Oh dear, it's Monday again. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Christian Lacroix (It's Lacroix, sweetie) Tumulte Homme.
Reminder: on 12/2, wear a perfume by Michel Almairac, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the vintage Lacroix choker ("vintage opulent choker necklace featuring three strands of multicolored crystals, faux pearls, glass cabochons, wood, iridescent mother of pear [sic] and lucite elements in a gold toned setting") is already sold, sorry, at 1st Dibs.
Oud Al Sahraa
Have never smelled it, but it sounds wonderful!
It is from the Berdoues Grand Cru collection…while I am not a huge fan of oud this one is light on the oud and powdery, balsam-y and fruity….really hits the spot on a cold morning…and the bottle is gorgeous 🙂
http://www.fumerie.com/house/berdoues/oud-al-sahraa
That IS a gorgeous bottle and not a bad price either.
I actually got mine as a gift for a family member who let me decant and I paid twenty dollars less by purchasing at an online discounter….I told her she better give me that bottle back when it is empty 🙂 (I am collecting them)
Resistance is futile 😮
I came back from vacation over the weekend and mentally prepared that it will be a few more months before the next.
Tauer Rose Delight body oil, drinking cherry blossom black tea.
I am going to sample Gris Montaigne today, at some point. I am feeling rather lazy today
But you smell wonderful.
Those body oils are becoming legendary!
Dzonka, I was in a rush this morning, and this ones become a bit of a cold weather no brainier,, it’s especially perfect when it’s cold, crisp and sunny weather.
Gorgeous.
you have inspired me to wear Dzongkha instead of sampling the dior I had planned for today
Gr8!, we smell very lovely.
Histoire de parfums Moulin Rouge
Lovely!
this ones going to be my next perfume purchase- so tempting when they come in those 15ml bottles! U smell beautiful!
I LOVE the 15 ml bottles. I can be certain I’ll use them up in my lifetime at that size! 😉
You smell lovely today!
Inpired by Erin’s post I am wearing Aromatics Elixir. I don’t wear if often but when I do it makes my day.
AE was my step mums signature, always think of her when I smell it, wonderful stuff.
AE was a constant in my perfume wardrobe in the late 70s…loved that one. haven’t tried current formulation.
Hmmm. It’s a hell of a fragrance and you have to be in the right mood- or ready for the right mood. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.
Wearing Ambra del Nepal by I Profumi di Firence. One of the best ambers out there. I love the smoky incense opening more than anything else. Cozy and warm. My bottle will come to an end soon, so I am using it very, very careful. Earlier in the morning I sprayed the whole sample of Cadencia L’eau Des Collines Violette edc, that someone from the swapmeet included as a goody. Sadly, it did not last more than 5 minutes on me, so except for an iris note in the opening I did not have and chance to get anything else. Lovely, for the time it lasted.
Love that one, you smell great!
You smell fabulous darling 😉
I’m wearing Jardins d’Armide from a sample. I’m really enjoying it, although I don’t quite know what I’m smelling.
Why thank you sweetie. (Why aren’t there Ab Fab emoji??)
Oh, that would be great.
Memoir Woman today. Laptop-less and vehicle-less (The CEO hit a deer the week before we left for vacation, and his car is *still* in the shop), I’m sorta grouchy. Guess I could start getting Christmas decorations out of the attic, that might help.
As long as you don’t have to untangle any strings of lights . . .
Hope you get normality back soon! 🙂
Ugh. You smell lovely and strong enough to tackle lights.
Enjoy decorating
Sorry to hear about the vehicle and laptop Mals. Hope you get lots of decorating done! I’ve been curious about Memoir Woman. What’s it like?
It’s weird, is what it’s like! Really. And I have no real idea why I love it, but I do. It’s my “Tom Hardy in a leather jacket” frag.
Amouage called it an animalic chypre when it was released and I was like, “Ummm, NO. Not going to try it.” But then I did, and it was *weird,* so i tried it again to figure it out, and somewhere along the line I got addicted. Up top, it’s very medicinal – clove, pepper, some wacky herbal thing – and then it turns into a BWF (at least on me), lots of jasmine and some tuberose. And then woods, musk, and fur/leather.
