Lazy weekend poll ~ open thread, mid-June 2017

Posted by Robin on 17 June 2017 294 Comments

poppy

We're celebrating June with our usual open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the last perfume you tried and didn't care about either way, whatever.

Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

Happy weekend! I’m trying to make the most out of today, because tomorrow I have a 12 hour shift to work. I’m wearing a Black Musk solid perfume I bought from a Bedouin tent in Wadi Rum, Jordan. Dark and sweetish, simple really, but a nice souvenir of my trip. While I was in Petra I got to see myrrh leaves in a stall selling perfume. The myrrh was amazing – the leaves would curl and almost shimmer when they were touched. I should have bought some myrrh perfume there, but got some black oud perfume which is certainly not real oud, given the price I was charged.

Wow! That’s quite a story! Would love to see those myrrh leaves (didn’t know it came in leaves).

The myrrh comes in tears (I think) – resin drops. The myrrh leaves were there to show that the myrrh was real. Apparently there is a lot of counterfeit myrrh, and this particularly seller wanted to show that he got the real deal.

Wow, I’m among the first today! SOTD is Fleur des Comoros by MPG. It’s something I bought quite awhile ago and more or less forgot until a recent clean-up. It’s wonderful: love that ylang ylang! I put it on early and hope it won’t be overpowering by the time I go for a ballet matinee today (Bayadere).

    Triple strength coffee.
    Extra long workout.
Lunch of Roast Pork sandwich with fried hot Italian peppers and onions from Tony Luke’s.
I’m wearing Prada Luna Rossa Extreme, labdanum, lavender (usually dislike, but love it here) , black pepper, amber.
While I was waiting, the 40ish Hispanic counter man kept sniffing the air.
Called my name, then said what is that lotion you use.
    Prada Luna Rossa Extreme.
It smells great! It is for men, right? ???
    LOLOLOL. ;)
    Yes, it is for men.
    LOL
First time ever someone commented on my scent gender.
    :)
    Carpe Diem. Peace.

What interests me about his question is that it implies he’s met men wearing women’s fragrances, which makes me happy.

        Yes, progress.
And I’ve found that some people prefer lotion, instead of EDT or cologne.
The term lotion, which I’m assuming is shorthand for after shave lotion.
        How was Elvis Costello?

He was great, but the sound was not. When he was speaking to the audience, there was so much distortion I could hardly understand what he was saying. When he was singing it was easier since I already knew the lyrics. We finally went out and listened from the lobby because it sounded better there than in our seats.

A critic in Pittsburgh complained about the sound, and Costello being Costello, he complained about the critic :-)

Anyway, I’m sort of pissed. Concert tickets are expensive. I asked an usher if I’d made a bad choice of seats and he said no, normally Tower has great acoustics but that this was among the worst he’d ever heard there.

Once saw EC at Chicago Theatre, which is a cool historic venue. He had this wheel of fortune thingy featuring song titles, and he’d spin it to choose the next number.
Also saw Allman Bros there. Love their music, but Gregg did not display the knack for witty repartee that EC does.

            Thanks Robin!
Yes concert tickets are expensive, I’ve seen Bowie, Morrissey, The B-52s, etc. there, and the sound was good.
            Must have been EC’s equipment!
            Hope he doesn’t b!t§h about ME !!
            LOL. :)

Galbanumgirl, I saw him at University of Maryland years ago and he was fantastic! I’ve heard of the Wheel thingie, but never seen it in person.

Bear, it was my first time there, that was why we talked to the usher — I was thinking I would never go back. But I will give it another chance, I loved the venue otherwise. Perfect size.

Holy shizz that sandwich sounds good! And not something I’d be able to get in Seattle, sadly (if anyone can correct me on that, please do!)

My husband wore Prada Luna Rossa (edt) the other night and I quite liked it. There seems to be a Prada-ade, as it had some of the same notes as the Infusions I’ve been testing lately.

