Happy Hump Day, and happy National Pumpkin Day! (And sorry I'm late, I quite overslept.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm on day three of Halloween treats, with Prada Candy.
Reminder: 10/28 will be Treat Friday — wear a fragrance that reminds you of candy. Suggested by Happy888cat.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the (used) Prada orange patent wedge sandals are $155 at TheRealReal consignment store.
Fragrant Greetings…
Rose Delight body oil
not sure what perfume I would want to match..thinking of Amouge Lyric or Dia
You smell wonderful, even if you don’t put anything else over the oil!
thanks Robin. I haven’t put anything else on I have been busy running around with the little ones
Agree it’s a complete perfume in itself. You do smell great!
Encre Noire Sport (Lalique). I think I’m done with this fragrance, time to move on. Love the original, and just ordered some A L’Extreme.
Can you compare the Sport to the original? How about the original to A l’Extrème? (The original is the only one I’ve tried, and I love that one.)
The Sport version has a slug of citrus, and the smoky facet is gone or toned way down. Haven’t sampled the Extreme version yet so cannot comment on it.
Oof, that sounds like it’s not worth my time. Thanks!
I didn’t know there was a Sport version. I absolutely LOVE Encre Noire. To me it is the closest thing to wearing Vetiver essential oil – which I do – often.
Ditto on the original, absolutely love it.
I loved this fragrance too until I developed a sensitivity to Iso E Super and could not enjoy it anymore. I wear vetiver essential oil and am actively looking for a replacement for beautiful Encre Noire.
Eating some Danish chocolate covered mocha beans and wearing Serge Lutens Chergui. This is a gorgeous sweet tobacco, ambery and smoky scent with a beautiful powdery drydown. Lots of coumarin. Elegant and comforting for a cold day like today. Hope this combo keeps me awake at work, at least, during the morning hours.
Twins????
Oo, I think Im going to wear this tomorrow
I would like some of your treat that you are eating..
Triplets 😀
And its four for the win!! We smell great today!
Neonatura Cocoon by Yves Rocher. Vanilla, dusty cocoa powder and bristly patchouli, the simplest thing in the world, but it’s incredible.
I really like that one–you smell fantastic.
Guerlain Metallica for me today
Thanks to SicilianNC for reminding me of their sweetness wearing the new Nirvanas combined (Rose & Bourbon) topped off with By the Fireplace to counter the sweet…three more samples DONE!
I really need to get to the mall to try the Rose and Bourbon Nirvanas. This is a must-do. I’ve heard they are very nice.
I happen to like them but I have read that others think they might be a bit too sweet…go to Sephora and have samples made…..for freeeee!!!!
Bourbon got me into trouble. The nice young woman at Fossil complemented me in it, which *caused me* to lay my eyes on a $300 cognac colored leather work bag I fell in love with. Maybe for Christmas.
you had me at “cognac colored”
Oh, I need to try layering the Nirvanas while I’ve still got samples!
Frapin 1270 again for me
The not very Halloweeny, but definitely treaty, smell of sugared almonds today. Jour de Fete by L’Artisan.
I almost wore that one today. So good!
Inspired by Annikky, I am wearing Trayee today and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Heh, inspiration travels. Gonna dig out my Trayee out as well tonight!
This morning, I too put on some Trayee, mostly because I needed a hug. I’ve stayed at home all day to write my thesis far from labmates, so I got a chance to go to the post office and pick up one of my swaps.
I’ve got some Bottega Profumiera Shardana on one wrist. In theory, there’s sandalwood in there, but the stinky seawater is covering that up. I think Epice Marine may be the only sea scent for me. My other wrist has the most glorious Dries van Noten, which is warm and spectacular.
Ok, back to writing this thing. Ugh. Can I eat more chocolate instead?
Oh I meant to add, I think the SA who told me l’Arlésienne is being taken off the market was telling me dirty lies. I think l’Occitane just repackaged it, just like they did with Pivoine Flora and Fleur d’Or et Acacia. I got some ads for the new, repackaged l’Arlésienne, and it’s certainly more chic now. Oh well, tant mieux.
