It's Hump Day! The week is flying by, and there are 24 days remaining in the year. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm continuing my week of 2016 purchases with Lush Kerbside Violet.
Reminder: 12/9 will be Best Buy Friday — wear your favorite fragrance purchase of 2016. If you didn't buy anything this year, pick a favorite from a prior year.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Went with Biche Dans L’Absinthe today, my sample is almost gone… 🙁
Still holding out hope she’ll resurrect her line one day!
Not sure if anyone else has reported this or is having the same issue, but the screen is rearranged now, the advertisements are on the left and the blog is on the right. I’ve tried from different browsers on different machines, so pretty sure it isn’t a local problem.
Just wanted to let you know things may look different, not sure if this was intentional or not.
I’m seeing that, too, girardEAU. Worse yet, what used to be merely a sidebar on the right is now a left-hand column of equal width to the blog posts.
In order to get rid of the distractions on the left, I’ve zoomed the screen so that the blog post fills the entire width.
Yes, had some WordPress trouble, sorry about that.
It should be fixed now — clear your browser cache (in Windows, you can press CTRL + F5) and you will see a fixed screen.
All back to normal now, thanks! 🙂
Had a good vacation day yesterday, went to café Lalo on the Westside, and stop by Sephora and tried Tom Ford’s orchid Soliel. It was very nice! I’ve still yet to try Shanghai Lily, The only other TF on my to try list.
Today I am in a bottle that I bought this year, Gurlain’s Limon Verde from the AA line.
Tea is The Tibet by MF
Confession: almost bought several YSL vinyl lip glosses yesterday , but the line was too long so I put them back
Sounds like a lovely day!
I love the YSL lip glosses too, I splurged on ‘carmin session’ in the autumn, it’s a lovely everyday plum colour.
That sounds like a very fun day.
Too bad you didn’t get the lip glosses, but maybe that was for the better?
I, unfortunately, am allergic to them. I bought one a couple years ago and it made my lips get all itchy and rashy. Most lip glosses do that too me nowadays.
OH no! Sorry to hear that! They are expensive
Money saved I’d say…
That’s very true!
I have similar trouble, and have found that I can’t tolerate most sunscreens in lip products, and also can’t tolerate the mica they put in to make the gloss shimmery. It happens with eye shadows too (the mica thing, not the sunscreen thing).
I found that some eyeshadows that are very shimmery make my eyelids irritated. I thought it may be the mica. I have found that Shiseido shimmery cream color doesn’t irritate but its expensive. Its a trial for me. Most of the time I go bare with my lids and use a eye pencil
Oh goodness, you have my sympathy. It’s not easy when allergic to many common ingredients found in make up and SPF is definitely becoming more prevalent.
I generally stay far away from shimmery eye make up. I know that’s boring since it limits me to mattes, which can be very hard to find these days! However, I prefer a very subtle look so I’m generally ok staying away from mica.
I’ve tried several glosses – YSL and the Coco Rouge Lip Shine (or whatever they are called these days – by Chanel) and both have set me off.
When you’re as old as I am, shimmery eye shadows are just not advisable – they just make all the folds and wrinkles more noticeable! 🙂 Matte eye shadows ARE hard to find though – why is that?? Laura Mercier makes some very nice ones, but other than that it seems everyone wants shimmer. On lip colors, the glosses are all problematic for me, but if I stick with Bobbi Brown lipstick and apply it on top of a coat of Paula’s Choice Lip and Body Balm (best stuff in the world for chapped lips, imho), it kind of mimics lip gloss and I don’t get the rash-y little red bumps.
I think it was fate telling me to hurry up and meet my girlfriend at the cafe! <3
I’m wearing Hanae Mori over Fresh Cream. *Sigh of contentment*
Sounds wonderful. I still have some HM body cream, I’m going to try layering it with Fresh Cream now.
SotD: Guerlain AA Winter Delice–piney incense with a bit of sugar and vanilla–it smells like an expensive spa at a ski resort.
I haven’t looked up from emails to start my tea yet.
Oh, the idea of emails before tea is making me most unhappy! Kettle on first, everything else later 😉
House Cousins
And I agree with Robin. My husband knows my routine. Hot water on first and then life can begin.
