Happy Christmas Eve to all who celebrate! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm barely awake, but I'll eventually be in Fendi Theorema, of course.
Reminder: this coming Friday we will not have a community project. But on Monday 12/28, we'll do a special Monday project...we'll be posting our annual Best of 2015 list, so wear one of your own Best of 2015 fragrances.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the foam garland in red, green and gold is from Joss & Main, but appears to be sold out at the moment.
I’m in Mitsy now, but will probably switch to Fille en Aiguilles for the family Christmas gathering this evening.
Fille en Aiguilles is an appropriate Christmas scent!
Was going to be your scent twin, but it just feels too weird, when it’s 54 degrees out there and sunny. So I put on some Parfumerie Generale Djhenne. I will try to be more on-message tomorrow.
It is downright humid here this afternoon! So wearing it lightly, but it isn’t Christmas without Theorema 🙂
Hello, NST everywhere, and merry Christmas if you observe. All good things to everyone for any reason. So, it’s Christmas morning here –early– and all is not well chez Waterdragon. My poor dear one is horribly ill. I won’t trouble you with the gruesome details, but I suspect little eating and much sleeping will be done in this house today. I’m tuning out until he is well again, so I’ll take this couple of minutes to wish you a most wonderfully scented holiday season. Be well and happy.
What rather terrible timing! Hope the poor dear flushes the bug out soon and that you don’t catch it too. It’s such a miserable state to be in 🙁
Merry Christmas to you both though all the same 🙂
So sorry he’s sick!! Hope he recovers quickly, and also that you don’t fall ill either!
I hope the sickness passes quickly!
Ugh! I hope you are able to enjoy the forced quiet of the day alright! My Mr. Spicebomb has been sick with a cold nearly 2 weeks now, and we keep say, “Surely, it will be gone by Christmas!” No luck as of last night. In any case, I wish both our fellas a speedy recovery!
Sorry to hear it, waterdragon! I hope you both get some rest and are reinvigorated for the new year.
Merry Christmas all the same! I hope the day brightens as the sun rises and that things improve quickly.
Hope Mr Waterdragon feels much, much better soon!
I hope the dear one recovers quickly!
So sorry to hear. This year has been the worst for these horrible sicknesses. I hope he gets to feeling better really soon. It’s one thing to be sick, but to be sick during the holidays, boooo!
Sending well wishes your way.
Sorry to hear that, not a great start to the day. Hope he recovers quickly.
So sorry to hear – hope there’s a quick recovery!
Oh dear, hope he feels better quickly!
It’s just after 10pm here and Im about to crash after an oh-so-busy day. I miss the Christmas of my childhood when there was only excitement and anticipation and no sign of the list checking and preparation to come! It was a fun day though and soon it will be Christmas!! 🙂
I wore a few things today: California Rêverie for errands, post-shower TF Jasmin Rouge, then sampled some of those not-so-nice expensive L’artisans (skin-on-skin and deleria i think. Forgettable), and now I’m in vintage Caron Muguet de bonheur because I noticed my little decant was evaporating. Best choice of the day as this is just beautiful! Rich and creamy lily of the valley. What a pity it no longer smells this way.
I hope you all have a fantastic, stress-free Christmas eve whatever your plans are!!
Merry Christmas Perthie!
Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge – excellent choice. I totally agree with you on the L’artisan Skin-On-Skin. (This is the one that smelled like cat urine on me – definitely was a scrubber). I liked Deleeria enough, but fell in love with Amour Nocturne.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
perthgirl,
I copied you and am wearing California Rêverie — perfect, thanks for the idea 🙂
SOTD: Man Amber (Halston). Happy Holidays everyone!
And to you!
Sigh. Family is usually a good thing in my life but the past 18 hours have been kind of miserable. Was greeted last night by family who really, REALLY wanted to get into a completely unnecessary political argument with me, no matter how much I demurred and tried to get out of it. And then, of course, fury because I didn’t want to fight. It ended in tears (mine) and I’m ready to give up on Christmas altogether.
Wearing Fate Woman this morning to get me through. In the car now on the way to a potluck breakfast we’re throwing, though of course my mother is incapable of getting to anything on time and has delayed us, so I’m worried our guests may arrive without us to greet them…
Amouage give me strength.
