Almost-Friday, plus Licorice Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm still sick, although maybe a little better than yesterday, and still commando.
Reminder: 4/13 will be Monopoly Friday. You Inherit $100....wear the fragrance (presumably from a sample or decant, but it could be from a bottle if you're planning to replace or stockpile) that you'll buy with your windfall. It has to be something you can actually buy for $100 or less! (If you never played the board game Monopoly, this is based on one of the "Community Chest" cards.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m not doing a good job with this Friday’s theme, but in honor of Licorice Day, I will happily wear my Reglisse Noire. (I have lots so wouldn’t spend my Monopoly money there.). Looking forward to dinner with one of my first bosses, a super nice guy and his lovely wife.
Hope you continue to feel better fast, Robin!
Well, I’m not doing any sort of job at all on this week’s theme, and have not even thought of what I would theoretically wear tomorrow if I was feeling up to wearing anything.
Reglisse Noire sounds like a good idea — enjoy your dinner!
Sorry you are still not feeling well but it takes a while. I am finally (after three weeks) feeling better. Also, the only time I do not wear perfume is when don’t feel well.
Thanks Filomena! I will get there.
I just read that it’s also National Grilled Cheese Day. I can’t get behind that one scent-wise, but it sounds good for lunch!
Agreed – grilled cheese perfume does not sound delicious. I had gruyere bread made by a local bakery (like a big cinnamon roll, but rolled up with cheese) the other night with tomato soup for dinner, though. yummmm
I had dinner with my first boss and his lovely wife last week!
About too hop in the shower to scrub off Dior’s Grand Bal perfume. Yes, I think it sucks because it’s a badly done jasmine to my nose. After my shower, I think that I will probably end up wearing no 5 for some comfort afterwards.
oooh, sorry about the scrubber! No. 5 is a glorious antidote. This morning I’m enjoying the remnants of several generous spritzes applied last night.
IT wasn’t a scrubber for me, but I did find it very meh.
Monopoly (kind of) with a few spritzes from my small decant of De Profundis, one of my favorite springtime fragrances. Someday I will have more than a small decant, if I’m very very lucky, but that would take several Monopoly-sized inheritances.
Funny they’ve not raised the dollar amounts in Monopoly, isn’t it? (Or maybe they have and I just don’t know it)
It is kind of funny, charming actually. According to wikipedia, the denominations of bills that come with the board game have always been the same, but since 2008 the game sets provide more bills in some denominations. Of course, there are also online games, apps, etc., etc., and I don’t think I will research the money situation in those. 🙂
My son never liked regular monopoly so my only “recent-ish” experience is with the dinosaur version — and happily, I can’t even remember quite how that one worked and if there was any money involved. Ignorance is bliss 🙂
Diving back into this week’s theme, with Smell Bent.
Gimel a Break – 50 ml for $40.00, and a real treat.
Honey, Beeswax. musk, patch and animalic notes, yet it comes across as mysterious rather than filthy.
Cheap and really nice.
That sounds really good! My experience with Smell Bent is kind of iffy.
Winter Vixen, Florists Fridge and Gimel Break are all fantastic scents.
Which ones have been not really successful for you ?
Happy Happy Hippies was disappointing. And an incense one. I swapped for a bunch of travel sprays years ago and was sad that I didn’t care for them…..I like Prairie Nymph though.
I don’t like their packaging. Florist’s Fridge was the only one I really liked of the ones I got.
I haven’t been moved by many of theirs either but Gimel a Break is really good (and, sadly, limited edition)
Hello all!
Eau de Narcisse Bleu today, both mysterious and friendly, and perfect for summer.
I slept so very little last night that if I had a desk job I’d probably fall asleep at my desk. My partner had a sneezing fit at 3:30 and I just never got sleepy again. Pray for me!
You poor thing! Hope you will make it through the day.
I have a sneezing fit nearly every day and so do a few others in my family. Luckily, never strikes me in the middle of the night!
I have a sneezing fit once in awhile and never for any discernible reason. I wish I knew what triggered them. Do you have allergies? And I’m sorry you’ve had the flu; I am full of sympathy.
No allergies, and they do not seem to be triggered by anything in particular (I know some people have that triggered by sunlight, for instance, but not me). I will just sneeze 10 or 20 times in a row while my family rolls their eyes at me and I run through half a box of kleenex.
