Care to share your scent of the day? And if you like, tell us what beverage you're drinking at the moment.
I am wearing Marni, and I'm drinking a (very fragrant) chai (with lots of pink pepper) from Terre d'Oc.
Reminder: this Friday, we'll try our first coordinated / community scent of the day. Please try to think of your favorite fragrance note (or one of them, if you can't narrow down), wear your favorite fragrance that features that note, and tell us about it! If that doesn't work for you for whatever reason, no worries, chime in anyway. The following Friday, June 6, let's all try to wear something by Chanel.
Good Morning Everyone. My SOTD is Amour Nocturne by L’Artisan. For some reason, I am addicted to it. Love the way it smells and it lasts a long time. I am normally a coffee drinker, but this morning, I just had orange juice with my breakfast.
I am sorry to say I don’t remember that one — Angie reviewed it though.
Yes, Angela did. I remember her stating that one of the notes was “gun powder”. I remember thinking that it would be bad. But, it is so unique. In a lot of ways, it reminds me of Santal Blush by Tom Ford, but Nocturne is a bit sweeter. Probably the caramel.
I find the burnt aspect of this one addictive too, but I am too grumpy with L’Artisan at the moment to give them $280 of my dollars.
I am feeling the same way. Why so much? Crazy!
The really obnoxious part is the subsequent 3 releases in the Emotions collection are only $205, suggesting that the first 3 were $280 just because they thought they could get away with it.
Today I’m wearing Mitsouko extrait, Mitsouko is the one perfume I could never do without. In a while I’m going to Pilates class (the second today 🙂 ), after that I’ll probably change to something different.
TWO pilates classes? I salute you. I will manage 1 hour of yoga and that will be enough 🙂
Right?? I feel proud of myself when I get to yoga at all, and then I hear people in the lobby chatting about the five miles they ran before class!
SOTD is Outremer (formerly L’Aromarine) Vanille EDT. It is straight-up cotton candy, and I enjoying it. It reminds me of sharing cotton candy with my husband at baseball games.
I’m drinking coffee with half and half and cinnamon in it.
I love chai and I like the image that you chose today.
Sadly, I bought that tea at least partly for the tin. Turns out I love it though, and I only like about 1/5 of the chai teas I try.
Well, you couldn’t sample the tea first, like you could with perfume, so you had to rely on the cute packaging 🙂
Ha, thanks for the handy justification!
Good morning! SOTD is Lush Silky Underwear, new to me in a trade, and I’m drinking a big bottle of water.
Yum, love that one!
I’m wearing L’AP Fleur d’Oranger 2007, because it is so joyously beautiful and I’m trying to decide if orange blossom is the note that I want to wear on Friday. Sadly, since it was a limited edition, this is one of the few bottles that I’ve made a dint in and could possibly run out of one day.
Ah yes, that awful feeling when you are getting to the half-way down point of a bottle you love. It is particularly sad when you know that you can never replace that perfume, and the temptation is not to use it – but that would be silly!
So, true, Jillie! I’m resolved to enjoy this one to the max while it lasts. The temptation to conserve is harder to resist with small bottles or decants, though.
Hmm…I think I should have spelled it “dent” and that “dint” should be reserved for “by dint of,” but some of the online dictionary definitions are less clear on that point.
Gorgeous scent. We should do a Friday SOTD on discontinued fragrances.
That would be cool. I was just thinking about some of my faves that have been discontinued.
Good topic and perhaps one that also challenges people to wear something that they haven’t worn in a while
That’s a good idea. With a designated discontinued perfume poll, those who did not want to be tantalized to distraction could just not open that poll. If they have the willpower. 😉
Fifthing — love that idea! 2 of my 3 favorite perfumes are discontinued, but I have backups so I wear them often.
One way to force us to use something before it breaks our heart by turning.
I have a bottle of the 2007 L’Artisan FdO as well and I don’t have that much left *sobs.* It will be a sad day when I finish this bottle. Does anybody know if the 2011 version or even the 2005 version of FdO smelled the same as the 2007 version?
Arpege, as I felt like some aldehydes and have not worn this till now. Forgot I was wearing it and then wondered what the nice smell was! It’s very classy and I wonder if it reminds anyone else of VC&A’s First?