Love that description. 🙂
Smelling great though. For a long time, I thought I didn’t like this one, but I do. Got it mixed up with something else, I believe.
Twins! It’s one of my favorites.
You smell great.
Tabac Tabou. It’s reminding me of the beach grasses along the paths near the shore last weekend. Ahhh…
To answer your question from yesterday…
https://www.aldi.us/en/tips-explore/holiday/holiday-essentials/products-detail/ps/p/winternacht-marzipan-log/
Oh yum. There’s a new Aldi in my parents’ town, and I’m tempted to make that 50-mile drive to visit it.
Oh you REALLY should….there is one in my parents’ city and they say the prices are the best and they have a great selection…I won’t even begin to tell you how many sweets, cookies and cakes they brought to our house from there for Thanksgiving , nor how many of those marzipan logs I ate in four days (um….six….:( )
you made me laugh!
The confectionary section and cheese case are must-check areas if you do go to that Aldo’s. It’s been three years since I moved to an Aldo-less area and oh, how I miss that store.
Thanks!! We don’t have an Aldi close by, but there is one near the Wegman’s , which I would like to visit more. Now it’s definitely worth an outing.
Okay, you decided me! This is what I’m wearing today. It makes me think of pollen drifting in afternoon sunlight (which is better to think about than actually experience).
Yes! We saw another bush with a fuzzy tip- I used to know it. I’m sure it was an allergen, but it was quite decorative.
I love this one! It’s not what I expected, but it’s really lovely. You smell great!
Lovely day here in the swamp and I’m wearing Tea for Two just because. A full day of very boring errands today, but good to get everything over with on a Monday. Tomorrow I will do a little bit of housework and a whole bunch of nothing else 😉
Hope everyone has a great Monday.
I have an afternoon of dull errands ahead of me too — here’s wishing they go quickly for both of us!
Haha! Spent the whole afternoon trying to replace my lost drivers license. Holy Krakatoa Batman! What a lesson in inefficient systems and governmental convolution, not to mention a lesson in patience…
Oh, that’s horrid — my errands cannot compare.
I’m amazed at the time the dull errands take. Were there fewer when all the kids were home? Or, was there more chaos?
I don’t even have the excuse of offspring! Ack! The simplest take has become ridiculously complicated these days.
Task, even!
SOTD is Dior Homme, and it’s extra-papery today. So interesting how fragrances hit one’s nose differently on different wearings.
That’s a really suprising aspect of this hobby, really enjoy it when that happens.
Me too 🙂
I love Dior Homme, can’t believe I only discovered it this summer.
Me too! It was good in the summer, but it’s Really Good in cooler weather, I’m finding.
I always think of certain roses as smelling papery.
I know what you mean – some rose varieties have a dustiness or dryness to their scents that reads as papery somehow.
I was supposed to send someone Dior Homme – eeeek. Whomever it was, please email me!
I hope whoever it was sees this. 🙂
Oud & Bergamot (JM). Will apply something more substantial later.
That’s a good one! You smell great!
You smell lovely!
I will second (or is that third?) what Deva and Wendysue said. Both of the Jo Malone ouds (bergamot and the rose one) are also ouds that agree with me (and not too many of the synthetic ones do )
Bois d’armanie for a chilly day.
You smell great!!
“It’s Lacroix, sweetie” – oh my goodness, thank you Robin, that took me back to the Ab Fab days!
I really have to get my hands on the new movie.
Kathy Burke has a great part in it.
Monday!
1) Kinda of a saddish Thanksgiving. But restful and got to meet up with friends for a Friendsgiving.
2) I really just wandered through shops with no real goal in mind. Every other year or couple of years I just really don’t shop all that much for Christmas, only to do a HUGE shop every so often.
3) Which was fine since I got a bill sating that I was short on escrow and need to send money to top up ( taxes for Oregon, specifically). Ho Ho Ho!
4) Got a little Christmas tree, and ornaments from IKEA and HomeGoods. Am thinking of a suitable gift for my housemate (she is a nurse).
5) Am wearing By Kilian Back in Black today (from a sample). It smells like the most sweetest, yummiest…baby powder. Specifically, Johnson’s Baby Powder with honey and vanilla notes. It’s lovely- but $260+ for baby powder? I don’t know, guys!
