Happy World Chocolate Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in a very old version of S-Perfume 100% Love, layered over Tauer Perfumes Rose Delight Body Oil. Tea at the moment is a Yin Hao Jasmine from Tea Trekker.
Reminder: on 7/8, wear a citrus cologne, classic or modern.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image from the Pantone Cafe in Monaco.
It’s going to be brutal outside today (and for the rest of the week). Perfect timing for the cologne challenge! I’m showered in South Bay by TDC and loving it.
Yep! I may have to join the local pool after all — last year we joined and hardly went, so we thought we’d skip it this year. Now not sure I can stand it without a pool!
Yes, I’m thinking we may need to befriend the neighbors (diagonally in the back from ours – I can see their pool when upstairs in the bedroom) and jump the fence to use theirs. Their pool even has nighttime lights! So fance.
Sounds perfect — maybe they’ll go on vacation 🙂
I’m wearing Ciel d’Opale layered with Divine Bergamote. It’s a great combo while it lasts but I can only smell Ciel now. Tea is Thé de l’orangerie.
Is that the Dammann Freres? Sounds lovely.
It is, it’s nice. What is really great though is their Blanc d’oranger Bio.
I am feeling beautiful in Shangri La.
Milking my sample..
I wanted to dedicate my cuppa tea this morning and my beautiful perfume to all beings out there that need love. Nothing and no one heals and nothing nor no one evolves without Love. <3
Beautiful sentiment and smell. It would be lovely if everyone started their morning with that thought 🙂 .
It was inspired by listening to some Bob Marley this morning. Not exactly kids music to play for my little meatball and little monkey but I like the message..
Shangri La is beautiful
Almost any music and rhythm is great for kids, as long as the language isn’t explicit. Their minds are steel traps!
Agreed.
There’s a Marley album called “B is for Bob”, that has “original Bob Marley tracks re-imagined for fans of all ages” (according to the Amazon blurb). “Three Little Birds” was one of my favorite lullaby’s when my son was a baby.
Bob Marley’s daughter released a children’s picture book last year with the words to “One Love” that I read to a couple of kindergarten classes.
Little meatball and little monkey – cute. 🙂
Our little cream puff loves old Jamaican ska! I agree that almost anything can be “kids’ music.”
I impose about half an hour of Glenn Gould playing Bach on my toddler every morning, and he seems to totally like it.
And you smell fittingly lovely.
Have you tried the new Hiram Green Annikky?
Amen. And you smell beautiful!
The album You are My Little Bird from singer Elizabeth Mitchell has an adorably sweet version of 3 Little Birds. loved singing along with that album when my kids were little. 🙂
Aww, I will check that out! Thanks for your suggestions everyone
Lovely words and loved discovering Elizabeth Mirchel. Thank you.
In a headache induced fog. SOTD is Le Galion Snob, which I hope doesn’t make it worse.
Oh dear, I hope so too!
Feel better soon.
Hope you’re better very soon!
Hope you’re over it quickly.
Drink lots of water. Hope you feel better soon.
yes, lots of water and herbal tea.
I hope you feel better.
Gosh, I hope you feel better. I woke up with a headache this morning, so I understand how you feel….
I have had Snob on my “to buy” list for a lonnnng time. I desperately need to try this.
Headaches. Aaaarggghhh!
try a cool cloth and a quiet dark room..
Hope your headache woes are over soon. 🙁
SOTD: Furze from Lush.
This flu has been haunting me for almost a week now. Nose is raw, voice is raspy, head is spinning. Its bad.
Robin, I have this idea for a Friday challenge but I don’t know if it’s been done before: wear the original on one arm and a flanker on the other. Call it “how far does the apple fall from the tree” 🙂
That sounds nasty, hope you’re better soon.
Honestly I can’t remember — will add to list! And do hope you feel better.
It went down to 11 degrees last night (in JULY what is up with that) and is not much warmer this morning so I am wearing warm spicy cozy SL Arabie. I wouldn’t try it in summer heat but today it is just the thing.
Eau d’Hadrien Annick Goutal EDP circa 1997.
Your Pantone swatches are the colors I painted my bedroom when I was a teenager. Mustard yellow walls with high gloss enamel Chocolate brown woodwork. Fugly ! What was I thinking? LOL
Sorry for the reminder!
You should be ! Traumatizing! LOL
JK. 🙂
PSA
WXPN Philadelphia is having Throwback Thursday New Wave.
