Happy Fat Tuesday! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Etro Shaal Nur, because Catlady4 mentioned it in yesterday's poll. Tea at the moment is Kusmi Troika.
Reminder: 3/3 will be Let Your Freak Frag Fly Friday — wear your oddest fragrance. Suggested by Monkeytoe.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Let Your Freak Frag Fly Friday: Limon Verde
“Savor a caipirinha under the lemon trees along the Amazon River,” says Guerlain What you get is paint thinner and sharp green notes. I happen to love it and own a FB
Crisp white T shirt today with jeans and a Lodolite necklace. French press coffee, sunshine, playground with the babies
Sounds like a lovely day you’ve got planned.
have a lovely day too Mals
Jealous of your T-shirt weather!
Me too!
I still have to wear a jacket outside, so don’t be jealous . Its in the high 50’s
Goutal’s Eau du Fier, my favourite Lapsang Souchong scent.
You smell great. Very sad that one is a goner.
One of my best buys ever. Even though I don’t wear it that often, it’s nice to know that it’s sitting in my fridge.
Wish I’d gotten to try that but I was too late.. sigh..
If ever you do come across some do try. It’s very unique.
Ooh, I should pull out my sample of that one!
It’s very gorgeous.
Decidedly un-freaky Beige.
But most decidedly lovely.
Ah. But a great scent!
Woodpecker chippin’ away at a new home in the backyard!
Triple strength coffee.
Parfum d’interieur Opopanax Diptyque – resinous sweet myrrh, bergamot, and cinnamon.
Very Shalimar/Shaal Nur, muted and beautiful.
Life is good.
😀
Carpe Diem. Peace.
I love woodpeckers. We’ve got several of the big pileated ones.
I love woodpeckers, too.
Ditto!
Pileated woodpackers are amazing. They do not look quite real to me. We have a HUGE white opossum that shuffles around our backyard at night) that never ceases to surprise me with its strangeness as well. Although we have pileated woodpeckers in northern Cal, I have yet to see one near the house. Pileated woodpecker sightings seem like they are getting rarer in my neck of the woods. I hope not.
We occasionally see pileated woodpeckers flying by our house, but they mostly stay up in the big timber. We do have a sapsucker that shows up every January and spends the whole day drilling tiny holes in one of our trees. I think it might be the same individual that comes back each year.
Adding to the woodpecker love. We mostly see flickers in these parts–so pretty and the sweetest coo!
We have several types of woodpeckers and flickers, but mainly Acorn woodpeckers – such clowns. That reminds me, I should put out the birdfeeders now that we have a break in the monsoons…
My 18-month-old does a pretty great acorn woodpecker call!
Yes, gorgeous black/white/red creatures.
There is also a bluejay nest a few trees over.
They DO NOT tolerate the neighbor’s cats, at all.
😉
They tag team the cats and well, the cats retreat quickly!!
SOTD Eau d’Italie Sienne l’Hiver.
It is definitely one of the weirdest scents I own. It is ashy and melancholy and I find that weirdly comforting.
Love it! And good choice – I may copy you tomorrow 🙂
Great pick.
Oooh, I love that scent! You smell wonderful.
It’s hard to beat the weird Duchaufours!
My weird pick for Friday is a Duchaufour.
I love that one – it is weird, along with Bois d’Ombrie. Should wear one of those Friday.
In Chanel 22 EdT. Beautiful, elegant and appropriate for a day full of meetings. Nice and sunny morning in NY. Spring is approching…
No.22 is my most recent purchase, I got a slightly used bottle of edt for a good price on eBay, so beautiful, and it is surprisingly long lasting on my scent eating skin too!
It lasts on me the whole day. It is gorgeous. Enjoy your new bottle!
You smell beautiful!
Thank you ????
We’re twins! It a recent love for me too. We smell so classy, don’t we?
We DO! ????
No. 22 makes me feel like I’m wearing champagne. 🙂
Yes!
This is off subject but you know, it makes me sad sometime that it’s easier to get samples of niche than designer. I would love some Chanel samples but don’t know where to get them. Or Guerlain. I wear out LuckyScent etc. though for niche lol.
Kelly, If you live in the US, you can buy online decants of some Chanels and Guerlains from The Perfumed Court. (They don’t ship to New York.)
Mmm, that photo…
One of the managers brought in donuts this morning.
