Happy Friday, and happy Boxing Day! Our community project today: wear a perfume you received as a present, or have given as a present, or that you wish someone would give you as a present.
As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you're not participating in the community project.
I do not give many perfume presents, but I'm wearing vintage Jean Patou Joy extrait. I gave my mother a bottle (not vintage, though) a few years ago.
Reminder: Friday 1/2 is Go Big or Go Home Friday! You can interpret that howsoever you please.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello from Norway! (I am from Colorado, but we are visiting relatives for the holidays.) so cold today. I would buy a bottle of Tea for Two right now, if I could. But if someone would like to give it to me, that would be great, too!
Oops, sorry, I read too quickly. I didn’t bring enough perfume with me on our trip and I am tired of wearing the Obsession Sheer decant that I did bring, so I guess my answer above is what I would like to be wearing!
Hey, that works! And enjoy your trip, that sounds lovely.
I actually forgot it was Friday today, but as it turns out, since i tried Boudicca by Wode a few weeks ago ive been craving it, and ended up buying a bottle for moi today, so wore present to self 🙂 it’s not a very friendly fragrance, but i find its tarry darkness totally captivating.
Rather Wode by Boudicca…
Either way. I was surprised by how much I like this one!
Oh, nice gift! I would take a bottle of Wode 🙂
Wearing Jasmine Grandiflorum from CB I Hate Perfume today.
Yum!
I’m wearing Le Maroc pour Elle by Tauer. It’s the only bottle in my collection that was given to me. I very seldom give perfume as a present as you can so easily get it wrong. I may give my sister perfume for her birthday though. Have a great Boxing Day to everyone celebrating.
I really only give it as a present if I’m pretty darned sure someone wants it.
That is my reasoning also, though I did give my sister Bvlgari Black once which she hadn’t asked for, but had sniffed at my place once and liked. It was a big success, fortunately. Mind you her favourite out of my collection is Hiris.
We’re still doing Christmassy stuff, so the SOTD is Alahine again. It was a (requested) gift to me from The CEO five years ago, and it’s not only one of the very few orientals I really like, it has been my Christmas scent since I got that bottle… right after I fell for the sample.
I gave only a few scented gifts this year, and no perfume except the small sample of Laurence Dumont Vanille Bourbon I stuck in my 14-yo niece’s gift bag. My SIL got a pretty scented-wax burner painted with a Nativity scene, along with a few cubes of scented wax. I think she liked it, though time will tell.
We do our last day tomorrow, with my husband’s family. Then done, and I go on a mini diet 🙂
Wearing Safran Troublant from a decant Hajusuuri gave me the first time we met in person
Oh, that’s sweet!
SOTD is FM Musc Ravageur which I WISH had been gifted to me, but alas, I coughed up the change (a LOT of change!) myself and don’t regret it a bit. This is just a wonderful warm spice-basket of goodness on me and there are not too many days here in Florida that I can wear it comfortably, but today happens to be one of those days and I had to take advantage.
I’m still ruminating on my New Year’s Resolution and I am considering no more BB or FB for the first 6 months of 2015 NO MATTER HOW TEMPTED I am. I did some damage the last half of 2014 and I need to cool my jets, which is a big fat bummer 🙁
Hope everyone has a stellar holiday, whichever one you may celebrate and wishing all a happy and healthy New Year!
Oh, Deva, that sounds like an awfully difficult resolution to follow! I’ve never gone “cold turkey,” but I *have* been successful with limits like “only one bottle a month” or “up to $100 a month, etc. Good luck to you, whatever you try!
Be sure to revel in the pretties you’ve recently acquired–it’s sure to make whatever perfume diet you go on more tolerable!
Don’t beat yourself up! I understand needing to put on the brakes in this fascinating hobby. I’ve gone on what I call perfume moratoriums for 3-4 months at a time, no decants, no FB, no perfume spending. I try to connect with the stuff I have (which is LOTS) and work through my sample bins.