It’s so chilly and wet here today that, like you Robin, I felt like a cosy cuppa and chose “Winter”, a chai type tea from an English company in Kent. It’s just perfect for warming me up.
I love when I forget I’m wearing perfume and then wonder what smells so lovely 🙂
SOTD: Sorry, but nothing today…I just like to join in…
I am drinkinking coffee…my fave morning beverage.
And you’re always welcome 🙂
SotD is Ramon Monegal Dubai Next to Me.
That was a pretty bottle.
It looks much better in real life.
My SOTD is vintage Galimard Gelsomino, which I just got in a Perfume Posse Swapmania with lovely Holly. It is so pretty! I’d never heard of Galimard, so now I’m doing research. This is definitely one of those triad (orange blossom, jasmine, tuberose) marriages made in heaven. It is perfect for spring, so happy day!
I remember LT noting that those names ending in -ard come from a particular region in Europe – maybe Lombardy? I can’t quite recall. Molinard and Fragonard are others in the perfume business.
Chamade extrait and loving it!
Drinking cherry flavoured yogurt.
Guerlain and diary products – two sins of mine 😉
I meant dairy, I suppose….
But neither sounds like much of a sin 🙂
I’m wearing Annick Goutal Le Chefreuville (the honeysuckle one) to a Diane von Furstenberg sample sale today. The new Annick Goutal boutique is just gorgeous, by the way, although I’m not crazy about the new standardized Goutal packaging.
New Yorker, eh? 🙂
I’ve got the sample sale on my calender but likely won’t go till end of week with a colleague of mine. Do tell how it is!
Probably better I get the dregs vs. all the good stuff as it will do less damage on my wallet.
And I need to visit that AG boutique too!
Yes, a new transplant! My email address is on my blog- please feel free to say hi. I always love meeting perfumistas! 🙂
I don’t like the new packaging either.
I’m wearing Violet Blond and drinking lots of black coffee to try to focus on work after the long weekend.
Received an order from Nordstrom, which included a leaky sample of D&G Pour Femme. It’s currently tenaciously clinging to my index and middle fingers. It’s survived one round of Dawn, will try liquid Tide next. It’s not me at all.
Beverage is my usual standby, Yorkshire Gold loose leaf.
Amouage Beloved Woman from a sample. I love civet and this has a good dose of it (or what smells like it these days) blended with a lovely rose, spices, and jasmine with lavender on the side. It’s not cloying or too sweet and seems to be staying quite close to skin. I woke up very early and had coffee with half and half. Not drinking anything at the moment, have to run errands.
Beloved is near perfection – one of my favorite perfumes ever.
Beloved is so gorgeous. It is on my fantasy wish list. I’d trade half my collection for a bottle!
I am wearing Alexa Lixfeld 001. It’s just right for the warm, rainy weather we’re having today. Love that tea canister! I am drinking iced tea (just plain black unsweetened tea).
Wearing No. 19. I have some major decisions to make about my work and No. 19 gives me confidence and makes me feel like a bad ass. Finishing the dregs of my americano with cream.
I’m a big tea canister fan! Love old vintage ones that I can put a plant in or a bunch of pencils.
On my 2nd cup of coffee (cream, no sugar), and SOTD: Field Notes from Paris. Been kind-a unadventurous these days, but have a number of samples coming to try!
Happy Tuesday!
Wearing Infusion d’Iris today–I think I over applied by accident. Just finished a cup of (caffeinated) coffee–dark with just a hint of sugar.
That chai tea sounds amazing! Today I’m wearing L’Artisan Timbuktu and drinking Rishi Earl Grey tea. I love earl grey, and Rishi makes the best of what brands I’ve tried – their earl grey is so aromatic and they use a lot of good quality Bergamont.
I bought Timbuktu this winter, and it was great to wear on cold snowy days. I’m trying it out for warmer days today. I thought it might be overwhelming but the dry woodiness is a nice balance for the heat – as long as I don’t apply too much 🙂
Wearing Foin Fraichement Coupe from Oriza L Legrand. It’s dry, sort of herbal/spicy, subtle and interesting. I really love this house as even the scents that aren’t me still smell good on my skin
Hi everybody. I’m wearing DSH Songbird, thanks to the great generosity of Lady Murasaki in the last Freebie Meet. It’s soft and summery. The beverage is cream of almond black tea, which smells of marzipan. It would make a fabulous fragrance,
Oh, lord, y’all are so refined.
