It's Hump Day and Lucky Penny Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm earning double points (and smelling delicious) in A Lab On Fire Paris*LA.
Reminder: on 5/25 we're doing Oh the Places You’ll Go...wear a perfume with a place name. Suggested by Elisa.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is Macarons (Bottega Louie) [cropped] by Jenny Huey at flickr; some rights reserved.
Robin, you smell great—but remind me why it’s double points?
I’m in Theorema Esprit d’Ete for no points other than smelling delicious. Happy Hump Day!
Because of two cities in the name? (Paris and LA)
Oh duh! I am sure you are right!
Exactly!
I found a dime yesterday. I figure that was my very lucky penny day!
I do not know your scent, Robin, but a great choice for the CP.
I am in Dior Escale a Portofino – lemonade for your macarons. 😉
Mine is cola + macarons — your lemonade would be much classier!
Oh, I love Escale a Portofino – you smell wonderful!
I neex to try that!
Wallowing in Bottega Veneta thanks to a generous NSTer sending me a decant and triggering an instant need.
Technically, Bottega translates to workshop, which is a (non-specific) place, but frankly, I simply wanted to smell incredible, and theis scent does that.
BV really is perfect., I’m hoarding the rest of my decant for awhile. You smell divine!
You smell great today!
BV is in my top 10, great scent.
Bottega Veneta translates to Venetian workshop, so you definitely get points! ???? It is one of my favorites as well. I finished a bottle a few months ago and replaced it already.
You smell very refined 🙂
Bottega Veneta is one of my desert island scents. You smell wonderful!
I love Paris*LA! Still searching for that elusive cola perfume though…
Celebrating the sunshine with Lubin Gin Fizz. Gin isn’t a place but I guess you could say it’s a state of mind!
I am always looking for the perfect cola fragrance as well!
Me three.
I get cola from Coromandel when I wear it during summer. Mostly as a sleep scent… ????
That’s an odd connection there; I wonder why (i.e., what note in it triggers the association?).
For awhile I used to like Boucheron Trouble, until a friend commented that it smelled like root beer. I could never un-smell it and wound up giving that bottle away.
Hopefully the Cola association isn’t ruining Coromandel for you–doesn’t sound like it.
What I love about Coromandel in the heat is that it brings out the incense notes. The cola is there too but it doesn’t bother me. I actually prefer it during summer. I almost never reach for it during winter. I’m weird I guess.
Youth Dew Bath Oil is 100 % Cola on me.
Has anyone tried Cola by Outramer? It smells just like you popped open a can of Coca Cola. And for $20 @ smallflower in’s an easy cheap thrill. ???? sometimes I layer it with their Vanilla for something a little sweeter.
Need to try that.
SL’s Cuir Mauresque smells like a spicy cola to me, I get very little leather at all.
Terrible storm last night. Commando today, since I’ll be cleaning up tree limbs that are all over lawn & drive. Gutters are also clogged with debris, so need to call someone to clear them. I am tired of this rainy weather. At least sunny today. Maybe a scented bath this eve.
Ugh! Good luck with the clean up.
Thanks everyone for all your good wishes and prayers regarding my mother’s fall. They were much needed and appreciated. She was admitted in the hospital and most likely will be discharged tomorrow. She had a concussion with minor bleeding in the brain. Lots of pain in the neck and back and strong headaches. She will be fine and will follow up with the neurologist next week.
Today, I am in Kyoto for some comfort and peace and it goes with the CP. Drinking tons of coffee to keep myself awake on a busy day at work.
Stay safe and healthy everyone!
Sorry your mother is in pain. But it is great news that she will be fine!
It is good news. Hoping for the best.
I hope she feels back to normal very soon! You smell lovely today.
Thank you. Kyoko is a favorite! I also hope she recovers soon, but at her age it might take time. At least she will eventually be fine.
Glad she will be fine! Kyoto is perfect for comfort and the CP!
Thank you!
I am wearing Hove Rue Royale and drinking a cup of Darjeeling tea.