I’ll confess that when I’m really needing to step away, I’ve stepped away from the blogs. Somehow reading about it makes me want more, new, BIGGER, experiences…and that’s not how I want to feel 🙂 I love the perfume community, love reading about your MR today (you smell amazing!), and feeling connected to others who enjoy fragrance as I do. Be well (and be kind to yourself).
Good advice. I occasionally self impose buying bans just because, seems healthy to exercise restraint sometimes. That forces me to focus on enjoying what I have a brings a little clarity to thinking about future items I might be interested in.
It can be sort of fun to set a quarterly limit, but not let yourself buy til the quarter is over. Forces you to really test things and make serious decisions about what you want and will use, instead of buying just because you like something, but at the same time, knowing you have bottles coming can help keep you from feeling deprived.
That would have to be the way to do it. I get too sucked in by things I think won’t be available at as good a price later. (They almost always are. But it’s the times that they’re not that kill me.)
I’m going on a spending freeze on perfumes, lipsticks, and nail polish. Oh, and tea. It’s just out of control and I need to make a serious dent in what I already own.
Glad to hear someone else has a tea problem.
I went cold-turkey for a year. It really wasn’t hard; I’d hear about something wonderful and then realize I had 4 bottles of things very like it already. 😉
Wearing a couple of spritzes of Séville à l’Aube from a bottle that the cats got for me 😉
I’m also getting a Magnolia Nobile gift set from my mother, but it’s not here yet. I think I will be all set for summery florals with these two.
Cats have impeccable taste in perfume! 😉 I’ve been wearing Séville à l’Aube in winter, too. It’s one of those rare chameleon perfumes that seems wonderful almost any time.
My cats *cough*MIL*cough* got me a lovely sandalwood candle this year 🙂
SOTD is Malle Dan Tes Bras.
My loving man bought me some Annick Goutal Grand Amour for christmas, one of my all time favorite fragrances…only problem- I think its a fake. He bought it off ebay from a retailer in Florida. The packaging looks fine but the smell is off…
I’m so sorry to hear about your Grand Amour gift from eBay. That is disappointing, and doubly tough to react because it was a gift. Stories like yours have scared me off buying from eBay. I hope your next experiences in FB go much better.
Dan Tes Bras fascinates me, and is on my short list of scents to buy before FM scents change under the new regime. You smell mysterious! Be well.
FWIW, word on the street is that Malle says if a scent would significantly change formulation, then he would rather pull it from production than do a disservice to the original. (This is from Tracy at The Perfume House who spoke with the man himself when they discussed distribution at Our Lady, to begin next month some time.)
Good to know! My question is, how much control will Mr. Malle have now? It will be interesting to see. I just don’t want to miss something like DTB that I’ve been flirting with purchase for years…
Tracy made it sound like he was still going to be directly involved. Doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t buy that bottle of DTB, though. What if it’s one of the ones that they can’t continue to produce to his standards? Might need to reassure yourself that you have a proper stockpile. 🙂
Right, but what he calls a major change and what I call a major change may be different. I stocked up on DTB just in case. I am set for years now. 🙂
Thank you, Hemlock!
If it’s in the older style bottle it’s probably old and gone off – I know a few ogbthe AG scents don’t have great shelf life. However, if it’s in the new style bottle it may well be a fake. They’ve only been in circulation maybe a year, so unless it was stored in extreme heat and light, I’d be surprised if it smelled off out of the box.
It is a 50 ml circular ribbed bottle. I compared it side by to my older bottle and the packaging looks identical, but again the smell is off- and I found the ebay company online and they had a few bad reviews claiming they’d sold fakes.
Of course I want my BF to only know that he was thoughtful and considerate so I mentioned none of this to him.
I bet it has gone off.
AG is notorious for their ‘fumes going off rapidly.
The only scent I’ve ever owned that has turned was the pale blue butterfly bottle of Petite Cherie.
