Rabbit rabbit rabbit! Welcome to November. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing a drop of vintage Caron Farnesiana. Tea at the moment is Kusmi Zoubrovka.
Reminder: 11/4 will be Peace Out Friday — wear a fragrance that brings / gives peace. Suggested by Lovestosmellgood.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Royal Worcester Wrendale Hare Teapot is £40 at John Lewis.
I keep miscalculating when I should comment on NST, but looks like I’ve gotten it right this time! I wore Commodity Tea today to match the temples and gardens of Kyoto. It’s not among their best, I think, but not offensive either. My sister seemed to enjoy it when she caught a sniff.
what are you smelling in Japan? Hope you are having a wonderful trip
Actually, my strongest scent experience so far has been the sickly sweet smell of Tokyo Disneyland (which I otherwise loved – a total surprise). But I hope for more tea and incense in Kyoto ????
Kyoto is gorgeous! Enjoy!
There are so many beautifukt olaces here. We are staying in a rented 200 year old town house – very simple and elegant.
God, so sorry for the typos…
I hope you are having a great trip! BTW, I just finally read your comments on “the book” and couldn’t agree more. Also, great work outfits!
I am! And thank you for reading – I’m sincerely glad you agree.
SOTD: Room 237 (Bruno Fazzolari). Hoping this wears off a bit before I go to the gym after lunch 😉
You can always scrub 🙂
Scrubbed shortly after I posted. Will try this again in cooler weather, these mid-80’s temps will be around a couple more days and then highs in the low 70’s, still not normal for November.
We are supposed to get warm weather again tomorrow too. Definitely not normal for November.
I find the idea of this one much more interesting than the execution. Or maybe there are just some things I don’t want to smell like!
Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit
31RC for Peace
Excellent Peace choice!
LOL!
I finally remembered to the rabbit thing this month.
Theorema Fendi EDP, orange, spices, osmanthus, cream, and wood. Fantastic! !!!!!
Enabler pins to hannahmom and cazaubon. Nothing like spending $$$ on the phone, drinking coffee. Amber oil, rose oil and Au Coeur du Desert, on their way!
Carpe Diem y’all! 🙂
to say.
I caved on the Amber oil as well. I already have the Rose oil, but I did add some samples of Au Coeur du Desert.
I now have a coupon for more than 50% off a Tauer Discovery set, if anyone would like it.
The rose oil has been a cool weather favourite here in the soon-to-be-frozen wastelands of rural NE Canada. I cannot wait till the amber arrives. I am already planning what scents to wear with it.
Lucky you!
Nice haul
I am thinking of blind buying the rose oil and the amber one. Maybe the amber is too risky? What doyou think?
Hello Gabriela!
It is cold weather here in the USA, and I haven’t even
turned the heat on in the house that makes my skin itchy and dry.
I like to lotion after a shower, but sometimes there is no time.
A fragrance oil is a quick way to moisturize and scent my body when I’m running late. Which is always. LOL
I’m sure you could swap it if you find it doesn’t suit you.
Cheers !!
Thank you Bear! Sounds lovely…
Thanks for the love, Everyone !!!
Ivoire de Balmain. There will be precious little peace here at school with all the little darlings hopped up on post-Halloween little sleep and too much sugar. Please don’t let it rain so we have to have an indoor recess.
I wish you sunny weather 🙂
That would be my worst nightmare- a ton of kiddies hyped up on sugar! God bless you for your patient and fortitude ✌????️
The grade 4’s were very nearly levitating.
I think if you can handle T-Rex, you can handle an AUDITORIUM full of sleep-deprived kids on a sugar high 😉
My 10th grade students were in post-sugar high comas this morning. It was painful to try to get them thinking.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit! I LOVE this Friday’s community project. Not only am I stressed out about the future of America, but I am also stressed out about the future of Koyel. I could do with some peace. We all could!
I started out the day with Bombay Bling, which was an enormous blast of a gin-mango cocktail. Just a little while ago, I was thinking about how I can’t wait for my Tauer rose oil to arrive and how I can’t wait to try Au Coeur du Désert, so I put on some Lonesome Rider. I don’t understand how barbecue sauce isn’t listed in the notes. I smell like I took my fancy, expensive leather bag and lovingly smeared its insides with some of that fancy, expensive barbecue sauce you can buy at Whole Foods.
I so agree about this upcoming community project scent! I feel quite frazzled lately and am giving careful consideration to Fridays scent. Sadly, I will be working, so any semblance of peace is unlikely. =(
Twins! Also sampling Lonesome Rider though it isn’t in BBQ sauce territory for me (that requires Celtic Fire from Union)
Now I want to try that one!
Mother Julian of Norwich. :^)
All will be well and all will be well all manner of things will be well. That is a mantra for the moment.
Love her! She has been so influential to me.
Triplets! There’s been so much Tauer buzz lately that I felt I should wear a Tauer to celebrate the release of his newest scent. However, my confession is that LADDM does not smell good with my chemistry, so I chose Lonesome Rider, which is perfect for me.
I guess Texas is a better fit for me than Morocco? I don’t get any barbecue sauce notes, but I do get a vague conifer deep in the background that makes me purr.
Lonesome Rider smells like diesel fuel on dirty coveralls to me, but LADDM and Lonestar Memories are wonderful. Go figure, eh?
Oh I can relate somewhat, worried about the election and stressing out about the future of Mariann.
SOTD Hermes Eau des Merveilles. Beautiful, simple, relaxing and another FB that I just finished. That gives me peace for sure!
Nice! Will you replace it?
I will for sure 😉
Your devotion to Eau des Merveilles in inspiring. 🙂
You smell great! That’s one of my favorites. As you said, it’s beautiful, as is that tilted round bottle! I was your cousin yesterday in L’Ambre.
Amouage Epic today. I’m not sure that its particularly peaceful but it sure smells wonderful.
Epic is peaceful to me!
Jean-Louis Scherrer today.
Damp, earthy day – perfect for this lovely chypre.
I have to find some of this as it sounds amazing.
SOTD is Felanilla by PG. My decant was buried in the depths of my vegetable bin in the fridge, which is where I keep most of my perfumes. It was mentioned recently, so I busted it out and I smell wonderful!
Off to the dentist to pay the whopping bill my insurance company declined to pay. UGH!
BTW, that must be the cutest teapot ever. That poor rabbit looks like he’s having a bad day and needs a STRONG cup of JOE!
That is horrible, Deva! To cheer you, I thought I’d mention that Wrendale Designs makes greeting cards. I’ve been the lucky recipient of a kitten and a bunny. https://www.wrendaledesigns.co.uk/greeting-cards/
I like your idea of keeping perfumes in the vegetable crisper. Maybe when I have a job, I’ll get a wine/perfume cooler. They seem like they’d appreciate similar temperatures.
Yeah, I’m a little worried about that rabbit.
I shared your concern.
Ha! I thought he looked like he just rolled out of bed. Or “she”.
I’m wearing SL De Profundis. Only have a decant of this one, as I didn’t love it enough to shell out for a full bottle. But I always remember it around All Saints’ day. It’s got something dark and morbid about it. Not sure if peaceful, but it’s got a quietness about it that I like. It’s good to wear De Profundis on a cold day.
It’s dark all the time now that the clocks have gone back. I wish we didn’t have to bugger up our biological clocks twice a year for the uncertain benefit of more daylight. There is exactly the same amount of daylight – not enough.
I am not looking forward to time change either.
You smell great and peaceful!
What?! When the clocks go back? I totally missed it ????
November 6th…..
Blech. Had totally forgotten.
They went back in the EU on 30 October. I am old enough to remember when that wasn’t coordinated and we were on the same time as Germany for a week or two.
One year I was on a train that just stopped in Mannheim for an hour and the clock stopped with it, so we resumed to arrive on schedule. It tickled me to imagine how they would instantaneously hustle the train an hour down the track for the Spring time change! :^)
I think you smell amazing.
I’m sampling Parfums Del Rae Coup de Foudre.
I thought Coup de Foudre was gorgeous, but it SUPER annoyed me with the way that the sillage shrank after an hour. (I just generally hate that “first it’s loud, then it’s quiet” effect wherever it comes up, makes it hard to dose and I don’t like to keep spritzing. I got rid of a bottle of Guerlain Voile d’Ete because it did that, even though I thought it smelled great. MAN, just either radiate, or don’t! I don’t know how much to wear!)
I can get heavy-handed with lighter things, and I never know when to stop with even heavier things, so I get you. The scent is OK, but it has turned into a skin scent.
Hello NST’ers. My scent of the day is Sheiduna from Puredistance. It’s quite similar to last year’s White texturally at least. I’d say if you liked White then this isn’t too dissimilar.
I was wondering about this one, since it got mentioned in the Luckyscent e-mail. I like White fine, but not enough to seek out another super expensive variation on it. Thanks for saving me money. 😉
I have SSS Amber incense on one arm and Tauer incense extreme on the other. On my way to the hairstylist who also loves perfume but doesn’t sample extensively, so I like to give her whiffs of various perfumes I think she might like. I prefer the SSS but I suspect she might go for the Tauer.
Narciso for today. Just as fluffy as a cloud and how much more peaceful could that be?
Good choice! Maybe I’ll wear Narciso tomorrow (I have the EDP).
SOTD is Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur, which today is equal parts leather and flowers. Someone here the other day mentioned wearing it but not getting much leather – I’m endlessly fascinated with how a fragrance can be so different from one person to another, from one season to another, or just from one day to another.
I do really need to try that one.
I think you’d like it, worn at the right time of course. It’s kind of an all-season fragrance, but not really an all-mood one, if you see what I mean.
You smell lovely!
Thanks Natalya!
I recently got a decant of this one–just before Portia wrote a review on Perfume Posse! Must be something in the air. When I tried it out of a tiny sample, I got leather and flowers. The decant is much dryer. Not sure if it’s an age issue or dosage. Will keep trying.
I will say that the sprayer on the bottle dispenses an extremely fine mist, and it does come across as a rather dry scent – not sure now whether that’s indicative of the sprayer or the formulation itself. I love the dryness, myself, being prone to bursting into damp hormonal flames lately. 🙂
Continuing on my peace=essential oils theme-
SOTD- “Sweet Pipe”-an essential oil blend of vanilla, tobacco leaf absolute, “strawberry” isolate, jasmine, orange, sandalwood, cocoa absolute, opopanax, Egyptian rose and White Lotus amber
Boy do I need peace today…insane morning….and crap I forgot to wake up saying rabbit, rabbit , rabbit……
Is that one of your own blends? Sounds delish!
It is…I am working now on making a dent in my essential oils collection so I will be wearing my concoctions all week long !
This sounds amazing. Btw on your recommendation I got Osmanthus Absolu – yet to blend it with carrier oil as you are right – it is super concentrated. So an enabler pin in your tiara 🙂
Ohhh!!!! How exciting!!!! I am always happy to hear when someone follows through on my essential oil recommendations! and as you get to know osmanthus absolute you may get a bit more daring and try some blending …maybe some yuzu for the top and frankincense in the base? or whatever else tickles your fancy 🙂 !!!
Wearing Blackberry & Bay by Jo Malone today. Needed a pick-me-up fragrance. This might do the trick!
Hope it worked for you!
Gloomy day, and the leaves are coming off the trees now. Perfect weather for Magie Noire, which I think is AMAZING but only seem to wear in November.
I love vintage, though I did not get along with the new version at all. I should wear it some time soon.
I have one very-vintage mini (in the gold, orange, russet and black packaging), which is another reason I only wear it sparingly.
Hey Mals – are you writing this Nov.? Good luck/inspiration if so. 🙂
SOTD TF Shanghai Lily which was a lovely surprise add-on from a swapper. One of my favorite of the TFs so nice to have another decant.
I was just at a Nordstrom’s and so sniffing TF and I have to say that although pricey, a lot of them are really really good. I have a crush on Cafe Rose at the moment, but didn’t buy it. Just ordered a small decant to see if I want to take the plunge.
I like a bunch of them for about an hour. I found that some just fell really flat after that or had a dry down I didn’t like. I liked Cafe Rose which seemed to stay the same all the way through.
This sounds right. I like Cafe Rose because it got better and better over time. Neroli Portofino doesn’t develop, but stays nice. Others haven’t gotten a full workout! And the new Vert group is sadly doing nothing for me.
I love Cafe Rose and ended up buying a large decant on ebay for a much more reasonable price than decants elsewhere. In case you want to go the same route…
Thanks for the tip!
Byredo 1996, which I’m incredibly thrilled to have gotten a decant of during the swapmeet
Yum.
SOTD and 2nd ‘peaceful perfume’ of the week is Grossmith “Amelia”, which smells lovely going on (although too feminine for my tastes) but has no lasting power. I’ll need to dose myself with something else for the afternoon.
Top: Neroli and Osmanthus;
Mid: Rose, Peony, Jasmine, and Amber;
Base: Patchouli, Sandalwood, Vetiver and Cashmere Musks.
Happy Monday! Sprayed what I thought was a Sephora sample of Chanel No 5 L’Eau but turned out to be Nirvana Rose. Took my brain a few minutes to figure out what I was smelling, which was actually fun!
I am wearing Nobile 1942 Rudis. Despite some negative comments on basenotes, I find this to be a gorgeous scent. Red wine and worn leather.
Yes it is a great scent. I think you and I are the only two that like it
I love Rudis, and it will be great for the colder weather we’re getting now. :^)
Yay, 3 of us 🙂 I only got a decant but that red bottle is gorgeous
Sounds intriguing to me!
I am at work and not feeling very peaceful right now. I am wearing Chanel No.22 extrait.
I do hope the day settles down for you!
Your day is bound to get better w/ n. 22 extrait!
I hadn’t seen those Wrendale designs before – love, love, love. Their “what a hoot” mug is wonderful, too.
Wearing Boyfriend Dry Oil today. So unseasonably warm here in Denver, it’s hard to figure out what to wear clothing-wise.
Happy Tuesday!
we are having odd weather too in the NE
I’m so tired of the warm days in Denver. Give me Fall!
All Saints Day.
1) Will be constructing a memorial for my mom and sister today. Nothing fancy, candles and flowers around my Mary.
2) In JM Oud and Bergamont (from a sample). A light incens-y scent with citrus and powder. Refreshing and very layerable but Belle Du Soir (RIP) does this better.
That is a great idea, I should have done a memorial today.
Happy Día de los Muertos! I love the idea of remembering and honoring family and friends who have passed on…
SOTD: Angel Innocent.
God bless all the teachers who are trying to motivate my 3 kids today….They are sugar hungover, tired, and a little grouchy. There’s a special place in Heaven for teachers! 🙂
I agree with this idea completely! I have a gold bangle that says “momento mori” and silver one that says “ars moriendi.” Everyday I say a little prayer for the people I have loved and lost. Some think its morbid, but to me, its a life affirming and respectful way on acknowledging those who have gone before me. Memories are really the only proof we have that our loved ones actually lived and walked the earth. I find this habit very life affirming and respectful.
In Bond-T by Sammarco. Getting. Lot of no -sweet chocolate – they way my house smells when I melt 100% dark chocolate (going on a memory here as I have not done it quite some time). This really reminds me of Borneo 1831
You smell good! This was actually the perfume by way of which I came to “get” Borneo, though they are not exactly very close to me. I’d love to get me some Borneo now, too.
Borneo is a toughie 🙁 There is a dude on basenotes splitting it (no affiliation whatsoever) at about $4 per ml, I am debating getting that one and some of the other bell jar decants… It almost feels like a travesty to get Uncle Serge in a decant, bit those bell jars are so out of my price range….
At least I could get Bond-T for a discount price 🙂
How? Where? A discount website that I did not know about????
I just asked nicely. Really. Have no idea why it worked, perhaps, he just launched it at the time.
You should fly to Paris on vacation and stop by the mothership. The amount you save from buying multiple bottles will pay towards your airfare. The more you buy, the more you save on airfare.
I haven’t smelled this one yet, but you sound like you smell just wonderful.
Box of Eels FTW!
And you probably do 🙂
I’m wearing Thierry Mugler Supra Floral today. It’s pretty… kind of in the vein of Chanel No. 19 and Silences.