Tony Luke’s is famous in Philadelphia for the pork sandwiches, even more than their steak sandwiches.
I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this even with lavender.

        A) If I’m in the mood, some people use zone, I prefer mood. That endorphin kicks in, and I enjoy it. Doesn’t always happen.
        B) If I think I may eat a lot of calories. LOL My Father ate a lot, and didn’t gain an ounce. My Mother ate what she wanted, but she could LOOK at a piece of cake and gain 5 pounds. LOL
Take a wild guess whose metabolism I inherited !!!
        Not complain’, just explain’ !!!

    Happ Saturday everyone!

Has anyone tried Viaggio d’Africa? I read about it being similar to Vetiver Tonka and Bal d’Afrique and am curious.

SoTD: Vetiver Tonka. It’s perfect other than the fact that it’s light. I tried this 7+ years ago and thought it was way too sweet and cloying, but after a year of loving other vetivers, I tried it again last night and am head over heels in love.

    Hagw!

It’s a spray EDP. I got the Tauerville discovery set and got 3 1.5 ml sprays for $9. Can’t beat a deal like that, especially since Andy threw in a free fruitchouli flash sample.

oh flopper I truly appreciate your generosity but I am swimming in a sea of samples and want to explore them further before taking away any precious juice from someone else :)
I just wanted to chime in that you smell divine..for some strange reason despite the fact that I have been a perfume addict for 46 years I never tried or bought Dune! And it really is a lovely scent!
and as an aside if you are looking for good and inexpensive decants I recommend amazon for future reference.
do let me know how the two compare when your vintage bottle arrives! Thanks :)

I’m also interested in hearing your thoughts on the 2 formulations. My bottle is from the early 2000’s, and I have wondered if it would be worth chasing down the vintage or not.

The bottle was still in its cellophane wrapped box. The juice is darker than the recent. The vintage has more depth, the drydown is more smooth, and I get more amber. The bottle has a 5 digit batch code, beginning with the number 3. But both versions smell similar to me. The bottle was still warm from being in the mail truck so I’ll have to try again later. I’m happy to send a decant to whomever would like to try!

Good to know. I’ve wondered about the differences and have heard mixed opinions. A lot of people report minor differences only so I never pursued the vintage. I was obsessed with it last year and wore it for days at a time and have made a good dent in my bottle. Enjoy your new acquisition!

Quite a weather change here today, going from 21 degrees few days ago to only 12 degrees today with a heavy rain for a big part of the day. I decided to go into snuggle mood by wearing Aedes Cierge de Lune.
Also had my hair cut today so it’s nice and fresh and I shipped all decants from the recent split I organized.

It’s my 50th birthday today. Funny how certain birthdays can make you feel O.L.D. No SOTD yet. I didn’t get to read the community project post until this morning. Stoked to learn I inspired Robin’s SOTD! I might wear Covet again today. Or might wait to spritz at Sephora. I have to go there later to exchange Tom Ford Noir (men) EDP for EDT, which hubby apparently prefers. They don’t smell too different to me. But if the EDT is cheaper, I’m getting an Angel Muse travel spray with the difference!

Happy Birthday, Sapphire! I know how you feel, having hit that mark already. fwiw, my 50’s brought a feeling of more freedom, as in not caring quite so much what other people think of me.

How about this- my new favorite joke T-shirt: “I thought growing old would take longer.” :-) May the Fragrance Fairy drop a beautiful bottle in your lap!

Songes, 4th day in a row.

Last perfume I tried I didn’t care for, MFK Aqua Universalis from the freebie meet. I will pass this sample along..

Making Moroccan Tagine, not in a clay pot, with veggies I picked up at the farmers market. My apartment smells like cumin & cinnamon, couscous and roasted yams.

I’m sending this link to one of my daughters. They went to Morocco on their honeymoon, but she doesn’t have a big kitchen so she hasn’t bought a clay pot to make a tagine. This will remove her excuse for not making it. (Spellcheck keeps changing this to tag line.)

