It's Monday (sorry) and it's Creamsicle Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Kerosene Unforsaken, included in my post 5 perfumes: consider the creamsicle.
Reminder: 8/18 will be Fugly Friday. That's the opposite of bottle porn Friday...wear a perfume you own (or just like) despite the ugly bottle. Suggested by Nebbe.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image via Popsicle at Facebook.
Considered the original KL because I hate the fan bottle, but decided to save it for Friday. Since I got a cold, I’m wearing just a little Lush Kharma.
Take care of yourself, and I’m sure you smell good!
Thank you, Austenfan!
Hi Solance! My NST time has been irregular lately and I haven’t seen your posts for a while.
Waving!

Hi, Oakland! This is so sweet from you. I’ve been a little crazy with the activism, for obvious reasons. But I’ll try not to forget the perfume world in the middle of all this cr@% we are going though. xoxo
Yes, I’m with you. That grey plastic fan top on the KL bottle is so ugly. Hate it. But I adore the perfume.
Me too, great juice.
I was given a partial bottle of KL, with just a little perfume in the bottom, about 25 years ago, long before I fell down the rabbit hole. I loved it, and I’d just about forgotten about it. I seem to recall I quite liked the bottle.
Such a nice & dry cinnamon.
ah yes, the crappy plastic fan…. but the juice was delish as I recall.
Wonderful. As good as the bottle is ugly.
Anne Pliska is definitely a creamsicle scent for me but I also think of it as a fall or winter scent so today I’m going with Orange Sanguine. I hadn’t thought of layering it with Vanille Insensee, but maybe I’ll try that later…
Too warm here for AP too.
Feels like blue monday.
Wearing a blue blazer and Eau de Narcisse Bleu.
I dont think I have bottles in my collection that I consider really ugly. Most of them are meh. Some of them are nice.
But maybe my sample stash has a few scents being sold in ugly bottles….
I eyed my MPG Eau Pour Le Jeune Homme this morning, but it’s just silly ugly.
Nope those are not really ugly.
When i think ugly, I think of most Azzaro’s, Mugler’s Alien, Montale, Lady Million, any Bond…a lot of celeb scents (nicki minaj, justin bieber)…oh and… the Ormonde Jaynes are not pretty either (I love OJ Woman though…so I think I found my friday scent 😉
And I really dont get the appeal of most Amouage bottles. But I am still not sure if they are really ugly or just not what i expected for such an expensive brand 😉 haha
I wasn’t able to comment over the weekend but really enjoyed reading everyone’s posts. I see a trip to Cost Plus for rose lemonade in my future. 🙂 I drained my sample of Fils de Dieu over the weekend, huffed my arm all weekend and had a couple of compliments. I had to buy the little 1oz bottle from Sephora. Donatella forgives!
Commando for now but planning on Galop. My 8ml decant bottle is about as ugly as it gets, especially compared to the beautiful bottle Galop actually comes in. Maybe someday!
I love Fils de Dieu though I avoid wearing it since I gave my mother a bottle.
Your mother must smell fab!!
Good luck on getting out of Cost Plus with just rose lemonade. I would end up with rose lemonade, chocolate, soap, a cute mug, etc. 🙂
Ha! So true. And a scarf, and maybe some boho earrings, and a bottle of wine…. 🙂
I actually adore the bottle, but I’m wearing Ciel d’Opale, my favourite Ann Gerard, so I’m not really following this week’s theme.
That’s my favorite Ann Gerard, too – so pretty!
Bought myself an Atelier Cologne sample set at Sephora on the weekend for my birthday* and tried Orange Sanguine early this morning (not because it was Creamsicle Day but because it was the first one in the box): I loved the very top but underneath that is a chemical, soapy bathroom-cleanser quality that I find very off-putting. A half hour ago I put on Clementine California and that’s much more to my taste (so far).
* I also bought a Commodity sample set: the cashier asked if they were for me or they were a present, I said they were both and told her why, to which she replied, “Well, I have a birthday present for you!” and so I got a little box of Caudalie moisturizer and serum, which was a nice surprise.
I love all the sample sets available at Sephora.
Happy Birthday!????
I’ve been curious about Commodity, which is heavily featured on Scentbird. Do you have comments to share?