Joining you in Winter Delice today (one of my holiday favorites); I get piney incense and a bit of gingerbread. Hope you enjoyed your tea – I do absolutely nothing in the morning before two cups of coffee!
Nothing happens here before tea.
My SOTD is Ostara, one of my best buys this year. It’s lovely and makes me long for spring. Tea is Earl Grey Fleurs by Damman Frères.
Beautiful, one of my best buys of the year too, u smell wonderful.
Thanks! It’s a great, great scent.
I’m checking in from Orlando , Florida on my last full day of vacation.
I’m wearing Chanel No. 19 EDT .
You smell divine!
SOTD is Safran Troublant. Beautiful, comforting and easy to wear for a crazy, busy day at work. End of the year so we are running to meet deadlines…
You smell lovely today!
Yum! 🙂
Such a great scent!
I’m wearing Sud Magnolia, not really appropriate for the season, but one of my favorites this year.
As good a reason as any 😉
Another cold, wer day in New England. I am wearing Chergui which is one of my best buys of 2016. It’s hard to believe that I didn’t like Chergui the first rime I sampled it. I’m so glad that I held onto my sample and tried again this fall.
I didn’t really like it that much at first either, a real grower on me too, u smell really cosy!
???? Thanks!
Sometimes it hits the spot, and other times it seems too powdery.
Chergui is also one of my favorites bought this year. I really love it!
Chergui! Scrimping makes it smell like bug spray. Spraying lavishly is the way to go!
Sampling L’Attessa today. It is working well with the rain.
Went to Oleana,a fabulous restaurant, last night and one of the meze had smoked honey on the plate. It was so delicious that we asked for extra honey and now my guy is going to ask his coworker who has smoker to make him some.
Mmm, that sounds wonderful!
Smoked honey sounds amazing. Imagine how good that would be in a tea! (This coming from a huge lapsang souchong fan.)
yum
Another easy way to make smoky honey is with Lapsang Souchong tea – pour 1 cup honey over 3 Tbsp lapsang souchong tea leaves, seal and store in a dark place for 12 days, then strain the honey. I have made it and it’s delicious! The recommend use is to drizzle the smoky honey over fig, arugula, and parmesan on toast. It is from the cookbook Steeped, which I would highly recommend it you like cooking with tea 🙂
Ooh that sounds amazing!, making a note of that book.
Thank you for that idea! I’ll definitely try it. It sounds amazing.
That’s probably my favorite of 2016! Oleana is great too.
I’m wearing Mohur extrait – one of my favourite new bottles this year, but I didn’t buy it (it was a gift).
A gift is even better and you smell beautiful!
Some day I will find out what the fuss is about regarding Mohur. It seems to be something a signature for you. Not entirely, of course, because Chanel ;). Hope you are feeling better.
I feel a bit guilty that I’m just wearing Mohur as a comfort scent. It’s almost in the same catogory as Lumiere Blanche for me – so easy to wear, such a lovely “texture”. I mostly smell a creamy, softly spicy rose and gentle woods – even as an extrait, it’s quite faint to my nose and I’m sure I’m missing many nuances. But it’s very nice even with my limited smelling capacity.
That sounds so nice!
Mohur is such a beauty!
Oh another great one for 2016! I also received it as a gift. You smell lovely.
Amouage Journey woman, one of my all time favourites, I’ve nearly finished my sample, hopefully I will receive a bottle for my birthday next year.
Tea of the Day is a Ceylon orange pekoe, from The Proper Tea Company, based here in East Sussex.
I’m also burning a local soy Christmas spice candle, which smells lovely, but has a weird piece of flat wood as a burner instead of a wick, which I’ve decided I don’t like. Still, the price, at £6.50 was quite reasonable.
You smell fantastic.
Thanks!
Love Journey..I have a full bottle and don’t regret it. Not to enable you or anything… 😉
Heehee, I think I definitely need a bottle.
My SIL really loves those wood wick candles, but I find that the ones I’ve bought don’t burn evenly.