And I got not a single trick-or-treater last night. Not. A. One.
More candy for you 🙂
Yeah.. but it’s a lot of candy.
We did not get any either – we live on a very dimly lit street. However, there are a few blocks in our little town that get all the trick-o-treaters. People living there put up major productions – there is a dude who works at Pixar, so his house was Gotham city 2 years ago, Jurassic park last year and Star Wars this year. The house was decorated like one of the planets, with all the characters present (storm troopers, sand troopers, Chubaka, Darth Vader, etc etc – I do not know all the characters there), smoke, music – it was a production. My son who is a fan did not want to leave the place.
Ah man that sounds pretty cool. I live in a townhome complex, and I thought at least I’d get the kids who actually live here, but I guess they either didn’t trick-or-treat or they went somewhere else.
Chanel 19 EDT, not the most weather appropriate, but since I
just received my bottle in the mail, this is what I am wearing. No more purchases for me until next year, I think…
You know decants do not count towards the purchases, 🙂
Ha-ha-ha! Perfumista’s math!
Still slightly migraining so I’m just wearing Andy Tauer’s rose oil, which is soothing. Anyone of you already received the amber oil and if yes, what is it like?
I also smell faintly of vintage Emeraude, I found an enormous decanter bottle for a very good price. The previous owner sent the juice in a separate bottle to make sure no leaking would occur, and it didn’t, but I had to pour it back in its original bottle. All went well, just a minute drop was spilled on my hand.
It smells lovely.
I hope you nip the migraine in the bud.
Galop for me today, and finding this scent easy-breezy, and peaceful too.
That poor rabbit looks frazzled, almost like he stuck his foot in an electrical outlet. 🙁
I liked Galop in just this way too.
Shangra La today, for no particular reason.
Yeah, what’s with the frazzled rabbit? He looks like I feel.
Husband had surgery last week (he’s mending just fine) so life’s been a bit frazzly around here. Settling down now. I’m working from home for a few days so trying to make a dent in Mount Sample.
SOTM is Aedes Grenade or whatever it’s called. Don’t think this will make it to my FB list. Probably won’t make it til lunch, actually.
Oh no! Glad to hear he’s on the mend!
Fast recovery to your husband and the best wishes to both of you!
Rabbit rabbit rabbit! I’m in Fracas today, because beauty begets peace. 🙂 It’s quieter than usual — maybe my nose was overwhelmed by my liberal use of Black Vines yesterday? I do have a meeting this morning, so we’ll see if anyone comments…
Mmm. Love Fracas.
Everything has been turning cloying on me lately, so I’ve been wearing the unobtrusive and rather linear Safran Troublant for the past few days. It’s sweet, but from my sample it’s mild and consistent. I just can’t deal with surprises right now!
That means it fits perfectly for the community project!
I’m wearing Stash today and it’s playing tricks on me. First I smell it, then I don’t, then I smell it….
I am commando today because I am losing the fight against the upper respiratory virus or whatever is going on. I am home sick from work. I pawed through my entire collection and everything just smells wrong.
What do you wear when your sick? Besides Vick’s vapo-rub?
Maybe a scented body lotion?
I recently found that Apres l’Ondee works for me when I not feeling well. It is comforting. It is short lived, it doesn’t overwhelm. Eau de Cologne is nice too.
Oh dear, do feel better!
On All Saints Day I’m sending a prayer for all my dear family members who are now in the blue kingdom in the sky.
We decorated the grave, lit up the candles and prayed together. Needed a perfume in the mood. Atelier Cologne Silver Iris did the trick.
I had a bit of a rough night with a breakup, so I’m pretending it’s actually fall weather and wearing my favorite – Coco Chanel. At least it’s ten degrees cooler than yesterday!
Also wishing I had that bunny to cuddle with. I had them as pets for years. 🙂
Sorry for your breakup…if it’s any consolation, you smell great! Now that it’s November, I need to break out my bottle as well.
So sorry!
I’ve burnt dinner 2 nights in a row, so I’m happily munching on an A&W mamma burger right now.
SOTD is Heure Exquise.
