It's another Monday, and it's National Cookie Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in 4160Tuesday Sunshine and Pancakes.
Reminder: 12/8 will be Patchouli Friday...what it says!
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Perles de Lalique on my left wrist, Tom Ford White Patchouli on my right wrist. Two floral patchouli scents. 🙂
You win, I lose!
SL Borneo 1834. So gorgeous, really wish I had a FB.
I really wish you had a full bottle too!
Thank you!
That is a beauty! I also wish I had a fb.
ditto!
House twins! ????
How does Borneo compare to Coromandel?! I wish I still had some of that left in my sample for this project! (and autumn/winter generally).
Borneo is rougher, richer, less polite, more interesting – I guess what you’d expect of SL as compared to Chanel.
Love Borneo. Hoarding my last bits of a decant. Friday maybe…
La Fille de Berlin…thank you Uncle Serge for the loveliness.
Cookie day! My sentimental favorite has to be snickerdoodles. I made many batches with my daughter when she was little, and she has since taken up the cookie torch and makes them for her granddad when she is in town.
Have a beautiful day, y’all!
I always made oatmeal chocolate chip with my son…he has NOT taken up the torch so I am jealous!
Tokyomilk Dark Crushed in the hopes of making my jeans smell like on purpose campfire + stuff instead of “right, this was supposed to go in the wash”…
This is probably my favorite comment of the day.
LOL!! Excellent.
LoL! And I just ordered SSS Fireside Intense so I can purposely smell like a campfire.
Been there! lol
I haven’t smelled Crushed in a long time, but if I remember correctly it was my favorite of the Tokyo Milk Dark line.
To me it comes across as a chilly herbal green scent with some jasmine, so…add campfire and get outdoors right? Maybe? Sort of….
I almost wore Jimmy Choo today, then I remembered this. I received Jimmy choose as a gift in 2012, I wore it all through 2013. That winter 13/14 was the worst winter here EVER. Naturally I made the connection☺. So, just to be safe, I’m wearing Midnight Poison, from the lovely warm climate living She-Ra. Yes, I am incredibly superstitious, and hate winter that much. Lol!
I have not worn Midnight Poison in ages. Time to unbury my bottle. That is really delicious!
It really is. This is my first proper wearing. Enjoying it very much.
oh no no no no no!!! Wear that Jimmy Choo!! I WANT SNOW.
😀
Ha! Never again!
In Coco Mademoiselle. I have never been a big fan of it. I have always preferred and loved Coco.
I just saw on YouTube, that they are going to make a intense Mademoiselle. Not sure if that’s true. Agree, Coco is the best!
I cannot imagine an intense Mademoiselle. It is deep and big enough already. I will stay with the original Coco.
Scary thought.
I’m wearing Beige. One of my desert island scents.
You smell fantastic!
I have never thought of a seated island scent, boy I think I would need 4 or 5
You smell glorious!
Triple strength coffee ☕☕☕
Extra long workout ????????????
I have 2 patchouli-centric scents for later in the week.
Today is the everything but the kitchen sink, and patchouli TOO ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????♨⛽????????????????????????????????????✈????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Tabu Dana
Right now it is spicy flowers with an animalic ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? musk!
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find the patchouli………
This post will self destruct…
Car…pe Diem….
Peace! ✌✌✌✌✌
????????????????????
I hesitated this morning between Tabu and Coco Mademoiselle. I guess tomorrow I will be the day! ????
I lucked into a vintage mini of Tabu at the thrift store recently – didn’t realize it included patchouli, but it will round out patchouli week nicely, as I only managed to locate four patch scents . . .
SOTD is 24, Faubourg, which got me wondering whether there was ever a flanker to it, and wondering how many “classic” scents never had flanker(s). Of course, then I started wondering what makes a scent a “classic”. This rabbit hole I’m in gets deep sometimes. 😉
Prompted by Kafkaesque’s recent posts on 24, Faubourg, I snapped up a slightly-used 1-oz vintage bottle of it. It’s gorgeous. Reminds me in spirit if not smell of my old favorite Lagerfeld Chloe (ruined for me by teenage drama).