I’m in Eau de Merveilles and buckling down for reports.
Apparently Canada eats more donuts than any other country. I am proud to be a Canadian.
Agreed !!!
Tim Hortons? That is your donut place
We always grab a box of Timbits for the road on our way home from Vancouver. Tastes like Canada. 🙂
Donuts and Justin Trudeau. What more could one want? ????
So true, so true.
REALLY jeolous of Trudeau these days. We used to have a cute president, too. 😉
Sigh.
Really?
Fly your donut flag high! http://online.hallmark.com/hoopsandyoyo/images/downloads/wallpaper/hyy_dl_wp_13.jpg
That’s cute 🙂
Excellent- a Fat Tuesday indeed!
Wearing Chanel Cuir EDT.
I was decanting yesterday, and spritzed some on this on me instead of the vial, and smelled it all night.
Woke up this AM already knowing I needed more.
I bought this bottle with my very 1st alimony cheque, and every time I spritz it, I smile just a teensy bit.
They do say living well is the best revenge……
Good for you! And you smell wonderful.
Loving that philosophy!
You go and be fabulous! Living well is indeed the best revenge.
Fantastic!
SotD: CdG Dry Clean. This one is odd, but on the edge of wearable. Nail polish remover, plastic bags, laundry musks, steam. Odd.
Wow. I can just picture That Smell. Definitely weird.
I’ve been looking for my CdG Garage for Friday and cannot find it. Never had Dry Clean.
NST had a thread about CDG bringing back all their scents in an olfactory library, in May, I believe.
Lemming alert!!!!!!
😉
Basenotes, not NST !!!
More coffee!
STAT!
Triple strength?
Just found & will announce shortly, huge thanks!
I am planning on wearing both Tar and Garage this week. After incense, Synthetic is my favorite CdG Series and arguably more essential since you can find plenty of other incense fragrances.
Just read the review of Garage. Sounds fascinating!
Infusion d’Homme (Prada). Mardi Gras! 🙂
SotD: Amouage Myths Woman. It’s odd, for sure. And the strange thing is that I crave it sometimes but then once I put it on, I’m still unsure about whether or not I like it.
Update: I want it off. Right now.
Oh dear.
It’s probably not that dramatic. Just one of those days when I’m not in sync with my scent (but I really really want to be).
Oh I so know the feeling, that whole sequence plays out just like that some days.
I am also torn about Myths. Maybe I want it to be simething that it isnt? just not sure.
Serge Lutens La Fille de Berlin
Lovely
Does this one last on you, if I may ask? I tried it yesterday from a sample. It was very pretty, but nearly gone within a couple of hours.
I hope you don’t mind my two cents worth Nancy, but it lasts all day on me. I do spray clothes as well though which definitely helps the longevity.
it I can through in my 2 cents as well..it lasts all day on me as well.
My SOTD today faded in about an hour
Yes, it lasts all day on me too, I’m a generous sprayer, as I tend to have scent eating skin, but don’t need too much of this one.
I’m wearing Chanel 19 because I needed confidence today for a challenging work. Simultaneous interpreting English to Portuguese.
It’s helping…
Chanel make some of the best spine-stiffeners around. You got this!
Oh good luck. ‘Simultaneous’ and I don’t play well together. ‘Simultaneous’ and translating together? (Shudders!!)
I’m utterly impressed with you.
Slumberhouse Vikt, a.k.a. World’s Sexiest Cough Syrup
Lol! World’s Sexiest Cough Syrup……I almost fell out of my chair!
????
SOTD: Lush’s Ladyboy.
The name is a little out there and the scent, well, it’s totally bananas!
I haven’t sniffed this, but I love the name!
I’ve never heard of this one! I’m so curious now.
Histoires de Perfumes Moulin Rouge today, I love these little 15 ml bottles, and this is just gorgeous, that is if u like makeup scents.
TOTD is Earl Grey.
It’s Shrove Tuesday/pancake day today, and looking forward to making a batch when we’ve picked up my little girl from school.
Wish I had some Sunshine & Pancakes by 4160 Tuesday’s for today!
These are two scents I’m eager to try and haven’t gotten around to. Thanks for the reminder. Have you tried Sunshine & Pancakes? It sounds so fun.
Also, where did you find a 15ml bottle of Moulin Rouge? I don’t see that size for 1889 on their website.
