Don't shoot the messenger, but it's Monday again! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Demeter Beetroot. Tea at the moment is coffee. I needed some serious caffeine this morning.
Reminder: 4/1 is April Fools Day! We're going for pure fun: wear your most-fun-ever perfume. (suggested by thegoddessrena)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Scent of Peace for Him (Bond no. 9).
Hope it is a peaceful day 🙂
Bois des Iles parfum, for this rainy Monday ( Karen Carpenter sing! ).
I want to give a public thanks for the generosity of the NST community. Thank you galbanumgal! The Nightscape was a green airy patchouli, pairing nicely with the Easter holiday.
Cheers Everyone! ????
You smell fantastic! And now I will have that earworm for the rest of today. As earworms go, it is not so bad.
I’m happy to have my other ear worm (Monday, Monday) replaced by the Carpenters.
Hard choice…
green airy patchouli is much better on you than on me, I’m sure 🙂
Rainy Monday here too, lawn is almost fluorescent in its greenness!
You smell amazing!
Twins!
Triplets! Mine is from the swap, too. 🙂
I’m in OJ Vanille d’iris and liking it a lot. I’m with you on the tea = coffee today, Robin. Exhausted after hosting the first family dinner at our house yesterday. It was fun, but so tiring. Hope everyone had a fun Easter weekend.
Luckily I keep an emergency bottle of cold brew coffee in the basement 🙂
Nice! That’s a good idea.
This has become my tactic too. Some mornings, it’s just impossible to brew coffee before I’ve had my first cup of coffee 🙂
I’m a Keurig “master” as I cannot be trusted with scoops and measurements.
WOW all of a sudden, Keurig’s world domination makes so much more sense to me!!
that OJ scent is on my longlist of to-buys
My favorite orange blossom on this rainy gray day: Feuilles D’Oranger. Everything but the tree in this one..
Tea is MF French Breakfast
Having a rough morning since the little meatball kept me up all night last night. Hopefully he will nap when my toddler naps so I can get some shut eye.
“The little Meatball” LOL! Sleep is for sissies…
Sleep is for sissies! 😀
Meatball! Every time I read that in print, my mind goes right to All in the Family- loved that show.
I’m sure your Meatball is much cuter than Michael Stivic’s Meatball, though????
I hope so!
Loved that show…not that I don’t like some things on TV now a days..All in the family and the Jeffersons use to make me laugh until I cried. They don’t make them like they use too..
He was “Meathead”-not quite as endearing 😉 I love that show!
Oh, you are so right! My bad (I’m going to blame it on old age and poor memory!)
Unfortunately, retaining useless trivia prevents me from remembering where I put my keys and other more important things.
SOTD is one of my favorite cheap thrills, Lucky No. 6. Soft green and slightly soapy floral with a lovely lotus note.
It’s cool and rainy here, too, and I felt magnetically drawn to stay in bed this morning. *sighs* Another week begins, ready or not.
I wanted to stay in bed too! One of those days 🙁
Me three. Had a busy weekend of yard work and holiday preparation. Sore and exhausted today. The rain, cool weather isn’t helping.
Since I moved to the city I haven’t done yard work in a really really long time! You must be sore
I’m wearing Moschino Funny. That’s fun, right?
I certainly hope so!
That’s a really good one. Too cold here for citrus yet, though (yeah yeah, I’m just not much of a citrus fan except in summer).
Funny works for me in warm spring but I’m not sure I would have reached for it if not for the fun association of the weekly project!
Home sick with a grumbling gallbladder. Wearing the tiniest bit of Barneys Route du The to refresh my tired, up-all-night brain.
So sorry, hope you are feeling better!
Thanks much. I was no match for Easter dinner, it appears…
Oh! I hope you can rest and feel better. If you like ginger you might try it – it can be soothing on its own or with lemon in hot water. I also recommend Gin Gins ginger candy.
Ah, I’ve got ginger slices as we speak, and a cup of hot fennel tea…
“Grumbling gallbladder” sounds very unpleasant. I hope it calms down!
I hope so too. Its main complaint is that I dared to eat Easter baked macaroni. 🙁
Gosh, I love Route du Tea. Have a tiny bit left in a bottle – you have inspired me to check it out again,
Hope you feel better!
