It's Tuesday, and it's Chet Baker's birthday. What perfume are you wearing?
I'm wearing Cacharel Anaïs Anaïs, in a relatively modern (it's probably 5 years old or so) version of the Eau de Toilette.
Reminder: on Friday 12/26, for Boxing Day, wear a perfume you received as a present, or have given as a present, or that you wish someone would give you as a present.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
For anyone who has an extra few minutes to spare today, here's Chet Baker singing one of my absolute favorites, My Buddy.

Happy Day Before the Day Before Christmas, to all who celebrate 🙂
I chose CK Reveal for today. This is one of Soon-To-Be-Mr. Nebbe’s favorites on me, and i love it too.
I have a bunch of last minute purchases to make, and not sure what most of them will be. But! I just realized that I can shop after lunch, and that my lunch will be in perfect shopping spot. Win!
Hope you have great gift hunting! I was out there last night for the last 2-3 on my lists. It was busy, but not too bad. Go get ’em! Be well 🙂
Thanks! Got most of my list completed, now for those last dingleberries…..
“Dingleberries” – I have seriousove for that word 😉
Ooops! That supposed to to “serious love”
Vanille Absolument by L’Artisan today. Rum soaked vanilla pods drizzled with melted chocolate. Mmm.
Yum…and that made me hungry!
BobH, how much do you love that l’Artisan? It was a a blind buy for me that didn’t work. If you’re interested you can e-mail me at taiga101 at yahoo dot com.
Happy Holidays!
Continuing my run with Blackberry & Bay. Gonna be cheerful and sunny or die trying 😉
LOL…that’s the spirit!
There you go. 🙂
I’m in Beyond Love which I shouldn’t like as I don’t like the By Kilian packaging but I love it.
Like that one, too, somewhat surprisingly, as I’m not a big tuberose fan. (Also never going to buy a By Kilian bottle either – though I like the travel sets and the plain re-fill bottles for a comparative bargain.)
That was one of the first tuberose perfumes I really fell in love with. Now I almost never wear it (I wear Sweet Redemption much more often) but I was so taken with the coconut in it.
These days the refills are actually a lot cheaper than other niche fragrances. I love this one and A Taste of Heaven, which I’m guessing you quite like as well.
Been craving rose and musk recently, so I’m wearing SSS Rose Musc. It’s very pretty, but I’d like more musk… or a more musk-sensitive nose.
Maybe layer it with something?
I need to keep my eye out for the perfect layering musk, because once I find it, I have a feeling it’s going *everywhere*
Have you tried Kiehl’s musk? It’s pretty straightforward and a bit skanky, but I think it would be good for layering.
Commando today
I am a mom as of 12/8, so I will ease into my perfume collection.
Have a great holiday ahead
Ahhh, congratulations!! So happy. Hope you and bebe are both doing well!
Congratulations, you have much better things to do than smell perfume!
Smelling babyscalps, perhaps, beating even puppy paws from all accounts. Congratulations, Lovestosmellgood!
Congratulations and blessings
Oh, baby smell — who needs perfume? Congratulations.
How wonderful! Hope you are all doing well and are enjoying every moment. 🙂
Congrats! Enjoy that baby head smell, too (that’s one of my favorite memories of being a new mommy).
Congratulations! What a joy! If I may say so, just keep in mind that 1) You WILL sleep again, pretty soon; and 2) you’ll be able to handle everything. We all can. 🙂 Relax and enjoy!
Congrats on your new baby!
Congratulations and enjoy that newborn phase.
Congratulations! And who cares about perfume–you have an unlimited supply of baby head smell! Go forth and sniff your baby. 🙂
MdO’s Tubereuse over remnants of Carnal Flower from last night. It’s in the 70s here, and I hadn’t worn either in too long. Neither feels very holiday themed, but I’m hanging out in the hospital with my grandma, so a tiny bit of BWF is cheerful.
Hope all of you who celebrate Christmas have a wonderful holiday and those of you celebrating Hanukkah are having a bright holiday as well 😀
Jealous of the 70s, and do hope your grandmother is better soon!
Best wishes for healing for your grandmother.
Sending postitive vibes to your grandmother …
SOTD is Ambre 114. I think I need a FB of this one.
I love Ambre 114. It was one of the Olfactif samples from a month or so ago and I used my discount code to buy a bottle. They were out of the smaller size and sent me the larger one at no upcharge! Fantastic customer service!
Wow, that is some amazing customer service!
NO WAY! Awesome!!
Wow – that is something that doesn’t happen often at all
One of my favourite ambers!
Ambre 114 is great.
Wearing Patchouli 24, after sniffing it on someone else yesterday.
Mmm.. i kinda wish it were cold right now just to put that on…
I am wearing a sample of Coromandel
How patchouli does it get on you?
You smell wonderful!