It has that lovely (to me) Grand Parfum smell. I wore it yesterday and got lots of husband compliments.
Yes – very much Grand Parfum to me also. My bottle is more or less current formulation – have you compared current to your vintage bottle, and if so do you notice much difference between the two?
It has a few flankers, including 24 Faubourg Eau Delicate by JCE. I wore it a lot in my early 20s and still have about half the bottle left. It is nowhere as grand as the original, but it is lovely 🙂
Thank you! I think I had seen references to that, now that you mention it.
House twins with Robin today as I am in Eau My Soul from 4160 Tuesday, which has a bit of patch, but not really so one would notice.
Hey cousin! (or house twin, I don’t know the proper relationship)
Yves Rocher Secret d’Essences Accord Chic.
A strange one. A lot of reviews call it oriental and a spice bomb, but I get cold iris, incense and vague sweet flowers. It gains transparency with time.
All in all not bad and fun trying to figure out.
I have never seen Accord Chic as a spice bomb. As you say it is a flower-incense scent soft and pretty. Almost identical to YSL Nu. I really like it, but unfortunately it is very fleeting.
I’m trying DSH Habibi. Wow! It’s like a cross between a modern jasmine like Alien and a vintage white floral with an animalic leather accord.
Interesting.
Voleur de Roses, an old favourite for patchouli week. Have a good one fellow fumies!
I haven’t tried this one, but love the name 🙂
Forgot it was patchouli this week, thus am in OJ Ta’if just because. It’s so nice to me. Unfortunately I am sneezing my head off, so I hope I’m not coming down with something! Have a good week, friends!
Taif is at no. 2 or 3 on my FB wish list, it’s one of my top 5 roses. U smell heavenly!
Such a fantastic scent. Hope you have not contracted the plague
I hope you fight off whatever is making you sneeze. Feel better!
In TDC Pure eVe from a decant drawer grab. To me it’s mostly sweet almonds with some mimosa. Extremely lovely 🙂
I’m in Note Vanillee compliments of a generous NSTer who shared her decant.
It is a wonderful vanilla.
I got a travel spray of Guerlain’s SDV direct from Paris last week and man, compared to my little old decant, the opening is horrendous. It comes around after but the first notes are terrible. Ye cruel Reformulation Gods! 😉 also, happy Monday.
Oh no, that’s sad!
The me of, oh, eight or nine years ago would be AGHAST, UTTERLY AGHAST at the idea of patchouli week.
Now I know (a little) better. At least, I know my tastes a little better: I still hate classic dusty-oily-chocolatey patch, and the newish “heart” clean patchouli can get a bit screechy for me, but if it’s a) in the background and b) aged to olive-green mellowness, I can deal.
SO. I am lining up some fragrances that have noticeable (to me) patchouli but which I actually like for the challenge this week. I’ve come a long way, baby.
SOTD is Leonard de Leonard, nice vintagey — probably 1980s — floral chypre with plenty of aged-to-green patch. Yum.
That one sounds lovely.
I like the phrase ” olive-green mellowness”. Will be wearing ELO’s Big Belly at home on Friday – or maybe any old time I want, as the Perfume Office Grinch is on vacation for the next two weeks! May the spritzing commence..
In Prada Infusion de Rose from Hajjisuuri split (thank you very much!). It’s really pretty but not long lasting, so I am going to switch it up later
I also shared that split from the bountiful Hajjisuuri and have enjoyed that rose but wish it lived longer.
I’m a patch lover, but forgot about project, wearing Safari edp because it’s been cold and sunny today.
Patchouli week! I’m a fan; my husband is not, but I did manage to find almost a week’s worth of scents. Up today: Karma. I’m wearing the last of my sample and I wouldn’t mind a small bottle, but I dare not go near LUSH or I will certainly overspend . . .
I will miss baking this year! Those cookies are a reminder of all the dozens I used to bake and take to work or give to friends.
SOTD is Queen because I needed something big and busty. Plus, it has patchouli, so it’s the rare occasion where my perfume choice coincides with the Community Project ????