Thanks! RdT is a good anytime ‘fume, but particularly useful for under-the-weather days…
Hope you feel better soon!
Many thanks!
Monday after Easter. Over tired, over sugared kids. OY!!!!
SOTD: Modern Muse.
Early bedtime for everyone tonight…..Isn’t 10am and I’m already looking forward to it! LOL 🙂
I’m afraid in my house, it is over tired, over sugared adults.
My before shower scent is MKK. I really do like MKK but I now smell the huge slut note. My mother asked what was I wearing because it smelled like post sex. I guess it’s a good thing that I don’t wear it often. Today is going to be a balmy 62 degrees out, so I might wear either vintage Miss Dior EDC or I might go with Diorling.
I wouldn’t just said..Mom I am not wearing any perfume! 😀 😉
Ha!!
Hilarious!
Too funny! If I was drinking coffee right now, the people sitting in front of me would not be happy.
Actually, I probably would have spewed coffee at the guy behind me because HE had been spewing noxious farts.
Ugh, poor you. No wonder you love perfume. Hopefully your SOTD kept you encased in a scent bubble.
Oh man those vintage Diors. Too gorgeous for words.
Ohhh I totally want to sniff that now. I would probably not wear it, but I am so curious.
Wearing Roses de Chloe, because it’s very spring-y outside today.
Not drinking tea right now, but last night I dreamed I had tea with Queen Elizabeth. . .
Oh that one’s nice–and I LOVE those bottles.
That’s possibly better than a real cup of tea. Maybe I will go take a nap and have the same dream 😉
Wearing Le Galion Snob today because I wanted pretty, flirty and bright to counter my swollen allergy eyes! Happy Monday, everyone!!
Today I took an allergy pill for the first time this season. Fortunately allergies don’t affect my sense of smell! Sounds like it’s the same for you.
Yes! That would be truly horrible!!! ????
A cool, overcast, wet day and I’m in Gris Clare this morning. Really appreciating the cool candy but not sweet lavender in this. I have a full bottle and hardly ever wear it, so offered to give it to my brother in law yesterday. Now I’m regretting my offer because I actually really like this one. I think I will probably just give him a large decant of it or decant for myself and give him the rest of the bottle.
I say give him a decant to get him started and if/when he finishes it, you can see if you still want your bottle. You’ll take better care storing it, etc. etc. in the meantime, and if he doesn’t already wear it, who knows if he really will. Much easier to hold onto a bottle still in your possession, if he doesn’t end up using it, than having to ask for a neglected bottle back!!
Excellent advice!!
Yes that is very sound advice. The SL bottles are really beautiful and I love the choice between screw top splash and sprayer. It will be easy to make a decant with a pipette from that bottle. I think I will spritz on some more Gris Clare and make it my SOTD today. Thank you!
They really are gorgeous, it would be such a shame for it to go unloved!
The beets in that picture are beautiful; they’d make perfect cookies. 🙂
Wearing the modern formulation of Rochas Femme today. I think I’m acting out my sleepiness by deciding to smell like I didn’t get out of bed or shower (even though I thankfully did both).
I keep meaning to try that one.
You are a visionary for our time: some people see beets, Eleebelle sees their true cookie potential 🙂
I thought they were cookies at first …
SOTD = DSH Fleuriste (sp?) A lighter aromatic take on carnation than Oeilet Rouges from this line, which is my favorite carnation, but this Fleuriste is very nice, and will probably be even better in hot summer weather.
Additional antibiotics plus a stepped up decongestant routine is finally taking out the sinus infection zi’ve been grappling with, so everything smells a lot!
Sinus infections are a bugger! Usually weeks of ABT…ugh! Glad you are on the road to recovery ????
Oeillets Rouges is my favorite carnation as well! I really liked Fleuriste last summer; it felt like stepping into a florist’s fridge, which is most welcome in the dog days of August! Dawn has a way with carnation, for sure. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
I have a dabber sample of Fleuriste. I think it is pretty but can’t really get a good read on the scent. I also liked Oeillets Rouges that LisainDenver mentioned but same issue. I probably need bigger samples of these two.
