It's Tuesday. It's cold, and I did not get quite enough sleep. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm warming up with i Profumi di Firenze Ambra del Nepal and Mariage Frères Chandernagor.
Reminder: 11/18 will be No Brainer Friday — wear one of your seasonal "no brainer / go to" fragrances. Thanks to SheriG for the suggestion!
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Orbits Tatara Gold cast iron teapot is $90 at Teavana.
My second no brainer of the week is also one of the most beautiful scents I own – Nuit de Tubereuse by L’Artisan. It always seems right, no matter what, and is one of my most worn.
Hi Bob, I’m really enjoying Dzonka, so here’s you’re shiny enabler pin for that one. I’m curious about this one too, so if u hear of a too good to pass up offer, please let me know!
Glad you’re enjoying Dzongkha.
TKs did have NdT on their website a couple of weeks ago but it’s gone now. Might be worth checking a few bricks’n’mortar stores. I could sort you out a sample though. Email me on robert dot hinchliff at yahoo dot co dot uk if you’re interested
Thanks Bob, that’s so kind, will email u shortly!
I also am enjoying Dzongkha
I love NdT, great choice! Probably the tuberose I reach for the most often.
Nuit de Tuberose is my favorite L’Artisan scent.
You smell beautiful!
This morning after the shower I put on Rose Delight body oil and then I just sprayed Incense Rose both by Tauer. The ladder is a sample from a generous NST’er.
Tea is Marrakech Mint
Robin..you could use some nap time today and some tea from that tea pot
Lovely!
You smell fantastic!
Heavenly.
You smell great! A nap may well be in the day’s plans
It’s cold, dark and I also dind’t get anough sleep. Thought something “new” would do the trick so I found a sample of Byredo Gypsy Water but it’s so boring I might just fall asleep typing this …
Hope we both do better tonight!
Pretty sure you smell fantastic, but the “not enough sleep” part stinks!
So far, just mellowing out with my “accidental” Tauer Amber Flush body oil from last night. I will layer something delicious as soon as I finish my coffee and get moving. Someone mentioned PdE Tabac Aurea yesterday and it’s time I followed suit.
I finally heard from my relatives in NZ- turns out they were in Kaikoura when the earthquake struck and now can’t get home due road issues. Thankfully, everyone is fine! Thinking of all you peeps there and hoping life gets back to normal sooner rather than later.
Whoops, that would be SSS Tabac Aurea….????
Glad to hear all your folks in NZ are okay.
Thanks, me too!
how is the oil
Well, I love it! It lasts forever, especially if you use it as a hair oil. Someone described it as “chewy” and that’s a great adjective for it. Glad I accidentally bought 2 bottles ????
Such good news!
Yes, thank you!
Hi Deva. Glad to hear your relatives are fine. It must have been terrifying for them.
Thank you Kanuka! I can’t even imagine how terrifying it would be. Glad you and the other NZers here on the blog made it through ok, too.
It’s cold here, too, but sunny. I’m savoring my quiet time while baby naps, drinking coffee and catching up on NST, wearing a big cozy sweater and Coromandel.
enjoy the quiet time and you coffee in peace!
Niiiicee
That’s a good time.
Ha! We are in the same boat! My baby is sleeping a well and I am having some quiet time- just finished my coffee, put my sweater on, sprayed Parfum Sacre and reading my favorite blog. OOOOpppsss! He just woke up
My break is over…
Ha, mine woke up as soon as I typed my comment, too.
You smell great!
Wearing the last of my Ormonde Woman sample. As soon as I put it on my eyes opened and I thought: I smell like Christmas.
That is not a bad way to smell. It made me instantly happy and is making this day infinitely better for me.
Now I am crossing fingers, toes, eyes, limbs that I get the travel set of this fragrance on my wishlist for Xmas. The hubby did pick up on the fact that Iris Nazarena was on there, so…..
I love the smell of Christmas!
I do too. It’s very comforting.
I love OJ Woman, and it’s far too long since I’ve worn it. Too late for today, but maybe tomorrow. And now I’m wondering what scents the people in A-NZ associate with Christmas – something other than fir trees, I’m guessing.
I’ve kinda wondered that too.
You smell gorgeous. I have the travel spray set, a very good investment!
