It's Monday, and it's World Soil Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in good old Terre d'Hermès.
Reminder: 12/9 will be Best Buy Friday — wear your favorite fragrance purchase of 2016. If you didn't buy anything this year, pick a favorite from a prior year.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

L’Homme Sage (Divine). I really should wear this more often! 🙂
Yes you should. Wish I had a bottle.
I have a decant, enough to last me several more years. This is powerful stuff, it is definitely suited to winter weather, at least for me.
A (relatively) old favorite today, Hilary Duff With Love. Sadly, the top notes have gone a bit off. Wearing a celeb perfume made me remember an even better celeb perfume, Kate Walsh Boyfriend, which I really should have bought when I still had the chance. 🙁
That was a good one! Wish she’d done more, she had better taste than many in the celeb market.
Sarah Jessica Parker’s Stash is a good celebrity fragrance too.
I rarely, if ever, buy a celebrity fragrance but I like this one.
I second this????????
Oh, did not mean the HD was the only good one!
OMG- I loved Boyfriend and thought it was the business. The great thing was that both me and my boyfriend at the time wore it- it was our ‘thing’.
🙂
Chiming in to second Boyfriend!
I agree. I regret passing it by. I did recently get a decant in the Posh Peasant closing sale.
Had a great weekend, went to see the tree at Rock center, it was so crowded we had to take our little monkey out of the stroller and carry her around! Also went to a tree lighting & caroling at a park in the upper east side. Busy weekend.
We had some friends come back from Paris, most people who know me know my love for tea, so they brought back a container from MF. Fantastic black tea and I am very grateful for their generosity.
I didn’t know this weeks community project this morning, I am in Shalimar Ode a la Vanille Sur la route de Madagascar and some Shalimar body powder. I know a lot a people love the Mexique version, but this version suits me better.
What fun! Do tell us which tea 🙂
The au Tibet
from the website:
Black China tea scented with vanilla, jasmine, mandarin orange, rose, and bergamot.
Very refined.
Sounds beautiful.
Thank you! I used to have a bag of the green version.
Happy fruit salad, aka Lorenzo Villoresi Tropicana, to counterbalance the snow on the ground
… good to hear about snow, but hopefully it will be a manageable amount this winter.
We got a mild winter last year here in Boston so I totally don’t expect that for this year
Sorry about the snow, but totally envying the cold temps! Fruit salad sounds good to me????
wow..snow!
I’m wearing Ormonde Jayne Montabaco for the first time and while it’s nice, I’m not incredibly impressed. It may be my nose, though: I’m still struggling with a virus, so sniffing ability is somewhat impaired.
Feel better soon.
Get well. Drink plenty of broth and tea.
drink tea and rest up
Terre d’Hermès sounds lovely. I’m in Tabac Blond today (old/discontinued EDT formulation), which I wear sparingly because my dwindling decant is all I’m ever going to have, apparently. Le sigh.
Oh, you smell perfect. Enjoy what’s left while you can 🙂
Happy Monday folks!
SOTD is Heeley “Sel Marin”; it’s a sunny (but cold) day in Paris and as our new office has floor-to-ceiling windows this one should be helping me feel all Summery. I would rate its chances higher if it would persist longer than 30 minutes. I guess it’s based on a British or Irish Summer! :^)
Anyway, for seaside scents I have still found nothing to beat Profumum Roma “Acqua di Sale”, although Phaedon “Sable et Soleil” is a worthy rival.
You smell great. I discovered Sel Marin in bath and body products at a hotel we visited and then tested the fragrance. I’m interested to test your other recommendations since you like them even more.
You smell good!
The window light situation sounds really good- it is a great way to combat winter blues!
Oh, absolutely, at this time of the year it’s a gift. :^)
I love that photo! Just beautiful.
Summer has returned with a vengence so I’m sporting Corsica Furiosa, my bestest summer buddy. I’ve missed it, but not the weather that goes with it.
I took T-Rex for a walk downtown last night to see the holiday decorations and the horses (she did wonderful with her sit/down stays while they loomed over her) and by the end of our walk, I was sweating and she was panting. 80 something at 7pm at night. Really? Ugh.