Rue Royale is a street in New Orleans, so it is a place I can go 🙂 I know, it is kind of a stretch.
I meant this to be my SOTD post. Sorry.
Your poor mom. I am sorry I missed this post yesterday. I hope she continues to recover. Hugs.
Thank you. Hugs back!
Glad to know she will be okay. You must be exhausted. Stay safe and healthy, yourself!
Thank you Lillyjo! Trying my best!
So glad for this good news!
Thank you Apsara!
Oh, so sorry to hear about your mom. I’m glad things are looking up. Kyoto is an excellent choice!
Thank you! Kyoto is so beautiful. I regret swapping my full bottle a while ago thinking it was not for me. At least I have large decant now that I enjoy greatly.
So glad there no permanent issues!
Thank you Deva. I hope she can be back home without any complications.
Wishing your mom continued healing and I hope you can get some rest tonight. A day in the ER is very draining. Kyoto is good for calm!
After 12 hours it was really draining. Looking forward to the long holiday weekend and possible early dismissal on Friday.
Thanks for the update! Glad her prognosis seems very positive. Hope the pain lessens quickly.
Thank you LizzieB!
I’m glad to hear your mother will be OK. My elderly mother had a fall recently and hit her head, no damage, but we both got a nasty fright, so my sympathies to both of you.
Thank you Gaynor. Especially at their age we always get very scared and the recovery takes long. Hope your mother is doing fine now.
Glad your Mom is at least OK.
X
Thank Johanob!
Very relieved to hear that your mother is on the mend! Falls with an older person can be so damaging; that happened with one of my aunts many years ago.
I hope that the rest of your work week is uneventful, and that you have a great holiday weekend.
Thank you Jalapeno. Waiting for the weekend anxiously, even though I will be with my mother. But at least, it would be much easier.
Relieved to hear she will be ok! Sending you and your mother positive vibes!
Thanks Koyel!
Thanks for the update and the favorable prognosis!
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom’s injury. I hope her recovery is quick. You must have been exhausted today! Don’t forget to take care of yourself too!
Thanks Laura. Very exhausted, but I slept well last night and regain my energy. Take care of yourself.
I am wearing Seville a L’Aube today (thanks eschmeling!) which I loved on paper but am finding a little cloying on skin… still it’s very pretty; I feel like I am going to have a complicated relationship with this one.
Yeah, I’ve tried that one a couple of times and I get corn tortillas.
Hope it works out for you!
LOL. That’s what my sister says. Corn Tortillas. I don’t get that, but I do agree it can be cloying at first.
Just what we all need: more complicated relationships.
That’s what I was thinking!
As if we did not have already enough complicated perfume relationships… Good luck with Seville A L’Aube. I love it, but it is not an easy perfume.
*an easy perfume to wear*
I think you need to be in the mood for it – when I tried it the very first time, all I could think of was “orange cream soda” and “why do people love this?”. Then I wore it out for a night of beer and pizza with friends and my friend kept saying how I smelled so good…and I reevaluated and found she was right! It’s not for work, perhaps not even always for daytime, but past noon on a hot day or any evening, it’s really great, I think. So – don’t give up yet – and don’t spray too hard 🙂
Baiser de Russie
mariage freres tea
Trying not to be patient while my baby Buddha has just went into every puddle & is now wet up to his thighs..
I meant to be patient.. good grief
He he, I figured that’s what you meant.????
I am going to try to make it to TJ’s today and see about that matcha tea!
Oh yes! Th joe joes! The kiddos might even like them. My kids like regular joe joes better than Oreos. You’ll have to report back!
But it’s lots funnier the way you originally said it.
Hugs!!
Truth!
SIGH.
Yeah, if there was a puddle anywhere Taz always found it. (Come to think of it, he still finds them. He’s 17.)
HA!
I guess I should get use to it…
I’m in Carthusia Mediterraneo after someone mentioned it yesterday and I remembered that the Mediterranean can be considered a place. Love love love – and think I need to try the soap version again.
