Niche line Byredo will launch La Botte, Le Gant and La Selle, a new trio of fragrances in the Night Veils evening-wear collection.
The Night Veils collection by Byredo offers a new perfume ritual. A single drop on the skin of one of these elixirs is enough to diffuse the sensuality and power of each creation. The Night Veils envelop the allure of a rare elegance.
La Botte (shown) ~ "La Botte conveys flesh and wood, timeless femininity and unfailing chic. It begins with a prevailing floral impression. A lacy jasmine absolute heralds a heart of violet, with accents of lipstick and face powder. Then an animal vapour clings to the flowers with a civettone accord that lends the leather remarkable density. The skin lays itself bare. Teamed with the exotic, balsam flavour of mahogany, the scent ascends vertically like a pair of sky-high heels."
Le Gant ~ "Le Gant begins with an enveloping scent of spicy citrus, bergamot and wild saffron. The infusion of the leather can be perceived from the first second, accompanied by a floral sensation. A jumble of yellow mimosa corollas and violet heliotrope petals. The bouquet is supple and full, wrapping around the skin without the slightest resistance. With the passing hours, the Tuscan leather grows addictive, intensely amber, meltingly soft."
La Selle ~ "La Selle is distinguished, sombre, smoky, a truly unbridled concentration of leather. The olfactory surprise explodes from the very first second. An accord of black tea leaves melds with cashmeran, a magnetizing woody amber molecule. Sellier then teleports us to a vintage smoking room with precious tobacco leaves, antique books and age-worn leather club chairs. The leather fuses with the top notes of wood to the base of oak moss and birch that is so particular, so smoky, and resolutely evocative of animal skins. Olfactory acrobatics that give the leather fragrance a good whip of the riding crop."
Byredo La Botte, Le Gant and La Selle are available now for pre-order at Barneys, $550 each for 30 ml Extrait de Parfum.

Update: in 2019, La Selle was renamed Sellier.
The Boot, The Glove, and The Saddle? (My French has giant holes in it; my only excuse is that I took Spanish. 🙂 ) These actually sound kind of nice.
I think that’s right — but I took Spanish too!
At $550 a pop it won’t make any difference to me if they are nice or horrid.
Ow~! That hurt. I fainted and banged my head. What was doing? Oh yes. I was just looking to see price of the new ….
See Luca Turin quote 2 posts down 😉
But hey, you get cashmeran for your $550! Woo hoo.
Dang, they all sound good, love the bottles, definitely intrigued, and then I saw the price tag. I probably can’t even afford a sample.
I never heard anything about the first trio being so fantastic as to warrant the price.
Oy…Byredo…You were always “my brand”…This is getting ridiculous. And what,7/8 releases for this year so far??Come on.
Mr. Gorham is CERTAINLY Working Overtime this year… Becoming a bit too profuse if I might say so!
Sounds nice but at those prices, no.
They all sound DELIGHTFUL! Hope he does a Men’s version of this idea… But he is getting awfully frequent with the new releases, Mr. Gorham is!
