Happy Hump Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I am cheating this morning: no fragrance on my person, but I'm trying 4160 Tuesdays Goddess of Love & Perfume (big fruity chypre) on a scent strip.
Reminder: on 7/1, wear a fragrance by Olivia Giacobetti, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Pantone color is Peach Echo, one of the top 10 colors for Spring 2016 — "PANTONE 16-1548, Peach Echo, a shade that emanates friendlier qualities, evoking warmth and accessibility. It is an all-encompassing, tempered companion in the playful orange family."
En Passant, another Giacobetti gem. Drinking Thé des Moines.
Yum!
lovely.
Twins! This is the most SPECTACULAR lilac I’ve smelled not on a tree! I’m so in love with my sample.
One of my favourites too!
You smell lovely. I’m saving this for Friday as it is one of my few OGs.
Commenting late today, but triplets!
Fou d’Absinthe, wore it a lot a couple of weeks ago too. 🙂
That’s a good one.
Midweek already? Try to plunge into my end-of-month reviews and get ur done….Let’s roll!
SOTD: Island Fantasy, by perfume conglomerate Britney Spears! 🙂 I like this one a lot…fruity, simple, summer!
Have a great day y’all!
Britney might end up being last one standing — so many celeb fragrance lines have fallen.
I haven’t seen “Private Show” out yet…..LOL I’ll give it a sniff when I find it. I like iced coffee!
She’s probably making more moolah in perfume than music these days….who knows?
Her and Jessica Simpson! Both really to have seemed to find good teams to make their scents!
You can still see her perform in Vegas. Mr. Spicebomb and I were disappointed we missed out last time I had a trip there–not a month she was performing. (Gotta go once, right?!)
I am doing last weeks community project since I don’t own any OG perfumes.
I am sampling Sharini natural perfumes : Iris Veritable & Santal Blanc. Didn’t work for me so now I am Cepes and Tuberose
Tea MF French Breakfast and wearing two beautiful Lodolite crystals
I love Lodolite. I’m still kicking myself for not buying the most gorgeous strand at the bead shop last summer. Sometimes I shouldn’t listen to that thrifty voice of reason or my grumbling husband.
I love Lodolite as well, and some days I wear all 2 that I have together. I just have the single crystal on a chain but I love the noise they make when the clink together
What did you not like about Sharini? I’ve got a sample of one that I’ve not opened yet.
They are actually good, I just wanted something more earthy and floral the two I sampled weren’t robust enough for the mood I am in today. Let me know when you try your sample and we can discuss. Which one do you have?
I think it’s Jasmine Celeste, but I’m not 100% sure on that. I’ve not looked at it in a while.
Costes No. 1, which I haven’t worn in years and years. I smell like expensive soap.
I am drinking soda water.
I’m sure I have not worn Costes in years either. Loved those bottles but never bought one.
ELdO Tom of Finland. You’d think it would be pure sex but it’s an outdoorsy pine-needle leather, soft and dusty and kind of nuzzly. Comfort leather. I really like it.
Sounds delish.
“Nuzzly” is a wonderful word.
Oh, that sounds very, very nice indeed!
I didn’t think that I would like the pine, but it is very subtle.
I really enjoy this one. You smell great!
I spent too much time deciding on a fragrance, now I’m running late. I’m wearing Dame’s Desert Rose.
I keep meaning to give this one a shot in really hot weather, because I’m pretty sure it’s not for me but I’m not 100% certain. I do really appreciate how cheerful it is, though – that peach start is so light-hearted!
You smell great!
Teo Cabanel Lace Garden. First time…lovely perfume on a clear sunny day.
You smell wonderful!
That one is a beauty.
This is a nice one. You smell good!
That’s a beautiful perfume.
I broke down and got Alahine. Lace Garden is gorgeous in the floral from the house. Are the other Teo Cabanel fragrances as enchanting?
SOTD: Soleil Blanc by Mr. Ford.
First impression is Bronze Goddess meets Beach from Bobbi Brown with a huge smothering of Coppertone.
I have wanted to try that fragrance out Robin. Will a review be coming? 🙂
Yes…will probably do quick reviews of a few from this line. But big fruity chypres are not so terribly my thing. I’ve learned to love a couple (Diorella, Therese) but owning the two probably fills all my needs 🙂
I am still trying to learn to love aquatics; they seem to make me feel like I just came out of the pool more often than not 😛
Wearing a single spray of Sideris from the travel size I bought yesterday since I was badly craving it. Heading out for breakfast and some sniffing though I haven’t decided where yet
Yum. I like it in the heat.
You smell lovely.
Almost twin (sisters maybe) – I’m wearing Cinabre. Sideris is my other favorite from the line (at least so far, I haven’t tried them all).