My husband does that too! I’ve never known the cause, and I try not to roll my eyes ????
I max out at 2 sneezes, but daylight is a surefire trigger.
Twins!
Yay! You smell fabulous!
Those uncontrollable sneezing fits are the worst. I hope you’re able to get some rest today.
Sadly my bedtime is the same today but I think I’ll be nodding off rather well. 🙂
Too pricey for the theme but since it’s Licorice Day it will have to be Kerosene Black Vines, which I love but wouldn’t especially want in a full bottle. My decant is plenty. Hope you continue to feel better, Robin.
The perfect choice! And I’m sure I will, thanks.
I’m wearing Vol de Nuit, one of my favorite Guerlains and definitely full bottle worthy. Also affordable with our $100 monopoly money inheritance.
You smell gorgeous.
I came so close to wearing that today. Maybe I will tomorrow. You smell wonderful.
Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune and a cup of peppermint tea 🙂
I am on my ginger tea right now, so I guess we are distant cousins maybe.
🙂
The sun is out and we are supposed to hit 60 today! And then….snow this weekend.????
I’m channeling spring in the pretty Wit. $100 in Monopoly money would not buy me a bottle, so technically I am cheating a little bit, but it would buy me a decant which is probably all I would need.
Very pretty!
I have finished a few samples of Wit and have one left. If there were a 15 ml or 30 ml size bottle I would have already bought one of Wit and another of Amoureuse. 😉
It really is so, so pretty, isn’t it!? (And historically I don’t even like florals!) It makes me want to try the whole line….and yes, wish they offered smaller bottles.
Enough already with the snow! You poor peeps 🙁
Omg, I know! At least we are not predicted to get the 16 inches that the northern part of the state is.????
16 inches of snow in April??? Yuck!
Same here! Except we are only at 50F.
Mother Nature can be so fickle this time of year.
On theme for today in Lush’s Smell of Weather Turning. I bought a 1oz bottle (perfection in size!) for enough under $100 that I could also buy one of their Polyamory bath melts and still have enough left over for a coffee (perfection in price!) This stuff lasts forever, and is great in spring, summer and fall. I’m feeling really good about this choice today!
I *love* that scent, on its own terms and for the memory/place connections it wraps me up in. It’s so strange, but also so very wearable.
I also really like that one. You smell fab!
I think I’ll spritz on some Comme Des Garçons black for licorice day! It’s still in the low 30’s and snowing here so it’s perfect!
Great choice! I love CdG Black.
You smell great! I have a decant of that one, somewhere.
SOTD is Cartier Baiser Vole extrait- gorgeous, suitable for the spring weather we’re finally having, and office-friendly. Can be found for less than $100 online so also fits our theme.
Twins!
SotM = Brin de Reglisse
Lavender + licorice, a great way to wake up the nose. It burns off in under an hour, so a decant of Shalimar EdC from a fragrant friend is on deck for later. Whoo-hoo!
Hope everyone has a Thursday to feel thankful for.
Yum. If I was feeling like perfume today, that would be my pick too.
Thanks, Robin! Hopefully your perfume mojo will return quickly. Take care.
Hi all,
My SOTD is Aromatics Elixir edt (in the clear glass bottle), it has less oak moss and more patchouli. I do love this scent, it reminds me of an art teacher I had back in school, I’m pretty sure she wore this as her personal scent. <3
ooooh, that’s a wonderful scent memory. Aromatics Elixir is beautiful.
I know a Kindergarten teacher who started wearing Wrappings a few months ago. Her sillage is subtle but present, I hope it makes a nice scent memory for her little students.
Wrappings is another perfume I adore, I always purchase a perfume/lotion set over the holidays when it’s available.
For years, I searched for a scent that matched my memories of her – the first time I spritzed AE, it was instant flash back to Elementary school days and the smell of paints, glue, clay and my art teacher’s perfume.
Wrappings is an underrated beauty!
Celebrating licorice day in Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin. I just love masculine gourmands.
And that is a particularly good one.
In Coquillete Cookiecrunch today.
I am quite dedicated to VQ ‘18. (Pats self on back) ????
You are dedicated! How many have you tried so far, and what are your favorites?
Over a dozen…maybe two? Maybe more. ????