YES by all means eat some chocolate (says the person who ate four slices of pizza last night and was eyeballing slice no 5!)
and , by the way, took the time to look up the meaning of your name, Deva’s name and my own name….pretty interesting 🙂 !!!)
Good luck with your thesis!
Mmmm I could go for some pizza. Unfortunately, tonight’s designated dinner is salad.
I like learning the meanings behind names. It’s fortunate I sing! My parents couldn’t have been sure of that a priori 🙂
Thanks!
You have the go-ahead to eat more chocolate from me also! I had a breakfast very high in calories — two BIG slices of French bread dipped in olive oil, and I’m considering a third slice 🙂
Yum….delicious and healthy (with the olive oil!) I also like to add turmeric and pepper to the olive oil for extra health benefits….and use that as a dipping sauce for bread
Mmm…good idea
eat some chocolate!
I just ate a nice handful of chocolate covered cherries for you, hope it helped 🙂
Thanks, it did 🙂 NST is so full of chocolate support!
It seems like this week I am finally catching up with old “cold weather” fragrances I’ve not worn since last year. SOTD is just a dab of Amouage Memoir Woman. It’s like sitting next to a large fire in some totally awesome wood paneled room with leather chairs and suede sofa and books and a nice cognac and cashmere wrap all rolled into one great smell.
You forgot the fur rug. 😉
You smell great!
🙂
Love your description!
Thanks!
That’s such a lovely mental picture and accurate description. You smell great.
Well today is another cold day, I am actually wearing a winter coat with hat and scarf! To keep warm I have spritzed myself very very lavishly with Tauerville Rose Flash. I am enveloped in the scent of deep, rich, warm, deep rose and I laugh at the cold – begone! Now for some chocolate.
A winter coat! Ack.
I can relate – it was -4C with the wind chill this morning in Montreal.
Someone yesterday mentioned Tabac Blond, and that’s where I went this morning. So good.
It was me 🙂
And you smelled gorgeous, of course! Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
Raining cats & dogs this morning, opted for some sunny Romanza. Can’t believe it’s almost November.
Oh that’s a good one! I got to try it from a care package sent to me by a fragrant fairy…it is indeed warm , fuzzy and sunny 🙂 !!
Ciel de GUM Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Cinnamon and amber. Fantastic! !!
Breakfast o’ Champions, broccoli with Sriracha Sauce and half an Italian hoagie. Double fantastic! !!
Carpe Diem y’all! !!!
😀
Smelling mahvelous, Bear. Have to break this one out soon.
And speaking of sriracha, recommend Eat Well, Embrace Life’s zesty sriracha carrot hummus. I try not to breathe near anyone after consuming, though:)
Thanks for the recommendation, galbanumgal!
Garlic is manna IMHO,
funky breath be d@mn#d !
LOL
Sriracha Sauce is one of man’s best inventions. I use it on nearly everything.
Speaking of breakfast, who am I kidding buying a muffin in the morning – this is a cupcake minus the frosting! What happen to real muffins?
you have to make them yourself 🙁
If you put some Sriracha sauce on it, it’s breakfast????
Were there ever “real” muffins? Haven’t they always been cupcakes disguised as food? Kind of like today’s greek yogurt is ice cream you feel good about eating? 😉
Your post reminds me of a muffin shop that was on Haight & Ashbury in the late 80s that had the best bran muffins ever. I’ve never been able to find any as good, including ones I’ve made. Chewy top, moist with tons of texture from the bran, and loaded with raisins. Delicious and probably well over 600 calories each.
Lush Rose Jam! Because jam. I wish Lush made Fig Jam to match, I’d just never get out of the shower.
OH, fig jam, what a great idea!
Try Diptyque Fig. It is amazing!
Will try to find that one – thanks for the recommendation!
Fig Jam is a great idea! I can think of a whole series of “jam” focused products for them.
Osmanthus Jam!
I’m wearing what is fast becoming my favorite L’Artisan, of my admittedly small collection of L’Artisan samples and minis – Timbuktu.
It’s one of my favourites from my ever growing full bottle L’Artisan collection (26!). You smell great.
26??? wow!
We get on like a house on fire. I love L’Artisan.
I love L’Artisan too !
Orchidee Blanche is one of my favorites.