Tea for Two- spices and smoky tea.
Commenting on the food aroma post, tomato gravy reminds me of my wonderful Mom! R.I.P.
And it is colloquially referred to as gravy, not sauce, where I’m from. YMMMV
Where are you from? I think I first heard that in New Jersey, but I might be remembering wrong.
Born and raised in the Philadelphia sururbs. I think all the Italian-Americans in this area refer similarly.
Not sure about NYC area.
Thanks!
Sounds like it might be other places too.
Totally a Phillie-NJ thing!
That’s what I thought but wasn’t sure.
My husband’s family call tomato sauce gravy where I live too.
My husband’s Italian family calls it gravy, too.
AND…I’m also in Tea for Two today. Such a great fragrance.
It’s called gravy here, too.
Off to a bad start today. In addition to messing up my nail polish, I couldn’t find the samples I just ordered anywhere, and got worried I accidentally threw them out in their bubble wrap. I didn’t find them in the kitchen trash, but couldn’t really bring myself to sift all the way to the bottom (especially since it was well after 9am).
Neither of those things is really too dramatic, but compounded with an already frustrating week at work, it had a strangely big impact.
Wearing Jasmin et Cigarette and desperately wanting to give up on today and start over tomorrow.
I hope your day pulls itself together soon. I lose stuff all the time (today even) and it pops up again when you least expect it.
May your day improve! (I’m sure J&C will help.)
I think we are more on edge in general. I hope things improve. I wasted time counting samples and found three that just weren’t sent. Had to E mail about that. Then I think I really need to be doing something else. Then I turn on the TV. Then circled back to focusing on perfume which is generally meditative and therapeutic.
I misplace samples all the time..:(
Hate leaving thehouse with messed up nail polish. Adds an unprofessional touch to my work outfit. Well, at least you smell great!
Hope the day improves and JC is a good smell anytime!
Beautiful image today.
I’m in Chanel’s Eau Premiere today, also lovely. I really wanted to wear Beige but couldn’t find the decant. Weekend project must be to organize my samples/decants.
I always think I know just where samples are and then . . . don’t.
I’m in copious amounts of Chanel 19 EDP.
I love no 19! I love it in the EDP form the best. You smell lovely.
Gorgeous! I am visiting family all weekend and I’ve already decided that No 19 is my “travel” scent to carry me for 5 days!!!
Good choice. It’s very versitile!
It’s one of the few that I could be confident I wouldn’t grow tired of in five days.
You smell elegant and lovely!
Hard to overspray that one!
That is always so poised and lovely. Not to mention perfect for the heat (assuming you are enjoying some where you are).
Thanks everyone!
Twin! 5 sprays…I think I’ll up it by 2 more next time…
I’m in Voile de Violette by SSS and really wanting a bottle of this. I took it on vacation with me and it was one of two fragrances that lasted the day (through morning and afternoon hiking – the other frag to last was Forest Walk).
However, I *always* want a bottle of something. And that got me thinking about curbing my perfume desires a bit – mostly because financially I can’t afford to buy much of anything right now, but still….
I put all my perfume in the basement while I was on vacation so they wouldn’t go off in a hot house. I’ve yet to actually put them all back in the bedroom because the temps have been so weird lately. So I’ve just been grabbing samples of stuff to wear and keep in one of my drawers. I’m almost liking the idea of doing this until I’ve gone through a large amount of my sample stash, but we’ll see how long that lasts…
Voile de Violette is my fav violet fragrance b/c it is so well balanced. I have a tendency to always smell plastic with violets, and I never got that with VdV.
I”m really amazed at how strong it is and long lasting.
I so sympathise with your comments – why do we always want something? I try to calm it down sometimes and had a similar experience to you when I moved for a bit and had limited access to some perfumes – but I did miss some of the others…
I recently moved my perfumes to a cooler part of the house, too. (Small collection, it only took 5 minutes. 😀 ). The samples and decants are now in a drawer, the bottles are on a low shelf. It has been fun to sort through the samples and use them up. I started putting the empty vials in a shot glass so I can see my progress.
The only downside has been that the bedroom clothes closet where the fragrances used to reside no longer smells like a perfume shop. So I tucked a few bars of lavender soap in there to freshen things up.
I gave away so many samples during the freebie meet..they were starting to take over some space and in NYC you need space
Not in NYC but am in a small apartment with very little storage. I just realized this a.m. that the 2 bottles I bought online yesterday will max out my current perfume storage drawer and I have nowhere to expand… I’ll have to be creative.
As to samples, I’ve realized they just stress me out so I’ve cut way back on buying them. For some reason carded manufacturer’s samples don’t and I’ve bought quite a few of late. But the carded ones are way easier to store and organize, so maybe that has something to do with it.