Glad your on the mend. I think that I have a sinus infection too. I’m trying to avoid antibiotics because I had a huge dose last year after being diagnosed with Lyme Disease for the second time.
I don’t think I have an infection, but my sinuses will not quit! Drip, blow, cough. Nothing has worked to clear them. My dentist has recommended Zicam for sinus specifically. Hard to find.
I’m still not used to the fact that while I’m on Martinique, Scent of the Day actually appears in the morning! In Brussels, it’s around 3pm. Anyway, I’m by the pool and wearing Bombay Bling. I believe it was suggested by Amy and it’s great.
So happy you are far away from the troubles!
Awesome. Enjoy your holiday!
Hmmm, Martinque! Now that’s a good holiday! Enjoy!
Have fun, Annicky!
This seems like a perfumista approach to adaptation of time zone. Everything else is pretty much as I expect it too, but oddly enough NST appears to start much earlier than usual…
I hope you have a great time, it must be welcome relief.
Bombay Bling by a pool in Martinique sounds like a dream!
I live in the same time zone as Robin and still often don’t get here until 3! Yay for Bombay Bling!
Ditto. Don’t know how it works.
Sounds dreamy! As close as it is, I haven’t explored the Caribbean- only been as far out as Puerto Rico. I looked at pictures of Martinique and it looks really beautiful. Enjoy your time there!
Enjoy your vacation and SOTD, they both sound wonderful! How many perfumes did you end up bringing with you? 🙂
We should all go live in Martinique so we’re all in the same time zone.
Yes 🙂
Hot and humid with threatening skies this morning. But, since I’m off work today, I can’t complain.
SOTD pre-spin was Eau de Missions, now post shower I’m thinking Vetiver. I really enjoyed the 7 Virtues Vetiver of Haiti and am very tempted by a FB. But really, how many vetivers does a girl need?
I ate too much yesterday! Went to a friends house for Easter and made a huge chocolate marble cheesecake for desert. It was a big hit and very delicious but heavy, heavy, heavy. I could barely haul myself onto my spin bike this morning.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and ate much more moderately than I did????
Yum, cheesecake. We had a lovely torte with cocoa whipped cream frosting and I am trying to pretend I don’t know the leftovers are right there in the fridge.
SOTD: Fashionista Avenue
Almost gave up wearing this because the bottle was so far hidden behind the others and couldn’t be bothered to reach for it until I remembered having a sample in the sample box, with much easier access. Voila!
Not quite SOTD, but when I donned my jacket earlier today I could still smell my Trish McEvoy from my trip to the dentist on Thursday & from being out with my best friend & her sister-in-law from Saturday. We went to our local theatre, which was built in 1906, & had a really delicious afternoon tea – assorted sandwiches, scones with clotted cream & jam, cakes, traybakes & a bottle of prosecco (occasion was to belatedly celebrate my friend’s birthday) – then we hit a local upmarket pub to share a bottle of white rioja (something we’d not had before) then all back to my friend’s house for more wine & nibbles – left home at 2:30pm & got back at 2:30am! A lovely day/evening, I must say.
Sounds like you had a great time 🙂
OMG–I just got three packages in the mail from swappers!! I can’t decide what to wear first! What an embarrassment of riches: NSTers are generous folks! Considering the beautiful spring day, maybe it will be Penhaligons Ostara first.
Have a great day everyone!
Ostara is perfect if spring has appeared! I wore it yesterday so that I could pretend it had here.
We are doing a sugar schack meal today at my in laws. Unfortunately, it’s pouring rain outside 🙁
To compensate, SOTD is bright and cheerful Beige EDT.
AH..that was my wedding perfume.
Mine too! You smell great!
Yes, it was one of the top contender for mine as well, but I chose Bois des Iles extrait in the end.
On the weekend I pulled out my Smell Bent travel sprays and decided to use up the last drops in the ones that I’ve pretty much emptied. I’ve worn Bollywood or Bust, Prairie Nymph, and today I’m wearing Jasmine Tobacco. These are the ones that I will get full bottles of, when I am out of my purchasing moratorium.
Is Jasmine Tobacco similar to Jasmin et Cigarette?