Right now my favorites are Micallef Note Vanille and Xerjoff Lira but there are many other beautiful ones that I’ve enjoyed. It is kind of like picking one favorite ice cream or cookie flavor… can be tough to choose when you want all 31 perfumes err flavors. ????
Hey, what’s VQ ’18?
Vanilla Quest 2018.
Thanks! Too busy with needy co-workers today to answer earlier. 😉
SotD Eau de Narcisse Bleu.
Yesterday evening I tried Sweet Redemption (By Kilian).
It immediately took me back to my school days.
Remember those scented pens and markers? THAT smell….and then some.
A technicolor orange blossom with incense and vanilla.
Just wonderful!
I dont think I need a full bottle, but i am glad a lovely NSTer added a few ml to the swapmeet stash and I had chance to sniff this. ????
…if I had known it was Licorice Day i would have worn Liquorice Vetiver by Sven Pritzkoleit AND i would have been on theme (the 7,5 ml travel spray is very affordable…38 euros)!
Mmmm licorice, my favourite candy.
I love Sweet Redemption and just bought a refill bottle! Yum.
Good grief, what a week, y’all. Really needing a relaxing, chill weekend.
I’m participating in the project in Heure Exquise today. It’s one of my go-tos and pretty much perfect in IMO. I have a 10 ml decant but it’s definitely on the fb list and you can get it for under $100! 🙂
Oh, and Robin, I hate your sick! Just saw that when reading posts from yesterday. I hope you feel better really soon.
I will, thanks! And agree about the weekend — everything that could go wrong in 2018, so far, has indeed gone very wrong. Hope we can both get some major chill.
SOTD is Donna Karen Gold, one of the best, most gorgeous perfume bargains out there, I think my 50ml bottle was under 20 quid on eBay, so I’m on theme!
Yep!
I love everything about that one, the wonderful lily and the gorgeous bottle. One of my favorites and you’re right, an incredible bargain.
On point today with the community project in Queen. It got surprisingly chilly last night and a big blast of this warmed me right up this morning.
Looking forward to exploring my little dirt patch I talked about yesterday. Found while hiking that a spur of the trail leads off and down into a densely wooded ravine with a good sized stream running through it. Will save that for super hot days.
Robin, glad you’re feeling better today! Looks like the worst may be behind you. I’ve heard that ice cream speeds up the recovery process…????
You’re ‘little patch’ sounds glorious!
You smell wonderful and love the little patch of nature and coolness you have found.
Black cherry chocolate chip particularly efficacious ????
Deva, I enjoyed your post yesterday about “your little dirt patch”. It sounds awesome. ???? ???? ????
Woken up super-early by a migraine, which flattened me for the next 10 hours. Just feeling human again–aided by a lot of sleep, some hefty painkillers, and a pair of curled up cats–and I gave myself a wee spritz of HG’s Dilettante for a burst of orangey happiness. (And it would count for the challenge–though the travel sprays can’t be found in the UK, I was lucky enough to get this barely used bottle for £50 on ebay. Yes!)
Ugh, sounds miserable. Hope you’re back on track soon.
Thanks, kpaint. I’ve got a bit of that post-migraine hangover feeling, but I always bounce back. The sleep helps a lot.
I don’t get migraines, but i do get post-painkiller hangover, which can only be cured by sleep. 🙁
My sympathies – migraines are the worst! Dilettante is fantastic and would fit my definition of a perfect way to spend some found money. Definitely in the running for me tomorrow.
thanks, Luna. I was so lucky to find this bottle for this price.
10 hours, ouch! Glad you are feeling a little better.
Aye, it was a long drawn out one. But sleep fixes pretty much everything. Hope you are also doing better.
Aww poor you, migraines are awful. But you smell gorgeous, Dilettante is my favourite ???? orangey scent!
I hadn’t realised how much I liked orangey scents–till i noticed how many I had with an orange or orange peel note in them. This is def the cheeriest, though.
That sounds horrible. Are you affected by weather fronts and the like? I have heard that some people who get migraines have that as a trigger.
I don’t think so, Jalapeno. I’ve never worked out what my trigger is–maybe a combination of lack of sleep, hormones, and weather? Pretty much everyone in my family gets them 🙁
My sympathies to you! Hope you are recovering well.
thank you, cazaubon. I have bounced back!