Parfum1 don’t have any in stock atm but I think they usually have it..
Thanks!
I got it direct from they’re website, about a month ago.. Hope u find it!
I haven’t tried any from 3160 Tuesday’s yet, but have read some reviews, Sunshine & Pancakes sounds really lovely, and Doe in the Snow and Urikoes Cafe (something like that anyway). If u try it, please let me know what u think!
I was thinking the same thing. The male teachers, dads, grandpas and a local police officer make pancakes for the whole school because it is Shrove Tuesday and the whole school smells like pancakes and maple syrup.
Yum!
I wear Sunshine and Pancakes every Sunday morning when I make buttermilk pancakes for my fellas. 🙂
Ahh, that sounds like a good way to spend a Sunday!
SOTD and weird perfume #2 is Ys-Uzac “Dragon Tattoo”.
Notes: leather, ink, caramel, fruity notes and musk.
Oh Lord, this is pure yuk. I put it on just after a shower, and instantly smelt as if I hadn’t showered in a week, and was trying to cover it up by spraying Lilt under my arms. It’s actually an embarrassment to wear this. I smell like an extra in a kompromat film the Russians might have made (allegedly).
I’m sorry you smelled so stinky, but your description really made me laugh:)
I can handle leather, caramel, fruity notes, and even musk in a scent. Not sure if I can take all of them in one perfume. And, I wonder if the “ink” note is what threw the whole scent off. Interesting.
My thoughts exactly!
*dies laughing* Oh my! Time for another shower- with plenty of soap.
LOL.
Agree, I liked Pohadka very much, so I was highly disappointed in the later Ys Uzacs.
Oh dear lord. That sounds hilariously horrible.
???? I had to go consult the Oracle on Lilt, and I’m assuming that you’re referring to the tropical soft drink? It was never released here in the U.S., and what I know as Lilt was a home permanent kit from decades past. That would have added another dimension to stinkyness!
Oh my gosh, i remember Lilt!
I can’t say anything that hasn’t been said except – thanks for taking one for the team., that sounds ghastly. You are a much braver soul than I.
Nothing strange about Lalique Le Parfum, but I was feeling like I needed a dose of pretty today.
Peeve of the AM: people who won’t move in to the middle of the subway car, even when you ask (sort of)nicely!!
I accidentally spilled some coffe on someone in the process of trying to get to the empty middle ???? People.
The days of subway Etiquette are long gone!
I have gone through 2 preganancies with commuting by subway and bus, and very few times has any one bothered to look up from their candy crush game or take off their headphones to even hear me say, “can I have your seat” Most just chose to ignore my enormous stomach right in front of their face
So don’t feel bad about the coffee being spilt.
It’s bad enough when people don’t offer, but seriously awful when you ask abd they ignore you. But good for you for asking! So sorry you had to put up with that.
when I would complain to my husband he always thought I was over exaggerating…until he was with me once and asked a guy on my behalf if he wouldn’t mind giving up his seat so that I could use it. They guy looked at my husband and said..she is going to just half to wait until my stop comes and I get off!!!!
True Story.
Do these people have friends?!? But I totally believe that.
Sounds like someone who needn’t procreate.
Ah, that sounds like the NYC I know so, so well!
What a BEEEEEP BEEEEEP BEEEEP!!!! I can not understand how people can be so rude and hard-hearted. My sympathy goes to you and all expecting mothers taht have to deal with this kind if beeeep.
About 4 years ago I was in Russia visiting my parents and my MIL and had to go on the bus with my kids and a huge baby bump. There were no available seats left and I was standing with the kids . The lady who collected bus fare saw my belly, yelled on the man who was sitting close to me and ORDERED him to leave his seat. True story.
Sorry to hear about your rough commute in the morning. Hopefully, going back will be better. You smell great!
Thanks! Going home is usually less crowded.
Oh no! Not lost coffee!
Yeah, what a waste!
19 EDP. Some perfumes are gorgeous and I remember that they are, but 19 is one of those that always surprises me with its surpassing perfection. It’s my most prolific producer of exclamation: “Why didn’t I remember how wonderful this is?!” and “Why don’t I wear this more often??!?”
No 19 is wonderful no matter the concentration. Perfect spring and summer scent.
I ask myself the same questions every time I wear No. 19. It’s perfect!