Hope everyone’s day is a good one.
Amouage WILL give you strength!!
Your family sound like mine! As much as I love them I am somewhat dreading the next two days of catch-ups and tongue-biting. It sucks they made you cry though. Big hug for you and hopefully you have some much lovelier moments to make it better.
Merry Christmas Ms year-of-many-fabulous-ideas 😉
At least with Fate you know you can take solace in smelling stunning. Hope the rest of your holidays goes smoother
Wishing you strength! I feel your pain and hope it gets better!!
*Sigh* Such a bother that these occasions can bring out the worst in some people! I’m sorry you have family who can be so rude and unkind, and I hope you have good friends somewhere nearby who will help raise your spirits soon! (Although certainly a glorious perfume will help in the mean time.)
Ugh, sorry to hear this. Not a fun way to start Christmas celebrations. I hope the rest of the time goes better with your family. At least you can enjoy smelling fabulous!
Just remember your a New Yorker and wearing Fate, you can handle anything! Have a great holiday
Good heavens! What stinkers! I am sorry for your discomfort. You can choose your friends but you cannot choose your family.
They are HAPPY to see you and they were probably taken aback by the confidence you exuded. Merry Christmas, my dear!
Omigosh. Big hugs! Well… hope the visit improves. Or at least is over quickly. I sympathize… we no longer fly cross-country to visit relatives for the holidays after the last fiasco, in which my brother barred my mother and me from his house on Christmas Day since we had had the nerve to visit his ex-wife. You know, the mother of my niece. Who had just had surgery for a brain tumor. [Some member of my family are full-on cuckoo.] We had Christmas dinner at Legal Seafoods, which I must say, was excellent 🙂
We’re off to enjoy Xmas Eve with friends, who are much more fun! It will be a madhouse, tons of people crowded into a tiny condo, much food and wine will be consumed.
Hope everyone finds joy this holiday season!
Hey pixel, thanks for sharing your story of family holiday drama. Sad! But it’s comforting for me to know that the full-on cuckoo appears in many families, not just mine. Have a fab holiday! 🙂
Of course, *we* are completely normal rational sane folks, are we not? 😉 Happy holidays to you as well!
So sorry to hear this. Sounds like the “Grinch” tried to steal your Christmas joy. I hope your beautiful scents guards and protects you like kryptonite (in a positive way for you) and sends all that evilness away! Shame on them making you cry. Girl, don’t let them steal your joy! As my mom would say, “Kill them with kindness!”
Oh no. Why in the world does anyone want to go on the attack like that? Jealousy, resentment … ? The reason is irrelevant of course, but bewildering. I hope the holiday ends in happiness for you, my dear, and that perfume carries us all, triumphant, through the new year.
Chin up, shoulders back, and project that fabulous sillage! 🙂
So sorry! And do hope things calm down.
If it is ant consolation you smell fab-u-lous, ihadanidea.
I sniffed my Fate Woman bottle trying to decide my SOTD, but ultimately opted for Shalimar.
FW was the Miss Philippians (sic) to Shalimar’s Miss Columbia (sic) !!!
Courage and Strength, Friend !!!
*any . Where is an editing feature ? :…….(
Not many years ago, my sister and I had what I call the big Christmas blow up, in other words it was horrible. But this Christmas Eve was one of the most fun I’ve had in years, not one harsh word from anyone. So today might be completely different!
Nice picture, Robin! Thanks to a generous friend’s decant, I’m wearing Amouage Opus IX, something I’d never expected to like. Unlike other Amouage perfumes it’s light and airy! It’s non linear, featuring a carefully orchestrated progression over time. The camelia accord is lovely, especially in the honeyed dry down. If you don’t normally like jasmine, which is featured here, give this one a try. Ditto if you have trouble with the potency of Amouage perfumes.
Best wishes for this holiday season!
Lovely description. Once I get through the mainline Amouage samples, I’ll definitely try the Opus seires.
Hi everyone, best wishes for a relaxing day. My SOTD is Coromandel and my husband, who never wears perfume, requested a dab as well. It smells great on him – the only other thing he wears is a dab of my beloved Shalimar extrait once in a blue moon which he also wears well. He’s a big strapping guy but there’s a little streak of the dandy in there, too.
