Dolce & Gabbana have launched Velvet Rose and Velvet Bergamot, two new fragrances joining 2011's Velvet Collection. Along with last year's additions, Velvet Desert Oud and Velvet Tender Oud, they bring the series total to ten fragrances.
Velvet Rose ~ "Velvet Rose is the Designers’ homage to the Mediterranean rose. Nourished by the freshest of water and the brightest of sun, it is characterised by its intensity of brightness, of tonality and of scents. This soft rosy floral fragrance opens with a scent reminiscent of a fragrant sun-drenched sea breeze. Three vintage roses fuse together to create a pure feminine floral masterpiece. Rich Moroccan rose absolute, pure and airy Bulgarian Rose essence and light and crisp Rose Centifolia accord, featuring Rose de Mai absolute, yield a natural rose scent that intoxicates and endures. The sensorial journey continues with Sicilian hesperidic notes of a Salomon lily accord, and hints of Egyptian geranium, developing a soft atmospheric wet floralcy. Fused with musk velvione, the fragrance wraps the wearer in the warmth of the balmy Mediterranean sun."
Velvet Bergamot ~ "Like a sun drenched orchard of citrus trees in full bloom, Velvet Bergamot excites and refreshes the senses with a powerful and aromatic burst of rich bitter sweet sensation. Beautifully complex and intoxicatingly bitter, the Amaro fragrance tantalises the senses with two types of impeccable quality bergamot, enriched with cassis bud absolute that casts a spell of seduction that is unmistakably Sicilian. A herbaceous journey of discovery uncovers the sparkling clary sage and eau de brouts absolute from the orange flower and petitgrain leaves, fizzing at the heart of the fragrance exuding the powerful potency of living freshness. The final encounter with the rich notes of vetiver and ambrette seed surround the wearer with the very essence of a Sicilian summer that is softly enduring, delicately exotic and deeply enticing."
Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Rose & Velvet Bergamot can be found now at Harrods in the UK, 50 ml Eau de Parfum for £150 each.
The bottles are absolutely exquisite! Velvet Rose sounds really nice. It seems like the fragrance you would wear to a classy evening event such as a black tie affair. I see it is available in the UK. Hopefully, it will be available in the US soon. I would love to smell these.
They will almost certainly be at Saks first, then Neiman Marcus later, possibly much later (I don’t think NM even has the 2 that were launched in 2013 as of yet).
I just checked NM online and they have about 4 of them there. Not sure about the actual stores. NM is the place where I get most of my fragrances from, so I will keep my eyes open. Thanks Robin!
I’m always amazed at the number of fragrances that are launched in the UK first (usually a Harrods or selfridges exclusives) – is the UK a hotbed for fragrances ? Is the US a wasteland? Fragrance companies seem to regard the US as very low in their priorities – with the huge population of the US I would have thought it was a big market. As I live in London I’m not complaining – but it always seems odd to me !
The US is no longer the priority it once was, that is for sure.
I’m not sure though, that all these fragrances really do launch in the UK first, or if it’s just that the UK has department stores that make online sales a priority — the high end French department stores do not seem to be interested in online sales in the least. So, may just be that I tend to see them first at Harrods or Selfridges, when they’ve already been out in France (or in this case, perhaps Italy), or sometimes in Asia or the Middle East.