I don’t think they do either, and they create a lot of smoke.
mayfly, don’t know if you’ll find the same thing in the UK, but I looked up Journey recently on U.S. discount sites and saw amazing price cuts. Don’t wait too long! Aside from the price, you might not like a newer formulation as much.
Thanks knozknoz, I will look up- is the new formulation weaker? (oh no!).
I don’t know about Journey specifically. Other perfumes that I’ve followed over many years, such as Guerlain Vetiver, Habanita, J’Adore, and Femme, have changed significantly over time. IFRA and accountants keep tightening the screws.
Journey is my Number 1 best buy of 2016 ( with apologies to Poison Girl …. which is still sulking about her vacation to the thrift shop ). I am really keen to try Bracken Woman one day as bracken is such a beautiful scent)
That reminder of how many days are left made me panic, look at the date, panic more, then order a bunch of stuff on amazon instantly. Xmas shopping list is 95% done now. 🙂
I totally forgot to put scent on today 🙁
I’m not motivated to shop this year either but at least you are mostly done.
Most of my family live far away and we don’t do gifts unless everyone is together, so it’s just my husband and his family to buy for this year.
No motivation here either………
gift cards will be what friends and loved ones receive from me this year.
I did all of mine on Amazon. I went to one store I think for wrapping paper.
There’s something oddly satisfying about doing shopping online and knowing it’ll all (hopefully) show up and I didn’t have to lose my mind in a mall. 🙂 Some people totally get into the shopping experience, but more often than not I want to scream.
I slammed Amazon over the past three days too, and I’m about 80% done. (I was skeptical about Prime a few years ago, but I’ve decided it’s totally worth the investment, as much as I buy with Amazon.)
Same here! A membership was on sale recently so my husband and I got it then.
Do you use their streaming feature? I find myself more and more opting for watching something there than on TV (I should probably cancel my cable TV…)
There are some treasures to watch on Amazon’s streaming service. I just stumbled upon the 5 episodes of a series called Prime Japan. The titles are Ramen, Ryokan, Sushi, Design, and Made in Japan. Much of the audio is in Japanese with subtitles. Very relaxing listening, and easy on the eyes, too.
I am wearing one of my best purchases of the year, vintage Mitsouko extrait.
gosh you smell incredible! what a wonderful purchase 🙂
OMG! I am so envious. LOVE Mitsouko in any formulation but I really want to try the extrait.
Wow, I bet that smells fabulous!
SOTD is a favorite from a prior year, Hermes 24 Faubourg.
You smell great. I don’t own any yet but liked it when I tested it.
Wearing a 2016 purchase, ELDO Putain des Palaces, which I bought in January. If only other perfumes lines were as affordable as ELDO! I don’t get anything dirty from this perfume. On me it’s a cosmetic rose/violet plus a plush rice powder note. Kind of sweet, very wearable. Love it in the winter.
I don’t find it very naughty, either.
A favourite of 2016, and a prize to boot (thanks NST!!), SOTD is the lovely NV Pichola.
Oh, you smell fantastic!
You smell amazing!
I’m in one of my favorite buys, and great deals, this year: Barbara Bui le Parfum. Warm and toasty on this cold, grey day.
It is so gray today
You smell great today! I have a sample of Barbara Bui coming soon.
Thank you! And now they have large 30ml samples for $18 on Amazon. Grrr.
LOL, maybe get a BUB so you don’t feel like you missed out?
I love Le Parfum, it’s my favorite winter ‘sleep’ scent.
Due to an approaching snow storm, I am in the mist of an anxiety attack. I was to overwhelmed to pick a perfume this morning. I ended up grabbing Salvatore Ferragamo Emozione. It’s nice and unobtrusive. I also am wearing Josie Maran vanilla hand cream. It’s a little pricey, but the best hand cream I’ve found.
Don’t Panic!
And you smell wonderful!
🙂
Thank you!
Deep breaths and comforting perfumes. Hope it’s nothing major.
it’s so miserable out, stormy and rainy and dark, so I put on Ninfeo Mio to remember happier days. I like it just fine in the cold too. I just love fig scents, especially ones with less coconut!!
You smell great!!
Wasn’t this scent discontinued? I remember writing it down a while back because there were so many good comments about it and I wanted to try it. I love fig fragrances, so I wanted to try it. Does anyone know if it is still available, and if so, where can I find it?
Parley, I know that you smell amazing!
I bought a FB in the AG shop in Paris this Summer. Of course, it may have been re-formulated…
Wednesday!
1) So cold outside, and everything is covered in frost. It looks lovely, but brrr! I will be doing a quick 3 mile run outside tonight- all to indulge in the steam bath after!
2) Am in Jo Malone’s Velvet Rose and Oud- which seems perfect for the chilly weather.
3) Breakfast is a cup of steel cut oatmeal with cream and raisins and a big mug of hot, strong builder’s tea with almond milk.
Everything about your day sounds perfect. Frost, running, oud and oats! Man, I love oats. And I love the smell of oats. Go well today!
Thank you! Oats and tea are a go to in the winter, and especially if I am running/weightlifting- it’s terrific fuel.
As a fellow runner – I salute you for running in cold weather! A hot bath afterwards always makes it SO worth the effort. I would totally be out there too BUT I’ve developed Achilles tendinitis so I’m on rest for the winter months (but still doing strength training).
Your breakfast sounds very good and even though it’s healthy it also seems comfort food-y.
Oh today is gonna be good. It’s clear and very cold, so the run should good and fast today. My gym has one of those steam rooms, so after I will spend some quality time there and stretch a bit! When I get home I should sleep soundly!
That all sounds perfect! I was intimidated about running in winter for the first time up in Montreal, but I saw everyone else doing it, so I figured it must be possible. After getting the right equipment, I was so proud of myself for getting out there, even at -20C. Good for you!
A little warmer today than yesterday, and certainly drier! (Shalimar Light was really good in yesterday’s cold rain, but I really should find a new home for that unopened backup bottle – I still like it, but it’s taken me 7 years to knock down this 75ml bottle to half full, and I have all that vintage Emeraude anyway…)
Today is delicious SSS Tabac Aurea.
My home is open to Shalimar
I realized I have one 2016 purchase that is very special: ERIS Parfums Ma Bête. I also like one of the other ERIS Parfums very much; I forget whether it was Belle de Jour or Night Flower.
http://www.yesterdaysperfume.com/yesterdays_perfume/2016/03/introducing-eris-parfums-belle-de-jour-night-flower-and-ma-b%C3%AAte.html
The line was founded by Barbara Herman, founder of the blog Yesterday’s Perfume and author of Scent and Subversion. I got to meet her and try the whole line at a trunk show hosted by Arielle Shoshana. Luckyscent carries the line and has samples.
FYI – this is interesting for tea lovers:
http://theselby.com/galleries/david-lee-hoffman-and-bee-ratchanee-chaikamwung-at-home-in-lagunitas-california/
(I love The Selby and tend to forget to check it.)
Here’s an article about the place:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/23/us/in-lagunitas-calif-a-fight-over-worms-and-moats.html
Same here. And I used to live in Lagunitas! Odd little place, but we could watch salmon spawning from our bedroom window.
Isabella, not many people can say that about their bedrooms! What an interesting place that sounds like.
Nice! My brother lives in Lake Oswego, OR and his house faces a river on the salmon spawning route.
Will come back to read and comment later, only have time to spritz and run right now – Rose Barbare from a generous NSTer. Smells great!
That has burned off, switching to Velvet Rose & Oud for the evening.
I wonder how many of us wear more than one a day? I’m sometimes on my 3rd by now.
I wonder how many of us wear more than one scent a day, too. I never mind when my first scent fades enough that I can wear a 2nd or 3rd scent in one day.
Histoires de Parfums Rosam for me today
Good morning Y’all! Christmas shopping (online!) in between jobs at work….that’s the way to knock out some gifts with less stress!
Still have to go to Walmart at lunch, for some gift wrap and other little things….Wish me luck! LOL I find that midday shopping is better than fighting the after work crowds in the evening, when my energy level is low and my patience is lower….. 🙂
SOTD: Bvlgari Black. Definitely a top contender for my fave purchase this year!!
I try to avoid Wal-mart between 3:45 (after first shift at the Volvo truck plant lets out) and 6 pm. But it’s a small town, so whenever I go there I’m bound to see at least four people I know.