I love the idea of a husband in Shalimar!
Me, too!
how wonderful! I am going to see if my husband will try Coromandel tonight!
Thank you for making this comment about your hubby wearing some of your fragrances. I mentioned a couple of days ago that I bought a Tom Ford fragrance for my brother for Xmas, and realized it was the women’s version (Noir Femme). Your post is just another affirmation for me that its okay for a man to wear a scent that is “labeled” for a woman.
Coromandel is a fabulous scent! Both you and your hubby smell fantastic!
Merry Christmas!! Robin, I can’t remember, do you wear Theorema every Christmas?
I did not plan ahead so have no idea what I’ll wear today. It’ll be a big day of cooking with family in town! I’ve really been enjoying RougeBunnyRouge Lilt the past two days, so if I can’t decide that will be my fallback, though it’s rather unseasonable… still, the fig-peach-dry cocoa combination is genius.
Scent cousins! I’m in Rouge Bunny Rouge Arcadia at the moment. Will switch to something cozier later… not sure what… maybe Theorema 😉
Ahh, scent cousins! I love that! How is Arcadia?
Well, I think I do, but I have not checked past polls to be sure…maybe I cheat some years!
SOTD is Atkinsons Amber Empire, from a sample. It’s nice but unremarkable but I suspect it would be great for layering!
Wow am I behind on Atkinsons. Glad it’s at least nice.
Merry Christmas Eve and Happy Holidays to all! I am wearing VC&A Bois d’Iris, which just suits my skin perfectly, and makes me very happy while I am sitting in an almost empty office, waiting for the phone to ring… 🙂
I am eating some very good grapes with little dabs of fresh farmer’s cheese. Yum.
Mmm, grapes and cheese is a nice snack idea. Hope your work day is peaceful and quick!
EL Bronze Goddess fans: Von Maur has a gift set with Eau Fraiche Skinscent, body creme and powder bronzer on sale for $49.50 (originally $70). (No affiliation)
There are some other EL gift sets as well
I am a fan. I have never heard of this retail store you are referring to. Can you elaborate on this?
It’s a department store, and they are online.
Thanks!
Wow, nice!
Vintage-ish Aromatics Elixir with the oakmoss intact. Not exactly Christmassy but today it seemed like the right fit somehow, and it was.
Oakmoss seems Christmassy to me – it smells like the forest that’s given birth to all fairy tales and magic.
In Angelique Noire! Happy holy and holly days!
Be well and take good care
Nice to see you here. I take your presence to mean you are still waiting. 🙂 Hope you’re feeling well!
I’ve been wondering about that, too! Maybe an extra-special Christmas present will be unwrapped? 😀
Thanks! I am still waiting 🙁
My midwife saw me this week and said “this baby is still sitting really high, see you next week!”
The good thing is at least we are able to travel tomorrow to see my family, I do ok in the car as long as its not bumpy or else I start to have contractions!
Such anticipation! It’s good that you’ll be able to make it through Christmas, at least.
Oh, maybe you can have a New Year’s first baby!
I had a ‘Christmas Day ‘ baby that actually arrived at 10 seconds past midnight on New Years Day…we made the paper headlines for first baby of the year when in fact it felt like the worlds longest pregnancy .
I’m still in my jammies, eating ginger snaps, drinking tea, and burning a L’Artisan The et Pain d’Epices candle (reminiscent of SL Five O’Clock Au Gingembre). Later I’ll wear OJ Ta’if and a red velvet dress to see the Nutcracker. I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas Eve!
Ooh! Wish I could sidle up next to you to enjoy the treats and smells and ballet and velvet! LOVELY way to have a day!
🙂 I do enjoy indulging myself.
I will take a few ginger snaps! yum yum
Youth Dew for me today. For the first time in thirty years I’m staying home for Christmas. Usually, I would be making a four hour drive to Austin, but this year, because of a death in our family, and because her grandkids are at their other grandmother’s in El Paso, my sister decided she was not going to host Christmas. So I get to stay home with my cats.