Reading late but had to post: I was wearing Dilittante last week, which my person hates, and I gave the travel spray to a friend who said, “how can he hate this? It smells like happiness!” I agree. I am so sorry about the migraines. I used to get them badly and it is the worst.
Oh I am sorry your person hates it. It’s so awkward when something that brings the happy to one person makes the other miserable. I hope the recipient of the travel spray gets unadulterated joy from it!
(also, glad you are past the worst of the bad migraines… did you have a magic solution, or did they just back away some/all?)
I’m in Dame Narcissus soliflore, the edt version. Another realistic scent, projection and longevity better than I expected. It’s currently 62 degrees so I smell like spring. And it’s on theme as it is definitely affordable.
Glad you are feeling somewhat better, Robin!
I liked the narcissus, too. 62 degrees! Woot! Enjoy 🙂
Thank you, and a big old thank you to ☀️ as well.
I’ve suddenly found myself desperately in need of 3 Community Chest passes. I’ve had a decant of Guerlain French Kiss for about a year or so. It didn’t initially click (I thought the opening was fun but wasn’t crazy about the drydown.) Now I love love love it and cannot get enough. I drained my decant this morning ????????????
If anyone has a bit to swap or sell, let me know!
In other news, I’ve been testing out “mono” style bifocal contacts for over a week now. and have been feeling kind of noncommittal about it. I’m wearing the reading lens in my dominant eye, with my non-dominant eye for distance (I wear a toric lens in my dominant eye, so I didn’t want to rely on it for distance.)
It’s kind of annoying sometimes, but I generally don’t notice it and have only had to pull out my reading glasses a couple of times during the test run. The annoyance is actually similar to when I was wearing a toric lens that didn’t fit very well and was always twisting around.
That said, if I went back to my regular contacts, I’d presumably go back to being annoyed ALL the time by not being able to effing see 100% of the time without the light of 1,000 suns and reading glasses.
My insurance will cover a box of contacts so there’s no financial risk here, and I can always switch back. Anyway, I need to get on it soon… I’m 95% decided on going with the mono lens. Does anyone have any input on this? Yay nay?
I’m a big yay on the mono thing. Yes, I notice it sometimes and would prefer to have both distance and up close vision in BOTH eyes, of course. But the freedom from reading glasses has been wonderful! And overall, no problems with it. (I’ve been doing it for 3 years now.) I say go for it!
And adding that I was quite hesitant at first, but glad I gave it a try.
3 years is a good stretch! I’m not sure why I’m hesitant. I was able to read the tiny print on the back of 4 boxes of skincare products under normal lighting conditions the other day. If that doesn’t convince me, I don’t know what will ????
Exactly. It’s so easy now that I forget to appreciate it at times.
My husband uses them and is happy.
I’m in the minority, but I just couldn’t make mono lenses work, I need better visual acuity to drive. I went back to regular contacts and reading glasses, then actually found a pair of frames I like at Costco last year and got no line bifocals. I still wear my contacts sometimes – I’ve worn contacts for 47 years – but I like my glasses so much I’m wearing them most of the time.
Not a cheapy but definitely a beauty, wearing Une fleur de cassie, feeling like a million dollars.
aye, you smell *beautiful*
I’m an aldehydic lilac bomb this AM in vintage Le Dix. My son has been sneezing but I am staying mum. I have noticed that this scent makes people sneeze… 😉 Is my perfume the proximate cause for my son’s reflexive nose action? I claim no liability (but am going to bring him a box of tissues)!
LOL!!
Licorice Day? Okay I’ll wear some Regilisse Noire which also puts me on theme
Hi twin!
Good morning all! I also have been taken down by the flu. Feeling a bit better today – I slept pretty much the entire day yesterday so perhaps that helped. No scent today, but if I do manage to make it out of the house, I may spray on a bit of Demeter Gingerale. Ginger ale is good when you’re sick and extremely on theme – you could get 5 bottles of it for $100!
Hope both you and Robin feel better soon. Ginger Ale is fun!
So sorry odonata9! Glad you were able to get a day in bed, and Gingerale is a great idea.
Ugh! Feel better soon!
Hope you feel better soon!