I wore this earlier this week–it’s great. I just have the EdT and it doesn’t last well, though.
Me too on the EDT – didn’t know there were other formulations available. Will have to investigate, because my little bottle of the EDT is draining quickly!
Great pick this morning Robin! I’ll have to dig out my sample of What We Do In Paris Is Secret.
I had a Dr apt this AM so my only scent at the moment is the No. 19 soap from my morning shower. SOTD will be Brookyn by Gallivant. I’ve had this sample for a while but it didn’t make much of an impression. First full wearing today so we’ll see how it goes.
You are smelling great with the No. 19 soap. Good luck today!
Fingers crossed that all went well at the doctor!
It was just routine stuff. Thanks for your concern. ????
Casmir! (thanks for the reminder lillyjo????)
Did anyone start watching PBS’ The Great American Read? I’ve been looking forward to see what made the list. So many good books! So many books I need to read!! One of my childhood favorites-Where the Red Fern Grows- made the cut. I still have a signed copy from when Wilson Rawls made a visit to my tiny little elementary school. One of my childhood treasures I can’t part with.
That photo makes me think of CM8.
I watched it last night. Well some of it. I was so tired that I fell asleep. What I saw was great though.
We watched the first part too. We have an appletv which basically lets us watch on demand. Apparently the full series will launch September 11…????I don’t think that gives me enough time to read and re-read all 100, unless I quit my job and give up the internet. Wouldn’t be a bad way to spend the summer though!
Oh wow, a signed copy. Wonderful!
I think I was a teenager when I got around to Red Fern, but I read it to my kids and we all cried together.
Yes, it is such a tear jerker!
I have a signed copy of Summer of the Monkeys too. He came to our school in December and of course I wanted both books. My parents said I could choose one. Well…my dad taught math and science at said school and secretly got Summer signed for me. When my birthday rolled around in January, you can guess what one of my gifts was.☺️
Awww… yay!????
I have not heard of this series…
Right now I am reading Aleppo the rise and fall of a great merchant city that was recommended on BdJ
I’ve read that one. The selected memoir excerpts were terrific for the minute descriptions of the city. Also so so sad when you think of what is left of Aleppo today. I’ve just started Scott Anderson’s Lawrence in Arabia, which came out a couple of years ago. So far it has been a super great read. Loving it!
Putting that on my list..
I am happy to connect w/ someone who has read the Aleppo book and glad that you liked it. Its a very bitter sweet read..
http://www.pbs.org/the-great-american-read/books/#/
People can vote and the winner will be announced this fall. PBS’ version of Survivor…for books? Lol.
So many books….so little time.
Exactly!!
I saw parts of it and will try to keep watching. Gosh, I loved that book, and it just made me weep and weep. Really brings back memories. (Where the Red Fern Grows)
TF Soleil Blanc body spray. Maybe not a great vacation spot, but the sun definitely counts as a place 🙂
Does the body spray last a decent amount of time?
The longevity is fine, but it definitely becomes a skin scent pretty quickly. Hours later, I can still smell it on my wrist, but the reviews seem to vary, so it might depend a lot on your skin
I’m trying Week-End for the first time. I got a sample from Luckyscent when I bought a bottle of L’Eau de Sport. I figure I should get partial points since it used to be called Week-End à Deauville. I will have to finish this sample, but I may see a full bottle on my horizon.
Oh I have that one, and it was not on my very short list of perfumes I own with place names. Mine is the formulation with Deauville in the name. Now if only the weather would cooperate and warm up. We’re having a drippy, cold day and I need something cozy to wear (Week-End is a great perfume, but not particularly cozy—does well in heat.)
Mine also has the Deauville in the name. I adore this perfume, especially in summertime. Thanks to Oakland Fresca I purchased a full bottle 2 years ago and it is almost finished. I will definitely get a back up bottle.