Oh good! I felt like that was the better option to put on my wishlist.
Berdoues Cologne Grand Cru Oud al Sahraa
I am feeling sleep deprived also this morning.
Czech & Speake Dark Rose is my SOTD .
We seem to be a good sized club here today!
I am joining the club too – need some nap time.
As am I. I was up late then woke myself up a couple of times with a dry, hacking cough. Am drowsy but a nap is probably not in the cards.
Dzongkha. Perfectly seasonal and since the first time I wore it a perfect no-brainer.
This one has become a no brainier for me too, this Autumn.
You smell wonderful.
I am also loving that too, wore that yesterday. No brainer for sure
Dzongkha has come to rival Mitsouko as a desert island scent. Mitsouko is number one on the desert island list, but Dzongkha is a close number two.
Wonderful, up there in the top 5.
It’s cold and foggy, and I too need more sleep. I think I’ll sample Amber Flash today.
Have you tried the oil? If it’s similar, I may have to invest in a bottle of the edp. Accidentally, of course. ????
Haven’t tried either the Amber or Rose oils yet, but both are on my Xmas wish list.
the rose oil is very addicting.
waiting to try the Amber
I just spritzed on a bit of Amber Flash to compare, and it is stronger and spicier than the amber oil. But they blend perfectly.
Thanks! That might spell doom for my pocketbook ????
I’m sampling Borghese di Borghese edp, from TPC’s recent sale on vintage samples. (PSA: sale there again today and tomorrow, 21% off, code “preholiday.”)
MAN, I love these 70s greenies. This is super-rich and reminiscent of several other complicated deep green florals – Safari, Inoui, and gah what was that other one… long gone, of course, and I have a sample nearly empty now…
Aliage maybe? Not familiar with Inoui – whose was that?
Inoui was Shiseido.
I don’t get on with Lauders, so I’ve never put Aliage on skin. (There’s something about them – they smell fine, but two hours in I’m nauseated and my stomach doesn’t calm down until I scrub. Happens every time, and it’s a shame because all three of my aunts wear EL and they smell great.)
Aww, I’m sorry – I get that with most Goutals. It’s just sad all around.
I can’t wear any EL either. I like a lot of the scents on others, but not on my own skin. I know it seems strange, but I feel almost claustrophobic in them.
OOHHH! I loved that one…haven’t thought about it in ages! Speaking of greens have you ever tried Clinique Wrappings? Don’t know if that was a 70s or 80s fragrance but I liked it as well…
and your mention of Scoundrel yesterday….loved that one too
I wish I knew what Scoundrel smelled like! The mini I bought on ebay was really ruined.
Wrappings is a little dry for me. Lots of vetiver and musk in the bottom, and I just don’t love that. The top is sparkly and beautiful, though.
Scoundrel from what I remember was rich and sweet with oakmoss in it (probably the real deal
!!!) and killer sillage…
I am surprised that I liked Wrappings so much given the vetiver…I am usually not a fan when vetiver is a prominent note….I doused myself in Angel Muse this weekend in Sephora and I found it to be a bit off putting, preferring the original Angel if I had to choose between the two….
I remembered: Henry Dunay Sabi! Gorgeous.
I love Borghese Il Bacio, a very plummy oriental. It is kind of a no brainer, altogether pleasing perfume. I like Wrappings, too. I can wear most of the Lauders. I am especially fond of Azuree and Knowing but I have over applied and understand how one could feel consumed by their humongous scent profile and sillage.
I’m also underslept and wearing the comforting Myrrhiad.
Twinsies! It’s an adjunct for me today.
It is good stuff – and yes, comforting. Presumably the primary note is myrrh, but I have no experience with that note so I couldn’t say.
SOTD is YSL Cinéma – definitely a no-brainer autumn scent.
I wear this a lot in the fall as well, you smell great.
Same and agree. *snuggles up next to SheriG*
Oooh la la!
Lack of sleep here too, I really need an early night tonight.
Last night rubbish emotional stuff keeping me awake, fingers crossed I’ll sleep a lot better tonight.
SOTD;the very beautiful Fille de Berlin, cheering me up a bit, along with a nice cup of Nigiri Pekoe tea.