I say, somewhat! I find the Etat more of a lush floral; I think the Smell Bent doesn’t have as much jasmine. But then, it’s not a very tobacco-heavy scent either. It’s really not a very heavy scent at all, one of the lightest Smell Bents I’d say, unless I’m anosmic to something! Would def be curious to know whether others have same impression.
(Oh I guess I also find the Smell Bent has less of the sweet/fruity dimension than the ELDO; whether that’s a plus or a minus is probs a YMMV.)
My SOTD : Chanel Coco.
It is so quiet here this morning after yesterday’s Easter celebration, which consisted of cooking, family and lots of wine being poured.
You smell great!
Rich and very enveloping- but with a light touch You smell lovely!
Scent twin! I need more …
This coming Friday the community theme is ‘fun perfumes’. I have a subscription to Bloom Perfumery and the February pack was ‘perfumes as aphrodisiacs’, so I held them back for these week. I expect to have a fun week describing how utterly useless these perfumes are as aphrodisiacs. Or else a fun week explaining myself. :^)
SOTD is Parfumerie Générale “10.1 Bouquet Massaï”, which I experience as a floral with almost-but-not-quite gourmand characteristics. After a few hours it is also almost-but-not-quite here anymore. Fun score 3/5; aphrodisiac score 0/5. :^)
Now that Bouquet Massaï has worn off I have switched to 4160 Tuesdays’ “Urara’s Tokyo Café”, which is definitely a fun perfume with no claim to aphrodisiac properties. Fun score 5/5, wholly unintentional aphrodisiac score 3/5 (it does actually get my partner’s notice and approval).
That one is fun!
Still a definite chill in the air- brrrr, 38F when I left the house!
SOTD: A combo of my post shower wake up of Eau Universalle and then a a couple of spritzes of Prada’s Infusion D’Iris(sample from Nordstroms). I never really tried it; and now I get a creamy, very light woodsy-earthy-powdery scent. I can see why would like this scent! It’s very, very lovely and sticks close. Hot weather would make this bloom BUT cool spring weather is perfect for this.
OOTD: Am leading a meeting so white cotton blouse, floral silk scarf, grey suit trousers and floral print shoes.
PS: HUGE thanks to Hajusuuri for her very generous sample of Sycamore that is coming in the mail! 🙂 I am so excited!
Floral print shoes! So good!
They are so cheerful!
SOTD is Patou 1000, which I enjoy a lot. Tea was a beautiful organic Earl Grey Goût Russe this morning and am about to brew some MF Thé de Lune, so my tea is still tea!
I really, really love 1000- heavens to Betsy, I think I like it more than Chanel 5 (what what???)! i really think this could become a signature scent for me and I will need to buy a bottle (after running out of samples.)
How is The de Lune?
Lovely! A nice mix of gourmand and abstract florals and fruit. It sounds like a hot mess, but it’s one of my favourite flavoured black teas.
Eau des Merveilles is an excellent palate cleanser after yesterday’s sweet over-indulgences.
Blergh. Too many Peeps!
In your defense, it’s my understanding that “too many” is the only possible quantity of Peeps to eat. They’re the spring counterpart to Thanksgiving dinner that way; you really had no choice 🙂
Yes, exactly that! Chicks always come in flocks, especially the marshmallow ones.
SOTD is NanBan by Arquiste. I should wear this more often.
I’ve got to get around to trying this.
It is really a good fragrance.
This is on my to buy list. You smell amazing!
I love it!
Blackberry & Bay! Wonderful on a sunny day, but then, I find it wonderful on a gray day too 🙂
That one is so nice. I really like it – and yet am not tempted to buy a bottle. (Shrug.)
I love beets. LOVE beets. I should plant some (and then harvest them young and tender, unlike the woody-mammoth things they have at the grocery store).
My boys are home today; no school. However, I doubt they’ll surface until time for lunch! The 17yo is parked in front of some History Channel thing on TV, and the 15yo is reading a fantasy novel on my Kindle. It’s sunny, but very blustery today. The heat is off and it’s 63F in the house – I’m wearing a sweater and YSL Paris.
Beets are really good for you but I never tried to grill them. I bet they taste great. Also, you smell great! I haven’t smelled Paris in years but I remember it.
