Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! Welcome to July, and hope everyone is having a lovely Friday so far. And, happy Canada Day! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance by Olivia Giacobetti, if you have one.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm doing a little Olivia Giacobetti catch up. I wore Diptyque Philosykos to bed last night, and this morning I'm in L'Artisan Safran Troublant.
Reminder: on 7/8, wear a citrus cologne, classic or modern.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
I’m in Dipytique’s Philosykos. I think it’ll do better in the heat than Lubin’s Idole.
Enjoy the day everyone! Have a beautiful weekend!
Scent twins! We smell great!
Scent triplets! It’s the only OG scent I have. Viva la figue!!
Today my friend is coming over with her Canadian fiancé to have a BBQ, so we are celebrating Canada Day on his behalf. Frantically running around the house now to try and tidy up before they get here, but then can relax and be in full blown party mode!
Make that quadruplets now 🙂
Twins!
Triplets!
I never realized how many fragrances I own that were OG’s. It was a tough choice, but Phylosykos is great in warm weather (or anytime).
You smell great!!!
I really need to try that one.
Quintuplets! .. or whatever we’re up to now 🙂
Joining the crowd wearing Philosykos on a cool Figgy Friday, more like early May than the beginning of July. For once, good weather will be with us for the entire holiday weekend, and I’m looking forward to spending most of it outdoors, gardening, swimming, and, of course, outdoor concerts and fireworks celebrations. Wishing everyone a relaxing, and safe, weekend!
Found a decant of this scent and decided since this is the only scent from this perfumer that I have, I went with it. Can’t go wrong with a good fig fragrance.
Scent twins! Beautiful and in a moderately warm summer day- very sexy!
Passage d’enfer once again. And a little Safran troublant on my feet
On your feet! Can you smell it from there?
Yes. I always put fragrance on my ankles .
It wafts around me.
Interesting, I’ll have to try it.
Excellent, like the scent on the feet 🙂
maybe this is the broken arm perfume solution! i’ve been afraid to wear perfume lest i get it on my cast and it’s a scrubber, or a mix smells bad… i have been able to spray onto the same arm, but it ends up over saturated for me. the ankles though…
Back of the knees works too.
It’s kind of muggy here, though looks like rain. I’m wearing Thé pour un Été.
That sounds like a perfect perfume/weather combo!
Safran Troublant and Idole on left arm. Jour de Fete and En Passant on right arm. ALL HAIL OLIVIA.
Wow – how do they smell together?
ST and Idole complement each other beautifully- maybe because they both have saffron? Jour de Fete and En Passant are long gone, sadly. En Passant indeed!
You smell amazing, 1/4 scent twin!
I’m wearing En Passant.
Ditto En Passant! Love it!
You win 🙂
I think you do win!
I love this idea. All hail Olivia!
1/4 twin as well. Forgot how much I enjoy Saffran Troublant, especially when it’s warmer weather.
Definitely a win! I’m another 1/4 twin, wearing Idole. Combining it with Saffron Troublant sounds marvelous.
I love everything about this. Hail!
I’m off to the gym in a small spritz of Guerlain Vetiver but I’m planning on wearing Dzing! after I shower (if I can find my sample).
That’s always the problem — where is the sample?
I’m in Dzing! today, if you don’t find your sample I’ll put on an extra spray in your honor. 😉
No OG perfumes for me
I’m still doing last weeks community project with the house divided. Today I am sampling two from Thorn & Bloom: a bird of paradise and orange blossom.
Have a good weekend beautiful smelling people
Mmm… that sounds like a lovely combination! I will have to try that one too. Wonderful week-end to you as well & you smell great!!
If some bottles from Thorn & Bloom fell on my lap I would be very happy
Happy Canada day to all
Had intended to wear Dzing! today, but it is simply too hot and muggy. So, went with Lime, Basil and Mandarine (Jo Malone) instead. TGIF! 🙂
I wore Dzing! yesterday in the heat. It was… a little uncomfortable
I did Safran Troublant yesterday, and I think it was too hot/muggy for it as well. It seems to go bug spray on me if it gets too hot, so will reserve it for cooler weather from now on.