I’m taking a quick second to actually post today instead of just thinking about it. The cousins are descending on Mom’s place this coming weekend for the unofficial annual get-together and hunting season opener so I’m doing things that have been put off and cleaning/organizing/sorting for their arrival. Today I will (hopefully) finish trimming that huge rose bush in the front and clean the garage apartment. The rose in the tree is really a two person job because someone has to be on the ground waving rose canes to distract the very enthusiastic feline crew. Otherwise I’m at the top of the 12′ ladder with furry helpers swiping at my hands and face.
SOTD is Jub 25 again. I realized my little decant is disappearing and decided to wear it this week out of thrift, but have been enjoying it a ton. I thought I preferred the Men’s version but I stand corrected. I’m kicking myself for not snagging a deeply discounted bottle of this a few months ago but also wondering if it’s starting to turn and that’s why I like it so much now. I don’t remember noticing the “antique store perfume bottle” note before. Perhaps I will order a fresh sample and compare.
enjoy your time with your family
Wow, be careful on that ladder!
Thanks. I’m pretty cautious in general but am being extra careful up there. It is actually kind of nice to have a different view of the world and the birds keep visiting me. I have been swooped by an enormous raven and was checked out by a very brave black-crested titmouse earlier. He landed about a foot from my face and hopped about to see if I was a threat. So cute!
How cool!
SOTD: Petit Fracas – Fluffy tuberose cupcake (with those pretty silver pearl sprinkles)
Will be baking a pumpkin pie to celebrate Pumpkin Day!
How would you describe the difference between Fracas and Petit Fracas ??
Oh, I’d be interested to hear your comparison as well!
I seem to remember some fruit in Petit… pear? something light, anyway. More “tuberose syrup” and less of the “every white flower, plus old makeup and cold cream to remove it” kitchen sink thing that Fracas does. (I get a *ton* of orange blossom in Fracas, as well as the tuberose.) Petit F is nice, wearable, but like chiffon instead of that heavy crushed-velvet weight and luxury of Fracas.
Fracas is definitely about buttery tuberose, flowers, bouquets and yummy is not the first word to come to mind. It’s also quite powerful and “grown up”.
Petit Fracas is like the “afternoon tea party” version. Pretty and sweet. The white floral is lighter, like whipped cream and -agreeing with mals86-, syrupy. Unmistakably gourmand in comparison.
I would say they wear quite differently but both very enjoyable. 🙂
Thanks for reminding me to get some pumpkins to bake & freeze for winter baking. Going on the “errands” list.
Maybe some sweet potatoes too? 🙂 Bake and freeze well, great with roast chicken, mashed, savory or sweet… (Gosh, now I am craving some sweet potato casserole.. -going on my errands list- 😛 )
Cuir de Lancôme, just because.
Tea is an Earl Grey sort of thing by Kusmi. Ok, but not great.
I am drinking earl grey too..Blue of london by Palais des thes
Blue of Londen is very good. The Kusmi isn’t bad. It’s just that the Earl Greys I buy from a teashop in Brussels are a lot better.
I am also drinking Earl Grey but mine is the poor man’s version as I am also on a no buy with tea…Twinnings it is….
I never have no buys with tea 🙂
LOL! actually I am on a no buy with everything…only the every day essentials get purchased now…and will be for a long time 🙁 I have also unsubscribed to all sites, including Sephora and Dame Perfumery (ugh that was the hardest one to unsubscribe from!) to avoid temptation.
But hey, I can live vicariously through everyone else, right?
Of course you can. So I’ll just let you know that I had MF Black Orchid this morning, it was delicious.
Thanks, austenfan..hee!hee!
I have doctored all the Kusmi EG variations to improve them. Really they ought to hire me.
I’m not crazy about any of them either, but I think I’m just not much of an EG fan. It’s not something I ever crave. I do love Kusmi’s packaging, though.
I love Earl Greys, and I’ve tried quite a few by now.
I love the few I love — the Violette and the buffalo grass one (and even that one took a long time to grow on me) and the spearmint green. But I readily admit I keep trying more of them because of the fantastic tins.
Yep, start by persuading them to use slightly better tea 😉
You smell fantastic!
