The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 10 February 2017 11 Comments

From Lisa E Moss, A Bitter Pill Filled With Love: "Exquisite and delicate, this handmade pendant necklace is comprised of a striking sterling silver capsule that contains a fragrant secret. Inside, a hand blown 0.5ml glass flacon houses a precious quantity of pure rose essential oil. Extracted from the highly prized Rosa Damascena, this oil gives a rich, luxurious scent that serves to rejuvenate the mind and reawaken the senses." £250 at Rouillier White.

I don’t understand; how accessible is the scent? Is it in a diffuser-type container that will permit you to smell it whenever it’s around your neck? In that case, does it come in a protective case that locks the scent in when you’re not wearing it? Or is this a heat-activated device? Or is it a spray or dab mechanism, and does the “pill” come apart? Why is it important that the flacon be hand-blown? (And for that matter, “hand-blown” seems like an odd phrase, given that the hand is not what is doing the blowing.) Maybe I’m missing something, but this seems a bit Prix Eaux Faux-y to me :)

It appears to be a small bottle of fragrance inside a pill shaped pendant, and yes, the pill comes apart. From what I can see, you open the pill, take out the glass bottle, apply fragrance, put it away. You can see a picture of the glass bottle here:

‘Hand blown’ doesn’t sound quite so impressive when it’s applied to a 0.5ml capsule.

You guys are way more focused on the ad copy than I was. I could care less if the bottle is hand blown — I liked the name and the pendant and the concept :-)

But also, now that you’re making me focus on the ad copy, “precious quantity” is really the part that makes me laugh.

    I like this feature, Robin.
After my fiasco trying to purchase Chanel “Coffret”, I feel virtuous viewing luxury items I have no interest in purchasing.
    But I like looking ! LOL ;)
Plus, this is a great song:
