Hey, it's Forgotten Friday! Our community project for today: dig around in the back of the cabinet, find something, be it a bottle or decant or sample, that you'd forgotten you owned or forgotten to wear. Thanks to Ajda for the suggestion!
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
Double points for me: I am wearing Côté Bastide Péche de Vigne over a tiny dab of CB I Hate Perfume CB93.
Reminder: 3/18 will be I Hate...Oh Wait. Wear a perfume you love that features a note or style you always thought you hated. (suggested by pixel)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

1000 (EDP) (Patou). I bought a sample a while back and found in while looking for something to wear today.
Not sure I like it, but I applied it very sparingly.
Found “it”, not “in”. I need more coffee… 🙂
Don’t we all 😉
You smell really, really good. I happen to have this and I love it. But it has to speak to you!
I also have a vintage-ish bottle of the parfum that I picked up in an antique store, it had a few drops left in it, and that version seems to suit me more. It is musty (my sister recoiled in horror when I put it under her nose), and the florals seem more muted. Not sure how it would compare to a new version of the parfum.
I sprayed a cotton swab and then dabbed that on my wrists, so I have only a tiny amount on skin. I’m a guy and I really don’t think I can carry this off, in spite of what Luca says. Maybe I should try the EDT.
The EDT of 1000 is lovely and wears down to a subtle and beautiful skin scent. Sexy, but very, very restrained and elegant. You can wear it all day.
am wearing Guerlain Mitsouko Fleur de Lotus, which is pretty good if you think of it as an Aqua Allegoria instead of a riff on Mitsouko. Too marzipan sweet for my personal wearing tastes, but nicer than most of the AAs of the last six or seven years.
I am drinking a mysterious Ceylon OP with no estate name attached. It is a little brighter than I like my teas (I am not a first flush Darjeeling kind of guy), but not hard to drink at all.
Yes…that’s just right. It would have fit as an AA.
I am still on Irish Breakfast this morning. Can’t seem to wake up.
Your comment about Irish Breakfast tea brings back a ton of good memories from childhood trips to “the farm”, and pot after pot of steaming hot tea with milk and sugar to go along with a think slab of brown bread that was as heavy as a brick! Out the window the sheep and cows were doing what sheep and Cows usually do. The chicken “coop” was the shell of an old 1940’s sedan…????
That’s a lovely memory. Thanks for sharing 😀 Now I really want some Irish Breakfast Tea with milk and maple syrup. I suspect there isn’t any here since my mother is not a tea drinker, so I may have to use my imagination.
How lovely! Wish I had an old sedan with chickens out back…keep trying to talk the husband into keeping chickens, but no. Mind you, what I mean is HE keeps chickens and brings me the eggs.
Lol! Chickens are not that much work and they are fun to have around. Plus home gown eggs are the best!
I have a neighbor who sells eggs and an egg farmer that sells to the markets right down the street. Otherwise, I would have chicken too. However, I HATE cleaning the eggs! blech 🙂
What a nice memory. Those chickens certainly lived in style!
That is a great story Deva. What a nice memory.
lovely memory..
I was curious about trying this a few years back and mercifully or not could not find a sample. Oh well! I haven’t enjoyed a single AA yet.
Every spring I put away a bunch of fall and winter scents and sometimes I forget they even exist. Today I’m in Yves Rocher Homme Nature Millennaire, which smells like autumn, all loam and crunchy leaves and pleasant earthy rot. It’s one of the best YR scents that ever was.
That sounds wonderful.
Oh, yes! Nature Millenaire is awesome! I have a sample of the men’s and two bottles of the women’s. It is my favorite YR fragrance. I wear it sparingly so I never run out and I only wear it in the autumn, it smells like the earth.
Life is a bowl of peaches 🙂
Today I am in Jovoy Sans un Mot
Got my sample of Divine signature perfume in -dying to try it. Maybe later on when Sans un Mot dies down
Tea today is Paris breakfast do go with toast & tea rose petal preserves.
Sounds like a lovely breakfast
It is!
One of my girlfriends came over to meet the newest addition to our family and picked me up these preserves (because she knows how much I love anything with rose in it) as well as gift for the little ones. Its nice that, as a mom, I am not forgotten!
I second that! We’ve gotten so many gifts and cards and whatnot addressed to the baby, but the few kind, wise friends who brought me things like homemade jam and really fancy yogurt made me teary with gratitude. And rose preserves are so dreamy — especially good with strawberries!
AH! I will try it with strawberries.
How are you doing these days?
Better now, thank you. Our little guy is 6 1/2 months old now, and just in the past week something seems to have clicked for him, and he’s suddenly much more manageable and happy, so it’s all much less overwhelming. These past six months have been a doozy, though, and it can be tough to face our culture’s dreamy, pastel-inflected idealization of babies and say “Whoa Nellie, this is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through!” But so worth it, of course, and I’m so in love with him. I can’t imagine having a newborn AND a toddler on my hands, though — I hope you’re doing okay!
i love that sweet spot when they are manageable and love to cuddle too!
I think society loves to focus on how lovely and rose colored everything is about having children but nothing is mentioned about the hard parts. Glad you are doing OK!
I don’t know how I do it. My husband is a huge help as well as my in laws. Living in NYC makes things a bit easy-which is contrary to how people may think.
I couldn’t wait. Since I applied Sans on only one arm (there is a reason why I its forgotten) I applied a small dab of Divine on the other.
I’m a fickle mistress, so many of my samples and older bottles get forgotten for periods of time…….
SOTD: Ivoire Balmain. This one gets pushed aside way too often….it’s a beautiful scent. Clean and green, like the best French milled soap ever. Bought this one deeply discounted as a total blind buy, and it was worth every penny!
FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY!!! My hubs and kids are out of school today because they didn’t use any snow days this year, so I was able to sneak out of the house in total peace and quiet…..I can dig it! 🙂
You smell great. Ivoire is lovely!
I agree. Very lovely!
Thought I had used up my FM sample of Dans tes Bras (sp?) but found one in the bottom of my sample bowl as I was looking for forgotten ones this moring. Nice little surprise for a day that looks like the 3rd indoor/rainy day recess in a week.
Ugh, good luck with recess! You smell great.
I think DtB is my favorite Malle, save GpM on my boyfriend. I need to get on getting some.
I had a sample of GpM too! The salesman at Barney’s was really lovely with samplpes last time I was there. I like it but yes, seems like a guy scent.
CdG 2 gosh I love this
The bottles lay flat and sure enough there were 3 tucked in a corner.
3 bottles of #2?? You are set for life!
Well, not quite.
I have a CdG white
A CdG 2 full size and the little pocket size
They stack nicely
Ah, gotcha.
I love this! “…three tucked in a corner” written so casually!
What a versatile perfume. I have one laying flat somewhere that I had forgotten about. Thanks for the reminder! You smell great!
Happy Friday Everyone. Those peaches look good.