I’m sorry about the surprise tax bill. Why did they send it out at Thanksgiving!!?? We got one a few eeeks ago.
You smell great. The BKs are good if you get a big refund 😀 .
Or you could just go with Love’s Baby Soft?
Goodness, there’s a blast from the past! I don’t think I have ever smelled that one! But if it is sweet baby powder scent, then I need to try some!
Hey there!
Yes, the bill was sent out the week of Thanksgiving- thanks a lot! But honestly, since I bought the house at the end of August, but taxes are due the 1st of June, it kinda makes sense that there would be a need to top up the escrow.
Oh, that’s right- a tax refund! I was planning on new furniture and landscaping the backyard- but I am sure a luxury bottle would be able to squeeze in there!
I was running so late today after a morning stomach upset that I just decided to forgo the choice of scent, since it usually takes so long to choose. When I got to work I put on some Nest Indigo.
Hope you’re feeling better!
We had first snow today in Poznań, may be small but it happened.
I’m warming up with Prada Infusion d’Oeillet.
Wonderful, bet that’s a nice scent with snow!
It surely is delighfuly warm for this weather
Mondays post-holiday are TOUGH! 🙂
SOTD: Chanel No 5 EdT. Always a winner….
Full day of work, then a budget report for the PTA tonight. I’ve got this! (Sips from 44oz Mountain Dew….) 🙂
You smell like you can take on the world! And a Big Gulp of Mountain Dew!
You smell great!
❤️Thanks to you all who gave me ideas. Had the best time testing samples over thanksgiving weekend!
The winner?- Tried Santal Majescule next to Cocoa Sandalwood. Loved the sandalwood and peach in the Sonoma Scent! In the end the SM lasted longer on me, and the rose and spice wears beautifully. Yum! I’m wearing it again today and thinking of getting a bigger decant of the SM with the STC cyber Monday discount code.
Kalemut EDP layered over Amber Flash Oil. I am in Amber Heaven
That sounds like a great combo!
OMG, I have to try this!
In Cuir de Lancome. The perfume office grump is away today and so I could have worn my loudest perfume, but was in a modestly-suede mood today.
Ah, you could do an extra spray for freedom!
Smelling gorgeous!
I am wearing Cocoa Tuberose from Providence Perfume Company for the second day in a row. This stuff is addictive.
Sampling DSH Souvenir de Malmaison which seems rounder than the original Floris Malmaison.
PSA– Rose Jam shower gel is back in stock at my local Lush! Yay!
Just tried this for the first time a month ago, and I’m considering a backup bottle. 🙂
In Dita Von Teese by Dita Von Teese. I needed a break from all the sweet heavies of the season.
Are you a fan of her scents? I read her coffee table book, which has a chapter on her perfume lines (and perfumery in general) and have been vacillating back and forth about picking some up.
I only have tried, and now own, this one so can’t say anything about the others. I do really like this one, though. It’s a sort of retro rosy floral, and quite well done IMO, especially for the price. I hear Erotique is similar to Stash, but it’s hard to find these days.
That’s a pretty one. (So much more ladylike than I had imagined her smelling!)
Armani Rose d’Arabie.
PSA: Indiescents is offering free worldwide shipping today, along with 25% discounts on certain lines and a free tea sample and $20 gift card off future orders.
Thank you for (possible) enabling!
You smell wonderful, Rose d’Arabie is gorgeous.
SOTD = 31 Rue Cambon
I have a work-related event this evening and this will take me from day to evening.
I need to take another look at the Michel Almairac list. A preview several weeks ago indicated I either don’t own any or have no desire to wear what I may have.
31RC is perfect for that.
And it was! I stayed an hour, just enough time to polish off a glass of wine and 4 hors d’oeuvres.
You smell fabulous!
Thank you!
I have toneat my words – I have 2 different Bottega by Michel Almairac so will wear one of them this week!
SOTD is Coco edp. It puts me in a very cozy and happy holiday spirit! I am still digesting from Thanksgiving.
Coco is getting lots of love. You smell fabulous.