Yep, it’s Monday.
Corsica Furiosa is good to evoke the best of summer even in winter. I finally got it with a GC or through some appropriate perfumista math formula.
It’s a good one! I like most of what I have tried in this line and would love to explore more but the 100ml only size is a bit off putting to me. And, as I’ve mentioned before, the bottle and spray mechanism is absolutely top notch.
We should think about doing of split of that one at the next split meet.
Are you speaking of splitting Corsica Furiosa? I actually bought a FB of it a while back because I knew it would be a staple for me here in the swamp and I most likely would use it regularly. I’m happy to send you a decant if you like. You can reach me at t a i g a 1 0 1 in the land of yahoolaginism.
Thanks for your kind offer – I misunderstood your comment, thinking you were holding back on a FB due to the size. I am happy you have it, no need to send me any, I have a few mls left of my decant and I won’t wear it again until next summer.
No worries, I probably wasn’t very clear. I love Cuir Ottoman, but its an example of one I cannot wear regularly in this climate and 100ml bottle would not be cost effective. Love Amber Russe as well. Also Musc Tonkin. And Tabac Tabou. Equistrius….so MANY!!
Good for T-Rex!
She’s turning into a lovley little adult dog. I found a real gem at the local shelter. ????
I will take your weather *and* your CF 😉
I’d be happy to send you some of both!
SOTD Marni layered with Marni Rose.
Scent cousins–I am wearing Marni Spice. You smell fantastic!
Monday…already!?
SOTD: Amber Musk from Aerin.
My thoughts exactly this morning.
Right, though? I want to dig back under my covers.
Wearing rose delight body oil with a spritz of Arbole Arbole over it.
This is like Ravel and Debussy meeting for a jam session.
I was just reading a review of Arbolé- how’s the lasting power for you?
It is definitely detectable at 3 pm. It was a very light application.
Surprisingly good for a natural perfume.
Ravel and Debussy collaborating would be totally awesome.
That’s some salon you’re hosting.
Wow! I have to try this.
I’m in Lyric Woman today. I’m almost tempted to wear it all week and that ties in to a little project I might do for myself soon with my scents. Pick one to wear for a full week. I’m down to literally a handful of samples now and the rest are all bottles (with the exception of two minis and two 10ml vials). I’d had the idea of wearing a scent/week bouncing around since this summer when I decided to cut down on all the samples. Something to think about….
Unlocked a new home ownership achievement this weekend: watching the hubby get on the roof to put up xmas lights. It’s terrifying to think that we as humans do such ridiculous things that endanger our lives for the sake of decor. Seriously, it makes me wonder how we ended up like this.
Funny thing was, for as gung-ho as the hubby was to clamber on the roof and do the lights I then had to talk him down because he panicked, froze and then couldn’t figure out what to do to get down.
Ha!
The most I will do is put up a winter wreath! No scrambling for lights for me! I know I would do EXACTLY like your poor hubby and freak out!
Haha, right?! By the end of it all I felt like a mom, “Child, don’t make me come up there!” Ridiculous!
I like your wear-it-all-week idea. I did 5 days in a row of Ambre Narguile. I was utterly beguiled with the fragrance and couldn’t help myself. Plus it was nice to have a go-to scent that didn’t require decision-making in the morning. Reminded me of the good old days when I wore the same scent for months on end and had 3 bottles of scent to choose from. 😯
Oooh three bottles of perfume! That sounds…. really nice.
Of course I fell down the rabbit hole with scent when I first started several years ago and wanted ALL THE PERFUME, but now I’ve snapped myself back and realized I don’t need nor even want it all. I just want a few specific ones that I know work for me. And if it means paring everything down to a small collection that may look like I’m limiting myself – I’m totally ok with that.
Agree. I wonder what next year would be like if I wore one fragrance each week and committed to a no-buy year.
Gulp!
Gulp indeed. If I committed to it, I’ll probably break it within a week.