Cats are like family-so you can host them for christmas! 🙂
I hope you enjoy a peaceful Christmas. I’ll be staying home with my cats, too, since I’m not able to visit my family this year.
Merry Christmas Eve! Wearing Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamon, per the teenager’s pick!
It’s gonna be a different kind of holiday today for me….Last night my 100 lb Labrador decided to play in the mud. Roll in it, dig in it, and cover himself in LAYERS of red Georgia mud. THEN….he got loose in the house (pulled away from one of the kids) and decided to run and shake off in my entire house. It is a TERRIBLE mess. I’ll be cleaning all day today, mopping and wiping walls and reminding myself that I LOVE my Chewy!!! 🙂 Have already been out in the rain to buy more floor cleaner, and we had to call a carpet service to clean the carpets on Monday. But HEY!!! I’m off work, the family is together, and life goes on! 🙂
Have a FABULOUS day, everyone!! I refuse to not have a good day, so I’m gonna turn on some music and mop away….smelling like Jo Malone!
Oh no, what a mess! You have a great attitude about the situation, though. Sometimes you just have to laugh and carry on. Merry Christmas Eve to you. 🙂
That sounds like a scene from out of a movie!
I had a Rottweiler named Chewy (named because he chewed EVERYTHING up – shoes, furniture, etc….) that loved to do similar things. Thing, when you would scream at him, he would come up to you, rub against your leg, and give you those big, cute doggie sad eyes that made you feel like you were the guilty one. What do you do? You have the right attitude. Merry Christmas to you, your family, and Chewy 🙂 .
LOL – nothing can make a mess like a dog. They give toddlers a run for the money, and, like toddlers, quickly get themselves forgiven.
Once a year I wear Nuit de Noel, and today’s the day!
Lovely, enjoy!
Wearing Une Rose Chyprée, which hits the spot very well.
I hope everyone has a good Christmas!
And you!
Good Morning, and Merry Christmas Eve!
No SOTD, yet, and I’m hoping to find inspiration here for what to wear this afternoon/evening. This morning will be spent doing Christmas Day preparations and going to the gym (it will be closed tomorrow, so must fit it in today!).
I need (really NEED!) to bake a French Silk Pie for dessert for tomorrow night (honestly, who doesn’t need French Silk Pie?!). There’s plenty of cleaning and arranging to do, too. And then about 2pm, Christmas with the Spicebomb family begins, so off we go to the countryside to celebrate with his family.
I enjoy the bustle, though, to be honest. Much rather be cleaning and baking than shopping or driving. So, perhaps a pensive scent for this morning, something to savor? Post workout and shower, I can be more appropriately festive. (Must give it more thought. 🙂 )
I need a French Silk Pie! 🙂
Sounds like a love couple of days ahead for you. I’ll be interested to hear what scents you decide on.
Post shower, but still early enough, I have selected some vintage wood pudding–a healthy dose of Organza Indecence (from the old pillar bottle). It would play well with others, should I decide to switch to something with more oomph for the evening’s festivities!
What is French silk pie…it sounds like something from a Victoria’s Secret catalogue!
Ha!
French Silk Pie is magic food, I swear! You start by making a whipped egg custard in a bain-marie on the stove top. The eggs become this luscious, silky, fluffy magical stuff! Then you stir in melted chocolate and stiffly-whipped cream. Place in a prebaked pie shell and refrigerate for a few hours (or better yet, overnight, hence the making it today). Serve with fresh whipped cream on top and maybe a few shavings of bittersweet chocolate. Amazing. Makes me want to take a French cooking class just so I can understand the magic of the eggs better. (Which, I acknowledge, is a little nerdy even for me. 🙂 )
Boy that sounds amazing…beats trifle any day.
I had to look up French Silk Pie to see pretty pictures. Ooh la la! It looks stunning. With you on the cleaning/prep vs commuting/shopping activities on the Eve. Maybe a spritely citrus in the morning and a favourite Amouage in the afternoon…?
Mmm. Amouage is a good thought. Decadent me, that narrows it down to 4 choices . . . (Such a glutton!)
Thanks to El Niño, we are having an exceptionally warm, soggy Christmas eve in the DC area. Can’t motivate myself to get out the Christmas tree, but I did put one of the adorable Cartier holiday panther cubs on my screen. 🙂 I’d be wearing Caron Nuit de Noel on the 24th, but Hermes Cuir d’Ange seems like a better fit this year.