I hate rubbish emotional stuff! Hope things smooth out so you can get a good nights sleep tonight.
Thanks Deva, that’s really kind of u, lack of sleep makes u feel a bit wobbly too, doesn’t it?, so it’s harder to deal with the rubbish emotional stuff!
The rubbish emotional stuff can be the worst. I hope you can put it aside for a better sleep tonight. On the positive side, you and Fille de Berlin smell lovely.
Thanks Tiffanie!- I did smell gorgeous, didn’t I?!
Slept much, much better last night, so feeling a better.
You smell gorgeous! Hope you sleep well tonight.
Thank u, I really did, and feel much stronger for it.
I recently tried Chandernagor for the first time, and it’s lovely. I’m wearing the weird and wonderful Eau d’Elide. Tea is DF Earl Grey Fleurs.
Perfume names make me smile.
Those are two I’ve not heard before!
I admit I like my plain old (budget!) Numi chai better, but it’s a nice change.
Keeping tabs on the recommended budget stuff
Oh and International Tea Day is on December 15th (according to Wikopedia)…any chance we could do a favorite budget tea poll on that day? (I ask for selfish reasons
!!!)
Added to calendar!
I’ve never tried the Numi, and I’m not usually a massive fan of chai’s but Chandernagor is very drinkable! But MF is expensive.
Today’s no-brainer = Box of Eels
The definition of….
You smell great.
I miss box of eels so! You smell fabulous!
lovely
I am wearing CD Colle Noire from the swapmeet. For some reason I am in a very good mood today and I hope to stay this way all day long, the weather is warm and nice.
Enjoy! You smell lovely.
I bought the “Cinnamon and Spice and Everything Nice” sample set from Surrender to Chance, and I’m trying Fendi Theorema today. It is very nice, but I get the feeling it is discontinued?
Yes, it is.
That’s sad!
Some bottles pop up occasionally on Fragrancenet….
Are they reformulated, though? I bought a bottle of Fendi Fendi on fragrancenet and it smells nothing like the original. And I don’t mean little tweaks here and there – there is no relationship to the original.
Not sure as I’ve never smelled the original.
I don’t think that this sample is vintage and I am happy with it, so I won’t have the original to compare to. Ignorance is bliss.
Bulgari Black with an added spritz of Huitieme Art Myrrhiad which seems more about vanilla than myrrh. They are working nicely together.
Innovative combination!
To me it smells like an incense root beer float.
Ha! I can see you the root beer float part but the incense is not jumping out at me.
As incense goes I think myrrh often smells more like balsamic amber than a typical dry resin.
I must admit, I’m not really sure what myrrh smells like so good to know.
Interesting.
Nice! I can see that working. I have both of those – will give it a try.
I think it’s just amping and sweetening the vanilla of Black. It’s a nice combo.
Hermes Galop. It’s a day to evening scent…
I need advice on a fragrance gift for my female doctor who has commented a few times that I always smell good. I’ve usually applied something quiet hours before the appointment, just because I can’t be completely commando. I have mentioned my fragrance “hobby” ( not orthopedically taxing). Yesterday it was the Tabac Aurea she smelled hours later, when I could barely detect it. Has any discovery collection been a successful gift for anyone?
Or, would soap or body wash/ gel be better? Last year I did food.
Thanks!
Maybe a candle? I’m paranoid about gifting people I don’t know extremely well with soap or body wash for fear that they’ll think it’s some kind of hint. But maybe you’re healthier than I, psychologically speaking.
I’ve always worried about that too, Sheri! But on the other hand I love receiving it.
Andy Tauer is selling his soaps this year, they are beautifully fragrant glycerin soaps. This year’s scents are tuberose and mandarine ambrée. I just received my tuberose soap and it’s heavenly. Cute retro style packaging too.
The other soaps I gift a lot are Fresh Index, they smell nice and the pretty paper wrapping is great too.
Another gift idea is the Jo Malone mini sets, they have several out now, along with mini candle sets.
I got the other one Mandarine Ambrée, I haven’t used it yet but smells great, thinking also ordering the Jasmine one.
I will second the Jo Malone soaps…they smell amazing and make great gifts …
I just got the 4-pack. I am breaking up the set to give one each for my sisters and nieces!
Twins! We smell so lovely!
