If you have a free moment, do share your fragrance of the day.
I'm wearing Guerlain Teazzurra.ย
Reminder: on 29 May we're doing Flirty Friday, and you can interpret that however you like.ย
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
I am wearing Maria Candida Gentile Hanbury sprayed over Deep Steep Honeydew – Spearmint (dry oil). It is a good pick-me-up fragrance, very summery.
Sounds like a fun combo! I do like Hanbury.
Encre Noir (Lalique)
Make that Encre Noire ๐
You smell fabulous today!
EN is very stunning!
I’m wearing Fraicheur Muskissime, which I don’t expect to outlast the hour.
But while it lasts…
Le Maroc pour Elle, which will last till next week ๐
๐ It will last until next week! That’s my fav Tauer. It is so sensuous.
Yyyyyeah, that one’ll stick around awhile… great if you love it, not so great if you don’t. (I like it, don’t love. But that sample lasted a long time. ๐ )
I love Maroc pour Elle as well, and also Noontide Petals, which is so cheerful. I got a partial decant in a swap and it is almost gone now.
And I forgot to ask, what is Teazzura like?
It’s an awful lot like Glade
Ok, I’ve been putting off asking…how do people wear scents they’ve decided they don’t like? That would just ruin my day. I was a picky eater from the day I was born, but is it just a tolerance thing?
Not speaking for everyone but sometimes out of a sense of adventure or just pure stubbornness I will wear something I’ve worn and disliked, just to see if I’ve changed my mind. Sometimes I have! I discovered that La Nuit de Paco Rabanne was genius and not filth, as I had thought for so many years. But I tried L’Artisan Mechant Loup many times and just never liked it, so at least now I know.
I will wear stuff that I don’t “get” right away, but I don’t retest things that make me feel revulsion. If I don’t like something and I keep trying, it is usually because it is a classic that I want to like or is something that has gotten rave reviews from bloggers that I like.
Same here. I only tried Teint de Neige once. Still trying to erase it from my memory.
Apply small amount to back of hand, that’s what I do. Easiest place to scrub off later, and doesn’t get on your clothing.
Is Glade a detergent?
Air freshener.
My eyes keep reading “deterrent” instead of detergent, but perhaps it is the same thing… ๐
Quite possibly….
But which particular Glade?
The $100 one.
Lol!
๐
Excellent!
Priceless.
Ha!
Loving these random comments ๐
Ha! I would agree.
SOTD is Gucci EDP (brown juice, clear bottle), my most-complimented fragrance. Just ordered a(nother) replacement bottle – I think I need a vat of this!
I hope they’ll keep making it!
I’m afraid it’s long DC’d, but it’s still widely available at the Evil Overlords of Commerce. I dread the day when that changes.
That certainly is a pretty tea cup in the photo. I’m wearing Ineke After My Own Heart. Wanted something nice and light for the hot steamy day they’re predicting for us here in the Midwest today.
Adams Singapore Bird…
Oh, thanks, I was admiring it as well..(like I need another China pattern to lemming after) and it is nice to know the name!
I have been wanting the Adams Chinese Garden forever, but never get around to it. Similar but a bit different:
http://images1.chinasearch.co.uk/362/2/982/1.jpg
I have a few pieces of Chinese Garden from a church rummage sale. Nothing like a complete set, but I can mix it with other china.
Nice! I keep hoping I’ll find some that way.
I have a set of that from my grandmother. Still boxed up since we have twins that are almost 2. One day!
Nice, lucky you!
I had no idea it was well-known. I just always loved her dishes, so I got them when she moved into a retirement home. She is no longer with us, but lived to 101 and wore Chantilly for as long as I can remember.
SOTD is Terre d’Hermes. I was super tired this morning and it’s really muggy out – TdH is cutting right through both of those ๐
Pretty teacup indeed! I do love drinking tea out of fancy cups. Teazzura sounds fun.
Super muggy here too!
Oh, what a beautiful teacup!
