It's the last Monday in August, it's Tom Ford's birthday, and if you're in Texas, it's Lyndon Baines Johnson Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm leaving for the beach in a few hours, for a last-gasp-of-summer vacation, wearing Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum. The matching fabric: cotton gauze.
Reminder: on 8/31 we're doing Fabric Friday...wear a perfume named for some type of clothing or fabric, OR wear a scent you associate with a certain kind of clothing or fabric, OR wear a perfume with a fabric-related note (suede, cotton, etc). Suggested by Glannys.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: Island Breeze Gauze Blush Pink Fabric is $3.95 a yard at Fabric.com.
Neroli Portofino, for Tom Ford. Association is a white bikini.
That sounds exactly right.
Perfect.
Pushing back up into the 90’s today today so I pulled out Imaginary Authors The Soft Lawn. ????????????????.
Hope everyone has a great start to the week.
PS Robin…Enjoy the beach.
Thank you!
Very appropriate for the opening day of the US Open!
Woo hoo! Love the US Open.
Wearing Prada Infusion d’Iris.
Someone compared this scent to a white silk shirt, and I agree. Light, simple and elegant.
Yes!
Perfect
Robin, your dedication to the beach sustains me.
I am wearing Diorling.
I am always happier when I am near water ????
And you smell great.
I can relate to that feeling 🙂
Accidentally participating in PG Cuir d’Iris (leather as fabric – yeah, it works), but if I’d know it was Tom Ford’s birthday I probably would have chosen Violet Blonde. Wanted warm spiciness this morning.
Not a fabric today, but things that are made out of fabric: I’m in Costume National Homme, spicy and outdoorsy, sort of a cross between Hermes Rocabar and Caron Yatagan. It’s just terrific.
Great choice. You smell fantastic.
PSA…just got this email from Arielle Shoshana:
“Our free shipping offer on Arielle Shoshana travel sprays has been so popular that we’re opening it to everyone! From here on out, every single size option of Arielle Shoshana Eau de Parfum (samples, travel sprays, and full bottles) always ships free!”
What a great thing to do! I hope this
means things are going well for her store.
I’m so thrilled she’s selling travel sprays now.
That is awesome news Robin!
I bought 3 and Ari left a cute note that outside of her own shop, I own the most number of travel sprays!
Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa.a Bright yellow swimshort.Or a picnic blanket under a huge lemon tree.
Happy Week!
X
Perfect!!
I finished the last of a sample of Cuir Ottoman. For some reason it reminds me of the camel saddle ottomans that were in my home when I was a child in Germany.
Beautiful perfume! You smell fantasric????????
Enjoy the beach Robin!
Smelling good in Chanel 22 EdT.
Have a peaceful Monday everyone!
You smell divine! Is this from your summer bottle use it up rotation?
Thank you! No, I will never take my Chanel perfumes to the Use it Up Project. At least, not any time in the near future. I treasure them dearly.
Unfortunately, I do not think I will finish any of my summer full bottles by the end of the season, but I am spraying lavishly to at least reduce the amount of juice in some bottles.
Don’t ever thunk no 22…it’s a beauty! and yes, even if you aren’t thunking you are at least using and enjoying and whittling down those bottles 🙂
No. 22 is a beautiful perfume, but not one of my favorites from Chanel. If I remember well I got that bottle like almost 8-9 years ago. I know the incense in the newer bottles, like mine, is not that noticeable, but alas, I am always expecting to get at least a waft! 🙁
from what I read the vintage cologne had the highest amount of frankincense…even with less incense I am sure you are smelling divine!!!!
Oh good, I was secretly hoping you wouldn’t thunk it????
No way! ????
Lol.I was meaning to ask for quite some time, what our rules are in the THUNK-IT club!Do we only thunk perfumes we will never replace again?Or do we thunk A bottle, but there is a bub in the wings?Just curious what you guys’ system is,as I have thunked bottles in all categories, including dearly beloved ones!(Cafe Chantant, needs replacement before Summer starts!)
I have no hard fast rules… just kinda go with the flow…up until recently I haven’t had any bubs. I guess I am THUNKING things that I am okay with not having for the time being.