I actually prefer it in hot weather, the scent seems to bloom and stay around longer on me. Otherwise its gone quickly.
Safran Troublant for me since it’s the only one on the list I own. While in NY, I made sure to get some sampling in– really liked Pistil Whip from Heretic Parfums, an all natural line carried at Barney’s. Not in my budget at the moment, but still…. Also to anyone in the NY area in the next few weeks, I can definitely recommend the Degas exhibit at MOMA which is about his experimentation with monotypes.
Love the name Pistil Whip!
Apparently he was mugged and started having an olfactory hallucination
Ok that’s a bit less fun.
FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY!! And my 2nd week of vacation begins this afternoon at 5:30pm! Woot woot!!! 🙂 Heading for a few days in Jacksonville Beach, to celebrate my father-in-law’s 80th birthday and get a little beach time.
Alas, I haven’t a single offering from Madame Giacobetti, which is a shame! She has so many goodies!
Since L’Artisan commissions her for quite a few creations, I’m wearing Timbuktu to support ’em. I’m smelling pretty fancy-pants, I have to say! 🙂
Enjoy your weekend, and to my fellow Americans, have a wonderful 4th of July! At 240 years old, the USA is just a baby, but in my (biased) opinion, the best place in the world! 🙂
Enjoy your vacation!
I am so ‘head down’ at work at the moment, that as people on NST have been talking about the holiday weekend coming up I was thinking “What holiday could that be? I wonder what country has a holiday coming up at the end of June?”
Well, it turns out I have indeed heard of the 4th of July and I know which country celebrates it. :^)
Have a good one!
I’m in Ormonde Jayne Vanille d’iris. I needed something calming today. I’m a snot ball mess today, still getting over the cold I got from the hubs, who is still a snotty mess himself a week later. It’s also his birthday and I’ve had his presents in the trunk of my car for a few days now. Leaving work early to get home and wrap them.
Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend (in the US and Canada)!
Good luck with the birthday! Hope you both get some rest. You smell lovely.
I am fighting off the cold my nephew had earlier this week. Still hoping to win, we’ll see!
My hubs woke up with a cold. Is it bouncing through us to them and back 😉 ? Have a great birthday celebration and feel better.
SOTD and my contribution to the community project is L’Artisan “Safran Troublant”. It reminds me of Indian or Pakistani desserts (just missing a little cardamom”. Sadly my skin treats it like an Indian dessert too, and gobbles it up without a trace.
Hey twin!
Good morning from my home-heading Denver layover, I think I may have hit up the ll vetiver sample again before I left Minneapolis, but since I had to be at the airport at 4, it’s all kind of confusing. I’ll try to catch up with an OG sample when I eventually get home!
Yay, scent twins with Robin (and probably 100 other people) in Safran Troublant. As predicted, 8 sprays = 4 hours.. Next time I’ll try 10-12 sprays and see if I get double the longevity without doubling the dose.
I may go to the Atelier Cologne boutique later today and load up on Cedrat Enivrant.
What I’ve found helps is to spray myself several times, wait 15-20 minutes and then spray myself a few more times. For some reason it feels like it lasts longer.
That’s a great idea.! I’ll do this when I don’t have a train to catch in the morning. Truth be told, ST is so light I can’t imagine it overwhelming anyone.
Plus, get a few of those sprays on your shirt. ST lasts pretty well on clothing.
I have never deliberately sprayed perfume on clothing / accessories because I’m afraid that it will degrade the fibers or, in some cases, cause the color(s) to run. Perhaps that’s an irrational fear… With this said, I can still smell some delicious traces of ST. I really should wear it more often!
I have a bottle somewhere and now must unearth it after all of the kudos for it today. It moved out of rotation for the warm weather ( another effort at organization). I’m not wearing anything destroyable, so may try some on my clothes.
A few weeks ago I tested Miyako while wearing a robe. I kept wondering what I smelled on several occasions all week and realized it was Miyako- it became earthy and was very tenacious!