I am wearing Vanille 44 from Le Labo from a sample. After the initial mushroom cloud, It seems to be more of a skin scent on me. But I like it quite a bit. It reminds me a bit of Sideris by Maria Candida Gentile, which I own and love.
Tea of the morning is Kusmi Kashmir Tchai. It’s good but not my favorite of those I’ve tried thus far.
I need to give Kusmi tea more of a try..had a few here and there but nothing to write home about.
I ordered a sampler pack. It came with 24 tea bags; 2 each of twelve different teas. I really liked the first few that I tried but I am not a big Tchai fan for some reason. Like most everything else that is talked about on NST, I was curious because so many people rave about them.
Good idea on the sampler pack. I was in one of their shops recently looking for the violet tea but couldn’t move myself to purchase a whole box. I do love their packaging.
You can buy sets of the mini tins on their website, too.
You smell fabulous! I think I had a sample and really enjoyed it but it was fleeting on me, so I didn’t give it another thought.
I agree with the fleeting part. It is very pretty though. My two work description would be churchy vanilla. 🙂
two word description… fat fingers
Ha! I suffer from the same syndrome????
In my morning haze, I read this as “fat fingers” being your two-word description of Vanille 44, and it was completely awesome. 🙂
ha,ha,ha,ha… That is funny! 🙂
I love Vanille 44 and I think it layers well with ambers. If I am wearing it by itself, I wear 4 sprays and it lasts all day.
It’s not exactly obscure, but I dug out my sample of SL Sa Majeste La Rose today. I have a love-hate-love-hate relationship with this one. As much as I love roses, I find this one a little too smooth, and the fruity note sticks out too much on me. And then I love the smooth richness of the rose note. Can’t make up my mind with this one!
I has a similar experience with Ube Rose Vermille: “Yuck, this is more about raspberry than rose. Oh but look how velvety it smells! When did I finish my sample?!”
You reminded me to grab my Serge Santal Majascule! Sigh, that gorgeous chocolate note. How could I have forgotten this one?
I love Santal Majuscule! It’s my favorite Lutens (after Bois de Violette) because it reminds me of an Indian rose attar.
I like SM too. I just wish that the opening didn’t have so much cumin. Other than that, it’s perfect IMO.
Sandalwood, rose, and chocolate? Why have I not sampled this one yet??
I have to find a sample of this one! It sounded so unassuming when it came out that I didn’t bother, but wearing 5 o’clock (which I used to think of as Lutens Does Ginger) makes me realize the beauty and depth the line usually has.
Usually.
If I was following the poll, I’d probably wear Dior’s Coco Mademoiselle knockoff, MDC Eau Printemps, which for some reason I bought two of…? My boyfriend likes it and for sure it isn’t bad, but so banal.
Instead I went with 5 o’clock gingembre. I’m seeing my rheumatologist today amd she loves spiced scents.
I didn’t have any real “forgotten” scents, but I hadn’t worn one of my faves in a while. I’m in Nuit Rouge by Antonio Alessandria.
Happy Friday! So ready for the weekend…
SotD: La Maison Bardoues Peche Exquise from a sample vial. Smells like peach liqueur for a moment, then peach candy, then a fresh peach, then a voluptuous, lovely, rounded, old-style French perfume. I hope that makes sense, my powers of description fail me when my eyes are rolled back in my head in a moment of fragrant delirium.
True confession: I had outpatient surgery on Monday afternoon (bye-bye wonky gall bladder, don’t let the door hit you on the way out), and my first thought coming out of the general anesthesia was OMG I could really go for some No. 5 edp right now. 😉
My wish: Have a fabulously scented Friday, everyone!
Your SOTD sounds lovely tiffanie. I hope you are recovering well. It amazes me that having you gall bladder removed is an outpatient surgery these days.
It is amazing what qualifies as outpatient surgery, but I’m not one to argue. Hospitals do wonderful work but are not always an easy place to recuperate. 🙂
Hope you are feeling well! What a great recovery after 4 days.
I never heard of Peche Exquise, but your description of the development is enticing. I eI’ll have to buy some peaches later.
I need some peaches, too. 🙂 Robin’s lovely photo nudged my hand from a sample of Comme des Garcons over to Peche Exquise.
Hope you’re feeling well now and have had a chance to douse yourself in No. 5.
Oh, thank you, MikasMinion. I’ve had a decant of No. 5 in my bathrobe pocket all week. There’s never a bad time for a spritz.
I hope you continue to recover. I love that your first thought out of sugery was No. 5 EDP ☺
I’m relieved I can share that here knowing I will be understood. 🙂 I don’t dare tell my family my first thought after surgery was NOT for them LOL.
I doubt they’d have been that distressed had you admitted to a craving for, say, a peach milkshake immediately after surgery. Same idea – a fancy for a specific physical pleasure.
Goodbye gallbladder..hello No5! Feel better
Happy to hear you are on the road to recovery minus the pesky gallbladder. Just think of all the fatty foods you can now enjoy, pain free….????
Congrats on getting rid of that gall bladder! Hope you’re well by now.
I wonder if craving a particular perfume can be used among other symptoms to indicate a patient’s condition… 🙂 (e.g. “Patient X: acute No. 5 craving, prognosis: good”)
Ha, needed your ‘fume fix postop!!
I’ve been sans gallbladder for… 10 years now? 11? You’ll be feeling better very soon.
Your SOTD sounds lovely! I can’t recall ever reading about it before. I’m glad you’re recuperating well!
Tiffanie, that’s hysterical! (The thought of #5, not the surgery). Best wishes for a full recovery, and lots of wonderful scent.
I had that same surgery about 5 weeks ago, and my 1st thought was ” OMG, I feel so much better”. I went under at 11 AM and was home, asleep by 5. Almost a minor operation.
Today, I went hunting for something to participate in the project, and as a result, am wearing PdE’s Cuir Ottoman. Beautiful suedy/spicy scent for a spring stormday.
Yay, hannahmom, we’re “stitch twins”! 🙂
Glad the surgery went well, and I hope you’re feeling much, much better! Your description of Peche Exquise sounds heavenly. Peach is one of the few fruit notes I like in perfume (I’m counting rhubarb as a vegetable), and I’m always on the prowl for one that’s just so. I’ll have to give this one a sniff!
You can take the gall bladder out of the woman, but never her love for perfume! Hospital stays are getting shorter and shorter these days. Personally, I’d rather recover in my own home. Hope you have a speedy recovery!
Hope the rest of your recovery is speedy!! The very sight of a No 5 bottle will make me smile from now on–what a great scent story! ????
Rest, recuperate, and rock that No. 5! I believe it doubles as a health tonic… 🙂
Too funny! Wishing you a quick recovery!
You smell lusciously peachy! Here’s to a speedy recovery!
Glad to hear it all went well, and love that your first thought was perfume!
Feel better soon! And the fact that you wished for fragrance so soon after surgery bodes well for a quick recovery. Very clear-headed. 🙂
Best wishes for a continued easy recovery. Your SOTD sounds delicious!