I think that as long as we reduce our huge collection, no matter what perfume you THUNK. In my case I will work on the bottles that have less juice and I like less. My intention is to keep a collection of perfumes (full bottles and decants) that I really love, so I will not THUNK everything. I will finish all samples and eventually get decants or full bottles of those samples that I really love.
Great!Thanks CM8 and PFL67!
I’ve been doing it kinda randomly myself,as I usually grab whichever perfume catches my eye first in the mornings.I wish I was more organised like setting out clothes and a perfume for the next day.
I do feel a need for No.5 for tomorrow though(silk sheets, only because of Marilyn!)
I love 22. You smell so good!
Thank you KellyC! ????
I haven’t ever been able to smell incense in No. 22. 🙁 You are smelling very elegant today!
Thanks you Jalapeno! Let’s hope someday we can get that incense in No 22. For now we need to keep enjoying the rest of the beautiful notes!
MFK Aqua Universalis Forte. This reminds me of a floral cotton – high quality cotton with a sheen – made into a sheath dress. (However, I am actually wearing a sleeveless black knit Eileen Fisher dress with a magenta linen cardi.) 🙂
You are tres chic and good-smelling on top of it!
Awww, thanks.
In Ouarzazate this cool morning. Fabric? It would be muslin of course.
Last night my 17 year old son said he wanted a few more decants and a refill… The refill was Timbuktu… the decants (admittedly he did not sniff all of my perfumes, but he did try many of them) were:
Shangri La
Cedrus
1969
Jicky
Stash
Chergui
I was so proud (flutters hands and pats chest…)!
Congratulations on parenting the best smelling 17 year old in the world
Wow, he has great taste!
Ditto this! Nice job, Mom!
You are lucky Oakland because my three marzipans just steal the bottles and expect ME to decant for myself 🙂
You should be proud!
That is one great smelling 17 year old!
That is wonderful and adorable 🙂
That’s a great list. Nicely curated.
Nice!Jealous of his “Stash”!????????????????
Wow, he has good taste and a decent scent collection with all that!
Good job you, mama!
Robin, hope your last gasp of summer is fabulous!
I’m in the beautiful Naja courtesy of a generous NSTer. Celebrating the first of four days off! This is my kind of Monday.
Have a fun four days off!
Thanks, lillyjo! I’ll try my best. ????
Jealous about your 4 days off 😀 Enjoy!
This is one of the pros of working 12 hour shifts. There are some cons, but I try to stay focused on the days off, because I live for them!
Hear hear!I actually miss 12 hour shifts, just for the extra full days off!(not complaining, seeing I have not worked a real shift on a Friday since 2002…lol)
Enjoy your days off!
Thank you KellyC. Give that beautiful bird a little scritch for me!
Enjoy Deva!!!!
And I adore how T-REX is “working hard” LOL ???? ????
She has an amazing work ethic. ????
LOL. I could eat her up???????????? too adorable for words
Enjoy your time off Deva! And give T-Rex a scritch from me.
Enjoy your time off…mine will come starting this Thursday!
Started the morning in Olfactive Studio Panorama, then Balmain Jolie Madame (best suited to my black and grey outfit and clunky Danish leather clogs) and now trying Ted Lapidus Silk Way. A blind buy because of the Non Blonde -$10.
I love Jolie Madame.
What do you think of silk way? I blind bought it for the exact same reason and although I enjoyed it, I didn’t seem to reach for it that often and swapped it a while back. AND I love me some clunky clogs (of any nationality)!
The last Monday in August.☹️This Friday we take my daughter to college. I have been very comfortable in my state of denial for most of the summer, but yesterday the reality of the situation hit me like a ton of bricks. Denial is no longer an option and now I am just profoundly sad. Trying not to let my sadness overshadow these last few days that we have together. I don’t want to squelch my daughter’s excitement, or any anxiety she might be having. I needed something comforting today, so SotD is Lea.
This too shall pass.
I’ve never been in the parent’s role for this situation, so I have no words of wisdom. But my thoughts are with you during this very big transition. You’ve raised an amazing girl!
Thanks sistine. I think she’s pretty amazing, but of course I am totally biased.????
Sometimes the only way out is through.
You can do it, madtown mama!