Kenzo Jungle l’Elephant, which breathed some life back into me last night, so I thought I’d wear it again. Such a surprising and unusual scent, but really great.
I love everything about that one except the drydown – that is 100% BO on my.
Maybe if I keep reapplying……
Uh-oh. To my nose, I thought the drydown was lovely in its dusty-powderiness. Now I’m a little worried my coworkers are going to start avoiding me this afternoon. 😀
I love it! It is so beautiful.
SOTD: Lovely Sheer. A really nice interpretation of the original Lovely!
oooh, thanks for the reminder that I want to find a tester of Lovely Sheer. I bet you smell very nice.
Or I could just buy a “large sample.” A full bottle is practically free using perfumath.
Retails for $24 for a 3.4oz bottle, on Amazon! BUT, I cashed in some survey rewards and paid only $14!
4 hours into wearing, I’m suddenly reminded of Chloe! (the new version). The only note in common is the amber, so don’t know why I think I smell it! 🙂
Needed something sweet and comforting this morning as there was snow on the ground when I woke up.
Il Profvmo Ambre D’or – Powdered honey and amber.
I hope Ambre D’or keeps you feeling nice and warm.
Ack! Snow? But you’re in the Maritimes, iirc? Made of tougher stuff than I!
Just outside of Halifax.
We get snow early, late, and often. That is what happens when you live in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean
And that is why I don’t. 😉
It was cold enough to snow here in Montreal but nothing materialized.
SOTD = Le Labo Vanille 44
Deliciously cozy on this chilly October day. I love the perfume and the weather. The holiday shops at Bryant Park are setting up for opening on October 29. I spied Soap and Paper Factory and I am looking forward to my sniffings there and Christmas shopping for artisanal stuff.
OOhhh! Love Soap and Paper factory! They usually have a booth in Grand Central during the holidays…I highly recommend their seasonal holiday hand creams…there is usually a vanilla one which is divine! And the Owl perfume which I just finished up in solid format (bought my mother the spray EDT of Owl last year)…
I need to stop in the Grand Central one. Thanks for the reminder! You know WE have to meet one day – I promise not to enable – MWAHAHAHAHA
“I promise not to enable” LOL! You are the queen of the enablers 🙂 !!!!
You smell terrific! And ah- I miss the city this time of year- I love seeing the window displays!
It’s only a plane ride away but boo hiss on the red eye if you want to go non-stop!
It is a lovely crisp sunny day today. I also look forward to all those outdoor kiosks. I like the one in Union Square, too.
Is tbe Union Square one there e everyday?
It is for a certain period of time. I don’t think it’s open yet, though.
Twins! You smell great!
I love this one so much, I think I will get one more wear out of my sample and then I’ll have to decide if I’m going to break down and buy a small decant…since that’s all I could ever afford!
You should join the Basenotes split. Click on my nane to get my enail address.
Not ready yet for holiday shopping!! Since I do the family Thanksgiving, that’s all I can focus on at the moment!
It’s less than a month away!
I am wearing SL Santal Majuscule today. I had never tried this and love it as much as another favorite Santal Blanc.
I was thinking the other day even though I see a lot of people during the day at work, It is very rare that I smell someone wearing something interesting, where are the perfumistas?
You probably have perfumistas at work but they are wearing tiny amounts as to keep the office friendly!
I work at a derm clinic so the people I see are the patients who come to the clinic.
…who might have been told “no scents, please,” if Mtl is anything like Vancouver doctor’s offices
no perfumistas in my office either…but there are a few that are interested in essential oils and seek me out for advice on those….
It’s rare that I ever smell anyone wearing anything. It makes me appreciate it when I smell perfume in public at all, regardless of what it is. It almost seems to be an act of open rebellion these days.
And for the record, I had 3 appointments within 4 days with my allergist a few weeks ago and smelled delicious every day I was there. Not sure whether it was appreciated or not 😉 (Interestingly, it’s one of the few offices I’ve been to lately that isn’t a “perfume-free zone.”
I am sure your perfume was appreciated, I love it a lot when someone comes in and smells good, our clinic is not a perfume free zone either, in the contrary.