PSA: Twisted Lily still has 20% off until the 6th. Not affiliated and not enabling (ummm, yes I am!), but MAY be taking advantage of the discount myself. Possibly. Potentially. Not for certain. Yet. We’ll see…
… And Ummagumma has been in my shopping cart since this morning. Debating if I should click: “place order”….????
We are shopping cart twins????
????????Let’s see…..
I am waiting for my sample of this but I could go into a split blind 5-10 mLs since it is a 30mL bottle, I think.
I’m not sure if pl67 and Deva have their hearts set on specific quantities, but I’d be interested in 5 mls if a split materializes.
Good morning…it’s so hot here . I think Dunedin must attract winter-lovers as everyone is complaining and its only about 20 -25C . Fabulous setting moon these past two mornings. . So yesterday I tried Concrete and the Andy Warhol comme des garcons. I thought the Andy Warhol might has an interesting coke smell but it reminded me of the Chalayan Airborne ..a bitter lemon and then nothing much. But …once again… I didn’t get to spray the sample myself so it might just have needed more. I was also hoping that the pittosporum note would come through but it was just a green bitterness rather than the pitch from which the tree takes its name. Concrete was more interesting to me but it lacked a bit of muscle and richness…it felt like an Italian (cologne) remake of a Sandalwood. So it was really nice but not buttery like Santal Masjcule ( which I love) and it faded to a black pepper fug. But for an hour or so it was good. I think I needed more than one light spray. I noticed the lime trees are beginning to flower…so JM french lime blossom today .
Vanille Insensée for a dreary, back to work Monday. I’ll break out some patch later this week.
I must confess that almost every day is national cookie day for me. #sorrynotsorry
Every day is national chocolate bar day for me — but I admit I did break out some Tate’s cookies last night 🙂
we were house twins today. i like Vanille Insensée very much. you smell great.
this time of year I can’t resist a cookie every day. there are so many good ones to choose from.
I’m in patchouli heaven with Coromandel EDT, aged at least 7 years. I see after checking my records that I got in on a split of 50ml at Basenotes in 2010. Where does the time go?
I wasn’t sure I’d be able to wear this heavy hitter to work this week, but I found out early this morning that my coworker is staying home sick. So I felt free to scent up my office as I’m the only one in it for the day.
I’m sorry that your coworker is sick, but it must be great for you to be able to wear whatever you want!
Ha yes, I feel the same way. I feel bad for her but great for me and my perfumes.
SOTD is Bvlgari Pour Femme. I need an easy to wear violet/iris perfume, this will fit the bill.
I have an entire slew of Patchouli perfumes, perhaps I should make this Patchouli week? 😉
I love Pour Femme, a very underrated gem.
Morning, all. Yesterday the temperature climbed to 27, and to save time in preparation for another hot day today, it didn’t bother to drop far overnight, so, bad sleep and rotten dreams, the sort that press in, when I was asleep.
Bel Respiro bloomed so beautifully in yesterday’s heat that I’m wearing its dryer, leaner older sister today: La Pausa. I always see these two as siblings; Bel Respiro is the younger, pretty, a serious, chick on the whole, but given to random flights of fancy and fond of floaty, feminine clothes. La Pausa, by contrast, left home some time ago and has acquired some city polish, sharp tailoring and an air of spare, uncluttered sophistication that her little sister, for all her prettiness, doesn’t have and may never acquire. They have different personalities, then, but family shows up in the cast of their features and a certain classy, restrained demeanour. Neither of them entirely understands their cousin Misia, so dressed up in that slightly over-stated, “Look at me!” way of hers, but Misia is family too, and when all three get together, they form a head-turning trio.
I love ’em all, and count myself very fortunate that I don’t have to choose one above the other, but for today, it’s La Pausa keeping me company. I’m wafting glories of iris and vetiver into the warm air at the moment, and I smell fabulous! Be well, all.
Woo hop for La Pausa!
That should have been a woo hoO
Wearing a few beautiful spritzes of Ciel d’Opale today (enabler pin goes to Robin on this one), in celebration of having a great night’s sleep, along with a lucid flying dream!
Wasn’t me!