You both are lucky because the current Week-End isn’t the same formula as the original Deauville version. I much prefer the Deauville to what’s currently out. I’d recommend sampling the current version before you rebuy! It’s not bad, but it didn’t do much for me.
That is good to know. Thank you. The original Deauville version brings me very good memories of my childhood. If it changed, I guess it will not work for me anymore…
I got the current one in the swap meet and if it weren’t for the calones, I’d love it….perhaps the old version didn’t have those?
A day late but still replying. Yeah, no calones in the older version. It’s more grassy to me, in the same vein as AG Eau de Camille.
2 Instagram Photos today! It’s your lucky day, NST! HA HA HA
Robin is smelling soooo nice….Paris LA is a goody! I have a sample and will probably have to get a full bottle at some point, because I live in Coca-Cola central,. after all! Should be named Paris Atlanta? 🙂
I’m wearing Montale Intense Cafe and enjoying the fragrant hit of coffee this morning. Perfume Grinch is on a 3 week fishing trip in Montana, so I can wear what I like for a while! Notice that the Grinch is NOT grinchy in the slightest when he’s catching walleye for dinner! https://www.instagram.com/p/BjH3xG4HHrU/?taken-by=jadainga99
Still raining raining raining raining today in Atlanta…..steamy and humid, but my flower seedlings are thriving and sprouting up like crazy. It doesn’t seem to bother “my” geese babies either! Check out today’s baby picture below…Mama is very diligent about using the crosswalks! #SafetyFirst
https://www.instagram.com/p/BjHzH2JnJ03/?taken-by=jadainga99
Enjoy your day, fragrant friends!
I think it’s funny that the Grinch doesn’t like perfume, but is perfectly happy smelling dead fish!
Ain’t it the dadgum truth?????? HA HA HA Bless his heart! 🙂
Oh yes but Eau de Walleye is so wonderful, that is, to me– I adore walleye and don’t get to eat it often enough, living here in the south! It’s my favorite thing to eat when I go back up home to Michigan in the summertime.
Waving at you from Michigan! It’s 80 today!
wow! Great photos
Oh it is a hard sell for me to love those Canada geese. We have a beautiful lake in the middle of Oakland, Lake Merritt, that is the oldest bird sanctuary (well, an island in the middle of it) in the country—which is great when we get all sorts of exotics flying in for the bird holidays. But we also have too many Canada geese who defile the grass and gardens around the lake and periodically block the streets. Yesterday I was rushing home for a conference call and got stuck waiting for about 30 geese to decide which side of the street they wanted to head to.
Yeah, there are a nuisance here too. The little ones sure are cute though!
they
We have a ton in our neighborhood. Over the years, we’ve learned that slowly driving towards them while laying on the horn gets them moving. Kinda like herding cattle????
Love your photos!
These are fun photos today! The Grinch sent me the fish photo, so can’t claim ownership of that one!
Saw your photos on my Instagram feed this morning! That grinch is looking way happy! Maybe he should open a fishing business rather than work grinchily in a pharmacy? Just saying. And those geese are adorable! Love that they are getting so big and floofy! I’m pretty sure you smell fab in that
Montale!
Cute pics Jada. The ducklings are getting big.
Wearing Tibetan Mountain Temple. Such a great scent, and such a great price for it.
I’m wearing DSH Il Marinaio da Capri, which smells great, such a good summer scent.
Lets go to Capri..stat!
Ditto!
I’m wearing ELDO Noel au Balcon today. This was my Scentbird pick for this month. I had totally forgotten I put this in my queue. I thought there was a mistake and that I was supposed to get Eric Buterbaugh Apollo Hyacinth. Turns out that’s next month. Surprises aside, I like this one a lot. It’s a bit on the sweet side, but it’s got enough spice to it that it’s not *too* sweet.
I bought that recently and also really enjoy it, despite the sweetness. That spicy part is the key!
I used up a sample of this last winter and really liked it. It reminded me of Narcisco Rodriguez For Her edt, but with more spice.