These words are so true. I needed that, thank you tiffanie.☺️
Echoing what sistine said. You did a great job!
Thanks lillyjo!????
Hugs to you, mama!
Thanks ElisaP, hugs greatly appreciated!????
Sending hugs!
Thanks pl67!
I will be thinking of you, madtowngirl. I thought it was easier for me given that I already went through it once but it’s not. I am still an anxious mama as mini marzipan no 2 left last Sunday! Good luck to your daughter as she heads off to an adventure and wishing peace and equanimity during this tough time for you 🙂
Thanks CM8. I knew it would be hard and so I (foolishly I suppose) tried to push it to the back of my mind. As my mother would say, “time to quit hiding under the bed.” Lol.
Wishing you ☮️ too!
I didn’t cry when we left Bookworm at college ten hours’ drive away — I was excited for her to have such great opportunities and new exciting experiences! — but I was surely sad to not have her *around* every day. I missed her. It’s awfully nice now to have her graduated and gainfully employed and living with us to save some cash for grad school.
I did get a little teary when I saw Gaze with his new haircut (he was practically bald), and I PORED over the pics of New Cadet Week, but mostly I was just sad to not have him around every day. (I got similarly sniffly the first time he ever got a haircut… his baby hair was fine and yellow like a dandelion, and the cut turned him from my baby to a little boy.)
Taz only has one more year at home, now. I’m trying to appreciate it even when he’s driving me nuts by, say, forgetting to tell me his schedule. Or his lunch.
I tend to be happier when I can talk to a faraway kid on a regular basis. We instituted “call home Sundays” with Bookworm, and Gaze is *supposed* to be doing that, too, when he remembers. Eye roll.
Best wishes to Mini Madtown!! I hope she has a fabulous year.
I am hoping I will be all cried out by the time we drop her off on Friday. Lol. But seriously, I do.
Yes, that is what I will miss most too, just having her around. The background chatter of her and her sister as I make dinner…just the simple, everyday stuff.
I am excited for her too though! I think she will thrive. I also think she will be better at staying in touch than her brother was/ is.
Plus, we already have our Airbnb booked for parents’ weekend so I already have a college visit to look forward to!
(((Hugs))), mom. I have been missing my college guy terribly, so I get it.
Thanks KellyC! Raising children to send them out into the world is tough!???? Hugs back!
Huge Hug!
Thanks johanob!
Aww, I hope you’re feeling better soon. No kids here, but I can imagine the anxiety that comes when they test their wings. Especially when the kiddo is female, I think I would be even more anxious. I’m sure, as excited as she is, she’ll be missing you a whole bunch, too.
Thanks Deva. I think my better half worries more about the fact that she’s a girl than I do. She is much more level headed and cautious than I was at that age. I’m hoping those attributes will serve her well!
Big hugs, madtowngirl! Two of my dearest friends from college sent their own kids off to college as freshmen this year. I hope all the parents I know will feel less anxious soon.
Thanks Jalapeno!
Good luck with the drop off!
Thanks hajusuuri!
Stay strong madtowngirl!
Thank you Robin! I’m trying my best, but it is so hard!
I’m wearing Passage D’Enfer today. I would pair it with a cool grey cardigan. I’m wearing black and white stripes for mime day (spirit week, woo!) and wish I had thrown a grey cardi on top.
Have a great week everyone!
Have a great week too. I like your mime stripes. Very cool.
Wearing Soivohle Honeysuckle Bird because it was near Velvet Gardenia on my shelf. I love Velvet Gardenia but it’s a bit strong for work. Sigh.
I always have to remind myself (or, in this case, let somebody else like you remind me) to wear some of my Soivohle collection. I’m getting up and going to the perfume cabinet right now…..
Now I’m in Night Jar, and feeling very good about it. 🙂
SotD = Terracotta
Robin, you smell great. Love it when I can tag on to a scent inspiration on NST. Agree Terracotta goes perfectly with a gauzy cotton.
Looking forward to this week’s theme and Friday CP. I’ve always loved fabrics, decorating, sewing, and so on.
Over the weekend when I read Roger Moore’s name I had to stifle a giggle, couldn’t figure out why. This morning I remembered, you can skip to about 1:50 to see why:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gjiQwh1p6M
hysterical!
yeah, right? I’ve watched that clip many times and it always gets me laughing. Bill Murray is amazing.