In celebration of yesterday’s little rain shower that perked my yard up and partially refilled my rain bucket, I’m wearing Terracotta le Parfum. I consider this almost a textbook summertime scent. It really never feels very “me” but I enjoy it even if I’m constantly looking for the woman who smells so nice.
Today I’m packing up and will be spending the afternoon in the car with no radio, a grumpy husband (because of the no radio), and two indignant cats. We’re off to Mom’s for a week of frolicking (the cats), and back-breaking labor (the humans). The not having to scoop the cat box or wash dishes and the chance to swim in the river make it all worthwhile.
Mm, a car with no radio and two cats sounds like a joy. At least you smell good. Hope it’s a good trip!
Sounds like a great trip! I had to clean cat puke yesterday which is always lovely!
I had a bottle of terracotta once but passed it off to someone on this blog..
Gosh, I love Terracotta. It is so perfectly great in spring and summer. When it is really hot I alternate Terracotta with an eau de Cologne.
I feel the same way about “textbook” beachy summer scents. They’re fun and can be really transportive but they never feel quite “me,” so I’m always a bit self conscious when I wear them. I also tend to enjoy them more in spring – in anticipation of warm weather to come – than during summer itself.
I’m wearing En Passant because a) I love it b) it’s by Giacobetti and c) my FM travel spray case has just arrived. I am so glad that all the Malles are available as single travel sprays – for most things, this is exactly the amount I need. And the red travel case is beautiful, so I don’t miss the bottles at all (also, 30 euros seems a very reasonable price in today’s perfume world).
Twins!
Good!
I’ve noticed how you always like to recommend the travel sizes of scents and you’re right, in many cases it is really economical and convenient for on-the-go scent.
It of course depends – for people who are loyal to a handful of scents, it would make no sense. But I’m very promiscuous and while I would always need a full bottle of, say, Chanel Cristalle, I definitely don’t need a FB of Portrait of a Lady.
Also, many people would never be able to afford a bottle of Carnal Flower – or any other Malle, for that matter. If one really likes it, 10ml is much better than nothing.
I was just on the Barneys website and noticed that they sell the 15th Anniversary Collection Boxes in 2 sizes including the red travel case. Not to enable or anything.
Yes, I know. But I have the original coffret (the 5ml one), so I really cannot justify another. But I plan to buy a few other single travel sprays for sure.
you smell wonderful.
Thanks! It’s such a lovely scent.
I’m saving this one for Friday. I also have the red case–and a 10 ml of En Passant. 😀
A thoroughly perfect lilac scent.
Planning to buy some of the 10 ml sprays soon. I am SO glad they finally sell them individually!
FM is one of those lines that is *so* much more expensive in the US than in the Euro-zone. I stocked up when I was lucky enough to be in Paris in January. The 10ml are genius as they do allow many more people to experience the perfumes and for many of them, that’s all I’d ever need. (I actually bought 100ml of Une Rose, I love and wear it so much, but I am a little crazy. And I never would have spent the money in US dollars.)
Triplets here as well 🙂
I am wearing Ostara today. I had a stressful night yesterday since I wasn’t sure if my cousin who was supposed to come from Istanbul was safe but luckily he has landed safely to Montreal, I have a busy weekend ahead .
Glad everything worked out and your cousin is safe!
SOTD is the ever perfect, seasonless, gorgeous Teo Cabanel Alahine. When nothing else will do…..
Well this post ended up in the wrong place, LOL! That is what I get for doing 3 things at once.
Hera – I’m glad your cousin is safe.
Ugh, what horrible stress. I am so glad your cousin is safe!
Glad to hear all is okay with your cousin!
Thank you. I can say that it was an eventful night, theirs was one of the last flights that left the airport before the attacks have happened ,they weren’t aware of it and they have been greeted here by the CBC television crew.
Such a scary ordeal! Glad they are home safe.
Oh how terrifying. I am glad your family is safe.
What a relief your cousin is safe!
How scary! I’m glad all’s well.
Very scary. My sister flew through there last week, and will be going back through in a couple more weeks.
I had a vanilla craving this morning (inspired, I think, by Angela’s review of Fetes Persanes) and am satisfying it with AC Vanille insensee. Do you all have favorite vanillas for summer?
You smell great. Vanille Insensee is lovely
Oddly, I’ve been craving smoky vanilla’s this summer. My favorite summer time vanilla is La Danza delle Libellule. Once past the opening, it reminds me of Tihota.
I love ELDO Bijou Romantique in the summer
Bijou Romantique is a wintertime staple for me. I’ll have to try it in summer!
Thanks for the suggestions, Petunia (and for the compliment, Lucasai).