Walmart was sooooo busy. UGH! LOL! Glad to get my stuff and get outta there! 🙂
In Houston, Walmart (which a lot of them stay open 24 hours) is always busy no matter what time you go there. And, they never have enough checkers. I am a Target type of gal. I usually only go to Walmart if Target doesn’t have what I need. So, God bless you strong-willed individuals who fight the crowds and long lines at Walmart. I just don’t have the patience.
Where I live, there are more crowds and much longer lines at Target than at Walmart, but the lines at Target still move faster. Not a Walmart fan, but that might be because our store is so woefully understaffed.
I’m a Tar-zhay gal, too. Wal-mart, not so much.
Looove bvlgari black too. Thinking of buyung a second backup, sincw it is discontinued and i know it’s a lifelong wearer.
Anyway, you smell great!
Scent twin! I wear it today as well.
You smell wonderful!
Bvlgari Black is one of my favorite purchases of the year as well. Can’t believe I waited this long to try it out!
Bvlgari Black is on my Top Ten favorites.
It was wonderful having a day off yesterday after working 8 days straight. I forgot to post that I was bathed in Amouage Epic yesterday. Now it’s back to work today and hopefully get some groceries for tomorrow and Friday so I can beat the snow. I am wearing Beloved today and loving it.
You smell wonderful.
I’m in Black Cashmere again today, because it was just so wonderful to wear yesterday. Like Shalimar, I always feel like I’m doing others a favor by wearing it — here’s hoping folks in today’s staff meeting agree!
Who could dislike BC? It’s a near perfect composition, in my opinion.
I’m very much enjoying the big decant of Black Cashmere that You so kindly gave me 🙂
Hmmm. I have a mini of that. Maybe I will wear it tonight. 🙂
I’m in another favorite purchase of 2016, Cristalle EDT. I love having a bottle that I can spray lavishly. Also, I don’t think there is a wrong time for this scent. It’s so versatile. Another day in the 30s and Cristalle holds up well.
One of my all time favorites. I wish they still made the body products.
A old buy for me today, the label is the Iris taizo one…
You smell great! Iris Oriental (formerly known as Iris Taizo) is on my to buy list. Enabler pin goes to Clarissa!
Wearing L’Ombre dans L’Eau from the Diptyque discovery set I just got last week. This set may well turn out to be my favorite purchase of 2016! Most of the scents skew a bit summer-y, but I couldn’t resist testing them, of course – it turns out L’Ombre is perfect for the not-really-winter here in the desert.
I love L’Ombre! You smell fabulous, and I should think it would be a perfect foil for what I imagine your climate must be.
Morning, all. Woke to a rainy, steaming morning, with a low, brooding sky. I thought beautiful Bel Respiro might counter the gloom, but it isn’t quite hefty enough. Should have chosen Fate, I think, but never mind. I smell lovely and Fate will still be here tomorrow. Apparently it’s going to rain then too.
I went to Smith and Caughey yesterday to buy a gift for a colleague and met a stranger who was trying Galop (it continues to enchant me, by the way). He mentioned Luca Turin’s blog, knew NST, named Christine Nagel as the perfumer at Hermes, discussed the saffron-rose-leather notes in Galop….it stands to reason that there had to be more perfumistas in A-NZ than Angelique, Gaynor, Kanuka, Morgan and me., and here is one (that’s ungrammatical, but you see what I mean). Dear Unknown Perfumista, if you’re lurking, do de-cloak. I’d love to hear if you succumbed to the deliciousness of Galop or went with L’Envol!
And sorry, I realise that applied to you, “perfumista” should be “perfumisto”. Or something. Help! What would be the correct masculine form of “perfumista”? If it were Latin, we could go with “perfumistus”, I suppose, but that sounds deeply wrong to my ear.
Perfumister
Ha!
Perfick!
????
Have you tried L’Envol? And who is that scented man? Send him to Dunedin!
Not on my skin — too busy flirting with Galop. Next week.
Don’t have a clue who the mystery perfumister is, but he cheered up my lunch time!