Wishing everyone all the best for the holidays and/or a great weekend!
Who needs a tree when you smell so divine ( and festive)? Merry Christmas to you in your not-quite winter wonderland.
Thanks, Kanuka! Glad to hear that taking a chance on Skive worked out well for you. Canoe Goods must have enjoyed sending it off to your magical location.
Mostly grumpy last minute shoppers at the book store today. I shall not let them disrupt my inner calm. Drenched in YSL Cinema and not really enjoying the 80 degree weather. Happy Holidays to all and may you have peace and joy and air conditioning!
Yuck, sorry! Thought it would be the other way around, only cheerful folk.
I am wearing red flower’s moisturizing mist in wanderlust, partly to moisturize my hide, partly because i love its woodsy not-quite-incensey smell, and partly because i know it will wear off soon and I can pick something else to wear. nowhere I have to be, nothing I have to do — it’s bliss.
Yum, enjoy!
SOTM is Jour d’Hermes, inspired by Robin’s post yesterday. We had people over for dinner last night (one of whom just got back from a trip to Kenya) and I must have had a teensy bit more wine than intended (argh) … but I’m off work today and snuggled in my favorite chair, sipping coffee with my feet wrapped up in a Masai blanket our friend brought back for us. Eventually I have to haul myself out of said chair and address Christmas cards (yes, I know), which at this point I’m thinking of as New Year’s cards. When did life get so busy?
Anyway, happy ChrismaHanuKwanzikah, everyone – travel safe, and try to have patience with whichever relative(s) are naughty/annoying/infuriating/embarrassing or all of the above, and I’ll do the same. 🙂
Back at you, SheriG. Very nicely put!
I have not been motivated to send out any cards in the past few years and I am inclined to skip the belated Christmas card writing this year again…in fact, I will!
Oh, you temptress you … permission to NOT send holiday cards? What a concept! Although, come to think of it, we haven’t received very many holiday cards from our usual suspects either. Maybe it’s a trend!
New Years cards are a great idea. I also think they can arrive any time in January without being late. 😉
Happy Thursday/Friday to all, and Merry Christmas Eve/Christmas to those who celebrate!
Put on Guet-Apens after some Rose Jam shower gel and am absolutely loving both in the tropical heat. Wow, will I ever be heartbroken when I run out of Guet-Apens.
I’ve been enjoying everyone’s SOTD from a far, but had a few extra minutes today and wanted to join in. It’s been a pretty wonderful vacation so far, including very few work emails (yes, I’m still keeping an eye on my work email), not-too-many mosquito bites, and, after seven happy years, a proposal (yay!). Basically, I’m overwhelmed with happiness at the moment and hope everyone has a loving, peaceful holiday season full of health and joy!
Congratulations on getting engaged!
Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!! Congratulations!! That is awesome. So happy for you guys, yay!
Woo hoo, congratulations on your engagement!
Oh, congrats! That’s wonderful!
Congratulations! That makes December a celebratory month 🙂
Oh my! What a splendid Christmas gift. Wishing you all kinds of happiness.
congratulations!
Lovely, best wishes to you both!
Congrats on your engagement! 🙂
Thank you, everyone! I’m just bubbling over! 😀
So happy for you. Wishing you many more happy years.
Merry Christmas Eve and Happy Holidays Everyone! I tried to do EVERYTHING that I needed to do Monday – Wednesday so I could sit back and watch on television all the last minute shoppers bravely and frantically do their thing. I dabbled in my sample stash last night (which by the way, I organized them into 3 categories and containers) and selected Scarlet Larkspur by Ineke. Interestingly enough, I like it. Its different and goes through several phases as it dries down. The initial spray of it is what I enjoyed most. It is really unique and a pleasant change for me. Hope everyone has a great day!
That one’s quite nice! I think I prefer the “Floral Curiosities” to the main line.
Always interested in people’s organizational methods – what are the categories?
