Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Tsukiyo-en, Il Marinaio da Capri, Habibi & Tsukimi ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 10 November 2017 Leave a Comment

Indie perfume house Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has launched Tsukiyo-en, Il Marinaio da Capri, Habibi and Tsukimi.

Tsukiyo-en {Moonlight Garden} ~ "The second in our series, Tsukiyo-en (pronounced “Ski-o N”), is the scent of a walk through a Japanese garden illuminated by moonlight. As the humid summer gives rise to fragrant plants of every kind, the garden is filled with perfume. From the tender greenery of new bamboo, to refreshing herbs, and fruiting trees, by moonlight the scents diffuse and soften into the night air creating a waft of heavenly delight. The walk is refreshing as well as meditative; you go and return, renewed."

Il Marinaio da Capri (The Sailor from Capri) ~ "The first in our series: Flowers for Men. Il Marinaio da Capri is an interesting mash up of styles resulting in a crisp, green, honeysuckle chypre with subtle aquatic nuances (salty sea air without the calone / musk combo so often used for marine scents). It’s fresh and utterly wearable for both men and women. (It’s kind of addicting, too). While essentially a unisex / universal perfume, this design embraces ‘Caprifoglio’ (Honeysuckle) as the dominant heart note while using it in a fragrance structure that is commonly used for men’s fragrance designs: the classic eau de cologne, and the fresh aquatic."

Habibi ~ "There have been many requests over the years that I create an orange blossom / honey fragrance but I could never seem to settle on the concept. Until now. Introducing: Habibi (my beloved). Inspired by the Arabic term of endearment, I sought to bring aspects of Middle Eastern fragrance design into this Orange Blossom – Honey perfume by adding saffron, Arabian jasmine, and yes, oud. The oud and saffron together create a fascinating leather accord that keeps Habibi in a floriental category rather than a super sweet gourmand, as the honey might imply. The result is a fragrance that is sensuous and sexy, exotic and comfortingly familiar at the same time. It’s truly beautiful."

Tsukimi {Moon Gazing} ~ "Tsukimi, (pronounced “Ski-Me”), is the Japanese festival and tradition of Moon Gazing, which happens every Autumn. These festivals were created to celebrate the beauty of the moon and to offer harvest gratitude. Our contemplative fragrance is the perfect companion for moon gazing in the cool night air as this design warms from within. With Tsukimi DSH has created a new kind of comfort scent… something more subtle and meditative than mere hedonism or a child’s lust for the sweet. It’s a beauty that glows like moonlight and imparts a kind of psychological warmth."

Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Tsukiyo-en, Il Marinaio da Capri, Habibi and Tsukimi are available in a variety of sizes and formats, for more information see the website.
