French niche line Jovoy Paris has launched Remember Me, a new oriental fragrance.
Two years ago, Jovoy founder François Henin asked [perfumer Cécile] Zarokian to accompany him on a trip to the Middle East to find an idea for a new fragrance. The story goes that they sampled their way through all sorts of beautiful attars, mukhallats and bakhoors, but in Henin’s words, “it all belonged to the world of the Middle East and we did not want to simply copy their ideas.”
Inspiration finally struck while the pair were visiting local friends and enjoying a special, spicy sweet tea called Karak tea. The beverage, made from a combination of black tea, cardamom pods, cinnamon, clove, ginger and sweetened milk, possesses a unique and distinctive aroma. As Zarokian sipped from her cup, the heady floral aroma of frangipani drifted into the room causing her to remark to Henin that the scent of frangipani reminded her of her honeymoon and that one day she hoped to capture its unique aroma in a soliflore composition.
Notes include lemon, bergamot, cardamom, frangipani, ginger, black tea, milk, cedar, woods and vanilla.
Jovoy Paris Remember Me is available now at Fumerie, $180 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Wonder if this will resemble a more floral Unknown Pleasures by Kerosene?
Ah, I was already interested and now you’ve made me more interested 🙂
So interested!
This sounds wonderful!
Yep.
Popped into their shop in Conduit Street when I was in London recently. Not overly impressed with their customer service.
What a shame! Hope that was a one-off bad staff member.
There were a few members of staff in the shop at the time. Can only surmise that I didn’t “look the part” – something all too common in many upmarket shops here in the UK, although not something I experienced in the Lalique shop opposite Jovoy where the lovely lady remembered me from last December when I bought earrings or indeed the Georg Jensen shop in Mount Street, Mayfair – though this may have been because the staff are obviously incredibly well educated in the history of GJ & I was wearing vintage GJ earrings!
So in both other cases they were more likely to think you’d buy something, which isn’t entirely heartwarming either! You’d like to think SAs would be nice to any potential customer.
I take your point, Robin, but it’s not like you you to be cynical! The lady in Lalique remembered exactly what I bought & I only mentioned I’d been there in December, which I thought was very good customer service indeed, & the ladies in GJ immediately notice & remarked on my vintage earrings, asking where I’d bought them etc. But yes, staff in shops should not judge a book by its cover, for sure. I remember my late father, who worked for a company located round the corner from The Ritz in London, being horrified by a young man driving a Lamborghini or Maserati or similar car & being beautifully dressed, but not wearing socks – as if someone who drove such a prestigious vehicle should know better – still makes me smile all these years later!
Oh, I’m pretty cynical, I’m just usually pretty cheerful about it!
That’s a great story about your dad.
So has anybody tried this? I was so tempted by the notes that I entered a draw on cafleurebon, but I can’t figure out how to check if I won 🙂 cafleurebon is kind of a cryptic blog to me