Haha! That was a fun moment for sure!
😀
Bill Murray! They broke the mold after him????
Mould, even!
Definitely one of a kind! and I’m a Japan-o-phile, so that movie hits a lot of right notes for me.
You are smelling beautiful in Terracotta!
thanks, Jalapeno!
Hey twin!
Going to the dentist today and wearing no 19 extrait. I needed something that would stand up to the heat but won’t be overwhelming. Later on I will be drenched in vintage Jicky.
Hope that your dentist trip was not a big deal.
This week, I’ll try to wear samples of things of dubious attraction to my nose in an effort to figure out what samples I’d like to give away during the swapmeet. To that end, I am wearing Vetyverio EDT. A kind NSTer sent me a sample of this during the last swapmeet, and I found it rather caustic. Today, though, it’s a gorgeous, gentle, musky, woody vetiver that opened with a delightful spray of citrus. I’m quite enjoying it and don’t know why I disliked it last time!
I’m no good at this perfume-to-fabric thing, but I might liken this scent to a super lightweight, see-through silk.
Lazy split offer: I mentioned this over the weekend, but I’ll post it a couple more times! I got a bottle of SL Sa Majeste la Rose on Fragrancenet for $68, and since I’ve promised myself to split all FBs I buy, is anyone interested in some? $19 for 10 mL, $12 for 5 mL in a heavy-gauge atomizer including shipping. Will split up to 20 mL. E-mail me at ko bhatta at jeemail if you’re interested!
I am interested. I will email you.
Hooray! Looking forward to sharing the love and assuaging my purchasing guilt.
Koyel, if you are interested in seeing some of Roger Moore’s old stuff, I strongly suggest checking out episodes of the TV series “The Saint”. I think that show is part of why he ended up becoming James Bond.
Thanks for the tip! I might have to look into that!
Robin you smell great! Terracota is my favorite beachy/suntan lotion perfume. I’m in BVlGARI eau the noir for a dreary cold and rainy day here in Jackson Hole, WY. It’s struggling to get to 50 degrees here today!
Dang! For the 50 degrees:( we are 90 today, cold front midweek though.
I have to confess I’m really looking forward to that cold front. I can’t stand this humidity anymore.????
Shhh…. you can think it, just don’t say it out loud ????
I heard that parts of Montana and Wyoming got a decent bit of early snow overnight. ❄❄❄
I need an asprin, and a quiet place now….
50! But we will be there soon enough.
Hello! I made peanut butter cookies last night from a special recipe where you add in a cup of ground peanuts, and MMMM are they good! My SOTD is Initio Rehab from my fun set of samples Luckyscent included recently. This is a nice one with bergamot and spice and tobacco. I have no particular fabric association, except perhaps it belongs to a tweedy professor of the old-fashioned sort who wore Jicky and smoked a really good-smelling pipe.
Peanut butter cookies are my FAV! I’m drooling thinking of yours.
Last week when I was flipping through my copy of The Guide after it arrived, I saw that they gave Jo Malone Basil & Neroli 4 stars. It reminded me to wear it before the weather gets cooler and also reminded me how much I love it and keep smelling myself when I wear it. Today it seemed especially appropriate to pair with my lemon print silk shirt worn under an oversized black sleeveless dress.
I’d probably also pair Basil &Neroli with a white terrycloth dress or robe.
I went through some of my collection and pulled out those with fabric names. I don’t have as many as I thought I might, but I do plan to wear those most of the week.
I had some of this from a Sephora bonus and was surprised how much I liked it! I’ve not been much of a JM fan in the past but this has been great wear for this summer’s soaring heat. I may even get more when the mini runs out.
it’s nice in the winter too when you need a refreshing pick me up.
I like it way more than I expected. It’s been a long time since I’ve fallen for a Jo Malone, though to be fair, I don’t make a point to sample them when they come out.
Tauer L’Eau. I would say this matches with a baby blue, light weight summer sweater.
Yes, perfect match!
LL Thé Noir 29 from a sample I forgot I had. I’d call this shiny, black, spandex. Thoroughly synthetic and modern. I like it, but my sample will suffice.