It’s perfumista – it’s a Greek neuter root, not a Latin feminine. ;^)
Chanel Coco EDP, current version. A 2016 first time purchase, and a trip down memory lane. I loved it from the moment it launched in the 80s, but it became the signature scent of several close friends, so I felt I had to pass. But 32 years later, Coco’s loss of ubiquity is a win for me. Patience rewarded.
Now that I’m in my 50’s, I am very aware that my “quirky old lady tastes” which were charming in my 20’s and 30’s are now just plain old lady and need a bit of a rethink. But I’ve decided not to care when it comes to scent, fruity pink juices be damned.
You smell lovely. That’s the fragrance I meant to put on today, but completely forgot.
You smell truly wondeful.
I’m freezing here in Portland despite wearing my new fleece-lined flannel shirt, so I put on a good amount of Une Rose Chypree to warm up. I have to go back to Costco today because I forgot to have my ink cartridges refilled and I’m not looking forward to the trip. Maybe I will treat myself to something decadent from the bakery.
I bought a couple of fleece lined flannels at Costco….and I wear them nearly everyday! With my cowgirl boots, I look like I’m about to herd calves instead of do pharmacy stuff…..hee hee
A trip to the bakery there is never disappointing! 🙂
You smell fabulous, hope you got yourself a bakery treat!
Costco sheet cake is my kryptonite. Yummy.
I’m wearing Byredo’s 1996..perfect for this time of the year and the cold weather 🙂
Yes it is!
I have had such a happy and exciting perfume year in 2016. All of my purchases have given me so much pleasure . Most of my purchases were blind buys and that adds a certain frisson ….Musc Nomade and L’ Ambre Extreme and Al Oudh. Love them . Monsieur Li. Even Poison Girl makes me laugh when I think about how I ended up with a leopard skin coat. So…what fun! Wearing BE LOVED today from a sample. It’s not too bad, eh? Three friends are coming to stay tonight and I’m putting up a tent in the garden ….for me. Seriously. They are all such chatter boxes that I will take my dogs, ipad ( best invention for camping as you don’t need a torch) sleeping bags, flask of coffee and Journey with me and go and listen to the hedgehogs and the morepork. Bliss.
A tent in the garden! That’s hilarious!
You have a personal morepork? Utter jealousy here!
You smell gorgeous! I’m hoarding my Beloved sample. …I had to look up what a morepork is. I am extraordinarily lucky to have a pair of great horned owls (siblings born this Spring) that live mostly in my backyard. Oh my, I actually hear one of them right now! Seriously! Well, he’s clearly sending North American feathered greetings to you and your morepork. Have a lovely time in the garden tent!
Morepork! what a wonderful word. ‘(OvO)’
Binge wearing Kenzo Kashaya.
You are loving that Kenzo, aren’t you?
Can’t get enough! Funny thing, because I used to hate it, and now it’s golden apricoty heaven.
Wearing a fave from 2015, Misia. Am hoping I am gifted the giant bottle of the EDT I found online as I fear the EDP is not the same. Boo.
The edp is Not the same, edt is better. Hope you get it!
In Philosykos, one of my two best buys of the year. I bought it at a bleak time when I desperately needed comfort, and every time I wear it I feel calmer, slightly more balanced, and reminded of the good things in life. I love this stuff.
Fig fragrances do that for me as well. Philosykos is a very comforting and soothing scent. Nice choice.
Still one of my most worn scents in the evenings when I want to relax 🙂
Petite rien. It’s getting swallowed up by the “unscented” cream I put on under, as it is for real (as opposed to “for Vancouver”) cold out today. I might put an extra spritz on my shirt, but it’s a writing day with a colleague and I don’t want to offend…
Stay warm everybody! 🙂
Caron”s Parfum Sacré for me today. I find it very peppery, and I think that will help me wake up properly on a dull morning.
Serge Lutens ISM (best buy of the year) on one wrist, Frederic Malle Iris Poudre (sample) on the other. ISM wins for me, no contest 😀 I find Iris Poudre too soapy.
Did you dab or spray Iris Poudre?
I dabbed it on my wrist. I sprayed it on paper at a counter before, and had more or less the same impression. Do you have a preferred method?
IP never worked for me either.