Feeling like I needed some vigor this morning, I’m wearing Arabian Oud Kalemat and am exceptionally fragrant even though I only put on a few tiny drops. It’s definitely livelier than I am right now, but I’ll keep drinking tea until I wake up.
Hope the tea worked ๐
Bas de Soie, first test. Unfortunately, I keep sniffing to find something likeable (hyacinth and iris are among my favorite notes), and then rear back with dismay. At first I though newborn diaper, but now it’s a bit of that plus runny egg yolk.
I find your tolerance admirable.
I found Bas de Soie unbearably metallic. (But have definitely had Eau de Diaper ruin at least a couple of fragrances I thought I’d like.)
Thank goodness I don’t get EdD when I wear BdS!
Surprising – I don’t get any dirty or bizarre notes to BdS, and I’m usually quick to catch those (and ban the offender for ever). BdS is just green and floral, green and floral (repeat until it fades) for me. I suppose it’s also a bit metallic, but so am I ;).
It’s going to be hot and muggy today (yeah! – not snow!), and I was going to wear Mandragore. But on the way over to that lovely maroon bottle, my hand switched directions and reached for Songes edp instead. Songes is turning out to be the perfect sultry compliment to this weather. When it’s right for Songes, it is just so right!
Your absolutely right about Songes! Too cold here though for its beauty…feels like March instead of May…
Songes is moody for sure. We feel like August rather than May, but I’m not going to be the one to complain about heat since we had 7 months of snow this past winter. ๐
Thumbs up on your Songes.
Songes to me is a year round perfume but my favourite season for it is definitely summer. It blooms in the heat.
The (yellow) irises start to carefully bloom around my pond, but I am wearing a blue iris, Hiris. It fits the day, and is wonderful company.
Our yellow iris just went too.
I love irises.
I’ve been experimenting for several years with drying oris root. The scent was just not developing; I was so disappointed. After further research, I realized the oxidation process that develops the scent requires, duh, oxygen. Meaning uncovered containers, rather than bottled. Scent development has resumed nicely (after 2 lost years).
Oh, so cool! May I send you some email questions about how you are doing that?
Sure, no problem. Andrea deveto at gee em ecks (gmx) dott com.
That is so cool. Good for you for keeping on trying for over two years.
It just sat in a cupboard.
I’m wearing L’Artisan Nuit de Tubereuse today. Very energizing!
I should wear NdT more than I do. I’m getting some good ideas for this week.
Hermรจs Epice Marine. Kind of like a very light men’s aquatic scent, only more interesting, but in the end it’s basically a watercolour copy of CSP Aqua Motu.
Mmmm, I love the opening of Epice Marine. Haven’t decided how I feel about the rest of it yet. But that opening…just divine.
SOTD is 31 rue Cambon. The first time I smelled it I thought “Gorgeous! But so not me.” And it’s not me, at all. But every now and then I dab some on from the small sample I have and pretend my life is way more glamorous than it is ๐
Oooh…maybe it’s a sign of things to come.
I love it, it’s one of my favourite work scents. I wear No 19 for tough days and Rue Cambon when I want to be more approachable. In fact, I think I should wear it tomorrow, as I’m chairing a press event.
We have unexpectedly gorgeous weather today – 75F, sunny and breezy (it was supposed to be pouring rain today). The CEO is making hay again today, and this is the last day Bookworm has at home before summer session at college. Cuir de Lancome it is.
I love the smell of hay. We went through some Amish country during a road trip this past weekend, and they and other farmers were also making hay. A nice change in odors from the other brown stuff that was being spread around. ๐ There’s no farm fields up where I live, but I’m lucky that this particular woodland fern – called hay scented fern – smells like hay. Go figure. I love that sweet green smell.
I haven’t smelled that in soooo long. Delicious.
So nice to have choices so I went with Byredo Green, though I did contemplate Freschiiissimo (I really do like it even with wearing it for more than a week straight)
I was wondering how you felt about it now…
Can’t argue with that!
Yay!! Green is good (and not in the Michael Douglas movie near miss quote way ๐ ) I’m so glad you have your things, and can unpack, start to settle into your new home. Be well up there!