Talk about memories! Where does the time go.?
Very Brady Bunch????
Jealous of your Hadrien! As I commented yesterday, I have been craving this one and my bottle is long gone. I’m half-tempted to go pick up a bottle at Saks after work so won’t have to wait, except I hate to pay full price.
Ha! My nephew just turned 13. My sister let him choose new colors for his bedroom walls. He chose red and yellow that are exactly matches for ketchup and mustard. It burns my eyes. He loves it. For now. 😀
I got a chuckle out of your past paint choices, Bear. I did something similar when I was 14… my parents let me choose new carpet for a bedroom. It wasn’t quite neon green, but now that I think back, wow, was it bright.
Haven’t gotten around to a SOTD yet since I have not taken a shower yet. But I should probably wear no 5 or no 22 since I haven’t worn them in forever. Came a hair’s breadth away from a root canal yesterday and my mouth still hurts.
The dregs of SL Borneo.
I loved this one. Maybe 3 more wears left.
You smell great, and fitting for World Chocolate Day.
Doing the citrus cologne thing in Le Galion Whip. I love it and haven’t worn it so much this summer (it hasn’t been that hot). Very head clearing. I will top up with Eau Noble later, and I’ve a couple more loved citruses for tomorrow.
Sampling Myths Woman on one hand and Myths Man on the other. So far the edge is going to Myths Man
I have yet to try my samples of Myth. But, after a side by side sampling of the other Amouage fragrances, I was amazed at how much I preferred the Man in many cases, after really liking the Woman.
Which ones did you like? I’ve only tried the Woman versions, but always heard that the Man ones are really nice and in some cases, much better.
Jubilation XXV, Epic, and Memoir are the ones I have noted as favorites from that comparison.
I’m the opposite – I have Amouage Gold, Jub 25, Lyric, Epic, Dia and Beloved, and in all cases I like the women’s versions better than the men’s. Haven’t tried Myth yet, but it sounds interesting.
Me too! To me nothing beats the greatness that is Amouage Gold Women.
I really liked Jub XXV, but can’t stand the fruity-chypre “feminine” version. Did not like Interlude Man.
If it’s World Chocolate Day, it has to be a good one. In celebration I already indulged with a small bit of Patric Black Licorice Bar chocolate. I plan to eat a little Marie Belle Choco Banana bar later. There are some old fashioned Sees chocolates somewhere in the house. Happy Day to all!
SOTD is Chanel Eau de Cologne. I tried a perfume primer that was ” previewed” at Sniffapalooza ( it’s not on the market yet I believe). It’s supposed to increase fragrance longevity. After 3 hours, there was still a light neroli musk scent on the primer side, and nothing in the control side. I then resprayed because the spritz of citrus while eating chocolate is heaven.
For heaven’s sake, don’t mention See’s! I was doing pretty well bracing myself to go back to my regular healthy-ish eating and now I’m dreaming of butter-chews and peanut brittle bars. I’m so glad I’m not close enough to a store to go for samples.
If I leave them in the basement refrigerator , but decide I want a piece when I’m upstairs, I have to walk down and back up 2 flights to get one piece and do other activities while it comes to room temperature. By perfume logic, there are zero calories.
Perfume logic zeros out chocolate calories? Of course it does. What was I thinking….
😀 Why didn’t I think of that? I could stash it in the freezer in the garage, which would require moving a load of the husband’s junk that shouldn’t be on the freezer in the first place. Genius!
I miss See’s from my days living on the west coast 🙁
That black licorice chocolate sounds so good. Is it licorice flavored, or chocolate with licorice bits?
It has “house-made extract from organic licorice root”. The chocolate is satiny smooth, so the flavors blend
as if they grew together.
Fabulous!
You smell wonderful!
The perfume primer is genius, as are See’s chocolates. 😀
SOTD is Oud & Bergamot (Jo Malone). Hot and humid here in the Midwest.
I’m wearing Atelier Sud Magnolia, which has enough citrus in the top notes (bitter orange and pomelo) to justify it as a citrus. I just got it this week and it may turn into one of my favorites of the Atelier line.
SOTM is Cartier Zeste de Soleil – love the grapefruit note.
I may need something a little more substantial later, so I brought a purse spray of Lyric to work.
Ah, maybe I will wear that tomorrow!