I’ve tried two of them so far. Moss does NOT smell like oakmoss, and in fact I couldn’t detect any at all, though the booklet in the box lists that as an ingredient: it’s pretty synthetic, from the bright clean opening to the drydown, which is largely cedar, fake sandalwood, and white musk. Tea fares better, although there’s no tea in it, which really has me wondering about the names of the rest of the line: it’s a pleasant but unmemorable white floral, soft and airy, with a base that once again is (synthetic) sandalwood and white musk, and it’s not just me saying that, it’s Fragrantica, so I am going to assume that they’re all constructed on the same base that everyone else in the universe is currently using.
The booklet says that all the scents are unisex, which I like, but Moss registers as a standard-issue men’s scent and Tea likewise as a women’s. Read into that what you will.
That’s implies a lot, pyramus, and is very helpful. Thanks!
Happy Birthday! Try the Mimosa from the Commodity set, it has a similarity to Orange Sanguine, but without the chemical smell.
Will do!
Thanks for the tip!
Happy Birthday and great Gift To Self purchases????
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Pyramus!
Happy birthday. Great gift to yourself.
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your gifts ????
Happy birthday, and so glad you got the cashier you deserved!
HBD and enjoy your gifts!
Happy Birthday! I want to love Orange Sanguine, but the woods in the base smell very artificial to me.
Happy Birthday!
Happy scented Birthday!
I’m wearing new to me or neglected fragrances this week. I do have a fugly bottle, but I will save it for Friday. Today I am wearing Eau de Gaga for the first time.
Oh, what do you think? It is a tea fragrance right? how do you think it compares to other tea fragrances?
I have a hard time detecting tea notes. To me this smells like a nice, but rather generic aromatic eau de cologne.
It smells like tea to me, but more like a bath product than a fine fragrance. Still for $10 at TJMaxx it is a steal!
SOTD Chanel Cristalle EDP vs EDT
Hmm my (ebay-purchased, haf full) EDT bottle might have gone off. There are a few crip bubbly notes in the opening, then it turns tobacco-y and stays that way for a while. About an hour later I get whiffs of hyacinth with a warm woodsy base, but I don’t get any of the promised citrus or bitter green. Bummer.
The EDP is smooth, with a not-too-crisp opening that settles into something slightly sweet, citrusy and floral. It is very pleasant and I can see this working well in slightly cooler weather.
Every time I find a vintage Cristalle mini, it invariably smells like banana pepper pickles for 10 minutes, then softens out. Though mabye you aren’t talking about vintage and I’m just babbling. 🙂
They are vintage, though I am not sure what banana pepper pickles are supposed to smell like 🙂
Banana peppers are very thin pickled peppers, almost like pepperoncini. Very mild and very tart.
edt scent twins!
Woohoo! I bet yours smells better 😛
Hmm, the edt sounds lovely and not like my recollections of it. Clearly I need to try it again. Sounds like it would make a great masculine, and one my H would enjoy.
It doesn’t match anything I have read about it so I am not surprised you remember it differently. I guess I will retry in a few days, and maybe attempt to get a different EDT on ebay..
If it’s Creamsicle Day, then I have to go with Theorema!
*leans in* Oh, my, yes! Excellent!
You win!
Inadvertently playing along with Creamsicle Day in Lubin’s Kismet.
Citrus and vanilla with patch and labdanum.
Ack, I think I have still not tried that one! So behind, which has become my mantra.
Never smelled this but it sounds yummy.
Hi all! Still weekend for me & the weather is nice so I thought I could wear California Reverie from Van Cleef & Arpels.
After dinner I’ll be off to the post office to pick up a perfume package. I wonder what’s hiding inside this time.
California Reverie is so nice! Unfortunately it lasts about 20 minutes on me, so I can’t see myself shelling out for it. Sigh.
Aw, such a shame but my thinking would be the same. I wouldn’t feel like paying for something that doesn’t last on me.
Santa Maria Novella Melograno
Lovely!
Love me a cold creamsicle on a hot day! Haven’t had one in years but today may be the day.
SOTD is Corsica Furiosa. Horribly busy work these past three days, so T-Rex and I off to get lost in the woods for 4 days. We will be camping lakefront so keeping cool will be a dream. I’m off to the grocery store to pick up some chow and I’m really hankering for some campfire cooked salmon. ..
Have a great week NSTers✌????
You smell great, and how lovely! Have a great trip.
Mmmmmm…..Creamsicles! 🙂 One of my memories visiting my grandparents…Ma always bought a box of the Creamsicles Push Pops! She also kept cans of Hershey syrup for ice cream. The CANNED Hershey syrup is quite different from the plastic bottled syrup. Try it and see!
