The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 17 February 2017 11 Comments

I am waiting impatiently for Lush's new Wash Behind Your Ears to arrive in the US. "You’ll want every inch of your body to smell as addictively fresh and familiar as this jasmine and rose gel - even your ears! So lavish your skin in a bouquet of floral fragrance and be uplifted by notes of neroli, while conditioning organic sunflower oil leaves skin feeling soft and sunny." It also has "fresh carrot infusion" and "gardenia extract". Currently listed as "coming soon" at Lush UK.

I’m a big fan of Lush shower gels…this sounds very much like the discontinued (why?!) and much beloved Flying Fox – wonder if it will be similar? Maybe that’s why they’re saying the scent is “familiar”? I have noticed over the years that they sometimes discontinue a scent only to create one that smells nearly the same under a different moniker. Now if only they would bring back Tramp, my all-time favorite…

I don’t know — it doesn’t sound like it to me other than the jasmine, but you could be right and I could be wrong! Flying Fox was recently in the UK Lush Kitchen, so worth keeping an eye out there if you want some.

Let’s hope it lives up to it. And that the US does not wait forever…

If this is a bitter orange scent, yep!

Flying Fox was similar to Lush Lust perfume, if that helps — STRONG, very sweet jasmine. I did not love the perfume but I did love the shower gel.

I’ve just received my small bottle of this gel and immediately tested it by washing my hands with it.
It’s does not smell like Flying Fox at all to me. Actually, so far I have not detected any jasmine. To me, it predominantly smells of rose, but it does not remind me of any rose scent I know. It’s like they took rose stem, leaves and a relatively small amount of petals and crushed them. And yes, there is something carroty in this fragrance as well. Generally, I’d say it’s a fresh floral vegetal scent, slightly bitter. Not sure yet whether I like it, but it may grow on me – I keep smelling my hands and the bottle. There is something addicting in it.
This is just a first impression though. Maybe one day in a shower, with my bottle nearly empty, I will suddenly get some jasmine from this gel. It happens.
And though the label says “shower gel”, it has a look and thickness of a shower cream. Seems to lather pretty well though.

I just came on here to check what everyone thought, bought some yesterday (in South Africa). It is very very similar to, not Flying Fox (sadly!), but Lush’s Prince Charming, with something very vaguely carroty added. Nice, but where’s the jasmine? It must be the geranium reminding me of Prince Charming, not really any other links between the two. Better texture than Prince Charming; I don’t much like the ‘shower cream’ texture.