Ah, the good old days when deciding in the morning was easy and I finished bottles. Those days are long gone! Ironically now when I try to wear the same thing more than 2 days in a row it puts me off the scent.
It sounds as if noses value novelty over consistency. 🙂
And that is kinda why I want to challenge myself to do this one scent per week test 😉 I’m normally put off by wearing a scent for too long as well. So I’m thinking if I can tolerate it for a week, then it’s definitely one that is deserving of being in my wardrobe.
Going up is always easier for me than getting down, so I sympathize with your husband. But I’m sure the house looks great!
Hahah, yeah, pretty much everyone feels that way. I mentioned this at lunch and several guys agreed that trying to climb down the ladder – let alone get to it safely – is always the worst and scariest part.
About six inches to a foot of dark brown soil over sticky terracotta-coloured clay. The clay has rounded pebbles in it, so twelve thousand years ago or so it’s likely that this was laid down by meltwater as the glaciers retreated from the ice age. In the local parks there are several little collections of boulders that have been shown to come from Scotland, several hundred miles north.
You know, this post would make a lot more sense under Mals question about backyard dirt, than as a comment on your husband’s mountaineering skills….
You made me laugh out loud, Koenigsberg. I read your comment twice and went back to the beginning of the day’s comments and thought it was me that just wasn’t getting it.
True, but it’s more fun over here ????
Your husband probably was a can in his previous life. Be glad you could talk him down and didn’t need to call fire-fighters 😉
For the last probably 3 years (at least) I’ve been doing the following: I wear only those perfumes that I own and love (it can be either a bottle or a decant but it’s something that I got into my collection with the purpose of wearing). In the evenings (if I’m not going out) I would test 2-3 perfumes from the samples I have but I never wear perfume from the samples – not unless I’m considering the purchase and want to be sure that I like it before committing. But I wouldn’t be able to do a week per perfume – or I’ll end up not wearing some of my favorites for … years (before I start blushing about the size of my collection: remember, I’m counting purchased decants as well, not just FBs).
I may do the Friday project all week – my favorite buys of 2016. Today I’m in Voleur de Roses, which I’ve worn several times since a got my decant in October.
Yay for soil! That’s got me thinking… what’s the dirt look like in everybody’s backyard? We’ve got red clay dirt here.
Wearing Alahiiiiiine today.
Interesting question! Soil here is light gray when it’s dry, very dark gray to almost black when it is wet. I think we have a lot of clay plus some sand.
We have a very old ultisol over karst here. If you don’t tend a piece of land it tends to go into bushes and small native trees (10 years), then cedars (Juniperus virginiana, 50-80 years), then larger hardwoods.
My soil is sand. I’m living on a peninsula dangling off a bigger peninsula. It equates to a very large sand bar. The threat of rising seas and hurricanes makes me a little twitchy, I must say.
Awww, your red dirt reminded me of when I lived in Oklahoma. Red dirt is quite prevalent there. But in my current back yard in PA is basic dark soil. I don’t really know how else to describe it.
Yes, my Oklahoma yard is pretty red! I spent an interesting few minutes looking at the Oklahoma Geological Survey soil map: http://www.ogs.ou.edu/pubsscanned/EP9p16_19soil_veg_cl.pdf
Oh wow, that’s really fascinating!
When buying or selling any amount of land here, soil type is a huge part of the advertising by the realtor, especially for horse farms! Maury Silt Loam is the gold standard here (loose, brown soil).
Chalky clay here – part of the basin that London sits on I think. Though our house is on a slope and the garden’s been landscaped in a way that means we have an upper terrace with plenty of rich soil and a lower one which is pretty much grass-covered subsoil.
Looks dark brown but I don’t know up close because I have never done yard work. Touching soil gives me the heebie-jeebies, like taxidermied birds and Fracas.
????
What, Monday again?
1) Damp and very cold- not quite cold enough for snow on the valley floor, but almost. Cold enough and damp enough to feel it in your bones. Am wearing a big old cream colored Irish wool sweater, denim skirt and leggings. After work will work out hard and do some time in the sauna!