Wearing CK One Summer 2016 today, and enjoying it, although it’s fading fast!
Have a great week y’all!
Are they still very different? Have not tried a can in years. The plastic bottled syrup is nearly tasteless, I don’t understand it.
And adding — we tried some fancier organic syrups and they were tasteless too. Somebody must still make a delicious but easy to pour syrup!
The canned goodness tastes darker and more semi-sweet/bitter to my tastebuds….
I can also usually tell a difference between a canned Coke, and a plastic bottled one! 🙂
Creamsicles, yummy.
In contrast, it seems I’m not much of a fan of smelling like one — though I do love Sweet Redemption’s flowers-and-candy vibe. I should pull my decant out and use it before it evaporates; this is only possible today because we have cool, cloudy weather. Generally, SR would be waaay too heavy for August wear.
In other news, Taz started his junior year of HS on Friday and Gaze heads off to Va Tech this coming Saturday. Yikes. I am way more stressed about sending him off than I was about Bookworm, even if he’s merely 17 miles away instead of 600. I’m not sure why.
Hang in there, mama….my “baby” boy got his senior pictures made Saturday and I was a hot mess….
Are girls more self sufficient at this age than boys? (Serious question. I was way more self sufficient when I started college than my 18 year old boy is, but there are of course all sorts of extenuating circumstances so I don’t know if it’s a general thing or just us. And I send him off on Tuesday, and I am STRESSED.)
Good luck and lots of deep breathes 🙂
I am sure he will be fine!
I might breathe again on Thursday, hard to say 😉
Best of luck to Gaze!!! That is exciting news 🙂
Wearing Shalimar PdT.
Birthday, no congrats necessary.
Re, TOMK – great. Keep up the walking.
None necessary strictly speaking, but birthdays come but once a year and we might as well say: Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Bear!
I just watched Happy Birthday by Altered Images in your honor:) have a great day!
Have a wonderful day!
No congrats, just happy wishes to you!
Bear..I hope you are drinking TSC (triple strength coffee)
Happy Happy Day to you
Well, happy birthday anyway! 😀 I know you smell divine in that Shalimar *nuzzles*
Have a wonderful birthday!
Oh, very happy birthday! I will have to drink a coffee in your honor today.
Happy Birthday!
OOOO! Happy Birthday Bear!!! Hope you get a huge cake and lots of fragrance 🙂
Hello, Bear! Of course I am going to wish you a Happy Birthday! I hope you have all sorts of nice things coming your way today.
A very happy bear hug to Birthday Bear Bear.
Sampling Zagorsk today. Unfortunately its not for me. I love pine notes but this one is veering to strongly into aftershave territory for me, but we’ll see how it progresses.
L’Ambre des Merveilles for me today. That’s the closest thing in my purse to a creamsicle
You smell wonderful!
yum!
I really don’t enjoy orange as a flavor (or even a scent usually) so I won’t be joining in the celebration. I’m in Bandit today and it reslly is stopping the heat.
Some homemade body oil and Tauer’s Orange Star, to get into the spirit of things…
You smell great!
Today’s SOTD is Wrappings by Clinique – had to spritz it after the hubby left for work as he intensely dislikes lavender.
It’s one of my favorites from the 90’s – I love the spicy greens, leather, patchouli and oceanic dry down.
I love Wrappings – I’m going to snag a bottle when it returns this fall.
Nicolasix – I make sure to get a new one with each holiday, I love the lotion too, wish it would be released for year around.
Isn’t it an awesome scent? It’s one I associate most with late fall/winter. It’s a great ‘sweater scent’.
It is a wonderful late Fall scent, fortunately, we’re in the SF/Bay area so I get to wear it pretty much year around without blowing out people’s nasal passages!
Love Wrappings…hadn’t smelled it in years until recently..you smell great!
Thanks for all the positive thoughts re: the storm damage to my house last week. Things are proceeding (albeit slowly) with insurance, and about 90% of the repair work will be exterior stuff, which makes life easier.
Wearing Oscar de la Renta Sargasso today – this was my go-to last summer but I’ve only worn it twice this year. I also figured I deserved a little treat and bought myself that Berdoues sampler from Sephora over the weekend – looking forward to its arrival.
Sounds like a perfect way to treat yourself. Enjoy!