SL Rousse for me today–I smell like the world’s fanciest Red Hots.
It is cool in my office today and I am drinking some hot cocoa with almond milk and peppermint marshmallows.
Ah, yes you do! I will have to wear that this week, thanks.
Ha! That’s how I think of Amouage Fate Woman.
SOTD is SL Cedre, which is a treat for me since it’s gently spiced cedar on me, and not tuberose, as many folks report. I am not a tuberose fan.
Has anyone successfully ordered perfumes from SP Parfums in Germany? I tried his Pink Patchouli yesterday and liked it, but his website won’t accept my American credit card. Is there anywhere else to buy his wares?
Feel free to discuss this with me in your next e-mail.
SOTD: another newbie from the swap meet, JM’s Dark Amber & Ginger Lily
A different take on amber, and quite nice! Love the sandalwood in this, really comes through having worn it for a few hours now.
that’s a good one! especially in cooler weather…I am thinking I might wear this one exclusively for the no -brainer week challenge…and then I will have drained another travel spray….
Yes, definitely can see this as a no-brainer.
I really like this, and have a travel spray now. Really nice year round BUT especially during cooler weather!
My travel spray is in my desk and I just doused myself with it…man, do I smell good!
You smell lovely. It really doesn’t smell like anything else. It was my only ever JM purchase and I finished the whole bottle!
Wow! That’s quite something.
My first JM was Blue Agava & Cacao which I may have swapped or sold, can’t recall. I actually love the cream of this one.
I don’t usually get too excited about JM but this one gets so much love I might have to try it. Is it similar at all to DK Gold?
I’ve never smelled that DK so couldn’t say. But the JM didn’t smell obviously of lily to me. The whole thing smelled more like some abstract ambery floral, but it’s not sweet, really, like other ambers can be.
Maybe someone else can weigh in on a direct comparison?
I’m wearing Caron Bellodgia today. I am going through my sample very quickly.
Oh goodness, Bellodgia is so great. I have a sample I’ve been sniffing for a few years. I dab some on when I’m feeling brave.
PSA Essenza Nobile in Germany has Guerlains (SDV etc) at 200 euros. Post VAT discount and conversion it comes to roughly $180. They will ship to US but you have to contact them via email as they cannot send them online. They take PP as payment.
DARN IT CLARISSA!!! I had just convinced myself to be content with what I have…….????
LOl! See what ai meant when I said clarissa is the Supreme Enabler? That’s about a 30% discount! Unheard of!!!
Such a hard decision today since I have so many new things to try out.
I went with Dita von Teese. Glad to have found this up for swap. Reunited and it feels so good…????
Peaches and Herb? Hee, hee ????
Neroli Outrenoir today. Second time I have worn this and it reminds me of something else, but I can’t put my finger on it. It’s annoying the bejesus out of me.
I just got a sample of this and will break it out tomorrow.
I sniffed it briefly and agree it reminded me of something I’ve worn previously…
let me know if you think of what it is!
The opening reminds me of Séville à l’Aube, then the drydown shifts it in a different direction.
interesting, I’ll have to check that one in my discovery set.
Oh, that’s so infuriating, isn’t it? Hope you figure it out!
I’m also in Prada, Robin! But I opted for Infusion de Mimosa.
Hey cousin!
I might have gone with Demeter Pumpkin Pie if I’d known about National Pumpkin Day, but I can hardly regret my No. 19, sprayed with abandon.
No revrets whatsoever. I spray No.19 lavishly as well!
Regrets!
Happy Wednesday!
It’s a day for oversleeping in Portland- lots of rain pattering on the roof makes me want to just dig in closer in bed!
SOTD: Dark Amber +Ginger Lily. I think that this, along with Stash, will be my staples for the time being!
Huge coffee, oatmeal and lots of reports to do!
I am waiting for my Stash to arrive to try this layering
I hope you like it! I find the elixir VERY agreeable for layering.
Nice! It’s kind of fun living in once scent for a while, right?
Actually, YES! I have so many samples BUT I really like that spritz when dressing that is reliable and suits me!
ugh that would be ONE Not “once”….but I gather you got my drift 🙂
I’m in Seattle and it was absolutely pouring when I woke up. It has died down a little but we’ll see how long that lasts.