LOL! Don’t judge when I say this (I’m a little weird):
1st container: samples of perfumes that I already own but was given to me by SA and also samples of perfumes that I would love to own full bottles of ( ex: Jo Malone, Byredo, Hermes, Chanel, Judith Leiber, Tom Ford, Estee Lauder, Jo Loves) – these are the samples mostly used because I am familiar with them
2nd container: samples of mostly mainstream fragrances that can be purchased everywhere that have accumulated over the years (i.e. Ulta, Sephora, Macy’s, Dillards, etc…) I occasionally will dabble in these samples – i.e. when I am just hanging around in the house, when I go to bed
(ex: Versace, Elie Saab, Prada, Gucci, Fresh Life) – I end up giving a lot of these away to friends and family because I have hundreds of these
3rd container: these are samples of perfumes that I know little about and want to learn more about – Indie perfumers, scents that I may come across on Surrender to Chance or Lucky Scent that peak my interest, and samples that I get from my Olfactif subscription and fragrances that I read about on NST (ex: Imaginary Authors, Neela, Vermeire, Juliette Has A Gun, DSH Perfumes, 4160 Tuesdays, Amouage, Dame Perfumery, Ineke)
I have the most fun with these because it introduces me to new and unique scents
Interesting! And of course, no judgment whatsoever. 🙂 I have a couple of similar categories, such as samples that I own full bottles of, and samples of mainstream fragrances that are easy to come by. And I also tend to wear the more mainstream ones at bedtime … Mostly because they’re usually less interesting than others, and I don’t want to sleep through any wonderful development! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Nice! Maybe great perfumista minds think alike! LOL! Good to know that I’m not as strange as I thought I was. Glad to hear someone has similar categories as well.
I’m enjoying Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s gorgeous holiday scent for 2015, Noel Enchante. It’s a departure from her other, delightful holiday offerings of the past, in that it is not a spicy Oriental or pine/fir scent, but instead is a modern tuberose chypre with moderate sillage and excellent longevity. My best new discovery since Eric a Buterbaugh’s Regal Tuberose…just stunning and absolutely full bottle worthy.
Merry Christmas to all!
I’m looking forward to receiving my package. My order got caught in the sparkle15 rush and it is scheduled to arrive on December 30th when I am away.
I feel your pain! I live 30 minutes from Dawn’s studio, but had my order shipped anyway, because I’ve been too busy to get up there. Wouldn’t you know, UPS rescheduled the delivery 3x! What was supposed to arrive last Thursday didn’t get here until this past Monday. Next time, I will just find the time to go up there.
Are you expecting Noel Enchante in your package? If so, I think you will love it! Chypre has been the most difficult ‘genre’ for me, but it’s fragrances like this one that are helping me understand and even begin to enjoy some of them.
Yes, Noel Enchante is included. I used to order doubles of the dabber samples and then empty them into my own atomizers. Perhaps I just never noticed it but most of the perfumes are now available as 3 mL atomizer samples and I ended up ordering a bunch of those.
Sampling Amoureuse today — day off, nobody around, good time to test a STRONG! perfume
Thanks for the warning! What’s it like?
After a few hours, the cardamom is finally calming down a bit and I’m getting a bit more honey and the indoles of white florals without actually smelling the white florals yet–it’s more like there’s a textural richness of white floral skank along the bottom of my perceptual field
Oh my yes, that’s a great description. Amoureuse has it all. It’s like a luxurious blanket of flowers and fragrance.
I get lush, dirty white flowers from the beginning. It’s wonderful! But yes, best to wear when you’re not around lots of people!
The skank comment scared me but maybe it is not SKANK!
Happy holidays everyone! I am wearing L’Heure Bleue and looking forward to lots of cooking and eating with family.
Happy holidays! Today I need to deliver a few presents and then will have a meal with good friends. I feels like wearing a white floral for some reason, but not too big. Don’t want it to take over at dinner time.
Holiday greetings, everyone! I love reading all your comments, reveling in the joy of those who are having a great day, and agonizing along with those of you who are having a tougher time right now.
My household normally celebrates quite ecumenically at this time of year, but this year 2 family members are down with illness, I am at work today (ugh), I think we might be skipping the X-mas Eve party we were going to go to, and even the Vodka/latkes/babka/kafka party planned for tomorrow might have to be missed. We will still be doing Christmas dinner and presents.