I think a discovery set would make a better gift for someone who’s expressed interest in smelling good
I suggest soaps – Jo Malone, Hermes both have ery nice sets.
It’s too warm here but I am also a member of the didn’t sleep soundly club.
Whoever it is that has been urging me to try the lotion (there are several of you, I know) enabler pins of a special variety since I tend to dislike heavily scented body creams and find this to be non-irritating and pleasant.
Never got my comment posted yesterday but I wore Cuir de Russie and the Fresh Cream lotion. Hubby asked twice if I had lit a candle and kept sniffing at me suspiciously
Being a kind woman, I didn’t point out to my spouse this morning that he smells like a pineapple and nutmeg milkshake. This is NOT a bad thing. I don’t know how he takes the not-very-interesting-in-the-bottle HDP 1828 and makes it amazingly sexy. The eucalyptus disappears and there’s no pine, the citrus morphs into pineapple and the sweet notes are amped, sillage is soft but present. He’s helping out with some filing today in an office full of women and I expect he will be the subject of some discreet huffing.
I’m unscented so far and enjoying the peace and quiet. I’m also rambling because I’m procrastinating about calling our ISP over a billing problem that nobody seems able to understand or solve. The next person who tries to convince me to add a landline for only $20 a month is going to be very sorry. I think I’ll probably wear No. 5 into battle.
Hilarious! Good luck with the ISP.
Success! Put on my polite but firm mask and waded in. Will be paying a better rate for the next year in spite of “no current discounts or promotions.” It was a worthwhile hour and I only had to be transferred once. Now I know to ask for the “loyalty department” instead of billing when I call. I can call back next week to get an additional discount because I will qualify for a promotion that hasn’t started. *insert happy dance here* Chanting “you catch more flies with honey…” to myself paid off in a big way. It probably helps that I’ve worked in CS and know how it feels to be yelled at by some stranger who wants a favor.
So glad to hear you like the lotion! It really is delicious, and layers very well. Also, you’ve inspired me to make a dreaded phone call to my cable company.
I hope everyone us well today!
SOTD (and probably tonight and into next morning) is Au Coeur du Desert. I am so torn as to whether I like this or L’air better – they’re similar enough that I dont want both but different enough that they don’t seem redundant….le sigh
To me they are not redundant, I find LADDM to be spicier and more ambery whereas ACDD is more woody and quieter. I own both.
Wearing my new Amber Flush body oil with Au Coeur du Désert. Great combo. I am so relieved to be home after a very trying weekend with relatives whose values are diametrically opposed to mine.
Lovely combination. The Au Coeur is as close to a no brainer as Tauer can get.
Hopefully you can relax and reflect after the stressful weekend.
Ugh. After last week that’s the last thing I could possibly deal with. Enjoy your scented escapism and the comfort of your own home!
Yes, I’m avoiding certain relatives right now.
Inspired by the review yesterday, I am also wearing Au Coeur du Désert (layered with the Amber body oil). Like AD above, I can’t decide if I need ACdD when I already have a 15 ml bottle of LADDM. Maybe ACdD will eventually be available in the explorer set as well, that would be very tempting.
I have yet to try these!
Yves Rocher’s Accord Chic. It is a no brainer incense – iris, really very good, especially considering the price, and in the Netherlands, available as a 10 ml purse spray for 10 euro’s. Koyel thinks otherwise, but think it is a better YSL Nu. I think someone on Fragrantica writes that it is exactly like vintage Nu for those of you who are missing that one.
Sorry
Maybe I ought to give it another try.
Good idea!
Wearing Bvlgari Omnia, brown bottle, which is making me want to sit in a small room and inhale deeply all day.
That’s a real beauty! You smell amazing!
Love this one!
Flight delayed 2 hrs already due to rain, arrgghhh. Wearing what I would say is a very appropriate scent to fly in, Galop, and no complaints from my beloved (yet).
Not sure, but may be able to squeeze in a little sniffing jaunt while in Chicago.
enjoy your trip
Have a good time!
