An embarrassment of options

Posted by Robin on 29 June 2017 5 Comments

Most people, when the weather gets warmer, revert to something cologne-like or citrussy for a scent. My question is, why? If you're going to eat seasonal, you may as well "scent" seasonal too, and if you like your perfumes flowery, as I do, there is an embarrassment of options - from jasmine to rose to sweet pea. But none are quite so perfect to wear in the hot weather as the gardenia.

I tend to wear seasonal scents but then SF is always the cool spot in the country during summer – our seasons are a little odd!

That said, I love a scent with galbanum – Bandit, Chanel No 19, Untitled MMM and Safari or incense/resin, like vintage Chanel No 22, CdG Avignon, L’ Eau Trois or Fille en Aiguilles or Azuree, they somehow bloom beautifully in warm weather.

I do some seasonal shifting, but admit I don’t tend to wear heavy white florals when it’s very hot out. Early summer, yes.

I do adore gardenia though, it’s my favorite flower!

I am not sure where to post this, so here goes: PSA: Barneys Warehouse has a few TDC scents at ridiculously low prices; 3oz Lon de Cordoba and Tokyo Bloom are $30, 3oz Sel de Vetiver, Sublime Balkiss, Pure Eve and Oriental Lounge are $56ish.