Serves me right for buying a scent with a pear note!!!!!
( JK – LOL – YMMV ) 🙂
SO is coming home today and I’m thrilled! We’re having our Christmas together tonight and I’m anticipating a bottle of Black Cashmere, so I’m wearing my sample this morning.
I hope everyone who celebrates it had a very merry Christmas!
Mmmm, Black Cashmere!
I wish someone would get me a bottle of Bois des Iles parfum but that’s not ever going to happen so I will just have to keep buying my own. I forgot about today’s theme so I am wearing Mona di Orio Tubereuse, which this morning is smelling like peppery celery on me. It’s not the effect I wanted so I may change to BdI later.
There should be a dedicated Bois des Iles Santa specialized in fulfilling Bois des Iles gift wishes. It would be a full-time job. 😉
LOL — so true!
Count me in!
I do not have any “proper” perfume presents, like a bottle of perfume given to me by a friend or family member.
However, I often receive freebies with my decant purchases. One seller very generously sent me a little of this rarity – L’Artisan Parfumeur’s Riviera Palace. I am wearing it today.
According to Fragrantica, it contains only woody notes and moss and is a woody aromatic fragrance. But it smells more like a classical chypre to me. It made me think of Miss Dior Originale and Diorama. I have not fallen in love with Riviera Palace, but I enjoy wearing it today and appreciate this gift.
Speaking of rarity, I don’t think I’d even ever heard of it!
Fascinating, I had never heard of Riviera Palace.
I had not heard of it either, until I received it. And googling does not give much information about it. An obscure perfume of a famous house – I do like surprises like that.
I have a bottle of it, it is lovely!
I wore Scent of Hope yesterday, which I wish someone would give me, and today I am wearing Infusion d’Iris, to compare the impact. Scent of Hope has grown on me, and Infusion d’Iris becomes more pedestrian in contrast, although I thought it was splendid when I first got it. So I wish I was wearing today, what I wore yesterday. Tomorrow I will wear VC&A Bois d’Iris, for another comparison point. I used to like Infusion d’Iris better than the VCA Iris, but now I don’t know how I will feel about them tomorrow….but Scent of Hope was perfect for dinner at my mother-in-law’s house, where there has been much sickeness, but everyone was feeling pretty chipper for the holiday Meal. And a Meal it was, with prime rib and all the fixing’s, including homemade mince meat pie…
I love Scent of Hope, too – it’s the real thing!
Yes, it is wonderful, and I have been thinking about it all day today. I might have to break down and give myself a small bottle…
If you have carefully compared it to other great irises, and thought about it, you should go for it if Scent of Hope is the special one. It’s not as if it would be a impulse purchase.
I’ve never found Infusion d’Iris very impressive, but I’m one of the ones who are probably not smelling it properly. I find it very shortlived.
It was also good to find something that I liked so much from an indie perfumer and help support a good cause.
I’m still commando this morning, but whenever I get around to sprucing myself up for the day, this is an easy project for me to participate in–Mr. Spicebomb has given me two lovely scents over the past two birthdays, OJ Ta’if and PHI. Either would be lovely and right for the day, I’m sure! 🙂
Great gifts!
Yeah. He takes hints well!
I haven’t chosen a scent yet today. The wind has switched and it’s warm and muggy out 🙁 and I have a ton of plants in the van from last night’s trip to the old house that need to be unpacked. Lots of stickery stuff this time so I was hoping to be able to comfortably wear long sleeves. First, I have to find the drill and bits so I can put up some hooks for the hanging stuff which is on top. I also have to sniff out that poor little terrified gecko that I saw in the car last night and rescue him. Hope I haven’t rehomed too many critters into the van as it’s a rental.
I didn’t get a chance to post on the Holiday thread but Happy Holidays to all! I enjoyed my traditional Mitsouko Perfume for Christmas Eve and Decided on Wit for Christmas Day. I didn’t manage to find appropriate clothing nor get any makeup on but I smelled great.