Since it is so unseasonably warm, I’m in Lush’s The Smell of Weather Turning. Hoarding this sample, but today really called for it.
6.30 on Christmas morning and I’m the only one awake. I’m sleeping in the lounge ( great view of the stars at night ) by the Christmas tree as my visiting mother has my bed. Nice though it is to have her in the house, she has disrupted by early morning perfume ritual – namely that I get up, and apply perfume first thing before going to kitchen to feed dogs and make coffee. Cutting dog roll and filling the jug always goes better with a dash of scent…it means I can sniff my wrist as I wait for the kettle to boil. Today I will wear Skive again because I love it. And maybe Cristalle as it is so green outside…green hills, blue skies.
So strange that my son is not up at 5am today. I guess that means he is a teenager at last.
Happy scented days everyone. Hope life is good for you all.
Happy Holidays everyone!
Joyous Holidays, all! Hope everyone finds pleasure in the season, whatever meaning it may have for you.
SOTD = Aftelier Bergamoss EDP
This is a perfect green for unseasonably warm weather — 70s and spitty rainy and it is so grey that even Christmas red looks orange. My $1 bag of bows will be handy as that will be the extent of Christmas “wrapping” planned for today. Christmas comes on the same day every year and you would think that we have enough time to plan for a date that is known in advance! Anyway, tonight, I will attend a Candlelight Service and tomorrow, the family is having Christmas breakfast at a diner, followed by gift exchanges at one of my sisters’ place, followed by a movie ( not sure which one yet).
If it stops spitting, I may walk over to Wegmans to do some last minute shopping.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happly Holidays.
Christmas Eve is the family holiday we host in our home, so I’m busy getting the house ready and cooking. I had to take time out to come on here, though, since I love visiting NST so much.
I’m wearing Chanel No. 22 today.
Happy Holidays to all !!
I’ve been obsessing over Marni after smelling a scent strip and then acquiring a sample and it has remained my one perfume regret since I never found it again in the stores. However, in the season of holiday giving, I purchased a bottle for myself from eBay and am anxiously awaiting its planned arrival on Saturday. It’s been a couple years since I tried it and I’m hoping I still like it. Meanwhile…I’ve just applied a sample of the gorgeous Portrait of a Lady and I’m wondering if my memory is playing tricks on me…is Marni an uber light version of POAL?? If so, I am even more excited about the imminent arrival of Marni!
Nightingale! A while back, I made a comment that if Portrait of a Lady had a baby with Jubilation XXV, Marni is the perfect end result 🙂
Yippee!! So. Excited!!
Staying in this morning so have no compunction wearing two perfumes at once: Encens Mythique on one hand and Nombril Immense on the other. EM is being rather rude and calling NI a stable hand, and NI is taking deep breaths and rising above it all. I am sure that harmony will eventually prevail.
Alone in my Youth Dew today and tonight, enjoying sunshine and quiet. I’m hoping for a good PBS show tonight to accompany lobster salad, some good bread, and nice wine. I wish all NSTers happiness, health, and luscious scents today and in the year ahead.
Happy Christmas Eve and Happy Christmas Day to everyone in their different time zones. Christmas morning here, and having breakfast before opening our presents – no young children, so no early start 🙂
No perfume yet, as I know there is a bottle of Le Galion’s La Rose under the tree for me. My mother very sensibly suggests each year that I get something I want. It’s been perfume for the last few years, no surprise to NSTers, I’m sure!
I’m wearing Harajuku Lovers Jingle G because I figured the cute Santa-themed bottle was appropriate. The scent not so much; it doesn’t smell Christmas-y to me, although I do like it.
Happy holidays to all!
Wearing a dab of Infusion d’Iris from my never-ending sample vial, now craving Eau des Merveilles. These not-sweet scents are what I need in the midst of so many edible sweets. Have a sweet day!
I am wearing Prada Infusion d’Iris which was a birthday gift from my husband this year. I really enjoy wearing it to the office because it’s subtle and sophisticated without being completely boring.