Looking forward to hearing your impressions about the Berdoues
Testing Edward Bess “In A Scent” (his Colette exclusive) today. “Saffron, smoke, and blue plum” is all they have to say for the notes.
Good thing it’s a cool foggy day today, this is definitely not a summer scent.
Deciding between L’Artisan Mandarine and Diptyque L’Eau de Tarocco. I smell orange and match Robin’s illustration. Now I only need to make my mood align with all that cheerfulness.
My mood is not quite there yet either!
Sorry to hear that, Robin! Maybe if these perfumes do not help, yoga could?
I’m in Bruno Fazzolari’s Jimmy this AM. I liked it more the last time I road tested it. Today the ozone/calone vibe is not working for me (but it is usually fine in Weekend (winking at Jiji!)) It is supposed to be about violets, and as the ocean breeze bit fades, the violets do get more air time.
what a great name “Bruno Fazzolari”…rolls off the tongue.
Haha 🙂
And I expected the breezy/calone aspect of WeekEnd to be more of a problem. But no, the sea breeze note was actually fine! 🙂
I think I am going to give my sample to a friend. To be clear, I dont hate it and I would not mind smelling it on other people….and I suspect it will work better on everything/everyone, but my own skin. 🙂
Happy Monday!
1) Cool morning and moderate temps after a light rain on Sunday. Huzzah! The air smells so much cleaner and better now.
2) Am in Bois des Illes from a decant- the very last awesome drops of it.
3) This is a crazy rental market. So my housemate let me know she is entertaining an offer of FREE housing from a work mate (in exchange for nanny work) and so may move out. I said If it is free I will personally kick her out so she can save money (she is a college student and nurse aide.)
So I made an ad floating the possible availability last night- and already have 10 responses! Yikes!
Good luck finding a great new housemate! Sounds like you will have plenty of choice.
I think Häagen-Dazs used to make a combination of vanilla with orange sorbet that was the greatest thing next to a creamsicle ever! But I’m not sure they still do that.
Today I’m continuing my exploration of the Le Labo cities sample box I bought last week. I’m wearing Gaiac 10 (Tokyo). This is the scent that vanishes–rather nice when applied, but not there after only an hour!
I think there’s something in this one I’m anosmic to, as when I wore my sample & thought it had disappeared, my pal said found me in a crowded room from my scent????
Ohhh… I think I remember that ice cream.
I didn’t try it on skin, but I couldn’t smell anything at all on paper.
Why is it that when I have to work at night I never get anything done at home in the day? Wearing Cristalle edp. I’ve been wearing this a lot lately, I might have to get a bottle. Is there a reason it doesn’t come in the Classic bottle style? Not that I mind, was just wondering.
I worked nights for many years and slept almost all day. It kind of wrecked me. You DO need to sleep, though.
I am in Vol de Nuit today just because. I think after Shalimar, this is my favorite Guerlain. I can’t stop smelling myself. I only currently have 4 full bottles, none of which I consider ugly, so I’ll have to use samples and decants this week whose bottles I consider ugly lol.
My son got his senior pictures made Saturday and he was just soooo handsome. I cried half the afternoon because I love him so much and am so proud of him!
“Just because” can be the best reason. VdN is a marvelous perfume.
Happy tears are precious. 🙂
Armani prive New York
Meh
Good to know.
Have you smelled Sylvaine Delacourte? It reminded me of something in the lines of her perfumes
I do have the sample pack of the SDs and didn’t really like any of them so I guess I’m not rushing out to sniff the Armani. I think we NYers deserve better ????
Wearing Cristalle edt, from a generous Nordstrom sample. I did not like it when I first got it, it smelled like rotten fruit somehow. But now I am digging it.
I don’t know if it smells like creamsicle, maybe a creamsicle that was dropped in the dirt.
A creamsicle dropped in the dirt sounds like a good scent to me.
: )
No creamsicle for me today, I’m wearing Carnal Flower.
Oops, I missed that it was creamsicle day! Darn. I’m in Diptyque Volutes, which I love (and to me has a vanilla-like phase in the heart, but that’s probably the mix of the resins and the tobacco fooling my nose). Anyway. If I had remembered creamsicle day, I would have layered Orange Sanguine and Vanille Insensee for the equivalent effect.
Yummy, OS + VI is a delicious layering combo. I will do that later today. 🙂
I hope it’s delicious and makes you happy!