2) Am in Cuir de Russie. So perfect for today!
You look and smell great.
Thank you! 🙂
Vanilla Hinoki oil today. Something registers as ginger to me even though none listed. It reminds me of the those Chime’s ginger chews.
I smell a bit of ginger + lemongrass in Vanilla Hinoki, and the drydown has a bit of something fresh and cool bordering on minty but thankfully nowhere near toothpaste. Yummy.
I don’t get much in the way of mint, but I also tried Geisha Rouge, I think it was the Rouge, which smelled very minty.
Nice tip on the Geisha Rouge. Thank you! I want to try more scents from aroma M.
And you inspired me to go sniff Vanilla Hinoki again. You’re right, the “cool” note is more resinous than minty.
Such an interesting scent, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
sounds de-lish
Forgot to mention I adore Chimes ginger chews.
Oooohhhh nooooo. This is a no no no no no. On me. Adjatay. Leather, gasoline, and cheap sugary cookies from the discount bin in the supermarket–you know that chemically baking smell of well preserved baked goods made with real “butter flavor” concocted in a lab. Ostensibly there is tuberose, but I don’t want to sniff all the hard to find it. Unfortunately, I dropped the little dauber sample on my dresser. Hope I won’t have to live with this one for long.
Has anyone else tried this one? How did it go for you?
Love at first sniff–I bought a bottle within ten minutes of putting it on my skin
wow!
I totally understand that! It is hard to imagine someone trying this one and saying, “eh, meh… don’t get much…” This one has a ton of personality.
A friend just blind bought it and she should be receiving it today, she has promised to send me a sample, can’t wait. I think Hajusuuri didn’t like it either.
You recall correctly 🙂
Yup. It smelled lovely on thegoddessrena. But, you have to like tuberose, IMHO.
Commando so far today as I have a routine doctor appointment later. But I did put a bit of Mom’s Stuff salve on my elbow to sooth a rough patch of skin. My elbow smells like pine pitch and herbs. I think of Mom’s Stuff as a skin soother so until this moment I hadn’t thought much about how nice it smells.
Not familiar with that one, but I utterly adore the smell of Porter’s Liniment Salve. (Quoting from the tin, ingredients are “Chlorobutanol, Cresylic Acid, Zinc Oxide, Oil of Cloves, Camphor, Ammonia, Oil Cajeput, Oil Sassafras, Myrrh, in a base of Petrolatum, Lanolin and Beeswax.”)
I cut my finger last night and was going to leave it open to the air, but I should probably put some Porter’s and a band-aid on.
Oh my gosh, Porter’s sounds divine. Sassafras and myrrh make me think of root beer on tap in an old time-y pharmacy & general store. Lanolin and beeswax smell so nice to me too.
Well, it’s definitely medicinal. 😀 I just like that.
Acqua di Parma Cedro di Taormina. It’s not bad – fresh woody scent with a dash of herbs and spices. My problem is that something in it reminds me of an air freshener or fabric softener.
That is my problem with several from that series.
I woke up to the first snow of the season. SOTD YSL Champagne.
You smell great!
Snow and Champagne sounds perfect!
Perfect!
I’m happy that I have tomorrow off because working 8 days straight is really kicking my butt. I am in Shalimar Ode a La Vanille because I need something comforting.
Ouch, you definitely need a break!
Have a good lie-in tomorrow!
SOTD so far is Masque Milano Romanza. I got a sample of it and this is about the 3rd time I’ve tried it and it’s about to be scrubbed. I really have hated it each time. I try to give it awhile due to the great reviews it gets but something in it just sets my teeth on edge. Nasty sweet bug juice.
I didn’t like it either, though I didn’t smell bug juice. But I did get adequate amounts of cat poop.
LOL! Fortunately all I got was herbs.
OH! That’s EXACTLY what I thought.
It was a scrubber fir me too as was L’Attesa (sp?). I wanted to love them but I just don’t. Wish I could experience what others do. Oh well, money saved.
I didn’t like L’Atessa either, but I’m willing to give it another try.