Zeste de Soleil is very cheerful but it was gone by lunchtime (granted I left the house this morning at about 5:30 am).
Dior Homme today and hoping it manages to keep me calm and sane today – am anticipating a miserable day at work. Sometimes being a grown-up isn’t as much fun as I thought it would be.
Good luck! Adulting isn’t always fun. At least you smell great.
I share you anti-adult sentiments????
Just remind yourself that being a grown-up means that you can stay up late, jump on the bed, and eat ice cream whenever you want it! 😉 I agree, though — sometimes I just want someone else to step in and be the grown-up for me. Hope Dior Homme does the trick for you; it’s a lovely one!
So far, I’m wearing a few splashes of cool Florida Water. Our yard is brown and crispy after a week of heat and wind, so I will be watering plants. The Rangoon Creeper really took a hit, but I’m terrified to plant it in the ground and have it escape and engulf the house, and I can’t possibly give it a larger pot. I’m sad it didn’t get a chance to bloom, though. It was covered in buds when we left.
I will also be fashioning little plant cages in an attempt to foil the ravening hordes of bunnies. They’ve eaten my peppers, yarrow, chrysanthemums, and Russelia off at the ground and nibbled the tops off of all the potted plants within reach. I feel very slightly less terrible about the nest of babies the cats found and destroyed at Mom’s the other day.
Ravening rabbit hordes. Yep.
It’s a damned good thing they’re cute. I admit to leaving a water bowl out for them because they’re not going away any time soon and I don’t want anything, even pests, to suffer. I still can’t really mind if things eat them, that’s what they’re for.
I need to get a bottle of Florida Water — it was a medicine chest staple in our home when I was growing up, and the only scent my dad ever wore.
It’s such a soothing, refreshing scent. I have a cheap plastic bottle from the grocery store and keep meaning to decant it into a nice glass spray bottle for keeping in the fridge. I know you can still buy the glass bottles, but it doesn’t seem to suffer much from the plastic and I can replace it so inexpensively.
We somehow have tons of rabbits that nullify all my feeble attempts at gardening, and I think they now have babies too, because I started seeing little furry balls skittering here and there among plants, and I do not want to think that those are rats.
If you grab one (with gloves on, of course), or accidentally step on one, and it sounds like a squeaky toy screaming in agony, it’s a rabbit 😉 For something so tiny, they sure can make a lot of noise.
After wearing Byredo 1996 yesterday and placing that at the top of my Buy List, I’m wearing Anima Dulcis today and trying to figure out how to find space for both. It’s hard to complain about having too many things in this world you enjoy, though. 🙂
You smell great! Good dilemma!
I’m sampling Le Labo Bergamote 22. It’s nice!
that one is great for summer and beyond
Wow! It’s World Chocolate Day? Even though I am allergic, I will be stopping by my local Godiva Shop today to indulge (in moderation) – so worth the reaction I will be getting later 🙂
To continue with our “citrus – theme” this week, I am wearing Pomelo Paradis from Atelier. This is my 2nd favorite Atelier next to Orange Sanguine – which I will be wearing tomorrow. PP is an amazing fragrance! Loving it!
I bet you smell fabulous. Haven’t tried Pomelo Paradis, but I do love Orange Sanguine.
I decided to play with Atelier Cologne samples today. I ordered their postcard samples back when there were about 20 scents to choose from and fell in love with about half of them. Now Atelier has more than 30 fragrances! I must order more. 😉
They make some good stuff!
Back to speed-dating my samples/decants! First of the day is Arquiste’s Fleur de Louis which reminds me of something and I just can’t put my finger on it. Started off mid-range powdery and then a nice warm iris surfaces. Darn, I’m gonna have to blast some more on because I think I kind of like it. I’m not allowing myself more than one day for testing as my samples are at SABLE levels. I’m aiming for a one-and-done approach at this stage of the game. Sigh …
Ha! Looking forward to good trading at a meet up 🙂 .
You’re on!
Ack! Chocolate and sunshine! What could be better? I’m going to make sure I get a little bit of both today????
SOTD CSP Amour de Cacao spritzed liberally over an a body lotion that smells a bit like an orangesicle!
This is my Saturday but I have so many appointments and errands it’s just like another day at work-ugh! I really resent being a responsible adult sometimes. ????