Yes! I just made that notation in my perfume diary after wearing it Sunday night. It also always strikes me as a very “perfume-y” perfume, possibly because it’s so abstract.
Smart of you to keep a perfume diary — I find myself losing track of past perfume impressions, these days.
Twins!!
Cuir de Lancome is probably the thing I say that most about, but I do sometimes get on kicks where nothing but No. 19 will do, and if I’m not wearing it I’m thinking about it.
I should try No. 19 again. Especially since No. 5 finally won me over. Or maybe for my wallet’s sake I shouldn’t.
Hope you’re enjoying the Shaal Nur!
L’Artisan Vanilia for me today. So sad this one is discontinued! I haven’t found another vanilla scent like it.
You smell wonderful! One of my favorites and I almost wore it today, but instead went with Blvgari Omnia.
I am, thanks for the nudge!
Happy Tuesday All! Today is my second day back at work since my mishap from my knee surgery. So far, so good (keeping my fingers crossed). I technically haven’t been at work since mid – November. So, trying to get back into the swing of things.
My SOTD is from a collection I had been dying to sample. I took advantage of one of STC sales and got it. I am wearing “Silver Needle Tree” from Jo Malone’s Tea Collection. Wow! This is so pretty, but oh so light! I probably will never be able to afford to buy a FB, so I will have to wear this on “special occasions” The combination of white tea, bergamot, and rose are just heavenly together.
Be careful with your knee!
I liked one of the perfumes from that collection but there were no SAs in sight even to try to get a sample. And this huge bottle is not something I can see in my collection. I wish they made a set of 9 ml bottles of this collection. Or at least had their usual 30 ml bottles for these scents.
The SA that I usually purchase from at Neiman’s told me that they weren’t allowed to give samples of this collection because it was so costly. I couldn’t go to the store at the time (because of my knee), so she threw in several other samples for me. She felt bad about it. I also got a small decant of the “Jade” one, but I don’t like it as much as I like “Silver”.
I will be careful with my knee. Thanks! 🙂
Pfft. Person at Neimans just sounded cheap. Nordstroms? They will STUFF your purse with samples, because they always know that the first hit is free…then you are a customer for life.
Unfortunately, that’s their policy with this line. I practically begged for a sample from the SA, and he wouldn’t budge. But he did give me this ridiculous little tile thing and sprayed the scent on it. Comes in a little cardboard wrapper. Tell me this isn’t more expensive than samples!?!
Oh, comment below was at Nordie’s.
Hope getting back in the groove is easy for you! Take it easy.
The notes of that one sound lovely-I don’t think I tried any of the tea collection.
Thanks. Yeah, the first two days haven’t been that bad. Its been a pretty smooth transition so far.
I really do like “Silver” but, again, they are super light. I think it maybe lasted on me a good hour and a half, and I sprayed it on like nobody’s business.
Glad to hear you’re on the mend and back at work! Take it easy. Don’t try to catch up on everything at once. Your perfume sounds lovely.
Will do! I will definitely listen to all of the words of wisdom everyone has told me. Definitely don’t want to end up on the other side again.
Glad you’re knee op went well!
Hope your knee continues to improve!
I’m wearing Commodity Wool today. Not that it’s freaky, but the name combined with the 80+ degree muggy weather in my part of Texas is weird.
Just the word wool makes me feel itchy.
Exactly.
I am wearing Serge Lutens Jeux de Peau.
Closest smell to a beignets!
Yum!
I thought of wearing this one too! But since I just wore it a few days ago I didn’t. Great pick! You smell delicious.
I’ve worn this one a lot this winter — it’s like cuddles in a bottle!
I had a friend who ate french toast with salt & pepper (rather than sugar or syrup) and that’s what Jeux de Peau reminds me of. Particularly if one finished that meal with a clove cigarette 😉
French toast with salt and pepper is excellent, btw. Although, I add a little sugar also.
Finishing rose month today in Une Rose Chypree.
That’s a nice one. You smell terrific!
Thank you! 🙂
It’s hard to believe the month is gone!
I’ll re-try URC tonight.
I know, right?
You smell wonderful, I love Une Rose Chyprée.
Thank you!
I am going to get an Explorer Set size of Une Rose Chypre. Love!
Chypree!