Morning, all. I’m another member of the “didn’t sleep ” club. If ever there was a day for a no-brainer perfume, it’s today. And the trophy for “Best No Brainer” goes to Black Cashmere. It’s not yet five o’clock, but I’m up, dressed, and trailing clouds of glory in the form of sweet woods snd warm spices. BC is soooo beautiful to my nose. It smells great on everyone, even Dakkie-Dog-Hoople-the-Cat. He’s just had a huge cuddle and picked up my perfume. By way of thanking me, he’s covered me in white fur because he’s moulting for summer, and he’s dribbled–just a little — on my shirt. Sigh. I’ll change my clothes shortly.
I blame the Supermoon!
I recently got to spend time with a light grey kitty who shed fur all over. She also dribbles and drools when she is content in one’s company. Very sweet but I had to change clothes often.
Dakkie dribbles and kneads and purrs until he sneezes and coughs and his blue, blue eyes get all slitty and sleepy. It’s totally worth having to change my clothes to get this expression if unconditional love.
Newburg is a wool-sucker. Ordinary cat drooling is nothing compared to the slobbery chewing that occurs if he’s feeling needy. My softer robes and sweaters are neglected for this reason and don’t even ask me about the soft fleece blanket that used to adorn our bed. Yick. Haineko does it too, but only if her brother starts first. They’re incredibly cute and creepy in the little soft cat bed as they nurse and knead in unison, with their little eyes following you around the room. Weirdos.
Bwahaha! I used to have a cat who sucked on my fingers. Like, full-on deep throat. It was gross, but he was incredibly insistent. Would not leave me alone until I let him do it.
Tuesday, guys!
1) Only a few hours of sleep- but woke myself up with some jumping jacks and stretching.
2) In a few drops of Coromandel(from an adorably tiny Chanel bottle), which is a wonderful no brainer and perk me up.
3) Homemade cafe au lait + toasted croissant with almond cream. MADE BY THE COMISSARY. We have a frustrated culinary grad who is killing it in the kitchen, so the quality of of the soups, baked goods, salads and entrees have soared. This particular treat was $1.
I want no 3!!!
and what is it with the sleep deprivation? I also had a really bad night sleep but I was blaming it on my bedbug partner’s snoring
At this point it appears to be a more global phenomenon.
Yes indeed.
With thanks to Robin’s mention of National Cat Day a few weeks ago, I stuck my neck out and volunteered to find a home for a sweet kitty. Kitty’s person had passed away (at the age of 92), and the little kitty sat on the steps of the house waiting for him to come home for two months. It was tender and heartbreaking, but her extended family could not keep her. A few of us in the community were able to make her story known and find her a happy new home with people who will love her as much as her first person did.
So last night I didn’t sleep much because there were kitties looking for homes in my dreams.
I blame everyone’s lack of sleep on the full moon. Let’s use it as a motivation for lots of fragrant spritzing plus extra sleep tonight. (Beware of online shopping!)
Oh my goodness, what a heartbreaking story. I’m so happy to hear kitty has a loving new home
It is nice when a kitty story has a happy ending. I’m so grateful for the family who is giving her love.
May whatever friendly deity you believe in (or not) bless you for helping to find that kitty a home. I hate that pets who are already mourning a lost human are so often left homeless. My cousins and I all have agreements (and in some cases clauses in our wills) to care for each other’s pets in case of disaster.
That’s an excellent idea! I will add it to my will, with a suitable endowment to accompany it. Thank you!
We also have our cat and an endowment in our will, he is part of the family and we call him our 3rd child
That’s wonderful that you’ve worked things out ahead of time for your furry family members. I hadn’t before seen up close how pets can collateral casualties when someone passes away. Kitty’s extended family all have Big Dogs, and Kitty was used to life in a quiet home, so they knew she wouldn’t be happy with them.
That’s a wonderful story! I’m so glad for the little purr, and even more glad that the world holds wonderful caring people like you and your neighbours.
Aww, you make me smile. I too am glad that I have caring neighbors. Many have lived here for 50 or more years. I am a relative newcomer and feel like I have been well taken care of, just like Kitty.
I love a happy kitty ending! Nice work????
Thanks so much. Sometimes people and pets cross paths in surprising ways. I wish my family could have kept little Kitty, but my kids are in love with their parakeets and parrots.. We also have two goldfish. So we’re kitty-free for the time being. But someday I know I won’t be able to resist a furry face when it appears at the right time.