Popping in again to say thank you to everyone. I took a nap and woke up to so many kind words and wishes.
D’awwww, you are wonderful.
I kept moving this mini out of the way to grab other fragrances. I’ve had it for many years and finally decided to give it a shot. I’m wearing Liz Claiborne.
You smell great! I love that triangular Liz Claiborne bottle. I have a leather card case in my purse that is embossed with a pattern of Liz Claiborne triangles.
I used to wear a Liz Claiborne scent back in the 80’s I think. It was called Realities and came in very cool (so I thought at the time!) frosted class cubed bottle. Have no clue now what the notes were but I really enjoyed it.
My mom had a mini of that when I was a teenager. I “borrowed” that from her all the time. I think it was the best of Liz Claiborne’s fragrances.
oh my goodness. this is the only fragrance my mother in law owns. I was asking my husband if he remembered her wearing perfume as a child and he described the bottle. I had never heard of it before but I was able to find it on the internet, and the last time I was at my in laws I asked to see it. hahaha she still had it with some juice left. (she never wears perfume)
I loved Vivid by Liz Claiborne. Wore it all through the 90s
Vivid was my favorite of the Liz Claiborne’s
Actually I’m not liking it. Now I know why I never wear it. I think that I’ve had it since the early ’90s, and rarely worn it. If I was going the cheap thrills/drugstore fragrance route, I would have done better to wear one of my Yves Rocher fragrances. I rarely wear them, but when I do I enjoy them.
Haha, did you have to scrub it off?
One of my mom’s scents. I think I gave it away after she passed away, should have kept it. It wasn’t to my taste at the time but my tastes have changed a lot.
OMG! Liz Claiborne and CK Obsession were the very first minis I owned! I’m not sure what happened to them but may have an idea of where they are now. If I find them, I may nust enjoy looking at them!
I’m wearing Salvatore ferragamo tuscan soul vendemmia today. I was given a sample right around Christmas time, and promptly forgot about it.
There’s lots of sandalwood in this, which sometimes turns ugly on me. We’ll see how it goes.
I got a FB of this in Málaga after reading Kevin’s great NST review, and confirming in a shop that it works for my skin. For me, this is like the Summer/ Autumn scent that becomes Sienne d’Hiver in Winter. A clear sign that I have a suggestible mind and totally buy into the “evocation of Italy” schtick. :^)
SOTD is the “Not Forgotten and Really Need a Full Bottle” of PdE Corsica Furiosa. This has a lot of things I LOVE: a cooling bright brisk brutally green opening that slowly morphs into a gauzy comforting hay-like dry down. Perfect for the climate I live in, but still gives me an “oriental doppelgänger” feel on the dry down that totally works in the heat and humidity.
Have I convinced you? I think I talked myself into a FB….
Happy Weekend to all ????
Happy full bottle shopping!
Lovestosmellgood, I find your encouragement wonderfully validating. I am still trying to resist the the call of the 6.8oz bottle of Cologne Pour le Soir that was mentioned earlier in the week, along with the dreaded upcoming “reformulation” issue. I have a NM not too far from me and may wander over there, by chance of course, to see what’s what ????
Don’t you love it when you “fall into” a store and come out with a bag of goodies..that happens to me!
Let us know how you make out.
I’d love a bottle of that one too. Do wish they’d do smaller sizes.
I think we should both show up on Marc Antoine’s doorstep and convince him to bring back not only the 50ml bottles, but also introduce 15 and 30ml, too! Between the two of us, I’m sure we can convince him ????
SOTD is L’Artisan “Timbuktu” which I think was one of the first scents mentioned in NST that made me think “I have to try this!”. Well, now I’m wearing it, and I like it but it hasn’t grabbed hold of my heart. Persistence is better than the other L’Artisan samples but still barely adequate. One for the longlist rather than the shortlist, and I’ll look out for a decant but not a FB.
I’m curious as to which scent does “grab your heart”? In a a BIG way, you know, where you took one sniff and said to yourself “I MUST have this NOW!” and find yourself loving more an more everyday…?
Great question! For years I used to buy whatever was being advertised that smelled ‘nice’. Hermessence was the eye-opener; over 2 or 3 years I tried them all and a few stood out as ‘must have’ – Ambre Narguilé was the first, then Epice Marine from my 2nd pack, and from the final pack of 4 Rose Ikebana, Vetiver Tonka and Cuir d’Ange. Then checking things out in shops based on NST reviews, AG Sables and Myrrhe Ardente, PR Acqua di Sale and Alvarez Gomez Agua de Colonia Concentrada. From current sampling spree, Amouage Interlude Man, Arquiste Nanban, Papillon Anubis and Ed’I Sienne d’Hiver. All of these either delight my senses, or remind me of wonderful places or experiences, which I think is what I mean by “grabbing my heart”. :^)
Thanks for your response. That’s a pretty awesome list you’ve compiled! Many of those are on my (very, very long) list of “to try before I die” fragrances. Cheers!
A few days ago you posted about Lubin samples which prompted me to go dig mine out from the back of my out-of-control sample drawer. 😉 I tried them all again over the past few days, and chose Akkad for today. Wow, I’m really loving it. Thank you 🙂
I’m glad you’re enjoying it! For my own part, I am tantalising myself with those samples, torn between them adn the CDG incense series for next week. I think I’ll use the Lubin scents the week after next when I’m in Poland in colder weather.
Have you looked at the Ex Idolo perfumes (there are only 2, “Ryder” and “Thirty-three”)? They are quite special too, based on a first sniff, and I am looking forwrd to trying them on skin. When I came home today my Olympic Orchids sample pack had arrived; mentally I am bracketing “Kyphi” and “Dev#2” in that same rich resinous honeyed incense group.
I’m trying out ELdO’s Cologne, a sample I’d forgotten to try and then forgotten I had until someone else posted about it on here.
This is the last day of class before our spring break, and I’m having all my meals bought by my department today, so things should be good.
I still have not tried that one!
Well, I will have to try it again tomorrow. It reminded me a tiny bit of Homage à Gabrielle when I was biking into the dept today, but after that I didn’t notice it. But I think some of it is lingering on my skin still, and it is indeed A Nice Scent although a bit vague now.
I’m in Fahrenheit 32 which, while not currently forgotten, I have occasionally forgotten about in the past. To me it’s less freezing and more Celsius 13 and stormy!
I figured it couldn’t be truly forgotten if I remembered it when I thought about my least worn scents, so I dug through my boxes of samples this morning and rediscovered Slumberhouse Kiste. After putting it on, it felt too sweet, so I added SSS Tabac Aurea, which was also shamefully forgotten. Besides being a fantastic combination, I’m now thinking I need to invest in a larger supply of Tabac Aurea.
Happy Friday!
TA is the bomb!
It is.
AG Eau de Camille was in the back of the cabinet. It’s green with honeysuckle the way I love to smell it while walking between the bushes.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Yum! Shame that one got discontinued.