The chocolate and sunshine can be a consolation for adulthood. 🙂
The CEO picked up some kind of nasty head-cold/respiratory bug as we came home from vacation, probably from the airplane, and has oh-so-thoughtfully given it to me. 🙁
Can still smell bits of my Safari. Otherwise, am miserable.
BTW, I found yesterday’s Pantone color combination cheerful. Today’s, not so much (though I would totally go for that eclair).
So sorry you’re sick! Airplanes are like germ zoos.
And agree, I don’t like that color combo either. Just wanted something for World Chocolate Day. And, would not mind being at that cafe in Monaco at the moment.
Bummer. 🙁 Hope you feel better soon.
Bleah on the cold. Hope you are over it soon!
I’m wearing Outremer Oceanic Hotel Nice. The bottle is so pretty. It has an art deco style drawing of a hotel in Nice, France on it.
Its description reads “saltwater and clean skin scent”. I’ve worn it a few times, and I get lots of citrus. It also reminds me of Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo when I first put it on — I love that smell 🙂
OO Hotel Nice sounds lovely. I love J&J baby shampoo, too.
(Shhh, just between you and me, Chanel Beige EdP smells like J&J to me. A very expensive, very pretty baby shampoo.)
I have a small sample of Beige that I take out for an occasional sniff. I’ve never worn it. I’m going to try it very soon.
I’m in Riga for work. Got very little sleep, so I’m a bit confused. Wearing L’Ombre dans L’Eau and it’s helping.
Beautiful choice for a day like that. 🙂
You smell amazing. That’s still one of the best rose scents ever, I think.
I forget that I have some of that. It is a great one, and so unique. I also love the candle version. Must replace mine soon.
It’s a cool, rainy day, and Velvet Rose & Oud is adding a bit of coziness. Can’t join the tea-talk as I started with some coffee, but maybe in the pm will have some Harney Peaches&Ginger.
Lovely. That is the one JM Cologne Intense that I would consider buying, but I already have some that smell similar.
SOTD: Jo Malone Carrot Blossom and Fennel. I am fast becoming addicted to the Herb Series – This presents as a beautiful, rooty iris on me.
Interesting. I haven’t tried any from the herb series yet.
I have the Carrot and Fennel, the Nasturtium & Clover Cologne and the Wild Strawberry & Parsley Cologne. All are beautiful summer scents
Was too busy yesterday so here’s a double post. As a reminder, since I find many citrus fragrances pointless and annoying, I’m using this week’s community project to burn through a bunch of samples and have fun complaining about them. So far they all suffer in comparison with the glorious (and ridiculously cheap) ‘Agua de Colonia Concentrada’ from Alvarez Gómez, the one citrus cologne scent I really love. You can get in any Spanish drugstore (Hamamaelis take note, if you’re still out there!) :^)
Yesterday’s SOTD: Penhaligon’s “No.33”
Pointlessness factor: 5/5, like a lot of Penhaligon’s stuff it is neither use nor ornament.
Annoyance factor: 2/5 (it doesn’t do anything, therefore it doesn’t even annoy me)
ACC index: 6.66
Today’s SOTD: Carthusia “Zagara”
Pointlessness factor: 4/5 it lasts maybe an hour or two, but the first moments are hell so the score goes up a bit because what’s the point of that?
Annoyance factor: 5/5 at first (smells somewhere between ‘rat poison’ and ‘poisoned rat’); settles down to 2/5 white floral.
ACC factor: 5.44 – so I could get 5-and-a-half bottles of Agua de Colonia Concentrada for the price. Not that I will, mind, but I am pretty sure I shall buy precisely zero bottles of Zagara.
It’s worth looking at if you have a weakness for orange blossom in its most bitter incarnation though – I know from reading during the week that there are some orange blossom lovers out there. Weirdos. ;^P
Ha. Fun rating categories. There are so many things in general that I find pointless and annoying. 🙂
Ha ha! Count me as one of the weirdos. Our local grocery store is called Zagara’s. It’s a nice enough store, but I would never be able to wear a perfume bearing its name. Too strange of an association. Though considering your review, I will not be missing anything.
I’m wearing a sample of JM Tuberose Angelica. (The Nordstrom near me just got a Jo Malone counter.) It’s pretty but fleeting. I can barely detect it after 2 hours. At $170 a bottle, I expect much much much more. For the afternoon I think I’ll wear SL Fleur d’Oranger.
I missed the boat on this one being that its World Chocolate Day. I love chocolate scents!