Am I confused? I thought you were the one who let me know it was on significant markdown at Indigo. In my book, even the tiniest of nudges qualifies one for an enabler pin. 🙂
Ah, then I qualify! It just wasn’t me that told you about the fragrance.
A lucid flying dream?? That sounds like a total blast.
It was, indeed! I manage to dream lucidly once every few months, and sometimes can control what happens (which was the case last night).
In Stash SJP today. Been wearing it quite a bit this fall. It’s got a hit of patch but it’s not overwhelming at all. No doubt it’s a patch that’s undergone surgery to prevent it from being too skanky but still…..
I wore that yesterday – I quite like it.
Wearing Coromandel today, my favorite patch ever. This is going to be great scented week for me, patch fiend that I am.
You smell great!
I’ll probably wear Coromandel later this week.
Yum!
A tiny dab of Que Sais-je? by Patou. I would love to start wearing my patchoulis but some bug is bothering me so I’m keeping it light on the perfume front.
Feel better!
Not really a patch girl, but my random selection for the day is Dame Earth Mother… the patch dominates on my skin. But it’s not too bad, it has grown on me. Which is good because it lasts forever!
Man, if I had actually bothered to check what the theme is for the week, I might have actually been able to do a whole week. Oh well, I can probably do the rest of the week.
Nonetheless, I’m pretty happy with my choice. My SOTD is Mahora.
I’m wearing Narciso edp for the second time. I like much better today. The patch is present but not overwhelming.
Working my way through my Zoologist samples:
Panda: My SOTM. This is not a winner for me. But weirdly, what I am smelling doesn’t really match the notes. I get a shampoo by the pool + gourmand vibe. Not sure why. I will test it again in a week or so to make sure my impression isn’t from some underlying perfume still on my skin or something else.
Macaque: Wore it over the weekend. Had moments when I found it interesting. I did not like the far far dry down–which lasted forever and was screechy to my nose.
Civet: Second sample order for me of this one. I really like it and found it cozy–but no patch. Looking forward to trying it again.
The others I am going to test are:
Nightingale–Lists patchouli in the base notes.
Dragonfly
Camel
I have only managed to try two out of my sample set:
Civet – love everything except something skanky funky in the far dry down (eh, I’m pretty sure it was not end of day Eau de hajusuuri)
Hummingbird – meh
Looking forward to trying the others!
I’m sure I’ve got lots of perfumes with a bit of patchouli, but I’ll need to do some thinking. Meanwhile the warm weather continues (I’m so excited to be able to say that!) and Chamade seems right.
I’m wearing Aedes de Venustas this morning. It’s hefty enough to stand up to cold temps and woolen clothing, whereas her note sister, Hermes Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate, sparkles more in warm weather. I am happy to own both.
As for my eyebrows from last Friday, send me an email at my username at a oh ell dotty com and I’ll tell you my experience. Today they look less like Groucho Marx’s. Thank goodness.
Forgot all about patchouli week/day–it was a big weekend, and spanned everything from a Christmas party to a memorial service. But today I’m in Vetyverio, and loving it.
Arghh monday…
SotD was Encre Noire.
No cookies here, my sugar fix today will be Häagen-Dazs Salted Caramel.
(yeah a miracle happened…somehow the two of us managed to eat only half of the 500 ml ice cream yesterday haha, so yay leftover for today 🙂
Since I am not a patchouli person “I solemnly swear that I am going to cheat” to re-phrase a famous Harry Potter quote.
Today was 1725 from Histoires de Parfums.
SotD = Atelier Cologne Mistral Patchouli
It is cool and breezy today so this scent fits nicely. I love the star anise and geranium notes.
Also wafting B&BW Afternoon Apple Picking hand soap. It has a pretty scent but is distracting. I poured 4/5ths of the liquid soap into an empty bottle then diluted the remainder with water. Still gets hand clean and smells nice, plus now there is plenty left for refills. A Monday win!
I’m so glad your fragrance juju is back! ????
Thanks! It feels good to be able to enjoy fragrance again.
Saw your comment about snickerdoodles, my favorite non-chocolate cookie, and I realize I have not made any in more than a year. Must correct that soon.