Cats are amazing friends and hope you’ll have one (or many) too!
Bless you for helping a kitty in need.
A kitty in need is a friend indeed.
Two months!? That made me tear up. Good on you all for finding her a new home!
I know! Me too. It was hard to watch Kitty mourn her person for so long. She is so sweet and loyal. We live across the street where we could see her all the time. My kids and I were getting very attached to her. We’ve had cats in the past (and dogs, rodents, reptiles, too) so it was a big relief to see Kitty go to someone who already cherishes her.
Clap clap!
Awww, shucks.
Every night I only average about 5.5 hours of sleep. It’s not that I have a problem going to sleep–it getting into bed in the first place.
I am such a night owl, it’s pathetic. I get up at 6:30 a.m. each morning as I have to be at work by 8:30 a.m. and I work until 5:30-6:00 p.m. I rationalize that I stay up so late because I have such a short evening. However, I know that even if I got off work at 4:00, I would still be up late every night.
On another note, my SOTD is Tiziana Terenzi’s Lillipur.
If you can do your work and generally feel ok, perhaps you are someone who doesn’t require the usual amount of sleep. The evening time you stay up may be the way you wind down to sleep a restorative 5.5 hours. There is a lot of stress related to sleeping. I haven’t been staying asleep, and found I’m more productive and calm when I just decide to get up and get something done.
I agree with you Wendysue.
Parfum d’Empire Eau de Gloire here!
Mmmm. Good choice. You smell like crisp, green stems and freshly ironed linens (to me, at least).
MFK Baccarat Rouge. For a quarter of the price, this could be a no-brainer
Twins.
The first thing I thought when I sampled this one a couple weeks ago was Pink Sugar. I haven’t smelled Pink Sugar in a long time but that one can probably be had for less than a quarter of the price of BR.
Count me in in the too cold/not enough sleep crowd. I’m reaching for my chene decant, which is a definite no-brainer. Hopefully my brain will then be freed up to engage with the world.
Decided to test Fruitchouli Flash since I’m not teaching preschoolers today. Bowled over by sweet. Not going here again, especially because anything Tauer lasts all day + on me.
Good news is that I did manage to work something out with Amex yesterday. I said that the dental school had goofed something up with my bank account and I could pay Amex something last night and pay the rest on the 24th. I wasn’t exactly expecting them (dental school) to take out $500 instead of $200. I’m happy that something was worked out but still feel bad/guilty that I wasn’t able to pay the full amount since it is a charge card. Since it is my day off, I am wearing the dry down of vintage Bal. It’s past noon and I haven’t showered yet and after my shower, I shall keep wearing vintage Bal. It’s not a work safe perfume so I don’t wear it to work.
That’d great, glad to hear you worked something out. Debt is stressful.
Testing Dame Black Flower today. Cotton candy, burnt sugar and baby powder. On my way to *try* to wash it off (nothing washes off of my skin!).
Good luck!
Rapple – have you tried Tecnu (washes off poison ivy) or kpaint’s brilliant discovery of using make-up remover?
Musc Nomade this morning . If cut crystal had a scent this would be it.
Oh I love that one. Didn’t pick it up in time and can’t find it now.
For what I would consider a reasonable price, anyway.
Robin, this is a beautiful amber – I finally smelled it last weekend.
SOT – Coromandel.
It is lovely, and not expensive!
Narciso Rodriguez Musc Oil for Her – the original and just a drop. No brainer because it goes anywhere and does anything. A fave.
You smell lovely, this is one of my no brainers too
Revisiting MFK Oud Satin Mood, and it’s still a hesitant like. I wish it were far less sweet..
SOTD = Le Labo Iris 39
This was my first perfume purchase from Barneys and my first Le Labo ever. It is versatile, appropriate for all occasions and weather. It’s another two-fer day for me as I am continuing Iris Week AND wearing a no-brainer perfume.
In other news, I am the rollerball extraction whisperer. I bought a rollerball of Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon with the intention of rehoming the contents into an atomizer. Since the rollerball is brand new and the ball is not slick, I was able to use the pad of my thumb to gently rock the rollerball contraption with an upward motion until it popped off. It is very similar to opening a vial except the top of a vial is ridged and has more friction.
