Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Desert Oud & Velvet Tender Oud ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 10 April 2013 12 Comments

Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Desert Oud

Dolce & Gabbana have launched Velvet Desert Oud and Velvet Tender Oud, two new additions to 2011's Velvet Collection.

Velvet Desert Oud (shown) ~ "Like a fragrant breeze blowing through the dunes of Middle Eastern deserts, Velvet Desert Oud floods the senses, permeating so quickly and so powerfully that the chase ultimately becomes an unconditional and comforting conquest. The fragrance opens on a heady wave of incense, almost as if to forewarn: incense is the quintessential perfume of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern lands, intoxicating, permeating and seducing, with no hesitations. A call to action heralding the rich smoky tones of the dark wood and mysterious deep ambery notes that follow. Perception dissolves in the final celebration of the soft musky notes, leaving the hot, heady aroma of a successful conquest lingering on the skin."

Velvet Tender Oud ~ "Like a yearning for the Orient, Velvet Tender Oud slowly unfurls in a voluptuous effusion of velvety, soft sweetness, revealing its heady, mysterious heart, one note at a time. The fragrance opens on the sweet notes of almond which immediately stir the senses, trapping the instinct then wrapping it in a potent and velvety serenade of Damask rose essence and Rosa Centifolia. Almonds and roses coalesce in a soave and mellifluous masterpiece, intoxicating and preparing the senses for the master stroke of the final mystery, where the intense, full-bodied Oud feeling fuses with the lighter, dryer notes of wood."

Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Desert Oud and Velvet Tender Oud can be found now at Harrods in the UK, 50 ml Eau de Parfum for £170 each.

I was thinking Dior Homme? But they started using this bottle in 2011 in any case.

Ah yes, “voluptuous velvet.” the favorite fabric of those wondering around in mideastern deserts, Apparently the velvet wearers are not the only ones in D&G’s desert, which are apparently scented with amber. “Amber scent”: as all perfuministas know is derived fromt the scent of ambergris, the lining of whale stomachs which sometimes wash up on shore . Yes, this mideastern desert is apparently the home to a school of whales, whales which have persistant digestive problems, perhaps from wearing too much velvet in the desert heat in air permeated with incense.

LOL, I did laugh, but are you aware of how COLD it can get in the desert at night? It is not at all uncommon to see velvet in the bazaars.

I really wanna try this Dolce & Gabbana line but isn’t there enough oud in the market already?
I’m wearing Black Afgano at the moment btw which has a considerable dose of oud, loved it when I bough it, then got sick of it by only smelling it on my wrists and found it kind of old but now I love it back again… insence, oud, cardamon, cinnamon, a small hint of hachis and luckily the tobacco doesn’t develop on my skin… def an oud middle eastern chic winner… Oops, I’m a little oud of the subject.

You know, I haven’t really looked, but I’ve never run across any of this collection.

Yikes. That prose is so purple it’s stained my monitor. “Like a yearning for the Orient”…what year is this?

No kidding. Just add a ripped bodice and a throbbing manhood and you’ve got yourself a Harlequin naughty bit.

HUGE OUD LOVER…EVEN BETTER, MIXED WITH ROSE!!!

Can’t wait…eventhough this higher line is too pricey but just have to bite the bullet and plurge for them both, or at least for VELVET TENDER OUD.

    ANXIOUSLY AWAITING!