Soivohle Centennial for me today. Such a great scent
SOTD By Killian Amber Aoud, which I like quite a bit in small doses. Laid some Lily of the Valley essential oil on top of it. LOTV is my go to scent…
Another good amber, imo.
Or oud.
It goes back and forth on me.6 hours later it is mainly amber. I like it.
Urban Decay’s Sin for me – I bought a few bottles when it was discontinued so I have a stash that I wear sparingly. Mr. Poppy loves it and luckily a little dab goes a long way.
I forgot about that stuff, but I have one of those tiny bottles of oil from years ago floating around somewhere. I’ll have to check that one out again this evening, ’cause I remember liking it.
Songes today, though once i got outside i realised i shouldve chosen something a bit fresher and more cooling..
Tonight is AdP Colonia Oud. Wish i had a man who smelled like this! I even just wish i could smell men who smell like this! I love this stuff. I know you’re all oud-haters an’ all, but this is Acqua di Parma! 😉 Its like George Clooney Italian summer in the villa by the lake oud.
Your Colonia could be the perfume version of “Field of Dreams”: Spray it and they will come 😉
LOL!
It’s *probably* against the law to randomly spritz men with cologne, no matter how much nicer they would smell. It’s the only thing keeping me from arming myself with a bottle of L’Instant Pour Homme and lurking in the local Starbucks or bookstore.
LOL! Thanks for the great mental image! I picture you sneaking behind bookshelves with a bottle…!
LOL love the image. 🙂
LOL! In my opinion, there’s nothing better than a great-smelling man! Next to a great smile, it’s one of the first things I notice about a man.
LOL! Men tend to discount the seductive power of repeated showering with a good soap and matching aftershave. They harbor the fantasy that inside every modern woman lurks a cave girl yearning to swoon at their manly odors. It takes repeated demonstrations before most of them really believe the effectiveness of alternatives. Such odd creatures.
Nothing so far today, but there is a trace of something gorgeous wafting off my fleece pullover. Could it be extreme extreme dry down from a spray of l’elephant from two weeks ago? If ever there were a perfume that lingered for weeks, l’elephant would be it!
I’m planning to wear Amouage Lyric later today – visiting a very sniffy 91 year old gent later who wants to smell Lyric Woman. I’ve tried to get him into some high end frags – he is a sandalwood FREAK – but so far he only wants his beloved Caswell and Massey Sandalwood cologne.
I have a bottle of l’elephant but haven’t yet had the courage to try it out – it’s so massive! I’m a bit of a sandalwood freak myself – would you say that the C&M sandalwood could be unisex?
Oh yes. C&M is uni-everything.
Chet! I have been grooving on him for the past couple of weeks! Chet, if you can hear me up there, Happy Birthday!
SOTD is Bvlgaria Omnia – a very successful blind buy. Great multitasking scent and like Bvlgari Black and SL Un Bois Vanille, fits any occasion and time of year.
Hope everyone has a splendid non-stressful holiday filled with good friends and delicious food.
I have said it before but am going to say it again: Thanks for this blog! I have learned so much about the perfume world the past few years and met some wonderful generous people! The blog posts are informative and entertaining and the comments are always I interesting.
Cheers 🙂
It was your comment last week that made me look up his birthday! I’m a long time fan but would never have known.
And so glad you like the blog, of course 🙂
Scent twin!
WooHoo! High Five!
I have a minor cold — literally started feeling a tickle in my throat JUST as I was signing off work for a week-long vacation last night. I swear this happens to me every year! I still wear perfume when I’m sick though. Just put on some Flower by Kenzo — it’s strong at first but by the time I get on a plane in several hours it will be in the nice soft powdery vanilla stage, which I love.
So sorry…hope it’s short lived!
I’m WILLING it to be short-lived.
Cuir de Lancome. I sprayed too freely yesterday and it has stayed with me : )
I have been thinking of doing a BB (Blind Buy) on this one- I need to make up my mind quick because one of my New Year’s resolutions is “no more BB’s.”
I am predicting full-on failure regarding that particular resolution 😉
If for some reason it’s a failure on you it would trade in a snap.
A very good point! Is your middle name “enabler”? 😉
I’m thinking of doing the exactly same thing. It gets a lot of love.
Nuxe Le Parfum today.Together with the dry oil, which has become a part pf my daily routine! It’s soooo good!I have very sensitive skin, and easily break out from a multitude of products. The Nuxe line is awesome.Love the perfume, although longevity could be better!Happy Tuesday!
First day of my last week of vacation today and I’m still in the t-shirt I wore to bed. When I do get ready for my day I’m going to try another Possets sample, called Cadmium Red. It’s been described as a combination of roses and Red Hots, and I’m always looking for a spicy rose.
Actually, Roses and Red Hots would be a good name for a certain sort oF scent.
It would be a great name. Too bad this one promised more than it delivered. I smell neither roses or Red Hots, just a very vague soapy smell.
I am wearing SL Douce Amere today. Our snow is almost completely gone everywhere, so we may not have a white Christmas – odd for MN.