How is your arm?
It’s better, I’m out of the sling and had my first PT session today. The guy I’ll be working with is some kind of magician, because he coaxed way more range of motion out of my arm than I ever expected for the first visit. I’m hopeful I get everything back.
Thanks for asking! ????
I do the same with and kept my favorite figural soap pumps from B&BW – the penguin and the snowman.
I was curious and googled those — the penguin bottle is adorable.
Acqua di Parma Arancia di Capri, just a few sprays. I had to bring my Dad to doctor today, and I went very light with fragrance today.
I hope that your Dad is well.
Thank you Petunia. He is getting stronger each day. We just have to be vigilant about the sodium in his diet, and we can hopefully keep his heart healthy.
A few drops of No 5 body oil for a flight back home. Wish we had more time out west- long flights for a short trip are kind of a drag. And not a single duty-free shop in this terminal?! I’m dumbfounded.
Have a safe trip back home! It is frustrating that there is not a duty-free shop. At least to spray on something. Perhaps is “money saved” Elisa P…
You smell lovely today! Sorry that your trip went by so quickly. I tried Cuir Ottoman and think that I am smitten.
Cuir Ottoman is soooo good.
I’m wearing Wood Sage and Sea Salt, just because I needed something simple and easy for a rushed Monday morning. It’s mingling really nicely with the Bubblegum Chic remnants on my cardigan.
I thought Patch week would be challenging, until I actually looked into it and realized how many perfumes have it as a note, even a faint one. I’ll try to remember to play tomorrow.
I won’t even tell you how long I spent on Basenotes yesterday, scrolling through the 58xx fragrances that contain patchouli. It’s in *everything*.
Another manic Monday. Combating the craziness with Box of Eels. The cp will be a piece of cake.
Wearing Jasmine White Moss. I realized I don’t wearing it much ‘cos the bottle is so unwieldy. Same for Ferre, but I seem to have decanted it into a skinny bottle.
PSA for Philly-area NSTers: I was at the Cherry Hill Mall Lush store yesterday, and they had several of their “older” solid perfumes in stock. There were also a few of the graphic label spray EdPs there. I also got to sniff the Twilight and Rose Jam body sprays. I liked the Rose Jam one enough to put on the “Later” list, since the very helpful sales associate there told me that the body sprays are going to be a year-round thing, and not limited edition like the shower gels of the same names are.
SOTD = Angel EdP, because patchouli and gloomy grey Monday.
I smelled Angel on a lady in Starbucks the other day. She smelled marvelous.
I live in fear of Angel coating my tongue as I am about to sip coffee.
Once in a blue moon, I can get a sniff of someone wearing Angel. Usually, they are smelling really good!
Starting a week of patchouli with PdN “Patchouli Intense”.
Top: lavender, geranium and orange;
Mid: cinnamon, rose and patchouli;
Base: sandalwood, amber and vanilla.
No scent again today… Was called out a bit earlier this week for having something on each day this week, but went to Cocoa Beach yesterday. It’s such a magical place for rejuvinating the soul.
Prada infusion d’Iris and Fredric Malle hand creme combo used as body butter and fragrance garnered compliments from my favorite people 🙂 And the lovely Shalimar body creme was glorious for shopping with my niece. We plan on doing makeovers this week sometimel..so nice to have another girl here. Finally!
Have a lovely week!
If that’s Cocoa Beach, Fl, then get ready for a different kind of magic 8:00am Christmas Eve morning. The surfing Santa’s will be out in force!
That sounds awesome! Too bad we won’t be here to see that. Unfortunately by then I’ll be back home in the snow and cold weather.
SOTD = Guerlain Angelique Noire
I intended to do patchouli week and convinced myself that AN has at least some patch but nooooooo. Anyway, I smelled really nice. AN did a disappearing act after 6 hours of wear but it came back after 10 hours.
SOTD is Habit Rouge… Can anyone imagine it without its discreet touch of patchouli? Patch mostly smells like cold grave dirt on me, but here it is all part and parcel of the ‘sweet dust’ alchemy.