I keep thinking that ‘this time I will like it’ but so far it hasn’t happened 🙂
In L’Occitane Immortelle de Corse, thanks to the generous Hajusuuri. It’s a perfect fit for today’s sunny and cool weather.
Yay! In answer to your question yesterday, the L’AP samples that came in the puff format was not from a magazine. IIRC, I got them from Henri Bendel.
Ah, OK. I think they’re a fun form of sample. It would be cool if they could be made to be recyclable or biodegradable!
Le Labo Iris 39 today. Discovery sets are fun 🙂
My first Le Labo purchase and still a favorite!
Happy “Hump Day” Everyone! Today was my first day at physical therapy and boy-oh-boy! I hurt sooooo bad, but I know its all worth it. The best thing was that I was able to get my same physical therapists that I had 2 years ago from my other leg.
My SOTD is Tardes by Carner Barcelona. This is my first time wearing a scent from this perfumer. This perfume is described as being “peaceful and harmonious” and indeed it is. I definitely get the almond, rose, and plum notes. Perfect scent for the holidays. 🙂
Good luck with the PT! I really like Tardes. I keep going back and forth about a FB with that one. You smell lovely!
SOTD has been Ex Idolo “Ryder”, which I have enjoyed a lot in the few moments peace I’ve had on a second very long, very intense day. Notes are: tobacco, jasmine, amber, resins, woodsy notes, olibanum and vanilla.
Great choice!
I can’t believe how cold it is in the office today! I know that it usually takes about 24 hours for the office AC/Heating system to adjust for the cooler/warmer weather, and tomorrow it should be back to normal but I’m worried if I even capable of drinking the amount of tea necessary to maintain my body temperature in a “workable” condition?
Bvlgari Black, which I wear because of the SOTD comments from the recent couple of days, helps to keep my spirit up though.
It’s very hot in the office in the morning so I have a mini fan to cool things down for the first hour. The heat could also be that I normally would just have power-walked 1.3 miles all cozy in my coat!
SotE = Eau de Guerlain which I hope energizes me for the evening. It smells deliciously like lemon drop candies at the moment. I must be hungry.
I was unscented this morning as I went to the dentist for a cleaning. The hygienist caught me sniffing perfume scent strips in Vanity Fair magazine as I waited in the lobby. I liked one of the scents but can’t remember what it was. Not the Burberry. The Prada? It shall remain a mystery. Oh well.
Ha! “caught me sniffing perfume strips”! Before I fell into the rabbit hole, the magazines used to overwhelm me with waves of perfumey perfume strips that I asked to get the version without any scented strips.
I like to hope the perfume strips are getting better. When they were new they were awful, Giorgio-cough-Giorgio, I would rip them out of magazines and throw them in the garbage bin outside the house. Gah.
Once I left one on the floor and our male cat hissed and backed away from it while the female cat tried very delicately yet determinedly to cover up the offending smell, as if it belonged in the kitty litter box. Ahem.
And thanks to Isabella’s comment above about Black Cashmere I remembered the scent strip I liked was Cashmere Mist! A surprise because I’ve not liked it when sniffed from the bottle. Must try on a wrist or perhaps I should look for a lotion.
SOTD = Chanel No. 22 EDT
It is one of my best buys in 2016. I just made it before everything switched to EDP. I have not yet tried the EDP. I only wore 2 spritzes but could probably go up by one more.
No. 22 is unmistakably a Chanel, sharing DNA with No. 5 (hello aldehydes!). If I were to recreate this, I would start with a bit of de-violeted Guerlain L’Heure Bleue, a healthy dose of No. 5 and topped off with a spritz of 31RC.
I have a new “toy”! My Jo Loves Discovery Set arrived today! 9 atomizer samples (they look just like the Jo Malone samples) and a certificate for a 50 mL bottle. It is easy to redeem (via phone, online or in-person) and shipping is free! A huge thanks to pixel for mentioning that the website with service to the U.S. is up and running although the Discovery Sets were out of stock then.
I’m making jealous eyes at your new toy, which looks to be back in stock over at Jo Loves, and wondering which FB will you choose? Inquiring minds want to know. 🙂