In Vancouver it’s the same–quite a “traditional” October after a few mild years previous.
SOTD Gourmand Coquin. Debating if I am ready for a FB commitment
I don’t think I’ve tried this one…have to seek some out. I was googling something Guerlain-related last night and stumbled upon a board discussion of this one and people raving about it. For some reason I haven’t properly sampled the Elixirs Charnels…I’ve done the whole L’Art et la Matiere line but not the Charnels.
I think this one is fun, to me I’d just describe it by saying it’s Guerlain’s take on chocolate. (since you know Guerlain and how they typically address gourmands, that’s the gist.)
I got a decant, and I regret to say I came to like it less with time…probably, because I am not that crazy about rose, and this fragrance develops in clear stages on me, one of which is pretty much rose alone.. I think though you do like rose?
I do not get the rose in it at all (although i love love love roses). I get milk chocolate and rum. Frankly with the morning I was having today, I wish I could drink it, not just spray it!!!
Chocolate and rum are lovely in this!
Wow, I just looked it up–it sounds like it smells spectacular! And the bottle is pretty 🙂 so I vote yes!
I love it and want another bottle!
I don’t know if this will get swirched to the bulb atomizer so maybe find out and if yes, run, don’t walk to the nearest store that still has the old stock!
Yeah, that’s a good point.
I got my back-up bottle of Cuir Beluga!
Hmm, I don’t suppose you’d care to sell a split of that?
Unscented as of yet, because I am painting the half bath (powder room, if you prefer that term) and I hardly think I’d appreciate fragrance while swishing pigment around.
After shower, though, I may get out my Memoir Woman.
In Angel Muse today…
I quite like it. I daresay I am hating to love it in fact. 😉 I never wore the original Angel or was a fan of it. But this is lovely for fall…
Agreed, I really enjoy this one. You smell wonderful!
I am embarrassed to say it, but I have gone through 2 bottles of Angel in the early 2000’s 🙂 Recently I got a sample, and disliked it immensely. I smelled it on someone a few months ago and it smelled very nicely.
However, I do like the flankers – both Muse and Liqueur de Parfum.
I had a coworker who used to wear it and she smelled great, but I never liked it on me. I think it smells better to me from a distance.
Just finished my sample of Andy Tauer’s LADDM from vial- so good and so potent, I can’t imagine spraying it. Will have to get another sample.
I am getting a decant of Au Coeur du Desert which is the extrait version. I’m a little afraid of a stronger version of LADDM.
I am getting a decant of ACdD too! If it is way too potent I will transfer the juice into a vial and dab:)
Good idea! My decant will last me a lifetime.
The Au Couer du Desert in my opinion is better 🙂 – but than again, I like bold fragrances 🙂 I get more smoke from it than the original.
I just read reviews on Fragrantica, one of the reviewers mentioned amped patch- I hope it is not the case, as I cannot stand it in huge amounts. In any case it will be interesting to try.
Excellent – I am going to blind buy a bottle as soon as it is available on his site Nov. 1st.
Blind buy is no longer in my dictionary. You’re really just getting a large sample, right? And samples don’t count when Donatella comes knocking 😉
Okay, I am going for the 50ml sample then. 🙂
FIF already has it and it comes to around $150 give it a take a few dollars
Where are you guys finding these samples??
I mean, decants*
I just bought one from TPC.
I went in on a split.
All of his fragrances that I’ve tried are potent. It’s hard for me to overapply (few things project much on my skin) but I’ve actually done it with some Tauers.
Had a rare morning urge for perfume, Santal Blush. This usually strikes me as heavy on the cedar, but after trying Atelier Cedre Atlas yesterday, not so much. Have a great day, everyone.
This morning’s scent was the original Lolita Lempicka. It is actually in the front of my collection but I don’t seem to pick it up often. I had bought a bottle from Beauty Encounter blind and I figured that it was a shade over $20, so it wasn’t going to be a total waste. One of the best blind buys that I have done. I love the bottle and Tatina Sanchez in The Guide was right, it looks something out of a Tim Burton movie. Post shower, I will reapply.