I have to retry Miyako!
Oh, you could be right, I have no idea. Maybe I don’t care about my clothing all that much.
ST is very light, but I find it lasts surprisingly long on my skin. Sometimes I’ll turn my head at about 8PM and get a creamy, cuddly hello from it. Or, at least, the suggestion of a hello. I’ve learned to appreciate how unobtrusive it is.
Lucky you!
Hiris today (wonderful), after a nice night of sleep with Tilleul Pour La Nuit d’Orsay. The latter is an Eau de Soin (whatever that is) and has a gentle alcohol free texture which can be used on the whole body. Very soothing camomile and lime (linden) blossom.
Yum. I can’t remember if I tried the Nuit, but love the regular D’Orsay Tilleul.
There are linden trees in the courtyard at my office. I love the scent.
Good morning everyone. I am in Hermes Hiris. This is one of the perfumes that I can wear all year round. Elegant and velvety but I wish it had a better longevity. Heading to Michigan for the long holiday weekend. Happy 4th of July to all of us in the USA.
You smell lovely! Hiris is one of my very favorite perfumes and has been since it was launched.
Twins, it lasts really well on me. But I use 5 spritzes minimum.
I usually use 10 spritzes but sadly after 3 hours is gone.
Safran Troublant, a perfect golden sculpture of a scent — saffron, yellow roses (I think they have to be yellow) and vanilla. It makes me really happy.
Passage d’Enfer today. I think this is headed towards the next swap meet, so this is kind of like its going away party
Bon Voyage 🙂
Twins! I didn’t think it would work in today’s humid heat, but it somehow always works on me. I love it. And I’m definitely going to keep an eye open for your PdE at the next swap meet; I can’t get enough of this stuff.
I’ll keep an eye out too ????
I only have two Giacobetti perfumes. Wore En Passant yesterday, today’s scent is D’Orsay Tilleul. What a lovely and realistic linden blossom!
Must find that one. It sounds lovely.
Me too cannot resist linden
So good!
Not feeling the challenge today. It’s wet and rainy, not to mention a little on the cold side for July right now. Wearing Theorema today.
You smell great! Theorema should be the automatic alternate choice every Friday.
I only have Dzing! and Fou d’Absinthe, so I’m wearing Dzing!
Dzing! for me, too. It makes me happy, just to type the name. Dzing! 😀
Triplets! “Dzing!” is also fun to just say out loud!
Sampling Diptyque Philosykos!
Gosh it’s gorgeous. It gives me a realistic reminder of the giant fig tree overhanging the street on my way to classes, just before the figs became overripe and cloying. Mmm, I could go for some figs right now.
Likely a late day at work today, despite the impending long weekend for the 4th. -__- If you take today off please enjoy!
You are making me hungry!! I love fresh figs as well.
Me too! i got a 20 pack (i think) at Costco last week. I like it with a dollop of balsamic vinegar glaze, parmesan cheese and prosciutto. I substituted fresh parmesan cheese for parmesan crisps and instead of prosciutto, I used bacon jerky.
I do the balsamic glaze too- I stuff them with a walnut, a little knob of blue cheese; pop them under a broiler for a few minutes then drizzle with a little balsamic glaze…..love your idea of bacon jerky!!
Ooh! Now I’m hungry, and craving figs even more…
Fou d’Absinthe, which is aactually feeling refreshing in the heat. Heading out to the Canada Day parade in downtown Montreal in a few minutes. Happy holiday weekend to my Canadian and US perfumistas!
FdA is perfect in the heat. Icy cool and very refreshing. Have fun! 🙂
Twins! I actually don’t like Fou d’Absinthe very much, i just kind of thought there would be too many people in Phylosykos, Saffran Troublant and Dzing.
I am wearing Opone from an ancient bottle, but it still smells pretty good.
I am drinking a lotus scented green tea from Art of Tea, which is, either my suggestion or art, very relaxing.
A classic! And nearly never see it mentioned anymore.
