We won't start our "official" series of holiday gift posts until Black Friday, but since advent calendars tend to sell out quickly, we're posting those early this year. We already did Part 1; today, we've another handful of fragrance-related calendars plus one tea calendar and one chocolate calendar. (Please note that many of these calendars are not available in the US. Clearly they like Advent calendars in the UK more than in the US).
From Diptyque, a calendar featuring candles, travel sprays and body care. It will reportedly be at Selfridges in the UK in November, £250.
From L'Occitane, "Indulge a loved one or treat yourself to a luxurious pre-Christmas gift with the L’Occitane Christmas Beauty Advent Calendar. Featuring a selection of best sellers, this calendar is filled with 24 Provençal treats." £39 at L'Occitane UK. (I am almost sure this one was available in the US last year as well.)
From Liberty in the UK, the 2015 calendar, featuring a mix of beauty products including items from Kai and Diptyque. It will debut in late October, £149.
From Kiehl's, an advent calendar featuring the brand's body and facial care products plus a couple fragrance items in Patchouli & Fresh Rose. €50 at Douglas in Germany.
From QVC, a 2015 beauty calendar including a couple of scented items from Nest and Philosophy. $80 at QVC.
From Fortnum & Mason, a refillable Tea Advent calendar made of wood: "Keep track of the days until Father Christmas arrives with this handcrafted, wooden Fortnum & Mason Tea Calendar. Behind each of the 24 decorative doors lies a suprisingly [sic] wonderful selection of rare teas sourced from India and the Far East." £125 (or £90 unfilled) at Fortnum & Mason.
From Lindt, the Wintercountry Advent Calendar: "Unwrap every day in December with chocolate joy! Calendar holds novelty chocolates including Santa, snowman, seal, icicle, penguin, angel and star figures in milk chocolate, white chocolate and hazelnut." $38 from Lindt USA.
Germany is littered with these right now — every department store and drugstore and beauty store has its own makeup/perfume Advent calendars out. Thank heavens they’re filled with boring scents! (I am staying out of Munich — whatever Ludwig Beck has would almost certainly be both lovely and a bad idea for my pocketbook.)
I noticed that Douglas had quite a few! Really, we are very poorly served with Advent calendars in the US, other than chocolate.
Yep, Douglas has a number of them. Looks like Ludwig Beck has some of the ones you’ve highlighted (at least on the website) — Kiehl’s & L’Occitane. (Allowed myself to look! Not sure if they have their own in-store, though.) Germany is the capital of Advent calendars, but it seems it’s gone pretty crazy in the last 10 years or so since I lived here last — Karstadt has makeup / fragrance calendars, DM & Müller (drugstores) do, and don’t even get me started on the toy / candy ones that my kid begs for every time I walk in a store (four or five different Playmobil ones, two different Lego ones, Tiptoi talking book ones, Haribo gummy bear ones, etc.) And every chocolate under the sun has one, some quite expensive. Plus the build your own ones…this is not what I remember from when I was a kid!
Ha…I am lucky my son grew out of the Lego calendar, we had a number of those!
The L’occitane one looks to be a great value.
Agree!
OMG, I want one of each!!
I have always been very excited about Advent Calendars, even though my family is not religious. My brother and I got one each year when we were kids…But now that I think about it, we always picked them up just after Thanksgiving in Frankenmuth, MI., a proud “Bavarian Village.”
I would not say no to the Diptyque 😉
Oh, I long for the Fortnum & Mason one!
Yeah, I’d take that! Or even the refill.
Thank you! i love Advent calendars, and never would have know about these if not for this post!
