luck to him on his interviews and good on you for keeping it together and being flexible for your guy.
Crappy morning commute; crap meeting. But delicious homemade coffee, so there is that!
Am in Boucheron and Karite/Coco body cream. I smell like heaven, to be frank.
The original Boucheron? That is lovely stuff. I keep remind myself I have a mini, somewhere…. But those little ring/jewel-shaped bottles make the best hockey puck toys for kitty cats. =^.^=
Ha!!!????????????
Yes! I have the refill bottle instead of the pretty ring bottle. But the scent is great stuff and melds with the body cream, made by Carol’s Daughter (forgot to mention).
Homemade coffee is always a good thing. I have never sniffed Boucheron, but you certainly make me want to!
If you can find it at a department store, please do! It’s REALLY lovely.
Also: The homemade coffee is from Cafe du Monde, the coffee/chicory mix. It is so GOOD, naturally malty sweet and rich, and deeply satisfying with blended with hot soymilk.
CdMonde coffee is yummy, even better with a Beignet.
My father (RIP) wore the mens version of Boucheron. He loved the woman’s version but I don’t know what it smells like. You are making me want to seek it out…
The men’s version is delicious, really fresh, almost soapy, but with a delightful zippiness to it. You should check out the Boucheron for women- it’s really good and rather lovely spicy floral Oriental; it dries down to the most lovely trailing skin scent and lasts all day. And affordable, too, even in the ring bottle.
The men’s version is so gorgeous, really elegant and refined.
Love that you are fan of Boucheron and wear it pretty often. I have a mini that I dab on occasionally…
Stunning photo! So soothing!
Iâm in Taklamakan smelling wonderful as I clean up the van sute. Things are coming along great although weâre a bit flummoxed with the battery isolator business. Canât wait until itâs all done and decked out! I have the perfect spot for my traveling perfume box too! Wheeee!
I do not know what a battery isolator business might entail, but we agree on the photo and the need for a good space for the perfume box!
Ha! We are agreement on the important things, then! The battery isolator will be handled by a professional electrician tomorrow. I really donât want to set my van on fire or completely fry the circuitry by guessing on this detail. ????????
Yay for priorities. Are you on track?
This is a view that can be seen from my brother’s house in Lake Oswego. Wait do it to load the single photo:
https://foursquare.com/v/tryon-cove-park/4d4c97e2cca5f04d8d5d8080?openPhotoId=4f7a6625e4b0f9b6967bab03
10 years ago, I was already set to visit for a Thanksgiving and I did; however, work got into a super high profile transaction and I needed to do my part that had a deadline due the week after Thanksgiving. The view took the sting out of the work.
In Chant d’Aromes, from the swapmeet – it’s not as an easy a love as apres l’ondee, but I think it will grow on me. Totally inappropriate for the weather, I think – going to be 93 today.
I’m excited a review of Carat is coming soon!
Hopefully tomorrow!
Lately on Thursday afternoons (I go scent-free Thurs AM for clinic) I have been putting on a tiny dab of vintage Joy parfum. And you know what, it totally fits the gratitude theme – I am grateful to Dior for making me give this another try a few weeks ago. It was the first time I really “got” Joy and since then it has been bowling me over on the regular. Also grateful, as always for this hobby that allows me to live in beauty.
“Grateful for this hobby that allows me to live in beauty”–well said!!!
Love it.
Wearing Guerlain Cruel Gardenia.
I love Cruel Gardenia despite the perfume name not having anything to do with the scent.
You smell beautiful.
Thanks! The name is definitely not descriptive. I don’t know what I’d call it instead. To me it smells like a very expensive French soap, which is also not very descriptive!
Had a fancy for almond today and decided on Carita EDP but it turned out what I was really after was l’Instant Magic, so I’m wearing that this evening.
Phaedon Rue Des Lilas for me today. I like it but I donât think Iâll need a bottle once Iâm done with my decant.
Happy almost Friday to everyone!
Got a sample of that one and feel the same way about it as you do. You do smell nice!
Thanks! đ
SOTD = Ex-Nihilo Sweet Morphine
I smell and feel blissful. Powdery lilac mimosa and Iris with a vanilla drydown. Despite its poor longevity, I dig this. It was a gift from an NSTer who used to post here regularly.
I’m leaving for Washington DC for a short vacation. I haven’t packed yet ???????????? but hopefully can do it quickly tonight.
Now I need to get back to work!
I had the same experience with Sweet Morphine. I like my sample but not enough to buy it. Still…if a decant fell into my lap I’d wear it!
I always associate you with Prada Candy for its caramelly sweetness.
Have a great mini trip!