I am wearing Mugler Cologne for the first time today. Surprisingly herbal, a bit balsamic with a hint of AMen sweetness. Interesting one.
My favorite cologne!
Playing along with the theme today in TDC Kashan Rose. I’m noticing pencil shavings today. Not a bad thing, though.
I like pencil shavings, too.
Several of my perfumes have that note. I like it too.
Happy Wednesday!
1) SOTD: in l’ombre dans l’eau over a lemongrass scented body oil (from Trader Joes!)
2) Fun for the day! Discussing core functions in a database migration, defining processes in the old database interface and then how to RECREATE those steps. I have a large coffee and a large plain yogurt to fuel me.
How’s the body oil?
The oil itself is VERY soothing: a blend of plant oils, with fractionated coconut oil, sweet almond oil jojoba oil, olive oil and lemongrass essence. You will smell slightly lemony+herb+nutty. It’s really nice to use after your morning shower and a little does go a long way. If you wear citrusy colognes and eau de parfums during the summer then I think this would be a great way to layer.
I’d be phoning in sick.
LOL
Can’t even do that in this position! I have a VPN at home so they would have me work from home anyways!
Database migration! Yes!
Wearing SL El Attarine, which is a school in Fez, Morocco apparently, and also a spice souk in the medina. Got a nice compliment from the DH this morning.
Hey, I’ve never heard of that one! Sounds great, I need to go do some research it sounds like.
Still in the game today with BoE! ✌????
Oh, BTW, I didn’t get any info on the new Tauer in my email, so wondering about the mini. I didjnt see it on his website, so how do you purchase it? If anyone knows, I’ll be eternally grateful because I think I need at least the mini in my life!
Are you looking for the 25 Annee mini? You can find that if you search “tauer mag” on the tauer site. It comes with the magazine for $25 .
In Knowing parfum. I tried to be clever and find a place called Knowing, but to no avail. But now I do think it makes a good title for a novel: A Place Called Knowing.
That is a great name for a novel.
Sounds good to me. I once had to visit a town called Wissen in Germany if that helps.
Ahah! If I had know about Wissen, I would have declared victory!
I am sadly not participating in the CP today. I was going to wear Santal de Mysore, which of course would have worked, but I was feeling too congested for anything as delicate as the dabbing of my pulse points with a gorgeous perfume bought as a souvenir (that’s right, Donatella!) in Paris. So instead I am wearing Maison Lancome Parfait de Roses from a decant generously provided to me by cazaubon, mostly because of a review March wrote of it in Perfume Posse. I don’t get the same experience from it that she does, but I still find it beautiful and well made, though very sweet.
Looking forward to the upcoming three-day weekend! The boyfriend and I are taking the trip we were supposed to take for our last anniversary–last June–and going upstate to a cottage from which we will eat all the oysters, sail, kayak, and hike. And eat oysters. I could do with a break.
Hope the congestion eases up. Enjoy your trip!
I hope you have a good weekend- and don’t forget to rest!
Your weekend plans sound great! I hope that you will add in a bit of doing nothing in between eating all those oysters.
I felt like wearing something Big today. Sotd is Mad Madame. Everytime I wear this, I just want to wear it more. I’m thinking about a bub. Although, honestly, I probably don’t need one.
I should resniff the sample I have of Mad Madame. I don’t remember it being a Big perfume. Could be skin chemistry at work again, though.
Well… i also spray heavily, and usually layer it with korres Jasmin body lotion. But it does project loud on me, and lasts till the next day.
I’m in OJ isfarkand for a cold rainy day in Jackson Hole, WY. Currently on a perfume spending hold but I’m lusting after a bottle of cedre sambac or Neela Vermeire trayee for the summer.
I am lemming Cèdre Sambac too.
I am wearing A Lab On Fire’s And The World Is Yours.
Wearing Fiori di Capri today and I smell _really_ good
You do smell good. One of my favorites.