What a good idea… Hmmm…
I overdid Amouage Interlude Man today… (Even though it’s a sample from a set) I gave it 4 spritz… I gave it an hour but still I had to wipe some off before I suffocated, as much as I like this fragrance…
that was my freak frag fragrance from yesterday..well..the women version
The women’s version is definitely the freak!
Carnivale- farewell to the flesh!
1) I am TOTALLY having a drink tonight- but not more than that since I have a wellness appointment tomorrow!
2) SOTD: JM Incense and Cedrat- drained the sample. Very lovely, woody and fresh!
I’m decidedly UN-freakish today….
SOTD: Chanel No 5 EdT. Like a hug from my grandma! 🙂
Well, it’s freaking beautiful!
Ha! It really is 🙂
Nice!
I’m wearing Angel layered with L’Occitane Pamplemousse Rhubarbe. Recommended!
This sounds very intriguing. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with the L’Occitane.
It just adds a little more citrus and berry flavor!
I like to layer Chanel Cristalle vert with Shalimar
Ooh, intriguing!
Abandoned my comfort scent 25+ day roll for weird. Couldn’t resist the week’s theme and it is an excuse to try a few of my more random samples.
So today I am in Delicious Closet Queen. Hmmm. I get the joke. This thing went on like a classic fougere, and I thought ‘uh oh!’ and then ‘nooooooo!’ But the fougere fugue passes after about 10 minutes.
What remains is a pretty blend of violet, leather, and sandalwood. It still veers masculine to my nose, but that is because 1. it started smack dab in masculine territory, 2. I am never quite myself in leathers and so think of them as masculine, or at least butch if not exactly masculine. Leather lovers, this is one to try, I think, if you can bear the fougere opening.
I really like DCQ and to me (she who is not a big fougere fangirl) it doesn’t smell too fougere-y. But then I’ve happily dipped myself in the smell of a steamy alll-nighter with a hot guy so my masc- fem index may be a little askew 😉
I tip my hat to your joie de vivre in Colonia Oud! I’m usually not too keen on the masc-fem fragrance index generally–not out of some PC principle of perfume, but because I just think the idea of scent being gendered is odd… and yet, and yet, and yet… many leather scents ‘feel’ too macho to me for my rather round and lumpy mid-life lady-ness.
Lol! I feel exactly the same way about most fougeres, unless they’re just called that without being one- like a modern chypre
Acqua de Parma Colonia Oud. This smells like a sexy man’s sweat and I LOVE IT! 😉
Sexy man sweat really is the best!
I have a sample of that at home – I might put it off for a bit, depending on how the rest of my weird perfumes go this week. :^)
Promptly adding to the sample list, with blushes…
I have a thing for “sexy man armpits”……..
Too weird? Sorry. Lol!
I have a thing for “sexy man armpits”……..
Too weird? Sorry. Lol!
Not sure why it posted twice. Maybe one for each arm? Lol!
I honestly don’t know what to consider freaky for this project. I have the day off, so tried my sample of Chance eau Tendre. Way to “pink” for me, so I doused myself in Jimmy Choo. I’m still not happy though, I will probably switch again later.
I am not in the mood for a week of freaky so have not started yet, but there were lots of ideas in yesterday’s comments, and more today!
Boise Torride with my celebratory Mardi Gras donut and black coffee.
Mmmm donuts and black coffee!
Haven’t had a donut in a year… maybe it’s time!
It was time yesterday, is the time now, and will be tomorrow. 😀
Had lots of work meetings today, so weird or freaky was out of the question.
Restrained/polite but lovely in Eau de Narcisse Bleu (Hermes).
Now off to the cinema, resprayed EdNB after a shower. 🙂
You smell very nice! I’ll wear this one soon: it’s a spring time perfume for me.
Now my mother is head over heels in love with Amouage Beloved and Epic for women and asked for one of them for her birthday and her birthday is in May. She loves Beloved more so I might go halfsies with my dad on that one. Wearing Femenite du Bois today.
Your mom has great taste!
I think she is kind of bored with the mainstream stuff and I don’t blame her. She still hates Mitsouko and half my collection.
Can’t blame her there! I’m bored with the mainstream stuff too, except for a few of course! At least she’s venturing out. 🙂
I’m convinced my mom will wear Chanel Allure EdT until the day she dies. But it could be worse lol.