Had dinner at an Italian restaurant with a friend last night, new place for me but been around for a good 3-4 years and it was such a disappointment. It’s really so surprising reading such good reviews on a restaurant and then to be served a completely mediocre meal. I’m willing to spend $14 on an arugula salad but give me something worth $14!

SOTD Mazzolari Vetiver cause I just can’t get enough Vetiver these days- it’s a complete surprise but an enduring love. I enjoy the many variations of Vetiver as much as Vanilla.

Trying gird myself for 3 12’s in a row before heading home. The sky is looking inauspicious here, so no walks for my little 4 legged friend this afternoon. I’m antsy and ready to hit the road. These next three days will last for-EVER!

I’m totally in love with vetiver too! It’s shocking: I never cared for it before this last year and now it’s so fulfilling, so satisfying. It’s fresh and clean, but earthy. It’s hopeful but also contemplative and thoughtful.

Whicheck are your favorites? What’s the Mazzolari like?

The Mazzolari was a decant courtesy of the kind NSTer, Ms. Foxbins. It’s an edt but has good lasting power on me and it’s great in the heat. Foxbins said it was her favorite Vetiver, so that says it all right there! I also love FM Vetiver Extraordinaire, Hermés Vetiver Tonka, PdN Vetiver, as well as The 7 Virtues Vetiver of Haiti, which I’d love to have in a FB. We won’t mention VP Onda VdE, which also has Vetiver and her newest Naja. Don’t think I’ve met a Vetiver I didn’t like!

I tried Etro Vetiver in a store last week. I think I need a sample of that. Aromatic and earthy.
I also like Sel de vetiver a lot.

Floralgal, I’m done with Chanel forever and always. I will not be sampling or purchasing from that company. However, many say Encre Noir is close Sycomore. The only Mona I have tried is the vanilla, which is beautiful. I’m sure Vetyver is fantastic, too. It seems like a very high quality line of perfumes and ingredients.

Oh, and forgot to mention that I participated in a split with Hajusuuri and a few others to get my 15 ml bottle of Vetiver Tonka. It’s the perfect size! Maybe someone will host another split soon..? I was a little upset to find that T-Rex and unearthed it from my bottomless pit of a purse and chewed the cap! Now it won’t fit on the bottle and I risk losing juice by way of unintentional spritzer depression!

While I think it’s a unique and fabulous fragrance, I don’t think I would recommend a blind buy due to the (incredible) cost…but, if you DID blind buy it and hated it, I’m pretty sure you would be able to sell it for cost (or possibly more since it’s LE and will probably sell out). SotD is Fou d’absinthe, by L’Artisan Parfumeur.

Oh totally forgot to tell you guys about the new addition to the fragrance collection in my house.

Last wednesday I bought a smelly gift for my husband. 30 ml of TF’s Oud Wood. He was very happy with it.
(I already gave him the deodorant a few months ago and he fell for it big time)

He always grabs ‘my’ Hinoki for special occasions haha, but for daily use, he needs more of a mainstream ‘crowd’ pleaser (he is in lots of meetings in offices), and I think Oud Wood is just that, without being boring or too generic.
I may ‘steal’ it once in a while. It works for me as well. But its his signature scent now, I already associate it with him because of the deodorant…

        Thank you!

Yeah those TF prices are insane. Its not something I feel very comfortable with.

We call it the ‘Tom Ford tax’ and we always have a good laugh at the man and the brand.
You know Tom does not dig sweatpants, and is kinda serious about it?

I suspect the way they think at TF is like this “So Versace asks 650 euro for a pair of sneakers? Lets price ours 1000”

But I splurged on that dedorant and pefume, because I dont buy my husband presents that often (and he trusts me on picking scents…as for most other stuff…hmm no way, he is very specific!)