Hello from Paris, dear friends! Our hotel is on Rue de Rivoli, across from the Jardin des Tuileries, so we have just the most perfect view ever. And excellent access to all the perfumeries. Today’s smellventures included buying up half of Fragonard’s stock of glycerin soaps and then sniffing my way through Jovoy. No Jovoy purchases just yet, but it’s literally around the corner from me, so I can go back. I’ve got samples of Niral (not amazing…?) and l’Attesa (delicious!), and my arms are covered in Notes de Yuzu (a dirty little winner!), Sel de Vetiver (surprisingly creamy and smooth and perfect), Rose de Siwa (GREAT opening, then meh), Cio Cio San (really nice), and the surprising standout: Santal-Basmati from Collection Notes de Fond. Kind of pricey at 335€ for 100 ml, but it’s really great. I can’t stop sniffing myself.
So we will see how I feel about Niral and l’Attesa, but I miiiight end up with a surprise bottle of Santal-Basmati!
Hope you’re all well 🙂 we have a nice dinner planned for the evening, and then will probably be in bed by 10, because jet lag.
Sounds like a fantastic vacation – I’ll be curious to read what other perfume places you’re going to explore.
Living vicariously! Sounds fabulous already! Funny, I think Rose de Siwa is so linear and smells the same to me all day. I kind of wish it would shift. Also like Cio Cio San. It’s an easy, breezy one (for loads of $$ ).
Enjoy it to the fullest!
Oh yay yay!!!! I hope you are having a wonderful time!!!
Oh yay yay!!!! I hope you are having a wonderful time!!!
Santal-Basmati sounds dreamy. Living vicariously!
Have fun! Never heard of the Santal Basmati but it sounds like a winner!
Have a great time! Really fun finding a surprise that you never heard of and that you would have a hard time finding anywhere else. If you get it, Santal-Basmati will be a great reminder of your trip. It sounds yummy.
Enjoy every minute! Can’t wait to hear your list of purchases!
Nice to hear that you made it to Paris and are having fun now! Enjoy!
So fun! When I first tried Niral, especially dabbed, I thought it wasn’t anything special compared to the other NVC. But sprayed I find it pretty glorious, if very perfumey. So maybe another bigger shot? Love L’Atessa and you have reminded me to pull out Note de Yuzu for when and if the spring arrives. I think it is wonderful! I hope you continue to have a fab time.
SOTD a smidge of Une Rose still from my manuf sample. I guess the travel spray would count for the CP, but I use just drops of thos potent stuff so will stretch out my sample first.
It is indeed potent!
That is a weird and dark rose to me, and I like it a lot!
I’m doing a comparison this morning – on my right, Baiser Vole Extrait from a generous decant from the swap meet. On my left, Ostara, a generous extra from the swap meet.
Both can be had for under $100 and for app. the same price (I think you get more Ostara per ml though).
So….10 minutes in, they smell more similar than different to me. Ostara is a tad juicier/greener, Baiser Vole Extrait a tad drier/warmer.
I like them both, but I wonder whether my combined little decants of those will be good enough for a while.
Still thinking whether I need to try out the Baiser Vole Edt – then I would have tried all versions.
Did not know they were that close, interesting!
They differ a little more in the dry down – but not enough for me where you’d need both (but enough where you might prefer one over the other). I just re-sprayed Ostara and now comparing it to BV essence rather than extrait – less similarity, and Ostara clearly wins the “battle of the lily/narcissus”.
I really like the Ostara bottle.
Celebrating this finally-springlike weather with Apres L’Ondee. Whee!!
Yay! You smell beautiful!
I’m wearing a couple of hefty spritzes of Anarchy, an Irma Shorell dupe of Black Cashmere that I discovered several years ago, and really love. Any of you ever encounter Irma Shorell perfumes? I’ve got a few of them stashed way back in the cabinet, but Anarchy is the only one I wear. I think the others are dupes of “way back in the day” perfumes (they had a collection called Long Lost Perfumes), which I should really offer up at the next freebie meet, for those of you who like vintage scents.
Interesting! I believe Jeffrey Dame was involved in Long Lost Perfumes? I wish I had tried some of those before LLP disappeared.
How sad that Long Lost Perfumes are now long lost perfumes 🙁
I do have a bottle of Anarchy, but I believe it is a dupe of DK’s Chaos. Too lazy at the moment to pull them both out to compare but will update when I get a second wind.
You are absolutely right, eldora – wasn’t thinking when I wrote Black Cashmere!