I myself am guzzling Red Bull and covered in samples from the Posse Swapmania. 😛
Too funny! I’m picturing a speedy woman who smells great rushing past!
Is it weird that I love the smell of Redbull? :/
Maybe Demeter could do a RedBull frag?
Did you sample anything good?
I’ve got a package almost ready for you. I’m hoping to mail it later in the week. I was covered in the samples you sent me earlier today. I was stinking pretty.
Hi everyone! I am wearing a couple soft dabs of EL Beautiful, which is super intense and seems to last forever on me. It’s the first floral I’ve worn in some time. The beverage is looseleaf English Breakfast tea that I received as a very thoughtful gift for Valentine’s day 🙂
Deff one that smells better on, IMO!
SOTD is Byredo Pulp, which I love.
Beverage is tap water. Less interesting.
I have been harboring a yearning for the Pulp shower gel since they stocked it at Luckyscent. It is so expensive. And yet. And yet.
Gosh, I’d love to have that too.
Me too! But if I had $50 to blow on Pulp I’d probably rather buy another decant…
Priorities!
I love a perfumista with priorities!
I am wearing Stephen Jones today as actually a lot recently. Green Tea.
I like that one too! So fitting for spring, I think.
Wearing Une Folie de Rose, which is a nice fit for the unstable fall weather we are having.
Beverage is Nespresso Roma.
Hi perfume friends! Today I am in…da da da da – Angel! I never thought it would happen, and I still don’t think it will happen more than once in a blue moon, but I think I am beginning to understand how one can appreciate a scent without actually wanting to wear it. It is, I have to say, quite something!
Tea:)
Why????Lol!When Miroir de Majestes is waiting for you!!;-)
Yes, that one is immediately enjoyable!
Ubar and ice water.
Aqua Di Gio and Aquafina bottled.
My SOTD is NEBULA 1 by Oliver & Co.
Only had less than 2 hours of sleep and thought I would reach for something bright. Oh it. was. BRIGHT.
Drinking a glass of lemonade right now. Nothing special but the zest is helping me stay conscious.
Bottega veneta (the original) and sticking to tap water.
I allowed myself a bit of my stash of very vintage Fleurs de Rocaille today. I had a rather high powered meeting this morning and am wearing a suit that has style touches from the ’40s, so I thought FdR seemed appropriate.
I usually drink some green tea with agave syrup every morning, but got up a bit late to fuss with it today. So I’m sipping some Celestial Seasonings Earl Grey from our company’s kitchen stash.
Love picturing the ’40s touches with FdR!
Good evening from Norway you lovely smelling people! Interesting to hear what you are all sniffing today. Me I am wearing Fracas (very glamourous) and drinking tap water (just a little more casual).
Wearing Chateau Krigler 12, drinking nothing, but eating crystallized ginger.
Today I am wearing – for the first time – Cuirs Carner Barcelona. I’ve got a sample to try, and expected to find a leather there. But unfortunately it looks like aristocratic Nasomatto Black Afgano, less leather, more spicy wood. Not so sweet as other Carner aromas.
Drinking the special herbal tea from the old believers village, their unique recipe.
Wearing Eau de Protection and had a cup of vanilla-flavoured coffee. Not sure about the latter. About to have the second meeting of the day, so should get more coffee.
Started off the day with Infusion d’Iris, for a sunny spring morning. Then it darkened down, rained hard with thunder, and now it is still dim and chilly, so I am enjoying a cup of strong Cafe Bustelo with 2 tsp sugar, 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract, and a tablespoon of half-and-half!
Annick Goutal Eau d”Hadrien. Been fantasizing about an Italian holiday – and needed the citrus zest to shake off feeling under the weather. Loose leaf strong black tea with milk.
Ida, hope you are feeling better today. 🙂
SOTD was Santal Majuscule. In my top 5 Lutens fragrances. We are entering winter now,so I’m having some hot milk with honey/nutmeg and a dash of Vanilla.