I was going to wear Costes, but in the end my hand reached for the Gris Montaigne (thanks again, Laura!). I don’t feel too badly about it, though, because Ari is participating in today’s project for me and at least two more people. 🙂
Robin, we’re reverse-twins! I wore Safran Troublant yesterday, and chose Philosykos for today. I wish Philosykos lasted a bit longer on me, but I intend to bring my bottle to work with me so that I can refresh throughout the day. Is this the sign of an addict?
It’s got to be one of the top 10 signs 🙂
Oh! I always take the bottle to work with me, whatever I’m wearing – maybe my perfume affliction is worse (or better) than I thought 🙂
I really need to sample Safran Troublant some day. It’s one of those scents that everyone seems to know and love and I don’t remember that I’ve ever smelled it.
The only OG perfumes I have with me are things I’m not in the mood for, but I had a sudden strong craving last night for Army of Lovers, which has stuck around all night and I’ve just topped off. It isn’t weather appropriate any more than Dzing! would have been but I’m enjoying it. I may switch to Idole de Lubin later, after I’ve sweated this one off. It’s gonna be a dead-calm scorcher and I need to go out on the concrete slab and climb beneath the trailer to re-run the wiring. Blech.
I had a great slumber party in the middle of the night with everyone who visits here. I couldn’t sleep- too hot, too cold-so I caught up on the posts I had missed this week. This morning I more vividly remember the discussion about the perfume blogs. And the support for people with life changing/ challenging issues was spot on. The wit and warmth of everyone was like a cuddly familiar smelling stuffed rabbit, and I finally fell back to sleep.
Woke up and sprayed En Passant to try to stimulate my senses.
Happy 4th of July. Safe travels.
What fun! Although guess sleep would be even more fun.
“Wit and warmth” — exactly.
Wearing Dzing, which I got a small lovely decant of from the Freebie Meet. I love it and am glad the still seem to make it…?
It’s on clearance at Beautyhabit right now (packaging change).
Ooooooo.
Twins!
What a pwetty wabbit!
SOTD Hiris ????
T-Rex is looking like a pro!
She certainly thinks she’s got it all going on. ????
I love the new picture! Is T-Rex a Carolina Dog?
Origins mostly unknown. I adopted her from a local no kill shelter. They get their animals from other kill shelters around the state that are due to be euthanized. The general consensus is she looks and acts mostly like a Red Heeler.
I have a few favorites by O Giacobetti, and today I’m wearing Drole de Rose — a longtime love! xo
Drôle is such a fun scent! You smell great.
No OG. Head start on next week’s challenge in ELDO Fils de Dieu.
I’m trying IUNX l’Arbre this morning. It is woody. Sheer and woody.
Wearing my favourite Giacobetti Vamp à New York. It never fails to put a smile on my face even on a grey and rainy day like today.
Shockingly I’m halfway through my bottle of Vamp, and I can’t remember doing decants of it. So I must have actually worn all of it. It’s so lovely, it always hits the spot, plus I’ve got a backup bottle anyway.
For some reason it makes me very happy, imagining you wearing all that Vamp.
I take worrying so seriously so I’m glad that there are such carefree perfumes to compensate.
Woke up at 4:15 and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I packed for my trip to Svalbard–leaving Sunday, returning on the 18th. I think I’ve got everything I need in the medium-sized suitcase. I try not to overpack but I think I still have too much, but the carryon is too small.
Happy Canada Day to our northern folks and Happy 4th in advance to the US ones. Like others, I’m wearing En Passant today and it is just perfect.
I can’t believe it’s the first of July!
This is so fascinating! What will you be doing there? I read a book about geopolitics recently and there was a small section on Svalbard, it’s an interesting place.
I want to see what the ice looks like now and see some polar bears. Originally the trip was scheduled to go to Franz Josef Land, but the Russians are mad at the US over the Black Sea and won’t grant the ship permission to sail into Russian waters, so now it’s a circumnavigation of Svalbard. I was there in 2006 and it was fascinating. I love cold places.
I mostly hate the cold, but I do feel a connection with the far North. I understand there is some tension with the Russians over Svalbard as well, but whatever the situation, I’m very interested to hear about your trip. Do report!