I chose Divine L’Homme de Coeur, which fits the theme perfectly – I always forget about this one. Still dabbing from a tiny sample vial, and probably won’t seek out more since it’s very similar to others in my arsenal, but I do think it’s beautiful.
Wearing Aqua Allegoria Tiare Mimosa which I got in duty free (I think) and forgot I had…
It is a nice floral and discontinued now apparently.
I’m wearing Royal Apothic Extract of Marigold. I think I bought it when I found it on clearance a few months after reading a positive review from Kevin. The rollerball leaked a little so I took it out of the box and stood it upright in the corner of a bookshelf. I didn’t totally forget about it, I just never reach for it. For some reason it doesn’t suit my mood(s). I like it though; And I’m quite sure this is the only scent I have with Marigold in it. Thanks for the push Ajda and Robin!
Thanks again to all of you for your support and encouragement the last few days. It turns out I did less TV watching and internet surfing than planned yesterday, and much more sleeping so I never made it back to respond to everyone in yesterday’s thread. But I really appreciate the kind messages. I am recovering well and should be 100% in a few days.
Sleeping is just what you should be doing! Glad you are feeling better. 🙂
Thank you. You are right. With an 18 month old, I’ve forgotten what it feels like to deserve extra sleep.
Spontaneous naps are the best thing. 🙂
They really are. I need to learn to put my mental to-do list away and just crash every once in awhile.
Milk it, Lucy. Feel better soon.
I will. Thank you. 🙂
SOTD is Pure Turquoise by Ralph Lauren, a pretty musky floral by Annie Buzantian. Although discontinued, it is easily found on the discounter sites. I didn’t exactly forget about this one, I just haven’t worn it recently. It’s quite nice for early spring, though!
I have this scent as well farouche. I’ve had it for a long time and it has a wonky sprayer so I tend not to wear it. It is very pretty.
Since I’m at Mom’s I don’t really have anything forgotten along, but I do have that old bottle of Robert Isabell Savanna here that I rarely touch. I smell like a bouquet.
I like smelling like a bouquet. 🙂
WOW! So impressed that you have something from Robert Isabell. I had one of those when the line was launched but for the life of me, I cannot recall what it was….maybe Ceylon was its name. I do remember the slender glass bottles and how the company made a huge deal over the glass (as opposed to plastic) tube insert for the spray mechanism. Savanna was the white floral, no?
Ooooh SAVANNA–it was my signature scent in the late ’90’s. My beau at the time (actually, on our first dinner date) opened the car door and said “you smell terrific”–needless to say, I wore it on all future dates!!
Amethyste (Durbano), it is now clear why it has landed at the back of my bottel shelf, I can’t stand the fruity-berry notes any more
I’ve had the same experience with fruity-berry notes. They just smell off to me.
Lady Vengeance by Juliette Has A Gun today. I was given a bottle of it for free by a typically generous NSTer and I haven’t given it proper attention.
Having one of those days where I am more grateful for the extended pajama party that is this board than usual. Thanks guys.
You nailed it, ihadanidea! NST really IS just like an extended pajama party, and I’m grateful for it too.
I wear that one when I want people to notice but am maybe feeling a bit edgy too. How about you, doe sit seem a bit tough?
SOTD = CB I Hate Perfume “Memory of Kindness”
Forgot about this one until I browsed StC’s 5 ml Friday sale and saw Annock Goutal’s Folavril – another one reputedly with a tomato leaf accord. If it’s as nice as the one in my SOTD, then I must try! They blended citrus with green notes to get the zing of tomato leaf, one of my favorite summer scents 🙂 Wonderful, and a good alternative to a cologne. I may have to look into a full bottle…
I love that name!
Me too! Love that there is a definite story behind it.
I love Memory of Kindness! One of my favorites from that line.
It’s wonderful! However, it only lasts 30 minutes on my skin… 🙁 You?
It’s been a while since I wore it, but I don’t recall it being very long lasting. Do you have the water perfume or the absolute? His absolutes seem to have decent lasting power…
Nope, too expensive for a scent that only lasts minutes on my skin. 🙁 I’ll look into Folavril, now that I know I like the note! In the meantime I’ll be saving the rest of my sample for this summer!
I recently found my CBIHP samples and discovered I have several that I really liked when I first tried them and need to revisit. Memory of Kindness is one of them.
Love Memory of Kindness. I do think it’s a better green than CB93.
Thanks to last week’s Narciso Pudree review I remembered that I had a sample of NR’s something, so I’ve dug it out today. It’s Narciso EdT, and it’s not ‘meh’, but a sort of ‘hmm’. I liked the opening and the developement is rather pleasant, if not particularly original. But I’m afraid it’s slowly getting sour, as rose and peony usually do on me. Now I really need to try an EdP.
SOTD-Bronze – Ellen Tracy. Found it in back of my bureau, looking for an earring that fell back there. Totally forgot I even bought this….and it’s nice. It is a light citrus, then violets & iris?, creamy, velvet-like, slightly woody, smooth , slightly amber and vanilla. It is just a little sweeter than I like, but the powdery dry down is nice. I put it on 3 hours a go and I can still smell it , which is good for me. It is inoffensive, good for a casual Friday in the office. I like it, don’t love it.
I went through my samples this morning and picked Cuir Ottoman in the end. While I’ve got many, many half-forgotten samples, I’m usually still vaguely aware of their existance (especially because I got them organised recently). But somehow I was totally convinced that I was out of Cuir Ottoman, so finding the sample was a complete surprise. It’s a very nice leather. And unfortunately, the samplre really is finished now.
Ack! The pain of a finished sample one grows to like- but need to save a coin or two for a rainy day….
I don’t tend to forget my bottles since I swap them around seasonally (from the bedside cabinet to the hatbox on the dresser when they’re in season, and back to the cabinet when they’re out)… but my decants are another story!
Found several I haven’t worn in a long time, but I’m wearing Leonard de Leonard and thinking that I could probably use up a full bottle of this, assuming I could find one. This is a lovely green floral/floral chypre, discontinued (of course), sweet with flowers and backed by moss and woods – something like a cross between vintage Ivoire and Safari.
That sounds really lovely Mals. Too bad it’s discontinued.
ooh, is it the same as the French (or Italian) scarf co? Have a mini obsession for those too.
I’m so glad we did this one today. I’d completely forgotten BOTH my Union scents (in 5mL rollerball format), Holy Thistle and Celtic Fire. Wearing Holy Thistle today, as it is much more spring-like.
I’ve missed you all so much–haven’t even had a chance to look at the daily postings for weeks now. And I know I owe some of you e-mail. Getting to that soon.
So happy to see you back and hope things have all settled down ????
Wishing you fortitude, and relief soon. 🙂
I put on the first sample I found that I had forgotten I had: Tubereuse Criminelle. The weird menthol opening is my favorite part.
Yum.
I was looking around at my spring and summer scents, almost ready to move them to the front of the cabinet, and saw Farnesiana. Since I hadn’t worn that one for a while, I spritzed some on. It feels right because it is sunny here today and the temp is supposed to get into the mid sixties.