I love young beets all split and roasted up with olive oil and salt. Very sweet and earthy and yummy!
You smell good!
I love beets, too in all forms. My favorite for summer is cold borscht with dilled sour cream. Yumm.
Yes! Yum, indeed.
Bought a backup bottle of Milk of Flowers yesterday because I haven’t unpacked enough boxes to have space to bring up more boxes from the basement and I need to smell like me (I haven’t worn it in a month). Of course, I’ll probably have a burst of accomplishment right before it arrives…..
Reminder for Boston folks-6:00 at Colonial Drug in Newton on Thursday
SOTD: Elie Saab L’Eau Couture (have we done a Kurkdijian project yet?)
OOH YES a Kurkdjian project!
You smell very pretty today. One of these days, I’m going to have to sniff Milk of Flowers since you love it so much…
I got mine at Bigelow Pharmacy in the Village
I seem to remember we did a Kurkdijan day, but that was probably last year.
You smell lovely!
I’m wearing vintage ’70s Vol de Nuit Extrait. It took me 20+ years to ‘get’ VdN, and now that I do, I’m *all in*. (Maybe there’s still hope for me and Misouko, Apres l’Ondee, and Shalimar after all….I just have to keep trying). This juice is flat-out gorgeous. I dream of finding a bottle in an antiques store or garage sale for a song – instead of the pretty penny I paid for this one – but alas, most sellers are wise to what they have these days :-/
I still don’t get VdN, although on paper it should be to my taste. Should maybe try the parfum of whatever vintage… the sample smelled like the inside of a musty chest, very faint. I suspect I’m either anosmic to something in it, or the EdT is just not strong enough. You’re giving me hope. 🙂
I also found the current EDT very weak. It was bright green for a minute and then faint vanilla. I was like “that’s it?” I’m sure the higher concentrations or vintage ones fill in the blanks.
Oh, that’s so good to know. I’ll order a sample of extrait.
I agree completely. I think the biggest reason I’ve struggled to appreciate VdN is because I was trying newer formulations of the EDT. It wasn’t until a generous swapper on Fragrantica gifted me with vintage EDT that I realized how vastly superior – and different – the older formulations were. I now have a vintage 70s EDC version that I intend to wear in warmer weather, and this wonderful 70s 1/4 oz
Extrait. (I’ve actually had a tougher time sourcing vintage EDT.) The difference compared to modern formulations is night and day!
I needed spine stiffening for meetings today, so Chanel. But Misia because it’s my favorite.
Yes yes yes! Misia was going to be my SOTD until the Swapmeet packages arrived. Good luck with your meetings. You’ll smell great.
Cool and rainy today. Mentally I’m bogged down by all the packing I have to do for our upcoming move. Ugh. Even more dread-worthy is plucking the kitties out of their comfort zone-always makes me feel bad. I wish I could explain it to them and prep them for what’s to come. In reality, they’re more resilient than I am.
SOTD Wit which is bringing me some cheer this morning.
I can’t imagine planning a move in NYC. It must be crazy.
We had to reject some apartment options because some walk-ups won’t fit certain furniture items! We learned that the hard way once before. This move shouldn’t be too bad logistically.
I think NYC apartments need those outside the house bulky heavy object pulleys like the ones I’ve seen in Europe.
I feel your pain. We are moving within NYC also. Same building but smaller space, so our packing and sorting is to deal with donating and storing. My husband is a bit of a hoarder, so that’s our big challenge. He likes clutter, and it puts me on edge…
Cats are resilient. We threw ours in carriers, drove them across country and tossed them in a new place. Two had literally never been inside (they were abandoned, backyard dwellers) and had never met the indoor ones. They are all laying on the bed together as I type. The first 6 months were spent avoiding each other, but thankfully no real fights or drama.
Yikes! We’re actually upsizing but this place has no closets. Grrrr. When we moved 2 years ago, it was much more challenging as my husband also likes to “collect” and we were in that place for 14 years. We did manage to purge a lot of stuff, but it was an emotional challenge for him so I can definitely identify.
Yikes, no closets. That must be a challenge.