Right-on! Infusion wins everywhere. 🙂
Hoping everyone is enjoying (or at least surviving) their holidays. Wearing Rose Oud today and enjoying its serene beauty. Tomorrow I celebrate Christmas with the cats at the shelter. I think it will be fun, even though I pulled litter box duty, which means I have to wash about 40 litter boxes!
Bless you for looking after the fur babies on Christmas Day!
Maybe not the most glamorous job, but the kitties will be grateful for it. Giving to others is such an incredibly special way to spend the day. I hope get in a few good kitty snuggles while you’re at it!
Thank you, jirish — you rock!
Scentless so far today. This evening I’ll go to a Christmas service and then to a fondue party with friends. Can’t decide how I want to smell, as the weather isn’t really supporting the season (it’s weird to have windows open in the house this time of year!). Nevertheless, happy holidays, peace and blessings to all!!
What did you end up wearing? Since Bergamoss did not last long (to be fair, I did not douse myself), I ended up spritzing on a tiny bit of SSS Forest Walk right before leaving for the Candlelight Service and it was just the right touch.
Forest Walk is fantabulous! (Bergamoss, too!) Since I was running late, I didn’t search out anything “special”. The first thing my hand came to was Adam Levine for Women (purchased based on AnnieA’s comments about it last year; I wouldn’t have thought to try it otherwise). My Christmas present to myself is Ashoka–duly wrapped and waiting under the tree…
Happy holidays to all my NST companions!
I had to do a bit of a last minute run to the grocery and liquor stores this morning, and wore Eau des Merveilles for comfort, expecting a madhouse. Surprise! No lines at all. My Christmas fairy must have given me a little gift.
If I can suppress my lingering cough long enough, I’ll be going to an orphan’s party tonight, wearing Mohur I think. Otherwise, a hot toddy in front of the fire.
DH is in the kitchen cooking supper, I am on the couch with the dogs reading. Wanted something rosy so I packed PHI Rose de Kandahar. Will spritz on some Nuit de Noel at bedtime. Merry Christmas to all my fragrant friends!
The upside to being injured this year is that I won’t be working–and my only responsibility will be to tote delicious bottles in my backpack to the homes of friends. And smelling of Tea for Two.
You smell great jjlook!
I once had 3 different women follow me and ask what I was wearing when I had on T4T. I spray alot!!! LOLOLOL
Enjoy!!
You were working it! Way to go! 🙂
I’m wearing vintage 1960’s Shalimar EDC, my mother’s bottle that she never opened. Another lesson taught, use what you love!!
Merry Christmas Everyone !!! 🙂
Fabulous! I haven’t smelled the EDC, but I adore Shalimar and there is literally no doubt in my mind that you smell heavenly.
I can hook you up!
Word, have to constantly remind myself to use & enjoy, not merely hoard. I may retrieve my vintage Shalimar parfum for tomorrow. It’s much quieter than the current edp, though it may partly be due to dab vs spray.
Merry Christmas, Bear & everyone!
Wow!! You smell incredible, the EDC’s what made me understand the devotion to Shalimar. Glad your mom’s bottle will be enjoyed, at long last! Merry Christmas!!
Holy cow, busy week!! Just wanted to pop in and say Merry Christmas to those who celebrate. Hope everyone’s family get togethers are not too dysfunctional. A glass of wine always helps, or at least doesn’t hinder 😉
I will be spending a lazy day at home with my children for Christmas. I just finished wrapping their presents. I hope they like what they are getting. I feel bad because I am not much of a cook, and are family is very small, they don’t get to experience a lot of holiday tradition. I am wishing everyone here a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. All of you are simply wonderful.
Hello lillyjo!
Food is NOT delicious because of the cook, it it delicious because of the love behind the cook!
Have a Merry Christmas, to you and yours !!!!!
How sweet of you to comment, Bear! I may not have many recipes, but I do have lots of love. Thank you, and Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone. Starting off early today, helping my mom with some volunteer work before family mayhem begins again.
A very merry holiday to all. Wishing you peace, joy and love. (And perfume, of course.)
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! I didn’t have time to post yesterday due to Christmas preparations but you all smelled lovely and I enjoyed reading your posts. I wore Nuit de Noel for Christmas Eve from a sample provided by a generous perfumista. I hope everyone has a lovely day regardless of whether you celebrate!
