Tom Ford Private Blend Les Extraits Verts ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 16 August 2016 14 Comments

Tom Ford Vert d'Encens

Tom Ford will launch the Private Blend Les Extraits Verts collection, with four fragrances: Vert d'Encens, Vert de Bois, Vert Bohème and Vert de Fleur. The new scents are described as "daring and intoxicating interpretations of perfumery's classic 'green' note".

Vert d'Encens (shown) ~ "Sophisticated, aromatic and wild, Vert d'Encens is a whole new concept for an incense fragrance, inspired by the rugged Mediterranean coastlines of Corsica. Incense, so long the domain of austere, church-y scents or lavish Middle Eastern fantasias, is combined here with intense green notes and resinous tree sap for a bright, bracing and expressively textured burst of naturalistic character." With pine resin, tree sap accord, fir balsam, incense, heliotrope and boxtree oil.

Vert de Bois ~ "Unique and provocative, Vert des Bois represents a new evolution for green scents- a refreshingly avant-garde combination of woods, aromatics and florals as distinct as it is versatile." With spiked ouzo accord, poplar buds, olive tree leaves, lentisque resinoid, roasted tonka and patchouli.

Vert Bohème ~ "Fresh, green and entirely free spirited, Vert Bohème sparkles like an emerald on the finger of a dynamic young artist idling away a sunlit afternoon." With galbanum, mandarin, magnolia, honeysuckle, violet leaf and gustavia superba.

Vert de Fleur ~ "Private Blend Vert de Fleur strikes an alluring note on the definitive theme of 70s glamour. Refined with a modern flourish of iris and hyacinth, Vert de Fleur is Tom Ford’s floral subversion of classic green and captures an exuberant scene where beautiful icons with inimitable personas uncover a new world of pleasure." Additional notes include galbanum, neroli, bergamot, basil, jasmine, rose, orange blossom, vetiver, patchouli and oakmoss.

Tom Ford Vert d'Encens, Vert de Bois and Vert Bohème are available for pre-order at Luckyscent in the US (delivery projected for September), in 50 ($225) or 250 ($595) ml Eau de Parfum. Vert de Fleur will reportedly be exclusive to Harrods for a few months when it launches in late August.

Agree — these are the first TFPB scents I’ve been interested in for some time.

Did you ever try the Neroli Forte? I have always been meh about neroli portofino but really loved the added depth of the Forte version

I honestly can’t remember, I’m sorry. So far it is not that I don’t think any of that citrus series is any good, just that I think it’s all comically overpriced.

I have tried three of them at Bergdorf Goodman last week.
Two of them were not to my liking: Vert Boheme and Vert de Bois.
One was particularly stinky. Some might like!
On the other hand, Vert d’Encens is absolutely gorgeous and that’s the one I will gladly shell $595 for!

I have been testing them for the past 3 days. Vert d’encense was to me, beautifully blended, but reminded me very much of Naomi Goodsir bois d’ascese. Yesterday was vert de bois, which I actually loved by day’s end. The olive and ouzo somehow warmed together without being cloying or sharp, and I found myself with my nose down my shirt more than once. Today was vert bohemian and by mid morning I didn’t feel like I had anything on.
I thought I was a goner for another incense, but maybe not!

Having just watched that Euphoria commercial, when I read that by mid morning you didn’t feel like you had anything on, well, I read that another way entirely, and was about to be intrigued by a perfume that could make one feel unclothed! ;) The olive and ouzo one does sound intriguing, though. Looking forward to my samples!

Most of the previous mini ranges with the exception of the atelier d’orient have had their own bottle colour (Oud in grey, neroli in blues, white musks in clear etc, jardin in black/purple) surely a Vert range was crying out for green bottles!

At least he’s held the prices and not tried to hike them up to Neroli Forte levels, though his copywriter seems to have been on the sherry again – “sparkles like an emerald on the finger of a dynamic young artist idling away a sunlit afternoon.” indeed!

      Yes, opaque green bottles, please!

The Neroli Portofino Forte bottle has a gold-plated sticker (in fact a metallic plate, not a sticker)
That’s the selling point on the hiked up price which is totally ridiculous in my opinion.
It’s not like I’m going to use the bottle as a scotch or bourbon decanter in it in the future.
Something like that should have refill bottles available. Otherwise it could become a silly idea.

Haha yeah they actually made a thing of the fact the plaques were gold plated, as if anyone cares – it’s not like the bottles refillable and you’re going to keep it.

I really liked the frag though, when compared to the standard version, and managed to pick up a bottle on eBay for £60 – no way I’d pay £195 for 50ml !

I really want to smell these, especially the incense one! Wish they were in emerald green bottles.

Tried them today and none of them made me want to reach into my wallet on the spot. The encens was a grower , but they’re definitely ‘try before you buy’