Today I’m wearing Voyage inspired by Kevin’s very good review of the new Hiram Green scent. Not chocolate, but the vanilla in this is delicious!
I love Voyage. I’m so happy that Indigo Perfumery carries his stuff in the 5ml travel sizes!
Do they usually have all his scents in the travel size? I only saw Voyage.
I don’t know if they usually have them, but I bought Shangri La and Voyage a couple of months ago, and I see that they still have those and Moon Bloom in the 5 mls now. Hopefully Dilettante will follow 🙂
Thanks, I’ll keep my eye out. I must not have been looking in the right place on the IP website.
I think everyday should be World Chocolate Day. I do try to celebrate as often as possible.
I’m in Carner Barcelona Tardes. Not quite 90 degree appropriate, but I’m really liking this one.
I always read that as ‘Tardis’….
I had to look that up. It would be a good name for an ELDO.
I wonder what Eau d’TARDIS would smell like. I’d wear it, though. . . 🙂
Metal and gasoline?
Maybe a scent that is not what it seems. Maybe it could start with a quiet, retro, 1950s vibe ( the wooden police box aspect ) but then transform into something futuristic, mineral and bright? Something that explodes and gets louder.
Oooh, I like that!
That would be a cool idea! I’d wear it.
And starting out quiet and getting louder might be a scent analog to being “bigger on the inside” too.
You know, I’ve been on a white chocolate bender. My husband would say that’s not really chocolate, but whatever, I love it.
Haha! My husband prefers white chocolate, and I tell him what your husband says. I do like it myself, though.
Yeah, no… I’m with your husband on that one…
Stay cool today and hopefully some rain will break the humidity.
I’m sweating like fiend waiting for the train. Yes, but hoping the rain waits until I get home.
Wait. Every day ISN’T world chocolate day?
Cousins! I am wearing CB Cuirs today, which makes me feel very grounded and happy in the midst of a bad mood. Just finished the nice spray manufacturer’s sample, but fortunately a bottle is on its way. I like Tardes a lot too. And have you tried D600?
There was a smidge in a freebie package. From what I could tell, it reminded me of PG Indochine. I haven’t smelled Cuirs. I also got a sample of El Born which is too sweet for this heat. Will have to try it when it cools down. Hope your mood lifts!
World Chocolate Day! Well, I will have to observe it appropriately later on. Many days are World Chocolate Day for me.
Still grapefruit-y today. SOTM is La Via Del Profumo Notte Africana – rosewood, rose, ylang, and of course, grapefruit. SOTA will be L’AP Onde Sensuelle (thanks Koyel!) which opens with a lotta grapefruit then shifts to jasmine.
That LVdP sounds nice. Have you tried Bruno Fazzolari Monserrat? I really like it. It’s a pretty grapefuity floral. It’s on the theoretical FB list.
I’m in Ouarzazate from my husband’s small but well curated 🙂 ! collection. Love this one, but wish it had more power–more sillage and more tenacity.
It would not be so peaceful, then, though! I do love Ouarzazate.
It is slightly less than all of the degrees today and I am wearing Amouage Sunshine Man in an effort to at least try all of my samples before I accumulate more. First impression is of chewing an orange flavored baby aspirin, while drinking a very sweet gin and tonic in an herb garden. I do not like the sweet with the herbal overtones and vanilla in the background. It calms down, but is still vanilla herbal and Tang powder. It smells kind of a mess. Money saved.
I am drinking some Adagio Rooibos Lemon Cloud. Not bad.
It’s not yet 11 and I haven’t worked up the courage to leave the house. So I don’t deserve that g&t, but the thought of one (not sweet!) is just . . . Like an oasis in the desert.
Congrats on saving your money! For some reason, the Sunshine bottles are my favorite Amouage bottles.
Woo-hoo! Chocolate day! I was not aware of this until a minute ago, but I just happened to wear a perfume that matches – Sammarco Bond-T. This fragrance submerges me in a state of pure bliss for couple of hours after application. Love love love. I don’t seem to have issues with longevity either, like some people reported.
I have been debating this one for the fall.
Oh, I understand it is my personal experience, but to me, it is not only absolutely wonderful, but also wears forever. Now it’s been 5 hours post application, and it is still going strong. However, I know that many people find that it lacks longevity and projection for them, so, perhaps, try it? Do you have a sample or would you like me to send one to you?