Sounds very office appropriate!
Ha! Better than black latex, I suppose.
Fiori di Capri in the heat and humidity… Fabric? Most likely cotton sheets drying on the line drying in the hot sun.
SotD is Ormonde Woman!
You smell wonderful! That one is so amazing.
Thank you! Yes it is amazing 🙂
I love Woman, you smell great!
Thanks 🙂 i love it as well!
My mind is too fried to think about how to pair this one-
Villa of the Mysteries Carthago…dry fig, rose, calamus, styrax and labdanum….
if anyone can help me with regard to the CP please do.
An enabler pin to cassieflower, Undina and perfumelover67 for making me break my no buy because after all the chatter about my travel bottle of Heaven I broke down and bought a new one for dirt cheap (25 USD for 100 ml free shipping). Undina says I don’t need to report it to donatella because it is a “trinket” to remind me of a special time in my life. Cassieflower says her work is done. PLS67 said I had better buy it because as it becomes more scarce the cost could potentially go into the hundreds on ebay (yeah! Looking at you GAP Grass and GAP Om!!!!) and Portia of Australian Perfume Junkies says a new bottle of an old love DOES NOT COUNT as breaking a no buy rule…..OK, confession is over!!!
No excuses! No matter what, you MUST report to Donatella and give us some company this time! 😀 😀 :D.
Enjoy your new bottle! 🙂
Hey!!! i thought you were on my side 😉 LOL!
thanks pls67, I will definitely enjoy it when it arrives and finally give my skin some heaven 🙂
Or can I offset it with all of my recent THUNKS ????
Absolutely “NO”. ????????????
ha! can’t blame a gal for trying!!!
At LEAST 5 more thunks should make it even.Lol
Thanks for backing me up LOL ???? ????????????
That’s a truly impressive job of rationalization there!
Ha! pretty good, right? and as you can see I have had some ‘enabler’ helping me with those rationalizations!
I think it’s great you bought it. You still love it, that’s rare. Oh btw, Eugene is back up and running.
OOO! thank you! I will watch tonight!!!
I have another temptation for you: Hurraw Echium Raspberry tinted balm. It’s terrific, a great berry stain.
Ha! thank you Kanuka!!! I have the cherry tinted one but love raspberry flavor as well so will need to look for it next time I am perusing Vitacost!
It’s tinted with purple carrots and creates sheer pink rosy lips…..yeah, I want it! Enabler pin for you Kanuka cause when I see it I will be getting it!!!!
I prefer it to the cherry…the colour is a bit more blue toned. My hurraw collection is getting rather large
They are addictive, right? And multiple like rabbits ????????????????????
Applause all around for your fragrance purchasing acumen! ????????????????????????????????Such a great deal that I think if you also bought a bottle or two of an expensive perfume, you could still call it even.
Also, I think you earn “perfume credit” for every day you accomplish a successful “No Buy.” When you stack up all that credit, pretty sure you have earned the right to buy whatever the he** you want…! ????
thanks Deva….you just made my day 🙂 It is challenging going day after day avoiding temptation!!!!
Well…early confession then from me as well, but I shall be breaking the “No-Buy” in December…Lol.
My eyes are firmly fixed on at least one Amouage, one MFK,and one Roja Dove I have been coveting since forever and is finally available in SA.
December is bonus-month,and I always treat myself REALLY good then.
(plus there is a Fornasetti that needs to be replaced….Lol)
go for it…you have been thunking a lot yourself…enough to add one or two more to your collection…and December is holiday month as well!
Glad to hear that you found an old perfume love for a reasonable price!
yes, it has great sentimental value so I guess, in a way, it “needed” to be replaced.
Donatella ???? ????
LOL ????????
I’m in No. 19 because it’s Monday. Enough of a reason in my book. Although if I’d known it was Tom’s bday I would have worn one of his. I’ll thrown on a spritz of Noir de Noir tonight.