It was delicious, definitely will wear them together again. 🙂
Creamsicles! Yum. If I were home I could light my creamsicle lotion candle.
Speaking of ice cream, my sister and I stopped at my hometown ice cream parlor. Still has the deep pink banquettes and chairs and black and white flooring. Chocolate showers ice cream (their version of chocolate chip…not chips…shavings.)
Today will be OJ Frangipani as I lounge on my sister’s huge porch….
Sounds dreamy!
SotD = Masque Milano L’Attesa from a spray sample
L’Attesa is very pretty. There is a nice sparkle over the iris. The leather seems gentle so far. It’s the polar opposite of Times Square which I tried over the weekend for the first time. (and the last!)
On Saturday evening I craved Insolence. Today the remnants are stuck to my bathrobe like super glue. For a little pink violet-raspberry thing it is indeed insolent. I could wear it again on Fugly Friday. I do adore the fragrance but I bought it un-sniffed purely for the bottle. Such a funny shape. Serge Mansau surely enjoys stacking things.
Glad you liked L’Attesa. I thought Times Square was funny but not something to wear on regular basis
That’s another +1 for Italian perfume houses. 😉
I don’t know if you have access to L’Atelier de Givenchy (Sephora but it’s possible it is online only).! I think air is Harmonique bears a resemblance to L’Attesa. You smell wonderful.
Ugh again with the fat fingers. The correct name is Iris Harmonique.
I truly enjoyed wearing L’Attesa today but the far dry down turns quite harsh on me. The same thing happened with Masque’s Mandala, it’s gorgeous up top though. I will look for Iris Harmonique, it may fill the L’Attesa shaped hole in my heart, lol. Thank you for the tip. 🙂
SOTD E. Coudray Jacinthe et Rose from the generous Petunia. It seems different every time I test it which was several times over the weekend. A pretty rosy, slightly fruity opening which then turns a bit soapy, retro. Today I seem to be getting some oakmoss amongst the florals. I quite like it. Looks like it was sold in a pretty bottle, too. Very femme.
Glad you’re enjoying it Elisa! I agree that it is very femme.
Spent the weekend in Charlottesville of all places helping a friend check out apts. and potentially relocating from NYC. What a weekend! So grateful we were able to connect with a number of locals who were normal, very nice people, and apart from the craziness found the town to be just lovely and full of great things to do.
Currently with my parents in S.C., just got back from fig picking!
SOTD: Bottega Veneta
Oh, wow. What timing. I’m still disturbed by all the images. So tragic. But fig picking sounds like fun! And of course you smell great.
Still using the travel spray you so generously gave me! 🙂
???? You’re getting some good mileage out of that.
Oh, WOW. And fig picking! Something I don’t think of as happening in the US – so exotic 🙂 (And the former is something that ought not to.)
Wow, I bet that was quite a weekend. Glad you were able to enjoy the town anyway.
Wow! And fig picking! The only thing that would have stopped me from eating half the harvest is I must wash fruit before eating it.
Tardes by Carner Barcelona. Nice and Boozy 🙂
I have a little sample of that and really liked it. I’m saving the rest for.. I dunno what exactly, lol.
Ha! I also have a small sample left which I’m saving for…
This is how sample hording happens 🙂
LOL. My Arielle Shoshana sample seems to never diminish despite me having worn it with a full wearing 3x already.
Starting an eclectic week with SOTD “Spicebomb” by Viktor & Rolf.
Top: bergamot, grapefruit, pink pepper and elemi;
Mid: saffron, cinnamon and chili;
Base: vetiver, tobacco and leather.
My perfume-eating skin chews this up, spits it out and dances on its grave. I’ve had spicier porridge. Looking on the bright side, at least it spares someone here from being torn between two Mister Spicebombs. ;^D
Oh, bummer. I’ve kind of always had high hopes for that one.
Loads of reviewers find it long-lasting, so I say “go on and give it a try!” ;^)
Not a fan of creamsicles* (now fudgesicles, that’s another story!), so wearing my favorite BWF, Manoumalia.
I am – knock wood – having a good day, but my niece’s cat is up a tree and can’t get down, and my husband who is out of town wrenched his back and won’t be flying home tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for the rest of my family, please!
* Autocorrect insists I don’t like Dream Works.
Fingers crossed, and you smell great. Almost wore my tiny bit of this today, actually, until I saw the creamsicle headline and got distracted.
Knocking wood and fingers crossed.