I ordered a sample of that and received what HAD to be Allure Homme instead. ACK. Generic masculine mallrat. Scrubscrubscrub
I actually find the women’s EdT lovely and very well done. It’s a bit older and not like a lot of the newer Chanel stuff to me. I just wish my mom would branch out- I cannot imagine only using one scent all the time!
I am wearing Beloved today, your mom will be so happy to receive it. Such a great scent.
Hermes Rose Ikebana for the last day of the Month of Roses. When I was planning the month, I left this one for the last because I thought it would be warm by now. This winter was unusually cold for NorthCal, so RI is a little too light for today – but it’s OK: spring is coming, I can feel it.
I think we should print up t-shirts for our friends and neighbors that say, “Season 7, Episode 1: Spring is coming.”
Bwah ha ha ha, that’s perfect. Spring is going to be glorious this year. After all the rain on the west coast the flowers and trees should put on a great show.
Lol
SOTD is Safran Troublant. I was at Nordstroms yesterday and they have the Jo Malone Bloomsbury Set collection. Whiskey & Cedar was nice on paper, but I will have to back and try it on skin.
Whiskey & Cedar sounds right up my alley!
SOTD: Heeley L’Amandiere
Very pretty almond floral scent and wouldn’t mind a sizable decant of this one.
COTW: Princeton Gingersnaps — 3 different types of ginger! Really yummy and definitely 5 stars.
I had now idea their were different types of ginger
I had no not now..
autocorrect
Ground, fresh, candied?
yes! fresh ginger, ground ginger and candied ginger
Actually different forms of ginger, not types of ginger. All delicious!
I want to just put my whole face into that tea photo! Happy Mardi Gras, all. I’m sending springtime some encouragement in AG Le Chevrefeuille, and lots of it.
Yeah, I want that tea. All of it. 🙂
You smell lovely!
SOTD is Etro Ambra. It’s warm and cozy on this dreary stormy day we are having.
House siblings!
I am still catching whiffs of myself- it’s kept me cozy all day!
I am in French Kiss today…spoils from the Splitmeet!
I like it…in the vein of Lipstick Rose which I think I have an old, old sample of in the back of a jewelry drawer and may have to find to compare.
6ay!! Glad you like it
I’m sampling Les Liquides Imaginaires Peau de Bête. To me, it’s mainly a very nice fireside scent and, if I put my nose close to my wrist, some salty skin scent. It’s pleasant enough, but I’m not captivated. It might be the wrong season; should try it again in the fall.
Lot’s of ideas for weird perfumes, led by the weird Duchaufours such as Sienne l’Hiver and Timbuktu. Also SMN Nostalgia and Pot-Pourri, Etro Palais Jamais, Cartier La Treizieme Heure, and maybe Pd’E Tabac Tabou. Le Labo would be another line, and I could probably come up with an early Diptyque.
I’d also include SL Feminite du Bois. I’ll never get my head around that scent.
Great list! Had not thought of Timbuktu.
I am sampling Ella. I’m not sure how freaky it is, but I know that some find it polarizing. It is reminiscent of an 80s powerhouse scent but in a more modern way. I like it but can’t imagine spraying with abondon then headi g to work. I used two small sprays and I can still smell it easily.
My friend texted me this morning about an incident in her office. A woman wearing noticeable perfume came into her office. After she left, some of her coworkers made a big fuss about turning on a fan. Yikes! Glad I don’t work there with the fun sucking, joyless drones.
Joyless drones, indeed! Ella is pure ’70s to my nose, and I love it.
Oy. My husband had a meeting a few weeks ago and on the agenda was someone’s request that no one wear anything scented, including grooming products. He said they tabled the issue for another date. Sounds like they didn’t feel like dealing with this guy.
I was asked by a co-worker at my last job not to wear perfume. I wondered if he would still have reactions to the layers of grooming products I continued to come to work in.
Your H’s co-worker is requesting a pretty tall order. For me and lots of people that would require replacing about $1k worth of products I use daily, from shower gel/shampoo/conditioner to hair styling and finishing products, everything I use in my skincare routine, the makeup I put on over it, hand cream I apply throughout the day, etc etc etc. Then you’d have to find non-fragranced versions of all those things that actually work with your skin and hair.
Perhaps said co-worker has thousands of dollars to front everyone in this quest? Or said individual needs to work from home.