Wearing Cristalle today- I love it so much! =)
Cristalle is just so perfect.
Scent twins!
Sampling Dior Feve Delicieuse, which is a dryish vanilla/tonka. I don’t get much of the listed hay from dabbing from a vial and it dries down to a dryish powdery vanilla musk after about ninety minutes.
I’m trying out Lush Smugglers Soul in the solid format today. I do like it so far. Also, their new copperhead solid shampoo is amazing. I’ve been using it for three weeks now. I find that it really adds shine and softness to my hair. It soothes my scalp too but most importantly of all, it smells like a vetiver mocha.
Interesting!!!
I love their Big shampoo for body and its scent, but yours sounds very interesting.
I don’t like solid shampoos, as a rule, but the smell of this sounds amazing.
OJ Ta’if today. I just drained the sample. It’s lovely, but to my nose smells exactly like OJ Woman without the lovely pine-y/hemlock-y note. So it really suffers in comparison to Woman, because I love that note, and that’s what makes the perfume for me. Happy to have tried a sample, but sure don’t need a bottle considering I have a bottle of Woman.
It’s annoying how similar the OJs are. I have Champaca and sometimes wish I had Taif, but they are too similar to have both. Maybe I should have bought Taif, but I’d probably be thinking the reverse if I had.
Mmmmmm . . . The creamy white blossoms of the honey locust trees have finally opened, perfuming the air alongside the last of my lilacs. SOTD is Alfred Sung Sha, its soft floral bouquet highlighted by lilac, a perfect complement (and compliment!) to a beautiful sunny day here.
Sampling MCMC Maui, not my thing. But it suits the mood and that counts for more than I’d have thought.
P.S. I’ve still got items available on the Freebie Meet thread, if anyone wants to make their way back on over there.
DSH Oeillets Rouges. Lovely carnations!
Have been so busy that forgot to put anything on in the morning and didn’t have time to think about it until 6PM. I have now applied a generous dose of L’Ombre dans l’Eau EdP to make the work more bearable.
Still sporting Zelda, which I applied last night after my shower. Wonderful stuff ๐
Switched over my perfumes from cold weather to warm over the weekend, that was a fun project.
Wearing JLo Still, as my nose is recovering from my head cold and is being less sensitized. Love this cheap thrill, makes me think of summer.
Wearing Eau de Joy today, it’s in the rose phase and I’m waiting for the jasmine.
SOTD is Terracotta which lasts an amazingly long time. Very nice scent.. Wouldn’t mind a FB if given to me :/
If you are interested in a FB swap, let me know. Taiga101 in the land of yahoo dawt com ๐
In Geranium & Verbena from J. Malone again. Apparently its my to go to when I want a fresh but ‘I mean business’ kind of feeling.
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP
Working from home today due to an early morning (phone) meeting. In a confined space, I subscribe to the “one dab will do ‘ya” techinque and since I don’t dab, I did one spray and I know it will last me through the end of the day and if not, I will re-spritz.
You (and others here) make me want to try this in various formulae. I’ve spritzed the current EdT and now have some modern extrait to try. Now I need to seek EdP…then there’s the whole vintage/current debate. I’ve liked them both. The green, crisp citrus part seems to be my favorite. What’s your favorite part? The vetiver? The galbanum? The whole shebang? ๐ You smell mahvelous (and properly girded) for your meeting. Be well!
Ooooh, email me…i’ll send you a sample of the EDP but don’t blame me if you end up with a FB ๐
You are beyond kind! That was not me cadging for a sample from you, I promise. Maybe we can swap someday. I really respect your taste in fragrance, and we certainly share a love of Sous le toit de Paris ๐
Love 19 EDP, and it does last a full day and then some, doesn’t it. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! ๐
Had a spritz of Trefle Pur this morning – it will need some backup by this afternoon.
Eau Premiere today. I could wear this for days. I like having freedom to pick other things, but this is so pleasing.
