Niche line Byredo has launched a collaborative fragrance (and matching sunglasses) with luxury eyewear brand Oliver Peoples. It is the duo's second collaboration; see the 2015 version here.
BYREDO and Oliver Peoples are celebrating the one year of their collaboration. The 2016 collection is inspired by the golden hour (also sometimes referred to as the magic hour), a very unique moment that happens shortly after sunrise or before sunset during which daylight is redder and softer compared to when the sun is higher in the sky.
The conception of the collaboration was achieved through the BYREDO master perfumer perceiving the sights of Los Angeles through different colored lenses, and translating them into various smells, therefore producing a multi-faceted fragrance. This unique effort has resulted in an original frame designed by Oliver Peoples, through which the color of the lenses will correlate with the aroma of the custom blended fragrance by BYREDO.
The notes include lemon, juniper berries, orris, patchouli, helichrysum, musk and warm sand accord.
The Byredo + Oliver Peoples 2016 scent is $175 for 50 ml, and is available in the three bottle colors shown above.

Hmmm. Same notes as before. I guess the colors are different to go with the lenses? Did anyone try this fragrance when it first came out?
Ack — maybe it is the exact same fragrance, in which case sorry, this should have gone into a collector bottle post. And no, never tried it!
I had the original (blind bought) and wore it for a while before giving the bottle away. It was a well done perfume but veered a little too much towards the herbal end of unisex/ masculine for me. It almost stuck me as bit of a fusty scent, lacking sparkle or light? Just a bit flat.
Slow down Byredo!
If it turns out it’s the same as last years, then they’re still only at 2 for 2016. Could be worse 🙂