You are not making it easy 🙂
Atelier Colognes of the Morning = Vanille Insensee on the left and Oolang Infini on the right. VI is deliciously strange. Three favorite notes of vanilla, cedar, and lime are knocked sideways by vetiver. OI is the only tea scent I’ve ever worn and loved.
I would happily eat a Decadent Chocolate eclair at Pantone Cafe should ever I find myself wandering through Monaco. (Ha!) I hope they offer a rainbow of violently colored ice creams and gelatos. Mmmmmmm.
OI is a great tea scent. I wore it to bed a lot.
You know, I keep reapplying, so I think Oolang Infini is my new favorite from Atelier. I have so many of their samples that I’ve never sprung for a bottle. Maybe it’s time.
SOTM vintage Diorella edt, I can’t believe I didn’t like this when i first sniffed it, after blind purchase from eBay, I’d read so much about it, but it just smelt a bit odd. Total turn around, I now love fruity chypres with a passion, and really treasure my tiny bottle- absolutely adore the old Dior packaging too, this one is a ridged glass bottle, with blue Bakelite/plastic lid.
Put on L’eau de Gaga first thing this morning, really refreshing, but no good for overcast chilly weather, which the morning soon became.
You smell great!
Love Diorella!
You’re in vintage Diorella? I am crying in delight for you.
That melon note can be really off-putting, but I think it’s always worth a second sniff. I can understand, though, why many people find it unpleasant.
I’m in SOTD – a bit of Flying Fox shower gel, some Tend Skin, sunscreen, and a spritz of Michael Kors Rose Radiant Gold (why they put the words in that order I’m sure I don’t know). My grandmother sent me a manufacture’s sample. It’s not bad.
Flying Fox is fabulous – I’m so glad I bought a big bottle before they discontinued it.
I didn’t realize it was discontinued – the bottle had a 2016 date on it. It is wonderful!
Wearing Ellie D Noir and eating some Cacao Prieto 72% dark with pistachios and apricots.
I am sampling ELDO’s Fils de Dieu du Arizona et des Agrumes for the first time. I had no idea what to expect, and I didn’t expect to fall instantly in love. The milk-rice-Thai basil (???) thing that’s currently happening is intoxicating. This is summer in a bottle.
I think that’s my favorite ELDO so far — lovely and quirky in equal measure!
Roses de Chloe today. It’s a bright, happy rose, easy to wear in the summer.
Wearing my favorite citrusy scent today, though not really a cologne – AA Herba Fresca. Yum.
Yum. It’s almist drinkable. I should have worn that today. I’m always amazed at how long the mint note lasts.
Must try this one, sounds so wonderfully refreshing in the heat.
Spritzed on some Ambre Sultan last night for bed and holy crow this stuff is crazy strong. It is radiating like the sun still this morning. The complete opposite of citrus cologne.
Wonky morning here — our nanny phoned in sick in the eleventh hour and so I’m still at home in my jammies with my little biscuit cuddled up in my lap. Actually much more pleasant than going in to work! I’m planning on some Neroli Portofino once the little man decides we should get up off the couch. No rush, little man!
that is my everyday 🙂 Enjoy the snuggles
I’m envious, and glad that your new non-working setup seems to be working out well! I know it was a big decision.
Eau de Merveilles today. Its finally going to be hot this weekend, so I need to get my hot weather scents out so I’m ready. Perfect timing for tomorrow!
AG Ninfeo Mio – basically a summer citrus cologne with a touch of fig as a counterpoint. Excellent for a miserably hot, muggy day.
Ninfeo Mio is gorgeous, my favourite fig.
Love it, can’t decide whether to buy it or not…
I bought a small bottle from a discounter when they were changing the packaging. The frosted green glass of the old bottles is lovely, too. You might shop around on the internet to see if any remain. 😉
Second day in a row for Chasse aux Papillons. I do love me a good linden!
Someone here in the library is wearing a delicious old school chypre that I cannot yet identify. They’ve left a trail that is astonishingly strong and long-lasting, but I have yet to track down the wearer (it is a large building and I do have other things to do). I suspect the elevator will be chypre-scented for the next several hours – a vast improvement over its usual smell, at least in my opinion. Whomever is sitting next to the source at this moment might feel differently.
I love it when that happens. Most chypre fragrances overwhelm me when I wear them. But when I smell them on someone else, especially at arms-length or at a distance, the sillage is dazzling.
