Posted by Robin on 14 January 2015 13 Comments

Annick Goutal L'Ile au Thé

Annick Goutal will launch L'Ile au Thé, a new unisex fragrance inspired by a trip to the island of Jeju, off the coast of South Korea.

L'Ile au Thé was developed by perfumer Isabelle Doyen; notes include mandarin, citrus, osmanthus, tea and white musk.

Annick Goutal L'Ile au Thé will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in a matching candle.

Hope it is not too clean and white-musky-y, but an osmanthus tea does sound perfect otherwise!

I love osmanthus. I hope this one turns out well – it has the potential to be an enjoyable summer fragrance!

Sounds pretty. Bet it would be fleeting, though.

On my list to look out for in House of Fraser, Glasgow when I’m there at the end of the month. I know I moan about lack of decent fragrance shopping in Aberdeen (where I live, the so-called ‘oil capital of Europe’!) but even in Glasgow there’s really only HoF for anything other than ‘high street’ type perfumes – no actual independent, stand-alone options for anything vaguely different.

Call me curious. I’m always curious about a new Goutal, and citrus osmanthus tea sounds good a well.

I like osmanthus with a lighter touch, so I think the Goutal style fits it well, and I’ll have to seek it out!

My late grandmother hailed from Jeju island and I have always longed to go there (now I hope to take my son and husband, both who’ve yet to visit Korea). My interest in Jeju was so great that I almost went to grad school in order to get my PhD in linguistics, with a focus on the dialect spoken on Jeju… I feel as though I MUST get this perfume! On top of that, the notes just sound lovely. I feel strangely giddy about this (I’ve never felt giddy about a perfume). It just seems so… me. Then again, I’d hate to get it and be really disappointed in the way it smelled, because I’d feel like I had to keep the bottle just for sympathetic reasons.

It sounds interesting, but wonder what kind of tea it is. Green can be a bit boring, but still. I hope for black tea. Lapsang!