Sarrasins for today, to arm myself against the hoards of last-minute shoppers. I only have to do grocery shopping, but I expect the stores to be packed with others doing the same.
Love the picture, Robin–I wish my summer closet looked like that.
Hey, it made me want to immediately order some Cacharel shirts!
I need to do some grocery shopping today too – hope it’s not too hectic!
Brace yourselves! If it is anything like here…a total zoo. The liquor store was even worse. Glad I have it out of the way now, though. Just the fun stuff after today!
Yup I had to take a number at the local nut store. It’s really a store that sells nuts and it was.
Thanks for the tunes, never heard of him actually.
Sampling Gingembre by Lutens..not bad. Spicy and dry woods after a lemony opening.
No perfume today. Working from home and my husband will be too – he is the one with the migraines, so no scent at home for me. Just put on some Philosophy Snow Angel hand lotion, which is supposed to smell like “sweetly fallen snow.” Not sure about that, but it is a good hand lotion and it is sweet!
I needed cheerful and sunny when I woke up to grey skies and chilly temps, so I grabbed Squeeze from Lily Pulitzer. Simple and easy and a total no brainer scent…and I mean that in a good way.
I’m off for the holidays later this afternoon, so wanted to wish one and all a peaceful and happy holidays and will be back posting next year!
Everybody needs at least one no-brainer scent.
Shalimar extrait over Byredo Bal d’Afrique oil, which makes a gorgeous sweet lemon oriental.
Donna Karan Chaos (reissue). To fortify me for the grocery store melee on the way home…
Happy Holidays all!
Oh, how I loved the original Anaïs Anais. I used to wear it faithfully as a teen. Well, this is the 2nd day of my two-week vacation ( I am a school counselor and we are out for the winter break), and I am battling a bug or something. Hopefully I will feel better by Thursday.
Even though I am feeling under the weather, I still have to have a fragrance on. So, I dug into my sample box and chose Pink Vetiver by Jo Loves. I don’t know if its my cold or what, but this is a little bit too spicy and peppery for me. This is probably something my brother would like but wouldn’t wear it because of the name. Masculine scent but not a masculine name, IMO.
Wearing Lolita Lempicka. Even though it’s summer solstice here, we (almost) always have heavy and long rains during Christimas, which is sort of nice, considering all the Northern hemisphere-based dishes that we tend to cook. Maybe not so nice for those who come here to escape winter and are looking for tropical summer weather, though.
I’m wearing Orchid Noir by Note Fragrances. I got a 5ml sample in a giveaway. I feel like it’s a dupe of something, but I can’t quite put my finger on it… I want to say it’s like a toned-down Black Orchid, but I haven’t smelled Black Orchid in a long time… I also admit the name could be influencing me a bit.
Aomassai from Parfumerie Generale – it’s a really well done nutty gourmand. It’s the only one I own from PG but I would really like about 10 more of them.
I love Aomassai too.
I let my daughter and husband pick out my fragrance today… it’s Black Orchid Voile de Fleur, such a friendly white floral.
Shopping finished; wrapping not so much. Also, I have to finish crocheting (SSHHH!!) a Despicable Me Minion hat for my daughter, a soft bulky rug for my mother, and a simple roll-brim hat for my MIL. I hope to get the hats at least done by tomorrow night; the rug, which is the simplest, is almost done anyway.
So ambitious. I am exhausting just reading. (But then I don’t knit.)
MIL hat is DONE. And looks cute.
Daughter’s hat is half done. Mom’s rug is about 75% done. I will finish!!!
Le Labo Vanille 44 today. I put it on this morning, having been woken up by my child a half hour earlier than my alarm, and it was dark and kind of wet and rainy out. I thought it would cheer me up on this yucky day, but then the morning with child and day at work were both kind of awful, so the perfume hasn’t been able to help as much as I’d hoped.
Oh, Vanille 44 would be perfect. Sorry it hasn’t boosted the day as much as it should have! Some days no perfume can fix.
I am wearing Soivohle’s Amun Re-Tears of Ra, and reveling in it. I enjoyed it in the summer when I got it but on this cold rainy December day it is simply gorgeous. And really lasting – 8 hours and counting so far.
I don’t know why I thought this was too expensive to get a full bottle of. 50 ml for $160? It’s spendy but I’ve done worse. I wonder if it was the 50 ml that put me off? Or if I worry about the lifespan of a handmade perfume like this?
You smell great– I bought a travel size almost as soon as I had tried it. Soivohle is my favorite house
Today, Une Rose de Kandahar called out to me so is my SOTD/SOTE. I’m loving this more and more each time I wear it.
My first niche True Love! You smell great 🙂
Annick Goutal Nuit Etoilee, which smells very much like their wonderful Noël candle.
Yesterday was unending woods and incense, so today I needed something completely different. I chose Iris Silver Mist. It was perfect.