If I had my perfumes unpacked I would participate today by wearing Love and Tears which my Mom got me last year but I think I’ll grab out of the unsampled pile instead. I know I have Wode someplace, maybe I’ll jump on perthgirl’s bandwagon and give it a try.
Moving in muggy weather is annoying – it sounds like you are well organized, though, with samples on hand. 🙂
Poor gecko! Hope you find it.
Found him! Also rescued a stick insect, some spiders, and several lacewings. Discovered that there is a rabbit warren under the shed too, so a critter filled day.
Nice!
I gave my sister Dahlia Noir for Christmas because she loves. I also bought her a Sephora discovery set, so she could find another fragrance she likes. My SOTD is Alien, because that is what I brought.
A discovery set is a great gift, in addition to something you know she loves. It will be interesting to see if she finds new perfume ideas in the set.
Of course I got the idea from one of the lovely NST commentators. Thank you all for all the great advice.
I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas! I’m wearing Ormonde Jayne Orris Noir, from the discovery set I received as a gift from my husband. So far I’m not getting much orris from it, but it feels like a good Christmassy scent with the myhrr and woodiness in the base. Yesterday I sprayed another oriental from the set: Tolu, which was love at first sniff – warm, ambery and resinous, but with another layer of complexity that reminded me a little of Ambre Sultan. I am so looking forward to sampling the rest of the set! As you can tell, I’m very happy with my gift 🙂 Hope you’ve all unwrapped the scented presents you wished for!
Oh, that set is such fun to explore! I know that the OJ scents aren’t for everyone, but if you like the style, there’s lots to love there!
Well, first impressions have definitely been favorable! It’s the gift that keeps on giving!
Splashed on some Jardin sur le Nil this morning already, otherwise I would have put on some Dia, which was treated like a casual pass-along to me, but I consider it a Gift.
Congratulations on Dia – definitely a Gift with a capital G!
SOTD is Le Labo Bergamont, which was a birthday present. I’m working from home today, hopefully this will help me work and not get distracted 😉
It’s hard to concentrate after a holiday – good idea for a focusing scent!
I’m wearing Caron Parfum Sacre, an old favorite that I gave to a friend for her wedding last year. A couple of months before the wedding, I loaned her eight or ten bottles of perfume to test and then got her the ones she liked best (a travel set of BK Liaisons Dangereuses and one of my backup bottles of Parfum Sacre). I especially enjoy Parfum Sacre during the dark days and holidays around winter solstice.
I’ve been wearing Parfum Sacre a lot recently too.
I sometimes ask myself if it’s just the subliminal effect of the name and packaging that makes it seem like a winter holiday perfume – it isn’t actually a heavy winter scent. But I actually think it’s something about the perfume itself.
I didn’t receive any perfume for Christmas, but I did receive several gift cards to Nordstroms and Dillards. I plan on purchasing a gift set of Knot by BV. I am still sick and too weak to go shopping, but as soon as I am strong enough to get out and about, I plan to.
Forgot to mention that I gave my family each a gift set of fragrances.
Great gifts – hope you feel better soon!
I think gift cards are the best – because then you can decide exactly what you want!! 🙂
I’m wearing Lush Karma solid perfume. When I bought it the sales girl said it was too weak and tried to sell me the perfume. I was having a kind day so I avoided telling her the solid is quite strong anough and had allready owned thw perfumre and that it was impossible to dose in moderation. I like Karma ln this form and still wonder what the mystery synthetic is. Apparently it is all natural except for one thing.
I don’t have the solid perfume; I have the lotion and I think even that’s pretty strong. Maybe the sales girl has been in the store too long and has become immune to all the scents.
Most probably yes. From their store in the southern parts of Stockholm, voted third hippest place in the world by…someone, the miasma of smells wafts for blocks.
I have to add that I participate in the challenge, but didn’t know. The solid perfume was a gift to my mother. I bought it to myself, but gave it to her when, unused, because I was too broke to buy something.