I need to stop by Macys later today to use my $40 Macys money!
Such a great one. I wore my little decant last week and remembered how it’s smooth enough for the regular world but oddball enough for us perfume people…
Ha! I love your description. This one is squarely in the weird category and I dare say, even more so than darling Bvlgari Black.
I ended up buying a set of 4 Jo Malone soaps – one
Each for my sisters and nieces.
I took the opportunity to smell Incense & Cedrat. Ut drags tbat I forgot to bring my own atomizer to procure a sample. The SA promised to make me a sample the next time I’m there.
Continuing my Chanel streak with Cristalle edt. I could easily wear this every day.
I did just that, for many years!
After a couple of very unusual days – first an earthquake, then torrential rain and floods – I’ll be back in the office today. We visited yesterday, so I know there is only minor damage on my floor. I’ll wear sensible clothes for some tidying work, but accompany those sensible clothes with Encens Mythique d’Orient.
Good wishes, Gaynor; hope the mess is soon forgotten and the usual is regained!
“Alas, my handyman has lumbago this week. Never mind, I shall have a caviar omelette after this”, says the EMd’O.
Spending an entire day in training. Accountants and the law. Wearing one of my favourite no brainers l’eau d’hiver. Body milk + just a smudge of EDP.
Quiet enough for close quarters, and I still smell amazing.
A small bottle of L’Eau d’Hiver is on my wish list
Are you working with federal payroll by any chance?
Well, I’m Canadian, but thankfully, I am not involved in the Phoenix implementation kerfuffle.
As a CPA, I an legally mandated to attend a metric crap-ton of training every year. This was 7 hours of that crap-ton.
Surely that beats dealing with the payroll implementation
You smell wonderful.
Dior Homme today. Not sure it’s a “no-brainer”, just felt like wearing it since I hadn’t in a while.
I can see it being a no-brainer. You smell great.
Ditto and may wear this for my self-imposed Iris Week.
SOTD is Frapin “Paradis Perdu” (again, and it is just as useless as last time I tested, and I’m not altogether pleased to find it in 2 Blooms packs in short succession, and that is about all I have to say on the matter). Spent the whole day in planning meetings, which were fine, but now I am pretty tired. :^)
Planning meetings is tiring. Sometimes scheduling them with people whose calendars are restricted is even more exhausting!
Been taking too much of my clients’ negative energies since the election so for my day off I am doused in a force field of Songes and I’ve got reservations later to soak in a hot tub
Good for you!
A co-worker handed me a spray sample of the newish Chanel No.5 L’Eau. I put it on and ten minutes later, all gone. I never really got a feel for it before its departure. So I put on some Soivohle Green Oakmoss and now I’m content.
I tried the new Chanel No 5 last week. When I first sprayed it, I couldn’t tell it apart from the original. Once the drydown process started I could vaguely smell a slight difference. Not enough to wow me. Like you, after a few minutes, I couldn’t smell it anymore.
It’s the same for me. It’s like I can smell the top notes and after 10 minutes, nothing.
I have heard that from a few people, and that amazes me as I get 8 + hours from it.
A FB or healthy decant is on my wishlist
Good news this week I hope!
Found a leak in the roof over the garage last night so I am hoping the handyman I emailed gets back to me soon, it’s supposed to rain the rest of the week. The roof was done about ten years ago and shouldn’t be failing yet, so I wonder what’s going on. I’m wearing Santal Exotique this morning and it’s lovely while it lasts.
Boo hiss on that roof. I live in a townhouse sontbe roof is the responsibility of the homeowners’ association. That said, it is still a pain to get it fixed and to resolve any resulting damage.
Robin, I am so envious of the cold weather you’re having. In Texas, Houston to be exact, it’s warm. Hardly feels like Fall here. Well, I’m out and about today preparing for my surgery tomorrow. I was supposed to have this other knee taken care of in June, but the date was changed. So, tomorrow, I am having my 2nd full knee replacement surgery done.
My SOTD is BlackBerry &Bay by Jo Malone.
You smell great. I have sample of B&B somewhere I need to wear soon. It’s perfect in autumn.
Congratulations in advance on your new knee. I remember how much that surgery improved life for a loved one in my family.
