French niche line Jovoy Paris has launched Rose Millésimée, a new floral fragrance advertised as "a different kind of rose".
The embodiment of the confidential nature of the Centifolia Rose (also known as the May or cabbage rose), ROSE MILLESIMÉE is an olfactory metaphor for a moment frozen in time, the reflection of a story, a region and a tradition of craftsmanship. In homage to the Centifolia Rose, this absolute hangs back yet asserts its exceptional character. In Vanina Muracciole’s interpretation of the Rose Centifolia, attention to detail meets a quest for the sublime.
“For years now, I’ve wanted to reproduce the Centifolia rose without artifice, without a dominant synthetic environment that would make the note consensual. It was about conserving the flower’s natural properties and suggesting comfort.”
To the Grasse region’s native blossom, Vanina Muracciole has added a dash of spices, candied apples, essence of Bulgarian rose and white musc to create a “powerful and carnal soliflore.” The fruit of nature’s whims and unrivaled, nuanced soil, it tinges each vintage with its signature and patina.
Jovoy Paris Rose Millésimée is €160 for 50 ml.

I am not at all familiar with this brand, though of course I know the name. They have opened a stand-alone shop in a smart part of London, so a visit is on my ‘to do’ list for my annual December visit.
Ah, do report back!
Of course I will! Checked their London website & they stock many other fragrances, not just their own – Eight & Bob being one of them, which my travelling companion is a fan of since I dragged her to Roullier White ( a tad off the beaten path!) a few years ago. Bless her, she has put up with my fragrance obsession for years during our travels, but in the last couple of years has, despite herself, become quite interested, due largely to lovely staff in Penhaligon’s & Shay & Blue a couple of trips ago.
Yes, they were a retailer before they started their own line I think. Have fun!
1. Mmmm … sounds potentially awesome. The musk concerns me. I’d rather have a short-lived perfume than drown in musk for 8 hours.
2. “The fruit of nature’s whims and unrivaled, nuanced soil, it tinges each vintage with its signature and patina.” My mind has just been blown. Hee, hee.
But pretty much all perfumes have musk, whether they list it or not.