And now, from nowhere, after all the years I have worned this, I smell…chlorine!
The nose is a weird and wonderful thing.
Today I’m wearing a small dose from a new bottle of Eau des Merveilles which was a surprise gift from my children. I like it very much and am grateful for the kindnesses of the holiday season.
Now this Eau is a step in the right direction for me. I tried Eau Claire des Merveilles a few months ago. It smelled almost like there was nothing there but a shy mineral note.
Happy Boxing Day to all, and thank you to the NST community for all the fragrant fun in 2014.
Nice gift!
My sweet (and good listening) husband gave me a bottle of Juste en Reve for Christmas which is just perfect for a day like today and into tomorrow where we’re having a bit of a heat way of 50 degree temps in NYC. Smelling like the tropics but elegantly done…this scent is just so lovely.
It’s so pretty out, and perfect scent!
Wearing Sonoma Scent Studios Tabac Aurea, a present to me!
I should note: to me, from me.
The gifts from oneself are so satisfying. I hope you thanked yourself. You were very kind to yourself!
You have such exquisite taste! 😉
Oh I gifted myself with that one a while back, one of my favorites! You smell FAB!
Tobacco perfection. You smell wonderful!
I get no points today. My mom is visiting, so we’ve been playing with the Chanel Exclusifs sampler set. She ended up in Bois des Iles, and I’m wearing 31 Rue Cambon. And since we were having fun, I let the girl dab the tiniest bit of Coco Mademoisele from the mini she is fascinated about (it is a cute little bottle). So we are all in Chanel!
You must be an impressive trio!
The girl is two today, and she was so happy to finally be allowed to open that mini!
I was quite a bit older when I used to look at my mom’s perfume bottles in the bathroom cabinet. I think she had a mini of Schiaparelle Shocking at one point.
I’m wearing OJ Woman, a present from my husband and am competing with the Christmas tree for piney, woodsy fragrance!
My husband’s cousin gave me a half full bottle of Yardley Lavender from the 60’s that belonged to her mother. I was so touched by that. It still smells pretty good too.
Today I’m wearing L’air du desert marocain. I’ve been living off a decant, and my husband surprised me with a fb on Xmas morning. We’ve both been wearing it since yesterday.
What a thoughtful gift to a perfumista!
Yes! My sweet cousin in law put it in my stocking. Her mother passed away a few years ago and was a very beloved family member.
Yardley was a great house in its day, and I’ll bet that lavender is terrific. My mother wore April Violets for decades. I must say the bottle I bought of that about three years ago, after it was off the market for a few years, is great. A wonderful cool violet soliflore, very gardeny, not sweet.
I still remember Yardley Lavender from the early 70s. I had the tall cylindrical spray bottle when I was in elementary school. Besides a micro bottle of “Parfum de Paris” that was held by a styrofoam ball snowman, that was my only perfume when I was a kid. I remember the lavender smelled just like the plant, and was very intense so i just sniffed the bottle instead of spraying. The little splash bottle from my cousin in law brings back childhood memories.
I use Yardley Lily of the Valley bath soap all the time (even when I am not wearing Diorissimo!) – it is a very mild and creamy soap and smells wonderful. I haven’t smelled their lavender.
That’s a good tip regarding the soap. I’ll pick some up; I think there is a pharmacy near me which sells it. I love soap. The lavender, as Sajini says, is very true to the plant.
I’m wearing the remains of my Bois d’Armenie while I prepare food for our family Christmas, which isn’t until Sunday. I participated in a split to replenish it as a present to myself this Christmas.
Happy Boxing Day all!
