Tauer Perfumes has launched Rose Flash, the first in a series of "flash scents".
Andy Tauer on Rose flash: "ROSE flash is the most luxurious rose that I have created so far. It is special in many ways. I look at it as a little gift from tauerville; a perfume for my rose loving friends. A stunning rose, rich, oriental, gourmand.
I want ROSE flash to be experienced as a complete scent and not picked apart into individual notes and analyzed down to its bones. Hence, I do not want to provide notes. This rose is here to share the joy and fun I had in my lab exploring rose petals."
Although Rose flash is not a limited edition, availability and sales are limited. Tauer does not guarantee that the flash series of products will always be available.
Tauer Perfumes Rose Flash is available in 10 ml Extrait de Parfum roll-on, $32. It can be purchased now at the Tauer Perfumes website, Switzerland or US sales only.
(via press release)
Argh. $32 is nothing, but I’m trying to figure out if Rose de Kandahar will be out again this year, because I’d rather just apply my $32 toward that when it’s relaunched.
Definitely curious about this one, though.
I want Rose de Kandahar too! And I wouldn’t mind having it for $32.
Hi Joe. I work with Andy on developing his fragrances here in the States and I can confirm that PHI Une Rose de Kandahar will return within the next 3-4 months. Let’s say December 1st for now, although the vagaries of manufacturing sometimes creates last minute issues. PHI was out for a short period last December/January only at tauerperfumes.com, but this new batch is destined for all USA Tauerville perfumery shops. Suggested retail $160.00.
[ed note: 1 sentence removed. Jeffrey, you are more than welcome to answer questions here but not to in any way talk up or “sell” perfume.]
This is good news. I appreciate it. (And I guess the ~$28 price hike is more or less normal these days; I can live with it if I have to.)
I still haven’t managed to try Kandahar, but any time Andy does a rose I’m interested in smelling it.
Ditto.
On the one hand, excited! I love roses, particularly Tauer roses (I adore Phi) On the other hand, this is sad news, as it won`t be shipping to Canada!
I have sent Andy Tauer a question to find out why only US & Switzerland, will update here if I find out.
Robin – it is just USA and Switzerland due to two issues: firstly the very limited number of units of Rose Flash which have been made available; and secondly because of logistics issues and governmental postal restrictions for perfume as a hazmat item. It is close to impossible these days to legally ship perfume cross borders as a “one in a box” proposition. J.
I understand the limited quantities being an issue, but if he can send the explorer sets here to Australia, then surely a single 10ml bottle would fit the same criteria? It doesn’t make sense.
ditto – i’ve ordered two explorer sets before to Canada no problem.
It is harder, logistically, to sell outside the US & Switzerland. Tauer does so anyway for most of his scents but the “flash” scents are small batch (this one is sold out or nearly sold out as of now) and so won’t be so widely available.
Sounds like I need to make a call to Our Lady to see if they will be carrying this!
Not clear to me if this is going into regular retail distribution, but will update if I find out.
Meant to say though, that I don’t think it is!
Pretty sure his email said online exclusive.
Out of four Tauer’s roses I love two (Une Rose Vermeille and Phi) and do not care for the other two (Incense Rose and Une Rose Chypree) so I’m conflicted (but tempted). What I really like is that it is available in that small format – I think that more brands should adopt that approach and I want to reward those that do by giving them my business.
Oh, this sounds fun!
I have mis-spoken. Rose Flash sold out in the USA in under one hour. In speaking with Andy I thought it would sell out very fast, but one hour must be a record. Andy has shared on his web store that is is still taking orders and trying to make up more. I am certain he is amazed, proud and just a little flabbergasted.
Rose Flash is completely sold out everywhere now… glad I was able to get a bottle. I am wearing it today and it is lovely – it started out a bit like Une Rose Vermeille, but then goes in a completely different direction, with what seems to be some woody and resiny notes. It is so interesting and unusual. Looking forward to PHI Une Rose de Kandahar on Dec. 1st!
Rose Flash is stunning… lush, rich, vibrant… and powerfully rosy. it’s the olfactory equivalent of the most beautiful rose you have ever laid eyes on… and just as it’s difficult to avert my eyes from that rose… I want to keep breathing in this fragrance. I feel very fortunate to have received Rose Flash, but also sad that others cannot experience this blessing from Tauerville.