Ooh, if you continue to dislike it, may I try the sample?
Of course 🙂
I thought something was wrong with my nose- Indid not get the hype either.
I didn’t…
I’m wearing Kiss Me Tender — I wanted something marshmallowy
Yum! You smell great!
Yep.
Kiss Me Tender, I love that name.
I’m enjoying the first snow of the season – 6.1″ – tucked inside doing holiday decorating and later looking forward to homemade turkey chowder and pumpkin cornbread. SOTD is Clinique Wrappings layered over BBW Juniper Breeze lotion; I smell like the snow-covered trees outside my window. Wishing everyone a cozy Monday whatever your activities are.
And, Happy 84th birthday to Little Richard!
Definitely jealous of your snow! Sounds like you’re taking advantage of it.
Your lunch sounds wonderful, enjoy!
That sounds idyllic.
SOTD = Le Labo Vanille 44
I was inspired by Undina’s latest post on the search for the perfect vanilla. Do hop on over there to read it and get a chance to enter the giveaway (of a different perfume).
M. Micallef Door # 4 (one day late reporting) – Ananda Dolce. On first sniff, I got almond, fruit, aldehyde, amber, tonka. Upon checking Fragrantica, I was happy that I got almond, fruit, amber and tonka right. What I thought was aldehydes turned out to be peach that sometimes gives off a bright fizz (kind of like what apple smells like to me besides smelling like apples). There’s also white flowers but it was subtle enough to not register on my brain. This is sorth a full wearing.
Shopping tip of the day – if an umbrella comes with operating instructions, it’s too complicated to use and, therefore, not a good gift.
You smell wonderful. And I’m with you on the umbrella advice.
Thanks! I was at Brookstone looking for an alarm clock for my mom. I saw some flat umbrellas that came with instructions to hold it this way and twist it that way to blah blah so I just walked away.
I wish people came with operating instructions. ????
Good one, Deva!
You smell fantastic! Vanille 44 is so right.
It was gray and rainy this morning and it hit the spot!
Love the shopping tip! ????
Thank you! Now I need to pay attention to product design from a lefty / righty standpoint. Normally, lefty products are marked as such. I just bought an alarm clock (not marked for lefties) for mom and I was wondering why she was having a bit of trouble with it and realized that it was actually more suitable for lefties (me) with the buttons requiring more dexterity on the left side of the cube with the display facing me.
Thank you, dear 🙂
I was recently researching different umbrellas (I was looking for a gift), and I’d wholeheartedly agree with you: an umbrella that requires any special instructions can’t be a good idea – either as a gift, or as an item for personal use.
Oh, and you smell great! 🙂
I’m in CdG Kyoto today
Always works.
Yes, it does! Why the heck I have never ventured beyond my decant?
Gourmand Coquin for a hazy Monday. Spent the evening trying to unclog the kitchen drain… oh the joys of home ownership.
Nasty job. I had to snake my shower drain a while back and almost hurled at what came up. Pretty sure you smell great, which must be very consoling.
I swear by those metal mesh drain screens. We bought new bath towels when we moved, and just the towel lint in the strainers is astounding, even months later. Not to mention the earrings I *haven’t* dropped down the sink.
Bingo! Turned out it was clogged with lint. Went down to the Home Depot for mesh screens.
I had to call the plumber the other day to clean the toilet….He spend 3 hours and presented me with a bill for $460…yikes 🙁
Fortunately my handy husband works for free. He has saved us so much money over the years.
ugh
I’m in Dzing! today. And probably for much of the rest of the week, since I can’t take the bottle with me when I travel and I want to get in my time.
I love Dzing! It’s one of the few fall/winter scents that works well in the desert, where fall usually means 80-90 degrees and sunny . . .
Yes, it is surprisingly versatile!
Hello, NST. I survived management team. I was not rude to anyone, and I did not descend to flicking paper clips at rambling, self-interested malfeasants. I do confess that I called a report ‘batty’, ‘skewed’ and ‘unfit for purpose’, but that probably won’t be minuted. Perhaps it should be.