You smell really good Robin. I have a love hate relationships with “What We Do in Paris is Secret” – on one had, I really like it. On the other hand, I am not sure I can commit to the FB. 🙁
SOTD – Portrait of a Lady. I have not worn it before, so I am quite impressed. Enabler pin goes to hajuusuri (again ;)) as she was the one who introduced me to this one
You smell great! PoaL is my all-time favorites.
My Holy Grail Rose-Patch.Desert Island stuff.
Woohoo! It’s a wonderfully potent perfume!
Azemour les Oranges for a nice, warm day. Thanks to whoever wore it yesterday for the idea!
Oh, scent twin–me too–it’s terrific!
Well you both smell awesome!Robin made me get a fb…????????♂️????????♂️????
In Scent Blossom by 88 Orange today. I got this a couple of years ago from one of the online retailers and it is light, but very nice and just right for the hot humid day we’re having here.
I’m in the spirit of the CP by wearing Azemour today. These days I’m all about citrus and oranges. Tell me more orange scents to try! I like the oranges for the juice not the blossom smell. Yesterday I tried Profumum Oranger ? and it was a yuck.
if you can find it L’Occitane Feuilles d’Oranger
I’m with you – oranges, not orange blossom!
My favorite is Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic (I don’t get any basil from it).
I’m wearing Atelier Clementine California right now, and it’s pretty nice as well. Atelier Orange Sanguine is good too.
From the cheap seats…weleda grenade. Bitter orange and quite sharp. I didn’t get any vanilla (listed in notes). It might be too abrasive though. On the other hand it might suit your warm climate.
I’m currently obsessed with Diptyque’s L’Eau de Tarocco, which is a blood orange scent. I also like Atelier’s Clementine California – Sephora sells 10ml sprays of the Ateliers for about $30, which makes them hard for me to resist.
Crabtree and Evelyn has a cheap and cheerful Tarocco Orange bodyspray.I love it in Spring.
I just sniffed that at a gift shop the other day while I was waiting for my car’s oil change. It’s really nice for the price. My favorite C&E is Iris which they disco’d. Boo!
Also Atelier’s Orange Sanguine is a nice one to try.
I am crushing hard on Guerlain Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat. It’s a wonderful citrus that leans to sweet orange, away from sour lemon. It’s all glorious top notes though, then gone in under an hour.
Thirding Orange Sanguine. If you are willing to try other citrus, and not just orange, check out AG Les Nuits d’Hadrien.
One of my summer favorites is Hermes d’Orange Vert Concentre.
Timbuktu, it doesn’t get more ecotic than this ????
Haha!U was windering if the typo was for EXotic or ERotic…Lols!
You smell devine!
*I was Wondering…tired fingers pffftttt….
Exotic, apologies
Bond No 9 Little Italy has a lot of orange (and not orange blossom) in it.
Robin, that scent sounds so delish! Off to order a sample now! I stopped in Sephora yesterday for the first time in ages and got a sample of Atelier Clementine California, as someone had mentioned it the other day. It’s been a while since I tried Orange Sanguine, but seems pretty similar. Also very close to AA Mandarine Basilic, which I have a bottle of so money saved!
Late reply, but it is a fun scent, and Mandarine Basilic is better than any of the ACs IMHO 🙂
Olympic Orchids California Chocolate . i don’t know anything about Californian chocolate …the edible kind.
Dandelion brand made in San Francisco is quite good.
Hey Everyone! Happy “Hump Day!” Wearing Chloe today. Feeling good because my Rocket’s won last nice. We’re hallway through the week and will have a 3-day weekend coming up because of Memorial Day! Life is good! Have a great day everyone!
Finished a sample of Le Jardin de Monsieur Li. Since it is a garden belonging to Mr. Li or specifically dedicated to him, I’m considering it a place. This seems to be discontinued. It’s not on the Hermès site.
I walked out this morning to collect the garbage/recycling bins and was struck by the soft air, sunshine and breeze. It may be cold and foggy over the hills, but in this part of the East Bat, it is perfect. Interestingly, it reminded me of the sound and feel of the air up in the Sierras where we had a cabin. Not scented the same, obviously. But that very soft caress and perfect temperature. Crisp yet warm. I had a memory moment.