My forgotten scent today is Jo Malone Sakura Cherry Blossom. I find it to be a nice Spring fragrance.
When I sampled Black Flower Mexican Vanilla the other day, I thought I should do a side-by-side with Eau des Missions, Vanilla Flash, and … there was another one, but I couldn’t remember what it was. For some reason, I thought it was something by what is that house that creates priests’ robes and fragrance oh yes! : Unum. But noooo, that wasn’t it. Hoping that I wouldn’t have to go through closets for today’s community project, I opened one of my sample boxes this morning, and lo and behold, I found Santa Maria Novella’s Vaniglia, which is my SOTD. I guess I was kinda in the right ball park with the whole Catholic theme, but my brain just didn’t make the connection. 😉
Forgive me if I can’t get enough vanilla. 🙂
You smell great!
Thank you! Vanilla is a new love for me, and I’m having a lot of fun exploring it. 🙂
You’re absolved, my child. 🙂
SOTD is Tom Ford Plum Japonais… not so much forgotten as neglected. I’m afraid I have more neglected perfumes than un-neglected…
Another rainy day here. The cats are acking the juncos which have taken shelter on the front porch. They’re a bit messy but I don’t mind… beats the year a wild turkey decided she’d use our porches as rain shelters.
San Jose meetup is tomorrow! We’ll be meeting at 2pm at Valley Fair, in front of Bottega Veneta. Hope more folks will join us! If you have samples you’d like to swap, bring them along, I know I’ve got a ton of orphans that need new homes.
Sounds like great fun, enjoy!
I adore plum japonaise, u smell very lovely indeed.
Thank you, I do smell lovely, I should wear this more often! (and how many times have I said that….)
I’ve heard wild turkeys can really terrorize people. The juncos must be a relief.
Ours was merely curious. She liked to watch what was going on inside. It is rather startling to walk thru the front hallway and find a 3 foot tall bird peering in at you 🙂 The turkey and the (indoor) cats found each other mutually intriguing, they would sit on opposite sides of the glass and watch each other for ages.
Ha! I had a possum that used to bird dog me like that- pitch dark outside and I’d flip in the light in the back yard and there on top of my fence was perched a huge a$$ possum looking in my window. That must have happened about 4 times and startled me each and every time. I was tempted to call the possum police on that dude????
I did a two-birds-with-one-stone thing this morning, digging out some languishing L’Artisan samples and giving them another try to see if I “need” anything from the Hautlook sale. One that I’d essentially forgotten about was Passage d’Enfer. If I didn’t already have so many incense fragrances, I might be tempted, but there’s something sour in the opening of Pd’E that puts me off. I wound up ordering a small bottle of Rose Privee, which was on my to-buy list anyway. Somehow, I always DO need another rose!
I have a whole bottle of Passage d’Enfer and didn’t remember until just now. That might have been a good choice for me today. 🙂
Sadly, Passage d’Enfer makes me feel I am already in perfume hell.
This made me laugh and snort at the same time ????
I ended up with an ideally small bottle of Penhaligon’s Sartorial.
I have a 5 ml mini of that one and it’s just right. I don’t often reach for it, but sometimes it’s the perfect winking-tomboy scent on me!
Eau Claire des Merveilles. Not exactly forgotten, but I wear it most often during the summer so it had migrated to the back of the cabinet.
There’s a huge grin on my face right now :D. I love the fact that my suggestion turned into a community project!
I don’t post anymore after going back to work, but I lurk here all the time.
Wearing Jolie Madame from an old sample. I never crave it, but always enjoy when I put it on.
You smell great.
Oh, so great!
Thanks for the suggestion. Sent me into a depression when I realized how many fragrances I don’t wear! But at least it opened my eyes!
It was a brilliant suggestion, Ajda! Thank you!
I picked Tihota from my vanilla sampler pack. I was obsessed with vanilla for a time early on but have largely ignored these for the last year. Robin’s review said vanilla cake and that’s what I’m smelling right now.
Tihota’s like a dream! You smell heavenly!
love. love. love Tihota.
Found about a 1/4 sample vial of SSS To Dream which I was sure I’d finished off. Such a soft, romantic scent! I should have ordered more when it was still available…
To Dream is gone now? Bummer, it was so pretty. (My sample’s empty too.)
Yeah, last I checked she didn’t even have any left in the “archives” 🙁
Darn. That one was on my FB list too. I still have a couple samples someplace though so I’m sure they’ll last for a bit.
What??? I had NO CLUE that it was d/c! I have to check the level on my bottle! To Dream is one of my favorite SSS perfumes!
Sad, right? So nice and I can’t think of anything else like it.
I’m wearing Tauer’s Reverie au Jardin which was not only forgotten but currently is non-existent due to its lack of lasting power.
Probably why I forgot about it!
Happy Friday!
Oh, but for a short time you smelled lovely! That lasts okay on me, go figure…
Sounds like a perfect perfume for today but too bad it is fleeting on you.
One of my favorite Tauer’s and it lasts and lasts on lucky me!
I haven’t gotten to far into picking out something for the challenge. I’m still haven’t hopped in the shower yet to wash off what’s left of Amouage Gold. I kind of forgot why I don’t wear this often, it gets really annoying. I have so many perfumes that I never wear. What’s in the running in Une Rose Vermielle, Deneuve, Frapin 1270, or no 19. It’s another day in the 60’s if that helps.
It’s funny you mention about Amouage Gold being annoying. I have a large decant of Gold for Men, and I rarely wear it, even though by and large I think it is really outstanding. I put just the tiniest drop on last weekend for kicks b/c I’d not worn it in so long. I really enjoy it for about two hours. BUT THEN IT JUST WON’T GO AWAY! Even just this tiny dab has monster life and projection. I can still smell that super amped up civet and sweet powder for about 24 hours. Too much of a good thing. They need a gold “lite”.
Well, Dia Pour Femme is the Gold Light, so I am more apt to reach for that one. Dia for Men should be the Gold Light. I’m thankful that I only have a 1.7 ounce bottle of Gold. That will last a lifetime.
I’m happy that I did decide on no 19 today.
Last a lifetime – you could get embalmed with it! 😉 I’ll have to find my little vial of Dia and test it again. I’ve not put it on for a very long time. 19 is always a good choice.
Wearing Nuit de Longchamp by Lubin. As fabulously old fashioned as the name suggests: green, mossy, slightly soapy white florals. Has a silky feel about it. I should be wearing a white blouse and red lipstick.
You should wear lipstick and a crisp white shirt- you would look GLORIOUS, and match your perfume!
I’ve been wanting to try that one. The problem with a buying freeze is that the lemming list gets out of hand and I get carried away with samples afterward.
Sounds gorgeous!
I love Nuit de Longchamps, and it’s a perfume I don’t see mentioned very often.
My forgotten scent was a toss-up between Stephen Jones (original) and Stephen Jones Wysteria Mysteria. I chose the original which is lovely.