Good wishes for your surgery and that the heat wave is soon over! It has been a very warm year and it does not promises well …
Best wishes on the new knee from another melting Texan.
Best wishes for your surgery!
I will happily trade weather with you! Hope tomorrow goes perfectly.
Good luck with the surgery! :^)
I know what you mean about the weather: it’s 90° right now where I am. Sheesh. Best wishes on your surgery tomorrow!
Hope it goes well!
Good luck with your surgery! And take my weather, please!
I am wearing UNUM LAVS and I am incense-a-rific.
I am brewing up some MF Mandalay–a spicy lightly floral tea.
It is a wonderful scent, but the only one I developed a rash from
Went to Sephora, and now smell of Nirvana Rose and Vanille Insensee (one on each hand). Proud of myself for resisting the temptation of $25 packaging as these are not really me. But I would certainly very much like to smell them both on my co-workers.
Inspired by others’ posts, I am in Chanel No 22, not a no-brainer for me but something I enjoy tremendously when it’s what I want. Mine is the spray cologne from a bottle old enough to be powered by propellant (which is also nearly empty
)
Had a really good perfume day yesterday – Habanita L’Esprit for a long day of appointments and running errands, and Mona di Orio Musc in the evening. I feel like I smell good every day but it’s rare that I pick exactly the right thing for my mood and whatever else is going on. Yesterday everything lined up perfectly.
You smell fabulous. I agree No. 22 is perfectly perfect when it’s what I want. It’s the only scent I’ve ever worn that invaded my dreams and woke me in the night.
I’m dashing to find my sample! Better than a nightmare, I hope!
I love really good perfume days
It was foggy outside this morning and so was my head. I forgot to mention my SotD is Après l’Ondée. I like this one when it is sunny, too.
I slept fine, but I just had to set the alarm to get up early to drive over the hill in CA to meet a friend for breakfast. Now I’m stuffed and tired. About to shower and might go for No. 19 Poudre.
What’s really cute about hanging out with my Dad is that he likes the Hallmark Channel. It’s been kind of relaxing to watch wholesome cheesiness.
It’s a great channel. We watch it all the time.
When I get home, I’ll check it out more often.
The Grand Central tunnels towards Park had these adverts with Countdown to Christmas by Hallmark.
Spritzed a bunch of Beige this morning, momentarily forgetting the office perfume grump, but fortunately it was its usual well-behaved self and offended no one at the office.
Its really a no brainer to wear the same fragrance three days in a row. This is totally unlike me. Continuing to wear Chergui.
That’s a great one for a hat trick!????
Truedat. You smell fabulous!
Went to a museum with friends today and wore a touch of Amouage Beloved. The feeling one gets from wearing this perfume is worthy of the name.
You smell wonderful.
Beautiful!
SOTD is Shalimar. I’m compulsively sniffing even more than usual since it seems to momentarily distract me from the fact that my neck and back are out of whack.
Oh boy. I hope it feels better soon! At least you smell great!
Thanks! A good scent can go a long way toward making one feel better, I think. I may end up sporting Eau de Icy Hot later tonight, though. ????
Oh no! I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks! It’ll all loosen up and feel OK fairly soon…
SOTD: DS & Durga Spirit of the Glen from a sample. Sniffed up close on the skin, I didn’t love it, but every now and then during the day I’d catch something that smelled very nice –and I think it might have been me!
My week of losses (minor, I realize, compared to many of yours) was capped when I arrived home tonight to find that a beautiful old maple tree right behind my house had been cut down!!! It was on communal property in my townhouse development, and I suppose it was axed because of a (much needed) drainage project. But I didn’t know beforehand that it was to be cut and I feel so betrayed and bereft without it…
Ugh, that’s a bummer!
It is sad to lose a beautiful old tree. I am forever arguing with my husband about leaving our beautiful old trees alone so I understand. What is it with men and chainsaws? ????
I bet you weren’t the only person disappointed in the callousness of whomever cut it down without notifying the homeowners!
Late again….I’m off my perfume game lately!
SOTD: Not a thing. Had to run out the door when daughter remembered she had pep band practice this morning! LOL Got my Allure monthly beauty box yesterday, and got a nice mini size of Omnia Crystalline, so maybe I’ll dig that out of my bag in a minute!