On my way home, I tried Galop again. It really is very, very pretty. But no. NO! No Galop!
Today I smell sweet and a bit conservative: I’m wearing Alaia over its own body lotion, and I used to like it a lot. Today, it’s just an undistinguished prettiness, mostly concerning violets. The interesting parts flashed before my nose and faded away fast, leaving me with this vague pale purple, rather dull little floral. Huh! It’s not awful, just not edgy. I expected more, and I swear it used to deliver more. Maybe my bad skin chemistry is in play.
Best to all.
A friend gifted me with Alaia last year. While I like it very much and find it pretty, it doesn’t wow me either. Still, it’s a good scent for the office, and a great scent for the “no-brainer” days. ????
Good for you!
Ahh, Galop! It would be good to support Christine Nagel in her new role at Hermes…a sisterly act of kindness. Plus, you need to buy perfume now in case the new PM bans imports from France or increases perfume taxes….or, what a fine way to mark the departure of John Key…and that’s just for starters. Also, astrologically speaking…women born in May are destined to wear Galop…also Karen Kay, who wrote an advice column back in the 1980s for the Women’s Weekly, would certainly encourage such a purchase. Just think of it as art.
Happy Monday Everyone! I woke up this morning feeling pretty good, considering. We have been experiencing a lot of rain these last couple of days. I know this has probably contributed to some of my pain. I start physical therapy this Wednesday, so I plan to just take it easy until then.
My SOTD is Pomegranate Noir by Jo Malone.
Sure hope the pain eases soon.
Thanks! I do too.
Bois des Iles for me, although I’m always disappointed with it’s short staying power (on me)
I usually layer the EDT with a dab of extrait. It does help extend the life of the scent. You smell lovely.
I do the same, I find it lasts longer that way
The other day I noticed that Bois des Isles edt and parfum are very long lasting on me. Over 24 hours with a shower too. Stays close to the skin in the later hours though.
If I wanted to smell like soil,, I’d put on Patchouly Patch. But I don’t want to, LOL.
Ha, and I often do 😉
Drained the first sample from my little bunch (bought them over a year ago and failed to test)- CdG Daphne, soo goood! I have to sit tight on my hands and lose a wallet for now.
Bond-T today. I applied it before I realized that I have a drs visit today. Oh well. At least it smells good 🙂
The nurse asked me: “Are you wearing Angel? Smells like Angel!”
Bois d’Argent today….cozy. After yesterday’s 40s, today’s 60 feels like a tropical vacation. Cold will return soon, but I’m ready with newly delivered books. 🙂
Like the goddessrena commented above, I am also counter balancing the snow fall with MCG Noir Tropical.
You smell lovely. I wish that one had lasted better on my misbehaving skin. :^)
You smell good 😉
I’m in the mood for flowers today, so SL’s A La Nuit should fit that bill nicely.
I should’ve worn Demeter Dirt for World Soil Day! But I’m wearing Mitsouko, which is working for me on this gray, wet, chilly day. We had a flash flood watch earlier today, but I think we’re out of that.
beautiful
I’m working at home and blithely decided today was the day to try out the self-cleaning feature on my oven. I DID NOT EXPECT SO MUCH SMOKE/BURNING SMELL. Admittedly, the oven was pretty bad. I tried out my sample of Replica: By the Fireplace, thinking it would fit right in, but it’s very much a vanilla scent. Smells much better than my house, but still not my thing.
And now I am feeling nostalgic about that smell…. the self-cleaning oven that is! In 2012 we moved to our current house, which has (beloved by hipsters, annoying to those of us who love to roast and bake anything bigger than a q-tip) an early 1940s Wedgewood stove. The trick with the self-cleaning ovens is to do it fairly frequently…
A friend of mine has a restored 1940s oven – she posts pics of it all the time on fb. It’s beautiful, but I always wince when I imagine trying to cook a full Thanksgiving with it!
Yup… Me at the butcher.
Attendant: Can I help you?
Me: Yes, I’d like a p. . . f#%* (inaudible) turkey.