I wore Acqua Di Parma Blue Mediterraneo Mandorlo Di Sicilia for a couple of summers. I guess technically it’s almond, not vanilla, but on me it smells like creme soda, so I associate it with vanilla.
Hello everyone.
I’m in Blanche Immortelle from Atelier Cologne today. It felt rather crisp on this cloudy and windy day with occasional rain.
Just a note in the wrong place, Lucas, to say how much I loved your Anatole Lebreton review. I ran off to order small decants of all four of the perfumes in very short order.
Hi Amy!
That’s great. To me the whole line is really interesting, the perfumes are so different.
Eau Scandaleuse is a leathery tuberose. So divine. I might wear it tomorrow 😀
+1 on Scandaleuse. Love it
Wearing Flora Nymphea today and happy that it’s raining here today and knocking down the pollen. Between the gypsy moth caterpillars and the pollen, it’s been a crumby summer despite our perfect weather. I’m allergic to both. Have a great day Nstrs!
Were you able to tame the moth population?
Gosh, No! My husband sprayed our tree trunks with insecticide as far as he could reach. That hopefully killed the some caterpillars and their eggs. The hair on the their spines contains histamine which can cause itchy rashes in people who are allergic. Someone I know contracted a respiratory infection from mowing his grass and needed antibiotics. Many of the trees in my yard have been decimated. Except for the green grass, it could be fall. Hopefully, the trees will recover next year. The only thing we can do is scrape their eggs off the tree bark and let them sit in soapy water for a few days to kill them. The cycle is beginning to slow down. I’m seeing less of them everyday. Thank goodness!
Oh my! Sounds like a plague.
You may just have explained my husband’s allergy problem!
I’ve been wheezing for several weeks now. The stuff is blowing in the air in my area.
The dental school is really annoying me along with working in a bakery. I normally have Fridays off but since it’s the holiday weekend, I have to work Friday and have to cancel my dentist appointment. It sucks that the tooth that the student worked on, part of the tooth broke and I’m trying to get into the dentist today. So far, I’m getting nothing but the voicemail. So it looks like I am going to have to reschedule that appointment.
Right now, I’m testing out Interlude Man and not caring for it too much. I smell like a dirty, stale ash tray. I think it’s the oregano and the agarwood smoke that’s doing it. After my shower, I will probably wear Amouage Epic, Memoir or Lyric today.
Ugh, tooth issues! Please consider just going immediately and doing a drop in at the school. Tooth issues have a lovely way of getting worse.
I’m thinking about it and I did hear back from the school. The student that is working with me isn’t in the school today because he has meetings that last quite a while but the receptionist is giving him my message and hopefully I will hear from him on what to do in the meantime until my appointment on Wednsday. Besides scrubbing that area really good and using mouthwash, I can’t think of what else to really do besides that and watch for an infection.
Clove works well as an anti-septic, as well as an anti-inflammatory and numbing agent. That’s the reason dentists use clove oil on gauze to pack the socket of a pulled tooth if the socket becomes dry while healing.
I have popped a whole clove into a broken tooth if I can’t get a same-day appointment
Ugh, tooth issues. Hope you’re able to get that taken care of soon – dental problems have a way of making one feel awful.
Interlude Man has a very pronounced ashy note, but on my skin it works beautifully. More incense burner than ash tray.
What’s that, you say? An excuse to wear Thé Pour Un Été? Don’t mind if I do! 😀
🙂
I agree
Really like this one. It’s just what the doctor ordered on a hot, sunny day.
Perfect! Wish I had mine with me.
I’m wearing Jo Malone peony & Blush Suede. Very cozy scent.
Very cozy and pretty. I gave a small bottle of this to my sister in law when she had just had a baby, thinking she wouldn’t really want much perfume, but this was something she could sniff for comfort moments.
A very thoughtful gift. You are a wonderful sister in law 🙂
Cool and rainy, decided to wear Tonka Imperiale. It’s not too sweet or cloying for a gourmand.
you smell great.
The weather in Montreal seems to follow its own rules. It must be a great place for perfume matching. Have a happy day (or night – whatever it is).
Happy Wednesday!
1) Ran all sorts of errands yesterday and bought glasses- a very expensive afternoon indeed. Started the day at 530 AM and came home at 7 PM. Fell asleep while trying eat dinner.
2) Needed a refreshing shower, so did a deep scrub with Vetiver+Clove soap (Camamu, Portland, Oregon) and generous spray of Tom Ford Vetiver. I smell very clean and feel awake!
Oh, am listening to Monocle 24 in the office (by the makers of the same magazine). It’s like a BBC for the 1% or those who aspire to be that ideal. Good stuff.
shopping all day sounds wonderful!