Me too, bought it blind, and love the scent and the bottle.
Same and same.
Trying EDT of Coromandel on one wrist and EDP on the other, but somehow neither is doing it for me today. It is absolutely freezing in my library – I can barely type – so maybe that’s the problem. Or maybe I’m just not in the right mood. I’ll try it again another day.
Ooh interesting!- how does the edp compare to the edt?, thanks!
Someone else posted that they liked the edt better of this one, but I’m really not sure. At first I thought the edp seemed a little less sharp. It seems to have given up sooner than the edt though. All in all, I can’t make up my mind and I’m going to have to try them another day to come up with a coherent opinion.
I thought the edp felt a bit sweeter.
🙁
Wearing Kohl de Bahrein, which manages to be both grown up and caramely. So a treat, but also makes me feel like a grown up for dealing with work issues. It’s also just really lovely I think.
I love that one. To me it smells like halvah with orris butter.
Nice! I’ll wear mine for when it’s Iris for the community project.
Am I the only one who didn’t know that Profumum Roma has started releasing their scents in 18ml travel sizes? I was poking around on Luckyscent last night and saw them. Apparently LS is not carrying all of them, (at least not yet) but I saw Acqua Viva, Confetto, Vanitas, and Acqua di Sale.
SOTD is vintage Carolina Herrera. Tuberose and civet, yum!
Yep, I received an e-mail from Luckyscent a while ago about PR travel sprays, but it is tricky to find them on LS web site.
Nope, I managed to not know it either!
Excellent news! I hope Ambra Aurea shows up, probably my top amber ever but the 100 ml is just too daunting. So potent, 100 ml would last me several lifetimes!
They had only few scents in travel size and if i remember correctly Ambra Aurea was not one of them 🙁
Wow! That’s going to be wonderful and dangerous! :^)
Fumerie carried several when I was there. I bought Dulcis in Fundo in the travel spray size. Actually, with no tax, I coincidentally spent my entire vacation walking reward to the penny at Fumerie!
Sniffing Le Couvent des Minimes Eau Aimable today. It it makes me happy. Have a great day, dear NST.
You smell great. That’s one that I often use as a room spray because it lasts so well on fabrics.
Eau Aimable is surprisingly tenacious. I especially like it when is accidentally lands on my bath robe. 🙂
Is that in the yellow packaging? Everytime I try to look for this, the display at Duane Reade / Walgreens confounds my visual acuity.
Ha! Eau Aimable does come in an eye-searing yellow-orange package. The bar soap is also quite orange but oh so worth it.
Wearing Iris Nazarena today from a lovely split. It was lovely but finding it just doesn’t last on me for more than an hour.
I hope you’re recovering well from your fall!
All this week I’m trying samples that are *supposed to be* sweet treats – but are they really? Heroically I am pressing on with my dangerous quest.
SOTD is “Vanille Abricot” from Comptoir Sud Pacifique, which has kept me in sweet vanilla all day.
Treat rating: 3/5, fine for occasional fun.
If this were a sweet it would be: a Victoria Sponge Cake made with Apricot jam and dusted with vanilla caster sugar. And I have eaten one slice too many. :^)
I admire your bravery, I couldn’t (ok, wouldn’t) do it.
What’s your treat rating based on – how much you like it? on the sugar level? or something else?
Ha! Treat rating is just how much I like it, so entirely and unashamedly subjective. :^)
I’m in Azureé again, even though it’s cold and rainy here. I usualy go for patchouli for cold and rainy.
Happy Pumpkin day!
Robin, I’ve been waiting to see how long it would be before you broke out Prada Candy 🙂
I accidentally drenched myself in TF Noir de Noir late last night and it’s still going strong (and quite annoying me, actually.) I spritzed some Bvlgari Omnia over it on one wrist, which is making it more enjoyable (thanks, Regina!) It’ll be a while before these both wear off so that I can apply a proper Treat for the day. Haven’t decided where I’ll go next. Possibly SSS Cocoa Sandalwood.
I got my Chanel Egoiste decant yesterday and did a side-by-side with BdI. Totally different aside from the sandalwood. BdI is heavy on the aldehydes and then settles to a sweetish sandalwood. Egoiste has aromatic and balsamic notes built around sandalwood and rosewood. It’s more natural foresty smell to me-less perfumey. It has some sweetness but more from the balsams. I like both.