Closets! They really are important. But, if it is bigger, then you can hopefully compensate with furniture storage. We can’t really do that because of two big paintings… Yes, I’m trying to be sympathetic to my husband’s emotional challenge.
Gosh, we moved across our city from a 2bdrm to a 1 bdrm apt last August, and are still settling in and unpacking boxes. It’s pretty amazing how long it takes to get going on either side of the move!
No matter what, you’ll smell great. Best of luck with your packing and logistics!
And our cats settled in within a month, and are now loving the new space 🙂
SOTD is Hommage a l’Homme by Lalique
SOTD is De Profundis by Serge Lutens. I am curious if anyone has tried this scent? I’m still pretty congested and can’t smell it at all. Well, only if I pull my shirt up to my nose which I have been doing surreptitiously this morning. I’m wondering if it’s me or the perfume?
It is not very strong on me either. I got a decant but decided not to purchase a FB as it was too weak.
I have worn this several times. I think it’s a mix of both in your case. It isn’t an extremely strong perfume on my skin either. I was able to spray quite a bit without overpowering anyone. Also, I’ve found it stays quite close to the skin, it’s sillage is minimal, but it does last on me if I spray enough on. I think it’s a beautiful perfume, great for the office and daytime, especially when you don’t want to blast anyone with your scent or be too overpowering.
Thanks to both of you. I think it is very pretty too. I am a bit disappointed with it’s sillage. I don’t like to wear beastly scents to work, but I do like to be able to smell what I’m wearing. I’ll save the rest of decant until I can smell normally again and spray some in my hair next time too. I appreciate your opinions!
I did try it, but from a dabber vial. It didn’t last long on me and I don’t remember it being super potent. It was pretty, though. Did you spray it?
Yes, but I think it’s a 3 ml decant… very small.
I love De Profundis, but it needs to be sprayed – dabbing just doesn’t do it justice. On me it smells a bit like the inside of a florist’s refrigerator – blossom-y, but cool. Lasts well on me too, but it does tend to stay a bit close to the body rather than wafting.
I love that refrigerated florist smell! That is exactly what I was hoping for.
Have you tried Demeter’s Funeral Home? It smells like a florist fridge.
Ha! I’ve never tried any Demeter scents. I don’t know if I could get past that name! ????
I wore this just last week and it stuck around nicely, but I am a generous sprayer.
I think that I applied four sprays. So you are saying that I would need more to make it stick around. I work in an office so I usually apply 2-3 sprays depending on the scent.
Oh four is pretty many. So maybe it just works differently for me? I don’t find it super strong after four or five well placed sprays, but it’s definitely there. (I do the spray over the heart thing, which maybe helps? It sort or wafts up to your nose, with some perfumes so strongly that I gas myself.)
I’ll give that a try. ????
It is very pretty and perfect for spring! I haven’t worn it in a while so will need to experiment again to come up with the perfect spray amount. I will share my notes when I do so!
Thanks hajusuuri! I am getting over a nasty cold and probably have a sinus infection so my sense of smell is comprised right now. I was thinking of getting a bigger decant but I also like DSH Fleuriste so just trying to figure out which way to go.
Happy Easter to all who celebrated.
Wearing my classic I-have-no-idea-what-to-wear-today perfume–Caleche.
Still off today which is good, as reminants of jetlag are making me very grumpy. But Mimosa pour moi is cheering me up a bit.
I like Mimosa but still haven’t smelled this one, it’s on my list!
wearing Jasmin Angélique today. it’s wet and overcast outside, wish I was cuddling with my pup in bed right now…
Wet and cool here too, perfect for Amouage Memoir.
Love Memoir.
I don’t think I wore it as often this past winter as in winters past, but I’m not sure why I didn’t. (And that one I really can’t wear in warm weather, nope nope.)
I didn’t either, probably because it has been such a warm winter.
Giorgio, because it’s Monday and I am on denial.
You know, I’ve actually never tried Giorgio, although I’m sure I must have smelt it at some point. I’m in denial too.
Denial is very under rated, it works great for me. Giorgio is very strong and sweet and is actually making me a little dizzy by now, but I still find it less cloying and more wearable than Jour d’Hermès or Lys Soleia, go figure. (Poor, poor co workers. Such good, honest people.)
