Diptyque Tempo & Fleur de Peau ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 1 February 2018 18 Comments

Diptyque will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their first personal fragrance, L'Eau, with the launch of Tempo and Fleur de Peau. Both fragrances were developed by perfumer Olivier Pescheux.

Tempo ~ taking patchouli as its theme, with three extractions from Givaudan's sustainable patchouli project in Indonesia. Additional notes include bergamot, violet leaf, clary sage, mate, and pink pepper.

Fleur de Peau ~ a musk-themed fragrance with rose, iris, pink pepper and ambergris.

Diptyque Tempo and Fleur de Peau will be available in 75 ml Eau de Parfum. Look for them in March.

Does that translate to “Skin Flower”? Ew.

It is also an expression, and has been used for perfumes before (more than one), as well as other products (and a movie, etc).

That’s why you’re the expert, Robin!

HA, I am not an expert on anything, much less French! I could not tell you even what the expression means :-)

We usually say “il/elle a les émotions à fleur de peau”, which means that one is emotional, would cry or get angry with a small inconvenience, opposition or emotionally charged event (doesn’t really have to be negative, though). It brings to mind a sensitivity.

            Thank you Vanie!

Yes, in Spanish too. “Tiene las emociones a flor de piel” means he/she gets emotional very easily.

So sounds like it’s very similar to what we say — “thin skinned”.

Ooo, these both sound lovely. I’m gravitating towards Tempo, but who knows?

I am not sure if I am gravitating towards either, but of course will try them! They are reminding me though that I do like L’Eau de L’Eau and have not worn that in ages.

I really like patchouli so I have to try Tempo. Looks really promising.

I’m looking forward to see the drawings up close :)
I have always liked the drawings on their bottles (and I am slowly getting use to the round bottles)

Fleur de Peaux sounds really good. I do not remember Dyptique ever doing an Iris note

Fleur de Peaux sounds like Maison Margiela Lazy Sunday Morning, but who knows if it’ll be better.