Oh about TF and the sweatpants (i think I already posted that link before but its hilarious)

He is high maintenance, and I have had a high maintenance paramour.
          Not my thing.
          I love many of scents.
The clothes/leather goods/etc. are overpriced, in my opinion.

Beards have more sturdy hair, so I can imagine the oil is probably too greasy for normal hair.

I’m in Calypso on the left and Rose Privee on the right, thanks to Elisa P. and Adanst, respectively. It’s fun to compare roses! Second time to test the Calypso – it’s deeper than the RP, but has a serious hit of mandarin at the start. The RP is airy, and fruity too, but I can’t put my finger on what fruit I’m getting. Anyone have a guess?

Well, my poor hubster is on day four of installing a new disposal. The install didn’t take very long, but the new disposal is bigger and better than the original builder junk. No issue, except the size created a need for some piping rework. Plumbing work is never fun for anyone. :(

I got citrus in Rose Privee. Maybe that makes it fruity? It struck me as a summery, garden rose.
Garbage disposals are not a “thing” on the East Coast it seems. I grew up with one in LA and most apartments I’ve been in in LA have them. I wish we had one now. And I’m impressed that your husband does the plumbing work!

I’m wearing Hanbury for the first time. It’s sweet, but citrusy enough for a Texas June day. So far I have three Maria Candida Gentile decants and really like them all. I really want a decant of Elephants & Roses and one of Lankaran Forest. I’m going to wait till next quarter, since I have way overspent this quarter.

I thought they were being dropped from a couple of the shops that used to carry them since a few places put them on sale and didn’t replace the stock. Parfum1 does carry the entire line, however, and in both sizes. The only downside is not being able to get samples of them :-(

Thanks to the freebiemeet, I now have a pile of lovely JM travel bottles/samples to play with! Trying out a combination suggested by someone a few days ago, where I layered JM Wood Sage & Sea Salt with Red Roses to get a gorgeous beach rose scent. I love it; it’s just the right kind of rose for a hot June day.

And as if that weren’t enough rose, we bought a lovely patio rose plant today! It’s an Intrigue Rose, and smells gorgeous.

I posted about this yesterday, and will likely continue to do so until about the middle of next week or until I get a full split, but: I’m thinking of splitting either SL Arabie or Feminite du Bois (with a heavy preference for Arabie, since it’ll be discontinued soon) before the lovely current 50-mL bottles are changed out for the 100-mL ones. We currently have ~30 mL accounted for, so if anyone is interested in a split, please let me know! I’ll get the bottle from Fragrancenet, where Arabie is ~$60 and FdB is ~$70 for a FB. My e-mail address is ko bhatta at jee male dawt cawm.

SOTD = Aftelier Vanilla Smoke Extrait

Perfect as is but guess what??? I was standing in the produce aisle next to the strawberries and the smell of the strawberries really made the vanilla pop! Any recommendations for a vanilla-strawberry perfume?

Last week, I went to the mall with my mom so she can choose between 2 flip phones. 90 minutes later (I know), I told her to go shop at Uniqlo for 10-15 minutes while I do mine at Nordstrom. When I met up with her, she said she picked out a jacket but since she did not bring her wallet, she asked a cashier to hold it for her. I went back in with her and there was a line for the register. I went to the back of the line thinking that she will just stand next to me but NO, I was horrified that she planted herself at the front of the line and as soon as a cashier opened up, she made a beeline for it (granted she had her walker, but I never thought she could move that fast). No one spoke up probably because they were all a lot younger than her. My question is, what is the proper etiquette for this situation? Go to the back of the line or assume you’re next regardless of the line?

Oh my god, I can totally remember my mother doing things like that – and she wasn’t that old and didn’t have a walker. I think normally go to the back of the line, but age and the walker sort of gives your mother a pass. (Mine had no excuse other than her deep conviction that she was the center of the universe.)