Ditto on needing to try Safran Troublant..! I am weird about my vanillas, but I want to give it a whirl… Fragrantica lists Bertrand Duchaufour as the nose behind ST–anyone know the story? Saffron definitely makes repeat appearances in Duchaufour’s perfumes, but Fragrantica could just be incorrect!
I own an FB of En Passant, and a decant of Dzing! but today just wasn’t right for either… went with Hermes’ Concentre d’orange verte.
Yes, interesting – here’s what Kafkaesque blog says:
“As a side observation, Fragrantica is flat-out incorrect in its summation of the perfume. First, they have continuously listed Bertrand Duchaufour as the nose behind its creation, despite numerous comments correcting them. They also seem off on the notes, since they insist on listing “passion fruit flower” when no-one — least of all the company itself — has given any such indication or has smelled any passion fruit.”
Wait, it’s not him? Who is it then? ST is the scent that made me fall in love with him!
Olivia Giacobetti 😉
Geeeeeeeeeeeeeez. I blame the 5 h sleep I got last night because of the &@$”/ children who live upstairs from me.
I even wore it yesterday!!!
Duchaufour did do another in the set released w/ Safran Troublant, maybe that’s where the error came from.
I’m not generally a fan of vanilla in perfumes (love it in baking), but I don’t get vanilla from Safran Troublant, if that helps encourage you to try it 🙂
It’s more vanilla pudding than vanilla pod.
I apologise to those who could not care less about my cooking attempts, but as some of you have been kind enough to show interest, here’s the final menu of my The Great Game dinner:
Starters
Persian Spinach, turmeric and raisin dip (borani)
Afghan eggplant dip with garlic
Middle Eastern Focaccia with mint and sumac
Uzbek samsas with spiced pumpkin filling
Main course
Kashmiri leg of lamb with almond, coconut and rose
Baluchi-style roast chicken with sajji masala (as not everyone likes lamb)
Persian Morasa polow (jewelled rice)
Caramelised fennel with butter, orange and brown sugar
Cucumber-Watermelon-Mint salad
Hibiskus raita
Dessert
Marcolini rose, pistachio and peach macaroons (I had planned to make phirni and even made a trial batch with cardamom and rose, but was out of time and energy in the end)
Assam tea
I’m tired but happy, as the dinner went well. As a consequence, I’m not wearing Giacobetti: I wore Mohur extrait yesterday to match the dinner theme and I wanted to wear it again today.
I for one am deeply disappointed by the lack of Giacobetti 😉
Good to hear it all went well.
And rightly so! But I’ve been thinking about buying a small bottle of Dzing!
Wow. I am out of words. Does not it seem like it would be done by somebody managing an army of cooks and kitchen maidens?
To be fair, J helped me with shopping and chopping and my sister ran to the shop in the last minute when I had a puff pastry emergency. But yeah, cooking for 12 is a serious undertaking, it took me 6+ hours on two consecutive days to get this done.
6 hours is very good for that menu. I can’t wait to read more about it.
But on two days, so more than 12 our in total.
Ok- not as spectacular, but very admirable ????
*hours, of course.
I’m interested in everybody’s goings-on anyway, but I particularly never pass on the opportunity to hear about food! We very rarely entertain so I admire your efforts very much.
Yes, food is always of interest to me, too 🙂
Tired but happy is good! Hope some of the recipes will appear on LICC over the coming period 🙂
I plan to write about it, yes, but the problem is I never have any pictures of my dinner parties – it’s too dark by the time the food is ready and obviously, real dinner party situations do not facilitate copious photo taking.
Wow! Absolutely wonderful and inspiring. I love food and cooking, but rarely manage anything like this.
I manage something like that two, maybe three times a year. I love it, but there’s no denying that it’s tough.
If ever you need help eating your food, I’ll be on the next plane to Belgium to visit you.
You are always welcome, if you’re ever in Brussels.
How kind of you! You know, it’s been a while since I’ve been to Brussels.