OMG, it was needed (glasses, summer things, new bed linens and yes a couple of bottles of Rose) but so expensive. But this is a lot of delayed self care, so it was worth it. But I practically went to sleep in my salad! 🙂
I love the TF Vetiver – elegant, edgy and instant cooling when needed. Sounds like a fun day.
Oh, must get this for my husband to try. He loves a good vetiver – and so do I!
Please try it! It’s really good and you can get a BIG bottle for about $115 or less from a discounter.
What style of frames did you get? I would love to have a drawer full of different styles to choose from.
I got these very Scandinavian, rectangle frames for my distance glasses and sorta airplane pilot looking glasses for my prescription sunglasses. Yes, yes I have those slide over glasses but I really wanted something comfy and very stylish for walking around town or biking. And I think in a few months I am going to get some readers for the lab.
Also, I realised the afternoon was not that expensive as my health saving account will cover the cost. WHEW!
Hey, that sounds great. I have Rayban wayfarers with my prescription lenses and they are transitional . But, the ‘transition’ part is getting slower and slower so it takes ages for the tint to fade when I go indoors.
Gosh, it seems like there are some common themes among us! It’s been a discombobulating week for me as well.
Robin, thanks for the PSA via twitter regarding confirmation of the discontinuation of Absolue Pour le Soir (sob). This comes right on the heels of my declaration that I will NOT be buying anything until I get what I have sorted. Being the rational sort, I have just realized that buying a new bottle will actually save me money when compared to the cost of the prolonged (probably ineffective and no fun!) therapy sessions that would address my (supposed) perfume addiction.
I’m wearing Puredistance White which was gifted to me by a perfume fairy in a package so gorgeous and decadent that I burst into tears. Thank you!
NO — Francis Kurkdjian replied on Twitter to whomever that it was NOT discontinued. So I have a feeling that it is a distribution thing. So sorry, I read that late last night and should have retweeted that too.
Just found it and retweeted it.
I was so happy to have read the non-discontinuation news, thus saving me from a sudden, desperation purchase. Now I can continue to dither about Absolue Pour Le Soir indefinitely 🙂
Which is its own kind of enjoyment!
Yay! Thank you, Robin! I remember him saying on Persolaise that another batch was in production, so the info circulating has been somewhat confusing. I should know better by now, right? Sigh …
Yeah. I have mostly stopped reporting discontinuations and should stop retweeting too. People want to know, but it’s so often wrong.
I continually hear rumors of this being discontinued – it seems the discontinuation and re-launch of Cologne pour le Soir as Grand Soir has everyone confused.
Thanks for the clarification. I was about to push the panic button but now I can delay that and actually save some money to get a bottle.
Does anyone here have any influence with Francis Kurkdjian? If so please ask him to sell Absolue in a smaller bottle! I am crazy about this perfume but don’t need any more than 15 or 30 mls (its strong stuff). I’d probably even go for a 50 ml bottle if it was available. I suppose I will just have to make due with a decant, but I would really prefer a pretty bottle.
Of course I meant Absolue Pour le Soir . . .
Nothing this morning as I am planning on visiting Barneys and Tiger Lily for some needed Parfum therapy!!!
Wow, that sounds like a wonderful way to spend a Wednesday morning. Barneys is so la-di-da and TigerLily is so homey.
And, they are both full of amazing scents!!
Have a great day.
Yeah I have an alphabetized list of things to try to ensure I maximize my kid-free time
I’m in Cristalle edp today. Green goodness for this hot day.
You smell lovely!
????Thanks, Petunia!
You do indeed smell perfect for the heat – such a lovely perfume.
Thanks! It does work well in the heat.
*There’s a little typo/Freudian slip in the text today, Robin. “Scent trip” instead of scent strip. (Although plenty fragrances would qualify as scent trips, of course!)
I am feeling unfortunately congested and kinda icky this morning, so no SOTM, yet. It does not seem fair to get sick over the summer–I can’t even blame my students! I am torn between ignoring it and continuing with my endless to-do list (a summer staple for many teachers) and letting it go for a day or two and resting properly. I know I should rest, but there’s SOOOoooo much to do–including replacing the ceiling fan that came crashing down a couple days ago! (Good riddance, really, it’s an ugly thing!)
I vote for resting. You deserve it.
The only nice thing about being sick in the summer is that you get to completely indulge yourself without guilt. I hope you feel better soon!
Hope you feel better soon! I spent the last 2 summers down for the count with sinus infections that were impervious to antibiotics and you’re right – it’s not fair, especially when you live in a region where the weather is nasty all year long save a couple of months in summer 🙁
Take it easy and attack your projects later…
I noted the “scent trip” too! A fun typo, though – a scent trip would be a blast.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
HA!! Off to fix, at 4 pm — how ridiculous.
