Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop lifestyle brand has launched Edition 03 – Incense, the third of four projected seasonal fragrances.
A perfume of spirit-clearing smoke, mystical resins, forbidden spices, and holy woods, this fragrance is deceptively simple. Based on a small collection of gorgeous materials—a rare green frankincense from Oman is the glimmering, woody-airy star, prized for its deeply spiritual aspects and combination of depth and clarity—the magic of the perfume unfolds in the balance between the individual notes, from juniper and black pepper to cardamom and cedar. The push and pull of the elements amplify one another and smolder into a scent that’s ever-unfolding, twisting and turning like a trail of smoke from an ancient encampment along the Silk Road.
Additional notes include labdanum.
Goop Edition 03 – Incense is $55 for 15 ml, or $165 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum. A matching candle is $72.

The notes are right up my street, I didn’t know Goop was doing perfume but doubt I’ll come across it anywhere. Wonder what spices are forbidden *insert eyeroll here*
Cumin, naturally!
I lost interest at “Gwyneth Paltrow.” Oh well. Money saved.
🙂
Me too ????
I like that they are offering a 15ml as an option, as the notes sound quite pretty… but the idea of wearing anything Goop related makes me shudder!
Same here, but actually all of them have sounded good so far. Haven’t tried them, though.
I’m in the same boat. It’s funny, as I’m kind of their target audience (semi-hippie, I like beauty brands that use more naturals and fewer synthetics, I make my own laundry powder and cleaning spray, I practice yoga), but Goop just strikes me as overwrought and vapid and scaremongery. But the perfumes sound so good…that 15ml size makes my resolve to ignore them waiver a bit.
The name is just horrible, could not buy anything named Goop. But Urban Decay doesn’t put me off. Go figure. Maybe it’s the Gwyneth Paltrow association.