Good morning. I have Titus on my lap, Eric and the Pink Fur of Destiny on my feet and Alexander on my shoulder, weirdly chewing my hair and kneading my scalp, which isn’t even slightly pleasant, though the love is. Dakkie is with the dear man, having Quality Cuddle Time. We’re finding that QCT is rather important at the moment.
Misia for me today, perhaps a counter-intuitive choice because I’m not wearing girly clothes at all. It’s not my most frequently worn Chanel, but today I am really enjoying its swirl of femininity. It seems to extend my “presence” by at least three feet all around me, rather like wearing a dress with a very full skirt.
Work promises to be exceedingly drear today. I hope I kick it hard into shapes don’t come home happily to my own life at about 4.30–my outfit will certainly permit vigorous free-form kicking, at all events! Be well, all.
Hope the day went well!! And you do smell great.
Creamsicles! Darn, if I had known about this in the morning, I might’ve managed to convince myself to have a creamsicle for breakfast. Well, there’s always dessert tonight.
In Chergui today to ease myself into today’s cool, cloudy weather. First time I’ve worn this in months, and I looooove it. Perhaps I should snatch this one up before I have to buy a 100-ml bottle of it. Maaaaaybe another split.
You smell great!
The Barneys SA told me that there will be 50 and 100 mL bottles. I saw the 100 mL bottles and they are meh.
That’s great to know! Yeah, I am not a fan of the 100-mL bottles that I’ve seen pictures of.
I didn’t know today was Creamsicle day, but I don’t have anything really creamsicle-y to commemorate it with.
I’m finishing out the Berdoues samples, with Arz el-Rab, the one I’ve pretty much already used up between the weekend and today because it’s so light. It is my favorite scent of the line, even though I’d love a little more oomph. I love the iris and cedar together. It’s still there now but I have to put my nose like an inch from my arm to smell it. I guess something in it may be fatiguing my nose though, because sometimes I’ll go for a sniff and can’t smell much, and then other times I can smell it.
Not at all sure what I’m going to do for Friday this week. I don’t have just a ton of full bottles anyway, and I don’t know that I have any that I’d consider “fugly”.
Arz is strong on me but I spray it on like crazy given that I have scent eating skin.
I wasn’t going to share today because I’m wearing one of my staples, Jasmin & Cigarette, and I can only post that so many times. BUT a patient just came into my office who is obviously a heavy smoker, leaving such a strong smell behind and I am fascinated by the way it both does and doesn’t reflect the perfume, and honestly everything smells kid of beautiful. Thanks, smoker!
I’m a smoker and find the cigarette note to be quite true, though more ashtray, or even wet ashtray. I quite dislike it – probably due to the associations. I do like tobacco, smoke, and lit cigarette notes in perfume, though.
I’ve been pondering Creamsicles and other such sundries (remember those plastic cups with orange and vanilla swirled ice cream that came with a wooden spoon?.) I never liked them, nor those cups, nor any other vanilla-orange ice cream combo. I just realized why – the orange was always sherbet, and I’ve always hated sherbet, regardless of the flavor. Now sorbet or sorbetto – that’s a horse of a different color. I do remember the vanilla-orange Haagen Dazs and I’d happily lap some of that up.
In Gourmand Coquin, not a creamsicle, but also not that far off. To my surprise, I have quite a few ugly bottles to spritz from this week. If I really wanted to stick to the script, Chanel, Hermes, Lolita Lempicka, Narciso Rodriguez, and Guerlain (for the most part) would be off-limits. But I will not likely adhere all week long.
We’re those Dixie Cups? Forgotten all about them.
You smell wonderful, love Goirmand Coquin.
Aimez Moi from Caron for me today. It’s a rose violet scent that matches I think my new hair colour. I’ve had red-violet hair plenty of times in the past, but this is the first time it’s more violet than red, and I’m really pleased. Although I’m a bit challenged for matching clothes 🙂
Your hair sounds great!
I went for it with the ugly bottle today. YSL Nu EDP in the silver hockey puck compact: https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Yves-Saint-Laurent/Nu-95.html
Good thing the perfume is so lovely. I would have saved it for Friday, but the temps are going to be close to 80. It’s definitely suited to cooler days.
that one is nice, but I think the bottle is a little cool, though impractical…
Way De Merveille from Hermes smells like creamsicle to me
The vetiver and rose attar from Floracopeia arrived today. I ordered it on Friday so I was pleased with the quick delivery. As for the scent itself….at first sniff I got a menthol, cool sensation, and the first thing that came to mind was cooked lentils. Not getting any rose yet. Maybe I’m just not sophisticated enough to appreciate essential oils. ????♀️SOTMorning was Guerlain SDV.