Oh, and thank you.
I was so busy yesterday I didn’t have time to put on perfume and dinner consisted of potato chips, cherries, and asparagus since the new dog pushed the microwave on the floor and broke it. Vacation is coming up on Sunday and is starting to look good. Today I’m sampling Le Labo Santal 33 and it is an odd, Australian sandalwood/pine scent on me. Interesting, but I don’t need any more of it. Money saved!
Ha! I have many dinners like that. At least there were vegetables.
Yes, I tried Le Labo Santal 33 after reading so much praise that I fully expected to be smitten, and instead my reaction was pretty much like yours – interesting, but don’t need any more of it!
so many people loved Santal 33, I was not one of them
Santal 33 is a scent that eludes me, if that makes any sense?
If I didn’t have a person who insisted on regular dinners, this is what I’d eat every night!
OH NOES BROKEN MICROWAVE.
I had one bite the dust on Christmas Eve a couple of years ago, and I rushed out to the home store to buy a new one at 5:52 pm, just before the store closed. CanNOT be without my microwave. 🙁
Yep–I realized that I heat my lunch and reheat leftovers so much that I needed to replace it right away. I got a new one last night.
Sounds like Willow has a lot of character. Maybe she was an interior decorator or a chef in a previous life. Give her a pat from me.
Honore des Pres Love les Carottes. Probably my prettiest fragrance.
I am completely fascinated by this fragrance name. Or, perhaps, there is another fragrance of a similar name, and I am fascinated by both. In any event, I have to start sampling all the fragrances mentioning carottes.
I only know of this one and the other that Giacobetti did for l’Artisan that have it in the name. Both are great (I think but not many people agree), and both seem to be discontinued. So, if you are not already crazy about them, perhaps better not to sample at this point? I was too late in the game for Fleur de Carotte, sampled it, loved it, and am now reduced to hoping that l’Artisan will reissue it. Of course, I can send you a sample of Honore des Pres.
I believe OG is the nose behind L’Artisan’s Figuier scents (regular and extreme versions) as well as their Safran Troublant.
Oh, it’s like a work of art for me – having them, although wonderful, is not necessary for me 🙂 It would be wonderful if you could send me some, I can be reached at librik on yahoo. Tell me what you’re looking to sample, perchance I have it 🙂
Natalya, I just sent you an e-mail.
SOTD is Bulgari Omnia Paraiba – so glad I bought a big bottle.
Any Jeopardy! fans out there? I will be on next Tuesday, July 5! And guess what I’ll talk about in my interview segment? Yes, perfume! They have you prepare a few personal tidbits about your job, hobbies, kids, etc and then Alex picks what he wants to discuss. So I gt to talk about perfume for a minute. Check me out next week!
Will definitely look for you! My husband is an avid Jeopardy fan. You’re living his dream, minus the perfume part.
Cool!!! Good luck!!
So exciting! Good luck!
Awesome! I’ll be watching!
That’s exciting!
Squee! That is so cool – I will be looking for you. Good luck!
That’s exciting! I’ll try to catch it.
so cool!
My neighbor was on jeapordy last year and it was fun to watch her
I’ll set my DVR! …I just started giggling because I suddenly thought of the Jeopardy! sketches with Will Ferrell on SNL. ????
AWESOME! We love Jeopardy! at my house… will definitely watch for you, and good luck.
Oh – and the Paraiba is really nice, isn’t it? I brought the last of my spray sample with me to Kauai and used it up. (Still have a mini at home.)
Oh, how exciting! I’ll be watching, too. What will be your fragrance that day? Maybe we can all wear it, too (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) and be ‘with’ you on the show?
How cool!!! Very good luck.
How fantastic! Good luck.
Hollywood here you come! You’ll be the star of your own perfume show before you know it.
excellent! I’ll DVR it!
Wowee. I have to DVR it!
Wearing Rose of No Man’s Land. I put on Une Rose last night before bed, and was still craving rose this morning. For the warm weather this is a nice rose.
I am debating this – how do you find it?
I really enjoy it. It’s different from other lighter roses I’ve tried due to the combination of the raspberry and pink pepper. I continually think of it and want to wear it. I would like to have a full bottle once I use all my samples up.
You know, I have a bottle and I really like it, but it isn’t getting anything like the love it should. If you are interested, we could work something out?
oh yes, please! email me at madtolive88510 at g mail.
You smell great! I liked that one when I tested it.
speaking of roses, what did you end up thinking about colle noire? my apologies in advance if I missed your thoughts on this one from a previous post.
Fan di Fendi Leather Essence. Awesome perfume.
SOTD is Dior Feve Delicieuse. I had to have an ultrasound of my thyroid and that goo seems to have taken away all my perfume so I am thinking I may layer with TF Tobacco Vanille.