Attendant: I’m sorry ma’am, what kind of turkey?
Me: a pff. . .#%* (inaudible)
Attendant: A pretty turkey?
Me: Sigh. (Looks around and hopes no one can hear). A petite turkey. You know. Smallish. (Sees the turkey the attendant is holding.) Ah, no. About half that size.
Sounds like a chicken to me 😉
How does that feature work? I tried it once, but seems like nothing happened, at least no cleaning 🙁
Maybe you have very well-behaved food. 🙂
It varies from oven to oven, but it usually works by sealing the door shut with a little latch, and heating up to 500+ degrees for 3-4 hours. This reduces all the grease/food bits/etc. to ash. When it’s over you just wipe the ash out of the bottom of the oven. It worked like a charm for me, but my house smelled pretty bad.
OMG I learned the hard way not to do this in the winter. Only do it if you can open all the windows, the fumes nearly asphyxiated us all.
I am wearing Sylvaine Delacourte Florentina again. I had to order a bottle since I quickly finished my sample and that rarely happens. I received my order today and the packaging is out of this world. The scent itself is a simple one, so easy to wear and each time I wear it, I want to wear it more.
Are you ordering directly from France? I have been too scared to order perfume from overseas to ship to Canada as I have heard horror stories of confiscated packages.
Yes, I ordered from France , it was quick , no duty fees or anything and great customer service.
After an exhausting, but rewarding day, just a brief visit to NST. My perfume today is Satin Doll. Lovely in an understated way.
That’s a pretty one.
SOTD Guerlain Cruel Gardenia.
I just received the 20ml spray purchased from ebay on a whim (twas a very good deal at $30!), and oh my it is a beautiful white floral bouquet. Not particularly gardenia-y or edgy(why ‘cruel’? is it the price point?) though. It is going strong 4 hrs post application 😀
That’s a great deal!
It was serendipitous 🙂 Ebay was doing a $15 off $75 flash deal when I found a set of 20ml Rose Barbare & 20ml Cruel Gardenia for $75- so $30 apiece 😀
Wow, $30! I thought it was quite nice, though as you say, neither cruel nor gardenia.
Yes it reminds me of Creed Fleur de Gardenia (which i don’t own and don’t remember too well) in that it is a beautiful nondescript white floral bouquet that is not interesting enough to purchase a full size bottle 😛
Perhaps swayed by seeing a review for another Hiram Green, I’m wearing Voyage and loving it on a drippy, slushy day.
Another wonderful work.
As the snowflakes have gotten wetter and fatter outside my window I may be forced to buy one of the last bottles…uh oh
I’m wearing Dilettante today. It was snowing a bit earlier but it’s too warm for it to stick. Lovely to watch while it lasted.
I have yet to see a real snowflake this season. I saw plenty of the fake ones on Ugly sweaters.
Andy Tauer’s rose oil after a hot shower. Now an early night.
Sounds delish. Enjoy!
That sounds wonderful! Hoping you have good dreams as well.
My new decant of Mon Parfum Cherie Par Camille arrived just in time for a light application on my way to work. I suspected that I would like it, and I was so right. I love it!
Mon parfum is one of my cold weather favourites, I love it, I blind bought it from eBay, and it took me a few wearing’s before I fell for its charms.
U smell wonderful!
I had a really festive weekend of Christmas bazarre’s, Christmas tree festival in the village church and carol service, Fille en Aiguille complimented the activities perfectly.
SOTD; portrait of a Lady, faded now and have just reapplied with Fleur Oriental by Miller Harris, lovely and cosy.
How do you like that combo? I’m intrigued.
L ‘Ambre des Merveilles. Lovely, just wish it would hang around longer on me…
Oh dear, does it disappear? Maybe I’ve forgotten, I thought that one lasted pretty well.
I’m wearing DelRae Emotionelle. I love melon in fragrance. It’s controversial but I don’t care. I love the smell and taste of fruit.
It’s my second favourite DelRae (Amoureuse is first), and I love it. It feels like Le Parfum de Thérèse’s insouciant younger sister.
