Sophia Loren, in the first of a three part series for Dolce & Gabbana's Dolce Rosa Excelsa. From Dolce & Gabbana at Instagram: "Sicily, Bagheria. A mother and her five sons return to their ancient family home, a beautiful yet visibly eroded Sicilian Villa, which they restore to its former glory."

hahaha. I really like how Dolce & Gabbana seems to be doing with their advertisement campaigns. The whole family and Italian vibes. So classy and adorable at the same time.
Not everyone agrees:
“Celebrating motherhood is all well and good, but this display was an entirely shallow endorsement of women that smacks of a gimmick. The theme might be sweet and largely inoffensive — after all, who doesn’t love moms? — but it also stuck to a particularly narrow definition of mothers. In D&G’s world, motherhood is the most limiting archetype of all, where women are radiant and impossibly beautiful, but not truly sexual.”
That’s from Time Mag. I bring it up only because while I have no quarrel with this particular ad, I find this kind of veneration of the Italian mother icon kind of creepy.
You have got a point. It idolises a certain mother, but the campaign plays on the stereotype and an unrealistic picturesque charm to an effect.
I should have been clear that the time quote isn’t about this ad. I think it was about one of their runway shows.
Ah, my bad. I have not seen that runway article until a moment ago and confused your comment for this Sophia Loren. Yes, I agree that the runway does not seem to celebrate motherhood; instead, the show feels rather superficial.
Yes, I like it too! And they keep doing it, with enough variations, that it just seems sweetly sincere, without much of a calculated advertising approach vibe to it.
And of course, I have not looked like Sophia Loren yet, but maybe when I get to be the age she is now, something magical will happen!
Ha, see my comment above.
I love Sophia Loren. I want to look like her when I am 81!
she is gorgeous! I, too, want to look like her when I’m that age or Helen Mirren 🙂
I will never look like either, but I’d take Helen Mirren!
But, I am sure that you will smell better than both of them!