(I kind of wish I’d been in the meeting 😉 )
Don’t forget laundry soap, fabric softeners and drier sheets!
*dryer*
My friend was told to refrain from wearing scent to work as well. She is never one to over spray. Luckily, she will be retiring in June.
Actually, it wasn’t for work. It’s a special interest group that meets periodically and it was at one of their business meetings. So the guy doesn’t even spend all day with these people! He sees them periodically and at the end of the day. Agreed it’s a lot to ask.
Yeah I was asked to share a similar request to a workshop that I teach, and the classicism inherent in asking people to throw away things they use, and buy new things (often expensive, hard to obtain new things) was much more offensive than the part about scent.
Yeah, a coworker who came from a poorer country told me that gluten sensitivity(not Celiac) doesn’t exist in his country. It exists where you can afford expensive gf products. That certainly made me look at some of these more modern era issues in a new way.
There was a study years ago, that eating disorders rarely occur in lower income households. Where food was scarce.
Sounds similar to your post, Elisa P.
I don’t want to make a political statement, but living in a “3rd world country”,we have bigger problems in South Africa than people wearing too much perfume/scent-free office spaces/public places…Thank goodness for that.Africa is anyway such a goodsmelling place actually, naturally, mostly we encourage smelling good.Whether it be from coldpressed vanilla pods or a bottle of JAR Bolt of Lightning.Nothing beats the whiffs from the Rose-farm I live next to(the Diary farm is on the other side, whiffs are there, less “delicate” though, hahaha!)God,I am going to miss this place of many plans, fullmoons, misery and mystery….x
I can still smell the amazing scent of green coffee beans being roasted and ground by hand over smokey coal fires in Madagascar. Our lives in the States are so *hygienic* in comparison, and it really is a loss.
One of my co-worker’s sisters requests that she doesn’t wear any perfume or scented lotions when she comes to visit because they don’t like it. And she never over sprays. Ridiculous.
Eau d’hiver, which is only freakish if you expect perfume to smell like pretty flowers exclusively.
You smell great! I have not worn that in ages, must add to my list.
I am home with a fever today, so I sprayed myself lavishly with Bronze Goddess to help with the illusion that I am on vacation instead of home sick.
Yuck. Hope you feel better!
Thanks! I have already put in for a sub tomorrow. *fingers crossed* it helps me get over the crud and move on quickly!
Hope you’re feeling better soon, and enjoy that BG.
I think the elevated body temperature really helps with the sillage!
You picked the right fragrance for that! 🙂
Hope you get to feeling better really soon.
I can almost hear the seagulls in the distance . . . 😉
Feel better!BG might help a bit,yeah!
Thank you! Post-shower, I decided for a double-dose–body cream followed by a fresh spritzing. Surely all I need to be on vacation (like you, lucky dog!).
Hope you feel better soon! In the meantime, get lots of rest during your ‘vacation’. ????
Vive l’illusion! Hope you feel better soon.
Rochas Femme- alas, not the vintage version, so I would hardly call it freaky. It might have been a leeeetle too much for the office, but I love it and it’s making me happy, so I’m shrugging it off.
You smell great!
You smell fantastic. I’d love to smell vintage some day, but I don’t want to risk becoming disappointed with the current version!
I’m wearing Lonestar Memories today. I don’t think it’s freaky at all, but my students think it’s bonkers.
Haha! Yes, LM is the sort of scent that seems normal enough to perfumistas but is actually pretty far from the mainstream! I think leathers in general are tough for folks to get their heads around, and LM has a bit of that campfire/cured jerky thing to it. . .
Ya, my H put some on the other night and I felt like I was standing in line for some BBQ for a minute. lol
I’m going to a fire conference next week and thinking of wearing Lonestar Memories.
Wearing No. 19 edp for meeting with financial advisors, for a long-term planning session. Yoicks.
Good luck!
Fat Tuesday, wooooo!
SOTD is Louis Vuitton Turbulences. I’m very leathery and jasmine-y at the moment.
I had a laugh this morning when an anchor on the Weather Channel was discussing the conditions in Northern/Central AZ. There was a flood warning in Yavapai County. She was like, “I’m not even going to try to say that; I don’t want to make people mad.” Good thing she didn’t have to try to pronounce any Hopi place names. ????
Is it Yah-vah-PIE?