Spent the weekend furniture shopping. Our “new” house we got (back in January lol) is larger than our last and it’s been looking rather sparse and we have a lot of company visiting this fall/winter. We got an office chair for my desk (we’d been using a lawn chair ha!), accent chair for our bedroom, side table and lamp for the guest bedroom, sun room patio furniture. I’m glad to get it all furnished so we can just enjoy it now. The sunroom is my favorite. It’s where I watch the birds, deer, coyotes, etc. so I am SUPER excited about the new patio furniture for in there.
Your sunroom sounds like paradise
So fun to make a house a home! ????
That sun room would be my favorite too!
I’m very excited for your sunroom, too 🙂 sounds wonderful!
Sounds lovely! Enjoy ????
???? No.19 and your sunroom sounds fabulous!
Chanel Cristalle EdT. Cotton lawn, extra starch.
Hey Twin! Nice one and I’m borrowing your idea because I’m too tired to come up with my own.
I bought a Berdoues sample set last summer and wound up putting it aside due the size of my sample sea. I pulled it out last night and grabbed Selva Do Brazil today (mainly because I loved the leafy packaging). It was a good choice – I’m not really getting the listed notes, just a pretty green scent with both sweet and bitter aspects.
I thought Selva Do Brazil was a dead ringer for Mugler Cologne, which is my SOTD. Twins, sorta!
Oooh, I love Mugler Cologne but don’t find them similar. MC has a strong neroli-ish note on me.
Interesting! Admittedly, I didn’t try them side-by-side.
I liked the greenness of this. You smell very nice.
I’m always excited to find a light, non-citrus scent for the end of summer – it stays hot here until October and I am usually very sick of my citrussy colognes by this time of year . . .
Wearing La Danza delle Libellule by Nobile 1942. Apples, vanilla and cinnamon.
Perfect fabric match would be white, dotted swiss curtains, wafting in a gentle breeze with sunlight behind them
I love dotted swiss!
Bas de Soie. Silk stockings.
Excellent! I have it too, so I can piggyback on your idea come Friday.
I’m in Petit Matin by MFK. Maybe this is a pale cotton eyelet dress? I’m probably too literal-minded for this challenge. I really only wore this because it’s hot out and this just plain smells nice. Never have to think twice about it, especially in the summer.
This Thursday we are starting to potty train the big potato (just turned two), so all I will be smelling for several days is Lysol 🙂
Big potato, LOL! Good luck!
Ha! Good luck on the potty training!
Good luck with the potty training!
Oy! Best of luck with the potty training! Might want to get a BUB of that Lysol…
Ha!
Ahahaha big potato, that’s adorable 🙂 good luck!
Ha! Big potato! I love it. My brother had the best and worst experiences with his sons: the older one got trained literally overnight (Nephew 1 said OK and that was it). The other one took months…Nephew 2 wanted to get into big boy pants but only if he can go 7 days without wetting his bed…he would go 5 days and then relapse so the count starts again from zero.
I’m wearing Lady Vengeance from a sample and frankly, not happy about it. I will switch after work. Yesterday I smelled Dior Joy very briefly. It’s ok, but even the SA mentioned that it was very young and pointed to what’s her name. I also smelled Oud Wood for the first time. (Loved, got a sample) and Ombre Leather, which I liked. Weird question, I saw a perfume video where the person was complaining about perfumes that come in plastic bottles. I’ve never seen one in plastic, is that a thing?
I thought you would like Ombre Leather and I am glad that you got to try it. Next time I am in a Sephora I will spray myself silly with it. I am rather fond of it too.
I think some of the Victoria Secrets come in plastic atomizers…but it might just be the body mists?
I could smell the similarities with Tuscan Leather but Ombre seemed fruitier at the top. I need to try it again though, because I had already sprayed some others by that point.
I never tried Tuscan Leather but next time I am in SAKs I will give it a try because I know Peter/Fragranceview loves it…and I enjoyed Eugene immensely….he said something about taking his videos down (did not give a reason, though) but said he was touched by everyone reaching out to him.
Certainly NOT the good stuff,no.Lol.Most body mists yes, even the ones from Elizabeth Arden et al that recently started to come out,are in plastic bottles.I have perfume in anything and everything from porcelain to crystal, but never plastic.
That’s what I thought. This lady just went on and on about how she wished more perfume houses would use glass bottles, but she never said who uses plastic. Odd.