SOTD is DSH Pamplemousse. Citrusy and woody. Sparkling, refreshing and energizing. Decent longevity. So far 5 hours on skin and it is still lively and lovely.
In Guerlain Gourmand Cocquin. Will be breaking the diet later to honor chocolate day. 🙂 Need something sweet to mnimize the annoyance factor – situation at home is kind of not pleasant.
Maybe everyone in the home needs chocolate 🙂
Agree that chocolate can help ease tensions. I’ve always had a stash for everyone at work and they run for it when under stress.
Hope things improve.
More like a drink 🙂
Testing out my new decant of Sunshine Woman, because we are definitely lacking in sunshine around here :-p
This one might need more than my typical first-time cautious spray, but I am finding its warmth and spice intriguing…
Update: turned into a rich, rich tobacco. Might have to tuck this away till fall for further investigation!
It has been chocolate day every day since I arrived in CA. We had a box of See’s around and then a Whitman’s sampler we’ve been going through…
Pacifica Tunisian Jasmine Lime today. I wish the blast of lime lasted longer…
I’d have no perfume money if I lived near See’s 😀 .
SOTD is Dame Perfumery Black Flower Mexican Vanilla. Good thing, too, now that I’ve laid eyes on that eclair in the picture! Just keep sniffing the perfume; I don’t need an eclair!…
Hello there! You smell so goooood. And you do need an eclair….I like those ones with the slightly gooey, sticky coffee flavoured icing. Light, crispy choux pastry and just enough cream to create a moustache. With a chocolate eclair for dessert.
Kanuka! This is a new form of enabling! And, I have to say, you’re very good at it!
But you hate cream! Oh, I know…you can have sticky, warm chocolate caramel filled eclairs
Oooh! I wish you hadn’t said that, because I’m working at home today, and I’ve got all the ingredients to make that very thing….I’ll report back.
Yes, with a chocolate eclair for dessert! (That’s like the part in The Mummy with the ‘bourbon chaser’!) I’ve never had that other kind you mentioned. That’s trouble because: Is it a pastry? I’ll eat it.
PS I had some apple pie instead.
Have been enjoying the night sky recently with its fine sliver of moon and the Southern Cross – somehow the stars seem so much brighter on freezing, frosty nights. Caught a glimpse of green last night – the aurora australis.
Dogs ready for action at 5 am (3 hours before dawn ) so another quick turn around the block while my son is asleep. Felt like a kid sneaking out on an adventure!
Back in bed and wearing Lale. I love this scent because it is full-on lemon without the sharp citrus/ cologne aspect. It is soapy, dish wash lemon …. A real bare feet, wooden floor and sunlight scent. Might get this one sprayed at my funeral to put everyone in a happy mood. Not that I’m planning to have a funeral…but if I was….Well, that was weird!
Not weird at all: no obsequies for me either. I appreciate your idea of spraying a meaningful perfume at the funeral you aren’t having, though:, and with full acknowledgements to you as the originator of the idea (APA citation if you like), I would like to do the same at my non-funeral. I think I’d go with 31 Rue Cambon: after all, I can’t take it with me! My non-mourners might as well smell utterly gorgeous!
I have gone through life hating parties and group gatherings so I don’t see any reason for a funeral….unless people promise not to turn up or attend. That could work. A stay at home, read a book, eat cake and drink wine funeral.
My idea is to just not be around (obviously) and just let the word spread quietly among my friends when somebody says, “Hey, has anybody caught up with silly old Frances lately?” Then they can adjust as they wish. Hope my non-funeral is at least a decade or so away though! I’ve got all this perfume…
I just love this thread! Couldn’t agree more, except that I might want people to gather to give them an excuse to eat a lot of chocolate while taking possession of my perfumes.
Yes, that would be great, but in my case, I’d replace chocolate with ripe mango and slices of fresh pineapple, my absolute favourite things.
If you had enough perfumista friends around, you could leave instructions for your executor to organize a swap meet to disperse your scented legacy. That would be a great way to be remembered! 🙂
Well, meant that to go under here. Noz, you and Holly can divi up the goods.
I attended a funeral/ wake recently for my mother-in-law. I was really annoyed because I knew her favorite scents were jasmine and tuberose, but the only flowers were lilies and roses. I think everyone should consider their scent preferences if planning for the inevitible. I want my wake to be scented with Hiris and Lonesome Rider, and I want at least one bottle buried with me.