I wish I had some SJ to forget 🙂
I was cleaning out a long forgotten drawer this week and found a sample of Quorum. I also found ticket stubs. I saw Marshall Crenshaw in 1982 at the Bottonline for $7.50! The sample is not as old as that but I have no idea why I have it. So spicy, rugged, mature man day it is!
Wow! 1982!!!!
I have to say the mention of Marshall Crenshaw, made me smile. It also reminded me how old I am! , but Quorum did that too.:)
Happy Friday, all!
I’m doubling up for the project today: wearing Neroli Jasmin (forgot to wear) over Hawaiian Pikake (forgot I owned).
You smell like a wonderful vacation! Wonderful!~
SOTD: Annoying office move- but finally done! This morning, I actually found a bottle I was sure I shifted off to a goddaughter- Belle Du Soir, the fragrance collaboration with Le Labo and Anthropologie. I had bought it as a whim and because FINAL SALE. I thought it was wimpy and put it away.
But it was warm in my apartment this morning, so I gave it a couple of spritzes. The ambient warmth ‘opened’ the fragrance up, and the lemony/incense-y/creamy-powdery wood would be perfect in warmer weather, even summer evening weather as a change from jasmine or gardenias based scents. It’s a pity is has been discontinued; I think that had Anthro+Le Labo waited a couple of years this would have been a hit. Posh BoBo is in peak season now, and this is perfect for that.
OOTD: Crisp light blue blouse, high waist indigo jeans, Green floral scarf, black snakeskin sneakers
This sounds amazing. I wish I had tried it, but I’m not much for Anthropologie, and I don’t know if I was into scents yet when it came out…
Yes, I think this fragrance came out in 2010 or so? I bought this bottle in 2013.
I was always curious about those Anthro scents. The testers were all empty and missing their sprayers when they were available and I missed them when they went on clearance and I could have made them safe blind buys.
Yes, these scents seemed to be popular, at least in the PDX metro area, and I would watch some women shamelessly spray themselves down!
I got this bottle on clearance about 3 years ago? Some very ridiculous price, like $15. I honestly wish I got two, now that I know how to wear the fragrance.
Anthro now sells a variety of niche/mass scents, some good, some not.
You’ve reminded me that I have the Anthro/Le Labo Bouquet Blanc. Need to bust it out soon to see if I still like it.
Oh hey! Please let us know how you get on it with it!
Hartnell White Shoulders that I purchased in December and hadn’t actually tried on skin yet. It is beautiful and rich. From a quick google search, it looks like the company switched from Hartnell to Evyan around 1948, so I’m wearing almost 70year old perfume!
Wow! How does it smell?
Oooh, that sounds wonderful. How is it?
I love White Shoulders and except for a little sharpness when first applied, it’s beautiful. It’s labelled as cologne plus and seems plusher and more polleny than the other versions I have
Wow! I had a small bottle of that when I was very young.
I dug through samples and decided on Isles Lointaines by Keiko Mecheri. Only got a small amount on myself before I dropped and spilled the rest of the sample on my rug. White floral…nice.
Drat, sorry you drained your sample! At least your rug will smell nice.
Kenzo Flower Oriental: it’s my tallest bottle, so you’d think I wouldn’t overlook it, but I have. I might think of it as more of a summer scent…
I was thinking of one of my Kenzo Flowers too…. I like them more in the summer. But I’ve often thought I’d like the Kenzo Flower bath milk for any time of the year.
Since I recently inflicted a mega-weed on my collection, I no longer have any “forgotten” vials in the wayback of the Scent Cabinet… but there is one I hadn’t worn in forever, and that is CK Obsession pure parfum (the low flat bottle, not the tall oval EdP). Boy o boy, this is the stuff. Rich, animalic… I dared only wear a tiny dab since I had to work today. But my kittyboy Hiro was extremely interested in sniffing and rubbing his face against my wrists this morning!
I don’t blame him. Obsession used to be so good. I particularly loved the men’s, which a friend’s very chic mom wore, but I had a mini of the women’s and it was great.
I can definitely imagine Obsession for Men working on a very stylish & confident woman.
These community projects will make me lose my job some day. Wearing Giorgio, the only perfume still neglected inside my closet. So strong and sweet, perfect choice for a tense work meeting, lol. I feel like a bimbo, and have to confess I’m kind of digging it.
Your post has me rolling with laughter. I haven’t worn or smelled Giorgio in over 20 years but it’s such a strong sense memory – I feel like you are sitting right next to me!
I thought the same thing. I used to smell it on my coworkers back in the day. 🙂
Those were the days. How could anyone complain, when they were wearing either Poison or Opium?
Yes, I think my co workers will reember it for a few decades…
I have such a strong memory to Giorgio. When I was young wild and free back in the day I wore this fragrance when I was in Italy. Sadly, since I was so young at that time I couldn’t afford a bottle, but I loved my little spray vial when I was there.
Hey, my bottle is from way back then, and I could happily send you a small decant. (I went to Italy when I wad a free spirited young woman, too. Great memories…) Just write me, anastasiaguidi, hot…
God, what a back in the day fragrance. I remember my sister wearing this in the 80s, along with Fendi!
Yes, it’s a creature from the eighties, no question about that…
This perfume (or more correctly, people in my high school who over-wore it 20 years ago) is why I thought for so long that I hated perfume.
The neon of its box/and of its scent is a crazy imprint, and I wonder what would happen if I came upon it in the wild?
Maybe you would find it less nuclear today, after having been exposed to all sorts of diffetent stuff… It’s VERY sweet, though.
Glamorous bimbo, right?
Glamorously trashy. I mean, it’s still summer here!
That’ll teach ’em to inflict tense meetings on employees.
LOL!
Hi all, I’m wearing SJP’s Covet today, one of my spring time favorites. Spicy green floral with a teak, amber, musk and cocoa dry down.
Covet is so much fun. It’s the only frag with chocolate accords that I like. I think b/c the geranium really holds it in check. I don’t wear mine much either.
I love it, too, in the spring. I get lemon from it, too, in addition to that wonderful geranium note and the cocoa.
I’m a big fan of Covet too. My husband loves it!
Another Covet lover chiming in!
I think I saw Covet at Marshalls recently!
The perfume I’m wearing today made me feel very stupid and spendthrift this morning. A couple of years back, when I was in Paris, I bought a bottle of Magnolia Grandiflora Sandrine in a very fancy and too-cool-for-me shop. Just jumped on the chance and it was all “limited edition this” and “never another chance that”. And it was pretty expensive too. And I’ve never worn it. Just put it at the back of the cupboard and haven’t worn it for a few years! And it’s pretty good. But it’s not all that. I get some faintly metallic note there and something that reminds me of medicine behind the floral part. I’ll probably put it up on ebay in the end… Can’t se myself wearing it very often, such a huge bottle too (100ml!)
Although it was fitting, magnolias are beginning to come out here in London. This is my favourite time of the year. Maybe I’ll hold on to the bottle for a bit longer, on second thoughts.