My grandma used to go to the head of the line all the time, and I’d be mortified. One time I asked her to stand at the back, and she said, “I’m old! I have things to do before I die, and I don’t have time to stand in line.” Viewed from that perspective, I shut up about it, and oddly, no one behind her ever told her off. Of course, that was fifty years ago and people might be less tolerant now.

Strawberry brings Cartier L’Heure Convoitee to mind, but if I recall correctly, it’s more powdery than vanillic.
Have you seen any of Saks’ pop-up shops? Was reading something in NYT about salt spas, and it mentioned at Saks pop-up The Wellery “shoppers can refresh themselves in one of several salt booths, 10 mins for $25, until the end of October.” Believe that refers to the flagship store.

I love this… I have such a heart for giving those that are senior my seat, my place in line, whatever. They do not get the respect they deserve and I prefer they’re cared for well wherever they are and go!

However, I did this recently on line at the post office and it didn’t go over very well. I waited on line 20 minutes only to be told I had to do this and that, and so I went and did this and that and decided I’m not waiting another 20 minutes and proceeded straight to the front of the line (off to the side a bit). I asked the woman behind the Plexiglas (why do they still have this?) if it was OK that she took me rather than waiting in line and she nodded her head yes. When the next opening came up and I took it that’s when a couple of people still on line started verbalizing their unhappiness with me. I apologized but also let them know I had already waited for some time. Came home and told my husband that he goes to the post office from now on whenever I can’t use the machines. I’m done.

I’m sorry you had that experience at the PO. My PO staff is really good about telling people to go fill out a form but then they can come right back up when they’re done. They say it loud enough that everyone in line understands, and of course that person shouldn’t have to stand in line again. Sheesh!

My local PO is so small that going to the side still means you’re within 10 feet of everyone else who may be there when one was sent to the side to fill out a form. Good idea though to have hubby be responsible.

And sadly I have to shower it off soon as I am going to spend time with a perfume-phobe brother-in-law. The phobic drives me crazy but also the way it was announced. My sister-in-law, his wife, texting me last time I saw them to ‘just wear a tiny dab’ as if the problem was that I was a wild over sprayer. Somehow I found this more annoying than him, not her, just saying, perfume bugs me, could you not wear it tonight.

Tested a bit of TDC Le 15 (nice!) and A*Men Pure Coffee (yummm!) before spraying a fair amount of Hermes Caleche on one arm. I wore the last of a Caleche sample recently, wanted to spend more time with it, and bought a used older bottle, which arrived today. It struck me as a good summer wear, and I think it will be.

Going to a jazz show tonight and haven’t thought about what to wear (either clothing or perfume.) I have designated SSS Champagne de Bois as my go-to scent for plays, but it could work here just as well. Will have to contemplate further…

I’ve been thinking lately about a light, airy, creamy, but mostly spicy perfume. It’s been flashing through my head lately and I’m not sure if I’m getting flashbacks of something I can’t quite put my finger on, or something I just want to smell.

Anyhoo – any suggestions for something that might fit the bill? I know spicy is a broad category ~ I’m thinking nose-tingling spice, but suitable for warmer weather (warm, not hot, and will likely not be hot for some time to come if it ever does at all.) Orientals, florals, ambers, teas.. ?

How about Bulgari Omnia? I bought a bottle a few months ago and have been pleasantly surprised with how well it works in just about any weather. The sprayer is a little annoying, but I’ve found that I really can’t beat Omnia for versatility, performance, and price when I’m in the mood for spice.

Theorema Esprit d’ete is another one I’ve enjoyed. I used to find it priced pretty reasonably on eBay…certainly cheaper than the original Theorema.

SotD = La Chasse aux Papillons

Was reminded by the Saturday question over at APJ that La Chasse was the first niche FB I bought when I fell head over heels for fragrance a few years ago. No, wait, now I’m wondering if it was Songes, I must have bought both around the same time.