Love your memory moment. How’s things going with your dad?
I just counted: I have 19 pennies in my wallet. I have no idea how it happened since I almost never pay cash. One of the pennies is actually my lucky penny, I keep it with me for the last probably 10 years. It was minted in 1942.
Wearing Terrasse à St-Germain by Jul et Mad. I put it on just to participate in the project because I couldn’t locate a bottle of another perfume that I planned to wear today and it was time to go. It is a very well made and balanced perfume but it definitely is not my favorite from the line.
I originally thought I didn’t have many with place names but I do. Of course my place names include addresses like 31RC and 28 La Pausa…
Wearing the first few spritzes of my new decant of Byredo’s Accord Oud. I bought this decant in order to ward off a fb purchase but now realize I should’ve just gone for it. My b-day’s not til fall, but I know what I want . . .
If your bday is in fall, your half birthday is now-ish. Just saying. Half birthdays are birthdays, too! ????
Very true. Was also thinking that I could wait for a really good GWP situation.
That is my favorite Oud like EVER!You smell lovely!
When I first encountered Accord Oud,I sprayed a sample card that I put in my diary. That was in 2011…It still smells lovely.Of course I got a fb too…lol.
Oud + fruit sounds terrible in theory, but it works so well! I especially love it (and all ouds, really) in hot weather.
Burberry Brit Sheer. I am moving away from SJP Lovely for my daily work wear, since the weather is warming up.
I have to fly under the radar at work, and this is laundry musk enough to pass as dryer sheet, but i also really like it, so it’s in the maybe pile.
Other contenders are Joie Folle de Joie and Chanel Chance Eau Tendre. Both if which i love.
Decisions, decisions.
I finished a bottle of Burberry Brit Sheer…just sayin’…
I’m in Jul et Mad Aqua Sextius today. The perfume was inspired by Aix en Provence, so I’m going to count that as a location for today 🙂
I’ve wanted to visit Aix en Provence for decades – that and New Zealand and Skye will be the first places on my list if I ever get off the North American continent.
House twins! 🙂
A bit of vintage Lancôme Sikkim today, which smells nothing like Sikkim actually did. And some Indochine, although it no longer exists on any maps.
I decided to glam it up today with
SOTD = 31 Rue Cambon
Gorgeous day for a stroll on the High Line. The last time I walked it, I went from south (Whitney Museum) to north (Hudson Yards).
We had lunch at Bubby’s, matzo ball soup, the most divine biscuits (I got a doggie bag), fried chicken and a banana pie. Yunmm.
At the Whitney right now, resting after a fabulous insider tour of the Conservation Lab.
I will now visit the Grant Wood exhibit before heading out to indulge in some sniffing!
Mmm, matzo ball soup and biscuits!
And I just polished off one more biscuit.
I’m not hungry, I’m not hungry… 🙂
Haha!
Visited the Grant Wood exhibit in March, and was surprised by how extensive/how prolific the artist was.
Dying to check out the High Line, but it was cold & miserable the day we were there.
I, too, was surprised. I liked his use of “Europy” to describe being influenced by European artists with whom he trained.
As to the High Line, it is absolutely worth it to go but only if the weather is decent!
SOTD was Lush Orange Blossom, still on a mission to FINISH.THE.BOTTLE already!Lol.Cheerful and sunny on a superbusy day at work(I scrubbed for 17 cases in theatre today!)
SOTE Cuba.Deliciously tobacco-y and vanilla.
Thank you to everyone who left a comment for me yesterday!Apologies for not answering individually!I’m glad I was missed a little at least.NST has always made me feel at home and very welcome, and I appreciate that a LOT,especially being in South Africa and most of you guys are in the US or Europe.
Hopefully during the last week of June I will make some HUUUUUUGE jumps in my plans for the Perfumed Apartment.I’ll keep you posted!