Sounds amazing! I’ll be making watermelon salad this weekend for our bbq, sans the cucumber, with feta.
I love that combination too, but with all the rich dishes I had, I thought I’d go with a lighter version.
Now I’m hungry and drooling ever so slightly ???? sounds like it was a delicious feast.
🙂 I almost didn’t eat anything myself, as I cannot eat when I’m anxious.
A beautifully fragrant meal. Did you make the focaccia from scratch? I tip my hat to your starters in particular. Perfect!!!!!
I did! My first focaccia ever, if I’m not counting the trial one I made the day before. I used the recipe in Persiana that I followed very precisely for the dough and the process and more loosely for the flavourings.
I’m so impressed that I just ordered the cookbook!
You get an Enabler Fork for that you know!
It’s not the most spectacular of my Middle Eastern cookbooks, but it’s very accessible and one I use very often. There’s also a lamb shoulder recipe in there that I love. Another one I’ve discovered recently is Under the Tamarind Tree, about Pakistani food – I find it fascinating. The leg of lamb was from there.
For Persian food, “accessible” is key for me. For Middle Eastern cooking, I’ve loved Yotam Ottolenghi’s Plenty, and Jerusalem (with Sami Tamimi), both of which you may already own–but if not, get thee to a bookshop. Super accessible and fun!
Persiana is such a great cookbook. Your meal sounds amazing. Even when I did do dinner parties, I never cooked so much for so many. You are a pro!
It really is a nice one. Do you know that she has a new book out, Sirocco? I prefer the first, but Sirocco is definitely worth a look, too. And I’m no pro, I’m a very enthusiastic amateur???? I’m good with the conceptual side, though, and years of cooking are now paying off as well – I feel more confident and rarely go totally wrong.
Why no more dinner parties?
At some point work became so overwhelming that my husband started cooking and we rarely have the energy for dinner parties. When we see people, it’s almost always at restaurants. It really is too bad, as we both like cooking for other people, although much simpler than your feasts! Perhaps I’ll be inspired. (Although we can only really fit six, eight tops!)
That sounds like an incredible feast, and an incredible feat to creat it. Yum.
Thank you!
That sounds amazing! Both the food and the skill to create it.
There’s nothing overly technical among these things, really. OK, the Persian rice can be a challenge the first time, but that wasn’t new to me. Where you need some experience, though, is the planning and timing. When there are so many dishes, it a bit of a juggling act and you need to know how fast (or not) you are.
It’s the planning and the timing. Exactly!
I care, even if it causes drooling
This is why the Star Trek transporter needs to be developed — not so I could rudely crash the dinner party, but so that a small portion of each dish could materialize in front of me — a generous fee would be paid.
Wow! That was a lot of work (even if enjoyable), so I’m glad it went well for you. Just reading that made my mouth water, and I even caught myself trying to sniff in the aromas! Alas, the sniffable blog has not yet been invented.
Thé Pour Un Été from L’Artisan for me. I’m surprised not to see more people wearing this. I think it’s pretty perfect in the summer and may be my next FB.
I also own Tea for Two and Dzing! and have a decant of Costes 2 and some other samples like Andree Putman Preparation Parfumee. Olivia is probably the one nose I have the most of. Funny sentence, but you all know what I mean.
Happy weekend and happy 4th to my fellow U.S. perfumistas.
I’ve never tried Thé pour un été, but the name has always made me think it might be similar to Tea for Two. Can you comment on that? I tried Tea for Two once in a shop and loved it. I should just get samples of both of those scents.
Koyel,
Thé Pour Un Été has no similarity to Tea for Two to my nose. It’s all light lemony jasminey summer tea. No smoke or spices. In fact, I find it more wearable than Tea for Two, but I love both of them. I have a bottle of TFT and have just ordered TPUT – I would be happy to send you samples of both if you are located in the U.S. You can click on my username above to find my email.
I think I’m the only one wearing I Love Les Carottes today?
My bunnies think it’s the finest thing they’ve ever smelled…. 🙂 I wish I had bought her Coconut one from the Honore’ des Pres line, and I liked Vamp, too. Now they are gone, and I only have 5ml left of the Carottes!