Thank you lillyjo!
It’s interesting that we both chose lilac scents today đ
Have a great mini-vacation!
Thank you and we have some kind of mind meld thing going on ????
That combo of notes sounds dreamy
It is. I like it the best out of everything I smelled from the line.
Happy to see that you’re heading to this neck of the woods soon! Waving —
Right back at you, FearsMice!
Enjoy your mini vacation! Will you make it to Arielle Shoshana?
Thank you, jalapeño.
The long answe: When I initially signed up for the tour, I thought there would be a window on Sunday afternoon; however, I am a lazybones as I have to make separate arrangements to make it…so I will save my visit for another day.
The short answer: No.
I came across a large planting of wormwood in the sensory garden yesterday. It has soft grey-green leaves shaped a bit like a daisy or leafy parsley. I picked some and bruised the leaves and at first it had a smell like starched cotton with a hint of celery. My brain was telling me that it ought to smell like absinthe so I sniffed again but my nose said cotton-celery. Then I crushed it a bit more and got a vague licorice. Crushed it more so the juice from the stems git on my fingers and took a big sniff and it was like that horrible pain of getting soap up your nose…stronger licorice but mostly searing pain. It went into the back of my throat which now felt raw in the way it does after vomitting. But my nose felt like someone had bored a hole in it. Stayed sore for four hours or so. Interesting though. It was definitely licorice scented but not as bitter as I imagined it should be. Definitely ( to me) cotton-like in small doses. Sampled Givenchy Interdit later which is sweet musky sadalwood/ patouchli and a bit similar to Mon Guerlain or modern Anais Anais original.
Whooo! Wormwood adventure! You won’t forget that experience soon đ
I read about wormwood in Arctander when I got home and found out it is called Mugwort in North America – who knew? Obviously lots of people but not me.
Not me either!
Just realised. Since i wear the same perfume m-f during the day (under the radar cause works scent ban) i haven’t participated beefy often in these threads.
But – i wear scent to bed every night! So gonna comment with those.
Last night was Cartier Must Gold. One of my favorite fall- winter nighttime sleep scents. The tiniest drop is perfect. Have worked halfway through a 2ml sample, and have 10ml spray on deck.
Can’t believe it took me over ayear to recognize i can still participate, lol! ????????????
I remember trying the original, didn’t know there was a Gold version. Glad you will be here more often!
Thanks! Gold is real nice, just a teensy touch more modern, but so true to the original.
Whatâs your under the radar scent?
It’s late, but if you are still reading:
Prada Infusion d’Iris, SJP Lovely, Burberry Brit Sheer. All applied the same way: 1 small spray down the front of my shirt before leaving the house.
I wear one or the other consecutively for long stretches. This summer it’s been the Prada, last fall through winter it was Lovely. I’ll switch back to that when the chill really gets into the air.
If anyone asks, it is lotion or hair product or dryer sheets. Those we are allowed to be scented. And i have some Aveda Shampure lotion in my desk, cause it’s awesome. So that’s my fourth scent, lol
Those are good ones although Iâm sure you would prefer to just wear whatever strikes your fancy each day
Good job you for being accommodating!
I dug into the sample pile today, hoping to get back on the THUNK train (I am ever optimistic), and came up with OJ Sampaquita.
Like almost all OJ scents, in the first five minutes I talk myself into buying a bottle, and in the next thirty I talk myself out of it. Lovely, a little spicy, it’s got a definite dried vegetation vibe that I quite like.
Oh no… last night I put some Salome on my dĂ©colletage and it was a little irritating and I just realized I kind of have a little rash now. Guys, is this the beginning of the end? Have I flaunted IFRA regulations too carelessly with my vintage obsession? Am I doomed to a worsening allergy that will eventually stop me from wearing perfume at all? hellllp
Oh, it can’t be Salome’s fault!!! Or any perfume’s fault. Sometimes a rash is just a rash… Hope you are already getting over it.
Oh dear. Do be careful — certainly I would not wear that one again for a long time.
I don’t think you need to worry about all perfumes causing a rash. I’d suggest being cautious about applying to the same area for a little while.
Oh, no! So sorry to hear this!
I developed a bad rash not so long ago to Mito EDP ( I love it so much and could easily trade my whole collection for the bottle).
Today was another episode of itchy and red skin- I reacted to Guerlain Angelique Noire đ WTH???? I used half of my travel bottle with no problem and now this… Arggghhhh! Will have to use AN with caution, apply it to my wrists and see what happens.
Boo hiss. If itâs anything like what happens to me, was it a slight sting and instant redness? Welcome to my world.