Are there an A&W restaurants in the USA? I’d love to try one.
I think it’s just in Canada. They used to have drive-ins which I loved when I was a kid.
Yes, there are- at least in the Midwest. At ours they hand you a chilled mug and you can pour your own root beer from a “tap.” It’s delicious!
Oh, my! That is really cool.
They’re all over the US. I always thought it was an American operation until I just now looked it up. Apparently it’s Canadian. Whaddya know.
I’ve never seen them. I’ll have to find their locations.
We have one in my area too. Tthe waitresses used to wear roller skates many years ago. 🙂
SL Un Bois Vanille. This is a nice vanilla and I will enjoy my sample but I don’t think I need to own it.
70 and sunny here today! The very definition of unseasonably warm, and it’s awesome???? Happy November 1st!
I blind bought UBV based on some reviews. Turns out that I’m not a huge fan of coconut in my perfumes. It is a nice scent though.
Oh wow! I don’t get any coconut on my skin ( I don’t think????). It’s long gone by this time of the day, I need to see if I can smell that the next time I wear it!
My SOTD is SL’s Five O’clock Gingembre.
Yum!
Mmm, just grabbed Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina Eleganza on clearance at TJMaxx. Crisp floral, patchouli, and a touch of almond. Cloudy and cold today; this is my sunshine.
Nice find!
Morning, NST. My posts are always late, because my early morning today is mid-afternoon yesterday for most of you, and of course while I’m in Oz, I’m 2 hours later than usual. I missed Halloween completely–it seems even less remarked here than at home; All Saints likewise went by me without my noticing. I’ve finally surfaced into the week and it’s just a plain Wednesday now. We’re in Hobart, about to make our way back to lovely Launceston, and from there, late tomorrow afternoon, to Melbourne. I’ve loved everything about Tasmania, but won’t be sorry to go to the mainland, simply because I’m tired of packing and moving on every day. Continuing with my Chanel fortnight, I am wearing the new number 5 L’Eau. It’s lovely for travelling: unobtrusively pretty, undemanding, fresh, combines well (oddly enough) with the pervasive smell of eucalypts, honeysuckle and sea. I don’t think I’ll buy it for myself, just because there are other things I want more, but it would be a brilliant “gateway ” gift for someone starting out. I’m thinking of my great niece, turning 15 in January, very feminine in a tomboy-ish way. I gave her Noa a year or so back: I’m thinking L’Eau could be her first “grown up” scent. I love being a great aunt!
Goodness, what a lot of writing about nothing much at all! My inner Waterdragon is drivelling! I think I’m missing you guys….
Wearing Etro Shaal Nur which fits this week’s theme well. Am also testing some goodies that just came in the mail: YSL Champagne and Au Coeur du Desert. Initial impressions of the latter is that it’s less dry than the original and smoother – almost creamy.
Hmmmm….less dry. Thanks for your impressions.
Midday Kenzo UFO from the other thread. It wears closer to the skin than I’d like, but lasts.
And you smell great! Wish I had that nifty bottle.
Late here and in the way home from a fondue dinner. Used up my sample of OJ Woman today and I can still smell if after a gym class and the aforementioned fondue. Its definitely sticking around. Unfortunately there’s a note that I also find in some other scents that I don’t like. I think its the Iso Super? It doesn’t seem to bother me in some perfumes, so maybe its the amount.
Starting the peace out perfume project early in Aftelier Ancient Resins and Unum Lavs. Frankincense and myrrh heaven.
I never tried Lavs but I luurve Ancient Resins. That combination sounds delicious.
SotD = Chanel No. 5 parfum because why not?
The hare teapot is adorable and of the type that led to my teapot collecting “problem” many years ago. Glad I gave that up, although I guess I could stash perfume inside teapots.
Posting late … just on my way home!
SOTD = Rania J. Ambre Loup
Warm ambery vanillic tonka with pipe tobacco without tobacco listed in the notes.
I will need to wear a great peace out fragrance for the rest of the week as I feel like strangling someone at work and I’ll leave it at that.
No time to post today. I wore LAdDM and it was lovely. Also, I seriously love that teapot.
Fragrant dreams Nstrs…