And I love hearing about the Southern stars. Please keep describing the happenings in the Southern Hemisphere!
I would love to see the Southern Cross one day. There was one time when I was a kid that we could see the borealis all the way down here in southern AZ! I have no idea what cosmic event made that possible. But I do have a memory of seeing the glow coming from behind the Catalina Mts.
Testing Masque Milano L’Attesa.
To my nose, so far, this is not good — synthetic smelling, and in a boring, dept store sense. I am definitely not getting all the hype around this one. The good thing is that I don’t have to worry about this house anymore (this is the second one I tried, and I take it as a solid evidence that Masque does not work for me).
I was going to buy this one unsniffed but than got a sample. It is nice but not worth it for me. Somewhat surprised as reviews have been amazing and I expected to love it. Oh well money to be spend on other fragrances 🙂
I was also sure that I would need to get this one, so, like you, I am actually glad for the saved money! I continue to test it, and maybe my initial reaction was overly critical, but I really do not understand those glorifying reviews. Yay for perfume samples!
I wasn’t crazy about it either on first sniff; going to test again. I think some of these aromachemicals smell very different to different people, too.
Whew! I thought my olfactory bulb was out of whack.
Hello! It’s late–well, it’s already seven o’clock, and I’ve only just woken up! Unheard of for me! Hope it’s a harbinger of better sleeping patterns to come! It’s really cold and wet here, but for the Friday project, I’m wearing a summer favourite, Cristalle EdP. It smells of citrus and cool shade, but I have to say that there is something wonderful about combining its incisive clarity with this grey stormy day. It’s like summer light strayed into the wrong season, thought a minute, then began valiantly to clean up winter. Anyway, it has locked my mood in place: I’ll probably be offensively cheerful all day. Be well and happy, NST.
That sounds like the perfect Friday scent. Maybe a spot of shopping, too? Just to keep your hand in.
“Offensively cheerful”! Love it. Reminds me of a button I once had: “Smile. It makes people wonder what you’re up to.”
Atelier Colognes of the afternoon = Trefle Pur on the left and Grand Neroli on the right. Both are absolutely wonderful. I smell quite green and sprightly.
Vanille Insensee applied this morning is still going strong, a nice surprise for a cologne.
Inspired by one of hajusuuri’s choices as of late, I’m wearing my sample of Atelier Cologne’s Cedrat Enivrant. I don’t think it will topple Orange Sanguine as my favorite citrus from that house, but it is very nice.
I agree, Cedrat Enivrant is fabulous and refreshing.
Go Team Atelier! 😀
I have just gotten a small bottle of their Musk. Very excited. Also appreciate that almost entire line (except for newer releases) is available in smaller bottles on their website
It is a very unsummery summer’s day today so reached for something cozy and warm…Hiram Green Voyage. Have I mentioned how much I love this line lately?
Habit Rouge EDT today which has enough citrus to hold up well in the nearly 100 degree heat here in the banana belt of south eastern Virginia.
SOTE: A little Trayee behind each knee.
I’m very late to the party today, and I momentarily forgot what I was wearing. It’s Histoires de Parfums 1826. And now knowing that today is World Chocolate Day, I think I need to pick up some chocolate on my way home.
PSA for anyone interested… The Posh Peasant is having a going out of business sale on their website. Discount code “farewell” gets 25% off. If they have something that you all have been wanting to sample, now is the time!
Thanks! Maybe just a peak. ????
Veerryyy late today but loved reading everyone’s comments. No 19 EDT was my SOTD. It’s so gorgeous but I wish it lasted longer.
Atelier Colognes of the Evening = Mistral Patchouli on the left and Orange Sanguine on the right. I smell like the breeze through a citrus grove.
Trefle Pur edged out Grand Neroli as my favorite of the afternoon. Trefle Pur is green with grace, Grand Neroli smells more like cut green leaves from a citrus tree.
And Atelier Colognes for bedtime = Bois Blonds on the left and Cedrat Enivrant on the right. Saved these two for last. I remembered them as favorites the last time I played with these Atelier samples. Trefle Pur and Oolang Infini are right behind them, though. I’m surprised that today I don’t like Orange Sanguine as much as usual.
That makes 14 hours, 8 colognes, and 1 happy nose. Tomorrow I shall be fragrance-monogamous a la Angela. 😀