It was a choice between the Carottes and Hiris, Hiris won, I love them both.
I’m in Dzing! today. Several people suggested it’s worth wearing in the summer, and I don’t remember who you are – but thanks! (Today it is cool-for-summer-in-Oklahoma, anyway.) Also, I’m trying to get through enough of my bottle to justify purchasing a lady and the tiger bottle before those disappear.
I never noticed the Dzing! bottle has a lady and a tiger. Adorable!
That’s so funny – I think it was the lady and the tiger that made me notice it in the first place!
Twins! And I’m totally with you on wanting that original bottle/label.
My Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day did improve yesterday and I am thankful for all the well wishes.
Today I am wearing O de L`Orangerie compliments of the very generous Hajusuuri from the Freebiemeet. 🙂
It is a perfect summer scent of jasmine, orange blossom and a little wood for good measure.
Glad your day got better!
Glad to hear that.
At home this morning with En Passant on one arm and Hiris on the other. Will shower soon and pick one before going out. They are both great although Hiris probably more me. . .
half twins, I’m in En Passant today.
Twins!
Twins! or half Hiris twins. You smell wonderful. 😉
I ended up switching to Still Life – utterly different but good for the heat here. There is something very pleasing about it, but not sure or FB wish list worthy.
Although it is not quite the season for it, I dug out AG’s Sables In honour of Canada day…mmm…maple syrup!
Mmmmm, maple syrup. You smell fabulous. And now I want waffles. And pancakes. 😀
Hey, I saw a rabbit on my walk this morning. Also a yellow warbler. Bonus good luck, perhaps.
Scent of the week was Hiris, and I could happily wear it for another week or month or longer.
Something random for your Friday:
https://gethiris.com/
Hiris is a modular, wearable computer!
A rabbit sighting on the first of the month must be extra good luck!
Hey, I want one of those!
Nice, it looks big on top of large gloves and may be bigger than my wrist!
En Passant on the left hand the Dzing on the right. I’ve been alternating these two all week and of course I had to wear them both for the Friday project.
I really enjoy the Friday projects because they make me dig out parts of the collection I haven’t set eyes on for months! Rediscover the fascination with perfume, which I must say had dwindled somewhat.
Half-twin with Dzing!
Another Safran Troublant-nik here. I’m wearing it even though it is smotheringly humid outside. Sometimes need outweighs logic. 😉
Happy Friday! Late to this- Beginning of the fiscal year. Why doesn’t the Western World just start the year in spring or summer? That makes more sense. Or during harvest. I mean, wasn’t that how it was done before?
1) Keeping it OG with Diptyque Philosykos. This is light, but rich, sweet and intriguing, and on a moderately warm summer day, perfect. This is from a sample I got last year.
2) I have a long weekend- not back to work until next Wednesday- so will be picking at sales!
Just wanted to say thanks for answering my question the other day about your body oil! (I didn’t get to respond immediately so ended up forgetting.)
I’m in Hiris too (hi all my twins!). I think that if I ever hear the terrible words “you can only wear one perfume for the rest of your life”, Hiris would be my choice. It’s just that perfect to me.
*waves* 😀
Hello, I am in Hiris too. It seems so under appreciated these days..
I’m in Dzing! for today’s project–fab!
Happy Canada Day and/or Happy Friday to you!
Sorry your team didn’t make it all the way in the CWS. But at least it was an exciting ride all the way til the end . . . I suspect they went further than either of our favorite MLB teams will this year, but you never know (crosses fingers and prays until the very end).
I’m only upset that the ump robbed them of a run they scored–which would have gotten the game into extra innings. Otherwise, I’d say having been picked to finish 9th in the PAC and yet getting to the CWS Final and ending up as what amounts to 2nd in the nation is quite a lot for them to be proud of!
As for our MLB teams: It’s a long season, and they’re only halfway now. You never know what could happen. As Yogi said, “It ain’t over till it’s over!” (Also, it helps to have back-up teams. ????)