I like it for summer. It really does smell like grandifloras.
La Panthere for forgotten Friday. I do believe that I bought this for the fabulous bottle, and don’t wear it much. It is interesting and nice but goes a bit screechy on me. Great bottle, though.
Agree, one of the best bottles of recent memory.
Forgotten Friday Fragrance!
SOTD = Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Toit
This is a fruity (apple and pear) summer fragrance and since it feels almost summer-like, it’s perfect. When I first got it 3 or 4 years ago, it was on heavy rotation and It’s down to about half-way full. Fast forward to a year and a half ago, someone on the train I frequent wore this everyday at nuclear levels and I resolved not to subject my fellow commuters to this surprisingly strong EDT. To avoid reaching for it, I moved it to my closet and forgot all about it.
Coincidentally, I am wearing my colorful Hermes bangle that has “24”, what looks like “Fbg” and “Paris”. This fragrance was inspired by the rooftop garden at 24 Rue Faubourg in Paris!
But that is a lovely scent, even at nuclear fallout level.
I no longer ride that train so I really should bring it out of purgatory!
I rather like the concept of a perfume pergatory.
I also have some in the doghouse. Purgatory/Limbo is one rung higher 😉
Yes, get that scent out of limbo and let it LIVE.
I’ll be wearing it more in the summer!
Any train ride would be improved with Les Jardins fragrances. It seems like everyone has a favorite.
You smell pretty.
Ha! Thanks!
I wore Jardin Sur le Nil for this community project, hi cousin! I have a decant and I love it but somehow it never springs to mine.
Hi cousin!
Lovely, lovely and perfect for this lovely day in our metro area!
It’s gotten too warm too soon. While I like Spring, I dread it too because it means Summer is coming!
Thank your lucky stars you live up there and not down here…
“Here” being hell ????
LOL, two of my friends recently retired after the company they worked for got bought out. They each bought a place in Florida, one in Osprey, the other one I don’t remember. They are keeping their houses “up north” because of a disproportionate summer/not summer down there. They are scheming to make sure they prove that they are spending at least 183 days in Florida to get Florida residency status.
I agree on that. When I moved from CA (where summer could easily hit 100) people asked me how I handled winter. I said winter was no issue…it’s the summer I dread….
I was just told by the woman sitting next to the sole open seat on the Amtrak quiet car that I couldn’t sit next to her because she was allergic to perfume. I have a tiny bit of Misia on – just a little because I’d been in a long meeting in a windowless room – and I have to admit I wasn’t super duper nice. I mean I left and travelled multiple full cars to get a seat, but can you be allergic to all perfume? Especially with all the restrictions on ingredients? There are so so many worse things to smell on trains! But I do get, of course, that people have allergies. I’m just grumpy!
Gosh, this kind of declaration makes me so angry. I would have asked her if she bought all the seats in the quiet car or tell her she needs to use a car service to travel and request a no fragrance car AND a driver who only uses fragrance-free products. If she has something on the seat, I would politely ask her to move it or wait for the conductor to come through and let him/her handle the situation. If she is sitting in an aisle seat I would deliberately stand with my back facing her. Ugh, I need to calm down!
I wish I’d thought of these responses! All that I could muster was ‘I don’t even know what that means’ as I took myself and my bags to another car. Thanks for the sympathetic response, which is what I needed!
It means that she would have said anything to sit solo.
My response would have been “That’s too bad”.
Fire with fire and if that makes a bad person – that’s too bad.
I agree 100%!! Is there ANYTHING more rude than rudely pointing out someone’s personal particulars?!? Drives me nuts!
I had a friend who was massively allergic to fragrance, but this sounds like a woman who pretty much tells all comers that they can’t sit next to her, just to have her safe space around her. Maybe next time you ask a gentleman nearby if he’s not wearing fragrance if he’ll switch seats.
I don’t forget full bottles of anything I own, although now I have so much, some things don’t get worn as often. But samples! I have bought the same sample two and sometimes three times. I see the note list and think, “Oh, I’d probably like that!” Then the sample arrives, it’s unremarkable, and I promptly forget about it. I had to start logging everything on Basenotes just to save myself from repeatedly buying the same sample. But, I digress. Today I’m wearing vintage Norell, a green floral I got for five bucks at a house sale. I tried it the day I bought it, but today I put a lot on and I should be wearing a pastel suit, pillbox hat, and carrying a crocodile handbag. Instead I’m in jeans and a turtleneck.
Norell is gorgeous!
I am also guilty of ordering the same sample twice. I have a lot of back filing to do in order to prevent this, and also to be able to pull them out when someone has an interesting comment about one of them.
You know, you look great. I think of lot of vintage fragrances shoudl get an update of some sort. I have worn Chanel 5 at an AfroPunk music festival and at EDMC while in full summer festival gear. Everyone loves it on me; everyone is shocked to find out what it is.
Today I rolled on Guerlain Mon Precieux Nectar – haven’t worn it in quite a while and it is so delicious. Then I received a package that USPS had “lost” for a week and now found: Avon Timeless Ultra Cologne in – GET THIS – a UNICORN glass bottle. Couldn’t pass it by on eBay. So adorable. Scent is heavy but will try it alone soon.
No one should pass up a unicorn! Who cares what the juice smells like. 😉
A unicorn! Perfect.
Lou Lou. I was able to recall all the bottles/samples I have in order to participate in the project. Self-sabotage, or what?
So Lou Lou was on my kitchen tabletop and I’d been planning to wear it for a few days anyhow. The vanilla/heliotrope in it actually reminds me of certain Guerlains. Might as well.
I’m late today! SOTD is a cool spring layering combo: very badly neglected SSS Lieu de Reves on my wrists and a wee dab of Balenciaga Paris on my neck. They play nicely together. I like both of these very much but must be in a rare mood to want either. I sometimes think I should hunt down a bottle of the BP, but it’s gone now? The LdR particularly is good today b/c it always conjures in my mind the first cool sunny days of spring – the earth is just waking up. I love the juxtaposition of cool fresh notes and warm earthy notes.
I bought a discounted bottle of Paris sometime within the last year, either ebay or Amazon.
I found a decant of Library of Flowers Honeycomb and spritzed that this morning. It’s a pretty honey with a few flowers and some fig thrown in. Very soft, very nice, and gone within 90 minutes unless I had my wrist right up to my nose. After that, I switched to Rochas Femme – talk about an extreme change!
Whiplash!
Lots of neglected things, rather than completely forgotten. Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile for me today, I haven’t worn it for ages. It was one of my earlier purchases as I developed the pefume obsession.
Duh, what I forgot was to wear any scent today. Guess I have to live vicariously through all of you.
LOL! That is taking this project to extremes 🙂
Sotd: Bandit edp. I’m know I’m late to arrive at this particular party but darn it, I’m happy to be here. It’s gorgeous stuff but not for the faint of heart.
Oof! Bandit is no joke!
Wearing my sample of Enslaved. Confirming I am not. Jillians of dollars not given to Roja Dove – yay!