Before I found those I was loyal to Oscar, Nina, Rive Gauche, Dior Eau Fraiche (1955) and eau de Cologne from Crabtree & Evelyn. Also Avon Timeless, which memory says might have been a Shalimar doppelganger.

Yes, Avon had some winners. When I was a teen my piano teacher often gave me an Avon mini as a token gift to celebrate a birthday, holiday, recital performance, or just to be nice. I wish I could smell them again.

All of those Avon scents smelled good to me, a few appealed so much I used them up. Timeless is the only one I remember wearing into adulthood.

Do you remember Sweet Honesty, Candid and Ariane? I wore those in my youth.

I worked with someone who wore Timeless every single day to work. It was her signature scent. And I always told her how great she smelled!

Hello Saturday! Slept in, got up and had coffee, and then back to bed… back up again! Soooo nice to have nothing on the calendar today.
I just received a couple of samples I ordered from Phoenix Botanicals, a brand I am not familiar with but right out of Brooklyn and Lavender Noir and Vanilla & the Sea were two with note combinations I wanted to try. Verdict: loving the LN! and V&tS not as much. Being 100% natural they don’t have the staying power I like, but definitely not as fleeting as you’d expect. LN is all lavender/tonka/smoke on me…really gorgeous…more sweet than sharp, and definitely a keeper for this lavender lover. V&tS reminds me an awful lot of Hiram Green’s Voyage.

Well , we fitted quite a lot in today. Hot sunny day and TOMK is on day 2 of a 3-day music festival, so we went in to the venue early (there was a talk he was going to). I left him there after a cold cider, then stumbled into a street food festival (middle eastern for lunch, Polish pierog and Persian baklavas to take home). Then got a cool light at a craft fair, and got home for an hour before going into town again to catch “Coppelia” at the Birmingham Royal Ballet”. Boy, those dancers are fit – its effectively 2 hours of non-stop acrobatics set to music. Then picked up TOMK (the festival venues are baking like ovens this year – old industrial buildings with of course no aircon) and came home.

SOTD was Caron “Le 3eme Homme”.

    Top: bergamot, lemon and mandarin;
    Mid: lavender, clove and coriander;
    Base: vetiver and oakmoss.

A surprisingly good choice for a hot day!

SOTE was Annick Goutal “Ninfeo Mio”.

    Top: citron, lemon, galbanum, petitgrain and bitter orange;
    Mid: fig leaf and mastic;
    Base: woody notes.

I kept getting little blasts of this during the ballet; beautiful. :^)

Wearing Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Bianca on this over 100 degree day. Yesterday was a lovely mild day in San Francisco (over 100 miles away) where I took my daughters to smell the blooming Corpse Flower in Golden Gate Park. It was such a great experience and fun to see so many people there to have a sniff and see this gigantic, unusual plant!!!

I missed out on seeing the U.S. Botanic Garden’s own Corpse Flower in bloom in D.C. last summer, so here’s hoping it’ll bloom again this year.

Testing FM Superstitious and finding it somewhat crude. It has a vintage aldehydic floral vibe, and I find I’m comparing it unfavorably to my actual vintage fragrances and Amouages. Today’s hot and humid is probably not the best match, either. Just as well, the last thing I need in this heat is an annoying lemming. ;)

Well the day is winding to a close and enjoyed reading everyone’s posts. It was very hot in Toronto today but then there was a big thunder shower in the mid-afternoon. The rain pounded down for about 30 minutes or so.

When it’s really muggy and hot I love spritzing with citrus colognes and mixing them up all day. This morning I put on a very generous spritz of Chanel Bel Respiro and went for a lovely afternoon tea with a friend. The shop was very charming and old school and our hostess was very welcoming. It was very cozy drinking tea and being out of the rain.

Back home and I have had a shower with L’Occitane Verbena shower gel (I buy this every summer) and had an evening spritz of Monsieur Balmain. It is a lemon lover’s deelight. Pure lemon and not much else. I am feeling very refreshed and cool.