I love both of those – the combo should work!
Agree with cazaubon that these two will work well together although I need to wait until it’s cooler out.
SOTD is Aedes de Venustas Ciege de Lune.
I like Pantone’s Peach Echo. I wore similar colors all the time when I was in high school and college.
SotD = Hiris over the lovely whisper of yesterday evening’s Geisha Vanilla Hinoki.
I’m smelling a peach or apricot echo as I sniff a sample of Promesse de l’Aube. I like sniffing the vial much better than the little dab on the inside of my elbow. I would definitely enjoy smelling it on someone else. I thought it would lean ylang-floral-oriental-vanilla but somehow I’m getting a more austere, maybe chypre, grown-up perfume vibe. Not what I expected but still very beautiful.
I think Peach Echo is pretty too. And Promesse de l’Aube is beautiful.
Wearing Frederic Malle Eau de Magnolia. Love it!
I love this in the summer. My sample ran out but I’m planning to buy a 10ml bottle soon!
Wearing Cuir Ottoman. Perhaps not seasonal, but it’s a cool day today and I love this scent. Plus, I’m lucky enough to have the day off (my first paid day off since going full-time), and am doing nothing more strenuous than walking the dog and reading a book. (Not at the same time, of course!)
Sounds like a great day off! I have been craving leather too lately, in spite of the heat and humidity.
Paid days off really seem incredible when it’s been a while since you had one – or never had any at all! Enjoy ~
Little sample spritzes of eau d’hadrien, which is refreshing and delightful in the Midwestern summer…
hee hee, I’m reading the novel Crazy Rich Asians. One of the characters enters a room where she is “crushed into a fleshy hug, the heady scent of Eau d’Hadrien filling her nose.” Much of the story is set in Singapore, so Eau d’Hadrien sounds right.
Haha.
Perhaps the author and I have a different understanding of, “heady,” then… it seems like a hard one to overspray as well…
Taif from a sample. I thought I liked it but somehow there is a base note that feels very artificial and yet (of course) very lasting. Ah well money saved…
Have you tried the other OJs? Perhaps it’s the Iso E Super that’s disappointing you/saving you money . . . It seems to be a problem for some people.
I’m one of them. I bought the discovery set and really loved some (Woman, Taif, Frangipani, Sampaquita) but the Iso E Super started to really get to me. I put them away and am considering trying them again now that it’s been 6 months or so. But that common note really, really, REALLY got on my nerves :/
That’s too bad!
I am wearing Jardin de Monsieur Li, which is just perfect today. Needed something soft and pretty that would stay in the background.
Safran Troublant – sugared rose petals and pastry cream. Delicious.
Yes! It’s a candidate for Friday. Maybe tomorrow as well….
Pretty warm here today and wearing Annick Goutal Vetiver. The marine notes of driftwood and seaweed, among others, make this fragrance unique compared to other vetivers, like Guerlain. I love the earthy aspect a lot and even though is very masculine and strong, it reminds me of relaxing and happy moments by the ocean.
I’ve got to pull out my sample of this. When I first tried it I didn’t love it, but that was a while back and you make it sound amazing. I love driftwood and seaweed!
Amy, it took me sometime to appreciate this fragrance. I did not like it a the beginning. But after revisiting many times, it started making sense and finally I fell in love with it. I hope it grows on you so you can enjoy it.
That is such a wonderful and original Vetiver. A pity they discontinued it. You smell good!
Thank you Austenfan! It is indeed a pity that it was discontinued. I treasure my bottle dearly.
The cologne version is very nice also – I liked it better than the EDT.
I have never tried the cologne, but I am pretty sure is very nice. I will look for a sample of it.
I decided I was in the mood for a kitchen sink ’80s floral today, so I’m wearing my long-neglected Boucheron EDT. It has settled down a lot but it really hit the spot this morning.
Oh, I haven’t worn Boucheron in ages! Thanks for reminding me, and you smell good.
You smell great!
Testing Eau Suave and Black Jade today, as I think I am want a lighter floral chypre. Eau Suave is winning hands down so far but one question is longevity and we aren’t there yet. Other ideas for summer floral chypre?
Have you tried Divine Spirituelle? If you like light roses, this might hit the spot. It’s in the same vein as Marni and Paestum Rose.
It’s the chypre base with floral overlay that I’m after more than light rose. I find that these two wear well in summer, although I still can’t pick a favorite!
Gotcha. Well, in that case, I’m really enjoying Ann Gerard Perle de Mousse and am almost out of my travel spray already. And, of course, I always love Cristalle in either edp or edt with edp having greater preference.
Oh I haven’t tried any of the Ann Gerard and will habe to remedy that. Thanks for all the suggestions!