I’m wearing Mugler Oriental Express and getting ready to take a nap with the dogs. Husband woke me up making a racket in the kitchen at 4:45am.
Have a lovely nap if you didn’t already!
I did have a lovely nap!
Finally able to chime in! A lawnmower took out the entire network this morning….LOL! Gotta watch those big power boxes when you mow….
Wearing Commodity Platinum Bergamot, and thinking that whenever I finish up this Scentbird sample of it, it will definitely go on the FB wishlist! So clean, crisp, and fresh. Good stuff!
Imagine the damage a zombie lawnmower could do
Breaking away from the community project today to wear Satori. It’s so beautiful going on but fades quickly. I reapplied about an hour ago and can’t smell a thing. ????
you smell great! even if you can’t smell it:)
MH Fumee for me and going to walk the bluffs over the Pacific near me on a perfect chilly windy So Cal Day.
Your scent and your walk both sound lovely.
I love that photo. I can remember reading that bluebells are protected in Britain and you can’t pick them in the wild…but that memory might need fact checking.
I have one licorice scent Dead of Winter which I could wear as it is still chilly with a dusting of snow on the tops.
I have been thinking about perfumes that ‘cling on ‘ and stick around for more than a day or two after application. Coco lingers for a few days but has nice transistional phases, Gris Clair becomes smoother, less scratchy., Immortal Beloved is a sticker and boozy. And Bracken ( it arrived..NY, Cincinnati, Seoul, Hong Kong, Auckland followed by four days somewhere unspecified, before being left in a pool of water in my letterbox). The FB seems a little punchier than the sample and Because I had a few (too many ) sprays it came on quite strong and doesn’t alter much …can still smell it 18 hours later so it’s a cling on. I like it a lot but am tempted to layer it with a la nuit today following that Malle insight re. Jasmine ( the butter of the perfume world).
It’s illegal to pick California poppies growing wild as well in California.
I need to try A la Nuit with Bracken… offhand it sounds discordant, but you never know.
It’s like placing your head between cymbals
It’s kinda-sorta illegal: common wild bluebells are protected but it’s illegal to pick and sell them, or to remove any bulbs–even if you own the land they grow on. Just picking them, if they are on your land, is ok.
Morning, all. You know what? Someone has blundered somewhere, and made a big mistake with the time. It can’t possibly be nearly 6.30. a.m. When I find out who pepetrated this mad mistake, I shall…I shall…I don’t know what I ‘ll do to them. Smile weakly and ask if it’s OK for me to go back to sleep, I think.
I’m cheating with my Monopoly inheritance, because I ‘m going to spend it on as many boxes of scented soap as I can buy with $100. If I’m lucky, I think I’ll be able to buy 3 boxes of Roget & Gallet, so 2 of Carnation and 1 of the cologne-scent, please. If I have any change from that, I shall buy a bottle of 4711.
In the meantime, I’d better dash around madly: I haven’t showered or dressed yet, but I can tell you the perfume I will wear on this chilly morning: it’s the anti-soporific Cristalle, all hard angles and smooth, light-reflecting surfaces. I’m really late starting my day, unprepared for it and therefore slightly frazzled, and completely uninterested in what it holds, but at least my perfume will give the illusion that I’m functional and pulled together. Be well, all.
I have taken to getting up 20 minutes earlier on my days off to make sure that my older son is awake and getting ready for school. Kind of aggravating when I find he is already up and showering and I could have had 20 minutes’ more sleep!
Hope your day went well. R&G soaps are divine. I have one of the cologne scent marinating in my linen cupboard. It’s time to move it to the bath.
NSTers are smelling great today! And I’m sending virtual tea, chicken soup, tissues, and real sympathy to those who are battling the flu. Ugh.
I’m wearing the current version of J’ai Ose from a sample. I like it (don’t remember the Guy Laroche version of the 70s, so no heartbreak over reformulation) and multiple full bottles could be had on a Monopoly budget.
I’m wearing vagabond Prince Enchanted Forest. I don’t think I will spend my hundred on this, but if it landed in my lap I wouldn’t throw it back.