Jean Nate used to come in huge plastic splash bottles when I was a kid. Good idea, seeing as how people were using it in the bathroom after a summer shower.
Yeah, I thought of Jean Nate too, but I guess I differentiate between fragrance and perfume, and she kept saying perfume. I don’t comment on video’s, otherwise I would just ask her.
What’s not working with Lady Vengeance on you, if you don’t mind me asking?
For some reason today, all I got from LV was a massive rose bouquet. I ended up with a headache. I’ve enjoyed it in the past, so I think it must be this crazy humidity.
Yeah, I’ve had a few “perfume surprises” in humid weather. Some good, and some not so much.
She’s probably referring to the Elizabeth Arden/Rihanna/JLO body mists that someone is always hosing themselves down with, at Marshalls/Ross/TJMAXX. 😉
Youtube videos are like opinions and *******s, everybody’s got one. ????????????????????
I asked my son if he would help me do a YouTube video about perfume. He just turned and walked away ???? (and now I’m singing The Babys????????)
????????????????
A video would be so much fun (for me)! Do it! ????
The Dior Joy bottle actually looks better in person and the cap is magnetic and swirls closed without any effort!
I’m wearing Penhaligon’s The Ruthless Countess Dorothea (dumb name). Ginger, cinnamon, beeswax, and vanilla but not sweet.
I don’t know kinds of fabric at all, so I’ll probably copy one of you.
How about a pastry cloth? I have one for rolling pie crust.
Wearing La Rose de Rosine, red velvet I think.
Tea was MF Montagne de Jade.
Sounds pretty. I haven’t tried anything from this house.
They have quite a good sample set. You have to love rose though and some of the great ones have been discontinued. But Ecume de Rose, Un Zest de Rose and La Rose are very good and all still in production. Zest and Ecume are light and summery roses, whereas La Rose is more of a big and majestic rose. Not that heavy though.
Beaufort’s Coeur de Noir: an old long black heavy linen jacket, with a leather pouch of rolling tobacco in one pocket, and an ink stained notebook in the other.
Well that sounds good.
it’s kind of librarian-turned-pirate. I love it.
Despite not being in a huge rush I somehow left home without putting on a perfume this morning. Now in some Stash, aka an ebp (emergency backup perfume) from my desk drawer.
You smell great – I quite like Stash.
I am assembling an EBP and accessories (bracelet and earrings) without which I feel nekkid.
Hey, I have backup earrings at work too! Sadly, it’s because I often lose one.
Back into the muggies today! Bleah! I wish I was at the beach, too. Enjoy it Robin!
SOTD = back to Alien Aqua Chic EdT Legere. I wanted to wear this due to my current weather. If I had to think of a fabric association for it, then Alien Aqua Chic would be paired with a neon colored, long sleeved rash guard, for staying safe while having fun on a beach somewhere.
We were so close to being sent twins today! I shouldn’t have second guessed myself.
Well, tomorrow is another day! ????
I went to Wegmans after work and yeah, the muggies are back in full force. It is all kinds of wrong to pipe out pumpkin spice OUTSIDE in this weather…it felt like being roasted.
Funny you should mention Wegman’s. I was there yesterday. Lots of rose wine and pumpkin beers in the liquor section, which was a pretty weird juxtaposition. NOT ready for the pumpkin stuff just yet!
Pretty darned humid here too tonight!
I guess this week is going to be leather, leather and leather. While it is pretty warm in California, our A/C is working overtime. I am pairing my Leather Jacket with Grand Cuir (perfume retro). I really really really like it, especially after the first 90 minutes, but I do not think i can handle anything more than a 5 ml decant.
I thought about leather as well but coukdb’t Stomach any butch ones (Cuir 28).
I had lots of leather in mind when I came up with this project, but I am not in the mood for leather when it’s hot. It’s fun to to interpret the project differently than I planned though.
SOTD = Assam of India
My nose is not sophisticated enough to pick up the frankincense but regardless, I enjoyed my 10 sprays without gassing out anyone – not with tea and lemon.
I probably should have saved this for Friday because now I have to think of another one that is perfume-phobe friendly.
The Assam of India bottle with its rows of elephants reminds me of the Vera Bradley Pink Elephant (ret.) fabric pattern.