Happy Boxing Day! I had so many choices – the entirety of my Christmas list (minus 1 scarf, which I am also wearing today) was candles and perfume – 1 FB and a whole slew of samples/discovery sets – there’s probably 40-50! I had NO idea what to start with, so I grabbed the Atelier sample pack and the one on top was Silver Iris, so I am wearing that right now. It’s nearly faded, so I’ll be trying something else in an hour or so too, hehe. So far I haven’t been a huge fan of the powdery lipstick/makeup smelling scents (I think usually iris & violet?), this one is pretty nice. I wasn’t in love with the opening (the most make-up smelling part), but my husband liked the opening, and the drydown is really gorgeous!
On the gifting side, I gave my sister-in-law the bottle of Donna Karen Cashmere Mist that she was lusting after, and I gave her daughter a set of miniatures with some popular designer scents. Hopefully she’ll find one she likes!
What a wonderfully fragrant Christmas, Sun Mi!
After a shower I’ll be wearing Badgley Mischka from decant I gave myself for Christmas. I wasn’t expecting to like it – I bought it in the spirit of testing the comfort zone – but I wore it on Christmas Day and loved it.
Note to my classical music radio station: as it’s the day after Boxing Day, and Christmas is over, you can stop playing Handel’s Messiah now. Yes?
Haha! No kidding. Give that messiah a rest, will ya? Same goes for all the Xmas music infested tv commercials. And cars with giant bows on top. Someone please do an ad with a big credit card in a noose on top of a car!
Oh and BMW is the bomb. You smell great!
I meant to say BM !
Thanks, yes indeed. Two tiny spritzes from a 5 ml decant vial creates quite a sillage. It’s a good thing I’m not going out for another hour or so!
Lordy, compared to cars with giant bows on top, yet another go at ‘For unto us a child is born’ seems nothing to complain about! You are right about the credit card. And on and on it goes. Yesterday was Boxing Day here, the biggest shopping day of the year in Australia. 🙁
You smell gorgeous! That big, just-fruity-enough floral is just perfect on a summer night.
I’m wearing DSH Scent of Hope, which I splurged on and gifted to myself (alas, only the 5 ml bottle) a several weeks ago. It’s a cold a snowy day here in Denver, but no matter; Scent of Hope is radiant and enveloping. I can give up every other iris scent I’ve ever owned and loved, because to me, this one is perfection.
I need to a) discipline myself to wear this more judiciously and b) save my pennies to buy the 15 ml flacon soon (and since all of the proceeds go to a worthy cause, it’s just more motivation to do so!).
Yes, it grows and grows on me. I am afraid I am spoiled for all other Iris perfumes now! I am going to spring for the 5 ml bottle as soon as the next paycheck comes in.
After Reading your description, I’d love to try that one. Off to get a sample.
Do let us know what you think of it. At first sniff, I was not impressed but I wore it three times anyway because even the samples are spendy. By the end of the second day I was looking forward to the third day!
Yeah, at first I get mostly the peach note + a *very* light, bubbly aldehyde + that slight ‘gasoline’ vibe that so many iris scents give off initially (on me, at least…and I kind of like it!), but within minutes it warms on my skin and becomes this intoxicating, plush embrace. And it lasts! I can smell it all day. I find myself wanting to wear it all the time.
The sample is spendy, no doubt, but I would urge you to get it if you can. SoH is the very definition of a quality fragrance. They just don’t make perfumes like this one anymore. You’ll get a number of uses out of that tiny sample.
I planned to wear Vert pour Madame today, as I too have very few actual gift perfumes and that is a treasure I don’t wear often enough. I haven’t put on any yet though as I am having a hard times coming to grips with getting out of bed enough to have a Day, and I just found out it is Friday, which has come as a real blow. (I have off work through next Thursday but now all the family obligations et cet. I’ve been avoiding so happily for two days start.)
I tested Casmir by Chopard this morning and once again was glad I don’t have a FB of it. Why I keep flip-flopping on that I don’t know.
I could just wear Eau Premiere; that too is a gift, a bit easier, and won’t upset my beloved who is having a tough day at work and will be home in a few hours. (He really doesn’t like perfume but Eau Premiere is one of the ones that flies under his radar…)
EP is perfect for just about any occasion. (Weirdly, that is somehow why I don’t wear it much … ). Hope the day works out.