Not one ugly bottle in my house so this week with be tough.
Just got back from the big apple and I am head to toe covered in fragrance 🙂
Continuing on the vetiver theme from last week the SA in the Diptyque boutique in GCT gave me a sample of the newest one to be released in September- Vetyverio….surprisingly I like it 🙂
also tried the new Jo Malones…they are OK but I don’t need them (thank God!)
also sampled Vanille Tobacco, Plum Japanaise, Champaca Intense and Cafe Rose.
Went to the Sephora on 34th and was told they were out of tester sprays and so I could not get any samples. I pulled a hajusuuri and while my mom kept watch made a few of my own samples with my empty vials. Really liked the Canadian inspired Atelier with maple syrup and citrus notes (the name escapes me) and I also made a decant of Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka since they carry the JM line.
My poor mom was exhausted as we basically walked for four hours straight!
all in all a good perfume day!
Wow, I just got back from NYC too! I got to meet up with the lovely hajusuuri.
I know! I missed you guys by two days 🙁
I hope you had fun and got LOTS of samples 🙂
They told me the same thing the last time I was at Sephora. Grrr. I smell a conspiracy!
BARNEYS! According to an SA, they had been out for 3 months! If it’s true, the Beauty Floor manager should get FIRED.
Sounds like you had fun! The Diptique Vetyverio…it smelled muted to me.
Rainy winter Tuesday inspired me to wear Dior Dune EdT.
You smell wonderful.
Been offline due to a trip to NYC for a Basenotes meetup. The lovely hajusuuri joined us as well. We hit up Twisted Lily, Osswald and Barneys on Saturday. Lots of fun and great sniffage was had by all!
Oh, fun! We had great weather this weekend, too.
Oh good, it looks like you are back home again. Fun was had by all and I was sooooo ecstatic to finally meet you!
Yipes, I am running late today! It seems to have been today’s theme. SOTD = Cedrat Enivrant, from the sample stash. Not Creamsicle, but citrus adjacent. Very glad I wore this today… the humidity has spiked up into the “BLECH” range. Cool and crisp is very much appreciated!
I can’t wait for Fall to arrive. As I’ve said before, mother only good thing about summer is fall is the next season.
Fugly Fat Fingers! “the only good…” was what I meant.
SOTD = Le Labo Iris 39
I personally like the bottle design but others think it’s fugly. Whatever. Love the juice!
Travesty of architecture:
I love Victorians and if I had the talent, money and patience, I would restore the outside of an old Victorian with good bones and update the inside to be more contemporary. There was a 4,000 square foot Victorian that came on the market about 10 years ago but it was too large, the inside was dated and the outside was one of the plainest Victorians out there (color: gray on gray). It sold and the new owner decided to change the facade to a combination of stones and stucco. First of all, IMHO, the stones should be more rectangular than oval and stucco? It looked like someone got tired and decided to leave it plain. The house went from fugly to fuglier.
Commuting Woes No. 378:
Today, I decided to switch to a different train car on the way home. Guys, the car I was in on the way home was one giant armpit. I am not kidding. There was no relief as the stench pretty much permeated the entire car. I never did get to MinNY to check out the $5 deodorizer. I may resort to hanging a Car-Freshner tree on my tote bag handle…or something from Yankee Candle.
Oh no! That armpit car sounds awful, I’m so glad you survived! If the car-freshener tree doesn’t work, maybe a scented handkerchief can tide you over for the ride?
SotE is Vanille Insensee, which I’ve been avoiding because I thought it would be a gourmand on my skin but is surprisingly woodsy!
I moved across the state last weekend, my new lab is mostly scent-free unfortunately so I think my perfume days will have to be evenings now. Not that my colleagues would mind, but the animals would go a bit crazy.
i felt quite blue that monday so i wore lilas mauve – yves rocher waiting for the gorgeous frederic malle s en passant to come in my collection. lilas is one of my comfort scent because spring = hope and it was the only tree growing in my childhood house garden. too bad there aren’t many choices with this note. if you have any idea of good lilac centered perfume please let me know ! anyone tried phaedon’s ?