Hahaha! I like your compassion. I used to like Giorgio but I never wore it. A friend in high school wore it, so that’s forever my association. I actually think it’s close to Amarige in some ways.
If you were alive in the 80’s in America you have surely smelled it. My mother and I went through gallons of the stuff.
I was very much alive in the 80’s but not in the US. I don’t know if it was a big hit in Europe.
It’s sunny here! Spring might finally be staying. I’m wearing Eau de Magnolia.
Does it smell like actual magnolias? My husband just asked me yesterday if magnolia was ever used in perfumery. I told him yes, and then realized I wasn’t sure what that note was like so I asked him – he said to him magnolia smells like jasmine. I’m not sure it does in MY nose, but since you mentioned wearing it I thought I’d ask.
The ‘notes’ section in Fragrantica can be a bit hit-and-miss, but the Magnolia notes consider some example perfumes which you might find interesting. (It’s a note in my SOTD today which I looked up, so fresh in my mind)
I don’t know what magnolias smell like, so I can’t say. Whatever it is, I like it.
I’ approaching the last dregs of my vintage (60s?) Mitsouko. It smells like a distant cousin of the current EDT. When I tried the current parfum all I got was a wall of bright cinnamon. Yikes.
Can’t really say if my ‘fume is ‘off’ as I’ve no idea what it’s supposed to smell like. ‘Old world’ perfume I’d say. It feels thick n deep and piney. The lasting powder is great and the drydown somewhat sweet. Some perfume-parsing skills eh? 😀 Anyway if I ever come across another bottle el cheapo I won’t say no.
This sounds wonderful. Hope you come accross more of it. I only know current Mitsouko, and I love it.
Yes, today is yet another Monday! Yuck! It’s hard to get into the groove of things once you’ve had a 3-day weekend! My SOTD that I wore to try to help me get out of this funk is Jasmin Rouge by Tom Ford. Hope everyone is having a great start to their week.
Hello, everyone. I have one more day of Easter break, and though I can feel the tension riding and the drive to knuckle down beginning to kick in, I’m determined to enjoy one last day with the dear man, ‘cos he flies off to Australia tomorrow. I’m gong to take care of some resolutely domestic things–shortening a couple of pairs of his trousers for him, sewing on a button before it falls off completely, boring but important stuff like that–and I’m wearing 19 again, to cenent our newly-restored relationship. I’m very pleased that all is well on that front again. I have no idea what went wrong. I suppose my body chemistry went odd for a bit.
I’ve loved being back with NST and I’m going to try not to let work take over my life again to the point that I can’t find the head space to enjoy my perfumes and the community. I hope I have good luck with that project…I have spent a happy hour the morning browsing recent reviews, and I’ve quite a big list of “To investigate” perfumes for my trip to Australia in June. Fun! Hey, have a great day, everyone.
I’m glad you are back on your usual track. It seemed like your workload had nearly gotten the better of you! When life is so busy it’s hard to keep a perspective on things.
Well, it could have been his body chemistry too y’know. It takes some work to keep 2 human beings in synch, even if they love each other. And prosaic things like sewing on buttons definitely have their place. ;^)
Not to worry Koenigsberg, Waterdragon is referring to her relationship to No. 19 which went a bit sour on her during the summer, not her realtionship to her dear husband.
Oh goodness, I’m so sorry! Koenigsberg, I’ve just realised from your comment how ambiguous mine was! Talk about being self-centred– I should totally have realised that the whole world didn’t know that it was 19 and I that had a falling out! The man and I are all OK, and much better than OK most of the time, but your concern is lovely! And thank you to mag20! I’ll have to be more alert from now on.
And further reporting: today has been very hot for late March, and 19 has been utterly civil, as though her summer tantrums never happened! Whew!
Hee hee, I’m catching up very late, I’m sure there’s a comedy sketch waiting to be written here!
Glad u and 19 back on track, water dragon, and hope you’ve had a lovely Easter break, and can take it easier from now on.
Ugh. Still sick, I think? I’ve never experienced a sickness like this – where each symptom affects me on a different day:
Friday – fever
Saturday – achiness
Sunday – congestion
Monday – sore throat
Hurts to breath anyways, so I might as well go to work.