Opposite of floragal today….I actually set my alarm because we went to the first showing of Wonder Woman in 3D IMAX, since it’s half price and so dang expensive normally. I did spray on Le Temps D’Une Fete, which I tend to hoard since I only have the one bottle. I do love it so.

Movie was excellent…I recommend. Beyond the action, it’s a good story and quite affecting. My husband and I each got a bit weepy.

Good evening, is anyone up for some perfume detective work, using some annoyingly vague clues? I have a sample of unknown origin, probably at least five years old. Any writing has long since worn off the vial. The scent is gorgeous. It starts off as pure, dark honey and quickly develops into church incense. If anyone was raised Orthodox Christian like me, it’s exactly like the incense used during the liturgy. Any idea what this delightful fragrance could be? Thank you for reading!

Sounds like it could be Comme des Garcons – Avignon from the incense series. A wild guess. I was brought up with incense in church as well and I love the smell. Incense is so deep and mystical.

Went with my daughter to Ulta today. She loves make up, and I get to sniff around. I ended up spraying a ton of Prada Amber, my thought being if I spray enough I would recall what it reminds me of. I couldn’t recall, but I do smell very good. It was nice to take my mind off of the day (some jerk hit my car in the parking lot. and took off).

    Happy Father’s Day!

Last night I tested the following-
Cuir Belluga -wow! I can see what all the fuss is about…had to refrain from using the entire vial as I put it aside for a younger family member who is a vanilla fiend

Panorama- something in the opening of this reminds me of the discontinued Eau de Camille (AG)

Seven Veils- added this to my test again in winter/cold weather…I have a bag of those samples in my basement which also include all the Amouage and anything with cuir in the name

This morning am testing Love (by Kilian), Hiris and Iris Ukiyoe….when my skin eats them I will test some more of others from my sample sea.

My sens unique box this month has the theme of “vacations”. Today I am wearing Shardana by Bottega Profumiers. The notes are “Anise, salt water, thyme, myrtle, patchouli, sandalwood, cedar wood and musk”. My unsophisticated nose skips right over the anise, but the salt water and thyme are coming through clear. I really like it, and “clean” fragrances aren’t my usual thing. It is supposed to be reminiscent of Sardinia but I’m thinking it is the perfect scent for sailing and/or whale watching, something I often do on vacation so I might invest in this one.

Another day, another SOTD: Today I am wearing HdP Tuberose 2: Virginale. It was a GWP one time and I never in a million years would have expected to like it so much. Tuberose? PLUS cherries? Ew! But in fact it’s such fun and uplifting! I have to concede that in fact I must actually quite like tuberose since Amouage Honour Woman is another of my favorites.

Scent for church on this hot morning was almost Le Temps d’une Fete again. But instead I went with the sweetness that is Elie Saab L’eau Couture. It just feels so fresh. I could smell myself during service and hoped others were enjoying it too….

For some reason, the heat felt more pleasant to me today. But my husband was eager to get back in front of A/C and the US Open. I plan to do the clothes two-step. Pull down more Summer from space bags and exchange for those I don’t need till Fall.

Another hot, sunny day but after my escapades of yesterday there was no more funtime. Today was financial admin with a statutory deadline – the worst kind. Well, at least I got to wear shorts. :^)

    SOTD was Galimard “Offrez-lui”.

    Top: lavender and bergamot;
    Mid: jasmine;
    Base: musk, sandalwood and vanilla.

Now at the airport (and no longer in shorts) heading off to DUS for the week. SOTE is Paul Emilien “Une Belle Journee”.

    Top: lime, rose, mint, iris and mandarin;
    Mid: violet leaf, pink pepper, peony, rose, galbanum, geranium and jasmine;
    Base: Jasmine, leather and oakmoss.

One of the most beautiful scents I own, and probably what I would wear for next Friday’s community project except I only wear samples Mon-Fri and my own FBs at weekend.