Today was pie for breakfast day at my house. I want the Thanksgiving leftovers out of here. 🙂
I love the thought of pie for breakfast. You have a fun household!
Pie for breakfast is a tradition in my family. You better get up early too, or risk missing out.
Coco is so beautiful and cozy. Perfect choice!
Coco is wonderful!
I know it sounds like one of those dog-ate-my-homework stories, but we really had a cyber attack at work on Friday and I could not participate in the project…
I’m in a black silk shirt, fake-Victorian choker and Moon Bloom today.
Oh dear!
Dries. I wore a little spritz yesterday, too, and it went well enough that I thought I’d do it again.
Oh, you smell superb! Sitting on my hands because I NEED a bottle of this magic stuff…
Yeah, I have a little decant and a sample, but will eventually want more, especially since one of my favourite comfort/winter combos is this plus ancient resins.
Not necessarily intentionally carrying on last Friday’s theme, but I’m wearing Queen of Hearts today.
I wore that yesterday and got ANOTHER compliment! From a “Scent Sensitive Susie” no less. You smell great ????
Wearing Queen of Hearts, which I picked up after reading the cheap thrills thread. It’s lovely! What a great way to spend fifteen dollars.
Drinking double bergamot Earl Grey with a bit of honey and cream, because it’s so chilly in Southern California today. I had to pull out the winter sweater box from the top shelf of my closet this weekend and rediscovered some favorite cold-weather clothes, at least.
SOTD is Anne Pliska. My sample arrived over the weekend along with a few more ambers that have been on my to try list. I get the comparison to Obsession and I get the orange creamsicle and so far I am liking it all. Somehow it feels less “dated” to me than either Obsession or Coco, both of which I own and love. That bottle is really something!
I love Anne Pliska too. It’s absolutely wonderful in cool weather. You smell great! And I agree- it does smell timeless.
Wearing the new Coromandel EDP today, layered over patchouli EO-infused lotion. The EDP is both slightly sweeter and less patch-heavy (to my nose) than my old, aged EDT decant was. I’m hoping the patchouli and other resins will deepen/strengthen a bit as my bottle ages (I think they did in the decant, if I’m not mistaken), but it at least smells recognizably Coromandel-ish, and I can give it a boost in the meantime to suit my own personal hippie-ish preferences.
And thanks to everyone for the wonderful patchouli suggestions over the holiday weekend! I’m getting together a sample order, as well as giving my essential oils some love. 🙂
Hope Monday treats everyone well!
I’m not sure if Aromatics Elixir was among the suggestions, but is worth a try on the patchouli front!
I was just thinking I need to retest AE! It’s been a few years since I took a good whiff. 🙂
Nice!
This is good to hear, Coromandel was kind of heavy to me in the edt. Not every wearing, but for the money… Gives me reason to try it again. Thanks.
Oh definitely! Without the patchouli wallop, it does feel a bit…toned down? I have a feeling it might work better for some people now.
If you include samples I’ve got a fair amount by Michel Almairac!
Today, tho, I’m wearing Smell Bent Winter of Love, which reminds me of my grandmother’s rum balls.
I think most of mine are samples too.
Today, wearing nothing in the way of perfume but the residual of yesterday’s Opium spritz. Perfect for the cold blast outside.
Gray and raining here (hey, it’s Portland (but snowing in the mountains, Yay!)) so I am channeling spring in Chypre Mousse.
I felt in the mood for something floral today, so I’m wearing Fragonard’s Billet Doux.
Such a pretty scent. I go through phases of wanting to buy it, and then the desire wears off. I’m making do with all my carnation samples.
Lovely!
“Lacroix, sweetie!” Nothing like some AbFab to improve a Monday. ????
SOTD is a testing of the Louis Vuitton Mille Feux sample I got yesterday. Yay for samples!
Samples make me very happy, too. I love wondering about the experience(s) they’ll provide! How’s Mille Feux working for you?
It doesn’t appear to have great longevity (but then again I didn’t spray it very lavishly). From what I’ve sniffed so far, I like the combination of leather and raspberry.
I just got a sample this weekend too. Loved it on paper. On me, it was not as enticing. Oh well, money saved????
Hahaha, love AbFab 🙂
I finally pulled out my winter fumes. SOTD is Lubin Idole. Mmmm I smell gooooooood
Yes you do!
