Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop lifestyle brand has launched Edition 04 – Orchard, the final scent in the brand's four projected seasonal fragrances.
A perfume of sun-warmed apricot, fresh hay, and dry earth, this mystical perfume inhabits the quiet heat of summer afternoons. Sunbleached hay absolute meets ripest apricot—both accords are crafted of grasses, herbs and flowers—at the subtle center of the scent. Sandalwood and orris root deepen the fragrance and give it an addictive, sexy aspect. Grounded in earth and infused with the almost-pregnant atmosphere of impending harvest, Orchard possesses a pure, utterly original sensuality.
Goop Edition 04 – Orchard is $55 for 15 ml, or $165 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum. A matching candle is $72.

My eyes have practically rolled themselves around in my head at reading anything GOOP, and I doubt I’d ever even so much as order a sample. But dang me if the notes for this don’t sound like my personal catnip!
Oh my gosh, I feel the same way! Might have to blind buy the 15ml and then never tell anyone what I am wearing 😉
It’s an outrage. Scuse me while I decant into this unlabeled sprayer.
I bet you could steam off the label 🙂
Ditto here. But I can’t bring myself to give Goop any of my hard earned $$!!
I think, but can’t seem to figure out for 100% sure, that they’re all done by Douglas Little of Heretic? So it might matter more whether or not you like his work than whether or not you are a Goop fan.
Well, it’s more the principle of not further enriching people who annoy me and don’t need my cash anyway… but for that matter, I don’t think I’ve ever tried anything by this perfumer.
Yeah, gotcha.
My sentiments (scentiments?) ex. act. ly !!!!! (Having sat on a board of a national organization for kids with an untreatable neurological condition, I am PROFOUNDLY disturbed by profiteering on people’s vulnerability to unfounded (dangerous? expensive??) promises…)
When I read about a perfume based on apricot, I feel a little like the dogs in the movie BOLT whenever the see a squirrel…
Shhhh, but I think I might even be whimpering a little.
Does Paltrow profiteer on people’s vulnerabilities? I’ve missed this; what has she done?
I think Robin’s links below probably cover it.
I do also want to say that no doubt I purchase items from all sorts of companies with unsavory practices–I am not remotely pure myself!! I am just more aware of what GOOP et al are hawking. Interestingly enough, I once read an article, by Quartz I think, about goofy cures and treatments sold on GOOP that are repackaged with different names and sold on right wing conspiracy sites… gullibility is equal opportunity at least.
Found it!! https://qz.com/1010684/all-the-wellness-products-american-love-to-buy-are-sold-on-both-infowars-and-goop/
I saw her response after asking you the question 🙂
Great link, thank you!
Fresca, are you from the Bay Area? 🙂
I’m obviously way out of the loop, but why do we all hate Goop?
I think there is lots of eyerolling over Goop as a lifestyle brand from Gwyneth Paltrow. I will just say personally that I think she gives an awful lot of extremely dangerous health advice and leave it at that.
Here is a rather snide article that lays out the rest of it:
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/jun/14/gwyneth-glows-like-a-radioactive-swan-my-day-at-the-goop-festival
and

Very interesting. Thanks! I’ve never been a Hollywood follower, so I guess I don’t pay much attention.
Very dystopian fiction. Pass the leeches please.
+1 ????????
Excellent! LOL!
Oh there are a myriad of reasons. While there always have, and always will be, people and places to make bored rich women part with cash- the medical and diet foolishness as pointed out by Robin is the most important. Youngsters read that stuff and do damage to themselves.
“Almost-pregnant?”
My favorite kind!
hahaha
That jumped out at me, too.
Came for the dragging, was not disappointed.
Honestly tho, the notes remind me of Epidor (no, seriuosly) so I wonder if this stone fruit & hay accord is now a thing?
almost-pregnant atmosphere – NO. Either it is or it is NOT.
“you can’t be a little pregnant”
I always think of South Park: just a little bit of cancer…
Those notes sound good, if I ever bump into it I’ll give it a try, but I dont think I ever saw that brand here in a store in Europe (I hope we can keep it that way).
…and NO WAY I am going to spend money on this brand.
That’s like sponsoring stupidity, and I think there is already plenty of stupidity in this world right now, no need to encourage it ????
goop products are direct to consumer, and at some pop ups here in the States (Mostly New York and LA). They are limited edition, expensive and the customers LIKE it that way, so you will never bump into it. BUT. The notes seriously remind me of Epidor by Lubin, so give that a try instead. 🙂
I put Epidor on my to sample list, thank you!
The perfumer is Douglas Little whose own brand, Heretic Perfumes are available from Twisted Lily. If you are interested in finding out whether you like his style, they do sell samples.
Epidor was lovely, if very dense. I’d live to try it from an atomizer.
What kind of idiot would brand themselves by the name of “Goop”….That’s pretty much my first and last take of GP. I might be just a tad judgey but jeez, do people really believe this crap? Probably the same people who refuse to vaccinate their children despite scientific evidence…
Here’s my nickels worth on goop fragrance…maybe 2cents worth.
I travel a lot and also have too many big bottles that I hate to decant.
So, last winter I purchased a small bottle of goop #3.
It’s lovely.
It’s a sheer incense that can stand on it’s own or layer with something else if you want more oomph. I have used the entire spray bottle and was thinking about getting a new one plus this when I saw it the other night.
Yes, I live in LA. Yes I go to Soul Cycle and Equinox and worked at the studios for a long time and saw what famous folks looked like up close and scary.
Like a dear friend of mine told me a long time ago (he loved Flannel) take what you like and leave the rest.
We all have and enjoy and respect each others top 3 or 5 or desert island fragrances, even if we wouldn’t wear them, right?
Yep!!
And I like your friend’s edict to take what you like, and leave the rest.
Yep, the Goop label and products in general do not interest me, but the fragrances all sound lovely. They are, indeed, as mentioned above, designed by Douglas Little the perfumer behind Heretic Perfumes.
Yes, please.