One of the best fragrance gifts I’ve received lay hidden for a decade!
Sometime in the 90’s, my SIL gifted me with a coffret of parfum mini’s. My life was very busy at the time, I was not familiar with any of the scents (and I don’t think Internet info was available yet), so I put them on a closet shelf seldom visited and completey forgot about them for years and years. (And, obviously, I don’t clean out closets very often!) One day, searching for something, I happened upon the coffret and, by that time, was able to research the scents it contained, several to become my very favorites in the following years.
Today I’m wearing Jean Desprez Bal a Versailles. Mmmm . . . good thing I’m home today, definitely on the skanky side.
Another scent in this coffret introduced me to my love of violet scents and remains, to date, my very favorite of the violets: Balenciaga Le Dix. Love, love, love it.
Ted Lapidus Creation has become a favorite of mine to wear just as new life forms begin to emerge in my world in April.
And I do sometimes enjoy the sweet kiss of Il Bacio.
I seldom wear the other scents in this coffret – Anne Klein, Anne Klein II, Joan Collins Spectacular – but still enjoy an occasional whiff of these powerhouse scents from the 80’s.
All vintage scent delights! (I just hope I thanked my SIL properly at the time.)
Like you, I don’t go through my closets often, but a find like that might inspire me to clean them out more often! That’s some lovely stuff you’ve got there.
Occasionally on auction sites you see those sets still. I wonder how they are produced, seeing as the perfumes are from different brands? Perhaps all those brands were licensed to the same company, so it was able to produce them in sets.
Anyway, lovely closet find. And indeed it would be a tad awkward to thank your SIL for it now!
I wondered about that, too. The back of the box says, ‘Packaged by Magnifique – Miami, Florida . . . Womens Collectible Mini.’ As for my SIL, I’m sure I thanked her warmly, but had I known the treasure her gift would become, I’m sure I would have gushed a bit more! Our lives have gone in different directions and I rarely even see her now. I’m sure this was just a quick present she picked up for me and she probably wouldn’t even remember having purchased it – neither of us had ever discussed perfume at any time – but it just goes to show, the far-reaching effects of a simple gift!
I’m wearing Rien — my mom gave me a decant for Christmas. 🙂
You have a great mom! Are you enjoying it?
My parents gave me a bottle of Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger for Christmas. Yay! So I’m wearing that today. Hope everybody had a good holiday!
You smell great, and have reminded me that I want to try FdO in (relatively) cold weather. Maybe tomorrow.
My lovely husband have me a huge bottle of Byredo Encens Chembur and managed to charm the SA at Barney’s into several samples: Byredo Seven Veils, FM L’Eau d’Hiver, two from Diptique (can’t recall what at the moment) and L’Artisan Amour Noctourne. I also received a small bottle of Lush Rose Jam from myself; just to see what all the fuss was about. Enjoying that, too!
Gave me. I cannot understand why the phone keeps changing that!
Clever husband – great samples!
I’m wearing Fille en Aiguilles from a sample I received from a kind sample fairy last Spring and that I wish someone would give me in FB. Appropriate for the Christmas party I had today!
I started the day in Mancera Gold Intensitive Aoud, a gift from my husband. Have now switched to Rêve d’Ossian for bed.
Wearing Hermes Elixir de Merveilles, from a mini I got in my stocking. I like all the Merveilles scents, but really love the bottles. I get very little sweetness from the Elixir. It’s like salty, unsweetened chocolate with orange peel.
I didn’t think about the FreebieMeet perfumes being gifts–I had more choices than I thought.
Forgot to add, I am very excited about Go Big or Go Home Friday! Not sure what I’ll be doing, but I will smell awesome!
That does sound like fun! Amouage Gold comes to mind, but there are many possibilities, aren’t there? 🙂