Hmm. I like both of those, with perhaps a slight preference for Eau Suave. Mary Greenwell Plum, maybe? That might be more floral than you want, though.
I think Eau suave is winning too. And thanks for the suggestion. I like florals!
Guerlain Chant d’Aromes is a wonderful light floral chypre – perfect for spring and summer. I have a fairly new bottle, surely not as good as vintage but still very nice.
Valentino Donna. I’m tempted. The Nordstrom SA made me two samples of the hair mist.
SOTD today has been L’Artisan “Premier Figuier”, a lovely dose of cool freshness. I have since layered it (slightly inadvertently) with Chanel Sycomore, which is not awful but not wonderful either. :^)
I really like Premier Figuier. Nice.
That Pantone color is gorgeous, and I love that photo! It looks like Paria Canyon. (A fairly dangerous place to be in monsoon season.)
Today’s SOTD is a continuation of my leather-for-baseball theme. But I need to switch up my team’s luck, so I’m going with Bvlgari Black for the rubber effect because the Wildcats need to put the pedal to the metal and get ‘er done!
Have you ever tried the Coach Leatherware Perfume No.1, No. 2 and No. 3? Angela did a review of all three several years back. I really need to figure out how to paste a link while using my
i-device.
I haven’t, so I’ll go chase down the review now. Thanks!
Are u using an iPad? If so, in Safari: (1) go to the page you want to link, (2) tap the share icon (the square with the arrow) on the navigation bar, (3) tap the “Copy” option, (4) go to where you want to insert the link, (5) tap on the text area you’re typing in so that the text editing options show up, and (6) tap “Paste”.
SOTD is Cotton Musk by Ramon Monegal. Its a beautiful and clean scent. It has Rose wardia, royal gardenia, frankincense, vetiver, Madagascar vanilla and white musk. Its such an elegant fragrance.
I am wearing Angel Sucree ( my only Angel though I am waiting for Angel Muse to make its way down here…hopefully this century) . My mother is coming to stay so I need a reminder to be angelic as I watch her collect and squeeze out the tea bags for a second and third cup of re-heated in the microwave milky tea. I’ve hidden 3/4 of my perfumes…just enough not to arouse suspicion and got a stack of World of Interiors ( from the library, of course) and plan to take her thrift shopping after collecting her from town. Tomorrow we are heading off to the Mountain Film and Book festival in Wanaka …about four hours inland, in a beautiful part of the country….where i am giving some talks. She has just confessed to enrolling in a writing workshop I am taking so I will have to be on my toes as she will want to argue every point…man, she is a dag! I really need Angel Extreme!
Wishing you good luck and lots of patience…
Thanks Mals
Angel?!? I think you need Bandit. Nobody argues with Bandit!
She wears Bandit!!! Arrrrgggghhhhhhhh.
Uh-oh. You’re in for it, then!
See my comment below on how to respond to mom if she finds out about your perfume collection.
I love today’s Pantone color; peaches and corals are my colors-of-the-summer; they look great with sun-kissed skin. SOTD is YSL Paris Roses des Bois. I’m not a fan of the original Paris but I am fond of the LE printemps series, especially the Roses des Bois. Wild pink roses and blackberry bramble on a walk through the woods. Mmmmmm . . .
Those Paris Printemps LEs are nice, aren’t they?
Off to a slow start this morning because I’m recovering from a cold, so an even later comment than usual from this part of the world! My sense of smell has returned, but still a little dull, so I’m thinking Mitsouko, something substantial that I’ll really be able to appreciate.
Get better. It seems to be a bad winter for colds and flu.
Love the Pantone colors theme. LOVE that color. My SOTD = Marion Nous, another old fashioned soapy floral with lots of orange blossom and other things. I like this, but I think I like the Chant d’Aromes I wore yesterday better. Now I need to find my Granada sample for tomorrow….
Late again…
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP
Too busy at work preparing to go on vacation starting mid-week next week.
In other news, there had been several recent cases of — cat hoarding! “My roommate snuck in cats one at a time and I never noticed it.” In this cat hoarder’s home, there were over 50 cats, some of them dead, with bodily excretions all over the place and some of the cats lived inside the walls. the next time someone criticizes you for havig too many bottles of perfume, you can say, at least I am not a cat hoarder – let me tell you about THAT!
Oh dear…Mantra of the weekend: At least I’m not a cat hoarder.
“My roommate snuck in cats one at a time and I never noticed it.”
😯
Perhaps if you were blind, deaf, had anosmia, and couldn’t count.
Late lady here, but it’s been one hell of a hump day. I knew it would be, hence Poivre Piquant.
Goutal Ninfeo Mio over Philosykos body cream. All hail the fig.