I’m cheating a bit on today’s challenge. Rather than ‘forgotten,’ my SOTD has been ‘purposely neglected’ because it just never felt like me: Nina Ricci L’Air du Temps. I have two bottles, a tall white columnar cylinder (spray edt) embossed with the iconic white doves, from the late 1980’s, and a splash edt from 1995. Each one was a gift on a special occasion from two different individuals, both of whom I’m very fond of. Though I love its backstory and its doves, and while I don’t dislike the fragrance itself, its classic spicey carnation/clove floral scent just never seemed right for me. (Yet I find it interesting that two different people chose it for me.) Today I’m wearing the spray, and it’s light and airy and quite lovely on a sunny springlike day, and I’m enjoying reminiscing about my friend and that special occasion.
It is interesting that two friends chose it for you. I think people are totally taken with the romantic advertising and the bottle, and the scent is intriguing on first sniff, and certainly quite distinctive. They don’t really think about what it would be like to wear such a ladylike scent all day.
You smell beautiful!
I distinctly remember L’air du Temps from back then. For me it smells like love and pink carnations.
L’Air du Temps has a special place in my heart, and I doubt that I could clearly articulate my feelings about it. It was my mom’s signature scent, and when I smell it and see the lovely tender bottle with the doves entwined I am reminded of her, of her strength and her love.
So many possibilities, but today is unseasonably warm and I came across a sample of Bulgari Eau Parfumee au Thé Vert. I’m liking it enough that I’ve just ordered a remarkably inexpensive bottle from ebay. So Ajda has earned a sparkly enabler’s pin as thanks for her brilliant poll idea. 🙂
this one is so nice.
I didn’t think I would be able to participate today. I looked around at my smallish bottle collection though, and saw my poor bottle of Hanae Mori Hanae. I like it well enough, but neglect it in favor of my perfumes that have more lasting power and character. I used the matching body cream, so that helped.
Wearing Rosabotanica today. I haven’t worn it in years.
I really like it too. If I didn’t have so many roses already, I probably would own it!
Hello everyone, I’ve really enjoyed reading about everyone’s forgot on and over looked perfumes this evening, and I’m feeling so lucky to have found this warm, generous and kind community.
SOTD is Donna Karen Gold, i didn’t love this one before today, but it’s really gorgeous, I’m determined to wear it more from now on!
Great scent.
We were scent twins! I only made it halfway through all the comments yesterday. You did smell gorgeous.
SOTD–Cristalle
Not really forgotten, but not worn since last summer. With the summer-like weather preview this week, I have been pulling out my crisp, fresh, green beauties.
SOTD is L’Occitane Eau d’Iparie. I hadn’t forgotten about it exactly, but often overlooked it as I sought something else. I forget how spicy and lovely it is, and am looking forward to it wafting gently around me as the kids and I go out for a spring afternoon walk. 🙂
Sampling Akkad, and loving it!
I think that one is really Very Good, underrated even.
I was going to wear Bas de Soie today since I know I have a decant that I have been neglecting. When looking for my misplaced decant, however, I found a sample of Un Rose de Kandahar that I had totally forgotten I had. So my SOTD is Un Rose de Kandahar instead.
Also that L’Artisan sale at Hautelook is looking mighty tempting right now.
Thanks, sweetgrass! But now I am in trouble again …
Ha! Join the club. I almost resisted.. but then I didn’t. But 2 50ml bottles for under $100 including shipping and tax is a pretty sweet deal.
Congrats!
I got two bottles last time so now I am considering gifts, but this requires some thinking … I bet I’ll go wrong …
I gave in.. I had been wanting Timbuktu for a long time, and at $40 for a 50ml bottle it was too good to pass up. I also got a bottle of Tea for Two while I was at it.
Ah, another victim of Haute Look. I snapped up a bottle of Penhaligans Ostara yesterday. 🙂
Ha! I probably would have done the same had I not already bought Ostara when it was on sale on Penhaligon’s website. I’m just glad it was the same price as the Penhaligon’s sale. I think I’d have been miffed if it were less.
I did the same! A blind buy of Ostara. Then I happen to be near the store in Rock Center so spritzed it, hoping I’d like it. I did! Can’t wait to get it, just in time for true Spring… I was tempted by others on the site, but I held back.
Donatella would be so proud of me — I looked at haute look and did not buy anything. (but the next day, I succumbed to Fragrancenet and spent a fraction of what I saved from not buying from haute look)
Ooh, what did you end up getting?
Donatella would be proud. 😀 And now I’m curious to know what you got too.
Hope you have room for another enabler pin in your tiara! (I’m sorta chagrined because mine’s a backup bottle which I’ve GOT to stop doing. But I’ve been hearing scary rumors so…)
SOTD FM Lys Mediterrane. I haven’t exactly forgotten the sample, but I haven’t worn it for at least a year or so. I like it, but it’s not my favorite FM or my favorite lily.
Hermes Iris Ukiyoé!
Oh, how could I have overlooked this beauty!
But Hermes is so smart to provide those big samples so that there is always enough juice to wait for you when you are in that right moment to discover it … and now I will need to get more …
That’s my favorite Hermes! I appreciate their travel sizes, too.
You have a very good taste, nozknoz! It took me quite a bit to figure out that Iris Ukiyoé is really gorgeous …
That may actually have beaten Ambre Narguilé as my first Hermessence FB. In my case, I like how the name evokes the Japanese aesthetic as much as the scent itself – perfume is at least as much in the mind as in the nose, for me at least.
Yes, go for Iris over Ambre Narguilé! (I think it is much more special, but that is only my opinion …)
My “collection” is not really big enough, and I haven’t been at this long enough, to really have forgotten anything. (Weekend plans, appointments– those I manage to forget.) I thought about a few decants I haven’t worn much. (Mazzolari Lei and Paul & Joe Bleu: kind of similar, I think. Which one should I pick? Can’t decide. Hey, maybe this is why I never wear them!) Ultimately, I landed on Donna Karan Gold edp. The bottle is gorgeous, and I love the perfume, but I don’t wear it very often, for some reason. I feel as though it requires an occasion of some sort. I wore it today, though, for a rainy day spent mostly curled up on the couch, sulking. It made the experience nice enough that I feel a little guilty about the sulking. Now to work my way through everyone else’s choices.
Gold is fantastic. I remember when it first came out. A SA at Macy’s sprayed some for me and my mom. We both bought it on the spot. I don’t reach for it often because it was discontinued and I’m hoarding what I have left, but there was a time when I wore it regularly. You smell wonderful!
Robin, my comment above has me wondering if fragrances bought on the spot after one sniff would make a good poll. Have we done “Love at first sniff” yet?
Oh, nevermind. I found “Fools Rush In Friday” from last August. That was the day before baby Jack’s first birthday party – I was so busy that I missed the entire project.
That’s ok! We’ve done several variations on it, both SOTD and weekend polls, but I’m sure we’ll do it again 🙂