I need to try that SSS. Do you like it?
Late reply, but yes — I apparently do not do many surprises around here 🙂
Wearing Terveer Incense today. It’s a good scent on a rainy fall day.
SOTD–Chergui, oh so toasty, oh so tasty!!
Bad News–my car will be in the shop at the end of the week for a repair that costs as much as a weekend vacation and/or massive perfume purchases.
Good News–I am going to a big GALA tomorrow night in my beautiful black lace gown (with either Lyric or Une Rose) and the hotel where I am staying for the night upgraded me to a suite! Sweet!!!
Wow, black lace envy here. Have fun!
Nice! Enjoy tbe gala!
That sounds fantastic all around–enjoy!
Very chilly here today, possible snow flurries (but I’m betting against it). Xearing Tauer Une Rose Chyprée.
You smell wonderful! I’m going to wear it tomorrow!
Ambre Nuit today, from the batch of decants I got in my in-person swapmeet. There’s a mentholated aspect to the amber in the beginning that was surprising, but interesting, and it’s going to probably carry me through the rainy day of chores.
SOTD is Chanel 1932, from the swapmeet. What a way to elevate a totally ordinary Hump Day!
😀
????Thanks! I’m enjoying it a lot!
Have you compared ot to Chanel Boy? To me, there’s a similarity, with 1932 having a sharpish nose clearing nose hair singeing “something”. My decant came from a reliable NSTer (who has not been posting much except for a few nibbles here and there) and aiso got it not long after its launch.
No, I haven’t compared them. (My desert’s a perfume desert too; there are no Exclusifs nearby.) That’s interesting. I wonder what it is? I’d suggest aldehydes, but I don’t think Boy really has any. Hmm…
Another crazy day at work and another late post. I am wearing Lyric today. I hope everyone had a good day. Time to read the comments.
Oy, crazy day for me, too! I should have an analyst to do some of the grunt work. Between 2:39 and 2:40 this afternnoon, I had someone on the phone, my other line was ringing, my manager’s peer instant messaged me that I need to call bim right away on an urgent matter (and it was but it will take time to research and not on my already overflowing To Do list) and another person instant messaged me with a question for which the info had been provided previously). This is a classic example of to get work done, give it to the busy people. Aaaaaargh!
I’ve been there over 22 years so I am probably doing the work of two people. I sit at my desk, skip breaks and lunch etc., just a massive work load. It is stressful. I am constantly working against deadlines plus my boss thinks she’s a princess ( I do like her but she’s demanding and lazy). Your job responsibilities sound much worse though. What the heck are these people doing in the middle of the night? Don’t they sleep or is it because you are supporting company divisions across the globe? I am living for retirement but have 10 -13 years to go…
It was in the afternoon. But get this — when I came in to the office this morning, there was an instant message waiting for me from someone in the UK. He left it at 5:26AM so I pinged him back to say did he really expect me to be in the office at 5AM??? Say “What the fun!”’10x!
He sent you an IM? How polite. Better that than a text message or a phone call. (I used to work with offices in Europe and India and they were unperturbed about calling me at home at all hours.)
Sorry, tired tonight and didn’t pick up that you mentioned afternoon.
You smell fabulous! Hope you recover from your day and that tomorrow’s better!
I think it’s just a trend in the US. The job market is terrible and people know there’s not much out there so employers are taking advantage.
As a reward for running so many errands today I stopped at Ulta to re-try Stash. Still can’t smell it. Even from the very beginning, even on my sleeve, all I get is a faint sandalwood. I must be anosmic to something(s). Oh well.
How disappointing but I think for the sake of science we should try to figure out what it is to whoch you’re anosmic!
That happened to me with Nirvana Black… looking forward to trying Stash.
Wow, that’s amazing. Stash was a BIG scent when I tried it, almost too much.
I tested it and had the same reaction, so I rolled it on about 27 times. 10 minutes later it roared its head at me and I could smell it for the rest of the day. But even before that happened, my husband could smell it when I could not.
