British perfume house Floris will launch Honey Oud and Leather Oud, two new fragrances exclusive to Harrods and celebrating the brand’s “unique position as [Harrods’] longest serving supplier”. Honey Oud and Leather Oud were developed using oud “from a certified sustainable source of agarwood”…
New research from the Monell Chemical Senses Center reveals that women's faces are rated as more attractive in the presence of pleasant odors. [...] The findings suggest that the use of scented products such as perfumes may, to some extent, alter how people perceive one another.
"Odor pleasantness and facial attractiveness integrate into one joint emotional evaluation," said lead author Janina Seubert, PhD, a cognitive neuroscientist who was a postdoctoral fellow at Monell at the time the research was conducted. "This may indicate a common site of neural processing in the brain."

Oeillet Bengale is the upcoming fragrance from West Village niche perfume boutique Aedes de Venustas. It’s their third, following 2013’s Iris Nazarena and 2012’s Aedes de Venustas Signature. If you’ve tried the first two, you probably already expected incense, and the name Bengale Oeillet, if you speak French (or even just perfume-French), probably led to you to expect carnation.
You’d be right on both counts. The press materials point out that the Bengale Oeillet is actually a rose (a variety of China rose, to be more specific), but that’s not relevant to our concerns. The Aedes Bengale Oeillet is a carnation-incense fragrance, something I never particularly thought to wish for — I’m still waiting, patiently, for my perfect jasmine + incense — but that turns out to be welcome…
Escada will launch Joyful, a new fragrance for women, this fall. Joyful is fronted by model Miranda Kerr, who says the scent “encourages positivity and confidence to see the bright part of life”…