I just “discovered” this and love it! You smell great ๐
Wearing CSP Vanille MOkha from my bottle that just arrived yesterday! I had been thinking about it for awhile, but it is discontinued and supplies on ebay were dwindling, so finally pulled the trigger! I only had a decant before and the bottle is much more coffee-ish. Hope it will keep me awake today!
I’ve been testing samples. The only one that has worked for me so far is Miller Harris Geranium Bourbon. I love what Tom had to say about it on Perfume Smellin’ Things:
“Luckyscent describes it as an English garden after the rain. What they leave out is that there’s a hunky gardener in there who’s had a slug of Jack Daniels or two and a quick Lucky Strike and is interested in some serious Lady Chatterly action.”
I find it mainly rosy with interesting undercurrents.
Oh, that is good copy. Depending on how interesting your undercurrents are, you might even agree with Tom….
Apparently, the name is a type of rose geranium grown on the island of Reunion to produce an essential oil often used in soaps. This creates a sort of shaving soap effect. Definitely a clean-shaven gardener from an era when clean meant honest soap and water rather than laundry musk, dryer sheets or sport colognes.
Sadly, it looks like they don’t make it anymore, but there is some on Amazon and ebay.
I have a bottle which I only sprayed once. I find it has a bitter herbal edge that I just can’t get past. I was looking for something that smelled more like the leaves on my potted geraniums. To be completely honest, I think I was more in love with the bottle than the scent inside. Very silly since I keep my perfumes in their boxes.
My scent of the day is Jolie Madame which I am in love with.
You smell wonderful. ๐
:). thanks!
Yes, I think that tips it toward the masculine side of unisex. Love those bottles, but I keep mine in the boxes, too.
I bought GB when I first fell down the rabbit hole. Hopefully, I learned my lesson! ๐
No offense meant to anyone who truely likes this scent! It have seen some good reviews for GB. Victoria At BDJ gave it a nice mention.
Ugh! Another day of thunderstorms, hail, flooding, etc… in the Houston area. The rain has stopped for now, but is predicted to start again later this afternoon. Also, we were told to expect more for the next week! ๐
My SOTD is Chloe. I get so many compliments on this one when I wear it. This will end up being a staple for me. I will always have a bottle on hand!
Stay safe!
Wearing Amoreuse (did I spell it right?) for the first time and finding it lovely. I’m in the humid belt, but no rain, and the scent is light and sweet and lasting. Perfect for today. Amoureuse?
The second ๐
Merciโบ๏ธ
Today, it’s hot and humid and I am wearing Jicky EDP.
I’ve been loving PHI in this humid weather. Profuse sweating sort of diffuses it a bit on me and makes it more of a gentle citrus watercolor rose. It’s there but it’s not there. In Winter, it’s much sharper on me. This one seems to be a temperature and skin chemistry chameleon.
I’m so excited to try this now! I just assumed that PHI would be too much in the heat
Nope, I think it is unpredictable. Instead of amplifying, it becomes a sort of of sheer scent halo on me, which is lovely in the warm weather. When you try it, let us know if you like what it does in the heat.
That’s good to know. It does seem a bit sharp in winter.
Suggesting all kinds of fun experimentation!
I’m also wearing a tea fragrance today — Osmanthe Yunnan by Hermes. It’s been rather rainy and sticky over here, and this is a nice pick-me-up…
Oh, so beautiful. I wish it had a mite more staying power though.
I went with Iris Poudre today. For some reason it wasn’t sitting right with me this morning, but it’s better now.
And thankfully it’s not raining right now, like it was when I woke up this morning.
Chanel no 22, for a not-quite-summer-yet kind of day.
SOTD: Prada LโEau Ambree. This one is light and lovely, but my skin eats this right up! And the atomizer has stopped working, so I’ve resorted to dabbing. Enjoying it while it lasts….
Jardins d’Ecrivains George. I can’t pick out the coffee but I definitely get tobacco, heliotrope, and beeswax.
sounds like a nice trio
Like that one!
SOTD was Samsara Shine. Sometimes a fruity floral is just what I want…
Today was warmish and very humid, with some thundershowers in the evening. I broke out the Herba Fresca for the first time this year and it hit the spot.
