Ys Uzac Sacre du Printemps ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 2 October 2014 12 Comments

Ys Uzac Sacre du Printemps

Swiss niche line Ys Uzac will launch Sacre du Printemps, a new fragrance named for Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.

...our fragrant tribute to the visionary composer Igor Stravinsky is called Sacre du Printemps, and is a savage, radiant and assertive perfume. Stravinsky composed the Sacre during his stay in Lavaux, Switzerland, and a century later, YS-UZAC celebrates this great Russian and citizen of the world composer.

The notes feature galbanum, black currant, vetiver, angelica and guaiac wood.

Ys Uzac Sacre du Printemps will be available in 100 ml Extrait du Parfum.

When I think “Rite of Spring,” I expect something jarring and uncomfortable. I’m not sure black currant comes to mind first. I’m more inclined to think of leather and civet.

I believe it is a green scent, so sounds like they went more with a general idea of spring.

Black currant smells like cat urine to some people. Cat urine is jarring and uncomfortable 🙂

Already getting burnt out on black currant listed often..I am sure there is more to come.

I am not noticing it any more than usual, but also not keeping track 🙂

I’m very fond of Ys Uzac Pohadka, an unusual combination of mint, narcissus and tobacco, so I look forward to trying this one.

I like the idea of a perfume based on Rite of Spring, though I wouldn’t imagine it as a necessarily “springy” scent, like Eleebelle said.

Pohadka smelled like a cleaning product on me (specifically Method kitchen cleaner), but I’ve tried a couple of others and liked them (can’t remember which ones off the top of my head).

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra cross posted this and started a contest based on it: https://www.facebook.com/chicagosymphony/posts/10152472529498049

The notes sound amazing to me, but I have a feeling it will just end up smelling sharp and unsettling. Pohadka also sounded great, but when I tested it, it reminded me just a bit of ashtray, plus it was gone in an hour.
Still, I’ll have to get a sample.

Will they launch it next spring?

It’s autumn now, even in Switzerland …

it smells amazing. i’m in love with this scent. but sorry to tell, price in my city is 520 EUR. i assume it’s crazy expensive; so waiting for their website to launch it for sale, will get then.