I should be wearing Lolita Lempicka for licorice day, but am borrowing some of my husband’s Guerlain l’Homme Ideal on one hand (he bought in when we were in Germany 2 years ago and has relegated it to the cabinet under the sink) and Bvlgari Black on the other hand. L’Homme Ideal is a bit like a toned-down version of Egoiste, which he has loved and worn for years, and which I love on him (and therefore it would be a big no-no for me to borrow). Don’t know if I like it enough to swipe it since there is just a hint of bug-spray that is a big turn-off.
Not feelin’ it. SOTE is Guerlain L’Instant.
I am so behind on NST! My elderly mother is visiting, and everything just takes a bit more time when you’re 87. I’m up and about at the usual weekday time this morning, as I have a job interview. I’m finding it a bit hard to get focused, as I’m otherwise still on holiday. I’m thinking a small spray of 31 RC will help me get in the right frame of mind.
Hope that your interview went well!
Best of luck for the job!
Good luck. I will cross my fingers and toes. I also hope the weather is better where you are than down here. Happy weekend.
Busy day at work but I am meeting the challenge and smelling great in Jicky EDT. I wanted something strong and fortifying this morning after having to leave a note for my upstairs neighbor about his sound system vibrating my apt. Tried to talk in person the other evening when it was happening, but no one answered when I knocked. Had to resort to leaving a note. Eek I hate this kind of stuff. Can’t everyone just be courteous and self aware so that it doesn’t come to this.
We were able to resolve a similar situation with an upstairs neighbor. And by resolve, I mean that I sent my husband up to speak with them multiple times ;/ (They were batsh*t, and I only met them once. They looked like the Ropers.)
I hope you can get things worked out. I also fail to understand why people who live mere feet away from other people operate like they are out in a forest where no one can hear you scream. We lived in our last apartment for almost 9 years and dealt with all manner of discourteousness. Fortunately the worst offenders rode out their 1-year leases then moved on. Except the guy who lived right next door. Dear god. Anyway, I could go on all day. (I’m also not at all above calling the police with noise complaints!)
Thanks for commiserating. I also can’t believe how some apartment dwellers behave.
I put a clause in our rental agreements about keeping noise levels down after 9 PM. We make sure that new folks understand that before they move in. The fact that we live next door probably helps too. We look out for our tenants and want them to be happy. Where the heck is your landlord?
Oh I will be in touch with our building manager if the noise doesn’t change. I know there is mention of noise in the lease, but of course I couldn’t find my copy of the lease the other night. Need to search for it again. I really hope the guy upstairs pays attention to the note. I wanted to start by addressing it with my neighbor before going right to the manager. I took a picture of the note so I can show it to the manager if needed.
There was a noise clause in our lease but it didn’t stop our neighbor from using power tools all day long. Just sayin’.
Hey everyone, I’m in a wierd combination of oud bouquet and noir de noir. Nothing called out to me today because I let a stupid person make me sad. So obviously i will be needing a new happy perfume to cheer me up. Right?
Wear something bright and smile. Sadness will not last for too long. Cheer up!
You, my friend, have totally cheered me up! I have missed you, and hope you are well.
I am ok. Very tough times. Hope to be back to regular posting when I can cheer up a little, but I keep reading NST. Missing you all. Be well my friend!
Happy to see you post today!
My dad used to tell me “Nil illegitimi Carborumdum!” It’s faux Latin, but it always made me feel a little better. I would also put what it’s supposed to mean in English, but I’m pretty sure that violates NST’s comment policy. ????
Just imagining what it means, made me laugh ????
Thanks for taking one for the team!
Oops, this was meant for Jalapeno below.
Thanks! Waving hello.
Wow! I think I might like today’s picture even better than yesterday’s. And yesterday’s pic of the day was rather pretty.
SOTD = Secret Wish by Anna Sui. Or, I should say it was my SOTD. This lasted maybe 2 hours on me and my scent glue skin. No real loss there, though. It did the shampoo fruity floral thing and then disappeared.
Wearing Galop today for the genuine resumption (I hope) of our usual autumn programming…
Wearing my beloved Dior Eau Noire to pay homage to Licorice Day. I’m going to be sad when I have to pack this one up for the summer 🙁
Ooh, I really like that one! It’s about the only lavender I can wear.
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Cedrat Enivrant
I gave myself a head start to summer with one of my favorite Atelier Cologne. I smell like a sweet citrusy mojito with a touch of vanilla (Tonka) in the drydown.
Robin, hope you are feeling much better!
I need to re-try my sample of this one.