SOTD = Kenzo Amour which is a wonderfully comforting gourmand. Except I can’t smell it. 🙁
Hope everybody else has a much better day than I’m having!
Sounds like quite a bad bug. I hope it leaves you be very soon.
Ick. Hope you feel better and I know exactly how you smell! Delicious and comforting!
Hoping Tuesday will be All Better.
Oh I had this with the sore throat first and the rest in the order you give. I stayed home three days and was ok after day four or five. I hope you are too!
I have had that and gh ed n I went out and pruned my blueberries on a cold day and started the whole cycle again! Stay warm and rest…
gh ed n = when..stupid phone… 🙂
Wearing Lily and Spice body cream, which I now realize is rather Easter-themed. I never got around to buying the perfume before it was discontinued and wonder whether it would have been quite as pervasive.
profumi del forte by night (white) – and trying not to think about restarting work tomorrow after the short break
no scent other than a cheapo tiaré oil from Yves Rocher. It’s very long lasting, especially for a body product! and smells good, too. I bet layering it with gardenias and tuberoses would be amazing but also stink up a whole room so perhaps best saved for summery outdoor activities!
Wow! You smell like a princess! I got some Tiare oil from a herb and spices shop in Portland (of course I did) and I use it on skin and hair in the summer.
I have the same oil. Although inexpensive, it smells really good. Last summer I wore it under Songes EDT and was pretty happy with that combination.
Didn’t sleep well last night so considering a run for something caffeinated. I’m wearing Lys Mediterranee (sp?), so at least I smell pretty good.
SOTD is Jour d’Hermes, sprayed with abandon. I need spring!
Ooooh, Jour d’Hermes! Liquid springtime. You just inspired my scent choice for this afternoon.
Yay, I love being inspirational. 🙂
Wondereful- and that is a scent one could spray with abandon. It’s truly is sunshine!
Today I am wearing M.A.C Air of Style. It reminds me a little of Viva La Juicy, but more spicy, less sweet.
Ivorie de Balmain for me today. Perfect for spring when it isn’t warm yet.
I indulged in a favorite, springtime simple pleasure this morning: digging in the dirt. Planted pansies, violas and johnny jump-ups in the flowerboxes – such pretties! The warm, earthy comfort of Molinard Vanille Patchouli kept me company today.
I am amazed that my pansies, in a big outdoor pot, made it through the winter and never really stopped blooming. I think pansies are my favorite flower. Your flowerboxes must be so pretty.
Where I live, they succumb to the heat and humidity of summer long before the winter deep freeze. But they, and the tiny violas, self-seed, so often in the spring they pop up in between the antique bricks in the walkway and are just adorable!
Same thing happened with my million bells – they look like miniture pansies, in yellow. I wonder if they’re related species.
I want a bottle of Aedes Iris Nazarene.
I want it now.
I want it when I get home.
This won’t be happening, but I want what I want.
LOL! ???? Did you ask the Easter Bunny?
The Easter Bunny looks a lot like my checkbook and the answer was no.
BUT the heart wants what it wants, and I want this.
Oh and isn’t the want intensified by how great the bottle is? I really want Oeillet Bengale and tried to talk myself into the travel spray, but it just isn’t the same. Iris Nazarene is so good too. If they for 50ml I’d probably have both!
I have Oeillet Bengale. I want them next to each other.
I want Copal Azur in the same way!Someday that bottle will sit on my dressing table…
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Sous le toit de Paris
I’m doing a week of “fun to me” perfumes. I associate Sous le toit de Paris with the first perfume I ever both a back-up of on first purchase (and on first try!), an almost monogamous perfume relationship on a Mediterranean cruise (with a side trip to London and a side trip to the side trip to Paris), and dearest NST perfumistas who also love this perfume!
Now to go back and read the comments…
It’s been a long time since I’ve been monogamous! A great place to go for the fun week.
Well, I wasn’t quite monogamous as Chanel No. 5 EDT is always with me when I travel but it only gets worn for evening events.
You smell terrific. 🙂 I have been nursing a 30ml bottle for a year and finally bought the 200ml. For me it is the best scent in their lineup.