Came back from two weeks holiday to an icy wind. And to top it all off so jetlagged today I forgot to put on any perfume and went commando ????. But its good to be back and looking foward to wearing all my cozy scents!
Craving some elegance and warmth, and Bois des Iles is filling the bill beautifully.
SOTD has been Huitième Art “Monsieur”, a perfectly respectable woody gentleman’s cologne. It would be great on me if I were a perfectly respectable woody gentleman. On skin, it has lacklustre (but not disgraceful) longevity. Worth a shot if yer likes yer wood.
Notes: patchouli, cedar, vetiver, sandalwood, poplar (populus) buds, incense, papyrus, oak and oakmoss.
It’s from Blooms October sample pack (I’m up to date at last), which is an exploration of cashmeran and as such will put off as many people as it attracts, I imagine.
Ya had me till cashmeran…
This is kind of late notice, but on Parfum1, they have 25% sale in addition to already low prices. I am particularly upset at Liquides imaginaries Bello Rabelo being sold for an amazing $105 per 3.3 oz, because I recently bought it from them for their – granted, very low- price of $140. They also have Dom Rosa, which I did not try, but saw mentioned here on NST in the article about boozy perfumes. Apparently, Parfum1 is another face of Twisted Lily, because I receive Twisted Lily cards and samples with Parfum1 orders.
This is interesting info about Parfum1 and Twisted Lily. I also ignore prices once I have a bottle unless I am looking for a BUB.
I thought everybody knew this!
i don’t recall ever ordering from Parfum1 and I probably didnt pay attention to it when Twisted Lily first opened since I was too busy complaining as to why they’re in Brooklyn and not Manhattan. 3 years later (has it been 3 years? Maybe more?), I’ve mastered getting there via subway.
Gotcha.
So what’s the purpose of this?
Parfum1 started as a perfume discounter. They sell all kinds of perfumes.
Twisted Lily is their boutique in Brooklyn that sells niche only, pretty much, and also has an online store.
They are owned by the same person, however Parfum1 regularly has discount codes and Twisted Lily does not. Twisted Lily has higher end brands generally but there is some overlap. Always check both before ordering.
I’m moving so slow today I have to keep checking to make sure I actually got out of bed.
Stopped at a Cracker Barrel during a holiday trip and picked up a small tube of hand cream in the gift shop: Dionis Goat Milk Skin Care in the Virginia Hyacinth scent (there were quite a few). I’m not a floral lover, so this was a pleasant surprise. It’s not very rich, absorbs easily, and the scent is light and realistic. And at $2.99 for a one ounce tube, a great stocking stuffer.
Still trying to decide between TF Santal Blush and Bel Ami, to get me rolling on my (by now, evening) errands. Oh well, guess I’ll have to stop for sushi along the way. Happy post-holiday readjustment, all.
Have you tried Bel Ami Vetiver?
Robin, you are wearing one of my favorite perfumes, just wore Tumulte Pour Homme last week. I stalk Goodwill online for perfume and thought they had a sealed bottle up for sale but I was, sadly, wrong. I’m wearing Gris Clair today. A lovely perfume friend sent me her bottle last week and I am enjoying spraying with abandon instead of dabbing on from my last decant. GC suits the dreary, chilly rain today.
I am so glad I bought it while it was still around! And for peanuts. Very good luck, hope you find one eventually.
Wearing l”Heure Bleu extrait. It made a very busy day much better.
Current formulation, and it smells divine.
I love L’Heure Bleue extrait in the current formulation. You smell great.
Ha! Edina is always good for a laugh. Thanks, Robin. I should have made NST my first stop this morning. AbFab reminds me it’s ok to aggressively ignore reality from time to time.
SotD = Hiris, which feels like the opposite of what Edina would wear.
Eddie would wear something with huuuge sillage. ????
Can’t believe we don’t know what she wore from the show, but I don’t remember ever seeing a perfume (and would not have noticed back when I was watching).
SOTD is VC&A Rose Velours. It doesn’t cut it on this cold blustery day though. It feels weirdly thin and sour.. like sadness 🙁 I should have gone for incense and wood.