Oh!And I love the communal SOTD idea!Looking forward to Chanel-Friday!:-))
Wearing Feminite du Bois today. Just got it from a Posse Swapmania swap. Just sipping on a Whataburger coffee and a bottle of water.
I started the day with Lady Vengeance and switched at noon to Oolang Infini. Lots of cups of strong Earl Grey tea have been downed today. Earl Grey, within me and all around me.
That sounds like a quote from one of the apocryphal gospels, lol!
Long day being a good daughter so I just had a strong cup of a good Assam.
SOTD is SSS Champagne de Bois, which will still be lingering through tomorrow regardless of showers or scrubbing.
This morning started with Hermes Eau d’Orange Vert, along with black loose-leaf tea and milk. This afternoon I tried layering Cartier Baiser Vole EDT over it, just on one wrist. Was hoping to mingle the citruses and get a bit of that grassy/boyish scent under the lily, but I’m not sure it worked – still find the lily a bit straight. Now drinking raspberry white tea. An espresso got hidden in there somewhere, too 😉
I’m in San Diego for a conference, and my go-to conference perfume is Jour d’Hermes.
Also, breaking news, San Diego is gorgeous! (it’s my first time here).
Oh, where are you in SD? I used to live up in North County (La Jolla & then Carlsbad)
My conference is at the convention center but as an added treat, I’m staying with my brother, who lives in Point Lomas, and he’s ferrying me around and giving me the grand tour. So nice to have a “home base” at a conference that’s not just a hotel room.
Drinking chamomile tea and after an afternoon of crazy sampling I am now showered and happily marinating in Alien.
Today my SOTD was Un Jardin en Med. I had bought a big ole 100 ml last summer, but when wearing some in the fall started to hate it! Was very happy to discover that I love it again…seasons really do make a big difference in perception of certain things. I was glad I like it again, that big honking bottle was really bothering me when I thought it was a waste.
Just drinking some ice water tonight.
SOTE is Coeur de Vétiver Sacré.
SOTD = Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 Khol de Bahrein and the perfume is worth every mouthful of the name! It’s a powdery iris with resinous amber and Jordan almond hard shell sugar.
My beverages for today:
– large Gregory’s drip coffee with cream and sugar
– halfway through the morning, I nuked the remains of the coffee and added a decaf espresso shot from the Flavia machine in the pantry (with no added cream or sugar).
– at lunch, I had unsweetened iced tea
– throughout the day, I had a bottle of spring water (I don’t trust the water cooler)
– when I got home, with my dinner, I drank filtered tap water (wait, is that an oxymoron?) at room temperature. I really should drink more water!
My liquids intake during the week doesn’t change much although there are times when I would make several cups of green tea using the Flavia machine. I use the “Strong” setting which almost always makes me wonder if I am breaking the “Zen” of green tea by using that setting.
It’s late but I’ll play! Earlier I wore Amouage Fate. I just love this one and have made a bit of a dent in the bottle so far. Certainly this must be in my top 5 of all time picks. I drank coffee (cream+1truvia) and later diet Pepsi as there was no coke zero. Now it’s water for the rest if the evening.
My package from lucky scent arrived with a (back ordered) bottle of Chypre Palatin, a gift from my dog. While this feels masculine, I love it…. I need a MR CM to come into my life so he could wear this! Until then, I’ll just keep the bottle warm for him, ok?
Oh, and y’all smell fantastic today!
Started out the morning with Chanel Jersey. Like but not love. Since I didn’t feel well and worked from home today I moved onto Coromandel. Not something I would choose to wear to the office…or really much more this summer. ..but it was comforting.
Enjoyed a mocha this morning, then drank a LOT of sparkling water. You know, like a fancy person!
SOTD: Kenzo Amour Florale. A very pretty, slightly soapy (in a good way) citrus blossom, that I’ve applied three times today, and is gone again. It’s gotten quite chilly tonight, so I’ll have to put on something warmer. Drinking filtered tap water, but will have some rooibos chai tea soon.
Has anyone tried scents from Bissoumine? Their sample set looks great…and some of the notes do too.
No scent.