Humpday you say…lol.
X
I love that no matter where we are from, we all seem to have good hearts and great noses! ????
I’m always happy to see your posts. 🙂 Looking forward to hearing about the Perfumed Apartment.
I didn’t think I had many perfumes associated with places, then I looked at my list and realised I had several. So it will be Paestum Rose for me today.
I claim double points also – got up this morning early for a school event and put on Cap Neroli.
Post school event and post shower, I decided on Jardin sur le Nil. Had not worn it in a while, forgot how lovely it is!
Smelling great! I found le Nil off-putting the first time I tried it, then I wore it again on a warm day. It came alive for me.
Yay for double points!! I’ll wear Histoire d’Orangers tonight for some extra joy. 🙂
SotD = Bucoliques de Provence
An homage to the lavender and leather of Grasse, an oddly interesting iris. Can’t make up my mind if I like it, though I keep sniffing.
Just read that Histoires d’Orangers is inspired by the city of Taroudant in Morocco. That one I will wear again, and again, and again . . .
Oh nice one. I have a decant of that one. Another one I hadn’t thought of.
Sotd is Coty’s Vanilla Musk, bought yesterday to satisfy my sudden musk craving. It’s lovely, honestly. A perfect balance of vanilla and musk and it’s lasted through my whole workday. A drugstore gem.
Vanilla musk is really well done. I don’t see it around my area much though.
Robin, those macarons look wonderful! Yum!
I’m taking a page from Deva’s book of gratitude today. I’m happy that the sun is out today. ???? I’m enjoying watching the cats laze about in the bay window, soaking it all up.
SOTD = Un Jardin en Mediterranee, from the sample stash. Someone had worn it yesterday, and the weather is just about perfect for those kinds of scents right now.
It was a nice day for sure! You smell good!
Thanks! Tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous, too.
hajusuuri’s Day Off Part 2
I did a cursory visit of the Grant Wood exhibit at the Whitney and made sure I saw American Gothic (I always thought they were meant to be husband and wife but they were actually father and daughter).
Indeed I was spitting distance from the Kilian boutique and I stopped by. Since the last time I was there, the boutique now has most of the perfumes lined up on a bar with porcelain (or some other synthetic stone) sniffers. I left with a sample each of Love Don’t be Shy and Noir Aphrodisiac.
Then I went to Parfums de Marly and the boutique manager remembered my full name (ok, she was one letter off spelling-wise of my last name) and I was gobsmacked because the first and only time I was there was 18 months ago with Sniffapalooza! Anyway, I smelled Delina EDP and Delina Exclusif on paper. OMG, I may need a full bottle of the Exclusif although now that I have it on skin, it may be too sweet. I should have asked for the EDP to compare. I have a plan to acquire several samples of the EDP before I decide on which one to buy.
My watch died and I dropped it off to have the battery replaced. I found it odd that I was asked how much I paid for it and I said it was an anniversary gift. Or maybe it was for insurance purposes?
I think that jewelry repair shops do ask for the value of items for insurance purposes, even for something like a battery change on a wristwatch. I seem to recall my mom being asked the same thing when the strap on a watch she had broke.
I’m thinking that it was for insurance as well. Mine had to be sent out to have the battery replaced as there is some kind of vacuum seal to be done to keep it water resistant. I was amused at the number she wrote down.
You are just that memorable! 🙂 I’m extremely interested to hear your impressions of Delina.
I didn’t know about the father-daughter fact either, so I consider my today’s visit to NST as extremely useful.
Powdery FRUITY floral with a musky vanilla base…sounds generic but there’s something really appealing about it that has me repeatedly sniffing my forearm to justify spending $300+ for 75 mLs.
Oh, and I learn a lot from NST!
After spending the day clearing my yard of the mess left by the storm, I’m relaxing in a cloud of Box of Eels. I’ve earned it. Kind neighbors came over and helped. Really saved me! They will get brownies tomorrow.
Yay for both Box of Eels and kind neighbors! ????????