Forgot all about OG day today. Ended up overdoing it with rose: Tauer rose oil and rose flash. And for some reason am wearing a rose dress which is very unlike me
Yay for roses! You look and smell lovely.
You might have more rose coming your way…
I’m not working today and have been running around town doing all the things. Left the house scentless, but have returned smelling of Dior Grand Bal and Bois d’Argent. Came home with several more Dior samples. Yay! The SA was great. She actually knew something about the perfume she is selling. A rarity.
Reading about everyone’s Giacobetti day is giving me a case of paralysis. I don’t know which one to pick! They are all so beautiful! We are going to the theatre to see Phantom of the Opera tonight, so I want to be properly scented for the occasion. This is not going to be easy…
SOTD En Passant. Pretty but too short lived.
My nickname for it is In Passing, brief but worthy… ????
Happy Friday to everyone. We’re in Saturday already, and I celebrated the approaching weekend yesterday with a hefty application of Safran Troublant. It is gorgeous and I don’t know I took such a long time to get an FB late last year.
I’m now contemplating what I should waer this morning to make the housework more interesting – 24 Faubourg has done the trick in the past, and is calling out to me right now!
Sadly, no Olivia Giacobetti here.
SOTD Fresh Cannabis Rose. It’s an overcast, cool Canada day here on the West Coast, so something warm seemed called for: roses to imitate a sunny July day and patchouli for warmth.
This really should be called Patchouli Rose, but then I grew up in the era when patchouli oil was used to cover the smell of weed, but ended up being a dead giveaway. The current name does honour the West Coast vibe. 😉
Have you tried Ann Gerard Rose Cut? It’s a sheer rose patchouli.
I haven’t, but I’ve read lovely comments about it.
I left work a little early and decided to go to Brooklyn. At Atelier Cologne, I got my humongo bottle of Cedrat Enivrant, 2 bottles of the shower gel and 2 bars of soap and for my freebie, Sous le toit de Paris. For the first time ever, I got the purple leather case engraved. I didn’t know that Atelier Cologne was bought out by L’Oreal! I may have predicted this a few month’s back but of course can’t remember why I brought it up to begin with back then. Anyway, I’m a happy camper with my AC purchases because I found out that the discount was only supposed to be 15% but someone made a mistake on a subsequent email which indicated 20% off!
And when in Brooklyn…one must stop by Twisted Lily! I did my usual sniffing around and ended up with 2 sets of the 4x 3mL Nomenclature Discovery Set (they are perfumath free at $20 each – peeps, this 12 mLs of juice for $20!!!) and a bottle of Aroma M Vanille Hinoki plus a bunch of samples.
Lucky you! I was supposed to be in Brooklyn last weekend and was planning an in person trip to Twisted Lily, but we had to cancel at the last minute. My visit will come someday soon. Happy weekend.
Have you ever been? It’s a treat!
Re: L’Oreal. It looks like Lauder and L’Oreal are in a battle to be the “one that rules them all,” with Shiseido running in 3rd place.
Love how the head of L’Oreal’s “selective” divisions refers to “alternative” perfumery.
Seems like all the niche perfume houses are being gobbled up!
It sounds like a perfectly delightful day. So, L’oreal? What does that mean for Atelier? It’s almost like some of the best perfume houses are like tech start-ups. Do their best so they can be bought out by a conglomerate. Perhaps that is cynical. A visit to Twisted Lily might restore a sense of idealism. And the “free” Nomenclature sounds too good to pass up. Enjoy all the goodies!
Supposedly Sylvie and Christophe will continue their creative direction, with more $$$ for R&D. I have visions of Atelier Cologne, coming soon to a Macy’s near you but the SA was horrified when he heard me say that out loud and said no no probably a Nordstrom.
Nordstrom is a very good guess, since they just picked up Le Labo. But don’t count Macy’s out yet! They acquired bluemercury last year, so they may be looking to go more upscale/niche.
Drôle de Rose.
Premier Figuier for me! Often figgy perfumes go sour on me but this was just perfect all day. Happy long weekend everyone!