No it was fine at first then slightly itchy then a few moments of intense itchy and redness the next day? Both versions suck! Solidarity
Getting ready for an early dinner with a friend right now. I sprayed on Une Rose Vermeille because it is the only one that can stand up to heat and humidity but isn’t too much and doesn’t annoy me right now.
Who’d have thought that it’ll be still around 29*C in late September when I come back from holiday.
Ambra Calabria from Nishane was a good choice for today.
According to meteorologists, on Saturday we’ll be entering an Autumn season and maximum temperature will drop by 15 degrees!
Welcome back and enjoy the remaining hours of your summer!
Playing around with my Berdoues discovery set. They are actually quite decent especially for the niche-affordable price. Happy to discover this ????
What’s your favorite so far?
Thanks for all the sweet birthday wishes yesterday. It was a fun movie, and dinner was truly wonderful. A lovely little place and delicious food. I had a roasted corn chilled soup that was made very interesting by little floaty chunks of vanilla panne cotta. So yummy.
And my husband got tickets for us to see Boz Scaggs in November. I have a soft spot for Boz from growing up in the Bay Area.
Wearing Saint Julep as I head down to do boatloads of laundry… Real life returns, including a call to complain to Spectrum about our spotty internet service. I have lost connection multiple times today. This keeps happening. Good news is theyâre sending someone tomorrow. Bad news is one of the big banks Iâve been dealing with still has not properly adjusted the cost basis on my dadâs account, which is preventing me from selling securities. This is a big problem for both them and me as fiduciaries to the account. A manager is supposed to call me. Sometimes I wish we still lived in little houses on the prairie….
Happy belated B-day! That soup sounds marvelous.
Happy belated b-day, LizzieB! And boo on sloppy work by the bank. On the Internet service, I had quite the problem I think 2 years ago in April. I ended up getting credit for 2/3 of the month.
Weird day for me today. I can honestly say that this is the first time I have ever thrown a praying mantis out of the house! I just scooped it up with a piece of junk mail, and plopped it into the flowerbeds to hurt for bug there. ????????????????
SOTD = by Killian Woman in Gold, from the sample stash and the ever generous Hajusuuri. It smells like a spicy orange creamsicle with a hint of wood on me. Nice! I bet that it will smell even better in cooler fall temps.
Oh wow. They are pretty rare in my area. At least you gave it a good home.
We’ve seen them a few times before in the yard, but NEVER in the house. I’m glad I saw it before the cats did! ????
If I recollect from my superstitions, that means good luck. Woman in Gold is really nice, so far the only Killian that gets along with me.
I remember something about crickets being good luck, but haven’t heard about mantises (sp?).
A spicy orange creamsicle sounds pretty appealing! So nice to find something delicious in the sample stash.
I did not look up any perfume notes before trying it, to keep from smelling “phantom” notes. I could see Woman in Gold being a lovely Thanksgiving scent and fitting in with all the cooking smells.
Argh! That should have been “hunt” for bugs. not hurt for bugs!
Nice! I love Woman in Gold!
You bug catch and release reminds me of my grandfather’s fly catch and release mojo. He used to scoop the up with his bare hands, opened the door and open his palm to release the fly.
Putting spiders back outside is the normal thing for us. Better that they are there, eating some of the bugs that would otherwise annoy me! ????????
What amazing speed and skill he had, hajusuuri!
He did! Although he drank daily (1-2 beers a day and several shots of Johnnie Walker Red), he used to keep fit by walking home from the office (it was probably 10 miles a day). He lived 94 years through the combination of exercise and his internal organs preserved by alcohol.
Was having a slumber party at my parents’ house on Labor Day weekend and my brother was down from SF visiting. About 9:30 pm on the iPad (gazing at perfume of course) on an air mattress in the dark with my 5 year old next to me, I felt something thunk and land on my head. So I flicked it away and scrambled to get my phone light and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a preying mantis. It was crazy. I got a plastic cup and gathered it up and showed it to my brother because I knew everyone in the house would say I was nuts and/or it was a cricket etc. in the morning. He put it outside and it was gone the next morning. I was scared I hurt it but I think it was just a but stunned. As was I. So strange. Perhaps they are abundant this year. It must mean good luck for us. ????????
SOTD was Montale Sunset Flowers. Last time I wore it (in 2015!), I thought it had a strong celery note. Didn’t get that today, it behaved itself pretty well.
Joining the thankful-it’s-almost-Friday crowd…
Good. It behaved for you today!
Wearing a few sprays of Vol de Nuit EDT tonight; it’s a bit smoky and so so good. Have a great night everyone!
I havenât smelled VdN in a long time and I have a FB. Time to pull it out!