Yep. (Stress on the first syllable, though.) It’s not too difficult, right? It was funny that she wouldn’t even try. I mean, heck, she no doubt regularly manages words like “Massapequa” or “Susquehannock”…????
Dame Perfumery Desert Rose.Day 0 of leave.Yay!x
Oh, happy day! Enjoy your time off. 😉
You and Desert Rose smell gorgeous.
Enjoy your vacation!
You smell great!
SOTD is Mirus December Kiss. Not freaky; just warm and cozy – sandalwood, incense, leather, amber, with a touch of citrus and rose; all very mild.
I keep going back and forth on this one 😉
SJP Lovely, because it smells like pretty skin, and fragrances aren’t allowed in my workplace anymore, soooooo…. need to fly below the radar. (Lotions are okay, so is hairspray, clothing softener, and cigarette smoke)
Good luck staying under the radar 🙂
Thanks! I don’t want to give up my daily fix.
Not fair that folks can waft around their post- cigarette break fumes but my Chanel gets the boot.
Still cranky, ha!
I feel your pain, I’m in the same type of office environment. Seriously, the lingering smoke on clothes! Can you not smell THAT? I even had someone invade my personal space and sniff my hair; and she used to smoke. I asked to be moved to a new spot.
ooooh, that makes me sad 🙁
Years ago I worked at a company where the CEO smoked cigars all day long. Many employees happily smoked at their desks. I wore LOTS of Oscar and Rive Gauche back then. At home I had two clothes closets. One for smoky work clothes and shoes then another for everything else. My dry cleaning bill was huge. Times have certainly changed, but some things go too far.
My SOTD is SSS Fig Tree. 5 hours in and still going strong… love the longevity of SSS!
Love that one!
SOTD – Masque Milano Russian Tea. Def not a FB for me
Agreed. Didn’t do anything new for me.
SOTD – Prada Les Infusions Mimosa which bloomed beautifully in the heat but was a little overblown for the office. Mental note – underspray this one next time.
Thank you for the tip! I’ll be cautious when I start using my small decant (and it’ll last me longer 🙂 ).
SL Fille en Aiguilles for me today.
You smee great!
SotD = Ambre Narguile, perfectly comfy on a cold, crisp, sunny day.
NSTers, you smell marvelous. Hope everyone had a terrific Tuesday.
So late to the party today…wearing the super-freaky Feu d’Issey. I’m so glad to have gotten a chance to try it but wow this is a strange brew.
Not exactly a freak flag scent today. Cuir Pleine Fleur from Heeley, cause I just finally got a sample. I freaking love it!
I love that one too. I’m surprised that it isn’t mentioned more often. You smell lovely!
So late as usual, but I’m finishing up a month of roses in the wonderful Rose Musk from Pirouette Essentials, a Seattle-based brand. It is a really rich, deep rose with ambery resinous base notes. It is in the vein of Providence Perfume Co. Rose Boheme, Ava Luxe Roses, and DSH Inner Sanctum. I also recommend their Jasmine Musk for jasmine lovers. It is lovely. I still haven’t figured out a perfume that is both freaky and work appropriate for Friday…
Woo hoo! I managed to wear a different rose fragrance everyday in February! Today’s is Lucas’ favorite —
SOTD = Atelier Rose Anonyme
Spicy Rose Oud and I think I have remnants of Tauer Incense Rose despite having taken a shower.
Work is busy busy busy with barely any time for lunch. When I got home, I had one call and then another call coming up shortly. I have to DVR the POTUS address to congress so as not to miss anything!
I am psyching myself up tonight to make sure I say rabbit rabbit rabbit first thing tomorrow.
Congrats on your month of roses. I’ve enjoyed watching from the sidelines.
oh! and thanks for the reminder that tomorrow is already a new month. 😉
Thank you for the reminder! 🙂
And now I need to go and see, who’s getting chocolate in my draw for the Month of Roses (you still have a couple of hours to get more entries 😉 ).
Today I wore Guerlain Vega because I remembered I have somewhat old (10 years+?) bottles of it and Sous le Vent, which I wore yesterday. They’re both pretty nice, but I preferred the latter. Vega is sort of generic aldehydes + florals. Even so, I’m glad to own a bottle. I’m still trying to think of anything I own that’s weird. Does MKK count as weird? I have a decant of it somewhere… usually too afraid to wear it anywhere.
