Italian niche line O'Driù has launched Ven, Det and Ta, a new trio of fragrances.
Ever the provocateur, Angelo Orazio Pregoni is no longer content simply to disrupt the staid trappings of niche perfume one inspired release at a time- he's now looking to disrupt the whole industry. That's the inspiration behind the VenDetTa project, which found Pregoni collaborating with sculptor/artist Marco Ventura (who gives the bottles their unique, individually hand crafted industrial fixtures) to create three fragrances, each able to stand completely on its own, that can also combine to create a complex, singular fragrance inspired by the tumultuous emotional journey of an act of vengeance.
Ven (shown just above) ~ "... intensely sweet and tart cherry notes, boozy rum laced with cumin, carnally animalic castoreum." Additional notes include vanilla, ylang ylang, tonka bean, sandalwood, pineapple, geranium and cumin.
Det ~ "...the heat of revenge begins to gradually build in shades of red fruits and spicy tobacco, growing increasingly sweet as the need for retribution crystallizes." Additional notes include peanuts, woods, white flowers, benzoin and basil.
Ta ~ "Sweet strawberry and mouthwatering melon curl around staid cedar and cunning oakmoss and laurel." Additional notes include tuberose.
O'Driù Ven, Det and Ta can be found now at Luckyscent, in 50 ml Eau de Parfum for $200 each.

Cunning oakmoss! My favourite kind of oakmoss. But these sound like a riot; must sample.
The whole brand sounds like a riot — you might need a sample set.
Not sure if those bottles are an Islamophobic parody, or whether they are a parody of Islamophobia – especially with the retribution theme.
I’ve been bingewatching Daredevil on Netflix, so the first thing that struck me is how much they look like capes. And then I wondered what Edna Mode would say? (dated reference, I know…)
NO CAPES!!
Hm, I actually thought these were capes, too. Even the word “vendetta” seemed like comic book language. Now I can’t unsee your interpretation, though, and it’s pretty disconcerting.
I thought the one on the right looked kind of like a sundress, but then thought “Batman with a graffitti cape.”
I don’t know what to make of this brand. On the one hand, I think they might be laughing to themselves, saying, “I can’t believe people will buy something they need to pee in” (Peety) and then this bunch, with the crazy fruity notes and the wacky packaging. On the other hand, they do seem to have quite a sense of humor, and many perfume houses seem to take themselves oh-so-seriously.
I don’t know. Did you read the Fragrantica interview with Angelo Orazio Pregoni? I’m not totally sure which side of the humor/absurdity line things fall on.
Having just looked at that interview they seem themselves too pretentious to really have an interest in puncturing the pretensions of others… Or perhaps it IS the pretentious who are most likely to accuse others of being pretentious…which would now make me the most pretentious…
Yip, I dug that hole all for myself :p
Sorry! They did look like keffiyehs to me, but yeah, the idea of capes is less worrying 😀
What’s even more disconcerting to me is how people read into things so much and come up with such bizarre takeaways. I would’ve never in a million years looked at these bottles and drawn the same conclusions as some previous commenters. It’s almost like any type of thinking outside the box is immediately interpreted in the worst possible way. Sad. Please don’t condemn originality in an industry so infatuated with cliches and normalcy.
Certainly, people should keep their “out of the box” interpretations to themselves 😉
I dunno, isnt the point of being edgy to to spark discussion? Part of that discussion often centers around sharing what the edgy/new makes you feel or relate to.
I saw Batman ears and a cape – ish thing since it is my closest cultural reference.Pretty mainstream, non threatening reaction, but i could see being cautiously curious if it sparked a more personal reference. Eh, that’s art. Opens discussions like this one 🙂
At $200/50 oz, the sample set sounds like best option anyway – i wonder if that has any fancy packaging.
Agree.
(I don’t really think industry becomes more innovative when only positive responses are allowed.)
I’m in for the Ven-Det part at least! Those sound really interesting, and cherry and tobacco are two of my favorite perfume notes! It would be great to try them layered or seperately. And at $600 for the trio of 150ml…not bad pricing in my opinion!Lol.The caps do look like weapons that can be used in conjunction to an olfactory VenDetTa!!:-))
I saw keffiyahs too. The whole marketing approach of this brand and the weird perfumer puts me off so I won’t be sampling these, plus $200 for 50ml sounds really expensive to me.
You know, you can get quite a supply of flankers out of reducing perfume names to the individual syllables.
